BUDGET TRAVEL Travel is my absolute PASSION. There’s nothing quite like the excitement of travelling some place new, the joy of seeing new sight, and experiencing new things. But I also love to get a BARGAIN! For me, you can’t talk about budget travel without camping flashing into your mind! Now I realise that camping isn’t for everyone, but don’t knock it until you’ve tried it. Here’s why I love camping: *it’s a close to nature holiday - you can hear the sounds of nature around you which is super relaxing. *it’s CHEAP! *you can make it as primitive or glamp-y as you like! Add electric, furniture, technology, or take it right back to basics with a simple field and camp fire, it’s up to you! *it’s fabulous for family bonding time. *garden camping can be equally exciting (and FREE!). *there are also many wild camping spots where you can camp for FREE (just be respectful 🌎) .*kids LOVE it! *the benefits of being in nature are immense for your mental health. *cooking becomes super exciting when you add fire or a bbq, and everyone gets involved (which also means you save money on eating out too) *you don’t have to travel very far to feel like you’re in a whole new place. Of course, the equipment you might need for camping requires an initial investment, and in the interest of money saving, it may be a good idea to trial camping in a pre erected tent for a few nights to see if you like it before you splurge on lots of items. But if you do decide to try it, you can use your tent and equipment again and again. You can also start with just the essentials, and little bits as and when you can afford them. I always find that there are loads of cheap tents and second hand camping items for sale too, so less waste and more money in your pocket. All you really need to get started is a tent, somewhere to cook, somewhere to sleep, and a place to go! One of our favourite campsites nr Bala, North Wales commented last night in how the river there had practically dried up with the recent weather. Really hope yesterday's blast gave them (and all the reservoirs!) a helping hand. Anyone know any other great campgrounds next to water? They're my absolute favourite and I'm scheduling in the rest of our trips this week. All recommendations welcome.
