So for the request i was wondering maybe like dabi with really really beautiful and kind s.o, like people always start with her or text her and harass her but she loves him from the bottom of her heart and comforts him , he bascially gets really jealous and they fight in an alley way and a few villains who are after dabi see them fighting and decide to try to attack her infront of him, he toasts them but he is scared that now his s.o hates him and think hes cruel only for them to hold him and tell him nomatter what he does she will follow him to the depths of hell itself if it means she gets to be with him

Jealousy is an ugly thing. It sticks to him like syrup and sets itself firmly in place. The alleyway smells musty, like mold clinging to the drywall of a place he once lived and he can only give you a sharp humorless laugh that makes you give him a pointed stare. You are everything he is not. You are good, you are free from the lasting sin that settles deep within him, something that he is sure he was born with. You are desired and wanted, and yet you stick with someone who is broken and stapled together. He wants to leave you here alone, to have you go home alone and never contact him again. He wants to be free from the kindness that you give to him, the caring stares and holds that you reserve from him as if he were an injured animal, feral and ready to strike, untrusting and unwanted.

“Dabi,” you tell him with a stern voice, brows knitted together and he already has his back turned to you. “Dabi, come on.” Your hand touches his and he’s quick to yank it away. He can hear you gasp and he hates the sick feeling in his chest. “You promised you would walk me home.” Your voice sounds so small and he can feel heat pool in his hands.

He sucks in a deep breath through his nose and he turns his head, raising a brow. “We’re close enough-” he turns to fully face you, gravel crinkling under his boot- “you can make it the rest of the way.” He jerks his head and he rolls his eyes at your pointed look. “Trust me, you’ll be okay.” He continues to look at you, offering no hint of an apology or that he’s joking.

You scoff and shake your head. He can already hear the venom in your voice and you shuffle in your place, crossing your arms. “You’re being immature about all of this, you know.” His jaw itches, and he rubs the pad of his finger over the scarred tissue but it isn’t enough. “I don’t know what I did to piss you off but this is getting old, you know?” He can already hear the resentment in your voice and it’s starting to get tiring. His lids lower and he stares at you with an almost bored expression. “You can’t just shut down every other day. This-” you gesture between the two of you and all he can do is scratch the back of his head- “isn’t some game that you can just care whenever you want to.” You take a step closer to him and he takes one back.

He really doesn’t want to be here right now. He wants to go home and lay in bed. He wishes he never opened his mouth. You continue to talk and it’s just mumbled in his head. He hates everything about tonight. His skin aches and he feels gross and sweaty, he’s standing in the open and you’re in front of him scolding him like a parent. Bile rises in his throat and he’s so tempted to turn around and walk away, to leave you here and have you figure it out. He wants to hear you cry to him the next day so he can make it up with some half-assed apology and hug. He just needs to leave. Somewhere in the distance, gravel is crushed underneath and you stop talking. You both look at each other and turn around and Dabi hates the day more and more. He raises a brow at the four figures who approach from seemingly nowhere.

“Dabi, right?” The one who speaks is tall and lanky, limbs that seem to stretch longer than average and eyes that droop. He doesn’t respond and he can see the way your shoulders tense. “Come on, there’s no reason to be so cold.” His smile stretches and his fingers dance in the air as he waves a hand dismissively. “I’ll keep it short, hm?” He doesn’t wait for a response and instead continues to walk towards the both of you. You keep yourself in front of Dabi, still and cautious. “Oh? I didn’t know you had a special someone. It’s uh- it’s funny. I did too. Well, we all did.” The man gestures to the people behind him, one stocky with minerals that coat his skin, the other almost transparent with a mouth kept shut and black sclera, and one with almost reflective with sharp, jagged pieces that just out from their joints. “You see-”

“Leave.” Dabi’s voice cuts through the monologue of the man. He isn’t in the mood for it right now. He wants the group to leave. Whatever their issue is, is best left alone. You still haven’t moved from your spot.

“Come on, there’s no reason to be so disrespectful. You’re out with your partner so I understand that you want some time alone with them but you know. If you’re going to treat them so roughly-” the group takes steps forward, reflective material shining from the stray street lamps that light up the night- “then perhaps we should just take them home.”

Dabi’s upper lip curls in disgust and his body tenses. “You’ve talked for long enough.” His arm raises and heat pools deep in his arm. But just as blue starts to lick at his palms, long, stretchy arms wrap around you and you’re pulled away from him and into the group of strangers. His eyes widen ever so slightly, and he lowers his hand, an unsettling feeling settling in his chest. “What do you want?”

You wrapped tight with rubber arms around your body and he can see they way your legs tremble and he’s sure that if you weren’t being held, you would have fallen to your knees by now. You look back at him with a scared expression, eyes wide and bottom lip trembling, and he can see his name mouthed by you. He looks away from you and forces his attention towards the presumed leader of the small group.

The man who holds you now has a twisted smile decorating his face. “You see, a while back you burned a couple-”

“I’m not here for your life story.” Dabi holds his hand in the air again. “So hurry up and let them go.” He glowers at the individual who still holds you and his eyes meet yours. He calls your name, you furrow your brows and when he gives you a curt nod, you nod rapidly. Your mouth opens and you immediately bite on the arm that holds you, teeth piercing down and cutting down the rubber, and the arm uncoils and snaps back to its default length, a hand grasping at the wound, while curses fill the dark alleyway. “Get down.”

You run until you’re against the side of the building, and immediately crouch, hands covering the top of your head and face hidden. The men look at you and back to Dabi and there is a fear in their eyes, pleas that start and hands that raise in surrender. Immediately, blue and heat fills the small space, flames that burst out of his hand and encasing the four people. His arm starts to sting, a slight pinch that starts biting in different areas to spreading and consuming his arm in an unbearable pain that feels as if he is being set on fire from inside. Blood seeps between his staples and his hand lowers, steam rising from him and the smell of burnt flesh filling the alley way. He stares at a bundle of charred remains, limbs stretched and faces morphed into a horrific nature, eyes white and black, bloated and exposed, staring into the sky above where a plane drones overhead.

“Dabi?” Your voice is muffled, hidden between your legs and chest. “Are you okay?” He looks over at you, and he sighs. “Dabi, please answer.” Your voice comes out shaky and there’s a crack in it, your hands clench and your hand knits into your hair, muscles tense and you jerk randomly.

His steps are quiet, the bones creak from the deceased and he gives a mere glance towards the pile, watching you as you slowly twitch from your position. He stands in front of you and he wonders if you can smell the burnt flesh from him. You’re shaking, huffed breathing that escapes your lips and he frowns. His hand reaches out to grab at a wrist but he hesitates and lets his hand hover over you. Heat emanates from him and warms your skin and the smell of death is increasing, filling his lungs with something foul and smoke. He pulls his hand away from you and clenches it into a fist.

He calls your name in a soft whisper only to clear his throat and call it out louder. “They’re dead.” there’s no use beating around the bush. He just wants to go home now. “You can get up now.” The smell never grows old and a warm trickle of blood curves over open scars on his arm.

You rise shakily, spreading out and when you look back at him, tears have stained your face. You watch him and he can only stare at you with a blank expression. You knew who he was, what he’s done, the crimes that he’s committed but you have never witnessed it first hand until now. Your hands press into the filthy floor and he worries that you’ll get cut. You push yourself up and he stares at you, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he swallows the acid and saliva that has pooled in his mouth. His mouth opens and he’s ready to call it off before you have a chance to.

“Are you okay?” His eyes widen. “Your- I know that you get hurt by your flames and I-” your eyes dart to his arm and your shoulders jump- “you’re bleeding,” you whine, hands reaching out towards him and grabbing his hand, your other hand grabs his under arm, pulling it close to you. “Does it hurt?” You lean forward and hesitate, only to look up at him and lower your head, your lips kissing at the scar that has reopened, and when you pull back, blood has smeared across your lips in a lipstick mark that makes his throat close.

You aren’t disgusted by him. You don’t run away and you stay close to him, holding his arm tenderly, his blood on your lips and his hands held tightly. Perhaps you just haven’t realized how monstrous he is, the disgrace of a person that he truly is must not have been realized as of yet. You hold him like an injured man rather than a murderer of people. People that he never knew of. People who held you and the underlying of a threat thick in their words all because of him. You hold him as if he is the victim, caressing him and your arms around him in a tight hug and he’s slow to return it, his head held high with a steely look as blood coats your shirt and he’s sorry.

“Can we go home now?” You ask in a small voice, hands clutching the jacket into fistfuls.

“You still want me to walk you home?” You still want him around you? You still trust him to step foot inside your home and lay beside you? It has to be a trick. Something so wicked that you would have picked up from him. His hands tighten around you and his muscle tense, blood leaking out and it’s warm.

“Please?” You ask in a soft beg, stepping closer to him. “I don’t- I don’t want to be alone.” And you trust him to be with you? You trust a man who murdered people in front of you to keep you safe?

“Why?” Second to everything, the afterthought to society and people. Only first in what a failure he is, in the body count that he holds, the shame embedded deep within him. But he is still a person, still yearning for the warm embrace of another, still desperate for the validation that he will never receive.

He feels you tense around him. The staples in his abdomen are pressed deeper into him and the pain, once sharp and agonizing, has now grown accustomed to a dull pain. “Because I want you to be with me.” Your voice is tight and he hates the sudden urge to press you closer, but he does so anyways. “Dabi, I- This was a scary situation but you protected me still. You waited until I was out of the way and I- Dabi you have to know that by now, I’d follow you wherever you go. I’d walk into the depths of hell, flames and all, if it meant that you would be with me.” Your voice cracks and he’s sure that his blood has now stained all of your back and the blood on your lips has dried.

The smell of the bodies lingers, thick in the air, blue that still crackles against charred flesh. It’s filthy here, his body burns and aches, you cling to him as if he might disappear, pulling him close to you and mumbling how you want him to come home with you, how you need him to be with you. You concealed your feelings with different words, told him you’d stick by him if that’s what he would wish for. You’d walk into hell and in the alleyway, you’ve already entered the domain, the screams that still echo against the walls, the sirens that sound far away and he smiles down at you, pressing a quick kiss to the top of your head, smoke lingering against your hair and he pulls away, grasping your hand and leading you away from the fire that has begun to die down, fading into sparks and disappearing into the night. He wants to keep you close, to keep his body against yours, to make you follow through your promise and stick close to him, to never let you go and have your touch given to him freely, wanted and desired, hands that will trail his body and lips that will kiss his and remind him how he is yours till the pain in his wounds and flames make him combust.

5 underrated Richard Donner movies you need to see

Richard Donner will forever be remembered as the filmmaker who created the blueprint for the modern superhero blockbuster with 1978’s Superman starring Christopher Reeve.

Yet that doesn’t tell even half the story of the Bronx-born filmmaker’s brilliant filmography.

Donner was in his late 40s by the time Superman came along, having made a name for himself in Hollywood two years earlier, with 1976’s suitably terrifying The Omen.

Prior to that, he was a budding director making the transition from the small screen to the world of cinema. Donner worked on everything from Gilligan’s Island to The Twilight Zone. Even then, it was clear he was destined for bigger things though, as anyone who saw “Nightmare at 20,000 Feet”, the iconic episode of The Twilight Zone he directed, starring William Shatner, can attest.

While a disagreement with producers ultimately saw him walk away from Superman II, the 1980s saw Donner establish himself as an incredibly versatile big budget director capable of handling everything from the epic family adventure fun of The Goonies to the balancing act of action and comedy found within the buddy cop antics of Lethal Weapon.

It was a skillset that drew admiration from the very best in the movie industry, including Steven Spielberg who was among the first to pay tribute to Donner after learning he had passed away, aged 91.

“Dick had such a powerful command of his movies, and was so gifted across so many genres,” Spielberg, who worked with Donner on The Goonies, said.

“Being in his circle was akin to hanging out with your favourite coach, smartest professor, fiercest motivator, most endearing friend, staunchest ally, and – of course – the greatest Goonie of all.”

Donner may not have had the same impact in the 1990s and early 2000s but he still enjoyed major success with the Lethal Weapon franchise and as a producer with movies like Free Willy and X-Men.

More importantly, the other films he made during that period and in the years between some of his biggest hits remain well worth revisiting or seeking out for the first time – starting with these five.

Ladyhawke

Coming hot on the heels of The Goonies and two years prior to Lethal Weapon, Ladyhawke represented another major departure for Donner. A dark medieval fantasy, it centred on Rutger Hauer’s mysterious Captain Etienne Navarre and his female companion Lady Isabeau (Michelle Pfeiffer), a pair of star-crossed lovers on the run from a vengeful bishop who has placed a demonic curse on their heads. While Navarre transforms into a wolf by night, Isabeau exists as a Hawk by day. Teaming up with petty thief Philippe Gaston (Matthew Broderick) they embark on a quest to overthrow the evil bishop and break the spell.

Something of a passion project, Donner had attempted to get Ladyhawke off the ground several times before finally getting the green light from Warner Bros and 20th Century Fox in the mid ’80s. The film then suffered another setback when Kurt Russell, originally cast as Navarre, dropped out during rehearsals.

That ultimately proved a blessing in disguise with Hauer going on to deliver arguably his best performance since Blade Runner. Not everything about Ladyhawke works – Broderick’s character feels a little too close to Ferris Bueller while the runtime could be trimmed down – but it remains a beautifully realised fantasy epic, full of memorable action set pieces, stunning cinematography and a spellbinding turn from Pfeiffer.

A box office bomb upon release, Ladyhawke has stood the test of time too, garnering a cult following as an authentic and fresh take on the sword and sorcery formula.

Maverick

Maverick is the film Will Smith must have hoped Wild Wild West would be; a funny, clever action comedy based on a classic TV show. Coming in an era when most westerns were deadly serious, Donner’s film also felt like a breath of fresh air and benefited hugely from a masterful William Goldman script that was both witty and unpredictable.

The latest in a series of films featuring Donner’s muse-of-sorts, Mel Gibson, this time out Mel plays Bret Maverick, a brilliant card player and equally impressive con artist trying to collect enough money to earn a seat at a high-stakes poker game. Along the way he is forced to contend with a fellow scammer in the form of Jodie Foster’s Annabelle Bransford as well as lawman Marshal Zane Cooper, played by James Garner, who starred in the original TV series.

While the glut of cameos from country music stars and the likes of Danny Glover can be a little distracting, there’s something wonderfully charming about Maverick with Gibson, Foster and Garner all on top form and boasting an undeniable chemistry that helps keep things entertaining.

The climactic poker game which sees Maverick face off against Alfred Molina’s psychopathic Angel is also expertly handled by Donner, who cranks up the tension as Maverick reveals his final, decisive, hand with a slow-motion toss of the final card towards the camera. A critical and financial success, Maverick has been largely lost in the shuffle since its release but should be sought out.

Conspiracy Theory

There’s something strangely prescient about Conspiracy Theory given the current predilection for such thinking on the internet at large. One of Donner’s most inventive and intelligent outings alongside Gibson, this time out Mel plays Jerry Fletcher, a New York City cab driver with a penchant for paranoid conspiracy theories.

Jerry’s life takes a turn for the strange when he finds himself being targeted by a set of shady government goons led by Patrick Stewart’s Dr Jonas. He quickly realises one of the conspiracies he has been promoting in his weekly newsletter (this was the ‘90s) is based more in reality than he thought. The question is: which one?

An engrossing thriller featuring Donner’s trademark dashes of witty humour, Conspiracy Theory is bolstered significantly by the presence of the ever-reliable Julia Roberts as a government lawyer with a soft spot for Jerry. Despite a lengthy run time, Donner also keeps the action moving along at an engaging pace while Gibson’s performance is just the right side of manic to keep you rooting for him.

A first foray into the kind of deep state conspiracy thrillers that were commonplace in Hollywood at the time, the film also boasts some genuinely striking moments, not least the sequence where Jerry undergoes “psychotic testing” at the hands of Dr Jonas, which wouldn’t have looked out of place in A Clockwork Orange.

Though it was a hit with audiences, Conspiracy Theory earned mixed reviews but appears increasingly worthy of reappraisal.

Timeline

Some movies are big, dumb but lots of fun. Timeline sits firmly in that category despite what many naysayers would have you believe. It’s a brash, simplistic sci-fi flick to rival the likes of The Core and Geostorm and thoroughly entertaining to boot.

The fact that it features Gerard Butler, as well as the late, great, Paul Walker only adds to that sentiment.

Walker plays Chris Johnston who, along with Butler’s Andre Marek and a team of fellow archaeologists travel back in time through a wormhole to 14th century France to rescue their professor, Dr Edward Johnston (Billy Connolly), who just happens to be Walker’s character’s dad too.

Based on a book by Michael Crichton, Donner had been in the running to direct Jurassic Park a decade earlier and jumped at the chance to adapt Timeline for the big screen. While filming went off without a hitch, Donner repeatedly clashed with Paramount Pictures in post-production and was forced to re-cut the film three times in a development that saw the release date pushed by nearly a year. The resulting edit did not sit well with Crichton either, who disliked it so intensely he stopped licensing his work for a few years after.

Whether Donner’s original cut would have earned better reviews or Crichton’s approval remains to be seen but what remains of Timeline is still a well shot, enjoyable sci-fi yarn with some neat medieval action flourishes.

16 Blocks

Donner’s final film also ranks among his most unappreciated. On the surface, 16 Blocks sounds like the perfect fodder for a game of buddy cop movie bingo.

It stars Bruce Willis as Jack Mosley, a worn-out NYPD Detective with a drinking problem tasked with transporting Mos Def’s trial witness Eddie Bunker to court. Problems arise when some of Jack’s fellow officers arrive to kill Eddie and prevent him from testifying. Eager for redemption, Jack decides to take the would-be assassins on and get Eddie to court on time.

A formulaic enough premise, 16 Blocks is emboldened by the fact it plays out in real-time with Eddie required at the courthouse by no later than 10am. In this sense, Donner found himself in new territory with an action thriller that thrives on a unique sense of urgency.

While the filmmaker is no stranger to the action formula, this setup sees him imbue events with a renewed sense of chaos, as Jack and Eddie fight their way through armed adversaries, busy crowds and bustling traffic, all against a cacophony of shouts, car horns and gun blasts.

Ostensibly a chase movie on foot rather than four wheels, the action traverses 16 blocks in 118 minutes and rarely lets up for a second with Donner proving a dab hand at balancing the action with the engaging back-and-forth between Willis and Def who are both understated yet effective throughout.

Throw in the ever-watchable David Morse as the leader of the shady cops baying for Eddie’s blood and you have arguably one of the most underrated action thrillers of the early 2000s

eye makeup q: apologies if you've already posted abt this, but how do you get that smeary/greasy lid effect? it always looks sooooo dope!

ofc!! so there are def a couple ways to get there. you can buy products specifically for that purpose, and i DO have a black cream product from rituel de fille that i use for it sometimes, but you can also go with one of these techniques and see which one you prefer

you could basically only use a very emollient sort of greasy eye pencil — any shadow stick or eyeliner that doesn’t set/isn’t waterproof will work. i have personally used the nyx jumbo stick in the black shade for it but you could use any cheap liner. just nothing that says like, long wear or waterproof. and just fill in yr whole eyeball region with it. if you give it a little time it should crease itself naturally. i like to add the same color eyeshadow over it cuz it makes it more opaque where i want it to stay dark. but if you have dry eyelids that might keep it from creasing the way you want it to. just blend out the edges with a stiffer blending brush and give it a minute and it’ll Go.

OR you could just start with whatever color eyeshadow and then go on top of it with clear unscented plain lip gloss or lip balm. you could probably use colored lip gloss as well. just put some on your finger and dab it on over the shadow. this is probably a better bet if you have dryer lids or generally don’t have lids that tend to crease because of yr anatomy. just go light handed cuz if you put on too much yr lids get sticky.

if u want a product specifically for that look, there are eye glosses available from a lot of brands. the rituel de fille cream i have is really stunning but it’s really expensive because they’re a high end indie brand so i don’t necessarily recommend it?? if you have the budget you won’t regret splurging but also you can very much get the same look with a $3 nyx pencil or a $5 colourpop cream color pot or even those dirt cheap red maybelline pencil eyeliners that are really easy to find. elf or aoa probably have something that’s $1. or just use plain chapstick you probably already have. i imagine you could use cream blushes for it also but im not a cream face product kinda gal cuz im oily so i haven’t tried it myself.

something rotten highlights

i saw this show a while ago but i never properly gushed about it so here it is!

- there was a crank in front of the opening screen and during welcome to the rennaisance two of the extras were singing and cranking it to pull the screen up

- the black death was SO FUCKING FUNNY they had extras dressed as the grim reaper and a whole choreographed death scene

- at the end of the song nick tells them to cut it out and one of the extras just goes “but i thought i was a good grim reaper!”

- nigel is so extra i swear every time he got passionate about something he’d do these huge swooping hand motions i love him

- bea was AMAZING

- halfway through right hand man nick tells nigel to eat his cabbage and he gets so defensive. he literally spins 180 degrees in his chair

- “DID YOU TOUCH THE MONEY BOX”

- nick and bea were making out and then bea just shoves him off her and starts dressing in her Masculine Clothes™️

- instead of falling straight onto the bed nigel folds his coat to use as a pillow and then does that thing dogs do where they spin around while trying to get comfortable

- the alleyway set was SO COOL

- “my name is thomas” “...thomas nostradamus?” “i promise!”

- thomas tells nick to “look out for the sign of the black dog” and nick is like “yeah ok this isnt happening” but then he almost gets hit in the face by the sign for a pub called “the black dog”

- there was literally about 2 minutes of nonstop applause after “a musical” and once it had finally died down nick was like “but are you sure this’ll work?”

- portia is so innocent ahh

- nigel stored his journal in the front pocket of his pants and whenever he would reach for it at all portia would cover her eyes and go “ooooohhhhh”

- portia and nigel’s hug at the end of “i love the way” was so blessed

- bea is a queen oml

- nick told bea that carrying planks was “a man’s job” so she threw the plank at him and he fell over

- shakespeare dabbed

- drunk portia was adorable she was def a silly drunk

- everything brother jeremiah said was an innuendo it was incredible

- “ham... ham.... HAM SOMETHING!” “i bet it’s ham omelette!”

- in nick’s fantasy nigel had a fancy cape and a feather cap and he seemed so happy with himself

- when nick challenges shakespeare he literally just throws off his boot covers so dramatically to reveal tap shoes

- at the end of bottom’s gonna be on top nick was standing on a box and he just shouts “HEY, I LIKE IT UP HERE”

- instead of the whole “where is it, what is it, what is it, where is it, whfjgjGHSJGLD” shakespeare just started glaring at his quill and going “tell me. tell me. wHAT IS it”

- the staging for shakespeare changing costumes into toby belch was so fluid

- i really wonder how many fake frying pans they had to get just to stage “it’s eggs”

- “A STAGE FULL OF SINGING CATS”

- at the end of “we see the light” the people had nigel and portia standing on podiums and they were dancing it was adorable

- nigel looked so heartbroken when brother jeremiah took portia away :’(

- they took out the arguing from “to thine own self” which was a little disappointing

- shakespeare tried to take nigel’s ENTIRE BAG while he was busy

- shakespeare is such a dick. problematic fav

- right hand man (reprise) was really nice

- you could tell bea was trying super hard just to make nigel laugh

- “shall i compare thee to a horse’s ass?”

- during “something rotten!” nick almost threw the egg and i got legitimate anxiety from it

- the dance from “make an omelette” was so iconic

- bea’s argument in court was literally “beheading him is redundant cause he’s already lost his head” and everybody was just like “yeah ok”

- brother jeremiah accused bea of being a homosexual and she just stripped off her suit and started making out with nick and jeremiah just started screaming

- during “to thine own self (reprise)” nick holds out his arms for a hug and nigel literally jumps into his arms. you could actually see him crying

- nick looked so angry when he read the announcement about hamlet

- portia’s little dance when she said “instead we just got banished-ed!”? highly blessed

- i heard like 5 people whisper “awww” when nick and nigel entered to tell the story of the two brothers from cornwall

- shylock finally got a job as a producer it was so good

- nick shouts “LAND OF OPPORTUNITY!” and then freezes with his fist in the air, truly one of the best stage pictures of all time

- tl;dr: nigel and portia were precious, shakespeare is a dick, and i want bea to step on me

"BamBam, I brought Youngjae-hyung!"

"Oh! Gyeomie!" BamBam, who was wearing a cheetah print shirt and tight red pants greeted the two. Once the front door opened, the music coming from the speakers became louder. Youngjae winced slightly as he stepped indoors, taking off his shoes. He looked around the living room and was relieved to see only four or five other people walking around or sitting on the floor.

Youngjae had no idea who the other people were. They were probably in BamBam’s group of 'cool' partygoers, judging from how they talked quietly and even some were still wearing sunglasses indoors. Someone sitting on the couch with his legs crossed waved his hand at Youngjae, although he couldn't tell who it was because of the sunglasses.

"Wow...! Hyung, look at all this food!" Yugyeom suddenly called out from the dining table, staring at the various bowls of food in admiration. He stuffed some popcorn into his mouth and gestured for Youngjae to hurry and come over.

"This sure is a lot," Youngjae breathed out, holding onto his elbow.

"Aren't you going to have some?"

"...No, i—" Youngjae started, but the words written on the note popped up in his head.

more than happy to see you eat.

Youngjae grabbed a plastic cup and filled it with jelly beans. He picked up a pink-colored one and threw it in his mouth, his cheeks turning into the same pink hue as the candy. It had been a while since he'd eaten any sort of sweets.

Too bad he didn't realize Im Jaebum was watching him from the crowd, sighing over his cuteness.

"Hyung, hyung, come meet these guys!" BamBam ushered Youngjae to the living room where three others were sitting on the couch, seeming much older than the both of them.

"This is Rap Mon, Def Soul, and S.Coups," BamBam named one-by-one as he pointed to the corresponding person sitting on the couch. Youngjae looked at the three and then back at his friend as though he was crazy. He did just name extremely odd titles for each of them, after all. "They're just artist names. They don't want me to reveal their real names apparently."

"Hey."

"Hi."

Each one of them sat in a way that made Youngjae feel intimidated and want to sink into the carpet beneath him. The one that caught his attention the most was the guy in the middle, apparently known as 'Def Soul.' He was wearing sunglasses for whatever reason and had at least six piercings in his ears. curling his lips into an unexpectedly friendly smile, 'Def Soul' waved his hand to Youngjae. He hesitantly waved back and also bowed his head politely.

"Yugyeomie, can you turn the music down a bit?" BamBam asked. Diligently, the tall maknae went over to the speakers and turned the volume down. Youngjae sat on the carpet while hugging his knees, being sure to be close to Yugyeom who had returned from his trip to the speakers.

"Hey Def Soul, this is your jam, isn't it?" Rap Mon snickered while elbowing his friend. tThe song playing was “Touch My Body” by Sistar, and S.Coups laughed loudly while clapping his hands. As someone who was considered the master of girl group dances, BamBam immediately stood up and started over-exaggeratedly dancing to it.

Def Soul eventually sang to the song despite seeming to regret every second of it. What surprised Youngjae the most was how amazing his singing voice is. The rather high pitched tone was such a gap from his deeper voice when talking, and Youngjae felt that was strangely attractive.

"God, BamBam. Why are your legs the same size as my arms?" S.Coups said with a groan while watching him dance and wiggle his legs around. Everyone in the room sort of groaned, too, probably thinking the exact same thing.

"What are your secrets? I want to be less fat than I already am," he remarked while rolling his eyes, taking ahold of his own thigh and visually comparing with BamBam's sticks. Youngjae's grasp around his knees tightened uncomfortably as he stared at his own legs.

Fat?

Suddenly, his head was feeling dizzy. He had just remembered something unpleasant whispered to him—

"Choi Youngjae, you still have baby fat from primary school?"

"You fat manchild."

"No one likes fat kids like you."

Knocking over the cup of jelly beans, Youngjae made a run for it to the bathroom. Both BamBam and Yugyeom looked confused, the taller deciding to follow him. The bathroom door was locked shut by the time he caught up to Youngjae.

"Youngjae-hyung?" Yugyeom knocked on the door. "Are you okay? Do you have an emergency?"

"Go away," Youngjae replied, his voice muffled presumably because he was hiding his face. He didn't want to hear any of his friends take pity on him. He wanted to lay on the cold bathroom floor until the next morning.

From behind the door, he could hear someone else's footsteps and whispers that he couldn’t understand properly. One of them left, and Youngjae shut his eyes, believing it was BamBam here to persuade him out the bathroom.

But it wasn't?

"Hey," an unexpectedly low voice called out from the other side of the door, causing Youngjae to look up in alert. His breathing became a bit heavier in embarrassment, realizing that it was one of those guys with artist names. Meanwhile, Jaebum was leaning against the door with his arms crossed over his chest.

"I'm glad to see that you finally ate."

Youngjae's eyes widened when hearing so. The note he received that day at school appeared in his mind again; it mentioned how the writer might see him at BamBam's party. Was that the person who would always notice and care about how he was doing during lunch? He wanted to burst the door open and finally find out who the culprit was, but his legs were numb. Hootsteps headed away from the bathroom, indicating that person was already leaving.

It took another minute for Youngjae to finally muster up his courage to come out of his hiding spot. He looked horrible, with his nose tinted red and his eyes dark as if from lack of sleep. Once he was back in the living room, he could see that everyone was still sitting in their original positions. He had no idea who the person was. He could simply ask, but he found that to be embarrassing for himself.

"Hyung, are you alright? Do you want to stay the night here?" BamBam asked, his voice laced with concern. Youngjae's eyes wavered to the three on the couch, especially to the one wearing sunglasses. He was sitting with his legs spread wide, both elbows resting on top of his thighs. Most noticeable of all, he was looking directly at Youngjae—at least it seemed like it, though he didn't know for sure because of the shades.

"...Is it Friday?" Youngjae asked, dazed. Yugyeom nodded his head. "I'll stay, then." He took his spot beside Yugyeom again. Having a friend who was almost two meters tall felt comforting sometimes. 'Def Soul' went to the kitchen in order to grab a drink of soda for himself.

On his trip back, though, he was holding two cups. Youngjae didn't notice at first, but 'Def Soul' placed a full cup of jelly beans next to him before sitting back down on the couch.

Youngjae shyly opened his mouth to thank him for the snack until 'Def Soul' put an index finger to his own lips to make a shushing gesture.

It was around midnight, and Youngjae was still wide awake.

The spare bed that he was offered to sleep on for the night smelled a lot like BamBam, and he didn't know how to feel about it.

Every time he closed his eyes in attempt to sleep, he would think about what had happened that day. His mind refused to fall unconscious until it had its curiosity had been fulfilled. Youngjae's legs hung over the side of the bed before he walked out the dark room and to the living room.

"BamBam?" he asked softly.

"Yeah, hyung?" the other's eyes blinked. Youngjae took the spot next to his friend and stared at his lap. BamBam wrapped an arm around his shoulders.

"Who were those three guys?"

"The three dudes on the couch? I met them at a studio sometime last year. I was just walking around to find Yugyeomie when they told me to freestyle rap out of nowhere. I guess they liked it," he explained with a casual shrug. "Why? You have a crush on one of them?"

Youngjae immediately shook his head, making an x sign with his arms. "I don't even know their names. Their real names."

"Well, that's a shame." BamBam made a face shrug this time. "Def Soul seemed to be really worried about you. I think you guys would be a nice couple."

He rolled his eyes at that, although he was a tiny bit flustered. Despite having no clue what Def Soul even looked like—he could be a shady old man for all Youngjae knew—the idea of dating him was something he found appealing. The minutiae of him smiling welcomingly or getting him a new cup of candy felt oddly attractive to Youngjae. Is it really possible for someone to be so handsome at heart?

"I'll go sleep now," Youngjae said while patting his friend's head affectionately.

"Sleep tight, Jaejae-hyung." BamBam grinned and dabbed. "Wanna hang out with us tomorrow? We're planning to go out for some ice cream."

"With the, uh... guys whose names I don't know?"

"Yeah. You should come with us."

Youngjae waved his hand as he disappeared down the hallway, putting up a cool act. Once he was out of BamBam's radar of sight, his cheeks flushed bright pink as he plopped down on the bed.

Why did he keep thinking about how he wanted it to be a date?

"Snzz... zzzzzz..."

"Oh my god, hyung. can you at least stay awake for one hour?" BamBam said with a sigh, making sure to drive responsibly by keeping his eyes on the road. "You sleep even worse than my sister does."

Youngjae sank into his seat even more, nodding his head to the song currently playing in the car.

A few minutes later, the two arrived at the shopping mall that held the promised ice cream store. since it was a saturday morning, there were quite a lot of people walking around. They eventually met up with the rest of the group, but there was one fewer person than Youngjae had remembered there to be.

"Where's Scoops?" BamBam asked while rolling up his sleeves. Youngjae turned to the other direction in order to sneeze briefly, and he swore someone said 'bless you' quietly.

"His girlfriend or something just snatched him away on our way here. I tried telling him bros before hoes but, you know," Rap Mon shrugged his shoulders as he explained. Suddenly, BamBam dashed up to the taller's side and whispered something into his ear. The other slowly nodded his chin in agreement as Youngjae feared what would happen soon.

"Hyung and I are going to look at some clothes," BamBam said with a wink towards Youngjae, whose ears were almost pink. "You two should wait at the ice cream place until we're done! Bye!" The Thai boy shouted while waving his arm, already heading off to search for a boutique of some sort. Left speechless, Youngjae gazed at the two snickering as they strolled away.

"You gonna come or not?" A low voice called out to him, causing him to freeze in surprise. The culprit was Def Soul, whom he admittedly didn't notice until just now since he was so quiet. Youngjae nodded meekly and caught up to him, awkwardly walking besides him.

Im Jaebum was satisfied with himself—he had his boy crush almost literally clinging onto him.

"Do you have an eating disorder?" Def Soul asked out of nowhere, keeping his voice down knowing it was a sensitive topic. Ever so coolly, he stuffed his hands into his ripped jeans pockets and looked forward. He wore a baggy, beige turtleneck sweater which seemed to conceal his identity even more. Youngjae bit on his lower lip.

"I... um..." His hand, covered completely by his hoodie's sleeve, lifted up to cover his mouth. It was a subconscious sign that he didn't want to talk about it. Somehow, the various people walking by were shooting judgmental glares at Youngjae—well, at least they were in his mind. Again, just like the night before's party, his breathing was becoming rushed and he felt as if he was suffocating.

That suffocating feeling went straight away once Def Soul put his arm around his shoulders.

"It's alright," he whispered and continued to casually stroll down the hall. The ice cream shop was nearby already as the red hue spread across Youngjae's cheeks never disappeared. Def Soul's arm left the younger's shoulders and disappointingly took the warmth from his skin. He opened the door for Youngjae, who couldn't bear to look at him directly as he walked in.

Def Soul patted Youngjae's arm and pointed to an empty table before approaching it, sitting down with a sigh. Although it resembled a date too much, Youngjae knew he'd have to sit across from him to avoid making things even more awkward. His hands were folded politely in his lap.

"I'll go order something. What do you want to get?" Def Soul asked, pushing up his sunglasses.

"...Vanilla ice cream," Youngjae requested without looking up from his lap. Nodding, Def Soul stepped to the counter while staring at the menu. A few people sitting in the shop had their gaze fixed on the rare sight of a celebrity-like customer.

Youngjae hid behind the table and his cheeks became even more flushed. He realized that he didn't hand Def Soul any money to pay for his food. Meekly, he peered over to the male ordering the ice cream for him.

Why is he fine with paying for him?

Why is so nice to him in the first place?

Something about that subtle kindness was so familiar, but he couldn't put his finger on it.

66. Sungwoo is just like Sejeong, got everyone shook during first evaluation, sings like an angel and CAN actually dance but has small problems while adapting to the choreo

Katy Perry – “Chained To The Rhythm” ft. Skip Marley

At this point, Katy Perry knows us all too well. With today’s release of the superstar singer’s new single, “Chained to the Rhythm,” the 32-year-old not only makes her overdue return to the top of our playlists but humbly reminds us that she’s long been a fan-favorite for a valid reason, singing, “Turn it up, it’s your favorite song / Dance, dance, dance to the distortion.” While that foreshadowing line may be a safe bet given Perry’s impeccable past success, even in the song’s first initial run-throughs, its potential to be the next major earworm is undeniable. While Perry is warming up for a 2017 takeover, starting with her recently confirmed performance at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards this weekend, she chose to debut the song in an epic fashion, literally scattering speakers masquerading as disco balls all over the world, inviting fans to participate in a scavenger hunt to seek out her latest tune. “Chained to the Rhythm” enlists a guest feature from Bob Marley‘s grandson, Skip, who made his debut on our #SpotifyNMF playlist just last week. Much like his new single “Lions,” the collaborative track holds a strong-but-subtle political message woven into it, simultaneously inspiring us all to do better and rise above what is looking to tear us down. As Perry readies her first studio album since 2013’s Prism, it’s clear she’s not holding anything back this year, proudly declaring, “We gonna call this era Purposeful Pop.”

Migos – Spotify Singles

While Atlanta may have had the upset of the year with last weekend’s unpredictably theatrical Super Bowl outcome, Migos is here to save the day. As the rap group continues to hold it down as ambassadors of the culture enjoying the recent fruits of their labor, recently releasing their second studio album, the reigning champs stopped by Spotify’s New York headquarters to bless the studio with their signature lavish trap sound and have some fun in the process. Although their album, Culture, debuted at the number one slot on the Billboard charts, the group stays on their grind, even creating a brand new single that doubles as an ode to their recent collaboration with hip-hop’s favorite snack food company, Rap Snacks. For their own special edition bags of potato chips, the group went with a sour cream flavor, aptly naming their catchy new track, “Dab of Ranch,” after their own Rap Snacks’ branding. After the group posted a viral video of themselves freestyling about the fact they now have their own chip, the next logical step naturally was to lay it down in the studio. During the Spotify session, the group’s members go back and forth creating what feels like an unlikely love story, with the lyrics playing into the theme brilliantly, with lines such as “Money like bags of chips / hunnits of bags I flip / finger-licking with the ranch / leaving crumbs on your lips,” and “Get your rap snacks with a dab of ranch / If there ain’t no more call the ambulance” the song is surprisingly (or not-so-surprisingly) incredibly well-written and full of personality, not straying far from Migos’ traditional bangers. In fact, this one can arguably hold its own weight in the club, proving not everyone can pull off a potato chip tribute quite like the Migos can. Rounding out their session with a unique rendition of their track, “T-Shirt,” the Atlanta heavyweights continue to secure their sky’s-the-limit legacy.

Adam Friedman – “What If”

Adam Friedman has been wisely preparing for the very stage his career in music has now arrived to for ages. While many artists are eager to release their music into the world the exact second an engineer sends back the master, this emerging singer-songwriter has opted to forge his own path. After graduating from the Berklee College of Music in 2014, Friedman headed straight to the studio, where he worked on Mike Posner‘s second studio album At Night, Alone, while also creating the original song score for an animated feature film Rock Dog, going on to become the singing voice of the main character, who was played by Luke Wilson. After staying busy with these endeavors, Friedman released his debut single into the wild, with “Pretty Things” going on to debut at #10 on Spotify’s Global Viral Chart. Now that he’s gotten his feet wet, it’s just the beginning, with the LA-based musician today releasing his debut EP, Green. While the 5-track collection features two singles that may sound familiar, his celebrated collaboration with Mike Posner “Lemonade,” a track that has since impressively racked up over 6 million streams as well as his lead single, “Sad,” the other tracks on the project serve as an exciting reminder that Friedman is slowly and steadily making his way onto everyone’s radar. With “What If,” Friedman’s opening vocals are perfect for a pensive reflection, as he wonders what would have happened if things with someone who had caught his eye went a little bit differently. The ambience of the song then erupts into warm electronic production full of pan flute-esque synths and a delectable variety of drums, swirling with inevitable sing-along moments proving that Friedman’s ability to borrow elements from pop and dance music alike continues to work in his favor.

Desiigner – “Outlet”

While 2016 put Desiigner on the map in a permanent way with the release of his platinum singles “Panda” and “Timmy Turner,” this year finds the rapper on a whole new level but chasing after the same goals. The 19-year-old is wasting no time getting back down to business after enjoying the breakout success he’s now received his first heavy heaping of, recently announcing a six-week U.S. tour to kick off in April. Not only that but he also followed up the exciting news with a fresh new single, “Outlet,” a song that shares the same name as the 25-city tour run and gives fans a taste of the new material the G.O.O.D. music emcee has been cooking up for his highly anticipated Def Jam debut, The Life of Desiigner. On the new track, the Brooklyn native navigates less-familiar territory, straying a bit from the patterns used in his previous singles, while tactfully weaving in his signature chirps, buttery rhyme-singing and braggadocios battle cries. While the song interestingly enough doesn’t feature the word “outlet,” the song doubles as a reminder that the reputedly high energy Desiigner is still charged up and ready to go. While discussing the new single, Desiigner naturally is already looking toward the bigger picture, using his new music as fuel to get him to where he wants to go next, even thinking as ambitiously as an astronaut. “I got millions and trillions, I’m here to entertain,” he recently declared. “If I gotta get to the next planet and it’s the first ship going up there and it’s a performance, I want to do that. You feel me? So I’m trying to just be everywhere man, just be everywhere.” With “Outlet” the first reveal of what Desiigner has on deck, it’s without a doubt that while the rapper may have a long ways to go until he reaches his out-of-this-world aspiration, he certainly is heading in the right direction.

Fifty Shades Darker – Official Soundtrack

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, today’s timely release of the second installment of the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise is making sure that regardless of how one may feel about the hallmark holiday, the film’s soundtrack is here for the die-hard romantics and the reluctant population alike. As the best-selling book series went on to takeover the big screen, with Fifty Shades of Grey and now Fifty Shades Darker, it’s only fitting that the accompanying soundtrack is full of major players, unlikely collaborations and as much sex appeal as the erotic romance tale itself exudes. While the film’s first soundtrack birthed some of 2015’s most sultry anthems, including The Weeknd‘s “Earned It” and Ellie Goulding‘s “Love Me Like You Do,” this year’s collection appears to hold just as much promise as its predecessor. As recently featured on #SpotifyNMF, Taylor Swift and Zayn‘s collaboration “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever,” has already racked up an impressive 175M plays on Spotify, with Halsey‘s offering “Not Afraid Anymore,” gliding past 6M, building anticipation to see what else the star-studded collection has in store. With songs from John Legend, Tove Lo, Sia, Kygo, The-Dream, Nick Jonas, Nicki Minaj and more, Fifty Shades Darker covers a lot of ground, both in both the lyrical sense and genre-wise. With songs ranging from tropical house-tinged tracks to piano-led ballads to sinister pop, the soundtrack explores an overall theme of lust, with each track tackling a new interpretation of the complicated emotion and experience. While the film’s at-times controversial plot is a bit more dark than the content of its soundtrack may be, Fifty Shades Darker is poised to dominate theaters and the airwaves alike this weekend and then some, with the conversations surrounding the cultural phenomenon destined to continue well past its debut opening.
