se3oul’s ‘ MINE (FEAT. RM) ’ mv amassed 74.1 MILLION views within the first 24 HOURS of its release, surpassing BLACKPINK’s LISA for the ‘ MOST VIEWED mv by a SOLOIST in 24 HOURS ’
GLORY CHALLENGE !! hoseong did the glory mv dance challenge with many idols including NEW JEANS , BAMBI from 𐌄𐌵𐌍Ꝋ𐌉𐌀 , YEONJUN and TAEHYUN from TXT , JESSI , HOSHI from SEVENTEEN , LE SSERAFIM and MORE.
HOSEONG informed CASUALLY to fans on WEVERSE live that 40% of all REVENUE from his ALBUM SALES are going to GO TOWARDS charities SUPPORTING PALESTINE.
he had gotten particularly DRUNK after filming for SUCHWITA so YOONGI had decided to drop him HOME. cue a drunk HOSEONG weverse live FEATURING yoongi.
he wore a cute LION COSTUME and promoted his ALBUM by doing the CHOREO to GLORY in various PUBLIC spaces. EVERYONE simply thought he was an ORDINARY but SKILLED dancer.
HOSEONG also did a few LIVE performances in LA and NYC TIMES SQAURE with a crowd of HUNDREDS upon hundreds of people PRESENT.
for his LA appearance , ARMYs had actually PREPARED something for HOSEONG ( and BTS ) in return for his hard WORK. the STAFF were in on it as SUDDENLY ‘ love letters ’ would BEGIN playing THROUGH the speakers. EVERYONE there had sung the SONG for him. HE was the FIRST ONE to HEAR the SONG amongst the MEMBERS and he CRIED heavily.
THERE has been many DATING rumours SURROUNDING HOSEONG during this ERA because he MENTIONS his album being a MUSICAL AUTOBIOGRAPHY and it beholds a fairly ROMANTIC song + a BREAKUP song. HE has also been SEEN being CLOSE with one of his DANCERS.
he had come ACROSS comments during certain LIVES about some fans COMPLAINING that the CHOREO for MINE is too EXPLICIT especially with FEMALE dancers , and his response was “ i KEEP seeing these COMMENTS like ‘ ah, OPPA, you shouldn’t BE dancing LIKE THAT with girls. ’ i’m SORRY but am i not GROWN? if you think like that , then MAYBE reevaluate your LIFESTYLE. go OUTSIDE. ” his reaction BLEW UP on twt.
HE’S appeared on MANY shows including DINGO STORY , pixid , the TONIGHT show with JIMMY FALLON , running man , IU’s PALETTE and MORE.
se3oul’s 天下无敌 listening party was a TOTAL HIT. many a-list CELEBRITIES had made an APPEARANCE and top NOTCH journalists sang its PRAISES as the ‘ PARTY of the YEAR ’

a LOT of shirts being TORN OFF too, the stylists kinda HATE him for it LMAO.
ALSO has like SIX different HAIRSTYLES he sports during this ERA alone.
RAPPER outfits…? he gives VERY rapper for his STAGES (especially with THE WAY he seems to FEEL himself, he knows HOW to PUMP UP a crowd).

*ੈ🎄✩‧₊ It’s Christmas - is a holiday special single by the South Korean girl group, Hot Issue released by PetalPond entertainment on December 15 2023. It has a total of two tracks, the title track 'It’s Christmas' and the instrumental version of 'Its Christmas'. The single was made available in a physics and digital copy.
The girls did not promote this song on music shows etc, instead they promoted it through different versions of it, for example, the official music video, a recording version, a live version, and an acapella version on their official platforms.

The era styling was SO GOOD, despite not being promoted on award shows the girls styling in the music video was STUNNING!
Despite being describe as 'PetalPond trying to make a quick buck' this was generally a very fun release from the girls.
In fans perspective the funniest part of this comeback was stellas contributions to the lyrics, 'I don't see you when your sleeping, cause its creepy'
the live and acapella version of the song is definitely the fan favourite version of this song.
the girls spent a lot of time vlogging and filming on variety shows around the time of the release of this song.
EVERYONES fav part of this release was Jieuns breath taking visual showcase, in her teaser, STUNNING.
The girls also covered popular English holiday songs in this time, jingle bell rock, snowman, last Christmas, and so many more.
Only Stella (for her one line^) was credited for lyrics.
Soomin commented how she didnt feel very attached to this song because she didnt grow up celebrating Christmas, later going into detail about their Christmas activity as a group and how they made her feel.
The girls did a secret santa between the six of them, Petal getting Soomin, Soomin getting Melody, Melody getting Sooyeon, Sooyeon getting Jieun, Jieun getting Stella and Stella getting Petal.
The gifts consisted mostly of gift cards and clothing. Except for Melody who got Sooyeon a brand new set of reeds for her clarinet.
Jieun cut her hair back to the short shoulder length bob she had a few comebacks back.
Petal was dotted on a lot in the promotions, especially the dance bts dance performance video, due to her ankle injury she got last comeback.

I wrote this three days ago.
These are just my thoughts as I continue to process this very pivotal moment in BTS’s career.
It has only been ten days since the “hiatus/it’s not a hiatus” announcement was made.
Jimin said, please just take their words as they are. I hear you Jiminie.
But my brain is a mess.
They were too somber during the Festa dinner. Especially toward the end. They say it was filmed about a month ago, like May 20.
We saw them last week on the music shows. Some time has passed sinced filming Festa dinner. They looked good and dare I say happy? Joon’s been spotted out of the country the last few days. Damn you people and your inability to not post that sort of shit. But anyway...he’s back now.
Something major happened to change the direction they had hoped to take this year. Six months ago, everything was in high gear in anticipation of COVID restrictions being rolled back:
Remembering some of the things they’ve been saying since the AMA’s and Jingle Bell Rock red carpet interviews last year:
Tumblr media
They all blinked like their eyeballs were about to fall out. They were thrilled to be spilling tea about a tour and new music...
Now I wonder if they were ready to finish off an album of all new songs, or if they had planned this anthology all along. Regardless, they could have pulled off a sold out world tour with PROOF the anthology. ARMY WANTS TO SEE THEM!!! IT’S BEEN ALMOST 3 FUCKING YEARS!
I think they were also working on or at least considering solo stuff too and I think they had it all timed out how things would just fall into place. I think that’s what they said about the MOTS tour, then taking a break for solo work was really their plan with a definite timeline.
COVID cancelled all that. And now the military service has left the timeline non-existent because they still have no definite answers. Or maybe they do and the timeline now extends way into the future.
The timing of all this is just.... I want to take your words as you say them Namjoon.
But six months ago, you all seemed to be preparing for a world tour.
I think once they learned about their military status in late April or May I think that’s when Jimin said OK I better get this done if I wanna do it because he did say during the Festa dinner that he just started working on it. He said he wanted to do it properly.
So I think all of this just happened quickly since April and I think it’s just a hard thing to work through psychologically for them, especially after having everything first snatched away by COVID and now this. Please, God, please let them make their way through this and be stronger than ever as a group. They have so much to give the world.
We know we’ve heard both sides of the military service debate regarding BTS’ service and how many people (even within their own country) think they deserve to be exempted because of everything they bring to the table already to their country. BTS contributes billions of dollars to their country’s economy.
I am not Korean or live in Korea and I will not state my opinion here about what I think should happen. I am just stating the different sides of the coin for consideration.
The ripple effect will be profound though. From the small companies that create the actual physical albums and their packaging, the print shops that create the photocards we all cherish, to the hundreds on staff that work for them when the giant machine is in motion preparing for those world tours: the stage production crews, the video production crews, the dancers, the stylists, the wardrobe people, the marketing/promotional people, the administrative people who pay the bills...the taxes the corporation pays...will be gone if revenues of the company goes down. We already saw the immediate effect on HYBE’s bottomline the moment they said the word “hiatus.” That’s instant impact. I hope it was a wake up call to some individuals in their government.
I WROTE THIS THREE DAYS AGO. Before people started sending out “official statements” to BTS to curtail this hiatus.
After the Festa dinner, 24 year-old Jungkook jumped on V Live the next morning, washed his dishes and soothed the stock market...if that’s not impact I don’t know what is.
A prosperous country is better equipped and has more resources to handle challenges such as high unemployment, social programs and housing crises than a poor country. Even if they can’t solve the issues they can at least afford to argue about them. In a poor country, everyone is poor. A poor country just tries to keep their people alive and not be invaded. I just stated all of those concepts very simply but in reality they are very, very complex issues.
We also hear the other side where it is a “right of passage” for men in South Korea to do their military service. It is very honorable and patriotic and many many people hold those values in the highest degree. Also, many are against an exemption for them especially those who have already served. Or some are against preferential treatment of any kind.
South Korea and North Korea are still in a state of war with each other. That’s the reality. I cannot find the source but I read that there’s been over 70,000 exemptions from duty since the 1970′s when conscription was put into law. I would go ahead and venture to say these 7 men fall into any of the categories of consideration these previous 70,000 are in that gained an exemption.
Both arguments for enlistment or for exemption are very valid to those who fall on either side. Each individual member of BTS is capable of deciding on their own what is the best for them personally or what is important to them personally.
We all know that many people, men and women, thrive in the military. It’s their life’s calling. But we’ve also heard the horror stories of psychological impairment that can result in individuals exposed to the trauma of war especially those injured in combat.
I fully believe that governments need to maintain their militaries to the highest degree. Look at Ukraine...what I thought would be unthinkable in this day and age is reality...anything is possible.
I fully respect everyone who serves and I am so thankful and grateful that they do. I can understand how this whole situation for them is stressful. I can understand how Namjoon and the other members are feeling about wanting BTS to have a legacy. I can see how he is mixed up. I hope he clears his mind and finds his resolve.
Now that they’ve served in diplomatic capacities, now that they’ve represented their country beyond just music, it’s understandable they don’t want to be just a K-pop group.
The lack of a definite decision over their military service from the government, what it would consist of and the timing of it really messed them up this year. And I think Namjoon’s growing state of conflict dovetailed with the inability to make a plan for the rest of the year and beyond and just threw everything out of whack. But maybe all this have been decided and we, the fans, just don’t know what it is yet.
So perhaps there’s yet another source of distress for them. Maybe the results of the South Korean election, which took place March 9 of this year, took them by surprise, not being what they expected. It was a very close election, the results were 49% to 48% with the popular vote being 16,394,815 to 16,147,738.
During the Festa dinner Namjoon said, “am I speaking as BTS, or am I speaking my own personal preferences?” Perhaps the things Namjoon is thinking now are very controversial. Maybe they all have different views on what is happening in their country and are affected by it differently and that can cause conflict. He wants BTS to send a message to the world and right now I think that message is very, very acutely negative toward the South Korean government and I can see how much conflict that could cause.
I wonder if they really did think they were going to get some sort of exemption or something else that fit more with their ability to carry out a world tour etc. I mean all the things they said about planning for a world tour happened before the election and maybe they were optimistic that the other party was going to win. But the other party didn’t and now things seem to be drastically different in their country.
We wonder why JK is covering up some of his previous tattoo work. Jungkook was on a mission to “save” his arm. Maybe he’s felt those images did not represent him any longer. I wonder what caused him to reconsider some of them. He covered up some of the most Korean-centric images: the tiger and the three bars.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This current government does not represent him, Jeon Jungkook, as the Korean individual that he is..anyway those are just my thoughts. We don’t know why he changed them, only he knows.
Perhaps they are playing a card...they said it’s hard to know what to choose, one day they’re here and the next they aren’t...so they played this card. Now let’s see what happens. Gambling with their future as BTS with the government of their own country. Balls of steel I tell you.
I WROTE THIS THREE DAYS AGO!!!!
We are hearing outsiders claim there might be disenchantment with HYBE America. From what I can gather, HYBE America is owned by HYBE Corporation. HYBE Labels is the music division of HYBE Corporation. BigHit Entertainment, BTS’s label, is a subsidiary of HYBE Labels and operates independently from HYBE corporation. HYBE America and HYBE Labels are two different companies. So I am not sure what influence HYBE America could be having on BTS.
They were upset because they could not tell us all these things that have influenced this 180 degree turnaround from six months ago, of them looking forward to a world tour this year. The rules of the world weighing them down.
I am listening, Jimin, when you said “just take our words as they are.” I trust you.
I am going to wait for whenever BTS comes back together as a group, whether that is next year or five years from now and until then I will support all 7 of them in their endeavors.
Like everyone else, I will be sitting here to see how it all unfolds with each day.

I'm listening to Jack in the Box right now and it's hitting me again how badly Hoseok needed to make this album. You really have to listen to the songs in order. Leaving aside the subject matter for a moment, sonically I don't think JITB is very accessible for the average pop listener. The sound is mostly old school boom bap hip hop. It's gritty, dated, and... unrefined. Most of the songs on JITB sound very unprocessed in my ears. This isn't to say the production is sub-par, on the contrary the production on tracks like What If, Arson, More, Pandora's Box, and STOP is what makes the tracks listenable for many people I'm sure.
Tumblr media
(Cozy Hobi for a mood break)
Because on some of those tracks especially in the first half of the album, Hobi is a bit... unpolished, his vocals sound like there's little reverb or any processing on them at all, his rap flows are often irregular with rapid switch-ups even within the same phrase and it sometimes sounds disjointed. It sounds like he's trying to get out of himself. Like he's actually making an effort to do something, which is very different from how Hobi typically sounds on tracks for me (in Hope World and in BTS's wider discography with the exception of Tear). If that makes sense. Like even when he's obviously trying for a liberated and unshackled sound like in More, he instead comes across, sonically to me at least, as... restrained.
That sense of inhibition is nowhere to be found in Arson, but I feel it everywhere in More. I felt very frustrated the first time I heard More because it's a rock-influenced song, and in rock the last thing you want to be is inhibited. But during the chorus it felt like he couldn't quite let himself go, which felt very at odds with the head banging rhythm. And lyrically it didn't match either - the guy is saying he wants more and yet he sounds a bit guilty or unsure about asking for more. You get me? The music video also pissed me off a bit for that reason. The whole thing felt very contained. Boxed in. (no pun intended) But after listening to the whole album with Arson at the end, I can't believe I'm saying this, but it works. In fact it not only works, it's perfect. The whole thing is so perfect I could scream with delight at how perfect this album is.
Tumblr media
(He's got long fingers... I wonder if he'll ever try pink or red nail polish)
I'm very curious to know in what order he wrote and recorded these songs. I mean when he got the ideas for each track. If the songs towards the end of the album were recorded later or earlier than the tracks at the start.
Hobi comes into his own as the album progresses. By the time we get to the second half of the album in songs like What If, Safety Zone, and Future, effortless Hobi is back. Yes these songs are 'poppier' tunes, but even Hobi's flow is more settled on these tracks, as though they've taken time to really develop. On Arson, Hobi really does sound like he'll gladly burn everything down. Deadly, unhinged, brilliant Hobi is felt in full force in that song. The music video for Arson is obviously low budget, or maybe 'super indie' is a more diplomatic way of putting it, lol, but it still feels like something Hobi would do if left entirely to his own devices.
And while we're on the subject, it pains me that Hobi's JITB has no physical CD box with a booklet or something - anything to make it feel like an actual album when you receive it in the mail or when you buy it from a store. That tiny piece of cardboard for the Weverse album is pathetic. And I'd say the same thing to Hobi's face even if he told me in plain Korean that this is exactly what he wanted for his album. I'd be like the staff telling Jin it's a bad idea to leave photocards out of your album, lol, and I'm saying this as someone who doesn't collect albums, photocards, vynils, etc, and as someone who is frankly in awe of the sound quality on Weverse Albums (it's legit better than Apple Music guys). I hope we see physical releases for the rest of the guys' solo albums, but as I said, I wish Hobi had this too.
*
I really like Jack in the Box. This is the album I loved so much I impulsively re-opened my Tumblr to gush about it. Writing about JITB is the first post I made on new BPP. It's been about 4 months since Hobi shared his work and art with us, and I still can't stop listening to it. I stand by every word.

it's also prioritizing the korean market because the shipping costs double the cost of the 'album' and I think I have read you can't order it from the US shop not that it would've changed anything for me since I'm in europe, but the US armys are a big chuck and not allowing the purchase from the US shop with less shipping is a slap in the face and so many people won't be able to afford it, especially younger armys having to get parents' permission.
Also 'owning' an album digitally means shit because if they decide to close the servers you are left with nothing.
And knowing hybe, the app will crash every 3 hours too.
It's such a disappointment.
I wanted jimin to have a physical, he was so happy about promise CD :( and him going to music shows and perform his songs :(
And without bringing up other hybe groups, they literally just released an anthology with CDs full of songs 90% already has on other CDs.
They're a joke.
The shipping prices are certainly a way to scare off any potential customer. I wasn't planning on buying any album in the foreseeable future, but if I was, having to pay twice or more the amount of the album for shipping and for the item to be just a photocard, you bet I'm not buying anything no matter how much I wanted to "support" anyone. I think armys and of course hoseok stans will still buy.
Being honest with you... I don't know how much of a market BTS still has in Korea. Especially rapline, with the exception of Yoongi (who just happens to be VERYYY strategic about his collabs), there's never been too much of an audience for them.
I agree with everything, yeah. Hoseok still has to release the title tho, so maybe things will shift for the better the closer we get to the 15th. At least I hope so. Seeing the way Nayeon's solo debut was handled vs whatever hybe is doing... it's just really sad.
Speaking of jokes...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Right now, it just looks like they're not investing money or resources in BTS anymore.

KPOP FANDOM 16.11.2023
Hello Greener! I got the wonderful chance to talk to Dan during our 1-to-1 tutorial, and he did unfortunately give me a bunch of wonderful advice on what I should explore next! and today we will be talking about FANDOM. Fandom is a subculture where people establish a sense of community around a piece of media based on shared interests, like a band or music group.
Farrar, L. (2010, December 31). 'Korean Wave' of pop culture sweeps across Asia. Retrieved from CNN: http://edition.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/asiapcf/12/31/korea.entertainment/index.html
I feel like I should be very familiar with the world of FANDOM. I should say I have been in so many fandoms over the past 21 years of my life, each as a video game, cartoon, musician, or multiple musicians. I should know the inside pretty well, but somehow I also don't. Many of the fandoms have their own way of operating, but one thing for sure that every fandom must have is their love for their interests and the way they show their love for them.
But today I will talk about one fandom in particular, the KPOP FANDOM. Let's be real, they are very scary. I am in one myself. But let's talk about the extent to which a K-pop fan would go to buy their favorite album. I talk over millions.
Tumblr media
Hanteo (Korea physical album chart) - 2023 yearly chart
As you can see, BTS has sold over 3 million physical records, but why do fans do so? So I researched the advantages of purchasing albums and how people appreciate each record. So, initially, to show their support for their favorite singer, album sales contribute to chart rankings, which are extremely important in the K-pop industry. Fans may purchase many copies of an album in order to help their favorite band attain better chart places, which can lead to more recognition and success.
but truly the main reason would be, K-pop albums sometimes include exclusive extras such as picture cards, posters, lyric booklets, or special editions that fans collect. Collecting these products becomes a passion and a way to connect with the artists. To be honest, I also collected them, so PLEASE allow me to show you my gorgeous K-pop photocard collection.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
am I shame of it? yes a lot I have a music complex, and listening to K-pop is my biggest complex ever.
Fans collect photocards because it allows them to feel a closer connection to their favorite idols. Having these small photos feels like having a piece of the idol with them. Additionally, rare or limited-edition photocards often become valuable collector's items, with fans willing to pay significant amounts of money to obtain them. This demonstrates the high value that fans place on these items.
For example, some of the band members might not be as famous as other members, so the value of the card would plump down as not a lot of people would want them, but however you can sell your card or trade them for the members you like, Furthermore, the act of trading photocards with other fans not only fosters a sense of community but also allows fans to connect with others who share their passion for the same idol or group.
When I say they are fans who spend more than $1,000 on their collection, I mean it. one of my friend who have been obessed with kpop way before me for many years, their collection are now worth up to $1,000, GOT ME THINKING WHAT. but could see myself become of those fan with $1000 worth collection now, its getting out of hand. heres a tweet of a fan getting into the word of collecting.
Tumblr media
P.S, PC shorted for Photocard.
Collecting photocards is not only a tangible way for fans to demonstrate their support but also a form of personal expression. Fans often choose to display their photocards in creative ways, such as creating collages or decorating their personal spaces. By doing so, they are proudly showcasing their love and admiration for their favorite idols to others. Additionally, the act of collecting photocards can be seen as a form of emotional investment, as fans spend time and effort in acquiring and organizing their collections as a way to further connect with their idols.  By including random photocards in K-pop albums, record labels create a sense of excitement and anticipation among fans. This strategy encourages fans to purchase multiple copies of the same album in the hopes of obtaining different photocards and completing their collections. As a result, album sales are significantly boosted, as fans are motivated to buy more copies than they would otherwise. This not only benefits the idols and their record labels financially but also increases the album's popularity and visibility in the music industry. Ultimately, collecting photocards is a way for fans to express their support for their favorite idols, connect with other fans, and enjoy the visual and aesthetic aspects of K-pop culture.
The power of Kpop fans cannot be underestimated. Their dedication and loyalty towards their favorite artists can translate into incredible market success. With just a simple image of a Kpop idol, fans are eager to purchase merchandise, attend concerts, and support their idols in any way possible. This unique marketing strategy has proven to be a lucrative opportunity for both artists and companies.
When it comes to collecting, these also have to do with a sense of loyalty. Fans require specific goods or activities to fulfill their fan identity and lifestyle. Ownership or involvement with the idol is regarded as part of devotion to the idol. Loyalty is then demonstrated by spending on idol-related things or attending idol-related activities (Kirana, 2021). It becomes a way for fans to proudly display their devotion and loyalty to their favorite idols and to distinguish themselves as dedicated fans within the community. not only that most of fan tend to have a Fear of missing out or known as "FOMO", which cause them to do anything when their idol do something new.
In this way, collecting photocards serves as a form of self-expression and a means of reinforcing one's fan identity. It allows fans to proudly display their devotion and loyalty to their favorite idols and distinguish themselves as dedicated fans within the community. I do have totally agree that owner these Photocard, make me feel closer to my idol and need to support them by collecting these make have the sense that have my own loyalty to them. its also a fan expensive hobby to have.
Kirana, G. Ardhya. "FANDOM E. O. F. P. D. T. B. A. A. C. S. (2021). Advanced International Journal of Business Entrepreneurship and SMEs 3 no.'
and lastly, when you purchase an albums, some of them might come with the access to special fan events, concerts, or meet-and-greet opportunities. Fans may buy albums in hopes of gaining access to these exclusive experiences, to get closer to their KPOP IDOL. These special fan events, concerts, and meet-and-greets are highly coveted among KPOP fans as they provide a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to interact with their favorite idols. The chance to see their idols up close, hear them perform live, and possibly even have a personal interaction creates a sense of excitement and connection that is unparalleled.
Changbin, Stray Kids Fancall event with Fans (2022)
It is these exclusive experiences that truly make buying albums a worthwhile investment for dedicated fans who want to immerse themselves in the world of KPOP and forge a deeper bond with their idols.
I think the K-pop industry just really knows what they are doing when it comes to their industry and how to drive fans. I am one of their victims of capitalism, but I am gladly buying them TT. But it also got me thinking if it truly about the music itself?
Do people still listen to CDs? Or did they just buy these albums for all of these collectibles and leave the CD in the dust?
I saw on Twitter the other day that in South Korea Street, people bought a bunch of K-pop albums to get all the collectibles inside the albums and trashed a whole 100 albums on the street. with no collectable inside.
Tumblr media
I'm more disappointed in fans for trashing these in the street. It seems that the appeal of collectibles has overshadowed the importance of the CDs themselves. I asked Abunch, a K-pop fan, if they actually listened to the CD they bought; it turned out that some of them didn't even own a CD player; they just collected the album and still listened to the song on the streaming platform instead. This trend highlights a shift in the way music is consumed and appreciated in the digital age. The value of physical CDs has become more about their aesthetic appeal and their status as a collector's item than their functionality. It raises the question of whether the physical format of music will eventually become obsolete as streaming platforms continue to dominate the industry. Nonetheless, it is disheartening to see these CDs discarded in the streets, as it demonstrates a lack of appreciation for the music itself.
this post is kind of me geeking out BUT PLEASE LET ME BE. anyways thanks for coming to my Ted Talk and see you next post!

So earlier, I watched "Bangbang Con" one of BTS' Festa celebration for their 10th anniversary. It was my first ever BangBang Con as a baby army. I laughed, danced, sing, and cried a lot earlier but overall I really had fun.
Tumblr media
I've only been an army for a year now, but this is my 2nd Festa since I started stanning them around May 2022, and was able to witness June 2022 Festa where I thought they're going to break up as a band/will be on hiatus. (TW: June 2022 Festa dinner)
Tumblr media
I really did cry that time during their June 2022 Festa dinner even though I was a fan for a month then, because I thought they're breaking up for good - only to realize that they have to embark on their journey as solo musicians, even only for a little while, then to complete their mandatory military service, and hopefully come back stronger together by 2025.
I never really expected this from myself though because when I was younger, I wasn't really into anything KPop. I don't hate it at that time don't get me wrong, I just didn't see myself liking it plus I always thought I'll never understand korean anyways - but fast forward to now, I can read hangul (I only understand the translation of basic words, I still have to learn the language yet), and a big simp for Bangtan Sonyeondan (also known as BTS).
Tumblr media
(L-R) Kim Namjoon, Kim Seokjin, Kim Taehyung, Min Yoongi, Park Jimin, Jeon Jungkook, Jung Hoseok
As soon as I got into KPop which 2 of my bffs highly influenced me with, I started collecting their merch such as albums, photocards, photofolios - I am a big Jeon Jungkook bias (my biases are Jungkook and Yoongi, bias wrecker is Taehyung) to the point I even bought this exact Nike Jordan shoes he was wearing from their PTD concert!
Tumblr media
I also downloaded important KPop apps such as WeVerse, VLive (we miss you), Stationhead, BTS In The Seom (which I am very much addicted to before) - voting apps even! I also bought fan merch items such as shirts, jackets, bucket hats, and bags. I attend cup sleeve events sometimes, then I got into Twitter BNS (I don't really sell though, I only buy/trade photocards), and the most vital part of all KPop life - STAN TWITTER. (Yes, the profile below is my stan twt account)
Tumblr media
Yes I am on army stan twitter. It is the best and the worst part of being a KPop stan. Most days they love you, most days they hate you but on both days I'm paid though HAHAHAHA.
My friend who has been a KPop stan ever since she was a little girl told me not to enter stan twitter because it can really be toxic - which is true as I've witnessed it already. But one of the perks of being on stan twitter is that it feels like a community, a safe space for you to declare how much you love and adore your ult bias group (mine being BTS), and just tweet your appreciation towards your fandom/favorite group. Also, to support them by voting, buying, and streaming their old/new releases.
Yes, there are days where in stan twitter can be too much, but at the end of the day it's still a safe space for me to express how much I appreciate my idols without being judged by people who hates KPop or people who aren't really into it.
So, going back - I watched BangBang Con earlier and I cried a lot because I realized how much I love BTS. I already know BTS way back, but I didn't become a fan until last year. I do feel some regret not knowing them when I was younger, but you know what they say, you meet them when you need them the most.
The relationship between me and BTS may be parasocial, but BTS did help me a lot. So let me tell you how I met them.
Last year, around May, I started using Facebook reels whenever I get bored watching KDramas or any series in particular. I deleted my TikTok app then so I decided to just watch through FB reels just to get me entertained until I have the energy to continue watching whichever series I was watching at the time. I stumbled across BTS videos a lot but I always scroll up because I wasn't a fan then.
Until I came across a clip of this VLive of Taehyung, Jimin, and JHope eating (this was after their Permission To Dance concert in Las Vegas) on FB reels laughing on a "Yoongi, marry me" comment.
Tumblr media
The "Yoongi marry me" line has been a long standing inside joke of BTS. At first, since I wasn't really familiar with any of the members, when JHope read the comment and the maknaes (youngest) laughed while they were eating, I really thought he's Yoongi - until I was able to memorize their features and names, I realized that Yoongi isn't even on this Ppyong live.
I slowly became interested then with BTS. Whenever I scroll through my FB reels or Instagram reels, a lot of BTS clips from their shows such as Bon Voyage, DalBang (Run BTS), In The Soop, Bangtan Bomb, and etc. were already plaguing my account. Not until I saw this POV edit of Jungkook using PSY and Yoongi's "That That" that really got me locked into BTS.
Tumblr media
Since then, I already became a hardcore Jungkooker - saving his photos and videos left and right, trying to get to know details about him by researching about him - but mostly I got to know him by watching clips on Facebook/Instagram reels.
Since most of Bangtan videos and clips are really funny, whenever I get curious as to what happened to the whole thing - I immediately search it on Youtube. Until my friend told me to watch "Run BTS", bangtan's variety show. At the time, it was only available on VLive, but you can watch it now in Youtube ;). Since I started watching DalBang, I fell in love with the tannies more. VMinHope opened the door, Jungkook closed it, but BTS locked it.
Until then, I became one of BTS' biggest fan. There was never a day where I don't talk about BTS or go crazy about them especially when they release new songs. I always see to it that I'd buy their new albums (of course I save up for it or make sure I still have extra money to buy one), and watch their content - maybe not on a daily, but whenever I have the time or whenever I feel like it.
I'm not being OA, but BTS really did help me heal a lot. I know I did all the work, but the tannies really became my inspiration to do better and be better. I know they're just 7 men from South Korea who doesn't even know I exist, I wasn't even there when they debuted in 2013, I can't even attend Min Yoongi's AgustD tour in Bangkok at all because it got sold out immediately, I haven't watched them (OT7) perform live, I do have 10 years of content to catch up on - but the more I got to know bangtan, the more I adore them. The more I listen to their songs and understand the meaning behind each lyric, the more I love them.
I cried a lot while watching BangBang Con because they made me feel like I have them to lean onto. When the world seems to big and wide and I feel alone, they make me feel that I'm not alone. When my emotions get the best of me, they can turn all those feelings around.
I may not see them or touch them or even talk to them, but I hope they know how many people they've saved. And I'm one of them.
BTS will forever hold a special place in my heart. Yeah, I may not have been there during their debut in 2013, I may not have experienced their HYYH era, or Wings era, or HYYH era, or Butter era - but as Yoongi said, "don’t feel regretful that you weren’t there since our debut. the day when you first met us, is the day we debuted."
Bangtan Sonyeondan saved me and healed me. And I will forever be grateful for them.
Borahamnida! Apobangpo! 💜

The Economics of Being a K-Pop Fan
K-pop, or Korean pop music, has become an international phenomenon and a multi-billion-dollar industry. It has also become a strong passion of mine. With an assignment all about relating economics to my everyday life, there is no better topic to cover than the economics found in the typical activities of K-pop fans.
To start, the costs of supporting my favorite K-pop artists can be quite steep. The explicit cost is the money spent on K-pop merchandise, ranging from CDs to posters to VIP concert tickets. The implicit cost is the time I could have spent on studying for midterms or doing homework. Even so, the benefits outweigh the costs in my opinion. Connecting with a community of like-minded individuals, feeling peaks of joy from seeing my favorite k-pop groups perform live, and making memories that last a lifetime are just a small fraction of the benefits I experience from funding this hobby.
Additionally, trading is a common practice among K-pop fans. Upon purchasing a physical album, fans can receive random photocards of their favorite idols. However, there is no guarantee that one will get their favorite idol. So, fans will coordinate with others to trade photocards and satisfy everyone’s demand for their ideal card. In addition, the rarer a photocard is, the higher its demand is and resellers can proceed to market them at a much higher price. Some cards may even resell for as much as $500-800.
The economic activities in K-pop are limited to just the fans; K-pop artists also express economic concepts in their songs. “N.O.” by BTS is about the emotional toll of pursuing perfect grades in a country where education entirely defines one’s life course. When education comes to mind, most people think of the many benefits that come with it. This includes higher chances of employment and having access to higher-paying jobs. However, this song encourages the audience to explore the negative externalities of education, which is implied in the high rates of suicide, mental fatigue and illness impacting South Korea’s labour market. This raises the question of how much society is benefitting from the heavy emphasis on education.
Overall, K-pop is filled with various economic concepts, sometimes in ways that aren’t always obvious. Eonomics is more than just simply spending money on a good; it encompasses all the implications and greater societal impacts that ccme with that.

A month after the successful release of BTS' first-ever Japanese version album "No More Dream", they released another album on July 16, 2014..This "Boy In Luv" album was separately released for their Japanese fans..And just like their previous Japanese version album, "Boy In Luv" has only 3 songs namely "Boy In Luv", "N.O" and "Just One Day".. These songs were Japanese versions of their original Korean songs..This album has 3 editions. The Regular Edition with only a CD in it and the Limited Edition A and Limited Edition B that includes a DVD along with the CD..This album doesn't have the usual BTS photobook as a freebie, but comes with a photocard instead..

Not too familiar with Tumblr but I've started this blog to try and find more people to trade album goods with! Please don't hesitate to message me if you see anything you'd like to trade for (I'm gonna post pictures very soon!!). I usually only collect from Produce 101 season 2 boys, but I do have some other idol's merch here and there. :)

The reason why Proof and be didn’t sold that well for bts albums is because tgey didn’t have more version at an ok proce. They were expensive.
From my knowlodge bts became even more popular in Korea because of Dynamite.
Dynamite was their first billboard #1 and their first Grammy nomination. Those were big achievements and more people knew about BTS after that, but something being popular doesn't mean that it's loved.
I know a lot of songs that are popular but it doesn't mean I love the artist. BTS lost a huge part of the fanbase that loved them. That supported them with tooth and nail. Last I saw a few days ago they aren't even winning against stray kids or something in that online voting. They lost that part of the Korean fandom, the one that would vote for them and would buy 2 million albums. I know it's stupid but that voting thing??? nobody could catch up to BTS when it came to online votes before 2020. You can even see the amount of fansites that have stopped being active after 2020.
Obviously I don't have a scientific paper and cold facts about this, all I have is what I saw happening online and Korean fans weren't pleased with butter and PTD. I don't remember my universe because that's like a part of BTS story that I completely ignored because of the secondhand embarrassment, but I know butter and PTD weren't as "loved" as dynamite was. I saw a lot of fans being disappointed about the change in the way they interacted with fans, and the lack of activities in Korea, the full English songs that on top of it all were bad songs. Most recent, they were about to do that Busan concert in an empty lot. So many people complained and it raised controversy so they changed it. I remember the tweets of the Korean fans comparing Las Vegas with its pretty purple lights and the huge buildings and the dancing waters event vs. the empty lot in Busan.
Maybe if you're new to the fandom, especially dynamite new, these things won't come across as too obvious for you, and I'm not trying to convince you either or anything like that but they did lose a huge part of that hardcore fandom that would've placed them top 10 in melon with their solo songs, and it really is not about the price of the albums. This is a fandom that spends thousands on photocards alone, the album price was not the actual issue.
