FC 25 Best New Icon Rating Leaks - Angerer, Buffon, Bale and more
With EA SPORTS FC 25 releasing on September 27, 2024, there have been rumors about which icons will be in the game. This is usually a big part of EA's football video game.
This icon pack features one of the all-time greats and their stats have been upgraded, which makes them a must-get for Ultimate Team. Parts of their cards that receive an upgrade are their dribbling, pace, passing, shooting, defending, physicality, skill moves, weak foot accuracy, and playstyles. So make sure you keep an eye out for when these icon cards will be released.
Tumblr media
Nadine Angerer - 92 OVR
Angerer has played for Frauen-Bundesliga clubs Bayern Munich, Turbine Potsdam (with whom she won the 2005 UEFA Women's Cup), and FFC Frankfurt. In 2008, she played for Djurgårdens IF of the Swedish Damallsvenskan and she spent two periods on loan with Brisbane Roar of the Australian W-League in 2013 and 2014. During her extensive international career, Angerer was recognized as one of the world's best female goalkeepers.
Germany won the UEFA Women's Championship on each of the five occasions Angerer was involved and won the FIFA Women's World Cup in 2003 and 2007. Their best finish at the Olympics was third in 2000, 2004 and 2008. Angerer is a penalty-saving specialist, having stopped Marta's kick in the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup Final and both Trine Rønning and Solveig Gulbrandsen's during the UEFA Women's Euro 2013 Final. She was appointed captain of Germany in 2011 following the retirement of Birgit Prinz. On 13 January 2014, Angerer was named FIFA World Player of the Year, becoming the first goalkeeper – male or female – to win the award. She announced her retirement from the international team on 13 May 2015.
Gianluigi Buffon - 91 OVR
Gianluigi "Gigi" Buffon is a former Italian professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Widely regarded as one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time, and by some the greatest of all time, he is one of the few recorded players to have made over 1,100 professional career appearances and holds the record for the most appearances in Serie A.
Tumblr media
Buffon was named by Pelé in the FIFA 100 list of the world's greatest living players in 2004. He is the only goalkeeper to win the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award, which he achieved after reaching the 2003 Champions League final; he also won UEFA's award for best goalkeeper that year and was additionally voted into the UEFA Team of the Year on five occasions. Buffon was the runner-up for the Ballon d'Or in 2006 and was elected part of the FIFPro World11 three times. He was the first-ever goalkeeper to win the Golden Foot Award and was also named the IFFHS World's Best Goalkeeper a record five times, alongside Iker Casillas and Manuel Neuer. He would go on to be named the best goalkeeper of the 21st century, of the past 25 years, and of the decade by the same organization.
Aya Miyama - 90 OVR
Aya Miyama is a Japanese former footballer who played for the Japan national team starting in 2003, and from 2012 to 2016 served as captain of the team. She appeared in four World Cups between 2003 and 2015 and was part of the team that won the 2011 World Cup for Japan. Miyama also led Japan to a silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
Tumblr media
At the 2011 World Cup in Germany, Miyama scored the winner – a curling free kick – to help Japan beat New Zealand, and netted Japan's first goal in the final against the USA. Miyama also scored Japan's first penalty of the eventual penalty shoot-out in the final which ended 2–2 after extra time. Her team won 3–1 in the penalty shoot-out, making them the first Asian team to win the World Cup. In the moment of victory, Miyama did not join her teammates in celebration but instead went to the American players to hug and congratulate them. This has been reported both by Hope Solo and the Japanese media as evidence of Miyama's sportsmanship and respect for her opponents.
 Gareth Bale - 88 OVR
Gareth Frank Bale is a Welsh former professional footballer who played as a winger, most notably for Tottenham Hotspur, Real Madrid, and the Wales national team. He is widely regarded as one of the best footballers of his generation and one of the greatest Welsh players of all time. He was known for his explosive pace, athleticism, and powerful strikes from a distance.
Tumblr media
One of the fastest footballers in the world at his peak, Bale started out as an offensive left-back or wing-back at the beginning of his career. It was at Tottenham Hotspur that his manager Harry Redknapp decided to utilise Bale's pace and played him as a left winger, where he developed into a world-class player. He was predominantly known for his speed, strength, stamina, and heading ability, but also possessed good technique and ball control. His skills, combined with his acceleration and physicality, allowed him to get past defenders regularly and make runs into space, where he was able to score or create. Bale was also a free-kick specialist and was known for employing the "knuckleball" technique (popularised by Juninho Pernambucano) when taking free kicks. As he moved further forward onto the wing, he began to score goals on a regular basis with powerful strikes from outside the penalty box. In addition to his athletic and offensive capabilities, Bale also drew praise in the media for his work rate and defensive contribution off the ball.

Matildas: How Tameka Yallop's partner helped her come out

Matildas: How Tameka Yallop's partner helped her come out
Tumblr media
Ahead of the Paris Olympics officially beginning this weekend, QNews spoke to Queensland-based Matildas player Tameka Yallop about her career, how her partner helped her come out and her hopes for the team.
Although Tameka Yallop was born in Orange, New South Wales we can certainly claim her as a Queenslander.
At five years old she moved to the Gold Coast and it wasn’t long until she found soccer.
“I would follow my brother down to the to our local football club, which was Mudgeeraba Soccer Club and I met a coach there who was like ‘Yeah, jump into my boys’ team’ and he sort of took me from under sixes all the way to under 13s,” she says.
Just a few years later Tameka played her first game for the Matildas at just 16 years old.
Since that debut in 2007, she has seen the women’s game go through monumental growth.

I think post-World Cup and the World Cup itself is something that I was never expecting to see,” she says.
“It’s something that we sort of dreamt of for women’s football, to grow into, but for it to explode like it has and to do that in my career has been absolutely wild.”
Her sexuality
It’s not just women’s football that has grown in that time, it’s also Tameka’s own empowerment as an out queer athlete.
“I definitely struggled with it when I was younger and that was kind of more so with my own family,” she says.
“When I was playing football, my teammates all knew and understood. It was something that I was more scared to tell my family because it wasn’t something that they had experience with or sort of knew anyone that that was gay.”
A turning point came when meeting her now wife Kirsty Yallop when playing together as teammates at a club in Norway.
Their relationship blossomed to the point that Tameka wanted her family to know who she was and who Kirsty was to her.

“I was like ‘I think I’m going to spend the rest of my life with this person,’ okay, now it should be something that my family knows,” she says.
“It was meeting the right person, and at the right time, that gave me the courage to open it up to my family, but also to be fully comfortable with it myself to be so out and open with it.”
The pair married in 2019 and welcomed their daughter Harley in 2020.

Success on the pitch
Her marriage and her daughter may be some of Tameka’s proudest achievements, but the World Cup in 2023 and that penalty shoot-out are right up there as well.
In Australia’s epic win over France on penalties, Tameka was the seventh Matilda to step up to the line where if she missed, Australia would have been knocked out.
She handled the pressure and scored, helping Australia win through to the semi-finals of a World Cup for the first time.
youtube
When I ask her if she looks back and wonders how she did it, she does reflect on how big the moment was.
“To be honest, I’ve had nightmares where I’ve missed and I’ve been like, holy crap,” she says laughing.
“I think that was kind of more on the enormity of it, just seeing all the statistics of the views,  how many people tuned in to watch it and then it kind of like weighs on you like how many other people would have felt my devastation.”
“That’s kind of what blows your mind.”
Culture of the Matildas
The success of the Matildas Tameka put down to the accepting and positive culture of the team.
“We’re about inclusiveness of everyone and diversity of no matter who was coming into the team, and what their beliefs were, what their cultural backgrounds were, I think it was more just making sure that our space was open and honest,” she says with pride.
“We realised that if we want to be competitive at football, we all need to be able to perform at our best and you do that by being comfortable. So we wanted it to be a comfortable environment. I think that’s what we are today.”

Tameka also chose the World Cup to be the time to return home to Australia and her family after playing overseas. She currently plays for Brisbane Roar, the same club she started her professional career with.
“I have my young daughter who’s just got her first football boots and running around on the grass at the club that I started with. it’s a pinch yourself moment and kind of full circle,” she says.
Paris will be Tameka’s third Olympic Games and there’s no hiding the ambition of the Matildas.
“We’ve all sort of openly been saying that we’re chasing that medal. We came fourth in Tokyo, and then the World Cup, fourth place as well. I think it’s fair to say that we do have that deep desire to actually have something tangible,” she says with determination.
The Matildas lost their first game against Germany but will be looking to bounce back against Zambia on Monday morning.

Behind the Scenes: A Day in the Life of a Brick Manufacturer in Brisbane
Tumblr media
Welcome to the heart of Brisbane's construction industry, where every brick laid tells a story of craftsmanship, dedication, and innovation. Now, we'll take you on an exclusive journey behind the scenes of a typical day in the life of a brick manufacturer in Brisbane. From the crackle of clay to the final kiln firing, get ready to uncover the secrets and challenges of producing the building blocks that shape our city's skyline.
Morning: The Clay Awakening
As the sun rises, the brick manufacturer in Brisbane and its team are already set to work. The day begins with the excavation of clay, the lifeblood of our operation. Nestled in the outskirts of the city, our clay pits provide us with the raw material essential for crafting quality bricks. With meticulous precision, our experts assess the clay's composition, ensuring it meets our stringent standards for strength, durability, and aesthetic appeal.
Once the clay is extracted, it undergoes a series of processes to prepare it for molding. From blending to refining, every step requires attention to detail and a keen eye for quality. Our craftsmen and women, armed with decades of experience, work tirelessly to perfect the clay mixture, balancing its texture and moisture content to achieve the ideal consistency for molding.
Afternoon: Shaping the Future
With the clay primed and ready, it's time to breathe life into it through the art of molding. Stepping into the workshop, you're greeted by the rhythmic hum of machinery and the earthy aroma of wet clay. Here, state-of-the-art equipment seamlessly merges with traditional craftsmanship, allowing us to produce bricks of unparalleled precision and uniformity.
Under the skilled hands of our artisans and brick manufacturer in Brisbane, each brick takes shape, guided by molds meticulously crafted to exact specifications. Whether it's classic red bricks or custom designs tailored to a client's vision, our team prides itself on delivering excellence at every stage of the molding process. From hand-finishing to precision cutting, no detail is too small when it comes to creating bricks that stand the test of time.
Evening: Into the Fire
As dusk descends upon Brisbane, the final chapter of our day unfolds in the fiery glow of the kiln. Here, amidst the intense heat and roaring flames, our freshly molded bricks undergo a transformative journey. Locked within the kiln's embrace, they undergo a process of vitrification, fusing together to form solid, resilient structures capable of withstanding the rigors of construction.
Throughout the night, our kilns roar to life, their fiery embrace shaping the destiny of each brick with unwavering precision. It's a process that demands patience and expertise, as even the slightest variation in temperature or humidity can impact the final outcome. Yet, guided by years of experience as a brick manufacturer in Brisbane and a commitment to excellence, our team ensures that every brick emerges from the kiln imbued with strength, character, and integrity.
As the night fades into dawn, our day draws to a close, but the legacy of brick manufacturer in Brisbane endures. Behind every building, every structure that graces Brisbane's skyline, lies the story of our dedication to craftsmanship and innovation. From the clay pits to the kiln, our journey is one of passion, perseverance, and pride in shaping the future of our city—one brick at a time.

TO ALL THOSE THAT THINK MENS FOOTBALL/SOCCER IS GREAT... LISTEN THE FUCK UP.
Women's footy is better. Statistical and to watch.
Statistically:
Women's soccer is statistically better. You want to know why? Because we have better players.
Best scorer in the world: Christine Sinclair 🇨🇦 with 190 international goals. If you were wondering Ronaldo highest scoring man with 128 international goals.
Most capped player: Kristine Lilly 🇺🇸 with 353 caps. The most capped man is Ronaldo with 205 caps.
In case you were also wondering, women hold the record for highest goal scorers in quite a few countries as well:
🇦🇺: Sam Kerr 63
🇨🇦: Christine Sinclair 190
🇺🇸: Abby Wambach 184
🇳🇱: Anna Margareta Marina Astrid Vivianne Miedema 95
Also caps: because women also hold cap records in many countries.
🇦🇺: Clare Polkinghorn 165
🇨🇦: Christine Sinclair 331
🇺🇸: Kristie Lilly 354
Watching:
This is a personal opinion but women's matches are much better to watch. I have many reasons for this but the main two are sportsmanship and injury reactions.
Sportsmanship:
Generally the women's national teams behave better than the men's teams. They are better losers. Chough English men's team taking off their 2nd place medals ASAP compared to the Lionesses who kept theirs on and wore them with pride chough.
Also in a fair tackle that ends up with both players falling, both athletes are laughing and helping each other up. I've never seen this in a mens game.
Injury:
One thing I have noticed. The men's teams are much more dramatic about injuries most of the time. This is to say that there aren't womens teams like this, Iran, but on the whole the female soccer athletes are much better at dealing with injuries.
Example: Alanna Kennedy breaking her nose during the New Zealand vs AUS match. Sure she has to lie down for a sec for checks and the fact that it really hurts to break your nose, but two min later she's walking off and when she sees the break on the big screen she laughs after exclaiming "oh my god".
Another example is Hayley Raso. Not only was she back a year after breaking 3 vertebrae in her lower back. But when she was playing for Brisbane Roar she played with a cast on her wrist. I've never heard of a mens soccer athlete doing that.

Germany knocked of World Cup after South Korea defeat
Tumblr media
Two-time champions Germany were sent crashing out of the Women's World Cup group stages in the biggest shock of the tournament thanks to a draw with South Korea. It is the first time in Germany's history they have failed to reach the knockout stages. One of the pre-tournament favourites, Germany knew they needed to better Morocco's result against Colombia to progress in Group H, but that match finished 1-0 to Morocco. An early goal by South Korea's Cho So-hyun shook the Euro 2022 finalists in Brisbane, but captain Alexandra Popp netted her fourth goal in three matches to equalise shortly before half-time. Germany were heading through as group runners-up as they went off the pitch for the break, but Morocco stunned Colombia to score minutes later in Perth, meaning Martina Voss-Tecklenburg's side had to win. Popp was their best hope of scoring again and she almost did, thumping a header off the crossbar minutes after she had bundled it over the line, only for the video assistant referee to confirm it was offside. The Wolfsburg striker came close again later when she sent a free header wide of the post, roaring in frustration as the minutes ticked away for Germany. During stoppage time Germany sent countless crosses into South Korea's box to no avail as substitute Sydney Lohmann struck wide and sent another effort inches over the bar. Germany's players fell to the ground at full-time and were in tears as they were consoled by staff members. South Korea finish bottom of the group, having lost their first two matches. Colombia face Jamaica on Tuesday at 09:00 BST in the last 16, while Morocco take on France at 12:00. Read the full article

WHO THE F*** ARE THE ARCTIC MONKEYS? // BRISBANE TOUR
Tumblr media
Sheffield export Arctic Monkeys have returned to Australia for the eighth time, set to perform a string of shows across the country as a part of a tour celebrating their seventh studio album, ‘The Car’. Next to 10,000 young and old piled into Brisbane's Riverstage on Wednesday night to battle for the best spot to get a glimpse of the ever alluring Alex Turner, along with his musical Droogs Nick O’Malley, Jaime Cook and Matthew Helders.
Tumblr media
Alluding to the lead single from The Car, a giant mirror ball hung front and center of a stage draped with large velvet curtains, the perfect backdrop to compliment the deliciously kitsch 70’s flavor the band has been rolling with for the last few years. The mosh ran thick and feisty, further endorsing the fan allegiance that was already proven by the quick sell out of the tour, paired with an overwhelming lock horns for any second hand tickets available.
The Queensland crowd grew increasingly impatient with every roadie that walked onto stage, beginning to chant for the members by name. Once the crew had decided the mob were riled up &  randy enough, the slightly uncanny 1960’s Batman theme came to an abrupt halt as the lights cut off. Shadows began to emerge from the darkness, and not from the roadies this time! Seemingly playing into the ironic sex appeal of 70s’s tack, Barry Whites ‘Im Gonna Love You Just A Little Bit More Baby" soundtracked Alex’s hip swinging stride to centrestage, and continued playing as the band settled themselves in, raising instruments to their bodies and smirking to each other as the audience roared even louder at the ooze of sarcastic sexiness.
In a complete 180 flip from what anyone expected them to do, suddenly red and white lights began flashing erratically as “The View From The Afternoon” belted the masses into action. And the fan favorite throwbacks didn't stop there, as they continued with ‘Brianstorm’, ‘Snap Out Of It’, ‘Crying Lightning’ & ‘Don’t Sit Down ‘Cause I Moved Your Chair”.
Ok ok, so a band is playing a few of their deeper cut songs, not exactly revolutionary is it? But ernestly,  I’d come along expecting a few of the hits weaved between the new album in its entirety, an album that I self admittedly have not yet given the time of day. Typically when a band that’s been releasing music for nearly 20 years comes out with new material, that's the type of set list that you get. And fans make peace with it and still pay the big bucks to come check it anyway. But boy was I wrong. I, along with many other members of the audience, were treated to a sentimental revisit of our younger years, a youth that was soundtracked by these very songs.
Unpretentiously, the Arctic Monkeys seem to have this understanding of the importance their music plays on a person's youth, particularly those of us a little outcast from popular society. For whatever reason, they’ve always served as some kind of quintessential starter pack for alternative kids. Ya know, the kids who were on tumblr in 2012, who smoked cigarettes in the park after school that one of their friends stole from an older sibling, kids who wore doc martens and knee socks and have either A. Had their style massively influenced by Turner's most infamous ex Girlfriend, Alexa Chung or B. Had their taste in women was massively influenced by Turner's most infamous ex girlfriend, Alexa Chung.
Tumblr media
Every alternative kid has a core memory attached to an Arctic Monkeys song, even if you’re not particularly a fan. It could be belting along to ‘Fluorescent Adolescent’ during indie nights at your local club, or sending your grade 10 crush their cover of "Baby I’m Yours” and being swiftly rejected for the naive crassness. Whatever it is, they’re right there holding your hand like the older brother of music, just waiting to whisk you into a world where there is more than what's played on the charts, a discovery that in turn teaches you about a whole new way of dressing, talking, acting and what posters will get the glory of hanging on your bedroom wall.
So, here we have three generations of misfits who have begged their parents for enough money to go and see their idols in person, and this is a tradition that clearly is still continuing. As I looked around the grassed amphitheater, you could tell the ages of people based on how hard they cheered for which song, and I couldn’t help but wonder  why we all linked together. I saw 17 year olds eager to be in their first ever mosh, mingling with 35 year olds who woke up with a stiff neck from all the thrashing that ensued.  Clearly, the Arctic Monkeys still have a firm grip on these various generations. Generations that are so vastly different from each other, intricately entwined with their own subcultures and niche customs; all stood there united over the same band… but how?
Well, with a band that's been releasing music for nearly 16 years, you’d hope their music to grow and mature as they do. Never once has Alex Turner let them pool stagnant, riding off of their early success, unwilling to change their sound out of fear of losing that said success. The Arctic Monkeys sound as well as their members have metamorphosed so many times since 2007 that there really is a version of them for everyone, for every cohort.
We’ve seen just about every era of Alex Turner that all coincide with their albums, as if he reinvents himself every time he steps into the recording booth. We have English Lad era with WPSIATWIN where he looked more like an Inbetweeners character than a rockstar, the fan Favorite Humbug era, the infamous slicked quiff and leather jacket era that coincided with the release of AM, to a now tamer version of this old school rockstar ( who stayed in character the entire time by refusing to ever take off his sunglasses. ) But really the thing that keeps Arctic Monkeys relevant, is that over the evolution they never seem to have lost the charm and musical talent that secured their place in the music scene to begin with.
Tumblr media
Maybe you found the band when they were playing in Northern English pubs singing songs about fighting bouncers and snorting packets, or maybe you only jumped on in the last year after Tik Tok made parallels between Alex and the rat from flushed away. Regardless of where along their journey you found them, I have to give my hat off to the Arctic Monkeys for providing a delicately fabricated set list that every fan, no matter what age, no matter what album was their favorite, was gassed with.
Thank-you to the band for the endless ingenuity, and for uniting music fans from every age and walk of life all over the world.
