I saw @regressionworldz make art for this (go check it out!!) and as an indie game fan myself, i thought it was so cute I had to make headcanons.

If you came to the factory regressed, the characters would definitely be less hostile, if not the feature deactivating completely after noticing setting is different. (they'd stay non-hostile knowing you're a regressor)

huggy wuggy always makes sure to hold your hand, his long lanky arms can stretch with you where ever you decide to pull him next.

huggy was quite eager to introduce you to kissy missy, her warmer but vibrant colors captivated you as she greeted your tiny self and picked you up and spun you around, delight to meet a new kid.

missy adores you and has a habit of calling you 'love/lovey/lovely' in a platonic sense! huggy likes calling you 'kiddo' or 'bug' and even 'little one'

there's a breakroom/kitchen were its stocked with snacks and drinks. how they never go spoiled is part of the magic <3

pj pug-a-pillar (my fav<3) loves skittering around with you on his back! when he's walking, you bump from side to side and he loves hearing your delighted giggles. he's v careful u don't fall off, lest he catch a glare from huggy

pj also has some song like you're bouncing on his back, something like. 'bumpity bump bump, bumpity bump bump, bumping back and forth.' with a silly tune behind it.

mommy long legs likes humming to you. you guys definitely have a little hum/whistle as like echolocation for when you get separated. (she gets distracted telling stories at you wanted the factory)

isn't mommy longlegs like a slinky? she doesn't mind the nickname! whatever you wanna call her, she'll accept

I think you might have had caps lock on by mistake when you wrote that message. I hope so, anyway, as otherwise it reads like you are shouting at me and I don’t think that was your intention. :)

If Meghan writes statements like her dedication page for The Bench in her memoirs, I will not be able to read any extracts because I will be laughing so hard. (the dedication in The Bench was as follows: “ For the man and the boy who make my heart go pump-pump “).

I think the publishers are being very wise by insisting on seeing three chapters before any deals are struck. Those chapters will give them an idea of how well they can expect the book to sell. You never know, Meghan may follow her husband’s example and have the book ghost written (without giving any credit to the ghost writer so she can take all the credit for the book). Whatever happens, without those three chapters the memoirs are going nowhere (unless she self publishes).

i dunno if this is a metric that people can actually conceptualize but i struggle with but since falling down the stairs and since im working a lot of questions from custymers asking how i fucked up my hand and i say “i fell down a flight of stairs” and i hope that when i say flight it conveys that i basically fell a floor down. that should be enough. But then they ask “how many steps did you fall down? D:” and tbh i wasn’t counting on my way down BUT I have the benefit of living in the place that tried to kill me so now i can officially say i fell down 18 steps of stairs. does that help conceptualize the fall? i’ve lived in a lot of aged homes that were around before stair standards so 18 steps doesn’t tell me anything personally. So. A flight yeah? Like yes top to bottom i went bumpity-bumpity-bump-bump

Have just updated latest version of demo (for the final time... I think?) and I just wanted to flash back on how far Mankind's Last Stand have come.

The above picture is the bare test bed for the mechanics I would like to implement in the game and it was sort of an initial presentation look. //Shooting boxes with a bumpity-bump physics was quite therapeutic.

And yes, original title was Mars Defender back in October '22 (UE4.9).

Upgrading to UE5 was exciting especially when I upgraded my machine to a beast of a PC. I was the only student in my class to run on UE5 because as it turns out, the uni's computers CANNOT carry UE5. Most of my peers worked with Unity and I can only name one or two who attempted their project in UE4.

Anyway, I immediately worked on getting the mechanics sorted out and modeled my tank. Deeply looking forward for this to run with the new engine.

Here is how it looked with the early UI of the powerups and health bar. The gun turrets above the tank moves when you aim at things. I initially assigned bones for it but after awhile it got tricky and it was more efficient to run it with codes instead.

After sorting out the UI, it was high time for me to optimize the lighting and reduce some drawcalls. Plus, after getting numerous feedback from playtest at uni and outside of uni circle, I was able to get a lot of the issues out of the way.

Final project submission was mid January '23.

This is how it looked today as the current demo ver. It runs well on both Windows 10 and 11.
