Hello Hobbit Friends!

How it is already the end of August??

The beginning of September is usually when we (the mods) start planning, discussing, updating rules, pre-writing posts, creating banners, etc. A lot goes on behind the scenes for this event, but we sincerely love being able to facilitate it. And we adore seeing all the creativity you guys demonstrate year after year. This is an older fandom, yet we actually see a steadily-increasing number of participants, which is incredible!

The truth is, though, with so many people taking part in this event, we’ve seen a corresponding upswing in the amount of effort it takes to bring it to fruition. We have three mods, which theoretically means we can split the burden evenly, but we all work full-time and have busy lives. Moderating a gift exchange during such a hectic time of year means that we, like the participants, have to work around other people’s wonky schedules and changing plans. And the longer the event has gone on, the more we find ourselves spending the entire month of December sending out frantic emails to check on progress, freaking out about last-minute dropouts, and—invariably—scrambling to fill requests ourselves in the wee hours to make sure that every single person receives something.

Back when we had fewer of these to do, it wasn’t as much of a problem! But last year we had 63 signups and ended up needing to create about 10 last-minute gifts. We were able to find a couple of absolute angels to pinch-hit for us, but two of our mods were still churning out 6 full-color illustrations on Christmas Eve. We've tried various methods throughout the years to mitigate it, but we've come to realize that it's simply part of moderating an event like this. And it's starting to become unsustainable.

As much as we love putting on the exchange, we haven’t been able to be fully present with our loved ones during the holiday season since 2017. It’s rewarding to bring it all together every year, but the stress has begun to overshadow the joy. We’d like to step away and not only take time for ourselves, but maybe give someone else the opportunity to breathe new life into the event. So regrettably, unless we find someone who is interested in taking the reins, there will not be a Happy Hobbit Holiday 2022.

To all the people who have participated in the exchange in years past, we’re so grateful to you for your hand work, your passion, your creativity, your feedback, and your continued interest in this event! We hope that you’ll continue to share your talents for years to come, and we’ll be awaiting your beautiful future work with Kudos and keysmashes!

To anyone who has ever done a pinch-hit for us, you have been the backbone of every single HHH exchange we’ve done for the last five years. We literally could not have accomplished it without you. hhh ALL of them... okay the vast majority of the players can be explained away with just "physical prowess enough to make them a threat in individual challenges but dumb as bricks and would not be able to strategize themselves out of a bad spot"

this is abt to get long lmao so I'm putting individual ppl under the cut

nate is the most obvious first boot I honestly feel bad about it. bumbling, socially awkward, has NO idea how to assert himself without being an asshole about it (in the rare instances when he does assert himself at all), and even if he's smart enough to be a great strategist (which he absolutely IS), he can't convey it well enough to convince his tribe to overlook his (probable) lack of challenge ability. most of the time, people don't want to draw harsh lines in the sand on the very first vote so they can pretend everyone's getting along and still friends, so nate would be a sort of freebie vote that it'd be easy to agree on.

beard is too much of a follower. what ted says to dr sharon abt him is, "that man has had many lives, many masters." he's very comfortable being led by people with stronger personalities, and even when he disagrees with their calls he will still execute them like a perfect little lackey. the thing about beard is that I think he'd go VERY far in a season of survivor! I think he could EASILY make it all the way to the end! but I just don't think he can WIN. he's genius-level intelligent and SO strategically savvy, but more than that he is fiercely loyal. he'll attach himself to the right person (or the wrong person, as it were), and even if he is whispering in that person's ear all the way through, he would be TOO content to let them take all the credit, he wouldn't push back against them if they disagree with his plans and make a lesser move instead (the whole beginning of 'beard after hours' is him berating himself for not standing up and making the hard calls even when he knew they'd be better), he wouldn't turn around and slit that person's throat at the end to further his own game, and he would make himself socially impenetrable to everyone else. nobody could get close to him, nobody could like or understand him, he'd probably be seen as good collateral if the opposition couldn't strike directly at whomever beard works with, and if he DOES make it to final tribal, I think he'd have a very difficult time convincing the jury that he deserves the credit and the limelight. he wants to win, I just don't think he believes he deserves to.

ted and roy actually would have the exact same problem, which is "physically and strategically competent, but so FUCKING ANNOYING to live with that they get booted for the sake of tribal quality of life." roy would isolate himself socially with his aggression, and ted...

ted is the antithesis of what a "good survivor player" ought to be, which I actually think could work to his advantage in a number of ways? like I think more typical players would find him incredibly unpredictable because he's sharp enough to see what the best moves are, but generous and self-sacrificing enough not to make them. like, there's a reason he's a coach and not a player. there's a reason he says that he doesn't measure success in wins and losses. if he could survive the first few votes, his social game would be AMAZING-- the entire first season of the show is about him wearing rebecca down through the sheer magnitude of his friendship! lesser survivor players would be so endeared to him that they couldn't fathom voting him off, but they're the ones who are getting picked off in his stead. moderately savvy survivor players would not trust a single word out of ted lasso's mouth; there's no fucking way a man can be this kind and this sincere, not on survivor, it's just not possible, he must be plotting something MASSIVE, we have to strike first before he gets his chance. and the truly brilliant survivor players would realize that he IS genuine, he IS sincere, he IS loyal and giving to his core, and that's DANGEROUS. you can't let someone like that make it to the end or they'll take your million dollars. best to shut it down at the jump.

and above all that, I just think that ted... ted would thrive in the pre-merge, in the tribal portion of the game, he's SO team-oriented, but post-merge, in the individual game... perhaps if he had a solid alliance he could also feel that way about, then it might suit his temperament, but ultimately I think he just. wouldn't want it badly enough. I just think the significant majority of people would be vastly more self-interested than ted would be, so they'd take the shot first.

higgins is an interesting midpoint between all three of nate, beard, and ted, in that he's a henchman through and through even when he disagrees with his boss, he's a pushover who'd be seen as a liability in physical challenges in the early game, and he's off-puttingly friendly and polite to the point that nobody would trust that he's being sincere even though he absolutely is. early boot, maybe second or third.

maybe it's just because I've got cook islands on the brain, but jamie (esp season 1 jamie but like. season 2 as well lmao) would play A LOT like early ozzy. an arrogant wonder-boy who's good at everything (did you know there's literally a survivor casting archetype called the "amazing ace"?), with a heart-wrenching underdog story (playing for richmond, that is), an absolute beast in challenges, a huge threat but always immune, he'd win his way to the end but ultimately be beaten out in final tribal by someone smart enough to have dragged him along as their meat shield the whole game.

and as for rebecca... g-d. this one I think hurts me the most because she has everything going for her, she doesn't have a single one of the problems I've listed for anyone else, but I do genuinely believe that rebecca still loses. she's strong and she's smart and she's assertive and she's ruthless and she's sociable and she's a great liar and she's ambitious and she's ADAPTIBLE (she immediately bounces back after not getting the sun to run the photo of ted and keeley and comes up with an alternate plan that will still serve her own endgame, and by g-d being able to roll with the punches and change course is the single most important thing a survivor player can do), but rebecca still loses.

even if we set aside the fact that survivor on the whole is not particularly kind to women over 40... season 1 rebecca, especially early season 1 rebecca, is spite-motivated to the point of self-destruction. she will set her sights on one target and she will be relentless in her effort to get that person out and it'll make her so myopic that she won't see her own end coming immediately afterwards. nobody on that tribe wants to be her next victim-- better get rid of her once she's proven what she's capable of.

she's also dreadfully insecure in the wake of her divorce and when her polished veneer cracks enough to let it show (how many days of being rained on do we think it'll take for her to slip? my guess is five), some people will see it as the vulnerability that finally allows them to connect with her on a human level, while others will see it as a threatening endgame storyline and an exploitable weakness.

there are some juries, particularly old-school juries, that wouldn't vote for her in the end purely based on the fact that a million dollars is just a drop in the bucket to a woman like rebecca mannion welton. that would be a real shame, and a disservice to the game she would have had to play just to make it that far.

what's more likely than that, though, in my opinion, is that rebecca... loses the drive to win. I think that somewhere along the way survivor stops being a game that she is playing, stops being a competition, and instead becomes a journey of personal growth through adversity. I think she, like ted, stops measuring her success in wins and losses. I think she proves herself more capable and resilient than she ever thought she could be, and that is worth more to her than the money or the title of sole survivor, and she stops fighting for it. and maybe the jury admires that, and gives it to her anyway, rewards her transformation. or maybe they don't. maybe they view it as a concession, a forfeit. but I'm not certain that that moment of revelation happens at the final tribal council. I think it happens just before. I think it happens after the final immunity challenge, and she tearfully and valiantly allows herself to be voted out just inches from the finish line. I think rebecca is the fallen angel of the season, and she goes off to the jury with her head held high, which is nice, and so very noble of her, and the fans would be DYING to have her play again but she wouldn't, because she'll have gotten everything she could have wanted out of her survivor experience, and she doesn't need the crown on top of it.

I think rebecca COULD win. she just WON'T.

Arrancar Veintiséis, Ggio Vega.

Ggio has some conflicted feelings regarding his Arrancar number. In a way wishing he would have turned earlier, but realizing it was impossible. He was very much against the idea at first. But after a short period of time getting used to the Arrancar body, he wishes he would have been of the first. His number, 26. Isn’t really all that special. In the ranks of Barragan, he is second to last to transform, from the surviving soldiers anyway. And that will forever be a stain on his pride and loyalty. Belayed as he was, not daring to volunteer to step forward, means he showed weakness and cowardice. Though his King it meant little, to him that number will forever haunt him. He’s eternally jealous of Charlotte for having the unwavering guts and loyalty to go first, even before Barragan himself.

Though in retrospect, 26 isn’t a bad number. Sure, it doesn’t really stand out, but. He’s one of the first Hollows to turn into an Arrancar after all. Even if within his own ranks, it’s close to last in line. ...Dammit.

Charlotte came first for safety measures. After him, His Majesty. And then Abirama, and so on.

At first, it was scary. For more reasons than should be accounted for. His Majesty had ruled over Hueco Mundo for what has to be as close a period to eternity as possible. To him, he was the most superior being to exist. One who stands as the overseer of death, whose existence alone strikes fear in any and everyone. The true King, Death itself. Anyone who would doubt his power would be deemed a fool too close to their own demise.

Yes, His Majesty’s power was absolute. Unquestionable. So why. Why did he decide to turn?

“Ggio.” The previously only-bone Hollow, now appearing as an old man whose glare alone could silence even a raging crowd. It was undeniable that his Reiatsu grew tremendously from this shift alone -- now nigh unfathomable to a lowly Adjuchas like himself. He gulped down. He could feel his blood rushing, eyes widened in clear shock as his breathing behind his mask turned more frantic. Though in the presence of His Majesty, having to keep the appearance that such, didn’t get to him too much. Especially after the rest gave their respective parts regarding Lord Barragan’s transformation. A deep breath, preparing himself... “Forward.”

That’s it. The single word of command, not a moment wasted. The King issued his order, and the loyal servant was to follow; as the rest before him did. The sphere sitting right there, harmlessly almost. An eerie atmosphere emanating from it, yet it felt compelling. As if it had warmed up from the constant transformations it just caused. His eyes fixated on the orb, the bastard that reeled His Majesty into his plans simply waiting.

...For once, he couldn’t obey. “...No. No!!” He suddenly yelled out, entire body tensed up as his nose scrunched and masked eyebrows deeply furrowed; finally he was portraying defiance. Much to the King’s silent displeasure, to the other soldiers’ surprise and mockery. “You’re all screwed up in the head!!” Ggio burst in panic, his bladed hands digging into the revamped Las Noches’ floor. “Don’t you get it!? If we do that, we’re just playing into Aizen Sosuke’s hands!! Who cares about this power!!? None of us needs it anyway!! Especially not His Majesty!!” The Hollow retorted further. Remaining as the sticking wrench stopping the line from proceeding.

Barragan, obviously didn’t take kindly to this. “You dare oppose me?” He asked, his voice as intimidatingly commanding as ever. Tone of voice kept low and calmed, yet anyone who heard could tell. He was angered. His Majesty didn’t take shit from his subordinates; especially now with the power gap more apparent than ever. Any Hollow foolish enough to disobey would be eradicated immediately. And now... He didn’t even have to lift a finger to do that. “Me? The King of Hueco Mundo?”

He was silenced in place. “L-Lord Barragan...” It was practically futile disobeying by this point. Barragan had already transformed. One of the first to do so, in fact. And with only a few of the army left as is, the pecking order shifted in an instant. Anything said from that point on, might as well would be empty. “Surely you understand me, my King!! Aizen Sosuke is not to be trusted.” He blurted out, despite the presence of the other in the room. An unbothered, unmoved expression upon the Shinigami’s face nonetheless, made Ggio’s argument all the more desperate. “We shouldn’t do as this guy tells us!! Your reign over all realms doesn’t need his help!! Just kill him where he stands, Your Majesty! You are the only one I will eve--”

“Silence.”

And just like that, he lost his voice. Throat hacked in a moment’s notice by another underling -- not even by Barragan himself. --One word. One word alone, is all it took. And Ggio Vega no longer served under the King of Hueco Mundo. He was no longer viable to getting stronger, no longer able to speak -- arguably not even alive. “Not only will you disobey my word, you would also humiliate me?” The mighty Hollowed Man let out. Standing from his chair and closing the distance between him and the Adjuchas in an unperceived instant.

“Hhh--...!!” His voice didn’t come out. Eyes widened in horror as he fell to the floor, only a single dark palm in-front of his face. A human’s palm. Barragan Luisenbairnn’s hand, now of pure flesh. “I don’t need disobedient soldiers.” He said, an unforgivingly stoic look on his face. This lack of reaction only made him appear more terrifying. He was so much more powerful now... Not even registering Ggio as a worthy existence. “Yours... will be an end worse than death.” ---

“...Yes, Your Majesty.” He’d know better than to let all of that play out. The Hollow was absolutely certain. He was a little too late to protest and, in the first place was in no position to. It was now either running away into Hueco Mundo’s grounds, aimless again and subject to a dog’s death -- having already lost the ability to evolve further... ... ...Or submit to Aizen Sosuke’s plan, and follow the Lord’s path.

Well. The answer was just plain obvious, wasn’t it?

A single step forward. Then another. Swallowing down his pride and silencing the need to revolt as much as possible. There were obvious benefits to this. The few drawbacks are, unfortunately, what ate away at his soul. In truth, he was scared. Simply scared of the change. He’d forgotten what he’d looked like as a person, and after so long, had gotten accustomed to this Hollow’s appeara --No, that really wasn’t it. It’s as superficial as could be. His fear was rooted in something else. Deeper.

...All reason pointed towards this option. He stood in-front of the Hogyoku, lowering his head and closing his eyes as he waited. A flash of blinding light striking from the miniscule ball again as the Shinigami reached to touch it -- the same as it had for his preceding men. The surprised reaction long-gone, after six consecutive procedures. They’d all expected the same outcome to come out by this point.

He wasn’t special. He wasn’t an individual in the army anymore. And neither was his King. --

“State your name.”

“Arrancar Veintiseis... Ggio Vega.” -- He was just another number.

Aizen Soskue... For this disgrace, I will never forgive you.

It's a quiet day today outside the City's walls. With a sky clear as the great sea, and the sun beating against the gentle winds of nature, it's a well enough day off that anyone could ask. The sound of revving sparrow harrowing in the distance.

" Y'know, I did say you'd make it out as a Hunter. "

It had been two Guardians that had taken advantage of the day and recent occasion. Of the duo, an Exo seeming incredibly enthralled over celebratory matters -- digits fumbling over different knobs and settings as he sat upon summoned bike. His Ghost, a familiar eye sore as it hovered near the front of the vehicle, scanning for any inconsistencies before complying with the ideals at hand, as if making note to every detail that structured the sparrow thus far in its' anatomy. 

" Yeah? " secondary voice speaks, arms crossed upon blossomed chest as Awoken eyes blink at the scene at hand. Dawning that of a wrinkled cloak, recently gifted by the Vanguard, himself, she prides herself in its' notion with a brief chuckle, tilting her head in speech. " Something you guys see that I can't, I guess. Just kinda, going with my gut now. "

" And I get to ride alongside the notorious rep of a Hunter, " a secondary Ghost chimes in -- its' frame recently painted over from pristine whites to a darker, deeper violet.

" Oh, come on, it's not gonna be that bad. Besides, what's so bad about Hunters? Hawthorne and Ikora made the guy sound like a nutcase, but really aside from Bex here, he's the only one whose talked to me like a person, " the Hunter sighed, waving a hand in tone. " Maybe it's an Exo thing? "

The other having been concentrated on something else at the time, sensors heat at the mention of ones' name before turning his neck around toward the other. Golden optics blinking in mild confusion, " --Huh? What? You called? " a sudden spark pinching against the steel beneath cotton gloves, "  --ouch!-- Screws, you said this part was clear! "

" S0rry. "

" Ugh, it's really like you're tryin' to get rid of me some days, " the Exo whined, a dramatic hurt in his voice before snapping back over to the other duo. Shifting upon the seat slightly as he stretches his back some, resituating posture with hands resting in front of his sit. " S'what's an Exo thing? Being courteous? "

" Somethin' like that, " Selene giggles, waving a dismissing hand on the subject before walking over. Icicle-toned eyes examining in further detail the exterior workings of the vehicle, few numbers and gauges highlighted in a red print against steel plating. The handles, both equipped with protruding locks and buttons, none to which she understood how they worked. 

Not yet, at least. 

Having accidentally committed to driving lessons in her recent return of the City below, Bex being far more excited on the subject of teaching. She couldn't help but feel somewhat mislead, that it would in fact be the witnessing of ones' learning, and not necessarily the teaching routine that provoked the gleeful intent. At least she knew how to shoot a pistol, now.

" So, real easy, right? " Bex comments, scooting back slightly as he gestures towards the monitors in front of him. " This one is your speed, and this one tracks how far you travel from point A to B. Real handy when doing recon," he points, moving his finger elsewhere to a secondary dial, " This? Never really remember what this does. But, never seems too important? Screws hasn't told me anything about it. -- Anyway, this here? " a mashed in button, " Use to be a firin' ma'jig before I busted it up beyond repair. Could never bring myself to bring the ol' girl to the Holidays for a tune up -- "

" He has not paid off his debt for the last run, " his Ghost interjects. Pausing the explanation completely, Warlock's head prodding toward the front of the vehicle.

" Hey -- Screws? Ya done good buddy. Pack it up now. Catch some zz's! " the Exo sneered, waving a wrist towards the front of the sparrow. A hesitant means to react before the curved-shaped shell dissipates in a flash. For good measure, awaiting several seconds after before turning yellow optics back to his Awoken ally, addling a shrug. " And this here, this is your gas, " he extends a hand upon one of the handles, twisting it gently as it purs. " More ya twist, more ya go. Always important to have both hands -- and if you wanna go really fast, use both hands! S'great! "

" Both handles are used to.. accelerate? " her head tilts a moment, perplexed. 

" On this model? Sure! "

" Is that even safe? "

" Is what safe? " the Exo blinks.

" That... know what? Never mind. "

" That doesn't sound safe at all, " the remaining Ghost whirls, its' optic narrowed in concern as it looked between the two Guardians. " Are you sure this is the right place to do this? "

" It's fine Data, " Selene assured, giving a nod in his direction.

" Data? Buddy has a name now? " Bex inquires, looking over upon the painted shell as he hops off the sparrow. " Nice to properly meet ya' acquaintance, little light! "

Taking her own turn in the seat, the Awoken slides over in place -- her feet just barely touching the ground from where it hovered as she picks up the conversation. " They're like little memory machines, right? I figured Data would be a easy name for him. " A hand running over the glass of reflective numbers, she picks up her feet and rests them upon the grips at its' side. Getting a feel for comfort before utility, the steady hum comforting to the rumble in her chest.

" She's a little out-dated, but, still does the trick jus' fine, " the Warlock moves over towards the front, giving the build a soft pat. " Had her since... man, time goes by fast. "

" You name your sparrow, too? "

" Name? Well... I mean, yeah ... who wouldn't? She uh... Her names' uh... F.. A.. Asterid. Asterid's her name, reliable girl. "

" Does Screws know about this? " Selene smirks, quirking a brow in playful question as doubt swims effortlessly in the air. 

" Screws? 'Course he knows! He and she? Best friends. Hands down, " Bex nodded, lifting his open palms aside in defensive measure. " Except for when shes' feelin' testy. Then they're not best friends. "

"And you mentioned before that uh... if something does go wrong, your Ghost can reforge the sparrow in its' entirety, right? " the Hunter hums, now resting both her hands upon handles, softly gripping and getting a comfortable lean in her posture. Though careful enough to not accidentally trigger anything -- the tensions upon grips still resting at her fingertips.

" Sure can. Part of their little gift - small things like a sparrow or somethin', scans and duplicates it just like us. Makes for a nifty transport when you need some speed out in the blue. Or when y'uhh... y'know, miss a turn going too fast and launch off the cliff side. "

" ...What was that last part? "

" A poorly learned experience -- moving on, " the Exo snapped, rolling his wrist with an index pointed upward to the sky. " So! Ready to rev'er up? Know what true speed n' bliss is?! "

" How bad can it go? " the Hunter chuckles, responding with solid nod before turning her attention back forward. A landing zone of flat land for at least a couple miles, little to no obstacles in the midst for her to get use to the steering. It would be a safe cruise from here to there, simple and easy. 

The feeling of power resting beneath her grip, she then cranks one handle forward -- the reaction being... less than expected, the sparrow hardly moving in place but several inches at a time. Confusion muddied her face, a look around before testing both handles at once, this time, only amplifying the speed by a whole 'nother foot worth of travel. Bex and Data standing in place with hopeful expression -- the Exo somewhat cracking in its' exterior as he tried to figure from a distance why the sparrow was moving so... slow.

" Hey, Bex? I think something's wrong, " Selene calls over, both hands still cranking both handles with little to no progression. With a brief jog is Bex able to catch up, over looking all the gears and settings, searching for the issue. It isn't until he scans near her hands that it's found, like a light bulb igniting over ones' head if he could smile.

" Oh, silly! Your pinky is holding on the break, too! " he points, the two far right of the Awoken's fingers having rested upon one of the protruding elements against the handles. " Just take your fingers off that and it'll -- "

                                           --- NYOOOOM ---

It was like a rocket, soaring at the speeds from 5 to 80 miles per hour. The sonic boom of ones' jets, enough to knock the Exo to the ground, flat on his bottom -- optics flickering temporarily in disruption before he shakes himself back to static. Both his sparrow and the Awoken it held captive, now far beyond reach at speeds he hadn't even tampered with personally. A soft hum, as the Ghost approaches the grounded fellow, its' own blue optic blinking in severe concern.

" O-Oh no. Is she going to be all right? "

" She uh... I mean, that's what you're here for, right? " hand raises to the back of his neck in a pinch, before dragging himself upwards to a standing position once more. Shaking out the sand between his exterior parts, arms and legs, before pumping himself up in a sprint to go catch up with his doomed friend. She's gonna be so pissed. 

" Seeeeel! We're coming Sel!!! "

" Ah! She's over here! "

" You --whew-- ya' found her? --hhh--, man. Really -- really gotta, --huff-- get this whole, air thing checked out -- "

It had taken under three miles before registering an immediate location, but in the glance of scanning the wood, Data was able to track down his Guardian with relative ease. A small body, crumpled into itself against the bark of a tree, soft hissing becoming more apparent the closer the two approached before peering into a bush and finding the girl in one piece. Several scratches across her clothing and a single light cut on her face -- she's holding her arm in doing so when blue eyes raise to meet her lost companions.

" Oh -- hey. "

" Sel! " the Exo greets happily. " Man, we thought we'd lost ya! How you feelin? "

" I uh... not... great... " she admits, a cynical tone twisted in her words. A pause in between as she thinks for a moment, following the nudging of ones' head in further forward direction near the road. " You're uh... gonna need that maintenance, " it's spoken in favor of the missing vehicle, a cloud of dull smoke channeling a bit more forward past the fallen trunk of a tree. A clear dent in the mass where impact had crashed upon, inevitably flipping she off the sparrow, and the bike itself to... well, it was too loud or bright to tell at the time. Her priorities remaining to clear distance and get off the road. " Don't think Asterid's taking it too well. "

" And I don't think you're taking it too well, " Data mocks, hovering over towards his Light as he scans over her bio-metrics. " You've injured your arm. Should we get you to a medic? "

" Probably? "

" We'll get ya back to the Tower, then, " Bex agrees, looking upon his own shoulder in silent beckon of ones' Ghost, Screws illuminating back in and steering himself near the roads. With minimal effort, its' as if he's done this too many times -- light accumulating in the shape of the defeated sparrow, not a scratch in sight as it's placed gently on the ground, ready for power. " I'll uh... I'll do the driving. "

" Yeah -- yeah, no. I don't wanna... I don't wanna do that again, " Selene shakes her head, causing her world to spin temporarily, eyes going crossed. " M'wait... for my own. "

" I'm sure Holiday can get ya somethin' more your fit, " Bex laughs as he climbs over the bush now, bending a knee and wrapping her uninjured arm around his shoulders. Helping her up and guiding one back to the road, he seats her in front first -- a taken consideration that it'd be difficult to hold on from behind with her injury, before sliding on the narrow backside, himself, stretching his arms as far forward as he can without squishing her against the counsel. 

The notion causing the Awoken's face to flush -- both a side of embarrassment for having totaled the others' vehicle and paying the price, and the other, being so close proximity to another person. It was... stressing. Knotting stomach comforted only by the soft purring of the sparrow, she looks over to Data in a dismissive tone before they journey back towards the City. This time at reasonable speeds, the Hunter able to properly sight-see as they rode back from which they came.

" I'm going to safely assume that someone had their hand pulled on both handles, eh? "

" I'm going to safely assume that I don't hear you talking. "

" Haha! Fair, fair. Did you at least have fun? "

" I don't really consider something that is panic educing to be my peak set for entertainment. "

" Everyone has their preferences, " the Exo snorts. " How bout this -- we get you checked out, then we go grab some food. My treat for not having a bachelor in sparrow training. "

" You're telling me you're not even certified? " she teases.

" Not even a little bit! "

" Mm... fine deal. But you're coming to the Tower with me. "

" Spicy ramen here we come! "

29. Why do they fall a little bit more in love?

Jin has a lot to give, and he knows he is not the easiest person to get along with at times so when he finally hears Girans quirk and life, and there is no judgment there a small bit of sympathy. Things start, Giran starts to trust the guy who put a hell of a lot of trust in him. He never realized he was breaking rules for Jin as don’t call from the personal line in the office. To giving up a bit of free work with the suit. 

It hit Jin earlier on that he was in love with Giran, a bit softly at first. But Giran when he fell he fell hard. 

16. When the zombie apocalypse comes, how do they cope together?

They cope like they coped with a lot of things, back to back ready to fight on both sides. Jin does express his emotions in a bit of a healthier way, the world was shit now but at least they had each other. No matter how hard it was going to be, he wouldn’t want it any other way. Giran is a bit more reserved and practical, saying just have measurements of himself ready. He could not live to see himself failing Jin so if it came down to it he would be a distraction or a clone of himself would be one. Giran gets buff arms like Jin though for fighting zombies. 

30. Why does it work (or not work) between them?

Trust, it works because of trust. And not having to worry about hiding villainy from your spouse. The only time they can run into problems is schedules and not being able to see each other for weeks at a time, they still keep in contact.  

22. Where does their first kiss happen?

It was spur of the moment, really. They went out after Girans work, shop just at the bottom of Jins building so he was close to home. Grabbing noodles there before getting into Girans car. Giran talked with the guy and in his heart of hearts he understood why he drove to his own home not the room he showed Jin he lived in when the guy worried about him. He invited Jin inside and they talked and ate. Radio on in the back of the apartment to give some music. After dinner they move to the couch and after Giran sits down at the corner Jin sits beside him half laying down. Giran hides a raised eyebrow barley from the guy as an action movie is turned on. Giran taps Jins shoulder and asks at him, “Do you want a kiss?” Jin immediately pulled up the bottom of his mask and leaned up to kiss Giran. After the kiss he leaned back and smiled, “Yes.”

LA's new homelessness stats reveal a crisis that is only worsening

LA has the nation's worst homelessness problem, a (literal) epidemic so terrible it distorts the national statistics.

Unsurprisingly, LA is also home to a speculator-driven real-estate bubble (badly exacerbated by Airbnb), which has placed affordable housing outside of the reach of many Californians, and put a third of the county into housing precarity, with more than half their income going to basic shelter. In 2018, a rent-control ballot initiative triggered the most expensive anti- campaign in the history of American ballot measures, supplemented with dirty tricks campaigns from landlords, who are increasingly dominated by giant hedge funds who have created a new foreclosure playbook that is putting record numbers of people on the street (or in their cars).

Writing in the LA Times, Steve Lopez launches a blistering attack on the city and county's failure to address this problem, blaming a combination of tardiness, slowness, NIMBYism, and grift. For example, the city has almost completely failed to advance its plans to turn about 100 unused city properties into housing -- years later, only a few of them are in the planning phase and no development work has started on any of them.

The last election did see the passage of Measure HHH, which allocated millions for homelessness programs, but that money has either gone unspent or misspent (new apartments built with HHH money have cost as much as $500K). In the meantime, new numbers released by the county this week put the total homeless population in LA County at 60,000, with homelessness up 7% in homelessness among seniors, and 24% in young people (nearly a quarter of students at one Pacoima elementary school are homeless).

The new numbers should be a wakeup call. Homelessness isn't just a blight, it's not just a public health problem -- it's also an indictment of the city, its residents and its leadership. Homelessness is a human tragedy, and LA is ground zero for that tragedy.

Dream job: I! Would love to! Be the host of some form of nature conservation show! Or! Maybe be a traveling in-field scientist of some sort, like in the earth sciences or something like that!

What am I wearing?: I have. Way too many camo hats. I’m wearing a blue camo ball cap, a purple sweater over a blue graphic t-shirt and yoga pants. Because it is Sunday and it is Quill’s Break Day.

Favorite food: Uhhhhh HHH I DUNNO I LIKE SO MANY FOODS. Iiiii think it’s carbonara? My family makes it from scratch (yes pasta and all, I make my own pasta) for my birthday and it’s just... so good.

Language(s): English and French! Although I’m technically bilingual by provincial standards, I’m still pretty iffy with French grammar and I haven’t spoken it fluently in about three years now. Still can understand it fine, though! I know random bits of Russian, German, Norwegian, and Spanish, and I’m currently trying to learn ASL~!

Can I play an instrument?: Violin and piano and some other percussion! Also recorders and penny whistles and harmonicas. I can do like... basic oboe and harp, but aside from that, I tend to pick up new instruments pretty quickly! Except for guitar, for whatever reason? Bleh.

Random fact: Quill has been accused several times of being a pyro. They have refused to give a clear answer on each occasion.

Metallica

Spice Girl can’t actually communicate with Metallica, and she’s pretty sure it can only make vague wailing and say one word (loaad ~ ) but? She acts like she can talk to it, annoying everyone, especially Risotto, because she won’t reveal it’s secrets. Trish swears she has no control over Spice sometimes.

Gives Metallica little iron cubes as a snack or just something to play with? They seem to like it, though Spice can’t really tell. You go on being funky, little beans. Gently pets them as they rave about until Trish finds out that yes, Risotto can feel it ( she still pets them once or twice on occasion )

Funnily enough, Spice Girl can provide to be a decent counter to Metallica, because she can soften the forming razors / nails in a person so they don’t pierce through anything, or just puke up the softened iron. Unfortunately having literal nails in your blood stream might, still, you know, kill you. Not that Trish has ever tested this as Metallica in action usually means. Death. But she tried it on the metal cubes she gives to it.

White Album

This is literally a suit. It’s more Spice Girl interacting with Ghiaccio than anything.

That being said, whilst Spice might counter Metallica to some extent, Ghiaccio hard counters Spice’s abilities, and I’m sure he’s not above pointing that out whenever Trish is even slightly annoying. No matter how soft something is, once it’s frozen over, you don’t need to break it, you can just shatter it. Her ability has to be applied after.

Spice jokingly offers to make him a stress ball that won’t ever loose it’s elasticity and softness because he clearly needs one when he gets angry. Ghiaccio isn’t amused with the suggestion

Little Feet

Spice is surprised to find out that Little Feet is just as sentient as her, but it doesn’t seem to be taking any initiative. She later learns that Little Feet is not a very smart stand, but that’s okay. It seems to have a very single-mindedness about wanting to protect her, probably due to Formaggio being Trish’s ‘big bro.’

Little Feet brings random dead things to Spice Girl, much like a cat, because it’s trying to help her learn to fight/hunt for herself. Spice.. appreciates it, kinda, but also tries to tell him that she doesn’t need to learn. It doesn’t work.

Spice and Little Feet have a very good relationship as they have to work together most of the time.

Man in the Mirror

Spice Girl wondered if she could trap Illuso / Man in the Mirror by softening the reflective surface. Since it’s more or less kinda like portals than physically transferring them, it doesn’t work. He at least gave her points for the attempt ( and also a few insults for good measure )

Spice flew into an absolute rage worthy of the one she pulled on Notorious B.I.G when Illuso pulled Trish in the mirror world and left Spice outside, probably as a cruel prank or something. Even he was surprised at how crass Spice can actually get. He didn’t do it a second time, that’s for sure.

Without Illuso’s shitty influence, Man in the Mirror isn’t that bad of a sentient stand, it’s just too bad that he and Spice won’t really get to interact since it can’t stray too far from it’s user.

Baby Face’s Juniors

Seeing as Baby Face can make an infinite number of Juniors, they serve as excellent sparring partners for Trish and Spice Girl to go all out on, because even if she does destroy the Junior somehow, Melone can just go out and make another. 

It’s probably only when Trish learns how exactly Baby Face makes those Juniors that she is much, much less keen on destroying one in the sparring sessions.

Junior is the epitome of a little shit and his attitude towards Spice is no different. It just gives Spice increasingly creative ways to kill that particular Junior only for another to be manufactured sooner or later. One time one of them definitely jokes “you wouldn’t hit a child would you?” to which Spice Girl quite plainly picks it up and throws it out the window.

Beach Boy

This is literally a fishing pole.

Spice Girl is just as soft to Pesci as Trish is, though, honestly. She’s not afraid to give the big boy a hug, because he’s the big bro! And big bro’s get hugs!

I can’t think of much here, hhh

Grateful Dead

Considering the fact Grateful being out means that everyone is going to be ageing, Spice doesn’t get to interact with it often, and she’s genuinely a little creeped out by it’s appearance. That’s one too many eyes, bub.

That being said, she does give it little objects to see how it reacts to it, which is where she learns it seemed to like expensive things. And also she’s not getting that item back. Ever.

If anything, Prosciutto’s more likely to instruct Trish to take greater control over her Stand, which Spice Girl doesn’t actually argue with. Many times Spice asks Trish to give her orders, and tries to encourage her to take a more proactive role.

Zodiac: Gemini (i have no idea what this means because every zodiac thing says something different about Geminis)

Height: 5′4″ (which is apparently 162.5 cm and i have no sense of metric measurements because America)

Last movie I saw: Black Hawk Down, which I saw with my family--it was very good and also very sad, but touching.  not a light movie, but it’s worth a watch and on netflix!

Last thing I googled: “korean politics” for a school assignment about Korean culture.  I’m presenting a piece of Korean culture with a partner and we chose politics as our topic.

Favorite musician: Highly debatable, but lately I have been enjoying Ruelle, Panic! At the Disco, and Sia.  (used to like k-pop groups like bts and seventeen but thankfully i am done with that phase)

Song stuck in my head: Sweet but Psycho by Ava Max which is overplayed but also my current favorite song so can’t complain (have been wanting to choreograph a jazzy dance to it!)

Other blogs: none!  I used to have a studyblr (I have a studygram), but it was a chore to keep up so I deleted it.  I had a languageblr very briefly but decided it was pointless and deleted it also.  so just this one :)

Play any instruments: Piano but I am of very average skill.  I also played percussion in my school band in middle school so I have a basic knowledge of most percussion instruments (snare drum, drum set, bells, xylophone, timpani, chimes, cymbals, auxiliary, etc etc)

Languages: English, and I’m learning Korean (nowhere near fluent, however)!
