Life Lately — Entry # 02

This week, dad and I are alone at home. Mom went to Japan and will be staying there for a week. Jan is at Boracay with Pau, babysitting. I’m doing my best to do house chores while getting my stuff organized.

These days I am trying to be productive by:

Cleaning up my socials. I set up my Letterboxd account! I also made a new YouTube channel because I felt like separating my fangirling account will make my life seem like it’s organized. I also cleaned up my Twitter accounts.

Applying to jobs. I’ve been applying to jobs since last year but I didn’t took it way too seriously. Now that I’m desperate for money, I’m taking it seriously by answering calls and attending those damned interviews. I really suck at interviews. I stutter a lot and I couldn’t make a cohesive sentence. Maybe it’s one of the reasons why I couldn’t get a job offer. Oh, I have a scheduled interview this Thursday at Makati near my old office. It’s an 8am-5pm job and I’m not sure if I’m ready to commute. I hope there’s a job opportunity where I could work from home.

Listening to kpop boy group discographies! These days I’m into EXO, BTOB, and Seventeen! I’m kinda giddy that I’m discovering these groups like I’m in my teens again. I can’t believe I only liked one boy group since 2007 and that’s Bigbang. There’s news that TOP is no longer with YG and Bigbang. GD’s contract ended, too. Well, Still Life felt like it was a really good bye but I was hoping it was a See You Again type of song. Anyway! I’m listening to all of these boy groups’ albums from their first album release up to present. I want to sincerely enjoy their music. I have been following EXO since 2020 but I haven’t had the chance to discover their old songs so I couldn’t say that I’m a solid fan yet. As for BTOB, I’ve known them because of Sung-Jae BUT it’s just this year that I wanted to dive into their fandom because of Chang-Sub. I would say he’s my bias. I discovered him thru his Youtube segment Jeongwaja in ootb studio’s YouTube channel (I’ve watched all of his videos! This week, he’ll go back to the military as a promise for reaching 500k subscribers haha!) As for Seventeen, I’ve been seeing this member on Twitter and he’s just handsome af haha! His name’s Wonwoo! Although I hate getting into boy groups with more than 10 members (my memory is frail plus I can’t remember who’s singing), this group may be an exception. Their albums and songs are all a bop (although most of it were kinda sound the same). I really liked it!

Chanyeol launched his personal YouTube channel! He talked about the meaning behind his channel name and how he got it (thanks to Zzar!). Zzar stole the show here. She knows she’s the boss haha! Hoping to get to know more of Chanyeol through his YouTube! He’s my bias (just look at that face!!!!) and seeing him with Zzar made me fall in love with him more.

I know this is a distraction from SM Ent because of the ongoing lawsuit. I hope all members of EXO leave that shitty company and just make their own company. I’ll support them no matter what happens!

Anyway! I typed a lot which is new. Maybe because no one’s going to read about this? And I didn’t care about whether my sentences made sense or not. I just wanted to post something.

It’s currently 11:30pm and I wake up at 6am to drink meds. Oh, I finally finished all those big pills for treating TB today. I was taking 1200mg of meds in the past two months. I can finally say good bye to those big pills. Tomorrow onwards, I’ll be taking the small pills. Hopefully, my month 2 sputum result is negative. Lately I’ve been coughing again.

A solo stan who is thinking about checking other groups out?

There is nothing wrong with being a solo stan (as in only liking 1 group) as long as you are kind and courteous to other groups.

Also this post might not be for you.

But if you are a solo stan (usually starting with BTS) or just in need of finding new groups and thinking about spreading your wings here are some suggestions. 🙂

When I first got into kpop way back in the 2010 years I had no clue what I had stumbled on and I only liked 2 groups max for the longest time because I didnt know about any other groups. Since then I’ve come to love so many groups that I wish I knew about sooner.

Now mind you. I am primarily a boy group stan so there are not a lot of girl groups on her so please forgive me. -*edit I’ve decided to do a part 2 of just girl groups so stay tuned

they were originally in the running for kingdom but declined. which i think was a smart move (in terms of not wanting to participate in a "competition" given their level but sucks for them politically because them + other starship groups are no longer able to perform on mnet).

i feel like they would have been on the same boat as btob and ikon and just had fun seeing each other weekly (i actually don't know when they film or how frequent?). it also would've been interesting to see how their stages in comparison to sf9 considering they're both the representative "sexy" groups of 3rd gen, just different sexy. sf9 - the suits and elegance whereas monsta x - all up in your face with chokers and chains. i d k it might be because i'm not a big fan of these young groups (tbz is v nice to look at and ateez's music hasn't been doing it for me, i only like answer and say my name which they're performing answer next week so YUH). skz definitely would have not been on kingdom if got7 did not leave jyp; they need the promotion now that they're the only active bg in their company and since bg makes the most money, jyp needed to do something.

i do listen to mx! i think they might be in my top ten most listened artists on spotify in the last six months, actually. i just don't post about them very much. i also agree that they did not need to be on kingdom, they have no need to be there and this kind of performance really isn't their bag at all. before the show actually started but we knew the lineup hanya and i were lamenting on how we are never going to get a bobby+mingi+changkyun head to head, because that would have been fucking bananas. i did hear very briefly on twitter that mnet was doing blackmailing to get groups on the show, which is obviously slimy as fuck but at the same time i'm not that surprised to find out about it. there's been feuds before, i don't think this is anything that new. but it does suck ass for the groups.

i would assume that they film weekly? i suspect they only do one long filming day to minimize the amount of people on site at the studios. but yes i think mx would probably not take the actual competition elements too seriously. i'm also a little bit curious as to what their stages would be like, especially because we've seen some strong concepts from them before.

i dont really follow any 4th gen groups other than ateez and oneus, and its debatable if i even 'follow' ateez since i get all my content updates from hanya. although i do think its very cool to see how the different generation groups have made stages and it has made the show infinitely more watchable, i don't actually kingdom would be sustainable with only 3rd gen groups. the performance styles are too different. sf9 is doing a great job adapting, but a lot of them have actual acting experience outside of being an idol, which helps with diversifying their skillset. i wouldn't say no to seeing it but i have very few ideas on what mx would even do for this type of stage, and i can't even imagine got7 doing anything remotely close to the stuff we're watching every week. the experience that comes with being a 3rd gen groups has a very different energy, and it isn't very well suited to a competition show and this style of competition show for sure. there needs to be the hunger that comes with being a rookie to drive the show forward. i say let the kids throw themselves around on stage and let us have fun watching them

MY 3 CHOSEN FIELD OF EXPERTISE & INFLUENCER

Hello! As for today, I will be sharing to everyone about my thoughts in today’s generation specifically in Social Media.

So, what is Social Media? According to dictionary, it’s a websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking. Basically, it is a site where people can interact with each other and can be able to exchange their ideas or thoughts though they are far from each other. In present, most of us are into social media even children, adults or elderly have their own social networking site account. Well, we can’t deny the fact that social media is very important and useful to everyone…age really doesn’t matter at all by the help of social media, we can do many things, it can help to make our work much productive with the use of internet connection and other social networking sites, we can communicate to our long distance relative even to our special someone, we can even do a shopping like buying clothes, shoes, food online or any stuff that we want just by staying at home, and can even play games without going outside and spending more energy to commute or walk. So isn’t it really amazing to have social media in our life?

We have different types of social media that we should love to explore!

Personally, I’m using Facebook,_ Instagram_ and Twitter to enjoy my social life. Well, not just that because we have many social networking sites to enjoy.

BTOB

BtoB (/ˈbiːtuːbiː/ BEE-too-bee; Korean: 비투비; acronym for  Born to Beat) is a South Korean boy band formed in 2012 by Cube Entertainment. The group consists of Seo Eun-kwang, Lee Min-hyuk, Lee Chang-sub, Im Hyun-sik, Peniel Shin, Jung Il-hoon, and Yook Sung-jae.

BtoB debuted on March 21, 2012, performing “Insane” (비밀) and “Imagine” on M Countdown.[1] The group’s debut EP, Born to Beat was released on April 3, 2012. I really really love them since 2017! Yes, I’ve became a Melody (BTOB’s fandom name) almost 2 years and 7 months and still counting. Why I like them? It’s simply because I’m in love and mesmerized by their stunning voice, the first time I heard their song “It’s Okay” I was really hooked and I can’t get out of it! They’re my huge inspiration and influencer. I was touched by their perspective in life, I learned that “Patience is a Virtue” they encouraged me to pursue my desires because they say that when your still alive and kicking it’s not yet the end to push and fight for your dreams. Their words of wisdom gives me energy, they’re like my fuel that keeps my life going. Why I’m saying this because, they’ve already experienced it. It took 3 years after they got their first award in Show Champion, they also had a hard time during those days because not all people appreciates their songs and they are only recognized by few people despite of their amazing talent. BUT! They never ever gave up, they still continue their battle and now they are one of the biggest K-pop Boy group in South Korea. It only means that everything comes in a perfect timing by God’s Plan. That’s why I was inspired by them, always and forever.

I’ve watched many korean drama and movies but these dramas are my favorites. First is I really love the actress portraying the character which is Lee Ji-eun a.k.a IU. I like her drama acting skill, it’s really genuine that you would really feel the emotion she wanted to show, she’s also a singer and I also love her voice.

Lee Ji-eun (Korean: 이지은; born May 16, 1993), professionally known as IU (Korean: 아이유), is a South Korean singer-songwriter and actress. While still in middle school, IU auditioned for various talent agencies with ambitions of becoming a singer.

I love the drama because the plot of the story is very interesting for me, I believe in reincarnation that’s why it catches my attention when the story tells about the life of a person in the past, it’s like it really inspires me when they portraying that would really teaches you something, that would open up your mind to avoid doing bad practices. Reincarnation is like your Karma in life, what you are doing in the past will really reflect on your future. That’s why I am inspired to do good deeds only and be nice to other people.

Not just that, because the drama itself really gives me goosebumps, I was amazed by the animation, effects and how they focuses the camera to the actor/actress, the transition and of course the background music where in I used to know BTOB my favorite k-pop group because they sang one of the OST (Original Soundtrack) of Cinderella and the Four Knights which I also like.

Personally, I was before a Business Management major in Financial Management student. See? The power of social media has a bigger factor in our life. It’s like a domino effect that will give a huge impact to the users.

But, don’t forget to use it in a better way, never use it to the things that would lead you into harm and would just ruin your life that God has given to us. Using social media is also a big responsibility to each one of us, it’s like playing a board game (chess) with just one wrong move you will lose your queen, in other way around… with just one wrong move it will ruin your life. So think, before you click.

Jin's friendship with Ken, is it over? Is it Jin's busy schedule that does not allow them to meet or is the relationship with Taehyung the cause of their departure?

Hey there ‘Jin and Ken’ anon,

Nops, beautiful KenJin still pretty much alive. Jin is still really close buddies with Ken. Here are some KenJin facts from 2018:

Jinnie tweeted selfies with Ken’s fan from Vixx’s Shangri-la performance last year remember? And Ken responded on Twitter! They are too cute.

Jin was also seen with Ken at a sea food restaurant with his ‘We are the Best Idols’ group that includes BTOB Eunkwang, BAP Youngjae, JBJ Kwon Hyunbin and other idol friends last year. All idols left messages to the restaurant including Jin and Ken.

Jin was also feat in a video message in Sandeul’s Starry Night Radio Show 100th episode in October, where the special guest was Ken and he knew Jin was overseas. Both Sandeul and Ken spoken about Jin and how they all keep playing the same game (maplestory) because Jin loves it and Sandeul said it’s all Ken’s fault. 

Basically Jin and Ken hang out in private when Jin is in SK and his relationship with V has not affected his friendships outside Bangtan. I personally want to see more interactions between Jin and his friends but KenJin is totally cute and I miss them being so clingy in public! That doesn’t mean Taehyung is not jealous of Ken because, of course he is as seen many but oh so many times throughout the years (maybe I should do a Tae vs KenJin masterpost).

But apparently Taehyung’s possessiveness doesn’t change the fact Jin needs his friends close. BTS insane schedule is complicating Jin’s private life and quality time with friends, something that Jin said he misses the most. I think he is not travelling with his besties anymore because of BTS’s schedule but apparently they still have dinner dates and stuff. I hope Jin can have more quality time with his buddies in 2019.

I was hoping for peaceful recovery months but I guess not. I also told myself not to post while I am recovering but right now I have to.

Just to start off I’m not going to watch the AMA’s, its not the same reason why I didn’t watch the billboard awards. It’s actually because my second surgery is going to be on the day of the award show... after that I have two more to go.

No I’m not mad that a Korean artist is performing at an American award show. I’m all for Asians getting proper recognition in the western media. Asians only have a few recognized artist like Far East Movement, Bruno Mars, Cassie Ventura, Steve Aoki, Apl.de.ap, Enrique Iglesias, Nicole Scherzinger, Joseph Hahn, and Mike Shinoda. The problem is most of them are mix, if we are just going off of full Asians it would just be: Far East Movement, Steve Aoki, and Joseph Hahn,,, that’s only three.

Here is my issue, fans of bts are treating this like its a new thing and that they are going to go somewhere in America. Granted, it is at the AMA’s but it is a smaller award show and foreign artist have performed on that stage before. I have also been to the Microsoft Theater three times and the stage is quite small. BTS is just echoing Psy, so its nothing new. And kpop being on American TV is nothing new either. Also, Epik High was the first kpop group to be asked to perform at Coachella that’s also a major achievement

There is probably way more but I’m sure you get the point. Kpop songs have been featured many times in American Shows too. Like I said, I’m not mad at bts going to perform at the AMA’s to get a stage at the AMA’s is not from being invited but from companies and artist basically buying their time on stage. I am angry over because if their fans. There fans are dragging down other groups because of this. It’s really sad that they feel the need to try to seek “western” validation to be okay with being their fan. They went on to say how mnet hates bts just because of the voting thing so bts is going to the AMA’s... the AMA performers are planned months and months in advance, it was probably being planned out about 6 months ago. There fans are also saying that they are mainstream and they are going to be in western media and all that stuff. Lesser known artist/foreign artist have performed multiple times at the AMA’s... it didn’t destroy their carrier but it didn't help it either. Now they did say that they want to perform on an American stage but that doesn’t mean they want to be in the western media or are looking for western validation. They have stated that they are doing this for their fans, not just American but their fans everywhere though... a lot of their American fans think its just for them... okay... They also said that they don't want to be part of western media, multiple times... performing at the AMA’s doesn't equate to being in the western media. On top of that they have also said they are just doing this to represent Koreans and their country. They want absolutely no US debut and they said they don’t have any plans on making an English version or making English songs. I have yet to see that much effort coming from them to speak English too.

So listen... them performing at the AMA’s does not mean they are looking for western validation, want to be part of western media, want to do work in the US, or anything like that. If Asians were represented well in western media and there was enough fans to guarantee a successful American debut I’m sure BTS would have done that along time ago... along with a bunch of kpop groups.

Kpop is to manufactured to even make it big here. Americans are covering kpop and kpop groups because its different from what we have here but its not for America as a whole. Even though you have the groups that make there own music and write there own lyrics at the end of the day they are still manufactured by there companies they are told when to make an album, what to look like, what to do, when to do it, how to do it, etc...

Also, in a way I’m a little happy that mnet cut of the voting right now. I know that BTS fans are saying that's because mnet hates them if anything mnet actually hates bigbang...all YG artist for that matter. I do believe that mnet caught on to everything, to the multiple accounts coming from the same ip address and wifi network. I was on twitter and actually saw fans complain that mnet gave them a warning about the ip address thing. If BTS looses any of the categories I think the fans should be the ones to blame. They caused an unwanted and uncalled for fanwar with exo, they did extreme mass voting and they were going around saying that Exo doesn't deserve AOTY. I’m no where near being an Exo-L... the last song I heard from exo was wolf but for someone to say an group doesn't deserve to win is kind of disrespectful especially if you are going off of your feeling toward the group. I only listen to about four kpop groups and I don't care for a lot of groups but I’m not going to go out of my way just to send hate to that group are say they don't deserve something. Any artist that puts effort into what they do deserves something for there hard work and achievements. No I’m not saying to give every kpop group a “you tried” award, I’m saying that just because you don't like the group doesn't mean that they don't have a right to win an award that your favorite group was nominated for.

Remember... you the fans represent your group. Starting fanwars, making hate speeches, being overly demanding, trying to top other groups by bragging about your groups achievements is not a good look for the fans. I even had a friend that I took to the wings concert with me since I had an extra ticket and she even told me that she stayed away from BTS since there fans are crazy. That’s how most artist get judged... based on fans behaviors. I wish the bts fans would just go back to how they were in 2014-2015.

The pain is starting to comeback and I’m getting sleepy so I’m done with my rant.
