“I know he remembers.” Buffy pursed her lips, but Willow barreled on, heedless. “Nowhere does it say that animal possession causes memory loss. And Giles was all weird and reluctant about giving me the right books, so I bet he knows too and is just keeping Xander’s secret! For some reason!”

“I’m not saying you’re not right, Willow, I trust you… but maybe we should leave it alone.”

“He was being a jerk! To, to us—“, to me, Buffy heard, and winced, “—and now he’s lying to us about it, it’s not fair!”

“He’s probably too embarrassed to tell the truth. I mean, I would be. Imagine you remember… you know. Poor Herbert.”

At that, Willow shuddered. “Poor little piggy… also, eurgh.”

“Yeah. And he’s probably not feeling so great about how he was acting overall. Especially to you.” And if she was honest, Buffy would prefer to just forget how he’d acted with her, too.

“So, what, he’s just too much of a coward to apologize?”

Buffy sighed. “Yeah, I guess. But hey!”

“Hmm?”

“You can still keep it in mind. You know, if you ever need blackmail material…”

Willow hesitated, but her grin gave her away.

Thanks for the asks! I'll answer both. First, Tara/Willow:

Willow and Tara were beautiful together (there scenes in New Moon Rising and Who Are You? are some of the most touching moments in BtVS). Now, I was always more about Buffy than Willow as a character, so as a result I usually had stronger feelings about Buffy's ships (in both good and bad ways) - however, I loved Willow/Oz, was first unhappy that he left - but then Tara came and I loved Willow/Tara. It was interesting how the romances of the mains complemented each other - Buffy's romances were always epic and full of drama, Xander's were playful and funny (until they also ended up being full of drama), and Willow's were adorable and super cute *(until they also ended up being full of drama).

Now, the ship did have some very 'problematic' moments in season 6 (Willow's spells) - but so did every other ship in Buffyverse. Relationships are problematic! People are flawed. So what.

*Except for the Willow/Xander thing in season 3 (why?!) and Willow/Kennedy (bleh).

If it looks a bit weird that I say I love them but also that the impact and story is more interesting, I'm not putting down the ship with the latter - I just think that, as lovely Tara and Willow were together, the fact they were one of the first major same sex couples made them have a bigger impact than they'd have if the show was being made in 2021.

For Trip/Simmons (Trimmons):

There was nothing wrong with the possibility of Trip/Simmons, if it was real life it would be perfectly fine - but, as written, I just never felt that it was gonna be anything more than a minor flirtation on the show. Fitzsimmons was such an obvious OTP material ever since 1x06, and it looked like Trip/Simmons was introduced mostly to make Fitz jealous and make him realize his feelings for Jemma. It was like a faux-love triangle that never really happened, and I was relieved that they didn't go into a full blown love triangle there.
