Hmmm... very interesting to me that Taylor Swift is trending rn and yet for some reason no one in that tag is complaining that her trending is taking away from what's going on in Palestine and what's happening in Rafah. And yet for some reason, people couldn't seem to shut up in the Kendrick Lamar tag when he was trending about how the whole beef was just two celebrities beef (it's much deeper than that) and were making up theories abt how the whole thing was taking attention away from Palestine and everyone talking about it should feel ashamed of themselves (every single account I saw in that tag was posting about Palestine too).

And the thing that's really getting me is that Taylor is trending bc of a change to the Eras tour. An objectively unimportant change to make, especially when compared to what's going on in Rafah. But that's not what gets hate, no, it's the predator getting called out in an industry known for exploitation by one of the biggest artists in said industry. The racism isn't even implicit atp...

because like, the thing about that movie is that it would be easy to dismiss if it were just bad across the board. but there are parts of it that are inexplicably and frustratingly GOOD, both conceptually and in execution, and then the rest of it is just. so bad. SO bad.

...just heard about the upcoming perk changes...hmm...yeah. the only good one definitely is the adrenaline nerf. I've wanted them to take away healing off hook forever.

the other perk changes are ass.

ultimate weapon is still outrageously unfair, even if you take away the screaming! to me, it feels like they just saw the uptick in people using calm spirit following the addition of ultimate weapon, and decided "hm, the way to deal with this is to remove the screaming." no! this perks needs to be reworked differently! given a longer cooldown, something! it does way too much for just one perk!

DS buff isn't going to stop tunnelling. strong killers don't care if you stun them, and weaker survivors likely won't even have DS because it's licensed...waste of a buff. just as they should do with off the record, they need to spread out these important anti-tunnel strategies to general perks. it's so unfair that something this important be gated behind a DLC. and no one perk should ever be too strong!

also, I saw otz's commentary on the changes. I could not agree more that certain killers should be nerfed directly, rather than trying to just balance perks generally. not all killers interact with different perks the same... nurse, wesker, huntress, blight, etc do not care about a stun, even if it's increased in length. you need to change them & how their powers work in relation to stuns, so survivors have a chance to get away from them, rather than buffing the perk so that old man ghostface has an even worse time in this dogshit meta lmao.

There's a discussion about racism in mxtx fan stories/headcanons going around and someone made a comment about not feeling comfortable with people making the northern demons in svsss fanworks mongolian because it falls into 'barbarian coding'. How do you feel about this?

Well, first off: I'm not Asian by any stretch of the imagination, I'm Hungarian. So I don't know enough about how racism manifests in those parts of the world to have a really deep understanding of it. I try to listen to people who know better than I do, but when it comes down to it, I can still only hope that someone will tell me if I mess up. I keep anon open at all times and I have anon comments enabled on ao3 (when it works), I assumed that if I made a really glaring mistake, people would have yelled at me already.

As for In Tune, I haven't really made it explicit so I might have fumbled the intent, but here's the thing: the northern demons in that fic are not Mongolian. They are certainly influenced by Mongolians - they have loan words and other cultural imports - that being the group of humans they interact the most with without strife (at least recently), but the northern demons are a cultural entity in and of themselves. They have their own language and their own culture separate of anything they have picked up from the humans. If we get around to that in the story, I'll try to elaborate on it a little that they have also picked up things similarly from the Jianghu before the blood feud with Huan Hua made them cut ties with that section of the human realm and this is why I deliberately stuck to giving them Chinese names.

The only demons in the story who are supposed to be actually part of an extant human cultural group are the Japanese branch, because the story imagines Japan to have more of an Inuyasha style "the lord in this castle is a human and the lord in that castle is a demon and it sucks because they both want us to pay taxes" kind of situation, where the local demons intermingle much more closely with the humans.

But, at the end of the day, intentions only count for so much, so I really hope people will speak up and tell me if I make a blunder.

I definitely think Ben 10 is a great series if you want to see a super hero series that doesn't have the typical plot points that other heroes have.

Batman is a wealthy man whose parents died in front of him as a kid. Superman is a man whose home planet was destroyed. Spider-Man had to deal with the deaths of his parents and uncle.

But it's completely different for Ben.

As we all know, it started when an alien device did what it did and stuck itself upon his wrist with secrets that it hid so he didn't have to sacrifice anything for his powers. Both of his parents are not only alive but they're well and they don't hate him. He doesn't struggle financially. His school life is pretty normal and his identity (in the later seasons at least) is public.

While I definitely think darker aspects can be important to a character and can keep a story grounded in some type of reality, it's really refreshing to see a character like Ben, a kid who just has super powers.
