I am so excited about this show! Anima Studios was behind Gaya sa Pelikula (Like in the Movies), and JP Habac is back directing. They even got Adrian Lindayag from The Boy Foretold by the Stars and Love Beneath the Stars, and they got Tommy Alejandrino from The Day I Loved You. I am so ready.

Episode 1 – Amihan

Papa Isio was born as Dionisio Magbuelas on March 20, 1846 and was an anti-colonial rebel and babaylan (i.e. Visayan shaman) during the Negros Revolution who, in response to land loss, lead a group of other babaylans in the cause for nationalistic agrarian reform. At one point in time Papa Isio fled the Spanish authorities during which, according to Modesto P. Sa-onoy, he may have joined Dios Buhawi, a fellow Negrense and babaylan leader who once waged a politico-religious revolt against the Spanish in the late nineteenth century. Papa Isio’s own nom de guerre was an appropriation of the Santo Papa’s title and a repudiation of his and the Church’s authority.

Papa Isio was eventually cornered not by the Spanish but by American forces. He surrendered to Lieutenant J.S. Mohler on August 6, 1907 and died in Manila’s Old Bilibid Prison sometime in 1911, before which he may be regarded as the last revolutionary standing “who was consistent in his fight against the Spaniards and the Americans.”

Since his death, Papa Isio has been commemorated with a statue in Cauayan, Negros Occidental and was featured in the artwork “The Spiritual Landscape of Papa Isio” by Riel Hilario.

Here are my ideas how the vampires and vampire hunters existed in the pre-colonial times. Everything here is my own personal take and I took some of the inspirations from various tales and histories.

The vampires in the Philippines are called Danags. They used to be worshipped as gods and was respected by the villagers. These villagers were ruled by a Datu(chieftain or monarch or ruler in pre-colonial Philippines) and by that time, the social classes are divided into four.

The Danags used to have a close relationship with humans regardless of their social classes and were completely oblivious they can suck blood and drain lives of others. They would give and provide humans food, keep their crops healthy and they weren't that selfish unlike in the present, but when one of the mortal woman was wounded, one of the Danags helped and sucked their blood, as well as draining their lives and turned the woman into a dry, dead corpse. This Danag, named Buhawi, had realized the human blood tasted really good. Buhawi had informed the rest of the Danags and encouraged them to do it. Since then, they took advantage of humans, luring them into their traps before killing them.

As the missing and dead people cases started to rise, The Maharlikas(warrior class) decided to do something about to eliminate all the Danags. They would collaborate with the Datu to make the law to murder every Danags on sight. This caused to start a war between Danags and humans.

Elias Lumanog, one of the skilled and experienced Maharlikas, was the one who started inventing more vampire hunting tools and weapons that might be helpful to other warriors. Along with his wife, Mutya, she was the one who was responsible for inventing cures for vampire bites and injuries with her herbal medicine knowledge. This couple started a family, training their children to become vampire hunters at a young age because they know their place isn't safe and peaceful anymore. The family would train their children or descendants and became a Lumanog tradition.

Some of the Maharlikas became experienced vampire hunters as well. The remaining Danags still exist up to the modern day, as their punishment by the Supreme Deities was to spend on Earth on eternity until they get hunted by either the descendants of Maharlikas or the Lumanogs.

Visayan's Unique Culture

Visayans known to be those people who believe in gods. Gods popularly named Kaptan and Magwayan, supreme god of the sky and goddess of the sea and death, respectively. They in turn bore two children, Lihangin, god of wind, and Lidagat, goddess of the sea. Both aforementioned gods had four children, namely Likabutan, the god of the world, Liadlaw, the god of the sun, Libulan, the god of the moon, and Lisuga, the goddess of the stars. People believed that life transpires amidst the will of and reverence towards gods and spirits. These deities who dwell within nature were collectively called the diwata. Meanwhile, spirits were referred to as umalagad (called "anito" in Luzon). These refer to ancestors, past leaders or heroes also transfigured within nature. Beside idols symbolizing the umalagad were food, drinks, clothing, precious valuables or even a sacrificial animal offered for protection of life or property. Such practice was a form of ancestor worship. Furthermore, these rituals surrounding the diwata and umalagad were mediated by the babaylan who were highly revered in society as spiritual leaders. These intercessors were equivalent to shamans, and were predominantly women or were required to have strong female attributes such as hermaphrodites and homosexuals. Old men were also allowed to become one. One notable example is Dios Buhawi who ruled a politico-religious revolt in Negros Oriental at the beginning of the Philippine Revolution.

Jaegers:

Cobalt wildcat - dark blue with long claws and knuckle spikes. Medium armour and speed, very strong. Mark ii. 3 kills.

&

Ivory Lucifer - white with red accents + face plate. retractable swords from each palm (edged In red) and a rotatable torso. Very fast, medium strength, low armour. Mark iii. 4 kills.

Kaiju:

Sythe: long tailed kaiju with two legs and arms. It's arms were long but mostly used for grappling as it's sythe bladed tail slashed its prey. Long fangs also used for immobilisation, it's head hammer shaped at the end to fit the fangs. Killed by Ivory Lucifer. The loccent realised what the kaiju would do before engaging, and so the rangers rotated the torso while running in to fight. This prevented it from being grabbed because the torso was side on and it confused the kaiju. Ivory then spun around and cut off one hand. Eventually after a lot of dodging, the tail was cut off and it was safe to move in closer, where ivory Lucifer then beheaded the kaiju. Ivory Lucifer's 1st kill.

Cataclysm: very strong and stocky kaiju with a vertical mouth splitting the length of its chest. Two strong arms capable of tearing apart a Jaeger and legs to match. Cobalt wildcat was deployed and faced it during a thunderstorm - the loccent wasn't sure what was thunder and what was a punch. Cobalt wildcat got a hit in that shattered the kaiju's shoulder and gave it an opening to tear out it's throat and half decapitate the kaiju with the Jaeger's claws. Cobalt wildcat's 1st kill.

Goreback: huge four limbed kaiju whose front legs split into 2 arms, each with wicked claws. No back legs. It's back could spit out electrical charges and was covered in short blue tentacles. Long tail that ended in a sting that gave extremely strong shocks.

Killed by Ivory Lucifer after having it's tail and one arm cut off when Ivory splitt off it's lower jaw and stabbed up through to the primary brain. However during the fight the kaiju tore off one of Ivory's hands after its arm was paralyzed by the electrical blasts. Ivory's 2nd kill.

Moltenjaw:

Six limbs that can be used alteratively for running and hitting and a large square head with downwards facing horns. It's jaw opens 90°, so it's lower jaw can be parallel and touching it's chest. Could spurt acid from its throat but not a targeted attack like otachi, just a flow. Killed by cobalt wildcat after serverly damaging the Jaeger. Moltenjaw climbed on top of the Jaeger and began dissolving it, but cobalt wildcat bodyslammed it into the ocean floor and snapped the connection between the two brains. Wildcat's 2nd kill.

Buhawi: extremely fast kaiju headed towards borongan city. Four arms, one set pointing forwards one pointing backwards. Could sprint using one set and set and still hit with the other. Big long digitigrade legs and a short tail. Long snout with a forwards facing horn on its forehead, not as big or thick as knife head and more like a unicorn horn. Tried to impale ivory lucifer, but they jumped over it and rotated to torso to try and slice it's back. The kaiju evaded but didn't slow down towards the city. Despite missing it's back, ivory was able to spear it's tail and stand on it, halting the kaiju. It turned and launched itself into Lucifer, who managed to dodge but let go of the tail. It spun around (as did Lucifer so it could move more easily) and launched itself again. Ivory Lucifer kept dodging it's attacks and lured it further out to sea before really attacking. Eventually, ivory lucifer split the kaiju's head in half lengthwise with its swords, going down into the neck, and the kaiju fell still.

Ivory Lucifer's 3rd kill.

Spinereaper: very tall insectoid kaiju with sharp spikes all along it's back. Every joint has a spike coming from it. However, the spikes are actually on the front, the head and feet are just the wrong way around. Surprised cobalt wildcat who thought they were sneaking up on the kaiju by suddenly springing to action and grappling the Jaeger, heavily damaging it. They stayed attached for the whole fight, and the spikes and their movement destroyed the interior and killed both rangers. The Jaeger was destroyed but the explosion of the core killed spinereaper. Cobalt wildcat's 3rd and final kill. Wildcat's became a symbol for bravery and determination and was heavily memorialised in Scotland, where both rangers were from.

Sabrelance: serpentine lizard body, think raiju but bipedal, with two long sharp edged lances for hands. 6 eyes and backwards facing horns and a traingle shaped face, ending in a point split by its maw with 5 rows of teeth. Ivory Lucifer and sabrelance basically had a swordfight, complete with the inherent homoeroticism of crossing blades. Ivory Lucifer managed to stab into its chest cavit, causing the kaiju to recoil and give Lucifer another opening to stab it, this time managing to destroy it's heart.

Ivory's 4th kill and final kill (and most well known because holy shit giant swordfight).

Orthrus: the two headed kaiju. Each head was independent of the other on long-ish necks, almost splitting into two creatures with separate torsos. Four arms (split at elbow) and four legs. Ivory Lucifer was deployed to prevent it reaching the city of Keelung in Taiwan before the jaegers assigned could get there. Ivory Lucifer was torn apart after a short fight - the kaiju grabbed it's right sword in two hands as one head went to tear off the arm, distracting the rangers from the other head. Ivory Lucifer fought valiantly and distracted orthrus long enough for two extra reinforcements to be brought - the first two Mark IV Jaeger's, Nova Hyperion and Echo saber. The eventually managed to put the kaiju down by flanking it and destroying the heads - ivory Lucifer had managed to put one arm out of commission and cut off another (both on the right side, allowing them to only have to deal with one set). They dragged ivory lucifer back to shore where a memorial was set up. The rangers of all three Jaeger's knew that this was likely a sucide mission for ivory Lucifer, but it was the only way to protect the people in the city.

Barangay 432 is in 575 - Interior J. Geronimo Street, Sampaloc, Manila.  Let  me share with you what are the things you can expect in my barangay.

HAZARD IDENTIFICATION 

Ano-Ano ang mga kalamidad/hazards na tumama sa ating barangay? paki-kwento.

Kung natatandaan ninyo yung Buhawi noon, hindi ko lang matandaan kung anong tao yun, pero nagkaroon noon ng lamakas na buhaw sa Maynila, isa rin eh yung mga malalakas na bagyoo buhawi man yan, Syempre alam ninyo yung sa Ondoy, 2009 ata ‘yon, tapos yung sa Yolanda noong 2013, yan yung mga matitinding bagyo noon na grabe talaga yung baha noon dito. Tapos yang mga sunog na yan na kadalasan eh nagkakasunog tuwing summer kasi diba nga napaka init, kaya ayun madaling magkaron ng sunog.

Ano ang iba pang mga panganib na nakaapekto ng matindi sa ating pamayanan?

wala namang pagnanakaw oh kung ano mang krimen ang nangyari dito sa barangay natin, kasi gabi-gabi naman nagpapatrol ang mga taond natin, kapag may nakitang mga naka tambay o mga nagiinuman disoras na ng gabi, eh syempre hinuhuli namin at dinadala dito sa barangay kasi diba mayroon na tayo nung curfew, kaya ayun naiiwasan natin yung mga bagay na hindi maganda mangyari o mga gulo na ‘yan.

Paano nalalaman na may parating na bantang sakuna? (maaaring siyentipiko at/o lokal na palatandaan at babala)

Pag bagyo, sa mga balita, sa TV diba meron lagi yung sa PAG-ASA or kaya sa radyo, dun namin nalalaman kapag may paparating na bagyo o lindol.  Pag sunog naman, syempre hindi natin madalas ineexpect kung kelan nagsisimula ang sunog pero handa naman ang mga barangay officials kung sakaling magkaroon ng sunog, mayroon din na malalapit na fire stations dito sa barangay natin kaya mabilis lang maagapan ang sunog dito sa lugar natin.

Gaano kadalas ito nangyayari sa ating pamayanan?

pag sunog kadalasan kapag taginit kasi tulad ng sabi ko eh mainit kapag summer eh ang mga bahay bahay pa naman dito lalo na sa squatters area eh puro kahoy kahoy kaya madaling mag-cause ng sunog. pag bagyo naman halos buwan buwan yan eh, diba buwan-buwan may bagyo or kaya habagat man yan.

Saan ang may pinakamatinding mapipinsala? Bakit kaya ang mga lugar na ito ang may pinakamatindi ang pinsala?

Pinaka matinding mapipinsala eh iyong sa  maisan, geronimokasi mga gamit dun puro mga lumang kahoy na eh, luma na yung mga bahay bahay dun, eh diba ang mga kahoy mas prone sa sunog ganun. Isa din is  yung sa looban (slumps) sa gernimo  kasi dikit dikit yung mga bahay dun, tas syempre hindi ba matitibay mga bahay nila dun kasi mga kahoy lang gamit, so madaling masira kapag may bagyo or kaya pag may sunog.  

Kung tumama ang mga bantang panganib, sinu-sino kaya sa ating lugar ang pinaka-maaapektuhan? Tukuyin ang ilang mga tao. Bakit kaya sila ang pinaka-maaapektuhan.

Mga tao na nakatira sa slumps at yung masikip na eskinita kasi nga diba since masikip dun sa part na yun eh mahihirapan yung mga tao sa pag evacuate agad kasi nga masikip tas dikit dikit yung mga bahay, eh syempre kahit sabihan mo din sila na wag mag-panic, may iba parin dyan na pangungunahan parin talaga ng takot kaya may mag papanic at magpapanic parin sa mga yan.

Ano kaya ang epekto ng pagtama ng sakuna sa mga tao, pangkabuhayan, serbisyong panlipunan at imprakstruktura ng pamayanan?

pag bagyo, hindi sila nakakapag tinda, o kaya nasisira ang kanilang mga tindahan kapag malakas ang bagyo. pag may nasisirang imprastraktura, minsan natatagalan maipaayos agad dahil minsan kulang sa pondo.

Saan ang pinaka ligtas na lugar sa pamayanan kung may bantang panganib na dumating?

Sinasabihan kami lagi noon ng DRRMC eh pag mag eevacuate daw pag may lindol eh sa UST daw pumunta, tapos kapag may bagyo naman tas binaha tayo dito, mayroon tayo yung tatlong  schools (Geronimo, Tekson, Moises) na magkakatabi na pwedeng gamitin natin as Evacuation

Saan naman ang pinaka delikado na lugar sa pamayanan kung may bantang panganib na dumating?

Anu-ano ang mga suliranin/problema na kinakaharap ng barangay na humahadlang sa pag-unlad ng pamayanan at pumipigil sa pagbangon bula sa pagkasalanta ng mga kalamidad?

Mga problema na humahadlang para sa ikauunlad ng community ay yung pag patuloy na paggamit ng iba ng droga, kasi hangga’t may droga, mahihirapan tayong disiplinahi ang mga tao dito sa lugar natin eh, kasi syempre kapag naka droga kana, iba na takbo ng utak mo. Isa din eh yung mga part ng squatters area, kasi kahit anong turo mo sakanila kung pano mapanatili na maayos yung kapaligiran, hindi nila ina-apply kasi ang titigans ng ulo, tapos kahit ilang beses mo silang paalisin eh bumabalik at bumabalik padin sila. pang huli ay yung mga sugalan dito satin, pero hindi naman tayo nagkukulang sa pag responde at paghuli kapag may sungalan na nagaganap dito sa barangay natin, nakikipagtulungan naman ang polisya at yung mga tanod na rumoronda tuwing gabi.

CAPACITY and DISASTER MANAGEMENT ASSESSMENT

Ano-ano ang ginagawa ng pamayanan at barangay sa paghahand/ pag-iwas at kung sakaling may mga bantang panganib tulad ng bagyo, baha, lindol na dumating?

May mga inaattedan kami namga seminars about sa DRRMC , tapos kapag mag a-alarm kami, meron kami nitong tawag na  "batingteng” bakal saya na makapal na kapag pinukpok mo tutunog sya so sign na yun ng alarm, public address din (once na mag announce ka maririnig sa buong barangay), tapos may dalawang bangka, fire extinguisher.  generator (ever mag brownout), tas katulong ko dito syampre yung mga kagawad ko, mga tanod, police, NGOs, tas may ibang mga nag vovolunteer.
