Konstantin Konstantinovich Ivanov (1921-2003) - Soviet and Russian graphic artist. Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1974) He received his first drawing lessons from his father, a graphic artist Konstantin Lvovich Ivanov.

1933. Classes in the art studio named after V. I. Lenin. Works in various genres of poster, mainly political.

1941-1945. While at the front, he drew posters for "Agitokon TASS" and made front sketches.

1950s-1970s. He created satirical posters, some together with Veniamin Briskin. As a result of trips to the USSR and foreign countries, he performed the following series: "White Sea", "Baikal", "Norway", "France" and others. He created a number of sculptural works in stone and metal.

1956-1991. He worked in the workshop of "Agitposter", took part in its organization.

1960s-1980s. Posters for Sanprosvet, Mosconcert, Soyuzgostsirk, Reklamfilm.

1967, 1968. Gold medals (collective), 1968 Silver medal - all for sanitary and educational posters at the International Health and Educational Poster Competitions in Bologna.

1974. Honored Artist of the RSFSR.

1993. Executed the coat of arms of Moscow (approved by the Moscow City Duma).

1995. Moscow Prize for the coat of arms of Moscow.

He died in 2003. He was buried at the Vvedensky cemetery (19th).

Scopitone star Randy Sparks dies at 90

Randy Sparks died at the age of 90 at an assisted living facility in San Diego, California on February 11, 2024. Sparks was probably best known as the founder of the folk group the New Christy Minstrels, where he helped launch the careers of stars such as John Denver, Steve Martin, Kenny Rogers, Gene Clark of the Byrds, Larry Ramos of the Association, and "Bette Davis Eyes" singer Kim Carnes.

He had a second group, the Back Porch Majority, who made one somewhat controversial Scopitone film, "The Mighty Mississippi" in 1965. In March 1966, Sparks complained to Daily Variety that his "wholesome act" was "promised the same kind of class treatment as Debbie Reynolds got in the Scopitone film she did and we didn't get it." Instead, Sparks stated, after the group's performance was filmed, Reynolds' production company Harman-EE Productions "went to their own studio and added material that turned it into a dirty look in low taste." Sparks vowed never to do another Scopitone for Harman-EE.

Harman-EE's Irving Briskin responded, in a letter to Daily Variety, that Sparks' complaints were "untrue" and that Scopitone films are "always produced with the artist there at all times and nothing is shot without the artist's full knowledge." Briskin also opined that "if I were a manager of an artist and an alleged image of that artist had supposedly been damaged, I do not believe I would further damage that image through a newspaper comment."
