Re: tokyo mew mew AU
so I changed the whole thing pretty much BUT.
Her animal is still a forest owlet, but her fruit is mangosteen. I changed things to fit mangosteen (quick drawing of mangosteen depicted on the left; ignore my attempt at a star fruit next to it. I was brainstorming)
Tumblr media
Name: Mew Mango (not mangosteen cause that's too long to say :p) (slightly confusing) (I guess the whole thing is fine) (idk) (if anyone feels compelled you can create your own name I'd love to hear one) (I'm not being sarcastic)
Weapon: Da-mango-maru (instrument is a damaru)
Tumblr media
Attack: ribbon mangostaan-u storm-o (or smthn)? (unsure on how well storm and the damaru match. but maybe the sound of the drum could be like rain?)
@ebbpettier
apologies that I took a month. I hope you have not perished
not sure where her mew mark would be? maybe on her back (like mint). I'm slightly tempted to have it on her knee/back of her knee lol
it's probably obvious, but none of this is set in stone
redrew this picture of mint:

A trip to my local Central Market today yielded some lovely finds. Besides figs, burgundy cherry tomatoes, and blueberries, I also got yellow dragonfruit (a favorite), starfruit, red currants, golden berries... and mangosteen! Grelle's fruit! 😆
Here's some info on golden berry: "Golden berries are also known as Inca berry, Peruvian groundcherry, poha berry, goldenberry, husk cherry and cape gooseberry." -- Wikipedia
They are in the nightshade family and taste like a cross between a sweet pepper, mango, and pineapple. Their seeds look like the groundcherry husk tomatoes that I tried to raise this spring but failed. Just like tomatillos, these fruits grow in little husks that are not edible.
I'd never had fresh red currants before, and they are very tangy. Yellow dragonfruit is sweeter and generally has more flavor than the red-skinned variety with white flesh, though the yellow ones also have white flesh. And I love starfruit, though it has an odd flavor; it's a bit hard to describe.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'd never had mangosteen before, so this is exciting. However, I can see for myself that they really do not ship very well, despite their really thick skins. Taste wise, it's a bit like lychee or rambutan -- sweet and kind of floral.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'll be trying to germinate seeds from some of these fruits....

Oh good, I have enough info to fill out this AncientDragonSwap AU.
* Holly Dragon Cookie, the Reddish Green Dragon. Largest of them five and the most often-sighted. Has a flaming-toxic breath which she uses to both incinerate her enemies and give "flavor” to lakes before drinking them whole. Seems to leave the most lineage in her wake as well, between the princess who mimics her wandering lifestyle and the savage tiger tamer, both of whom have drakeblood in their dough.
* Caseus Dragon Cookie, the Golden Dragon. Covered in gleaming scales that she can flex into deadly projectile spines. Has a scouring dust breath. Accumulates golden wealth by demanding tribute from the locals and holes up in a valley to hoard it all. (Not much has really changed...)
* Cacao Dragon Cookie, the Black Dragon. The most heavily-armored and most terrifying of them, at least according to eyewitness accounts. Has a violet bitter-freezing breath. Lords over an impregnable fortress in the cold north; those who attempt to take refuge there are forced into gladitorial combat to prove their strength, and the life force of those who crumble are used by Cacao to keep the fortress’ wards safe. A wandering dark drake Cookie seems to resemble him.
* Lily Dragon Cookie. Meekest of the five. All that is known of her is that she departed from the others long ago, around the same time that the calamities came and the dragons seemed to lose their power. Some claim she may be the only “good” dragon for lack of atrocities...well, none that anyone know of.
* Orchid Dragon Cookie, the White Dragon. Has a penetrating light breath. Rendered inert by the calamity of the past, he slumbers in the ruins of a floating castle until the day that he might be able to restore the dragons’ former strength, as well as undo the atrocities commited against them all in the past. Some desperate Cookies, ignorant of the legends and having nowhere else to go, live dangerously close to the castle.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
* Dragonfruit Cookie, an errant warrior who boasts of the many times they’ve battled the Holly Dragon. Seeks to pick a fight with each of the other Dragons, but keeps encountering distractions such as chieftains who need help with a poisoned reservoir, dark drake-blooded Cookies that attack them out of nowhere, and other powerful Cookies who also seek out the Dragons for their own purposes.
* Pineapple Cookie, a tribe leader in the Tropical Soda Islands and the last geomancer. Seeks to show the world the glory of their faded culture’s magic, which they believe can be done by also besting the Dragons in combat. Takes incredible pride in their abilities, almost(?) to the point of arrogance.
* Lotus Cookie, a bard who became renowned as a famour “healer” in a distant village. In reality, they can only induce extremely-convincing illusions with their music, as well as redirect life force between living beings - powerful tools spent only to earn a comfortable lifestyle. Once the Hydrangea Cookies built a whole culture around them to profit off of that ability, it became suffocatingly difficult for them to leave.
* Lychee Cookie, a small warrior born in the wild who, after years of savage violence against monsters and emotional negligence, attempted to blend in a nearby Rambutan village as an unassuming child. Wields terrifying strength with an axe for their size and loves it, but really just wants others to like them for who they are.
* Longan Cookie, a renowned prophet who foresaw the return of the dragons, and secretly set Dragonfruit Cookie off an a quest to gather other powerful Cookies to prepare for their arrival. Splits their efforts between ensuring Dragonfruit Cookie doesn’t get them all crumbled before that time, trying to locate the elusive Lily Dragon, and investigating the rumors of a “Flame Enchantress” rising from fate’s horizon.

Nagito Komaeda! He’s a huge comfort character for me! <33
Tumblr media
ah yes, the boy™//this ask game
1. favorite thing : his entire CHARACTER man, i love how he's so morally grey, he really does think he's doing well to others by causing them despair and I'd be lying if this ideology didn't cheer me up a few times. 10/10 well written character of contradictions
2. least favorite thing : he's gay 😠😠 um jk, i don't know i just dislike his whole mentally about people being born with talent, i do somewhat like it since he's someone who hates talentless people yet fell in love with someone talentless. it adds to thr many contradictions in his character as a whole
3. favorite line : "i am truly in love with y- the hope that sleeps inside of you.." LISTEN IM SORRY BUT COMFORT SHIP GO BRR- also "leave, i cant stand looking at your face anymore" forever haunts my brain because ”stay.. i want to keep looking at you“ is such a sweet and romantic gesture hnnnggggkk
4. brOTP : platonic👏komanami. komaeda with his usual self deprecative remarks and chiaki with her 10/10 support and care for him. he probably never got to play many games as a kid so chiaki teaches him about the og's™
5. OTP : y'all already know,,, it's ᵏᵒᵐᵃʰⁱⁿᵃ· every single remark from "hey.. can you hear me?" to "lets set off." is just uuugghh peak ROMANCE. ever think about how they spent their FIRST AND LAST appearance in the franchise together?? i do. i do a lot.
6. nOTP : komaeda x girls... sorry girls this man likes ᵐᵉⁿ· also koma//miki,, cause of the first reason and also cause komaeda hated her in chapter 3, since she killed for despair instead of hope. man i thought gay ppl were supposed to stick together 😔
7. random headcanon : he likes salad.. n healthy fresh fruits, probably exotic ones too like dragonfruit and rambutan, those watery sweet foods.. on a more serious note i think hajime (being the ultimate everything) would find a way to cure komaeda, i mean this man is literal DEATH REPELLENT after avoiding death way too many times. cancer can't kill him, surely
8. unpopular opinion : uhhmmm idk man i opinions are him are p vanilla 😔
9. song i associate w them : cracks knuckles ohboy where do we start, have i mentioned im a whore for "I'm in love with my best friend but he doesn't like me back" dynamics??? yeah that seeps into my MUSIC aswell. today i present you heather by conan gray, hidden in the sand by tally hall, and best friend by rex orange county. hidden in the sand specifically is the most fitting imo, sand bc komahina met on the beach floor, the "band" is chiaki (i only ship hinanami when its for komahina angst 😌) he "bid adieu" since he liked chiaki more than komaeda, komaeda wanted to love too. a band to fall in love with maybe a pony? "you told me to buy a pony but all i wanted was you"
10. favorite picture :

Stay healthy with Premium Fruits from Fruits Delivery Singapore | The Fruits Hut
Tumblr media
Do you eat to live or do you live to eat? This is the question that people often ask to understand what you value as a person. I live to eat. The taste, the aroma of all these dishes dancing on your tongue is a dream of its own. I guess that’s why I’ve been rapidly moving in the food reviews category recently.
At the same time, not all food is good for your body. Delicious dishes like pizza are often bad for you. Thus, I’m dawdling into the health food category to make your food work for you. In the previous health food review, I touched on Acai Bowls, a wonderful bowl that is high in antioxidants and low in carbohydrates. In this post, I will be introducing a variety of fruits.
Remember when you’re young and your mother kept nagging you to eat your fruits and vegetables? There’s a reason for that. Fruits and vegetables are known to lower blood pressure, reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke and even prevent some types of cancer. They provide important vitamins and nutrients to ensure your body works properly. This is especially important if you hate going to the doctors. After all, an apple a day keeps the doctor away.
Tumblr media
Exotic Tropical Fruits
As a person that has sweet tooth, fruits are always a treat to me. I consume apples, pears, oranges and even kiwis regularly. So much so that, I’m getting tired of the ordinary fruits diet. Thus, I decided to spice things up and order some exotic tropical fruits from Fruits Delivery Singapore instead. With a curious mindset, I also ordered one of those fruits juice in the premium glass bottle that I always look at but never get.
When the order arrives, it came in a Kiwi box with a cute blue bow on top. I thought the bow was such a cute addition to the order. They even cling wrap the items in place such that it looked like a fruits hamper. That was such a thoughtful and beautiful way to present the order. Before I continue with the review, let me introduce more about Fruits Delivery Singapore first.

Fruits Delivery Singapore
Coming back to my order of exotic tropical fruits and drink from Fruits Delivery Singapore, I got myself 5 items:
USA Dinosaur Grenade (3 pcs)
Custard Apple (L)
Ecuador Yellow Dragonfruit (M)
Soursop Platter - Changed to Watermelon Platter
Japan Pomelo Juice (500ml)
Tumblr media
Japan Pomelo Juice (500ml)
Since Yuzu season is round the corner, I decided to get one of the luxury looking Japan Pomelo Juice. I have chosen the Pomelo juice for Pomelos or also known as Yuzu are known to boost immunity and prevents premature ageing. It is highly nutritious and contains powerful antioxidants. It also contains Vitamin A, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B5 and more.
Japan Pomelo Juice Review
The Japan Pomelo Juice comes in a long mattee glass bottle with a gold foil top, resembling a bottle of alcohol. A bottle opener is needed to open its tight seal. When opened a fresh Yuzu smell tickles my nose, enticing me to have a sip straight from the bottle. However, I held myself back and gently pour it into a cup before gulping it down instead. The Pomelo Juice tasted concentrated and sweet. Due to the thickness of the juice and the slightly bitter after taste, I believed that some part of the membranes were blended in to make the juice as well. The good thing about having such a thick juice was you can mix it with water to make it last longer. I do enjoy the pomelo juice for its tropical taste but I understand how it will only appeal to specific people due to its aftertaste.
Tumblr media
Ecuador Yellow Dragonfruit (M)
Pink dragonfruits are a common sight here but yellow dragonfruits are something special to me. Yellow dragonfruits strengthen immunity and help with cardiovascular health. Its seeds have omega 3 fats that help with fungal and bacterial infections and autoimmune diseases in organ systems.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ecuador Yellow Dragonfruit Review
The yellow dragonfruit is of a white-fleshed variety. There is a slight crunch to it that made it resemble a kiwifruit texture. The dragonfruit has a mouthwatering sweetness that melts into your mouth with every bite. The juices from the flesh flood your tastebuds as the seeds shatter to the pressure of your bite. According to my mother, the yellow dragonfruit was a little bit old for the seeds are hard. Plus, the dragonfruit was not sour at all. That also determines the age of the dragonfruit since fresh dragonfruit tends to be a bit sour. On the other hand, I do enjoy this dragonfruit as it is for the sweetness, juiciness and slight crunch to it makes it such a delightful and healthy snack to have.
Tumblr media
Custard Apple (L)
Custard apples, an exotic fruit that looks like a dragon egg. Ever since I’ve discovered the existence of custard apples, I’ve always wanted to try them. However, custard apples are not commonly sold in the supermarkets here. The last time I saw a custard apple was in Mustafa and that is considered an insanely far location for me. Luckily on Fruits Delivery Singapore, they sell exotic tropical fruits such as custard apples too.
Tumblr media
I got a large custard apple that arrived to be bigger than the size of my palm. It was huge! The custard apple came unripe thus we have to wait a few days to a week before we can consume it. Aside from its exotic-looking exterior, the custard apple is a very beneficial fruit for us. They contain Vitamin C and Vitamin A. These Vitamins helps your body fight free radicals and they keep your skin and hair healthy. At the same time, they are a treat for those that love sweets but they might be a problem for those who are looking to lose weight. It have 28% sugar so if you have too much custard apples, you may see some weight gain.
Tumblr media
Custard Apple Review
The custard apple was a pleasant surprise. As a virgin custard apple consumer, I did not expect the custard apple to smell like sweet corn. It has a crunchy pear texture with a flavour that resembles soursop and corn. The intense sweetness and slight sourness made it feel like a circus erupted in my mouth. The excitement that I felt when the custard apple somersault was indescribable. Instantly, the custard apple top the charts as one of my favourite exotic fruits.
Tumblr media
Watermelon Platter (450g)
If you’re looking at this and wondering, what’s so exotic about watermelon? They are one of the most common fruits you find in Singapore. You are right. There’s nothing exotic about a platter of sliced watermelon. I didn’t order them at first. I ordered a platter of soursop.
On the day of the delivery, I got a call informing me that the soursop platter that they have was not fresh so they can’t deliver it to their customers. Therefore, they gave me a list of fruits to choose from and I immediately jump on the opportunity to get a platter of watermelon. I think it was thoughtful and ethical of them to decide to not sell stale items even though it may cost them their profit.
As for the watermelon, I love watermelon so I would seize any opportunity to get a platter of watermelon. What is there to not like about watermelon? They quench your thirst while replenishing your body with the vitamins you need. Each bite of watermelon contains 92% water and 6 per cent sugar. It is a good source of Vitamin C, rich in amino acid and lower blood pressure.
Watermelon Platter Review
On the external cling wrap of the watermelon platter, there were instructions of what temperature you should chill the watermelon and a best before date. There were enough watermelon slices for 3 people on the platter and each slice was cut in the shape of a medium-sized triangle. The watermelon was fresh, juicy and sweet. The perfect healthy snack to quench your thirst and fill your belly.
Tumblr media
USA Dinosaur Grenade (3 pcs)
The last exotic fruit on the list is three pieces of USA Dinosaur Grenade. Although they look like a version of plum, its curious name still got me puzzled so we got them. These Dinosaur Grenades are variants of Pluots. They are a cross between an apricot and a plum that are nutritious and low in fat. They are also known as Dinosaur eggs in other places. The USA Dinosaur Grenade comes in a pack of 3 in a see-through plastic container.
Tumblr media
USA Dinosaur Grenade Review
The USA Dinosaur Grenade had the texture of a plum. It was firm but mushy at the same time. It had smooth skin and juicy flesh. Unlike the plum, when you reached the centre, there was no seed. As this is a hybrid fruit, I was able to see different colours in the flesh. Although it is in the pluot family, I find it to be sweeter than the usual plum. It even tasted like honey. If you’re into plums, the USA Dinosaur Grenade is a great hybrid for you to try.

Thai food is famous for its spiciness, but in northern Thailand, especially in the district of Chiang Mai, influences from Burma and China are distinct. This results to milder curries and a more pronounced use of other ingredients such as ginger and turmeric. This may not sound appealing to some, but I tell you: it’s sinfully goooooood. ‘Rose of the North’ last October, surely I wouldn’t pass on the chance of going on a food trip — especially since Chiang Mai (and Thailand in general) is praised for its rich and flavorful dishes, more so for those that you find on the streets and public markets.
Now, there are a lot of night bazaars and market avenues in the city and it could get really dizzying; but you can go to
» READ: Top 10 Things To Do in Chiang Mai, Thailand
After you sort that out, continue down to this list to see the top 10 Chiang Mai street food dishes that you should absolutely try and not miss out! .title-bar:after, .title-bar:before, .title-bar:after, .title-bar:before, h2{ border-color: }
Chiang Mai Street Food
#1 – Khao Soi (Egg Noodle Curry)
Photo
from Rachel Moon/Shutterstock You can choose from beef, chicken, or pork khao soi; obviously, I took chicken for this one.
A Burmese-influenced dish, though its name translates to ‘cut rice’, it is actually made up of deep-fried crispy egg noodles dipped in a coconut milk curry soup. It is always accompanied with a dish of shallots, cilantro, lime, pickled mustard, ginger, and chili paste.
This was rich and flavorful wherein the taste of the soup was akin to that of yellow curry; but of a thinner consistency and not so spicy. Apparently, khao soi comes in different types: some serve it in curdled blood, rice noodles, etc. but this one that we ate was a Traditional Lanna Style type of khao soi.
For this type of Chiang Mai street food, it is available in every food place, but we recommend you to try out a local favorite of Thais: Khao Soi Samerjai located at 91 Charernras, Fahharm, Mueang Chiangmai (beside restaurant Wat Fa Ham). In here, they also offer other various Thai dishes that if you fancy, you could absolutely try! #2 – Khanom Jeen or Khanom Chin
Photo from SAHACHATZ/Shutterstock While we were strolling around Warorot Market, we saw a LOT of these small dimly-lit sections in which a lot of Thai people are eating dinner. One thing we noticed distinctly is that they were mixing a lot of stuff from the veggies that were laid out in their tables. We wondered what it was, and here we discovered khanom jeen or khanom cheen, a very common and CHEAP but filling Chiang Mai street food made of thin rice noodles.
It first starts with you, choosing the kind of soup that you’d like. It could be (1) chicken in coconut curry soup, (2) fish balls in curry soup, or (3) pork blood soup. This will then be mixed with white noodles which are thin fermented rice vermicelli (it’s like spaghetti, but thinner — which makes a lot of people say that this is like Thailand’s version of spaghetti).
They will put this in a bowl, and then when you sit down, there are free vegetable ‘toppings‘ for you to use: raw string beans (I was surprised to see them eating this raw! I’m not used eating it raw…), basil, beansprouts, pickled mustard greens, shredded cabbage, and chili. Sometimes they include fried pork grind and eggs, but these eggs are not part of the free ‘toppings’ as this will cost you ฿10 baht for one.
Now I could not believe that I only paid ฿20 baht for this. I was already very full and yet it was only less than a dollar! Plus: it tasted VERY good too! It was insane, that you should just try it for yourself. #3 – Sai Oua (Grilled Spicy Herb Sausage)
Photo from LaysRock/Shutterstock A lot of street vendors sell different meat balls or pieces on a stick. Usually, beside those sticks are these ‘Northern Style’ sausages that are coiled around in a shape that reminds me of what else but… poo. But don’t let that stop you.
This can be piping hot and spicy since after taking a bite from it, it first gave me a tinge of herbs but then it was quickly followed by a sudden rush of chili — it was fiery! But still delicious and rich in its own way.
Made from ground pork, this sai oua is filled with spices such as lemongrass, cilantro, shallots, pepper, galangal, and dried chilies. As if that wasn’t enough, they mix in chili paste too! Sounds scary, right? But it’s worth a try!
Apparently, to mellow down the burst of spice, this is best paired with… #4 – Sticky Rice
Photo from wason yuyatmak/Shutterstock
This Chiang Mai street food was a JOY to eat. We have sticky rice back at home in the Philippines, but not in a way that’s prepared like this: mixed with sweet stuff!
There are different kinds of sticky or glutinous rice in Thailand and they’re usually wrapped around in banana leaves. Some are mixed with fruits (hence the famed Thai mango sticky rice as pictured above), with coconut, with violet rice, with beans, or with egg custard. Sometimes they even put artificial colors on the rice!
For me, I loved the egg custard the most! You can usually buy these sticky rice packs on the streets and #5 – Pad Thai
Photo from Victor FlowerFly/Shutterstock I bet you’ve seen this coming!
Aside from sampling curries across Thailand, pad thai is another dish that you shouldn’t skip on — its huge popularity speaks for itself in the first place! And as what you may already know, it’s a stir-fried rice noodle often with different toppings and sauces.
You might have already tasted it from the Thai restaurants near your hometown, but you should definitely try pad thai that’s from Thailand itself. It’s very tasty and savory! This was the first Thai dish that I actually fell in love with when I first had my taste of ‘Thai’ in a restaurant in Manila; and tasting it here in Chiang Mai was even better! #6 – Quail Eggs
Photo from Evgeny Ermakov/Shutterstock This is another one of those Chiang Mai street food stalls filled with people — so I had to try it out! For this, they are simply fried quail eggs that are mixed with coconut milk; but, there are other types that are mixed rather with fish and soy sauce.
They weren’t too sweet and they were very scrumptious in every bite. It was the perfect ‘dessert’ to cap one of the nights where we went ‘street food’ shopping in Chiang Mai. #7 – Som Tam or Som Tum (Green Papaya Salad)
Photo from Tortoon/Shutterstock This is basically made up of shredded green papaya. They would first pound the chili, tomatoes, garlic, and long beans into a mortar; and then they’ll add the papaya, bruising it well so as to incorporate the flavors of the former set of ingredients. What comes after will be fish sauce, lime, sugar, and some nuts.
I think if you ordered for the special that costs ฿5-10 baht more, they will add seafood to it!
At first I was scared that it would be really spicy — as with any normal initial reaction to a new Thai dish — but gladly enough, it wasn’t! There was a hint of spiciness of course, but everything was so well balanced that I wouldn’t mind having som tam for appetizers from now on.
So try it too, especially since it’s also one of the very popular Chiang Mai street food dishes. #8 – Kaeb Moo (Crispy Pork Rinds)
Photo from Regreto/Shutterstock This is much like chicharon from the Philippines so I was pleasantly surprised that it also exists in Chiang Mai! As such, kaeb moo are simply crispy friend pork rinds often mixed with salt and garlic. (Sometimes even with chili).
To date, it has different variations: (1) curls of just the crunchy skin or rind with a part of fat for added goodness and cholesterol, haha! Obviously, for those into healthy-eating, it’s fine to taste one or a few just to remember how delicious a pig’s fat can be. #9 – Grilled Pork, Fish, or Chicken
Photo from Evgeny Ermakov/Shutterstock Aside from the variations of small meat stuck on a stick, it’s also great if you could try the bigger portions: grilled fish, grilled pork parts, and grilled chicken.
They can be veeeery tasty! And sometimes, when you order chopped parts of these, it comes along with chili or some other seasoning. I personally think that this is a good Chiang Mai street food when you’re about to launch into a night of drinks with your friends. Prices for this vary, but often times, chopped parts of pork or chicken costs around ฿40 to 60 baht. #10 – Exotic Food!
Photo from Chaikom/Shutterstock Surely, Thailand has its own set of crazy street food too. I ate a cricket before in the Philippines and they had grasshoppers too — however, they were very small and the insects in Chiang Mai were biiiiiig.
I am not putting this on this list for its taste (though some will find it good; but all I taste is fear and crunchiness). I’m rather putting this on this list for the experience, as well as for you to have the ‘bragging rights’ of saying that you’ve ate one! Haha, and besides, Bear Grylls did say that these pack a LOT of protein and with no fat! So, why not?
Aside from crickets, there are ant eggs, silkworms, bats, dried lizard, etc. etc. etc.
» READ: My Experience Eating Insects in Chiang Mai
Other ‘normal’ exotic food that are NOT insects would have to be the usual Asian fruits: mangosteen, durian, lanzones, jackfruit, dragonfruit, rambutan, sugar apple, and basically every weird fruit that you see that you normally don’t see in your country. (Make it a challenge among your travelling buddies to make it more fun!). .title-bar:after, .title-bar:before, .title-bar:after, .title-bar:before, h2{ border-color: }

Overall
As per common sense, be mindful that street food is famous for its poor sanitation and health rating (not all, but some — or okay, most of them) so, proceed at your own risk. But I personally think that it’s totally fine, as long as it’s on moderation. And besides, it would be such a pity if you skip on these when they’re not only sooooooo yummy, but also incredibly CHEAP.
And surely, finding and spotting these Thai dishes is also very fun!

I was sitting and planning today, sketching out rough ideas for how we might organise the experimental plantings around the Nursery at Tampah Hills. I want 100 different species of fruits and Nuts growing at Tampah hills by December 31st 2019 Weve been putting in things like Avocado, Rambutan and Jackfruit recently, that like the well watered microclimates But the hill above our Nursery is Dry. So we will make it a Food forest for things that like the dry conditions, so that we can sparingly irrigate there. Ive just GPS marked all existing trees so we can remodel the hill planting. But you could picture it with hardy shrubs and trees, like Indian Moringa, Pomegranates, Srikaya, Acerola, Mango, Indian Jujube and Cactus fruits. Then beneath them the dry herbs like Aloe vera, Cuban oregano, Rosemary, curry leaf, Wild basils and Pineapples Perhaps a limited vine component with Grape, Butterfly pea, Dragonfruit and Lima Beans Our primary tree legume would be Sesbania grandiflora, and Tephrosia and Crotalaria throughout. Seasonal pigeon peas or mung bean covercrop. Vetiver and lemongrass help provide mulch. Its fun to play with another kind of Tropical vegetation other than the wet forests. Its also very useful. À lot of people own Dry degraded land, so having this small but complete demonstration garden will be a great educational tool #100fruits #buah #lahankering #tahanpanas #fruits #tampahhills #educational #experimentalgarden #drytropics #permaculture #nursery #lombok https://www.instagram.com/p/BxxarG2gnks/?igshid=yde5lps3mkem

A little background
I’ve decided throughout the year that I was going to eat better and cruel-free. Believe me, it wasn’t always my plan! Lol it must have started off when I was first introduced to veganism 5 years ago…. Which i did not agree with. I was very closed-minded to the idea of cutting out meat and dairy. I thought it was stupid.
After a couple of years and dedication to yoga, I soon felt the negativity and anger over this lifestyle was lifting. I was beginning to accept it, still not understanding, but accepted it. In 2015 when I went to Costa Rica with my girlfriend Ashley, I remember saying to her, “wtf babe? They only serve vegan food there :/” and we both just laughed at the thought of our survival being slim in a place without meat haha… But little did we know that all the nutrients we needed were right from Mother Earth herself and we were just fine.
That was my first time eating vegan. I absolutely loved it!!! However, a week of this wonderful food wasnt going to last very long once I arrived back home, in Toronto… Being raised in a typical Filipino household, Pork, Fish, beef and chicken were regular main dishes. I was never a big meat eater anyway. Picking around the meat was naturally what I did since I could remember. I tried my best to avoid eating meat when I could but the temptation of a delicious, juicy steak, was so hard to pass up. I’m 2013, I was extremely constipated. Could not pass anything for almost 5 days and when I finally went, I endured so much cramping and pain, cried and gripped the towel rack so right and then! Instant relief. I had finally let a tiny piece out! Later in the week, I was showering at the Gym when I noticed a lump near my lower abdomen and upon examining it with my hand, the lump went back inside of me !!! I was immediately grossed out and began describing it out loud for my girl to hear, when another woman said I might have a hernia and surgery for it. “great! Im gonna die!” I thought. Well, I went in for surgery, got it fixed and from that point on I said I would aim to cut out meat. My body simply can’t break down the meat so let’s start…

I went to Bali, Indonesia last February 2015 for 3 weeks of intense Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training. It was the most invigorating, frustrating, and emotional time for me but nonetheless, it was worth every minute. They fed us the freshest tropical fruit, like Snake fruit, Mangoes, Dragonfruit, Rambutan, etc. All their ingredients were organically made by their fresh crop growing just outside the resort walls. Everything was Vegan and it was beautiful. I was still a meat eater at the time but refrained from meat for every part except for 1 day, when I grabbed the juiciest burger from one small meat restaurant amongst the plenty vegan restos along the street. I knew this would cause me some constipation but I ate it anyway….
During this yoga training, we learned a ton about the principles and morals of yoga and one of then was AHIMSA. The act of non-violence, non-harm, and non-injury, to ALL living creatures. Its also said that most yogis who have been practicing for decades or those who are awakening, end up being vegan due to this yogic moral. I, for one, didnt quite understand that still so when I came home I just ate less and less meat.
I started with just having seafood and that lasted about 2 months before I turned vegetarian for another couple months and then finally, Vegan in November….
So here we go. My journey really begins…
