Sirius looked distressed and had something in his eyes that he couldn't catch what it meant. He took off the quirurjical mask and breathed soundly.
"When we brought your husband into the OR, we originally thought we could go in with a bronchoscope and laser, however there was a lot of bleeding, so we had to open him up."
Regulus immediately felt the ghost of a hand grabbing his heart with long claws ready to tear it apart.
"Wait. You...wait a minute. No. Remus said that--" Regulus hated himself for the stuttering but Sirius ignored it.
"When we opened him up, we saw that his tumour had eroded his pulmonary artery," Regulus tried to breathe but found it difficult to let the air in "Dr. McGonagall and I both used extraordinary measures..."
"No, wait...Sirius. No." Regulus could feel the hand tightening the grab making him bleed.

Regulus could feel he was losing the war between breaking down and staying alive "I never really thought about it...But now I get it, and, um...Sirius..." The first tear fall and it felt like ice freezing everything in its path "I need you...I need you to say it"
"Barty is dead."
The hand tightened so hard his heart felt like exploding. He lost the fight with the tears that started falling and falling and falling and never-ending.
"Thank you." the words hurt in his throat and Sirius made a movement to hug him, he didn't do anything to stop him because he felt like he was falling into a black hole that led straight to hell.
