Random thing, but I'm making a MaW AU and I have two in mind, I dunno which one I should choose, so I'm lettin' y'all help me :3

I'm wondering, do snorpy and floofty keep their intelligence? since cromdo keeps his stealing tendencies and triffany keeps her love of fossils. And this is assuming they become complete animals.(I'm sorry if this had already been answered or is obvious, I just saw this au and thought it was amazing.) regardless I love this au and your art <3

hmm, not really but they aren't completely mindless.

Snakmonsters keep some level of cognitive thinking and comprehension due to still having access to a grumpus brain. It allows them to do things such as basic problem solving or the ability to recognize others or objects. But that's about the extent of their limitations. They are still little more than feral animals. And the Fizzlebean siblings are no exception to that. Their knowledge in science and engineering doesn't provide them any benefit in their goals as snakmonsters, and is mostly tossed aside under the influence of the bugsnax. So despite their smarts, they don't really have any more complex thoughts than the others. Buuut, they do still have traits/habits of themselves that carry over.

Snorpy is one of the few, if only, to retain some knowledge on how to manipulate tools and things. He rarely finds use for this, but it's there if he does. He's also trickier to trap than the others, as he's the only one who can actually recognize traps when they're just out in the open. Being so familiar with them after building them himself, that familiarity is one of the things that carries over. Not that he'd be able to properly use then in any capacity. But he'd certainly know to avoid any set traps he sees.

Floofty is.. Well, Floofty is mostly just a recluse in this form. More so than any of the others (aside maybe Wambus). They stay holed up in the cave systems of the Frosted Peak, where they rarely venture out from. They may do parameter checks around the mountain from time to time, especially if they suspect another grumpus nearby, which they ARE very slow and methodical in their searches. Almost studying every detail of their environment, to the point where they can remember and tell changes to it. But otherwise they are not the most actively aggressive monster (towards other snax and snakmonsters, at least)... Unless you enter their caves. Then they become incredibly hostile.

A Mayor's Promise

The Base EGO tied to Filbo Fiddlepie, who in this little AU I have decided to create like right now lmao is one of the main grumpuses responsible for the excursion to Snaktooth Island! In this little post I will just go expand on the details further and such! But right now, EGO information:

Type: Gloom (Slash)

EGO Resource Cost: 5 Gloom

Coin Value: 25 - 32

Effects: [Indiscriminate]

Targets up to 5 targets. If the target is an ally, damage is nullified and instead turns into temporary health gained instead. The temporary health lasts for 3 turns unless it is damaged enough to be removed.

If the target ends up being an enemy (be it a bugsnax or an enemy grumpus), damage is dealt and the enemy is afflicted with a debuff similar to Weaknesses Analyzed, where the enemy's affinities are changed, but this time they are all moved to neutral (No strenght/weakness against) for the turn called Mayor's Oath

Passive: When activating Gloom Res., 2 allies with the lowest speeds get 1 haste for the remainder of the turn the Abs. Res. Was activated.

Attack Description: Filbo's attire changes to a ceremonial gown once the EGO is used. Filbo takes off his sash and tosses it towards the air, soon expanding and circling down onto the randomly selected targets, before soon it wraps around the targets and squishes them inside.

With that out of the way, below the cut I'll expand a bit more on the AU itself and include Filbo's full EGO picture without the border! (If you want me to expand on something under the cut or above, please let me know! I'd love to discuss this if given permission)

General AU Info:

Now then, this won't make too much sense without prior knowledge of the Project Moon Universe, but I will try to simplify it enough so that it fits within the Bugsnax Universe without needing constant reference between the two!

With that being said, here's info regarding

The Snaktooth Company AU

The Expedition

The expedition to Snaktooth Island wasn't simply to just go there to establish a new life for the Grumpuses themselves, but it was for something else. It was rumored that the island contained not only treasures, but relics of the past that could be used for multiple things, really. Advancing scientific fields, improving lifestyles of the common grumpus, bragging rights or a pretty penny, you get the gist of it. Because of it, many grumpuses want to head there themselves, but not everyone has managed to come back alive.

CNN

In this AU, it isn't a Journalism Company, but rather something else entirely. CNN is now a company in charge of maintaining the peace in the main island, not via police work though, but rather by working in the shadows to ensure things like cryptids, monsters, or powerful relics are common knowledge to the public. After all if such knowledge came to the public, it would probably lead to riots or worse! Because of this, CNN is in charge of preparing the expedition units to head to Snaktooth Island to gather whatever they can from there.

Snaktooth Islands

In this, Snaktooth Island isn't just one singular island, but rather comprises of many. Why haven't they shown in satellites, maps, and other media? Well outside the censoring done by the government and such, it's also because in truth, finding the islands is rather difficult than simply washing up shore unannounced. Outside of some key factors, the islands typically resonate with a grumpus, and typically only they have a vague feeling of it's location. Sure any grumpus can force a trip towards one of the islands, but that wouldn't really get you much, since the islands change according to the Grumpuses within. Additionally, the bugsnax are somewhat the same, but are more aggressive than before. They will attack any grumpus that comes within their range and if they manage to, they'll feed themselves onto them. They will repeat this until the grumpus dies and becomes a part of the island. (Something only the Journalist can remedy, but more on that later)

The Expedition Members

The Grumpuses on the expedition all have a unique heightened compatability to the bugsnax, each also has a past that the islands would naturally resonate with, and so each grumpus was scouted to join the party. By none other than 3 different Grumpuses:

Filbo, Elizbert, and Clumby

The three Grumpuses each are affiliated with CNN in one way or another.

Filbo was sponsored by CNN to fund their career as mayor in the main island, in this AU, the Grumpuses don't meet prior to Snaktooth outside obvious exceptions (Grumpuses that are related to one another, in a relationship, so on and so forth), and Filbo managed to become Mayor prior to this thanks to CNN pulling some strings in the background.

Elizbert is a member of one of the CNN branches, and was one of the few Grumpuses that brought forth the main plan to the higher-ups. Elizbert was one of the main players in this operation, being the one to scout for Grumpuses in her circles (and Eggabells) to find potential Grumpuses to help them with this.

Clumby, although considered a higher-up by CNN, much prefers to be able to see things by herself rather to leave it to reports. Clumby will act as a guide to the islands, having been a previous survivor of them herself, she knows some things that would prove to help the expedition exponentially.

The Journalist

The Journalist is... Well, I won't spoil TOO much regarding the Journalist's role (mostly because in the source material the character the Journalist replaces has their backstory shrouded in mystery) , BUT I can share some things that still matter!

The Journalist is the Manager of the expedition, despite them not being a long time CNN member they had a unique trait that none of the others did.

They still have their snax allergy, however it will be a MUCH needed ability to ensure no grumpus dies during the expeditions. The reasoning for this is that they, in a way, rewind the snakification of the grumpuses that are in the expedition, but as a consequence the Journalist themselves will suffer through the usual allergy reactions portrayed at the start of Bugsnax (although for the sake of narrative, the only hole they'll puke it out will just be their mouth, the rest is just gonna be allergy pains)

The Relics

Like I mentioned before, Snaktooth Islands have relics within them that will replace the purpose of Golden Boughs from the source material. Much like them, they are items of great power that will become greatly useful to those that have possession of them. However instead of being golden branches, instead they'll be... Well.

Bug Organs.

I mean, they LOOK like bug organs, but they aren't ENTIRELY bug organs- look let me put it this way:

The Snaktooth Islands, although still parasitic in nature, they spawn Bugsnax differently. At the heart of each island, there will be a sort of temple that while heavily protected by Bugsnax, will also have unique traits depending on the Grumpus the island has resonated with. To put as an example, in an Island that has resonated with Filbo, the temple may have references to mayor votings in the past eras, be it the crowning of kings, generals, tribe leaders, you name it! The Bugsnax within would also somewhat resemble this too, no they won't outright be the dead mayor figures, those would be the Bosssnax, but they will assume the foods of the mayors that they preferred. Perhaps the King enjoyed Steak Stews, maybe a Bugsnax will become one, perhaps the General enjoyed a nice bowl of rice and beans, so a bugsnax will be one, so on and so forth.

Bosssnax

Character Swaps

The Bosssnax will replace the role of the Abnormality boss fights in the source material. In this AU, the Bosssnax will all have been previous grumpuses that had attempted to enter the islands, but failed to escape alive. Naturally each bosssnax will be heavily connected to the grumpus prior, be it in mannerisms, food type, so on and so forth. Now, despite it being called bugsnax, I think for the sake of creative liberty, I will include other animal types if I can't find a fitting bug, but I'm sure that won't come up too much.

Now, I already have some grumpuses planned to swap for respective Limbus Company characters, but I'll admit, I don't have ALL of them set in stone just yet. That being said, I'll include the ones I have here (they may be changed in the future):

so i've been working on a bugsnax au

there's also thousands of other aus that have been aging like fine cheese in the back of my brain for nearly all of my fandoms but today we're focusing on the bugsnax one. (technically one of two but i DEFINITELY abandoned the other lmao)

the title is You're Invited to Roach Island

it's basically just a spookier version of bugsnax. no real rhyme or reason other than some edgy 'redesigns' came to me in a dream and sparked this. the vibe is supposed to be horror but less "edgy modern AAA horror game" and more "youth-level horror novel from the 90's". think goosebumps.

here's my journalist ref. (ignore the sketch underneath i forgor to remove that before saving as a png 💀) the general plot is that everyone is some sort of supernatural being who has been invited to stay at this place called Roach Island (snaktooth island). seems innocent enough. plenty of space to do monster things around. it's even got some cute critters!

those 'cute critters' are bugsnax and if you know anything about vanilla bugsnax lore then you know it's gonna be even worse. we're putting the parasite thing into full gear :)

when consumed, the bugsnax now take control over snakified body parts. being snakified completely by one bugsnak gives it uniform control, but each part being a different snak creates some...uncontrollable convulsing thing. if the snakification process succeeds, the grumpus either returns to nature and essentially goes feral, or is led to their imminent doom.

i'd genuinely love to know if y'all are interested in this!!! i still haven't made most of the characters so suggestions are appreciated-

A new Bugsnax Au. Called Tainted Minds

On the island of Snaktooth Island the members of Snakburg are corrupted by some weird force on the island. Twisting and Turning them into delusional darker versions of themselves. Each dangerous and deadly. Each with their own story and own narrative. Even worse the Bugsnax’s are deformed into twisted monsters and are more aggressive…except for the strabby.

Now with your immunity to the dark aura and Bugsnax, It’s up a Journalists name Buddy who was sent an SOS letter from Lizburg to help return the citizens of Snakburg to their former good selves and uncover what happened to the Liz and Eggabell….but as they travel more into the mysteries of the island, they realize….nothing is as it seems.

Art and story development will come out as we talk and come up with ideas.

If the AU is based on Majora's Mask, will the journalist end up with other forms, or is it a lot of spending the first act trying to reverse being a funny little melon ball guy

I've been thinking about possible other snak monster forms for the Journalist, even incorporating different bugsnax for the different biomes, and I have concept sketch for the ocean one

But yeah, the first loop/arc I have in mind is trying to get Buddy back to normal. Which I haven't fully figured out yet myself. Like the stand in for the Ocarina of Time is a silver compass/sundial the Snaxsquatch steals off them, but I don't know yet what the "Song of Healing" stand in should/could be. Something to do with Jamfoot for sure but other than that I'm still working it out

Also I haven't had the chance to mention it, but in Snak form Buddy can't talk. Though I have debated on them developing a rudimentary language so they can communicate with Filbo a bit easier. (Kinda in the vein of how Ash's Pikachu has certain names it can say, like “Pipipi” for calling out to togepi)

Bugsnax OC: Samuel Sandefur

Samuel Sandefur is our main hero in this Bugsnax AU. He is the only human protagonist ever to appear in the story. Sam is a 10-year-old orphan boy known to be a very polite, curious, and soft-hearted individual with a strong passion for adventure. He's always eager to learn new things and to enjoy living life to the fullest. However, he's rather shy, and not quite adept at communicating with other people, especially when he encounters Grumpuses for the first time.

Sam's backstory is shrouded in mystery. Originally a citizen from the human realm, he found his way into a world hidden beyond the Great Red Barrier where it is said to be the home of furry monster-like people called Grumpuses.

Taking place before the events of the game, Sam gets shipwrecked on Snaktooth Island where he meets Lizbert Megafig and her expedition team made up of fourteen members. Their mission is to provide research and collect information about the insect-like food creatures given the name Bugsnax. Sam offers to partake in the expedition since he's been familiar with strange and otherworldly creatures, since to him Grumpuses are considered cryptids. As the boy tries to adjust to his new surroundings on Snaktooth Island under Lizbert's guardianship, Sam will learn important life lessons, and little by little will get to understand the history of the survival of the Grumpuses.

Will Sam be able to get along with any of the Grumpuses? He will surely face many challenges when living with fourteen of them, being the only human on the island. In order to truly be a part of their team, Sam must recognize his own shortcomings and work in many ways to improve himself and build better relations with each Grumpus he interacts with. No matter what risk he takes, he will eventually show all of them the power to fulfill their expedition.

I ended up fishing a basic sum up of my AU! Though if you have already played the game Bugsnax, you might be able to understand it a bit more lol

Premise of the AU:

Ok so basically many years ago, there were tales that told of an uninhabited island that were home to these amazing creatures called Bugsnax! They were to only creatures of their kind and apparently an absolute delicacy when eaten whole. It’s said that each creature’s taste was unique and was immeasurable to any other kind of dish on the planet.

So obviously, many Grumpuses from all over flocked to this little island to try and get a piece of the pie, hoping to make so good cash on these creatures. Little did they know that this would be their very last voyages ever. For once they stepped foot on that island, they were never seen again..

No one truly knows what happened on the island. Some say it’s that paranormal stuff happened there that caused those Grumpes to disappear like a monster or ghost got them, while others say that some crazy wakko Grumpus nutjob lives there killed off everyone so they could have everything to themselves. And it’s not like the authorities can do manhunts there. Anyone that set foot on that island were never too be seen again.

Finally the authorities deemed it way too dangerous and banned all travel to that island all together. Permanently. And the legend of the Bugsnak island faded into history.

Though, this sadly has not stopped those from foolishly going to the island regardless. Whether it was illegally in secret, or if some poor innocent soul just so happened to stumble across it by pure coincidence.

The temptation was just too strong to ignore sometimes, I suppose.
