in season seven, i need a parallel where eddie gets a call from buck, smiles widely as he answers, then immediately drops the smile when he hears buck crying. then i need eddie to immediately go to the loft and be there for buck.
so i know we don't technically know if the shooting was supposed to be the start of canon buddie, like at the end of the day, we're just theorising based on what oliver's said (though i do think it makes the most sense just given, y'know, everything) but now i'm thinking about s5 buddie and how something about their relationship just felt so fucking tender????????? like, the tone was obviously much heavier in s5 and, as such, their moments were much more serious/emotional as opposed to lighthearted but there really was just so much affection underneath every single one of their scenes, y'know???? and when i think of fanon buddie - the buddie i write in fics set in some nebulous canon compliant timeline - it's always the version of them we get during that season. the ones who are undoubtedly a family and have seen the worst of each other and just see each other full stop and are there to pick up each other's pieces when they need to. there was just this overall feel that they were Going Somewhere with it all and i really, really do think in another timeline it would've been the slow burn build up of all time 🥹
Buck and Maddie’s sibling dynamic is so precious to me like they truly deserve the world and more those two they have been through it with their shitty childhood and shittt parents and yet still they are protective over each other now as adults and they love each other and are just again actively present for one another time and time again
As a buddie endgame truther that also ships bucktaylor S5 makes me so mad bc what the hell were they even doing. They shut down buddie. Ok. But then instead of building up bucktaylor as the endgame couple they literally just spent the whole season trying to prove why they don't work. So like what was the point. You're throwing away both endgame possibilities for Buck at once. The two developed love interests. Literally why. I can understand pushing bucktaylor bc buddie wasn't allowed, I can understand breaking up bucktaylor bc buddie was going to happen, but my mind literally cannot comprehend not doing either bc it makes no sense at all. Were they just hoping everyone would immediately fall in love with Lucy as soon as she showed up and forget the love interests that had actual development? No really bc that's the only explanation I can think of and it's just so foolish. Like bro did you really believe that was going to happen? Really?
Ok, but when S7 comes and Buck and Eddie are working out at the station and they start talking and Buck says something like “Natalia… she’s perfect for me, right? Good, kind… she’s beautiful. So I should stick it out, right? I should stay with her even though I don’t love her.” And Eddie looks at him with the softest smile saying “I’ve been down that road. I don’t recommend it.”
