In a vault beneath this monument are deposited the remains of John Burlton. Son of John Whettall Burlton and Elizabeth his wife of English Frankton: He departed this life March 4th 1818 aged 29 years. Also Jane Elizabeth Burlton, Daughter to the above said John Burlton: She died Aug. 24th 1818 aged 15 months.

Eerily, the person who signed the visitors book immediately before me is someone I know. 👀 Either I am stalking her without meaning to or she's stalking me and she's late as usual.

A multi gabled timber framed house with a fascinating history dating from 1421 that has been exquisitely restored over the last fifteen years resulting in a country home of elegance and the upmost poise.

Originally built on land, which during the reign of William the Conqueror was granted to the Abbey of St Peter and St Paul in Shrewsbury, Grade II listed “Burlton Hall”, near to the ancient market town of Shrewsbury, had a succession of both religious and aristocratic owners following the English civil war. Eventually the property came into the ownership of the Chambre-Vaughan family whose initials still remain on the gates today.

In the late 1880’s a dramatic architectural change took place resulting in the house we see today.

Architecturally uniting Medieval and Victoriana this house tells many tales. Of significance is the panelled entrance porch of reclaimed jigsaw carved panelling to both the walls and ceiling which reputedly dates from 1420 and forms an original part of the house. The carved boars head, seen over the entrance arch, is thematically repeated throughout Burlton Hall. 😍🏡🥰
