P5R: Rebel Girl (A FeMC Story/P5R Rework) Chapter 218: Black and White
Sunday, Yusuke had left the dorm. He was working on his piece for the upcoming art exhibit, but he needed to take care of one last thing before he could finish. Determined, he moved forward.
He found himself sitting in a room facing a paine. Coming to sit down on the other side was Madarame: his mentor, his oppressor, his father figure. Madarame was shocked by this visitation. “Yusuke?!”
“Hello…Madarame…” Yusuke said.
“What are you doing here?” Madarame asked.
Yusuke hesitated to answer. “As much as I hate to admit this…ever since we’ve parted ways, I’ve been having some struggles as an artist.”
“Heh,” Madarame chuckled. “Why come to me then? I’m a fraud. I haven’t made anything this century.”
Yusuke glared at him. “I came here to face you down once more. You have always been the demon plaguing my mind. As much as I want to, I can’t break away from you, at least not completely.”
“Heh. So, you want to figure out what button I’m still pressing,” Madarame chortled. “Very well. It’s the least I can do.”
Yusuke nodded. “You viewed art as a vehicle to fame and wealth. I do not wish to fall into such a trap. And yet, I feel like I need to necessitate that in order to keep being an artist.”
Madarame chuckled. “I see. I see. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t, huh.”
“I have no intention of becoming you,” Yusuke reiterated. “But I need to move on, and I can’t do that if you are still holding me down.”
“Well then tell me,” Madarame said. “How have I held you down? I’ve been in prison for a little while, so I don’t know what’s going on in that mind of yours.”
Yusuke huffed. “I want to paint something that is untainted by the darkness that lives inside of me and the rest of the world. Something that is pure art. Something like the Sayuri.” Madarame started laughing. “What?! Stop laughing!”
Madarame calmed down, but was still having fits of laughter. “Oh Yusuke, Yusuke, Yusuke… Do you really think that the Sayuri was painted to be ‘pure art’?”
“Well…” Yusuke replied.
“Listen…” Madarame said. “I might not be all there anymore, but I still remember some things. And I remember that quite well. Her husband died before her son was born, leaving her to raise a child by herself. She was frail due to a sickness that she suffered through. And I, as her master, was going through a bout of artist’s block, and could not help her as much as she needed to. And you know what she did? She painted!”
Yusuke was stunned. Madarame continued. “She didn’t paint because everything was going her way. Nothing was going her way. The whole world was against her, and yet she painted. She wanted the world to know how much she loved you, so she painted. She wanted the world to know that despite all of the darkness, she was happy so long as she had her hobby and she had you. THAT is what art is! If all you care about is pure art, you won’t paint something HALF as good as the Sayuri.”
Yusuke glared at Madarame. “You seem to know a lot about art suddenly,” he remarked.
“Heh,” Madarame chuckled. “Well, when you only have your thoughts to keep you company, you learn a thing or two about yourself. It’s nice to not have to pretend anymore, you know. I can use the energy to muse about all sorts of things.”
“Hm,” Yusuke smirked. “Well, despite all of that, I think you do have a point. There are times I miss the forest for the trees, and times where I miss the trees for the forest.  But I think you’ve opened my eyes here. I don’t need to let go of you. I need to use you. I need to stop thinking of you as inhibiting my ability to paint, and start thinking of you as just another color on the palette.”
He stood up, laughing. “Thank you, Madarame. Today is the day I officially stop being your pupil. You’ve taught me the last lesson you ever could. Art isn’t about looking the best, but capturing a feeling. And life isn’t about maintaining a high, but how we can get back up when we are low. And I have a plethora of friends who can help me. And I have my art. And as long as I have those, I cannot fail!”
“Heh,” Madarame chuckled. “I’m glad I taught you something at least.”
“Heh heh,” Yusuke chuckled. “I suppose that’s fair.” He nodded. “Well, I hope that given more time to think, you’ll become a better person out of it.”
Madarame smiled. “Well, with you believing in me, I think I have a shot.”
Yusuke nodded. “Farewell.” He left.
Madarame chuckled some more. “Your son is something special, eh Hoshiko? I’m ashamed it took me this long to see it. Especially since it was in that painting of yours. But better late than never, I suppose.” He then headed back to his cell.
Meanwhile, Yusuke arrived back at his dorm, and began to put the finishing touches on his painting for the exhibit. Taking what he had learned, he poured his soul into it. Come what may, he knew his art was what he wanted, and what he needed, and that was enough for him.

ok while there's p3 salt going on, one thing real quick; in the first trailer with the Armbands theme I was legit excited about the possibility of dynamic music being used/added to Persona and all the new atmosphere and seamless transitions that could lead to, only for them not to do that at all; arguably the best new P3 music was used for a single cutscene for the not-pt outfits and I'm legit disappointed argh... really made a quote unquote 'new' soundtrack and did nothing with it (Hot take I'm not a fan of the new battle themes they sound like dollar value PQ songs, I miss the hip-hop emphasis from the og soundtrack)
(oh there's salt going on with this new revelation anon......there's so much salt I'm barely holding it together. I'm barely holding it back. It may be going on for awhile actually. Anyway, I'll take your salt for now TT0TT)
Oh yeah, dynamic music woulda been so good! And...wow Armbands really was only for that one fucking scene. TT0TT It felt more like a battle theme, that sucks.............
Yeah the lack of Fuuka changing Tartarus music (really I think we have to wait for a DLC? >:/), the lack of dynamic music, wasting a song slot for bs (did we REALLY need those new outfits? :/ I only have Aki wearing it tbh), and the lack of a soundtrack toggel for Yumi.....it's just.......upsetting.
I don't mind the new music, but yeah I miss the hip hop elements of the OG. They didn't need to remake the music tbh. EVEN IF they needed a new singer for like 2/3 new songs, they could've just hired the new singer for those songs and continued onward. It's not gonna kill them having multiple singers for one MC (FeMC had like 3 not including LJ and she's doing.....fine.....*sobs laughs* What I mean you can play her route without it feeling jarring XU)
The only issue I have with the new music (ignoring the lack of an option for the old), is the mumble still annoys me. Thankfully I circumvented it by 1) not really paying attention to it when it is playing, 2) been playing with ROTTT and Fog and Face Myself so..... 8U P4 coming in to save me yet again (it felt odd at first, but it didn't look like they'd give me an option to switch to only Mass Destruction or It's Going Down???? and I wanted it consistent so I went with the P4 music).
I wonder if modders have the old songs back in....... If so I wonder what they replace Color Your Night with. I nominate Moonlight Serendipity, Never Ending Night, or Place of My Heart (Moemi ver and Lyn Ver).
MS I think fits it the best, but it's just such a shame NEN is stuck in Pachinko hell ;w; PoMH has more FeMC/P3(/5)D vibes (and bc of FeMC it has more of a battle theme opener, but once you get to the chorus it mellows out).
God I hate how stingy they are with the BMG music. Just lemme play what I wanna play in the overworld.....I'd much rather the songs be unlockable as you go through the story (like you can listen to Burn My Dread Last Battle on NG+ and such)

NSFW Prompts: “Look how good you take it.” with Vil/ with FeMC (or GNMC if your prefer)?
A/N: No clue why but I watched a lot of hentai yesterday to get some ideas for other fandoms and Vil just popped into my head...so I’m going to thank the horny part of my brain! Also I decided to go with a gender neutral reader! Hope you don’t mind!
Warnings: Dub-con, cock-warming, Face-fucking, cum-eating/drinking,  hypnosis and Vil wanting to relax so he asks for your help...kinda.
Vil Schoenheit
Epel’s step was still sloppy on the third count.
Not to mention Ace and Deuce were still stiff as boards when it came time for their cue.
Only Jamil seemed to be showing any progress.
He sighs and places both hands on the old bed he was sitting in, looking around the Ramshackle room as he nitpicked every single possible detail that could be fixed if this had been a proper dorm. It wasn’t though so he wasn’t going to waste possible mind power on something as useless as that.
This was his time to relax.
Vil’s hands go down to the cup the back of your head and finally looks down at the person on the floor.
“You really are eager to help me relax...right Prefect?”
The tears in your eyes slide down your cheeks, your eyes looking up at Vil with so much reverence as he gently slides you away from his cock only for his hand to push you forward, the tip of the head once again sliding down your throat as you close your eyes and concentrate on breathing through your nose.
Your mouth was so wonderfully warm as your tongue struggled to move below his shaft.
Vil was a genius for thinking of this idea.
Making you the manager of their little team for the VDC was all his idea. He had sensed that these idiots would need more than one handler and he wasn’t going to just hand you the prize money if you sat on your ass and did nothing. So he figured that the next best thing would be to have you do the least and keep you busy with menial tasks while he took care of everything else.
But even then he didn’t think you deserved the money.
You weren’t the one stressing out about five potatoes who were nowhere close to learning the correct dances moves. Vil had done everything to try and relax in these moments of high stress and had even resorted to masturbation which only provided a small relief only for him to have to go through the whole ordeal of cleaning up.
So why shouldn’t he be putting you to work a bit more?
It had been childishly simple, really. He had brewed up a potion that resembled the effects of Jamil’s unique magic, invited you for some before bedtime tea and simply waited as you drank the whole thing and remained perfectly still for the next few seconds. As an experienced potion maker Vil knew he would need to run some test trials to see how you were reacting and how long the effects would last...
But the bulge in his pants was speaking louder than the voice in his head.
Vil had managed to watch the first two practices he had filmed today without an ounce of stress as he slowly guided you to worship his cock. The small kitten licks on the head had become boring as he guided you to take in the whole thing, a shiver going up his spine as you when you had gotten halfway. He guided your head, bobbing it up and down before pulling you away entirely so that your mouth sucked only on the head as he applied some edible salves around the base of his cock.
It had taken a few minutes of fucking your throat open but soon enough he had the phone in his hands again, watching the practices with a smile as the warmth of your throat engulfed him completely.
And this is where you two had stayed, your mouth obediently around him as he completed his task for the night.
“A whole hour on your knees and still no resistance whatsoever.” perfectly manicured fingers wipe away another forming tear, “I already came twice down your throat...and you’re going to be ready for another one.”
Vil feels your throat relax in response, your eyes closing as the gentle hold on your head turns harsh, his hand gripping locks of your hair and pulling you away only to slam inside your mouth. He closes his eyes and tilts his head back, focusing on the warmth of your mouth and the gagging of your throat. It was just like using a toy but the moment he looked down he would not be faced with cold plastic but instead with the anomaly of the Night Raven College.
The Ramshackle Prefect obediently sucking on his cock to help him relieve stress. How fitting was that for him?
“Look how good you take it~” he stands up and tilts your head upwards so his cock could slide easier down your throat as he kept pushing you back to meet his thrusts--!
He gasps as he feels himself cum. Biting his bottom lip, he thrusts all the way back in and keeps your head in place while his other hand goes to your throat so that he could feel you swallowing down all of what was gushing out. Vil couldn’t help but smile as your throat bobbed while you drank it all, eyes still open and looking at him as if what he was doing was the most normal thing in the world.
“Haah...hahaha...I’m still--I can still keep going.”
Vil wastes no time in thrusting again, his pace this time sloppy and rough as he let his mouth hang open.
When was the last time he had felt this good? Every time you gagged it was like another one of his troubles was just popping away, leaving nothing behind but the feeling of your throat taking all of his cock all the way down to the base. And he knew you didn’t have experience with this, he had to work you open nice and slow to even get your nose to be pressed right against his pubes so being able to thrust into you as if you were nothing more than a toy...was enlightening.
“Cumming...cumming cumming cumming--keep this load in your mouth--!”
He didn’t know how he managed to even say words at this point but the command had been loud and clear.
You let the cum collect on your tongue as Vil starts to even out his breathing, finally collecting himself as he slowly rode down the high of two orgasms in a row.
“Good. Always so obedient, prefect.” he cups your cheek, “Stay until it’s all out and savor the taste...”
Amethyst eyes look down as he tugs on your hair to pull you away from his cock, the head sliding out with a ‘pop’ as you held a finger to your mouth.
“Roll it around for a moment before opening your mouth. Make sure nothing spills out...”
The smell of cum is thick as Vil watches you carry out his orders, your moving for a moment before you open it to reveal the hot, sticky substance pooling inside while you looked at him as if he had just said good morning to you.
“How unsavory...but I can forgive it for calming my nerves. Swallow.”
Vil licks his lips at how loud you had swallowed, opening your mouth again to show that you had done what you were told. He looked back at the clock in the room as he pressed your head against his thigh and rubbing his thumb against your temple.
“An hour and twenty minutes.” he smiles and nods in approval, “Perfect.”
Another seven weeks to prepare for the VDC and he had just found the perfect de-stressor.
There was no way he wasn’t going to win.

Stress Ball
(IMPORTANT: i know FeMC doesn’t have a name and technically doesn’t exist, but I didn’t really feel like just writing “mc” over and over so i named her Kaiya. Anyway, enjoy this absolute mess)
Natsuki and Kaiya are sitting in one of the seldom used school hallways, avoiding the loud chaos of the cafeteria as was the usual for the two of them. But with both Yuri and Sayori out sick, that left Monika by herself in the crowd. Sure enough, they soon see her speed walking towards them. Nat turns and waves.
“Oh! Hey moni-“
They both notice Monika looks incredibly stressed and has not shifted her tired looking eyes from the smaller of the pair. Suddenly, Natsuki’s eyes widen.
“W-wait, hold on, you’re not gonna..!”
Monika is still speed walking and her face has literally not changed at all. Kaiya just looks between the two in confusion as Natsuki’s sudden unexplained state of panic worsens.
“D-d-don’t!!! N-not here!! You- You promised you wouldn’t tell anyone!!”
Monika finally speaks up, but it’s deadpan and she’s clearly not slowing down, nor planning on changing her mind about whatever it is she intends to do.
“good thing I’m not telling anyone anything”
The pink haired girl stammers before beginning to plead with the club president.
“Th-that’s not-! C-come on!! Monika!! Please d-don’t!!”
She turns to run but only gets a few steps in before being grabbed around the waist.
“Monika please MonikYAAAAA!!!!”
The younger girl shrieks as her sides are squeezed. She tries to fight it and squirm away, but her legs are already shaking. She squeals as she’s squeezed again.
“EEEEP!! Nnngh! Monika stop stohop! Th-this isn’t faiEEE!! Nnnnn!”
Monika shrugged as she continued pinching and squeezing Natsuki.
“Yeeeeaaaah, but you’re just such a good stress ball.” She said in mock concern while moving her hands up and pressing her fingers into her classmate’s ribs. “Good for piano practice, too.”
Nat squeezed her eyes shut as she tried to fight the forced smile spreading across her face, struggling around in her friend’s grasp.
“Do you always have to be this stubborn?” Monika teased the girl squirming uselessly in her arms, earning her another squeak and a decent kick to the shin. She faked a gasp before reaching one arm completely around her panicked, blushing little stress ball, pinning her arms to her sides. “Not so sure that was a good move in your current position, Nat.”
With that, Monika reached her free hand under Natsuki’s shirt and scribbled her nails across her tummy.
“G-GH-GYAAAHAHAHAHA! NOOOHOHOHOOO!!!”
The girl screamed as she burst into laughter, her legs finally giving out and sending her to the floor. Monika followed right after her, making sure she stayed upright, but mostly to continue her stress relief session.
“S-STOHOHOHOP!!!! NNNYAAAAHAHAHAHAHA!!!”
“Aaah, like music to my ears.” Monika smiled, closing her eyes in contentment.
Kaiya was completely frozen in confusion and surprise. She had just watched her usually cold and closed off friend be tickled to the ground. To say it was unexpected would be an understatement.
“KAIYAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!! H-HEHEEELP!!!! AAAAHAHAHA!!!”
The sudden and desperate cry from Natsuki snapped her back to reality. Kaiya took a few steps towards them, turning to Monika.
“Uh… uuhm..?” Was all she could manage to get out, but it was enough. She watched as the unprovoked attacker withdrew her hand from her victim’s shirt and stood.
“Wow, I needed that even more than I thought”
Monika smiles to herself. Kaiya turns to her, still extremely confused.
“Soooo… what did I just experience here??”
Natsuki looks up from the ground where she now sits with her legs folded outward, clutching her sides and shaking slightly.
“NOTHING! You saw… NOTHING!!” She forced out between heavy breaths.
“I’m pretty sure I did…”
Natsuki flinches.
“GH-! uuuuugh..!”
Monika and Kaiya smile at each other. The former holds out a hand to help her friend up.
“Thank you for your service!” 😁
The smaller girl gives her the most intense scowl she’s ever seen, but still grabs her hand.
But before Nat could fully get to her feet, Kaiya reached out and poked her in the ribs, causing the already flustered girl to squeak and stumble backwards to the floor once again, landing on her butt. She looks up at the brunette with a look of shock and betrayal before quickly burying her face in her hands. Kaiya giggles softly as Monika turns to her with a look that somehow manages to convey both disappointment and pride.
Before long, the bell sounds as both club members help the third up for real, and soon the three part, with mood raised, secrets learned, and dignity lost.
Well, thats it. If you want to see more of this type of thing from me, go ahead and let me know, inbox is always open. Im also tagging @ramenbunnyy since they showed particular interest.
Reblogs always appreciated!

46 + Aigis/MC or FeMC?
46. “As long as I get to hold your hand.”
femc gets nightmares sometimes and the only person she’ll admit it to is aigis.
*
It is sometimes the case that Minako will have unusual dreams and wake up in a cold sweat, which she will brush off with a cheerful smile and a self-deprecating joke; and it is sometimes the case that Minako will stay up all night, fiddling with her MP3 player, replaying the same songs and staring at the wall, to deny the entire event ever occurred with another cheerful smile and self-deprecating joke. Aigis does not yet have a program to hold interest in why Minako continually suffers sleepless nights and denies the phenomenon, but she has thoroughly incorporated two aspects of the situation into her operations: firstly, that Takeba, Iori, Kirijo, and Sanada would be more suspicious if she denied the incidents outright, and that Minako never does, only admits the incident and then moves the conversation right along, which all of them seem to take without much questioning; secondly, that Aigis is forbidden from bringing up the matter.
"But I am only concerned for your wellbeing," says Aigis, in the middle of Minako shoving a piece of toast into the toaster for breakfast.
"Ahh, one or two sleepless nights here and there won't do anything," says Minako, waving a hand and cracking open the fridge for the iced coffee and butter. "I promise I'm quite used to it. It happens now and then, for all sorts of reasons! Especially around finals weeks—pulling all-nighters is more common than you'd think."
"The commonality of an 'all-nighter' does not make it more healthy for you."
"No, no—I'm saying it's nothing to be worried about," says Minako soothingly, and then nearly tips over her own coffee mug.
"I do not experience worry," says Aigis, which is perhaps less than technically true considering the way Minako then proceeds to nearly drop the butter, fumble a save, and then drop the butter knife in the process. Coordination must be low. Humans really do need their sleep. "My concern is your performance in Tartarus."
"Oh! Well, that's a relief," says Minako, and laughs. "Then do me a favor? Just don't tell anyone else about it, okay? They won't understand."
"Understand?"
"That it's nothing. My performance in Tartarus won't fall, I promise. You can count on me," she says, and beams with a little salute.
"Why is that a relief?" Aigis asks.
Minako smiles. The toaster dings and the toast pops to the surface. "I just don't want to make anyone worry," says Minako, and then finally, finally knocks over the entire jug of iced coffee with her elbow, which Aigis promptly snatches out of midair.
"Understood," says Aigis, and Minako beams, like Aigis is the only person in the world.
*
Therefore, because Aigis has agreed not to worry, she does not go to Minako's room the next time she wakes up from a bad nightmare out of worry. She goes to inform her that she is going to get Takeba, who will be equipped to worry in Aigis's stead.
"Don't!" says Minako sharply. She says it like a field leader order, like it's a matter of life or death, and there's an immediate threat in the vicinity. Aigis's sensors do not detect a threat in the immediate vicinity. Minako is acting irrationally as a result of emotion, but as per usual, with enough force and conviction that she can make even a robot like Aigis wonder if her sensors are mistaken.
"It will be best if someone is able to offer you emotional support—"
"No," says Minako. Her red eyes are signal flares in the dark.
"Your safety can and does override your wishes."
"I'm fine. I am fine. You said you wouldn't worry about me."
"I am not worrying about you. I am electing to get Takeba so she can worry about you."
"No, no, I—I'll be fine. I am fine! I don't need Yukari to worry about me. She has enough on her plate with her father and Mitsuru and..." Minako scrapes hair away from her face, and grimaces at the sweat that comes off. "...Aigis, just... stay with me."
"I am an anti-Shadow weapon. I am not able to offer you emotional support at this time."
"No, um... think of it like a safety thing. You have to keep me safe, right?"
"I must ensure your wellbeing, health, and safety. There is no immediate threat in the viciinity. Your wellness would be improved should someone offer you empathy."
"And I said I don't need someone to worry about me. You said you wouldn't worry about me." Minako wipes her hand clean on her shirt, then sticks it out, like an order. "I know what I'm doing, Aigis. Just stay, okay?"
"I am not able to offer you emotional support at this time."
"It's fine. Come on."
After a long moment, Aigis shoves the sentence into the command box, and takes Minako's hand. "I am not able to offer you emotional support at this time," Aigis repeats.
"Okay. Um—I don't know if you're okay with this, or—or if you can feel uncomfortable, or if you can refuse, but... can you just... stay with me for tonight?"
"I regularly stay in this room to watch you sleep," says Aigis.
Minako giggles, but it sounds... odd. Not bubbly and bright like her usual giggles. Sounds wet. Resigned. "Then maybe I'll feel safer knowing you're here," she says, and folds her fingers between Aigis'.
Minako lies back down on the pillow, her hair arrayed out around her shoulders, the open V-neck of her pajamas framing smooth moonlight skin just below Aigis' face. "You can lie down with me," says Minako, which is probably not a command but Aigis shoves into the command box again, so that they're lying face to face. Under the covers, Minako's fingers lace between Aigis', her nails scraping the soft back of Aigis's cloth synthetic skin. Aigis cannot feel Minako's hand under the hollow end-points of her gun-barrel fingers.
"Is this... enough?" Aigis asks.
"It's perfect as long as I get to hold your hand," says Minako. She looks, even sound, more content. Which is odd, because Aigis is a robot, who is neither worried about Minako nor able to offer empathy and emotional support.
"Should I be worried?" Aigis asks.
"You promised you wouldn't be. Don't."
"Understood," says Aigis. Minako closes her eyes, and breathes deep into her pillow. Her whole body sags into the mattress, a construction of flesh and blood, next to Aigis's mannequin form full of bolts and bullets. The mattress is cold on Aigis' end.
"I am not able to offer you emotional support at this time," Aigis whispers.
"Shhh," says Minako quietly, without opening her eyes. "Go to sleep."
Not a command, Aigis determines. Aigis' duties for Minako's welfare take priority. When the sun rises, Aigis is still there, watching the steady rise of Minako's chest, the tension in her eyes, measuring how, even as Minako enteres the deepest REM sleep, Minako's nails on Aigis's hand could rip a real human's skin clear through.

A theory that I am a fan of is that after Persona 2, Philemon split himself into the Velvet Siblings, whether it be because he was guilty about the bet or thought he could better understand humans is anyone's guess. Seeing as how him and Nyarlathotep are symbiotic, this would also mean he split as well. This would explain why Kagatsuchi from persona 4 arena was so similar to Nyarly. Maybe the gods who are similar to him are his fragments/avatars . What do you think?
To me the Velvet room siblings are supposed to represent animus/anima.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the P3P opening you can see animus/anima in the intro right before Elizabeth and Theo appear.
It would also make sense that P3 male MC, Yuu, Ren/Akira all get female spiritual figures from the unconscious and FEMC gets Theo.
And of course the Velvet room siblings all shares ties to Frankenstein due to their names.
Philemon is semi-watching the protagonists from P3 onwards in his butterfly form. To me he retreated since Nyarly was banished during the EP ending and since they are two sides of the same coin as long as Nyarly is not active again Philemon holds back as well.
We will see how this will change now that more Lovecraft references returned with P5R.
As for Kagutsuchi:
I always thought that it was strange that he copied Nyarly‘s way of talking. Kagutsuchi barely has characteristics in his mythological version. Izanami died while giving birth to him and Izanagi killed him for it but nothing is said about his character.
In Nocturne Kagutsuchi makes more sense as the avatar of the Great Will since the birth of Kagutsuchi ushered the contrast between life and death into the world.
I just think they wanted a figure from Japanese mythology as a villain in arena since the Persona series at this point was very P4 focused.
Nyarlathotep does have countless avatars in Lovecraft sources but I am pretty sure that they did not have an intention of tying the Kagutsuchi depiction in arena to him. P5R showed if they wanted to start adding Lovecraft stuff again they will return to adding it especially since turning mythological figures into Nyarly expies did not work on a longlasting basis.
I really hope that one day Nyarly is able to make an actual comeback (this would pretty much automatically make Philemon return as well).

11. Waiting P.1
“Philemon seems to enjoy seeing his Wild Cards live on with their lives…”

Persona 4 Golden X FeMC!Reader
4/25/MON-Evening | Dojima Residence
"Do you even know what you're doing?"
You pay no heed to the incorporeal being as you scored the meat with the knife. The residence doesn't have a lot of cook books, probably because of Dojima's absence and Nanako's proficiency based on eggs, so you decided to wing this recipe and hope for the best.
It wouldn't be as bad if it wasn't for the being criticizing the ingredients and your methods.
"This meat isn't full. I've seen pork plumper than this."
"What is this sauce? Why does it taste so sweet?"
"What is this metal contraption that produces fire?"
The grip on your knife only worsened and you were thankful that your hands were free of marinade. The sounds of the TV droned on, reminding you that Nanako is there, sitting attentively and listening to her surroundings.
With a sigh through your nose, you placed the lunch inside the box in an ordered fashion. The ginger pork on the steamed rice was placed in a way the sauce wouldn't be marred as diced spring onions were sprinkled nicely on the pork. In two cup dividers were cherry tomatoes and leftover potato salad. It wasn't like the tonkatsu that you made before but you feel like you've perfected this recipe.
"Success...!" You congratulated yourself. The dish turned out perfectly!
Izanami hummed beside you, looking over at the lunch. "It looks... Adequate."
You let out a tired groan, something that was noticed by Nanako as she began to question what was wrong.
4/26/TUE-Lunchtime | Classroom
Once the teacher dismissed the class for lunch, you sighed as you patted yourself on the back once more for answering for your friends. It was definitely more painful to have Jiraiya and Tomoe argue over the class's heads as Izanami tried to diffuse the situation. It would've been comical if it wasn't for the fact that you had to focus on the lesson and maintain your grades.
You took out your lunch from your bag and looked around. Yosuke was chatting with one of his friends, Chie was busy trying to discreetly teach Tomoe the basic ethics of today. Maybe you should invite one of them for lunch.
A small shriek broke your trail of thought. You turned your head to see Chie cupping her face in her hands as Tomoe tilted her head to the side. From behind you, Jiraiya laughed at the girl's embarrassment as Yosuke groaned at all three of them.
You remember Kou and Akane from music club and you wondered if they were available.
4/28/THU-After School | Chinese Diner Aiya
You remember going to this restaurant with Daisuke yesterday to talk about Kou and ever since, you’ve wanted to try the Rainy Day Mega Beef Bowl Challenge.
The diner was bustling as usual, the exception were the sounds of defeat of people who fell victim to the 3,000 Yen toll and with the few who triumphed over the well-seasoned meat and pounds of rice. Beside you, sitting on a stool, was Izanami, who watched the old man behind the counter yell orders above the noise.
“Chinese...” Izanami started. “I’ve forgotten the taste of baos that my husband would get me.”
You raised your eyebrow. “You have a husband?”
She nodded, though it seemed like she was unsure. “I... think so. I remember somebody whom I was close to...”
You racked your brain on your Shinto beliefs. With the spare time you had, you picked up the myths about the gods since it seemed important to know who was your partner. Before you could say something, a waiter slammed a giant bowl in front of you.
The legendary beef bowl definitely lived up to its name. The mounds of beef seemed to be endless, the mouth-watering seasoned meat suddenly made you sick. And then you remembered that there was rice underneath the protein hell pile.
You and Izanami blinked owlishly at the beef bowl, the noises in and out of the diner droned to a silent static as you seem to cower at the sight of the king of beef bowls.
This feat will be remembered through eternity.
“Izanami,” you whispered to her as you picked up your chopsticks, “make sure this lives on in the history books.”
You didn’t need to look at her to see her nod solemnly. “You will be remembered as a hero.”
You could feel the dread that the beef bowl gives but it doesn’t stop you from separating your sticks and thank the Aiya for this challenge.
> ...
“The beef bowl...” Izanami gasped. “It feels as though it’s taunting you!”
Her words fell deaf as your stomach bulged from the meat. That’s right. Just meat. You couldn’t even make it to the rice as the mountain of meat defeated your over-confidence. Still, despite the grueling defeat, you seemed to have a deeper understanding on how the beef bowl seems to be, the strategy to win the challenge has been embedded in your knowledge, and your diligence paid off to skim off most of the meat.
“Aiyaaa!” The owner drawled out. “Looks like you failed the challenge! Too bad. That’ll be 3,000 Yen.”
You scowled at the man then the beef bowl. At least the materials you sold to Daidara covered your expenses.
4/29/FRI-Evening | Dojima Residence
“Due to the weekend rainfall, clear skies seem unlikely in the area.”
The reporter continued with the weather as you watched it intently. Izanami sat beside you, Nanako opposite of you in front of the table as Dojima relaxed on the couch. A steaming mug of hot chocolate was in your hands, as you refused to eat anything since you were still full from the beef bowl. You were proud to say that you’ve reached a bit of rice as you felt your stats increase.
“A thick fog is expected tonight and remain until tomorrow morning, with heaviest concentration in the Inaba area. Anyone planning to go out tonight should take care. Now for our hourly weather breakdown...”
“More fog, huh...?” Dojima sighed. “There’s been a lot of that lately. Hopefully it’s not a sign of more trouble.”
You didn’t even need to turn around to see his eyes droop in exhaustion. You focused back on the TV only to notice Nanako holding the remote in her hands and switching the channel.
“Ah-ah-ah.” Dojima tutted. “What did I say about changing the channel without asking?”
Before she could even respond, the TV droned about Junes and it being open for Golden Week. Immediately, Nanako perked up at the commercial, singing the theme song as she seemed excited about the establishment.
Izanami chuckled at her enthusiasm. “She’s so precious.”
“Dad!” Nanako exclaimed. “They’re going to be open during Golden Week!”
He laughed a little. “I heard. Do you want to go somewhere during the long holiday?”
Nanako’s eyes widened as she stood up “We can go somewhere?!”
He smiled at his daughter’s enthusiasm, then turned his head to you. “How about it? Got any plans yet?”
You took a cursory glance at Izanami as she nodded her head eagerly. You nodded at the man. “No plans yet.”
“Then let’s all go together somewhere!” Nanako cheered. “Junes! Junes Junes Junes!”
You giggled at her. You haven’t seen her this happy at all lately.
However, Dojima sighed. “You’re sure you want to go Junes? We can go there anytime...”
“Let her have her fun.” You said. “Not like we can spend all Golden Week in the store.”
“Alright alright...” He relented. “Anyway, time for bed. It’s late.”
Nanako’s smile was wiped off her face when she heard that, but she immediately sprung back to life by singing the Junes theme song.
After Nanako went to bed as you bade Dojima a good night, you changed into your pajamas and went up to your room. You pulled back the curtain and looked out the window. The fog rolled in, making you barely see anything.
“The fog settled in fast.” Izanami remarked. “I know we saved Yukiko but I wonder about what will show tonight.”
You drew back the curtain, staring at the TV with a nervous expression. “Probably nothing, but we can’t be too sure.”
You sat back down on the sofa next to Izanami, heaving out a sigh at the events that happened in the castle. “Yukiko is coming back to school tomorrow so we can ask her about how she even got in there.”
Izanami watched your relaxed expression, turning her head to the TV, then turning her head back to you. “What do you think of what her Persona will be?”
You shrugged lazily. “I don’t know, but I do know that we have to show her the ropes when we have free time.”
“You don’t have to stress yourself over this.” She said softly. “There’s always time for that, you’re still young after all. There’s no shame in backing down.”
You stared at Izanami’s yellow eyes, wondering where that caring attitude came from. You... really don’t know how to respond to that.
Before you could even reply something, the TV turned on by itself. The static noises permeated the room but the screen showed nothing. Then, the TV went silent.
“Well, guess that’s that.” You said, standing up from your sitting position. You, frankly, didn’t want to talk more about the awkward self-care so you dragged yourself to your already made futon and lied down. “Night, Izanami.”
Your Persona didn’t even try to bring back the previous conversation, which you were thankful for. She sighed before settling herself on the sofa. “Night, _____.”
Persona Time
| Amagi Inn |
In the personal room of Yukiko inside the Amagi Inn, the 2nd-year girl stirred in her futon before opening her eyes to the sunlight. She let out a tired groan, feeling like her body went on a triathlon but her mind went through the bar exam. All that training didn’t seem to prepare her for the soreness in her muscles and she didn’t even do anything in the television except watch as her friends get burned.
“I should apologize for causing so much trouble...” She murmured to herself, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes.
“O-Oh!” A meek voice gasped in surprise. “Y-You’re awake! Thank g-goodness!”
The voice immediately made Yukiko’s eyes snap open as she sat up and whipped her head to the source of the voice. When her eyes landed on a whole mess of pink, she stiffened.

“Oh dear...” The Persona muttered as she watched her master faint and fall asleep again on her futon.

Character #2: Junpei Iori
“Ta da da da! I’m da man!”
Tumblr media
First Appearance: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 (July 13th, 2006) Bio: The brash and bold member of SEES, Junpei never tends to treat their Shadow-hunting activities seriously, instead focusing on the awesome powers that come with the job. Though he has all the questionable qualities of a teenager, namely his tendency to slack off and flirt with girls, he’s nevertheless a valuable part of the team. --- There are very few series that know how to create good characters like Persona. People can easily connect to these characters because of how closely rooted in reality each of them are, and how they have their own faults and weaknesses just like any other human being. What they carry deep inside themselves or what they’ve been through sometimes ends up resonating very strongly with certain individuals, to the point where they can see some of themselves in them. And the absolute best kinds of characters Persona can produce are the ones that learn from their own faults, recognize and come to terms with what they’ve been through, and ultimately change and grow to better themselves and remain close to the people around them. There are very, very few characters in a video game that I can think of that change and grow as much as Junpei. When you first meet Junpei, he’s like every other teenager at his age; cocky, overconfident, flirts with the ladies, slacks off 24/7, and always tries to make himself the man of the hour. The only difference is that he has the power of Persona, which he almost immediately loves since it makes him some kinda badass superhero. By the time you join up with SEES and start carrying out operations with them, he’s still in the phase where he wants to show off and be all like “WHO’S DA MAN” when he totally owns a Shadow, which is completely understandable for a guy like him. But once you start to show up and be the guy (or girl) in charge, Junpei’s insecurities start to surface and he internally resents having to take orders from a newbie (or a girl), leading him to make some reckless calls and carry a petty grudge early on in the game. Now I wouldn’t blame you if you think that all just makes Junpei sound like nothing but a shitlord, but it’s when Junpei starts to loosen up a bit and apologize for his actions that he really starts to grow. Again, it’s incredibly plausible for a teenager like him to behave the way he does, but it’s really great how Junpei is able to recognize his shitty behavior and learn from it. That’s what puts him way above Yosuke or even Ryuji for me; his willingness to correct himself to make himself less of a dirtbag is great, and shows a level of maturity from him before the endgame is even within reach. And by the end of the game, he’s got your back 100% of the way and proves himself to be a true bro to you and to everyone else around him. It’s a change that’s entirely believable because of how true to life it is, and it makes Junpei such a well-realized and fleshed out character that actually matures and grows and has an ARC of all things that I really wish other Persona characters of his archetype could learn from. Major Persona 3 Spoilers And of course, another big part of his character arc comes from his relationship with Chidori. It’s a very strange start to their relationship at first; Junpei tries to subtly pass himself off as the leader of SEES to impress her, while Chidori doesn’t give a rat’s ass about him and later tries to hold him for ransom. But over the course of their time together... they earnestly start respecting and caring for each other, and Junpei in particularly tries his hardest to be there for her no matter how hard Chidori tries to push him away. It’s not until Junpei gets shot and Chidori gives up her life so that he can live, and that moment is just... one of the most heart-wrenching and beautiful moments in the whole game. Seeing Chidori sacrifice herself for him gives Junpei the resolve to be a better man to everyone around him, and whether or not she ends up surviving (depending on the version you play), the lessons Junpei learns stick with him and makes him a much better person as a result. END SPOILERS
But then when I read through Junpei’s S.Link for the FeMC in P3P... that thing damn near shook me to my core. Not only does it show how much Junpei legitimately cares for your well-being (to the point where he beats the shit out of some creepy stalker for your sake), but... it was like looking at myself. Looking at a person who’s barely lived their life at all, trying to just live in the moment without a care in the world and not doing anything to better themselves. Realizing that if someone like him could get his act together, improve his grades, and try to be a better person to the people closest to him... that maybe I could be someone like that, too. There’s still so much for me to do to get to a place where I can make the best use of my time, but seeing a guy like Junpei go through the same things I am and finding his answers inspires hope within me. I really didn’t think I would love Junpei to this extent before I began this project, but it’s hard to imagine him in any other spot on this list but here. He’s fun when he needs to be, realistic when he’s not feeling the fun, and he grows and changes in such a natural and beautiful way. He goes from being a complete show-off who doesn’t take much seriously, to one of the most dependable members of the team. Even in The Answer when like half the cast acts like their development never happened, Junpei sticks to what he’s learned the whole time and never once deviates from what he learned about life from Chidori. I doubt there are many people who feel the same as me, but I would not hesitate to call him one of the most realized and well-defined characters in the Persona series. Also, him being a little league coach in Ultimax is cute and a natural fit for him. Teaser for Character #1: *gasp* The enemy!

Tumblr media
[ i’ve seen several complaints about the fact that atlus decided to give shinjiro a route in which he doesn’t die in portable’s femc version if you max his social link. all this talk about how it ruins the game’s theme of death and its inevitability, the myth between castor and pollux, how it’s a cheap cop out etc etc etc and while for most of these i can definitely see where people are coming from, i’d like to talk about why i personally love it a lot, aside from just the fact that, well... my favorite character lives.
...under a cut because i ramble so damn much, as always.
so let’s look at the first argument. death is definitely a huge theme in p // 3, you could even say the main theme, especially after the plot twist with ryoji. and while this is true, it’s good to not reduce the whole game to just that one theme. because aside from this, the persona series as a whole is also very heavily focused on the power of bonds. protagonist having just enough strength to stay alive until meeting everyone at the rooftop, thanks to the promise these friends made? bonds. the forces holding the protagonist together in their battle with nyx? power of bonds. “the power of friendship surges into you” or whatever. it’s cheesy, sure, but what persona game isn’t at some point? c’mon.
it’s been confirmed that shinjiro’s survival, though made possible thanks to the pocket watch, was actually mainly based on the bond you form with him as femc. it’s not a coincidence you have to max his social link for him to stay alive - you have to form that “unbreakable bond” for it to happen. in the p3.p fanbook i bought a while back there is a section in which theo and elizabeth talk about this particular difference in the femc route, stating that this bond was what had the power to “raise him from the abyss” (i know, i know it’s really funny and over the top but bear with me here) which clearly implies this bond being the key element of why he kept holding on during that seemingly-impossible-to-recover-from coma. i mean, even the stuff he says during his social link about her “messing things up for (him)” when “(he) thought his life was the way it was supposed to be” kind of tries to hint that this bond is slightly faltering his preparedness to die and thus, when given a chance to hold onto life (coma) he does. now, this brings on the question why in the hell would this particular bond then be so damn significant but that’s a meta post for another day. and while it obviously kind of is ship fodder, i personally believe it can make a lot of sense regardless. i think there are good reasons someone like the femc (romantic or not) could have caused a reaction this strong. but that’s beside the point of this particular post.
--- either way. bonds. bonds being strong enough to have the ability to defeat death. hate it all you want, but you can’t say that the persona series hasn’t used this explanation before. and tbh i myself do enjoy it. give me that tasty cheese.
secondly i want to dissect the “cheap cop out” argument. and to be honest, i ain’t even denying this one. but at the same time, putting shinjiro in a coma is pretty much the only way you could keep him alive in the plot without changing it so significantly that it would collapse on itself. there’s really no other logical way to dish out similar impact as his death provokes in akihiko and ken, to keep him out of the story for the rest of the game ... without killing him.
now, why am i so against killing him then, besides the fact that he is my favorite character? because! shinjiro’s death route reduces shinjiro to nothing but a plot device! i am not even kidding, he’s literally the textbook definition of a plot device in canon. “ah, let’s just put this character here for the sake of killing him off so he can provide these other characters with some character development! now that that’s over, let’s mention him a couple of times afterwards but other than that act like he pretty much never existed in the first place!” even as early after p.3 as FES’ the answer he is barely mentioned anymore and he doesn’t even appear in the end credits with everyone else and now metis is here to “replace” him as the axe-wielding hierophant. do you see why i would have a problem with this?
shinjiro as a character, in my opinion, has too much potential to let go to waste like this. have you ever considered that ken’s change of heart after the october 4 incident literally would solve shinjiro’s biggest, deepest problem did he get the chance to be aware of it? sure, the accident with ken’s mother is trauma he will never 100% recover from, but i personally believe reconciling with ken could stop the poor boy from obsessing over it, with some time. even enough to give him a new resolution and with that a new persona, as it would provide him with the change needed in order to gain one. a new chapter in his life, in a way. and i’ve also talked about how i think shinjiro wouldn’t be on suppressants nor need them anymore after his recovery (more about that here & here)
so, would this not be the biggest character development you could possibly give shinjiro? and you have all the ingredients for it, put right there ready, set, go -- yet you still think his death route is better? well, to each their own, but i would personally be much more interested to see shinjiro’s character in its fully developed form. he deserves it. and thinking about how having shinjiro there even after all of the events would affect akihiko and ken etc differently is also interesting as hell, imo. i mean, their initial resolutions still remained the same despite the differences in the femc version and the original... so, how would having him back change things? and i mean, ken and shinjiro reconciling..... i think this could give ken some additional character development as well. closure.
lastly, i’ll briefly look at the castor and pollux (polydeuces) thing. so, twin brothers - castor gets killed, so obviously shinjiro needs to die too, right? no more castor, so polydeuces also disappears as akihiko gains caesar. but what if instead of thinking about death in this case literally and directly linking shinjiro to castor and castor’s plot we thought about it symbolically? i talked about how i could see ken’s forgiveness being that one thing, if anything, that would cause a new resolution and a new persona in shinjiro. gaining this new persona would be as if turning a new chapter in his life. symbolical death of castor, no longer chaining him to his past. and thus, the twin brothers both move on together - like in the myth they were cast onto the sky as the gemini constellation. castor’s literal death in the myth was by a spear anyway, like shinjiro’s was supposed to be by ken’s spear, but wasn’t. this already made stuff a lot more symbolic than literal. so i dunno... i just personally feel it all doesn’t have to be so literal. it’s not like akihiko and shinjiro literally did all the things pollux and castor did in their mythology, despite sharing some obvious similarities with the mythological twins and there being a good reason the two of their personas took this form.
...more than anything if i had to give just one reason why i need shinjiro to not die is the plot device thing. he’s too good of a character to let his story end there, at least with how little development for his own sake atlus gave him, giving everyone else a ton of it! it’s just not fair. he was here just to serve a role. and god dammit if he doesn’t deserve more. he has so much potential and he’s a pretty complex character despite the little screen time he was given. this is just how i feel and i feel it quite strongly. shinjiro survival route ftw. ]

Where's the LLxPersona we deserve? (but absolutely don't need right now)
l i s t en
im still salty why FeMC is not canon i need herrrr
this is all according to my opinion (there will be a lot of inaccuracies please forgive me)
Honoka: THEFOOL“The Fool Arcana does not mean it that can be taken lightly. The Fool isnumber zero. It is the void from which all other things begin.“
Because thenumber zero/ having no number holds infinite possibilities. It has nothing andtherefore, has the potential to be anything. However, the Fool speaks of thepossibility of nothing. Where there is nothing, there is the potential forgrowth in any direction.
Honoka wasthe start of it all and the general characteristics of the fool is totally likeher. Of course, being the fool means she needs friends to continue on herjourney. which led to her meeting everyone and pushed her towards her goal. Notletting the school close.
Umi: THEJUSTICE“To find the one true path, one must seek guidance amidst uncertainty…”
This card ismaking decisions based on facts and the truth as opposed to making decisionsbased on emotions. It’s also about bringing things back into balance. Withthat, the card’s appearance also suggests that a fair amount of cool-headednessand a sense of realism is required.
Honestly, this is the only card im confident to assign to her because Umi is the mostlevel-headed person and no matter what, the right thing must always followthrough. Training regimen, not tolerating honoka’s lazy behaviour, or rin’s, ormaybe even nico’s lmao but of course reversed meaning biased ahem umi-chan onegai
Kotori: THELOVERS“ There is both joy and wonder in coming to understand another…”
Sure TheLovers represents the obvious (love, passion, bonds, etc.), but it alsorepresents choices or duality. The Lovers are plural and they need bothindividuals in order to be so. As for the choices part, it can represent amajor fork in the road coming up. Major choices are going to need to be made.Just like a relationship, sometimes you’ll have to chose one thing over anotherin order to make things work out.
which leadsus to that last part in season 1 where she was indecisive whether she would goabroad or not. because going abroad means she’ll have to stop becoming an idoland leaving her two bestfriends and that would be a huge change in herlifestyle
Rin: THE MAGICIAN”Attaining one’s dream requires a stern will and unfailingdetermination.”
The cardrepresents wanting to achieve something and having the self-power to achieveit. It can also represent taking the first step towards one’s plans (orpersonal growth), but is generally more about the fact that one has all of theresources to do something at hand and they just need to push forward.
based on theevents of season 1 where rin gives that little push to pana to join the idolclub and even to maki. The magician guides the fool through the first step asit represents the potential of a new adventure. however, when dealing withissues of their own, they need that simple push to continue on and as seen ins2 where rin refused to wear the dress and tried many ways to avoid it. butpana and the others ultimately gave her the confidence she needed to try it outand let me tell you she was really adorable there i swoon
Maki: THEHERMIT”It requires great courage to look at oneself honestly, and forge one’s ownpath…
Portrayed asan old man in a dark place or cave, holding up a lantern, the Hermit isassociated with wisdom, introspection, solitude, retreat and philosophicalsearches. Similarly, Hermit Arcana characters share the commonality of placingthemselves in situations that hide them from the public eye. Hermit individualshide away from others or act in more supportive roles rather than putting themselvesin the spotlight.
all truecorresponding to maki’s personality. not wanting to join the idolclub in the first place, she supported honoka by giving her the cd for theirfirst performance. she likes to hide in the music room and isolate herself fromeveryone else. not feeling judged. she’s in a safe haven. this is the negativeside of it. the isolation. there are two lessons to learn from it; the need towithdraw from society to be comfortable with oneself and the need to come outof isolation to share knowledge with others
Hanayo: THE STRENGTH“ Only with strength can one endure suffering and torment.“
Strengthhere refers to knowing about your inner desires and keeping them in check.Suppressing desire altogether isn’t the correct answer either though. In thiscase, it’s about understanding yourself and using that to push forward. Thiscard can also symbolize inner female empowerment. Instead of suppressing yourown desires and just being passive about attaining things, go all out. You’llnever get what you want if you don’t chase after it with all your might.
Because of pana’stimid personality. She often doubts herself whether or not she can become agreat idol and gets lost in all of her insecurities. Her pessimism is also aplus. But we see how much she has grown. Using her desire in becoming an idol, she used it as her strength. Her inspiration. And therefore, overcame thehurdles of intimidation and insecurities because pana is awesome and we alllove our rice goddess
Nico: THE STAR”It’s a strong card, one that gives hope to those on the ground below. It shines in times of need. But, eventually, it is destined to fall to the earth and disappear… Even Ican feel the sadness of this inescapable destiny…“
It’s one of those feel good cards thatpeople like getting because it means that there are better things to comesometime in the future. Think of those stereotypical movies with a scene wherethe protagonist feeling depressed, but for whatever reason, looking at somestar in the sky somehow sparks an epiphany and suddenly everything is okay again. Just because it appears though doesn’tmean immediate changes. You could still be stuck in a slump for some timebefore the whole hope thing kicks in. The important thing though is thatsomething better is out there for you, and you just need to look for it.
Terrible situations lmao of course nicowith her financial difficulties, her failure in her first year with her idolclub, not being able to reach her dream of becoming the number one idol and thedeath of her dad. All of those were setbacks but it didn’t stop her. Being thenumber one idol in the universe is a huge deal and thinking of how she wouldget there hurts my heartstrings a lot because she’ll go through hell and backto make it come true. It’s the hope the nico always carried. It may be wishfulthinking to others with such an outrageous dream but she will never give up onit. the Star symbolizes to have trust and confidence in the future. Also theneed to cry. donttouchmeimcrying
Eli: THE EMPEROR”Only courage in the face of doubt canlead one to the answer…”
The Emperorsymbolizes the desire to control one’s surroundings, and its appearance couldsuggest that one is trying too hard to achieve this, possibly causing troublefor others; some elements in life are just not controllable. This card is aboutassertiveness and maintaining your own power over a situation. Just like a realemperor, it’s about standing above people and maintaining that order that makesthings run.
S1 eli was really like this and tried notto entertain honoka’s idea. Being the student council and all, she needed totake control of things before they got out of hand which resulted to manythings. She also didn’t want for the school to close but she thought that theiridea wasn’t going to help. And eli being eli she shouldered the responsibilityall for herself. Nonetheless, she learned to understand. It’s okay to get help. There’s nothing wrong with that. And from there she regained her stability. Hersense of control.
Nozomi: THE EMPRESS“Celebrate life’s grandeur…itsbrilliance…its magnificence…”
The Empress card is kind of like TheMagician in that it’s all about creation. However, where The Magician was aboutcontrol and pushing forward, The Empress is more about letting things grownaturally and at their own pace.  The card also stand for and naturalgrowth. In tarot readings, the Empress represents mothers, prosperity, creativity, sexuality, abundance, fertility, protection, and comfort (mostoften in helping maintain peace around them like an ideal mother would.)
It was nozomi who pieced all the characterstogether. She was always lurking somewhere, ready to guide. She’s the goddess asshe is the one who named the group and stringed all the relationships together. As seen in s1, she already knew they needed nine people to form the group. She justlet things go at their own pace, slowly but surely. Let’s not forget she saidthat if μ’s were a family, she’d be the mother. Althroughouts1 and s2, we see her motherly instincts come and go and it led me to believewowowow boy do I love nozomi the queen
Also id like to point out thatshe can also be the high priestess and the hierophant. The priestess is a symbol of hidden knowledge or other untappedpower, wisdom, female mystery and magic when it appears in tarot readings.TheHierophant is kind of like The High Priestess in that it represents knowledge. On the other hand though, The Hierophant is about bringing wisdom to othersinstead of secretive knowledge. This card is about taking what one alreadyknows and applying it to real life or sharing it with others. Kind of like ateacher. It can also indicate a solution to a problem. On the reversed side, this card means being unwilling to listen to what others are trying to teach. It can also stand for being stuck somewhere because you refuse to listen tosomeone else’s wisdom
not all of these are mine!

P5R: Rebel Girl (A FeMC Story/P5R Rework) Chapter 215: What Is, and What Will Be
(WARNING: This chapter contains death and attempted murder.)
Late into the night, Ohya was steeling herself. She was looking at Kayo’s hairpin/camera. She had it for a bit, but was too scared to look at the contents. “C’mon Ichiko! You can do this! For Kyo! And for Ren!” She took a deep breath, and plugged it in.
The footage began to play. It was Kayo interviewing the politician. “This will be kept anonymous?’ the politician said.
“Of course,” Kayo replied.
“Thank goodness,” the politician said, relieved. “That Shido fellow is a bit vindictive.”
“How do you figure?” Kayo asked.
“Frankly, I don’t know the extent of his temper,” the politician said. “And I don’t plan to know. But I know he gets a little temperamental whenever legislation he puts forward doesn’t come to pass. He leaves the chamber immediately in a huff.”
There was a knock at the door. “Room service.” The politician stood up and answered the door. The man delivering the room service was a burly man with glasses and hair combed to the side, wearing a hotel uniform. He was holding a bottle on a tray alongside two cups.
“Ah, thank you,” the politician said.
“My pleasure,” the delivery man said.
The politician closed the door, and proceeded to sit back down. He opened the bottle, and poured himself a drink. “Do you want one?”
“Oh, no thank you,” Kayo said.
“Suit yourself,” the politician said. He took a drink. “Anyway, where was I?”
“Mr. Shido, and his temperament,” Kay reminded him.
“Ah yes,” the politician continued. “One night after such an event, I witnessed him drunk and traveling with some escorts. When I talked to him about it the next day, he told me that it wasn’t him. But I was sure it was.”
“I see,” Kayo said.
The politician took another drink. “Still, I can’t say he’s a bad politician entirely. I like some of his ideas. But recently, he’s planning on breaking away and forming his own party to become Prime Minister during the next election cycle. He offered me a position in his cabinet, on account of some of the criticisms I have with the current cabinet. However, I turned him down citing my concerns I mentioned earlier.
I told him that a Prime Minister who goes and gets drunk and hires unsavory women when he doesn’t get his way isn’t a good Prime Minister. He glared at me, and was very adamant that that wasn’t him. He then told me that when he’s Prime Minister, he’ll always get his way.”
“How harrowing,” Kayo remarked.
The politician began to sweat. “Tell me about it. Being a politician is about give and take..you know…”
“Um…Are you alright?” Kayo asked.
“I…I…” the politician said. Suddenly, he started bleeding from his eyes and choking.
“SIR!” Kayo yelped, as she stood up. However, there was nothing she could do. She watched as the politician continued to suffer until finally giving out and dying in front of her. She looked at the door. “I’ve got to get out of here.”
She made a dash for the door, opening it, and crossing into the hall. She turned left, only to see the room service delivery person there. He noticed her too. “Shit!” he exclaimed. He started to give chase. Kayo turned and ran the other way.
She managed to out maneuver him, and make her way out of the hotel. She saw a police officer. She ran toward him. “Help! Police help!”
The officer turned to look at her. “Woah woah, what’s going on?” the officer asked.
“There’s a man!” Kayo said, short on breath. “He’s chasing me. I think he killed someone.”
“Alright alright, calm down,” the officer said. “What did the man look like?”
Kayo looked back to see the man who was chasing her. “Him!” Kayo pointed.
The officer looked over. “You don’t say. The officer swiftly grabbed Kayo’s arm, and twisted it behind her back. “Hey!” he called out.” The man chasing her turned over towards them. “Over here!”
The man started approaching. Kayo was confused and scared. “Heh heh,” the officer chuckled. “We can’t let that information about Shido get out now, can we?” Kayo was even more scared.
The man met up with them. “Finally.” The man had a stern look on his face, but Ohya sensed something off about it as she was watching the horror that was before her. “I take it you didn’t drink. I even gave you two cups.” Kayo was silently panicking.
“What should we do?” the officer said. “Strangle her? Shot her in the face?”
The man glared behind Kayo at the officer. “That would cause too much of a commotion. I still have a little bit of the formula with me. Let’s just give it to her, and be done with it.” He took out a small vile and started pressing it toward Kayo’s mouth. “Bottom’s up.”
Kayo resisted as much as she could. But the officer said “Don’t worry. I gotcha!” He held Kayo’s nose, and soon her mouth was open. The vile was poured down her throat.
The officer let go, and Kayo spit as much out as she could, but it was already in her system. The man who had just forced the vile down her throat took her purse. She started stumbling off, away from them. She could hear the man who forced the vile down saying “Leave her. She’ll be dead within the hour.” Then footsteps walking in different directions.
Kayo continued her trek. She was struggling, but still managing. As she was walking, Ohya noticed a security camera. “That’s the camera that Hamasaki gave me the footage for.” Ohya continued watching, disturbed by what she had seen, but also relieved in knowing what had happened.
As Kayo was about to pass out, she came across a nurse, who looked like she was on her way home. Ohya recognized her as the nurse she met with when visiting The nurse noticed you. “Are you alright?”
Kayo coughed. “No,” she mustered.
“I’ll call the police,” the nurse said.
“No!” Kayo protested. “They’re…in on it…”
The nurse looked at her. “I see.”
“Just…let me rest…” Kayo passed out, ending the recording.
Ohay looked at the screen. She was pale as a ghost. She could have never fathomed that it would be this dire. She looked down. “Even if I were to make this public, they would just cover it up.” She stared at her reflection in the screen. “It looks like I’ve hit a dead end on what I can do on my own. But I know I can make things right. I know I can save you Kayo. I just need to trust them. But they need to trust me too.”
She unplugged the camera, got up, and went to bed. She had trouble falling asleep that night, but she knew she could take solace in that Kayo was alive, and that she knew what to do next. After all,it’s always darkest just before the dawn.

At this rate Shin will have a DLC for P3D before FeMC/Ryoji
And.....I ain’t gonna be mad at the little dude, I’ll pour one out for him he deserves it, and I mean PTS was a (now alternate universe not connected to the games as stated by Atlus after the release of P4/P3P as stated in the official artbook) sequel to the original/FES ver of P3 so like he wouldn’t be COMPLETELY out of nowhere for P3D (Laz-chan is tho tbh, they better explain where she was in P3/P....actually a remake for P3 she’d be an interesting bonus boss). I’m still gonna wanna light Atlus’ ass on fire for shunning FeMC and Ryoji tho. Just because they’re pushing it ;w; Goro is the Adachi of P5D, Shinji is not he’s just part of the main cast. At least put Ryoji, the Adachi of P3D in there. ;w;
(oh snap this turned into a rant under the cut, well rip 8U)
I’m not even mad Labrys and Sho got announced for DLC, mad they (or at least Sho) got announced FIRST/BEFORE FeMC/Ryoji, but not upset. They are integral to P3′s lore, and tbh Labby showed up in the drama CDs (which is the reason I’m fine with her being announced first before the FeMC, since Labby came out first, but I am mad she was announced before Ryoji cause he was first). And like not just lore, but Sho is also basically his own Strega and....it’s easier to just do one guy instead of 3. 8U Plus apparently he is popular
Like fudging P1 OP and ED (and maybe P2 can’t remember) HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED FOR P3/5D BEFORE THE FEMC OR RYOJI! Like brah I’m happy for P1/2 fans, but c’mooooooon man that’s not P3 related. ;w; Like if there are any fans who will feel and understand the pain of P1/2 fans feeling ignored it’s FeMC fans and PTS fans (I know you exist). The issue is while P1/2 can’t be used cause Tadashi bounced, and PTS can’t be used (but some stuff can be borrowed, similar to what happens to the FeMC all the gd time) cause it’s not “canon to the games, it’s an alt universe canon with it’s own canon” (hey it’s important they stated that cause the MegaTen canon is so fluid and people already get confused and yes the distinction is important to make), the FeMC has NONE of those restrictions.1) Hashino is still there and willing to let them use his characters without him directing. 2) It’s not even Hashino’s character tbh, Azuka Kido wrote her and most of P3P, if anything she’s the creator and she’s still working in the Persona department so like she’s not restricted like Tadashi characters even more 3) Atlus has stated if it happens in the game it’s canon, even if it’s an alt universe, it’s an alt universe within the game’s canon so it’s still canon, which is key to Persona’s lore (SMT If, all of P2, P3P, PQ, fudge every route for Arena/Ultimax too). All this means that there is NOTHING to hold her back like they do for P1/2/TS....but they do anyway! ;w;
I’m sorry this became a rant, but....it just hurts a lot of love this character. They’ll use her stuff, HER OWN STUFF EXCLUSIVE TO HER but they won’t give her the time of day....and there’s literally no reason to NOT give her the time of day. They use her songs for the 20th anniversary concert, but she’s shafted from the Soejima art (even tho there’s like an awkward space with all the MCs which makes me feel like she was meant to be there but was removed for some reason) as well as the merch. Her music is used in P3D but is nowhere to be seen. They took cues from her SL with Ryoji and used it for the P3 movies, THEY TOOK RIO AND SAORI AND PUT THEM IN THE MOVIES! THOSE TWO AREN’T EVEN ON THE MALE SIDE! Not even as NPCs you see in the beginning like with Kenji or Kaz are on the FeMC side! Rio/Saori literally don’t exist on the male side, they aren’t programed! ;w;
I mean....I try to give Atlus the benefit of the doubt, I feel like the shoutouts (such as Akihiko’s pancake mention in PQ, and probably other stuff too), the music at the concerts and P3D, the Rio/Saori cameo and the Ryoji development in the movies....I feel like they’re thinking and trying to throw FeMC fans a bone and I think they think they’re doing a good job. “See we didn’t forget her, look at all the stuff from her route!” but.....it just kinda hurts, it feels more like they’re dangling a key in front of us, a key to a door she’s locked behind rather than throwing us a bone.
I mean I get it, FeMC fans can be loud about wanting to see their fav, but just cause they wanna see her doesn’t mean we automatically hate Minato/Makoto or don’t want him. I know us being loud can be really annoying, but if you’re a P1/2 fan or a Goro fan I’m sure you can understand having your favs be shafted. Like her being excluded from 20th anniversary was a low blow, just her being with the other MCs would’ve held us over, just knowing they still acknowledged her. That’s literally all we want, not a whole game dedicated to her, just to be included in the artwork with other MCs.

P5R: Rebel Girl (A FeMC Story/P5R Rework) Chapter 149: Necessary Third Wheeling
Friday during break, Ren got a message on her phone.
Lena: Hey, do you mind if we talk after school?
Ren: Sure. What’s up?
Lena: It’s…complicated…
Lena: But I think you’ll relate to it well enough.
Ren: Well…um…OK?
Lena: Don’t worry. It’s not terrible or anything.
Lena: Although, being honest, it might be a little painful.
Ren: I see…
Lena: But it’ll be fine.
Ren: Well, I’ll help.
Ren: Anywhere you want to go?
Lena: I think I just want some fresh air.
Ren: There’s a park we can go to.
Lena: Oh, right. Where we did the cleanup.
Lena: Sorry. A lot’s happened.
Ren: You can say that again.
Lena: Lol!
Lena: Seeya then.
Ren: Seeya!
Ren finished her lunch, and then headed back to class.
After school, she met up with Lena, and the two went to the park. Once they got situated, Lena let out a long sigh. “So, what’s on your mind?” Ren asked.
It took a minute for Lena to answer. “Well, Goro and I went on a date last night?”
Ren was a little surprised. “Um, did he do anything…um…untoward…?” Lena gave her a confused look. “Yeah, it sounded odd coming out of my mouth. I mean, I can’t imagine him doing something like that.”
Lena chuckled. “No, nothing like that. We just got to talking. Goro is a detective, and so he can be a bit preoccupied. Even after I’ve gotten out more, we don’t go out that much because he’s so busy.”
“I see…” Ren said, picking up on what Lena was putting down.
“It’s not that I mind entirely,” Lena quickly countered. “I mean, I even told him I liked him for it. But…it can get lonely sometimes.”
“Right…” Ren said.
“So, I was kind of wondering,” Lena asked, “how do you deal with it?”
Ren was confused. “I beg your pardon?”
“Well…” Lena said. “A lot of days, I see Sumire leave school quickly after the bell rings. Sometimes even before. She goes to practice a lot. I just…imagined you’d have a similar separation anxiety.”
“Oh…” Ren said, fully realizing why she asked Ren here specifically.
“ButIt’sOKYouDon’tHaveToSayAnythingIThinkIShouldGetGoing!” Lena sputtered nervously.
She was about to leave, when Ren called out “Wait!” Lena paused. Ren sighed. “It’s fine.”
Lena was still concerned. “Are you sure?”
Ren nodded. “Trust me.” Lena sighed. She and Ren sat down. Ren slightly chuckled. “To be honest, I’ve never thought about it like that before. But I can see why you’d think I would.”
“Huh,” Lena said, surprised.
“To be honest, I’m still sort of getting used to the idea of having a girlfriend in the first place,” Ren said. “I…kind of resigned myself to being single forever. So actually having someone is, well, nothing short of magic.”
“I see,” Lena said.
“We’ve had a couple dates,” Ren told her. “We’ve hung out. And of course, we are business cohorts.” Lena laughed at the casual cover-up of them being Phantom Thieves. “Do I wish we had more time together? Of course. But…this is gonna sound silly…” She sighed. “I…don’t want to look a gift horse in the mouth, you know.”
Lena put her hand on Ren’s, surprising her. “Ren…It’s OK to want more…” Lena slightly frowned. “I mean, when I was locked up in my mom’s house, I wanted more. It’s OK to be a dreamer.”
Ren was still a little stunned, but then she smiled. “Thanks.” Lena let go. “It’s been a while since I’ve had a dream like this. But I do want to hold onto it for as long as I can.”
Lena blushed. “Me too.”
Ren glanced at Lena. “I mean, I can also help you with your problem as well.”
“You can?” Lena asked.
Ren nodded. “Well, to the best of my ability.” Lena giggled. “I mean, I get it,” Ren continued. “I also want to spend more time with Sumire. But I think something that helps me is that I don’t just have her.”
“Woah,” Lena said.
Ren giggled. “I mean, right now, I’m not with Sumire, but I’m here with you, and that’s not nothing.”
“So, you think I should get more friends?” Lena asked.
“Well, I don’t think that would hurt…” Ren said. “Maybe a little. But I think anyone else in our group would be willing to hang out with you as well.”
“I see,” Lena replied. She grew more confident. “Alright, I think I got it!” She let out a slight chuckle. “Thanks.”
“Anytime,” Ren replied.
Adjustment-Lena Minamoto: Rank 3
“Um, as long as we’re hanging out, is there anything else you want to do?” Lena asked.
“Hmmm,” Ren responded. “Oh! Why don’t I show you a good spot where you and Akechi could have a date.”
“Oooo! Wonderful!” Lena said, excited. “Let’s go.”
Ren showed Lena the boats, and she was in awe. They spent a little more time in the park together before going their separate ways.
As Ren was coming home, she got another message.
Akechi: Pardon me, but do you mind if I stop by this evening?
Ren giggled.
Ren: Not at all.
Akechi: Great! I’m on my way!
Ren: As am I.
Akechi: Oh? Where’d you go?
Ren: I was hanging out with your girlfriend.
Akechi: Oh. Ha ha. I see.
Akechi: Well, I’m glad she’s found a friend in you.
Akechi: What did you talk about?
Ren: Girl stuff. ;P
Akechi: I…see…
Akechi: Well, I’ll be there soon.
Ren giggled and put her phone away, and continued to Leblanc.
A few minutes after she got back, Akechi walked in. “Greetings!” Ren chuckled again. He took a seat next to her. “So, um, how did things go with Lena today?”
“They went well,” Ren said.
“She didn’t seem upset or anything?”
“Nope.”
“I see,” Akechi replied. He sighed, relieved. “I’m glad to hear that.”
“Should she be upset?” Ren asked in her playful voice.
Akechi rolled his eyes. “Do you really take me for that kind of person?”
“Nah, I just wanted to see how you’d react,” Ren replied.
Akechi chuckled. “Well, it is amusing.”
Ren got a little more serious. “How are you doing?”
Akechi sighed. “Well, I’d be lying if I said things were going easy. But at the same time, things are getting more interesting. This whole business with Okumura and The Phantom Thieves is pushing this case to an all-time-high in terms of public fervor. But my objective remains the same. Although…”
“Although what?” Ren wondered.
Akechi sighed. “It’s nothing.” He paused. “Well, not nothing…” He sighed. “For the first time, I’m wondering what will happen after the fact.”
“Huh?” Ren said.
“Well, normally, I assist in cases that are more open and shut,” Akechi said. “Someone kills someone, I find out who did it, they get arrested, they deserve it, and I go on with my life. But a lot of people really believe in The Phantom Thieves. Part of me is starting to see them as something human too. They’re also people with hopes and dreams. When they get caught, what will happen to them?”
“IF they get caught,” Ren corrected.
“Heh heh,” Akechi laughed. “I appreciate your enthusiasm. But I feel like sooner or later, something will catch up to them.”
“If you say so,” Ren said. “Or should I say ‘WHEN you say so’?”
Akechi laughed. “I gotta say, Sumire’s really lucky to have someone as witty as you for a girlfriend.”
Ren paused. She was worried about the crossroads of Akechi running into The Phantom Thieves, which includes Lena. “Hey,” Ren said, more seriously. “What if it’s not just The Phantom Thieves that are only human?”
Akechi was confused. “I beg your pardon?”
“Well…I mean, if The Phantom Thieves are human, then the people they care about and would be doing this for would be human too.”
“Huh,” Akechi said. “I have to admit, that’s a new one on me. A lot of people who I put away have families, some of whom are shocked and don’t want to believe the truth, but yeah…” He sighed. “I know when Lena was being kept in Tamako’s house, being apart from her was devastating. I mean, it sort of still is. I’ve been so busy as of late that we haven’t had much time to be a couple. For it to be similar… Hmmm. I’d have to think about that.”
Ren wasn’t sure if she should say this, but she felt like she needed to. “I think…Lena feels the same…”
“Hm,” Akechi smirked. “I see. I can’t say I’m completely surprised.”
“What are you going to do?” Ren asked.
“Well, there’s nothing I really can do at the moment,” Akechi replied. “Of course, I’d like to spend more time with her, but things are busy as is. I’ve got school, I’ve got cases, I’ve got you.”
Ren was confused. “Me?”
“Yes,” Akechi said. “I’m taking the place of you crude parole officer. Pardon my bluntness.”
“Oh right,” Ren said. “I kind of forgot.”
“Well, it’s not terrible,” Akechi siad. “I like talking with you as friends.”
“Ditto,” Ren replied.
“Maybe once this whole Phantom Thieves thing is over, things will settle down,” Akechi said.
“Maybe…:” Ren said.
“Hm,” Akechi smirked. “Are you worried?” Ren was a little concerned. “Well, don’t worry. You’ve given me a new perspective. Something to help me grow. And for now, that’s enough.”
Justice-Goro Akechi: Rank 6
Akechi checked the time. “I should get going. I’ve gotta get sleep sometime.”
“Oh, right,” Ren said. “Goodnight!” she called out.
“Hm hm. Goodnight!” Akechi replied. He left.
Ren seemed puzzled. “Hey,” Sojiro said. Ren turned to him. “I couldn’t help but overhear your conversation.” Ren seemed puzzled. “You want to lighten his load, don’t you?” Ren wasn’t sure where this was going, but she trusted Sojiro enough to nod. “Hm. I’ve got just the thing.”
He took out a piece of paper. “Your parole officer stops by every once in a while asking about you. I normally try to politely but firmly tell him to scram. But then he heard Futaba’s voice after not hearing it for a while, and now he’s convinced I’m in on some child smuggling operation with you. His name is on this piece of paper.” He slid it over to Ren.
Ren was stunned. “Are you asking me what I think you’re asking me?”
“I’m not asking you anything,” Sojiro said. “I’m asking The Phantom Thieves to deal with a person causing needless strife.”
Ren took the paper. She looked it over, nodded, and said “Gotcha.” She yawned. “I should get some sleep too.” She headed upstairs. “Goodnight Sojiro!”
“Goodnight Ren!” Sojiro replied. Ren finished getting up the stairs while Sojiro closed for the night.

P5R: Rebel Girl (A FeMC Story/P5R Rework) Chapter 61: 4 Targets
The next day, as Ren and Morgana were heading to school, Morgana popped his head out. “So, what are we doing today?”
“Well, I was thinking of going into Mementos,” Ren answered.”Take care of a few requests , as well as getting Makoto more acquainted with the Metaverse.” Morgana smiled, and nodded, and the two of them went to school.
During class, Ren took out her phone and messaged the group.
Ren: We’re meeting up today.
Makoto: Do you always text in class?
Ryuji: Woah! He really didn’t say anything.
Makoto: Who?
Ryuji: Nothing…
Makoto: I’ll ignore that for now.
Ann: So, are we going after Kaneshiro?
Ren: Not quite.
Ren: We have a few Mementos missions to take care of, and I feel like we should do those first.
Makoto: Mementos?
Sumire: Right. She wouldn’t know.
Ryuji: Mementos is everyone’s palace, I think.
Makoto: Could we attack Kaneshiro through there?
Jose: Nope.
Sumire: Palaces are formed when desires are so warped that they don’t fit in in Mementos.
Sumire: While Mementos itself is more of a collective of everyone else’s minds.
Yusuke: Mementos is quite fascinating actually. I’m interested to see what you think.
Makoto: Well, it sounds intriguing.
Ann: OK. Sounds like a plan.
Ren: See you after school at the hideout.
They put their phones away.
After school, they all arrived at the hideout. “So, how does this work?” Makoto asked.
Ren took out her phone and the sheet of paper Mishima gave her. “Well, it’s fairly simple. We make the target aware that we’re going to steal their treasure, then we go in and steal it.”
“That’s also how it works for palace rulers,” Morgana explained, “but unlike the palace rulers, we don’t have to do as much to get to them.”
“I see,” Makoto said.
“We do usually end up having to fight them” Ann lamented.
“But it’s fine,” Ryuji added. “We don’t hurt them in real life this way.”
“But we can get hurt ourselves” Yusuke finished.
“Well...yeah…” Ryuji admitted.
Sumire smiled. “But that’s why we come prepared!”
Jose nodded. “And we also work together to overcome the odds.”
“Hm” Makoto grinned. “Sounds like you have this all down pat.”
“Well, as much as we can,” Ann said. “I mean, none of us even KNEW about this strange parallel world until Ren showed up.”
Ren shoved Ann. “Don’t make it sound like I brought it with me.”
Ann shoved back. “Why not? You were the chosen one in all of this.” The two girls shared a giggle as they continued to playfully fight each other.
“Well then,” Makoto said, causing them to stop, “let’s get crackin’.”
Ren nodded. She looked over Mishima’s paper. “Let’s see. First, we have our follow up. The person pressuring Daisuke into bullying: Yoshimori Sakoda.”
“Wait, someone was bullying Daisuke?” Makoto asked.
Sumire nodded. “Apparently, this guy had some blackmail on Daisuke, and he was using that to manipulate him.” Makoto looked disconcerted. “What’s wrong?”
“Oh!” Makoto exclaimed. “Well, when we confronted him, he brushed us off saying ‘there’s more going on than you know’. At the time, I thought it was just bluster. I did notice a change in his behavior recently too. Was that you?” They all nodded. “I see.” She grew a little frustrated.
“OK, next on Mishima’s list, we have a girl named Hikari Shimuzu,” Ren continued. “She’s been torturing this one guy, basically making him her slave. He’s been coming to school with bruises all over.”
“Sounds horrible!” Ann said. “We MUST put a stop to this!”
“Did he put the request in?” Jose asked.
“It doesn’t say,” Ren answered.
“Hm” Jose thought.
“What’s wrong Jose?” Sumire asked.
“Well, in my studies on humanity, I’ve heard of people who derive pleasure from pain,” Jose explained. Everyone else was stunned. “What’s it called again?”
“Even if that was the case, this sounds like it’s going too far!” Ryuji interjected.
“Oh?” Jose wondered. “And how do you know?”
“Uhhhhhhhhh” Ryuji stammered.
Yusuke jumped in. “Well, if someone thinks it’s enough of a problem to raise awareness of it on the Phan-site, it’s at least worth checking out.”
“Well put, Yusuke-senpai,” Sumire chimed in.
Ren nodded. “And last on the list is a restaurant manager named Nozumi Ono, who, according to the request, does little to no work, berates their employees for even the slightest mistakes, and takes all the credit and money for himself.”
“Disgusting” Makoto reacted.
“I couldn’t agree more,” Morgana added.
“Sounds like a total jerk” Ryuji piled on.
“So, we’re all in favor?” Ren asked. Yusuke raised his hand. “Yusuke?”
“If I may,” he began, “I found something I think we should investigate as well. A string of burglaries being tied to us.”
“WHAT?!” Ryuji shouted.
“Oh, those,” Jose said. “Well, from what I’ve heard, the perpetrator has been using calling cards that resemble ours, but apparently, not even the police believe them.”
“Well, that’s a relief,” Morgana said sardonically.
“But they still don’t know who did it,” Jose said.
“If I may, I wasn’t finished” Yusuke said
“Sorry” Jose apologized.
“You are forgiven,” Yusuke assured him. “Ahem. I did overhear a student planning said burglaries.”
“Really?” Ann asked. “How’d you manage to swing that?”
“I’m not sure myself,” Yusuke replied. “I was just passing by, and he was talking to himself as if no one else was there.”
“Did he just not hear you coming?” Sumire said.
“I suppose so,” Yusuke answered. “Although, I am curious as to how he didn’t see me. I was walking toward him.” The rest of the group looked on blankly. “Well, whatever the case may be, I know who it is.”
“Great job, Yusuke” Makoto cheered him on in an embarrassed tone.
“Why thank you” Yusuke said, not picking it up at all. “His name is Kazyua Makigami.”
“I’ll ask Mishima to add him,” Ren said, texting Mishima.
“Oh, right,” Makoto said, realizing something. “Mishima-kun’s involved in this?”
“Yeah” Ren answered. “He’s in charge of the Phan-site.”
“Oh. I thought that was you guys” Makoto said.
“Well, he knows who we are,” Ryuji explained.
“But he’s on our side” Ann continued.
“Besides,” Ren said, “having him manage the site leaves more time to plan and do things like this.”
“I see,” Makoto said. “Well, as long as you trust him.”
Ren smiled and nodded. “I just sent the word to him. Are we ready?” Everyone else nodded. “Then let’s go.” They all headed into Mementos.
Upon entry, Makoto looked around. “Woah! This isn’t exactly what I expected. But it is interesting nonetheless.”
Ren smied. “Welcome, to the garden of madness.”
“Well, no time like the present,” Makoto said. She started to walk off the platform, but Ren and Sumire caught her.
“Woah, Queen-senpai,” Sumire said.
“What is it?” Makoto asked.
Ren and Sumire helped her back up. Ren then explained. “Memento is huge. It’s too big to walk through.”
Makoto was confused. “Then how do you get around?”
“Myeh heh heh” Morgana chuckled. “My time to shine! Transform!” He transformed into the car.
“Woah!” Makoto said.
“Heh heh” Morgana laughed.
Makoto thought about it. “So, this world is based around people’s perceptions…”
“Correct” Ann answered.
“And I’m guessing that this is because a lot of people have the image of cats turning into vehicles” Makoto went on.
“Also correct,” Ren added.
“But according to Mona himself, he’s not a cat,” Makoto finished. Everyone stood in silence for a few moments before Ren broke down laughing.
“Well…” Morgana began uncomfortably, “...I guess it’s because most people see me as a cat…”
“Oh. That makes sense” Makoto responded.
Ren finished her laughing fit. “Alright. We should get going. Hop in.” Everyone got in and they started driving off.
Once they reached the end of the first floor, Makoto was stunned. “That’s it?”
“No,” Ann answered.
“Then how big is it?” Makoto asked.
“No idea,” Ryuji responded.
“Huh,” Makoto remarked.
“We believe Eris is hold up at the bottom,” Ren explained.
“Oh!” Makoto said, excited. “So, we need to break through to the bottom?”
“Basically” retorted Ren. “Although to gain the ability to do so, we need to make a bigger name for ourselves as the Phantom Thieves.”
“I see,” Makoto pondered. “Well then, let’s give it all we got then!”
Sumire chuckled. “I love your attitude, Queen-senpai!”
“Although it seems easier said than done,” Yusuke explained.
“It seems like we have to play Eris’s game to be able to get to the bottom,” Jose iterated.
“I don’t care,” Makoto said. “If this Eris can turn someone like Naoko into someone willing to murder, I’ll do anything to put them in their place.”
“Woah! Scary” Ryuji remarked.
“No, I get it,” Yusuke said. “Eris really messed with someone she cared about. I have a similar feeling towards her about Kosuke.”
“I’m not saying I don’t get it,” Ryuji explained. “I’m just saying that she’s scary.”
“You want me to be sunshine and roses about this?” Makoto asked.
“That’s not what I meant either,” Ryuji continued.
“Just stop,” Ann said. “You’re going to keep digging a hole for yourself.”
“...Yeah” Ryuji relented.
Ren giggled. “I think what Skull’s trying to say is that if he is afraid of you, whoever we’re fighting better be incredibly worried.”
“Yeah. Something like that” Ryuji agreed.
Makoto nodded. “Very well.” They continued onward.
They came upon a portal and hopped in. “I think that guy is Yoshimori’s shadow,” Ryuji exclaimed. “The guy that’s been bullying Daisuke.”
“Well then, let’s put a stop to his reign of terror once and for all,'' Sumire said aggressively.
“I couldn’t agree more,” Makoto said, cracking her knuckles.
They walked up to him. “Tch. Looks like someone ratted me out.”
“Sure did,” Ren said. “And we’re going to put a stop to you and your fledgling school empire.”
“PAH!” Yoshimori spit. “I’d like to see you try!”
“He’s not trying to convince us to join him,” Yusuke remarked.
“We aren’t meeting on my terms,” Yoshimori explained. “I would have liked to ally with you, but apparently that Akechi boy was wrong. If I had your power, I’d make all bow before me.”
“Well that’s why we have it and not you!” Ann shouted.
“C’mon!” Yoshimori shouted. “Do you really think the people in the school care about scum like us? I’m just evening the odds.”
“By forcefully recruiting people!” Sumire snapped.
“Well, how else are you going to get people on your side?” Yoshimori asked. “Deep down inside, all people are nothing but selfish jerks.”
“Enough!” Makoto screamed. “You go on and on about how it’s you vs them, and you don’t even try to differentiate yourself. You’re no better than Principal Kobayakawa.”
“No better?” a shocked Yoshimori retorted. “No BETTER?!” He transformed into Black Frost. “WE’LL SEE ABOUT THAT!”
“BRING IT ON!” Makoto shouted back. After a well-fought battle, the Phantom Thieves won.
“Gah!” Yoshimori grunted. “Why does no one like me?”
“Um, probably because you blackmail them?” Ryuji took a stab at answering.
“Even before that,” Yoshimori added. “I always have to make people try and like me. But it all just falls apart.”
Makoto glared at him. “It’s because you’re not honest with yourself.” Yoshimori gasped. “You don’t like doing this either, do you?”
Yoshimori looked at her. “N...No…”
“And yet you do it,” Makoto said.
“How do you know how I feel?!” Yoshimori yelled.
“Because I was there once too,” Makoto answered sternly. Yoshimori gasped again. “The problem isn’t everyone else. It’s you. Once you find a you that you can be comfortable with, then you can start reaching out to others earnestly.”
Yoshimori smirked. “Thank you. I needed that. It might take some time to find myself, but I’ll dissolve my network based on blackmail.”
“That’s a good start,” Makoto said.
“If I reached out to you when I find myself, could we be friends?” Yoshimori asked.
“Of course,” Makoto answered. Yoshimori smiled and faded away. Ren took the treasure.
“Wow,” Morgana commented. “People are complicated.”
“True” Makoto agreed. “But we are meant to be social creatures. We ought to help each other in need.”
“I see,” Jose noted. “Fascinating.”
“I guess you’re right,” Morgana responded. “I feel that way too sometimes. I guess that’s part of the reason I feel split.”
“Well, hopefully staying at my place is helping,” Ren added.
Morgana smiled. “Yeah.” Ren smiled back.
Makoto smiled too. “Well, we should get going. We’ve got other people to help, you know.” Everyone nodded, and they left.
They continued onward until they got to the next door. Standing between them and said door was another shadow. “That’s Hikari Shimizu’s shadow!” Ann remarked. “The girl that’s been abusing someone.”
“I feel bad for him,” Ryuji said.
“Well, we’re here to help,” Jose reminded him.
“You said this boy is covered in bruises in real life?” Yusuke asked. “If that’s the case, she might be a dangerous opponent.”
“True. We should be on guard” Makoto reminded them. They walked forward.
“Ugh. So you’re the Phantom Thieves?” Hikari bemoaned. “Why are you bothering me?”
Ren dramatically pointed. “We;re here to stop your abuse.”
“Yeah, you’ve been treating this boy like he’s your slave!” Ryuji added.
“Please. He wants it” Hikari explained. “I just give it to him.”
“He wants bruises?” Yusuke remarked. “I don’t quite think that’s true.”
“I am his queen!” Hikari snapped. “He takes whatever I give him!”
“Yeah?! Well, you shouldn’t treat him like dirt!” Ann snapped back. “If you’re his queen, make yourself a respectable queen! Not just some annoying monarch that holds absolute power over him!”
“Grrr” Hikari growled. “I’m smart, I’m pretty, and he worships me. I’m allowed to do what I want with him!”
“No you’re not!” Ann yelled. “He’s a person too!”
“Grrrrrrah!” Hikari yelled, transforming into Yaksini, “I’ll just do whatever I want with you!” The thieves fought Hikari’s shadow. While it was a tad bit tricky, the thieves won. “NO!” Hikari yelled after defeat. “I don’t want to lose him…”
“Lose him?” Ann asked.
“Yeah. If I apologize, and say what I’m doing is wrong, he’ll run away…” Hikari explained. “And I don’t want that.”
“How did this all start?” Jose asked.
“He came up to me one day… Hikari began. “He asked me if I needed anything. I told him ‘a foot massage’ as a joke, but he really did it.”
“And you didn’t stop him?” Jose inquired.
“Well...I liked it…” Hikari continued. “...And him…”
“Oh” Jose said, surprised.
“You mean like like like?” Ann asked.
Hikari nodded. “Day in and day out, I’d ask him to do more and more ridiculous things, and it just spiraled out of control. Now I feel like this is the only way I can hang onto him.”
“Listen,” Ann said, beginning to offer advice, “being in a relationship requires the two people to be on the same page. If neither of you are happy, you need to feel confident enough to say so.”
“Yeah,” Ryuji added. “I mean, it sounds like this guy also kind of likes you too. And even if he’s willing to do some things for you, if you push him too far, you’ll just push him away.”
“But…” Hikari groaned.
“I know,” Ann said. “It’s hard. But you have to try. If you want this to work, you both have to be happy.”
Hikari started crying. “You’re right. Thank you.” She faded and Ren stole the treasure.
“Well, I think that went well,” Ann said. Jose was looking at her, puzzled. “What is it Sunshine?”
Jose tilted his head. “I know you told Fox, but are you sure you and Skull aren’t a couple?” Both of them started to blush. “Because you sounded like a couple just now.”
“Ha ha” Ann laughed nervously. “Of course we aren’t a couple.”
“Yeah” Ryuji said, equally as nervous. “Our advice applies to all kinds of relationships.”
“I see,” Jose said.
Ren stifled a laugh. “Well, if we’re done here, let's see what the next bit of Mementos looks like, shall we?” Ren walked over and placed her hand on the door. It opened up. Once it finished, she turned around. “What are we waiting for?” The thieves all walked over and headed deeper into Mementos.
Soon after, they found another portal and jumped in. “I think this is Nozomi Odo,” Morgana said. “The slave-driving restaurant manager.”
“Ugh, people like him make me sick!” Ryuji remarked. “Let’s do this fast. The sooner we do this, the sooner he’ll be a better manager.”
They nodded in agreement and approached Nozomi’s shadow. “What do you want?” he asked indignantly.
“What we WANT is for you to treat your employees with kindness!” Sumire said, stomping her foot on the ground.
“Tch” Nozomi reacted, brushing it off like it was nothing. “Have you ever worked in a restaurant?”
“Well, no…” Sumire admitted.
“If you did, you’d know that that’s the law of the land,” Nozomi explained. “You get treated like shit, until you work up to a place where you treat others like shit.”
“What garbage!” Makoto said, stepping forward. “You’re a leader! You need to step up and act as such.”
“I am,” Nozumi said.
“No” Makoto seethed. “You’re a coward. A REAL leader looks out of their team. Not just themselves.”
“Tch. I don’t have time for this” Nozomi said. He transformed into Setanta. “Starting now, I’m YOUR boss!”
“You should know, we don’t take kindly to those in authority,” Yusuke quipped.
“GAH!” Nozomi yelled. The thieves charged into battle, and won. “It’s not fair,” Nozomi said after losing. “I went through all of this before. Why should they be treated differently?”
“Look,” Makoto said forcefully. “What your employees are going through sucks, and what you went through was also probably terrible. But you don’t need to continue the cycle of abuse. You can end it here.
Being a leader is hard work. I should know. But you need to make sure all that hard work is worth it in the end. Otherwise you’re going to wake up one day and realize you hate the person staring back at you in the mirror.”
“Heh. You’re right” Nozomi said. “Man, getting lectured by some kids really puts things into perspective. Thanks.” He faded away, and Ren took the treasure.
They continued onwards and found another portal. Again, they hopped into it. “By process of elimination, this would be Kazuya Makigami’s shadow,” Yusuke said.
“The jerk thief who’s using our name to steal things,” Morgana added.
“But didn’t Sunshine say that not even the police believe that we’re associated with him?” Sumire inquired.
“I did say that, yes,” Jose said.
“Well...it’s the principle of the matter,” Morgana said.
“Whatever the reason, we need to put a stop to it,” Yusuke said.
“I couldn’t agree more,” Ren nodded. They walked over to him.
“Ah, the glorious Phantom Thieves,” Kazuya said. “Have you come to join forces?”
“No. Of course not!” Makoto refuted.
“Then why?” Kazuya wondered.
“Put simply, we’re here to stop you,” Yusuke explained.
“WHAT?” Kazuya shouted. “But we have the same goals. We’re on the same side. There’s no need for fighting.”
“Then will you just stop burglarizing people?” Sumire asked.
“And using our name?” Morgana added.
“WHAT? You don’t like that?” Kazuya asked.
“Of course not!” Ann said.
“Grrr. I thought you were cool” Kazuya grumbled. “Fighting for the underdogs. I thought the world needed people like you. But I guess power just corrupts, as the saying goes. SO…” he transformed into Mithras, “...I guess I’ll just use my power to stop you!”
“...You literally just said power corrupts,” Ryuji said, picking up on the irony.
“SHUT UP!” Kazuya shouted. The thieves charged into combat, and while it was a bit tough, since they’ve been going for a bit, it was nothing they couldn’t handle. Once Kazuya was defeated, he was breathing heavily.
“Pardon me,” Yusuke wondered, “but why do this at all?”
Kazuya looked at them. “Fine. I guess I owe you that at least. Ever since I was a kid, my parents were always more impressed with my little brother. He was more successful at everything, and because of that, he was their favorite. It almost felt like I wasn't even there sometimes.
Yeah, I was jealous, but I didn’t do anything. I felt like that was just how things were. And then you came along, and taught me that maybe things can change. So I began abusing my brother. And when that wasn’t enough, I took out my anger on every bigshot I could find. I started gathering some like-minded people, and I assume you know the rest.”
“How terrible,” Sumire remarked.
“Yeah,” Kazuya agreed. He sighed. “I probably should have said something earlier.”
“It’s not too late…” Sumire pointed out.
“I guess you’re right,” Kazuya replied.
“Well, as long as you’re making it up with him,” Yusuke said.
Kazuya smirked. He took his own treasure out of him. “If you can find my brother, tell him to use this key to open my nightstand drawer and burn what’s inside.”
“Are you sure?” Yusuke asked. Kazuya nodded. “Very well.” He grabbed it.
“Just promise me you’ll keep going after people who deserve it,” Kazuya said.
“You have our word,” Yusuke said. Kazuya smiled and faded away.
“How are we supposed to find his brother?” Ryuji asked.
“He also goes to Kosei,” Yusuke said. “I can give it to him…”
“That might be a bit conspicuous,” Morgana pointed out. “I’ll just drop it off in the cover of night.”
“Very well then,” Yusuke said. They left.
Ren asked “Do you want to keep going, or is that fine enough for now?”
“We did get all of our targets” Ann pointed out.
“Eh, I at least want to get to the next door,” Ryuji said. “It probably won’t open, but it’s a good marker of progress.”
“I agree,” Jose said.
“Anyone have any objections?” Ren asked. No response. “Very well.” They kept rolling. Eventually, they made it to the next door. “Well, we’re one step closer.”
“If I’m assuming correctly, this will open once we defeat Kaneshiro?” Makoto asked.
“Sees that way” Ryuji answered.
“Do we want to do that right away then?” Makoto wondered.
“No,” Ren answered. Makoto looked at her. “We shouldn’t keep blitzing through things. We are tough, but going through the metaverse is exhausting. We need our rest.”
“I see,” Makoto said. “What smart and thoughtful advice. Truly, you’ve adapted to the role of leader quite well.”
Ren was embarrassed. “Thanks.”
“Well, then, I guess that’s all we’re going to get now,” Makoto said. “Should we head out?” Everyone nodded, and they all headed up to leave Mementos. On their way back, Makoto noticed Sumire seeming awfully distant. “Something on your mind Violet?”
“Huh?” Sumire gasped. “Oh yeah. My meet is coming up, and being down here, and seeing everyone’s different problems has got me thinking.”
“You know we’re here for you” Ren reminded her.
Sumire smiled. “Thanks senpai” Sumire said, smiling and blushing. She looked down. “I guess seeing all those people suffering just has me in a tizzy. I mean, I was fraught with so many problems that I didn’t know what to do. So, in a way, this was kind of cathartic. It really helped me put things into perspective. If they can improve, then I know I can!”
“Way to go Violet!” Ann cheered.
“Yeah! You show them!” Ryuji followed.
Jose looked at them. “Are you really sure you’re not a couple?”
“YES!” they both answered, slightly embarrassed.
Sumire giggled. She then covered her mouth. “Oh. Sorry.” Ren then started snickering. One by one, people started laughing along. Pretty soon, the entire PT crew was in stitches. Between the laughter and the exploration, they felt exhausted and remained silent until they left Mementos.
As Ren and Mogana were heading home, Ren bumped into someone. “Oh, sorry.”
“It’s OK,” the woman Ren bumped into said. Ren looked up, as did Morgana. They recognized her as Ryoko Aino, the person who kidnapped cats and almost kidnapped Morgana. She took notice of Morgana. “Oooo. What a cute kitty. Mind if I pet him?”
Morgana hissed. Ren put her hands on him to stop him. “I’m sorry. He’s usually really kind.”
“Oh no,” Ryoko said. “I think it’s my fault.” She fished through her purse. She handed a can to Ren. “Um, for a little while, I was, um, kidnapping cats. And I almost got this little one.”
“Oh?” Ren inquired.
“I was saddened by the loss of my own cat, Snowball” Ryoko informed her. “I panicked, and I got it in my head that I needed to protect all of the cats in the area. But I came to my senses after the Phantom Thieves saved me. So, I’m sorry.”
“I see,” Ren said. She looked at Morgana. “Well, what do you think?”
Morgana was pouting, but knew the answer. “I guess it’s OK.”
Ren smiled. She turned back. “He says he’ll let you pet him.”
“Really?” Ryoko said, beaming. She started petting Morgana, and Morgana started purring. After she was done, she bowed and said “Take care.”
“We will,” Ren said. “And thanks.” The two nodded and went their separate ways. Ren looked at the can. “Wow.”
“What is it?” Morgana asked.
“It’s some fairly expensive tuna,” Ren said. “I guess this is part of her apology.”
“WOW,” Morgana said, drooling. “I know what I want tonight.”
As they were entering Leblanc, they passed by two young adults and an old man, who they recognized as Heiji Ono, the former belligerent old man in Kijijoji. As she came in, she looked at Sojiro and said “I haven’t seen them before.”
Sojiro grinned. “Maybe they’ll start a trend. It’s always nice to get new customers. You know, they only came by to spend some nice quiet time with their grandpa, but I hope they tell others how good the food was.” Ren smiled. Sojiro went on. “The old guy sure was somethin’ else. When he got his drink, he quietly toasted the Phantom Thieves. His grandkids didn’t hear it, but I caught it.”
Ren sat down at the counter. “What do you think of these Phantom Thieves?”
“Well, if that guy is toasting them, they can’t be all bad,” Sojiro said. “But I’m not one to accept things like that so easily. Maybe if they came in and had some curry, and we got to chatting, I might soften up to them more.”
Ren smiled. “You want me to start an ad campaign?”
“Huh?” Sojiro said, taken aback. “Of course not. That prosecutor’s been on my ass enough. I don’t need her breathing down my neck thinking I have a link with the Phantom Thieves.”
“I getcha,” Ren said. “It can be hard to trust people sometimes.”
Sojiro looked at her. “Well, I know I can trust you. I hope you can trust me too.”
“Of course,” Ren said.
Sojiro smiled. “Here. Let me make you some curry. But then I gotta head out.” Sojiro prepared some curry and handed it to Ren. She took one bite and was delighted. “Heh heh. Well, seeya.” Ren waved as Sojiro left.
Morgana was pouting. “Don’t think I forgot.” Ren said. She got up, fetched a can opener, and opened up the tuna for Morgana.
“MEOW!” he frenzied. He plopped his face in the can and went to town.
Ren smiled. “Hm.” She took another bite of her curry. After she swallowed it, she said “Today was a good day.” She continued eating, then went to bed soon after.

P5R: Rebel Girl (A FeMC Story/P5R Rework) Chapter 45: Old Wounds
Ren was a little anxious waiting on the confession. Yusuke had been keeping them updated about Madarame’s condition, and it seemed good, but Madarame was old. She was worried that all of this might have put too much strain on him, and he couldn’t handle it. Then again, if he had the power to abuse his students, maybe he could make it though.
Still, he felt best to alleviate some of her worries by going to talk to Dr. Maruki about her concerns, both in and out of the metaverse. She shot him a message first, in case anyone else had plans to see him.
Ren: Hey doc, are you available?
Dr. Maruki: The coast is clear.
Ren: OMW then.
She headed over. Once she got there, she knocked on the door. “Come in,” Maruki instructed. Ren walked in. “Have a seat.” Ren did so. “What’s on your mind?”
Ren put her head in her hands. “Well, right now I’m just a bit worried.”
“How come?” Maruki asked.
“Well, it’s just our latest target…” Ren responded.
“Ah yes, I heard about that,” Maruki said. “Madarame, huh. I would never have guessed.”
“Well, it’s becoming more and more apparent to me that not everything is as it seems,” Ren said.
“True” Maruki retorted. “So, what’s the issue then?
“Well, I’m just worried that because of Madarame’s advanced age, the combined stress of almost having his palace taken over and his treasure stolen, it might just be too much for him,” Ren explained.
“I see,” Maruki said. “While it is true that your emotional standing can take a toll on one’s physical health, I don’t think there’s too much to worry about.” Ren looked up. “Remember, the shadows are incomplete, and that includes the shadows of those who have palaces. So, them losing their palace and treasure is more akin to them running out of steam. So long as someone is taking care of him, he should be fine.”
“Hm,” Ren said. “He should be fine then.”
“Well, that sure seems quick,” Maruki said. “Is there anything else you’d like to talk about? How are you outside of being a Phantom Thief?”
Ren seemed a little puzzled. “Fine enough, I guess.”
“Well, you certainly are a strong one,” Maruki remarked.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Ren asked, slightly indignant.
“Well, it’s just, not a lot of people would say they’re fine after getting falsely accused of assault,” Maruki noted.
Ren sort of pouted. “I guess that’s true.” There was a bit of silence. Ren sighed. “I’ve sort of noticed that Tokyo has changed me.”
“In what ways?” Maruki asked.
“Well, for starters, I have friends now, '' Ren said. She then realized what she had said. She panicked for a second, but decided to keep going. “Back home, I never really connected with anyone. Well, maybe when I was younger. But as things changed, no one really wanted to be friends with me.”
“I see,” Maruki observed. “Might I ask, how did you make your first friend in Tokyo?”
Ren looked at him. “Well, that, um…” She took a deep breath. “On my first day at school, I came across Ann at a crosswalk. Then Kamoshida pulled over and invited Ann in the car. He invited me as well, and we both agreed to it. I went solely to make sure Ann was alright.”
“Hm,” Maruki said, jotting things down. “So, you didn’t know her, but you wanted to keep her safe?”
Ren looked at him. “That’s right. And then when we got out, we just stuck together for the rest of the day. Well, except for when Ann had to use the bathroom. And just my luck, Kamoshida called me to his office then.”
“Oh my” Maruki said, surprised. “What happened then?”
“He tried to make a move on me,” Ren said. “But before anything could happen, Ann came in and took me out of there.”
“Hm. Well, that certainly was lucky, don’t you think?” Maruki asked.
“I guess so,” Ren said.
“Sorry, but that wasn’t entirely the answer I was expecting,” Maruki said. “She saved you because you were friends, correct?”
Ren was shocked. “I guess. But I don’t think Ann was just returning the favor. She felt really bad about not telling me about Kamoshida before that happened.”
“Hm. It seems like you have all the pieces, but you’re having trouble putting them into place” Maruki said.
Ren was confused. “I don’t suppose you have an answer then.”
“I may,” Maruki said. “But let’s see if you can’t find an answer first.” Ren thought for a moment. “If I may, let’s jog that thought process. What do you suppose would happen if you hadn’t met up with Ann but were still called to Kamoshida’s office?”
“I’m not sure,” Ren responded. “I’m not sure what would have happened between me and Kamoshida had Ann not interrupted.”
Maruki laughed. “Sorry, but you sort of touched on the answer.” Ren was perplexed. “You’re wondering what would have happened if Ann hadn’t shown up. But that’s not what I asked.” Ren was surprised. “All I asked was ‘What would happen if you hadn’t met Ann, but Kamoshida called out to you?’ Nowhere in that scenario does it state that Ann wouldn’t come.” Ren was shocked. “I think we’re sort of getting to the heart of the issue.”
“And that would be?” Ren inquired.
Maruki gave a serious look. “It’s hard for you to accept kindness at face value.” Ren was stunned. “This is just a hypothesis, but I’m guessing that due to that lack of connection you talked about in your hometown, you’re not used to receiving kindness from others. So when it does happen, you’re not 100% sure how to handle it.”
en thought about this for a moment. “I’ve been told...similar things...recently… You’re good.”
“I didn’t go to college for nothing,” Maruki said.
“What do you suggest I do?” Ren asked.
Maruki paused. “Well, like most things, this isn’t an overnight fix. But I think this is a case for Ockham's Razor. You have friends now. You should work on accepting their kindness when it is offered.”
Ren seemed a bit disappointed in herself. “I guess that makes sense.” She sighed deeply.
“I guess that’s a bit harder than I thought,” Maruki reacted.
“No, it’s just…” Ren said. “I get what you’re saying, and I think I’ve been getting better at that, but after spending so long putting up walls, it’s hard to know how to take them down without breaking.”
Maruki clearly saw Ren was troubled. The idea that people would be nice to her without reason is something that rarely crossed her mind, and in turn it made her keep people at arm’s length. In an instant, Maruki decided to do something a bit drastic.
“...as Rumi” he said, seemingly randomly. Ren looked up at him, confusion strewn about her face. “‘I’m not as good a cook as Rumi.’ That’s what I was saying at the clean up.”
Ren was curious about this sudden topic shift, but decided to roll with it. “And, who is Rumi?”
“My ex-girlfriend,” Maruki stated.
“Oh” Ren said, trying not to push it.
“Heh,” Maruki chuckled, catching Ren’s attention. “Our break-up was a little unusual.” Tears started to stream down his eyes. “You see, we were engaged to be wed. However, fate can be cruel sometimes. Her family home was robbed, and her parents were murdered. She went into a catatonic shock, and fell into a coma.
I visited her every day in the hospital. I was at a point where I’d give anything to see her smile again. Fate can be funny too. I had been researching cognitive psience a bit, and in the moment I wished for anything to get Rumi back, she woke up. However, she had no idea who I was.
I think whatever power I had was starting to manifest. After she had woken up, the doctors had examined her. Her memory was scuffed, but she was Rumi all the same. However, I decided that if I were to stay in Rumi’s life, it would only serve to hurt her. So, we split up.
After that, I grew even more involved in my research. I was more dedicated than ever to use cognitive psience for good. To make sure no one had to suffer like Rumi did. And when that was taken away from me, my palace appeared. But that didn’t last either.”
Ren was awestruck. Maruki had just said a lot, all the while his eyes were flowing like a river. “Why did you tell me all of that?”
“Well,” Maruki began, tears still erupting from his eyes, “I figured I needed to lead by example.” Ren was a tad puzzled. “You were worried about how to be more accepting of kindness and changing how you relate to people without breaking. The answer to that is break. Breaking is good. It shows that you’re responding to someone’s honest feelings with honesty of your own.”
“And that’s why you decided to spill your guts about what happened to you?” Ren asked.
Maruki nodded. He took his glasses off, dried his eyes, and put his glasses back on. “To be honest, I’ve never really gotten past what happened with Rumi. And I guess that led to the creation of my palace. But now, I have to face it head on if I wanna get anywhere else. And I suggest you do the same. You’re probably stronger than I am, which is why you seemed to hold out in your sense of justice this entire time. But if you wish to let Tokyo mold you into the best person you can be, then it’s important to show weakness when needed.”
Ren nodded. “Right.”
Councilor-Takato Maruki: Rank 2
She got up and bowed. “Thanks doctor.”
She was about to leave, but before she could, Dr. Maruki called out “Wait!” she stopped. “Before you go, would you care for a snack?” Ren smiled and picked something out of his bowl of treats.
As Ren was heading out, eating her snack, Morgana popped out “Um, don’t take this the wrong way, but it seems like you were already doing the stuff Dr. Maruki suggested. So why thank him?”
“Well, it’s complicated,” Ren said, between bites. “It’s like when you have a question in your mind, and it’s plaguing your every thought, but when you say it out loud the answer is crystal clear. I might have been growing, but now I have more of an awareness of it. Does that make sense?”
“I guess,” Morgana said, a little embarrassed. “It’s like when you picked up on my crush on Lady Ann when I told you I only have the mission to think about.”
“There you go,” Ren said. She continued eating and heading out.
Later that night, she arrived at Untouchable. “Hey,” Iwai said.
“How’s business?” Ren asked.
“Business is going fine,” Iwai said. “But I’m also working on something.”
“I hope it’s more customizable parts,” Ren said.
Iwai grinned. “Ha. But no. I’m looking into the information we acquired from the diner the other day.”
“Oh” Ren said, deadpan.
Iwai looked forlorn. He sighed. “I guess I gotta tell ya. Otherwise things won’t make sense. At least, if things play out as expected. That guy, Masa, and the guy he was talking to, Tsuda. Back in the day, the three of us were mafia brethren.” Ren was a little stunned. “Back then, I was just a dumb kid lookin’ for a place to belong. And I found it. At least for a while.”
“What happened that you gave it up?” Ren asked.
“Well…” Iwai began.
The door then opened up. They looked over to see a boy a bit younger than Ren. “Hey” he said.
Iwai was a bit shocked. “What’d I tell you about coming here unannounced?”
The boy was stunned. “...Sorry.”
Iwai sighed. “No. I’m the one who’s sorry. I didn’t mean to snap at you like that.”
The boy looked at Ren. “Who’s she?”
“She’s just some hired help,” Iwai explained.
The boy was surprised. “You hired someone?”
“Yeah, well…” Iwai lamented.
“That’s great!” the boy said. Iwai was surprised. “You've been stressed out lately, so it’ll help to have someone lighten the load.”
wai was still shocked. “Heh. Careful now. With thinking like that, if you start a business of your own, you might run me out.”
The boy’s face was now flush. “Aw stop. You’re embarrassing me.” He turned to Ren. “I’m Kaoru. Kaoru Iwai.”
Ren was a little surprised. “My son,” Iwai said, hoping to clarify, but only serving to confuse Ren some more. “He’s a third year in middle school.”
Kaoru nodded. “And what’s your name?”
Ren was still trying to process everything. Still, she composed herself and introduced herself. “Ren. Ren Amamiya. Second-year high schooler, and part time worker at your father’s store.”
“Wow,” Kaoru said. He bowed. “Nice to meet you.”
“Likewise” Ren said.
“So, what are you doing here anyways?” Iwai asked.
“Oh, right,” Kaoru said. “I’m wondering if you’ll be home for dinner tonight. I headed out shopping and was wondering if I needed to get enough food for the both of us, or just me.” Ren took note of that particular line.
Iwai checked his phone. “You say you just left to go shopping?” Kaoru nodded. “Alright. Get enough for both of us. I’ve gotta finish a few things around the shop, and then I’ll join you, and we can go home together.”
“Oh. OK” Kaoru said. He started to leave. “It was nice meeting you, Ren. Ah. I should be calling you ‘Ren-snepai’.” Ren blushed just a little. “See you later!” He left.
Iwai looked a mixture of relieved, disappointed, and amused. “So, what happened to Kaoru’s mom?” Ren asked.
Iwai was now more surprised than that strange trio of emotions he felt a second ago. He sighed. “Well, for starters, Kaoru isn’t my biological child” he began explaining. Ren felt confused, concerned, and weirdly, relieved. “Do you want the lie or the truth?”
“Both, if possible” Ren said, defaulting on her natural playfulness.
“Hm. Figures” Iwai said. “I told Kaoru, and pretty much everyone who doesn’t know me, that Kaoru’s parents died in a car crash, and I took him in. I figured something must have happened to him. When I first came across him, I noticed he had this scar shaped like a gecko.”
“You mean, like yours?” Ren asked.
“Well, that came after,” Iwai said. “I got it to show solidarity with Kaoru. It’s like a family crest.”
“Softie” Ren teased.
Iwai smiled, unable to deny that. He grew serious again. “What really happened was that Kaoru’s birth mom came to some of us in the Yakuza asking to sell Kaoru for drug money. When we said no, she just left him there. I decided to take care of him then. And that meant going on the straight and narrow.”
Ren was surprised. “Damn and I thought you were a softie with the lie.”
“Heh” Iwai grunted. “I just figured that this kid needed a fighting chance.”
Ren rolled her eyes. “So, Kaoru doesn’t know you are ex-yakuza?” Iwai shook his head. “Why not tell him?”
“Because…” Iwai said. “I don’t want him being dragged down by me. I know my parents never gave enough of a shit about me, so I’m trying to give enough of a shit about him. If he finds out I was a mafia guy, he’ll know I’m a failure, and all of that will go down the drain.”
“I still think you should consider it,” Ren said. “If you’re so worried about him finding out via him walking in, it might be better to explain it on your own terms.”
Iwai thought about it. “Maybe. But he’s got a lot to focus on right now. I don’t wanna drag him down when he needs to focus on things like high school entrance exams.”
“I guess that’s fair” Ren said. “But maybe you should tell him before things get out of hand.”
Iwai sighed. “You’re probably right, but I have my own hang ups.”
“That’s fine,” Ren said. “I’m not hang up free either, so I get it.”
Iwai smiled. “And you call me a softie.”
“What can I say? Birds of a feather…” Ren noted. Iwai got a good chuckle out of that.

“Anyways, you should get going,” Iwai said. “In case you forgot, I've gotta get home for dinner.”
“Right” Ren nodded. She gleefully left the store and went back to Leblanc.

P5R: Rebel Girl (A FeMC Story/P5R Rework) Chapter 59: A Deeper Look
On Thursday, Ren got a message from Yusuke.
Yusuke: Pardon me, but do you think we could go to Mementos, just the two of us?
Ren: That’s an unusual date spot.
Yusuke: Ah! Forgive me. I wasn’t asking you out on a date.
Ren: ...I know...I was just teasing you…
Yusuke: Ah. Forgive me. I’m not used to being “teased”.
Ren: I can tell…
Yusuke: So, you forgive me?
Ren: Sure.
Yusuke: Very well.
Yusuke: So, is that a ‘yes’?
Ren: I guess…
Ren: Why just the two of us?
Yusuke: This isn’t meant as a proper traversal of Mementos.
Yusuke: Rather, I’d like to sketch Mementos if possible.
Yusuke: I would like to make it the focus of my next art piece.
Ren: So why am I coming?
Yusuke: Just for backup, if need be.
Yusuke: While we aren’t going in fully, I imagine shadows might pop up.
Ren: Yeah, that makes sense.
Yusuke: Plus, it gives us a chance to get to know each other better.
Ren: Right.
Ren: Let’s go!
Yusuke: Hold on, where are we meeting?
Ren: The usual spot, I guess.
Yusuke: Very well.
Ren and Yusuke met up and headed into Mementos.
They didn’t venture terribly far before Yusuke found a good place to begin his sketchwork. Ren began her patrol. “So,” Yusuke started asking, “how does this ‘teasing’ work?” Ren seemed confused. “I find it better to work when something else is occupying my time. Besides, one of the reasons I asked you was so that we can get to know each other better.”
“Right,” Ren said, somewhat awkwardly. “So, you wanna know about teasing?”
“Yes,” Yusuke said.
Ren was stunned. “Basically, it’s just saying things in a jokey, lighthearted tone to get a reaction.”
“Why do you do that?” Yusuke asked bluntly.
Ren continued to be stunned. She didn’t know how to react to someone with Yusuke’s disposition. So, she decided to remain honest. “Well, part of it is it’s fun, but mainly it acts as a barrier. A wall. A mask.”
“Hm,” Yusuke said. “I thought we were supposed to be getting closer.”
“We are,” Ren said. “I don’t do it all the time. Even now, I’m opening up to you.”
“Right, but why do it at all?” Yusuke pondered.
Ren paused for a moment. Any attempt at obfuscation would be met with more of Yusuke’s personal brand of blindness. In a way, it made a better wrecking ball than any aggressive attempt to break her. She sighed. “Well, you know I’m not from Tokyo originally.”
“Right” Yusuke answered.
“Back in my hometown, I wasn’t all too well liked,” Ren explained. “So, I put up these walls because I’m afraid. I’m afraid the next person I run into will hate me outright simply for just existing. If I pretend not to care, then maybe they won’t. And maybe I won’t either.”
“Huh,” Yusuke said. “I think I understand.”
“You do?” Ren asked.
Yusuke nodded. “There were plenty of times when I lived with Madarame where all I wanted to do was cry, or scream, or get upset, but I eventually grew to know that that would only make things worse.”
Ren was shocked. “Jeez. When you put it like that, my problems seem a little more trivial.”
“Ah, rest assured, I wasn’t trying to trivialize your problems,” Yusuke said.
“...Thanks?” Ren responded.
“Rather, I was trying to hearken back to our delicious hot pot celebration,” Yusuke explained. “Everyone was sharing their views on the world, and how that they’re all askew from the typical outlook. But in that askewed view, we found each other, and more importantly, we can save each other, and everyone else.”
Ren was once again stunned, but not out of confusion this time. Rather, she was impressed. She chuckled. “Thanks.” She looked at Yusuke’s sketch. “Um, if you don’t mind, why do you sketch?”
“It’s to get a reference so I can focus and take my time on the finished product” Yusuke answered.
“Right,” Ren said, running right back into Yusuke’s wit. “I mean, when Kosuke made that painting for me, he just took a picture.” Ren took out her phone. “Although I’m assuming our phones don’t function here. Which I guess is a net positive. If someone saw real evidence of all of this, it would cause problems.”
“Ah,” Yusuke said. “Well, that’s just a matter of personal preference. A lot of artists like sketching because it gives a sense of how they work with it right away. Kosuke even sketched a lot, but I’m assuming that this was more of a spur-of-the-moment kind of thing, rather than a big plan.”
“Yeah,” Ren said.
Yusuke stopped, took a look at what he had, and said “Alright, I’m finished.” Just then, a bunch of shadows showed up. “What impeccable timing. Joker! Let’s vanquish these foes together!” Ren nodded, and the two fought the shadows. It was an easy victory. “Boy, these shadows do not know how to pick a fight they can win.” He noticed something. “What’s this? It looks like one of those cards we’ve been picking up.”
“You’re right” Ren said, getting a good look at it. “This one’s blank though.”
“Right,” Yusuke said. “Maybe if I…” Yusuke drew on it. “Ah! It became real.”
“Wow” Ren said.
Yusuke thought about this. “Perhaps the fact that this is a world based on what one perceives, maybe by drawing on it, it gives it real power.”
“That makes sense,” Ren said. “If I find any more, I can give them to you. It works out for us, plus I assume this’ll be a nice way of keeping your sketching skills up.”
“Hm. A real Theo now, aren’t we?” Yusuke said.
“Um, that’s not my name…” Ren said.
“Ah. I should explain” Yusuke said. “When I say ‘Theo’ I am referring to Theo Van Gogh, the brother of Vincent. Vincent didn’t achieve fame in his lifetime, but found a supporter in his brother.”
“I see,” Ren said, impressed. “Well, if you ever need help with your art stuff, or anything in general, then I’ll be happy to be your Theo.”
“Thank you,” Yusuke said.

“We should get going before any more shadows show up,” Yusuke said. Ren nodded, and the two quickly left Mementos.
Later that evening, Ren headed over to Untouchable to stock up. “Hey kid,” Iwai said, literally a split second after she walked in. “What impeccable timing.”
“I take it something happened?” Ren inquired.
“Well, something’s about to,” Iwai stated. “I’ve told you about Tsuda.”
“He’s the one you didn’t meet in the diner?” Ren asked, just to get her facts straight.
Iwai nodded. “He called me to set up a meeting soon.”
Ren was concerned. “Is that a good thing?”
Iwai grunted. “I doubt it, based on what we heard at the diner. Besides, out of everyone in the clan, Tsuda and I were the closest. We were practically inseparable. I know him like I know the back of my hand, and I know he’s up to something.”
“So, what happened when you, well, separated?” Ren asked.
Iwai smirked. “I asked him to come along too to be like an uncle to Kaoru, but he refused. He did help smooth things over with the higher ups though.” Ren chuckled slightly. “Hm. Anyways, let’s get back to business. I’d like to see what he’s up to, but the problem is Tsuda knows me just as well, so I can’t collect any information from my usual sources without tipping my hand.”
Ren smiled. “This is where I come in.”
“Sharp” Iwai complemented. “Tsuda knows ME quite well, but he has no idea about you. You’re my wild card.”
“They don’t call me ‘Joker’ for nothing” Ren said, a bit too excited.
“What?”
“What?”
Iwai was still confused, but decided to let it go. “Anyway, I just need you to ask around about anything big Tsuda’s done recently. “ He took out a piece of paper. “He’s a list of people who might be in the know; their general description, as well as where they’re likely to hang out. Can you investigate to see if you can find anything?”
Ren was a bit put off, because the last time she went investigating about a mobster, a former police officer got brainwashed into enacting murderous justice as his favorite superhero. Well, that’s not gonna happen twice in a row. Ren grabbed the list.
“Thanks kid,” Iwai said. “I’ll be here. You know my number. If anything happens, don’t hesitate to call, and if you get into REAL trouble, put me on speaker.” Ren nodded and headed out.
Ren searched around and found a scruffy looking guy hanging about. He matched one of the descriptions, so she approached him. “What do ya want?” he said, slightly angry at her approach.
Ren remained brave. “I’m looking for information on Tsuda.”
“Tsuda?” the guy said. “Who put you up to this?”
“That’s on a need to know basis” Ren said.
The man was curious, but concerned. “You with the cops?”
“Please,” Ren said. “I don’t trust the cops farther than I can throw them.”
The man laughed. “That's REAL disdain in your voice. Alright. You didn’t hear this from me, but apparently at the beginning of the year he struck a deal with the Hong Kong mafia for about 100 million yen.”
“Oh my” Ren said.
“That’s all I know,” the man said.
Ren nodded. “Thanks.” She took out some money. “For your efforts.”
“Heh. Keep it” the man said. “I’m a lost cause. You look like you can still climb out of whatever hole you’re in.” Ren was surprised, but walked off, nodding in appreciation.
Once she got back, she saw Iwai was on the phone. “Uh huh...yeah...of course...seeya then.” He hung up. He took notice of her. “Ah, you’re back. Find anything?”
“Something about a deal with the Hong Kong mafia worth 100 million yen at the beginning of the year,” Ren answered.
“I see,” Iwai said. “Say, did you have to pay for that? Cause I’ll reimburse you.”
Ren shook her head. “I tried, but he told me to keep it.”
“Woah, you talked to HIM?” Iwai said, surprised. “How’d you get him to talk to you?”
“He said I had ‘real disdain’ in my voice,” Ren explained.
“Makes sense” Iwai rationalized. “You told me you were arrested. I doubt that leaves much room in your heart for liking the police.” Ren shook her head. “Anyways, that was Tsuda on the phone. He just finalized the date of our meeting. So, maybe it’d be a good idea to not come around here too often for extended periods of time.”
Ren smiled. “Well then, mind if I do all of my shopping now?”
“Knock yourself out,” Iwai said. “But not really though. While they aren’t real weapons, they’re still kind of heavy.” Ren giggled. Ren proceeded to make her purchases. After Ren finished shopping, Iwai sighed. “Tell me, do you fear the unknown?”
Ren was alerted. “Where is this coming from?”
“It’s just,” Iwai sighed again, “I’ve known Tsuda for a while now. But ever since I left the mafia, we’ve grown apart you know. I’m just worried that the man I’m going to talk to won’t be the same.”
Ren could sense his tension, and decided to be honest. “Well, sorry, but you’ve asked the wrong girl for advice on this.” Iwai looked at her, surprised. “Aside from people I’ve met in Tokyo, I would LOVE to meet someone I’ve known for a while and not recognize them.”
Iwai got a laugh out of that. “I’ve been there before. That’s part of why I joined up in the first place. But then the whole thing with Kaoru happened, and I decided that he needed an honest shot. And if no one else was going to give it to him, I might as well try.”
He looked over Ren “Sounds like Tokyo is giving you an honest shot too. If you want my advice, figure out what’s really important before it’s too late. Once you know what that is, don’t let go.”
“How will I know what that is?” Ren asked.
“Heh” Iwai chuckled. “From what I’ve seen, you’re a smart kid. I’m sure you have something of an answer already. I’m just saying this to help you think some more.” Ren chuckled back. “Anyway, once I’ve had my meeting with Tsuda, I’ll message you, or something. Oh, and thanks for the info.”

Ren nodded, and left without saying anything else.
