So I just watched the finale (aka the bughead scenes and nothing else), bc it's 1 am and I have nothing better to do. I still freak out every time I watch it. How is it possible? I've watched that scene 1000x (+) and I'm still freaking.

Honestly I'm starting to lose hope to ever get Varchie back. First KJ saying he and Lili have a lot scenes together, then writers changing Betty's personality so she can become Archie's doormat and now this Betty's interview about ba having a emotional scene... Seriously their fans are so sure ba is not only happening post time jump but for the whole season and I- I don't know, I swear I'm not a troll but I'm really starting to lose hope. I don't even want to think about it because I'm a huge Varchie fan and like I could survive a few episodes of those two cheaters dating, but the whole season? Pls, tell me ba fans are just being cocky and there's still a hope for us?

By the way I love your tumblr. Your replies are always so mature and make so much sense. Your positivity is what's making me still having hope for Varchie get back eventually.

OOOOOKAY nonnie, and other 39 anons I’ve got ever since Lili mentioned the word “emotional” somewhere.

Listen to me. I’m old (lol) and shouldn’t even be in the Riverdale fandom but I am and here we are, this show is entertaining, I love writing fics for it and I love Varchie, Veronica, Archie, Bughead, and all the characters. I just don’t love B*rchie, as you guys know, and the writers. But anyway, this love and dedication for my hobby -- before I get anyone else saying I should get a life (I’ve got a troll recently saying that) -- has brought me many great friends, some of which work in the industry or are close to people who do. I don’t say the stuff I say just because I’m big brained, it’s a combination of analyzing spoilers, behind-the-scenes, the actors interviews, reviewers analysis, and hints from people who definitely know more than I do.

Do I know everything? No. Can I be wrong and fall flat face and y’all will hate me? Unlikely, but it can happen.

However, listen to me when I say: Varchie and Bughead are not threatened by Betty and Archie dating in seven years from now. 

Of course, it’s bumming that they have to go there, that the cheating plot happened (even though RAS clearly rewrote stuff to downplay it) and that they’ll be explored, but explored is the key word here. I’ve been telling you guys since May that Betty and Archie are gonna date after the time-jump. I’ve been telling you guys that I just didn’t know if they’d start together already or if they’d start because they see their main romantic interests with other people. Lili’s interview basically confirms the latter.

Do I know if Archie and Betty have feelings for each other that were lingering for seven or however many years etc etc? No, I don’t know. But think logically, it was bound to happen. They’re all going to be apart. Betty and Archie were best friends their entire life (as KJ said in his interview, where he called her his best friend 3 times and never mentioned ‘love’ unless talking about Veronica) and it’s probably easier for them to reconnect. Lili alluded to Betty going through some changes, too. Nostalgia is B*rchies biggest theme so far, so why would it be different? They’re all coming back. Jughead has a girlfriend, even if not for long. Veronica has a husband. It’s the next logical step, to have them date.

I know the big B*rchie accounts out there will try to make it look like BA are having this epic slow burn build up that will come to a head around episode 10/11 (filmed in February) where Archie will give her flowers and declare his undying love or something, but please. The casting call was proved fake but even if it wasn’t, this isn’t going to happen. You guys -- us Varchies especially -- need to stop catering to the B*rchies narrative so easily just because they’re loud. KJ and Lili most likely have already filmed their romantic arc, are probably in the way of finishing this arc right now (hence the ‘emotional’ scene), he’s been steadily filming with Cami, Chris and other people involved in that arc, even if in group scenes, and their schedules (and Lili and Cole’s too) are bound to change from now on to be more focused around each other.

Trust me when I say this isn’t permanent. Bughead and Varchie are not going anywhere and the only people who believe that are just catering to this narrative that the BAs plant in our minds through their excessively annoying tweeting of headcanons and well-crafted edits.

Also, and just because I don’t want to answer anyone else, people need to STOP blaming this arc on Lili or KJ or Cole. Cole and Lili breaking up hasn’t affected the storyline, they are professionals and will film together again. Lili and KJ are talking about B*rchie now because that’s the storyline for early in the timejump and it’s their job to promote half of the ship they’re in. I know before hand Lili hasn’t enjoyed the idea of B*rchie but she has no power over the narrative, and if she does now, what if she changed her mind? She’s not gonna change what the writers have in store; if she did, Betty would have never stripped in front of a group of grown man, I’m sure.

KJ doesn’t ship B*rchie or Varchie, Lili doesn’t ship Bughead or B*rchie, they’re professional actors getting paid to tell this story. They enjoy working together because they’re friends just as KJ and Cami, KJ and Cole, Cami and Cole, etc. And as for Sprousehart breaking up affecting the storyline: this isn’t One Tree Hill.

So, I hope this help keep your chin up. It won’t be easy to see BA dating, but you have to trust Archie and Veronica’s and Betty and Jughead’s journey, that has been built for four seasons already, and it’s clearly not over. You guys need to keep your focus on them. And if BA dating affects you a lot, just jump season 5A and you’ll be most likely good.

And please don’t share this on Twitter, I get enough trolls and hate as it is!

16. Do you draw more today than you did in the past, or do you draw less?

Hmmm, less than I did when I was teen, more than I did when I was in my early 20s. I'd actually say I'm much more consistent with drawing than I used to be, though I draw less than I did when I first joined the bughead fandom. It ebbs and flows. Doing crafts fills a bit of the same hobby space for me, so these days I mostly draw when I have the impulse, or if I have a specific idea.

18. What are you currently trying to improve on?

I kind of want to stretch myself in what color hues I use? My coloring process tends to lean toward warm shading and hues. It would be nice to stretch out a bit.

20. What is the easiest thing for you to draw?

Barchies are on one now. They think since cole was spotted with a new lady that it means barchie is confirmed endgame. They are even trying to get bughead is over trending on Twitter. Good lord they need a new hobby. 🤦🏻‍♀️

And I for one can’t wait until their whole ship comes crumbling down. It’s going to be rather poetic.

what does his personal life have to do with the fictional character he plays on tv? i mean, not to be rude to them but they do know that plenty of onscreen couples dated in real life and broke up while their characters still ended up together right? 

...can we say that b/a is dead because kj has a real life girlfriend? or is it they only think bughead is a thing because of the real life actors? 

if so, they really need to stop reading blogs that made up their own timeline and history of how tv shows and ras works out of their ass. that’s doing no one any favors. 

seeing their logic at work looks like a baby giraffe walking for the first time only way less endearing.

Only 8, I guess? I guess I tend more towards verbosity than prolific-ness.

Only Riverdale. Well, a little but of Harry Potter when I was like, 12. And I have (1) Nancy Drew CW draft that is sort of aimless and may or may not ever see the light of day.

Yes! I am behind on a few fics though, for sure... but I always eventually get to them! I appreciate that people will engage with what I work on and often say both very kind and insightful things.

What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

I don't think I have a single one. I love writing angst, but I don't love ending on it, I like it to go somewhere distinctly happy. That might have more to do with Betty and Jughead than like, any ship I might ever write for, but I only write them, so...

What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?

I mean I wrote a 23k sappy af ending to revelation and it felt like the most cathartic to write of all my happy endings. I for sure cried multiple times in the process.

Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?

No, and I guess never say never? But I love an AU. I did write a arrested development AU drabble that felt a little unhinged lol.

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Not a lot, I have gotten a couple comments that hit me kinda weird, but only one I've ever deleted because someone was annoyed at me for something I had tagged and mentioned several times in authors notes, at which point... like just don't. Get a hobby, yo.

Do you write smut? If so what kind?

Yes, though "what kind" is... I'm not sure? As loveleee said, usually more of the M territory than E? I guess I would say I don't write a ton of smut for the sake of smut, it usually has a purpose to the characters/story. (But don't get me wrong, smut for the sake of smut is great and I read it readily.)

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Yes, but the people of Ao3 are good people and took it down very quickly after I emailed them! I only found it by accident, but this person had plagiarized another bughead fic as well. It felt very violating and upsetting, but also relieving to get justice. Google your own fic every once in a while, I guess?

Have you ever had a fic translated?

No.

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

With the one and only @heartunsettledsoul! Listen, that fic is very fun to write, but we are both eternally burying ourselves in projects. But it will continue :)

The one I've written 350k for, obviously.

What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

Nothing I've posted, I try not to post anything I don't intend and have a plan to finish. I have two unposted WIPs that I very much plan to post and finish but I'm trying to avoid writing another fic that takes me two years and change to finish, so I'm trying to push them both further before posting.

I guess I have two shorter WIP ideas that may or may not ever turn into something but I also never want to say never!

What’s your writing strengths?

While plotting is not *easy* for me, I also love a plot that snaps together like a puzzle, without becoming dominated by the plot alone. Character driven plot, perhaps. Reflecting on comments I receive, I think tone and pacing are another, and all of this is probably why I gravitate towards more long form fic than one shots.

What’s your writing weaknesses?

Repetitive action verbs. Run on sentences. A lot of nitty gritty technical stuff. Sometimes wanting a particular self-indulgent moment or comment and while fic is certainly a place to be as self-indulgent as you want, sometimes it doesn't work. Also, trusting things to be conveyed by showing-not-telling is hard, and sometimes I drift into doing both, which feels like overkill.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I don't do it much, some Spanish via Veronica, I guess, and then I often use a lot of phrases that I am familiar with/know are used colloquially. (I don't speak Spanish well but I am immersed in a bilingual space daily via my job.)

What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

For the sheer effort/blood/tears, a revelation in the light of day. For something I just still get a *nailed it* feeling about, years later, in case I stand one little chance. And honestly, the one I'm working on now is a Western-ish AU have been dreaming up for over a year, I'm psyched out of my mind about (if I can figure out how to plot the last 30%)!

ACTUALLY the au that should win is tma riverdale au where jonmartin is bughead because nothing is funnier than unhinged teenager martin and annoying pretentious teenager jon who solve mysteries together. also elias is there as their friend sasha’s rich evil dad whose main hobby is beefing with teenagers. i think after the panopticon collapses they get amnesia and are transported to a dimension where this is real. all the insane shit that happens is because of the influence of the entities. there is literally no way to disprove this

Not at all Sixish Sentence Sunday

Still plugging slowly away at my Bughead-as-assasins-future!fic but feeling blocked this weekend. Writing is a fickle hobby.

Veronica’s gaze lands on Betty and Archie. “Ah,” she murmurs, “that’s what has you so distracted.”

He is surprised she sounds so unconcerned given her own on/off history with Archie. He can only assume that they are squarely in an “off” period.

“Come on, Jughead,” she needles. “She’s just playing with him. There’s no need to look at Archie like you want to take him out back and challenge him to a duel.”

“I’m not,” he says, but the shortness of his words betray his feelings.

Veronica laughs and shakes her head. But her laugh fades and he follows her eyes to where she is staring at Jackson Damon. He has one hand casually stuffed into the pocket of his tuxedo. In his other hand, he raises a crystal glass of champagne towards Veronica’s direction before he raises to his lips and tips it back. He drinks it in one gulp, his gaze still trained to Veronica’s. He wipes his lips as he lowers the champagne glass and then gives a thumb’s up in their direction.

Without turning, Veronica says, “I certainly have his attention. What do you say, Jughead? Time to arrange a private meeting? Perhaps we can discuss… a détente in tensions.” She pauses. “I’ll need all of my people with me in the room. If something were to happen to Damon, I would hate for it to be tied back to us.”

“We’ll need a distraction,” says Jughead. “Something to keep the rest of your guests entertained. Betty needs to be able to slip in and out like she never left.”

Veronica straightens her shoulders. “Is this or is this not a charity night? Perhaps it’s time we rolled out the charitable auction and giveaway. The grand prize is an absolute sumptuous week at the Five Seasons.”

It’s been a long time since I kept bookmarks to all of the most up to date sites on tv ratings and the break downs of those ratings. There was a time it was a hobby of mine, I like following numbers. Used to do this with the music charts too. So I am not going to have the most up to date info on tracking ratings, streaming and know all the side accounts releasing behind the scenes information the way I used to. 

But! I don’t need to have access to all that information to still be able to spot certain vibes and Barchies and Alex acting like the show was going along swimmingly. No dice. I have fought to get projects canceled when pushed too far, like I said the greatest success in which was just one of many was killing the spinoff of HIMYM. 

Riverdale went too far. 

Never bought season 6 was guaranteed. Never bought this show couldn’t be yanked off air. Never bought may not be cut short.

Now we see it is being taken off for sweeps to test out another show but it’s companion show gets to stay on the air. Won’t be allowed to come back until summer which is when most shows get burned off. That wasn’t planned people. No popular show gets yanked off air mid way through and dumped in the deadest time of year if all is well. Especially not a teen show when kids aren’t around the tv. 

Given that set Denise’s response she didn’t know so clearly JUST happened after lost 300k viewers in the 1/2 hours of Barchie sex and following steadily declining ratings since returned. 

No one wanted a time jump. If you were going to do one never wanted Barchie sex and Betty acting like an airheaded witch. No one buys heroic Archie. The only good part of Riverdale is Jughead, pop Tate and Erinn but watching that means I have to watch the rest and endorse what they did to Bughead/Betty and won’t do that.

At this point RIverdale is probably just counting down to cancelation because unlikely going to win back the audience you burned off even if make it all a dream. But hey...at least Lili and KJ won’t be in prison anymore, am I right?

You really think Barchie’s over ok delusional 😭😭 We’re the most popular ship on the show and get Riverdale the most engagement. The highest rated episodes of this season were 5x05-5x06 and the havent even bothered promoting Varchie or Bughead. Barchie is far from over, honey😉 Nothings over until the show is over
