Rogue runs from things so much. So. Much. She hides away her problems as best as she can and just sort of internally screams her way through it. If you ask her how she is, she says she is fine.

No, she isn’t fine. Rogue is probably the hardest gosh darn person to comfort because 99% of the time she will not let you take care of her. She can and will say it’s about safety and physical space all she wants, but it’s because of abandonment and fear. Literally the reason why her powers don’t let people touch her. I mean come on the woman’s real name wasn’t even revealed until the 2000’s because she played so close to the vest with things and pushed people away. Only to then be upset she was lonely.

That doesn’t mean she has the best poker face, she very clearly doesn’t. Rogue is passionate and obvious. But Rogue will tell you she’s okay or that she needs time and space and pray that you know it’s a lie. Or maybe she thinks it’s true. The problem is so many people accept those words and give her what she asked for. It’s not their fault she’s messed up and didn’t want them to listen.

What Rogue needs is for somebody to insist upon caring for her. To go the miles that she goes for other people. To not let her run away. To be persistent and prove that she’s not an after thought or an obligation but a priority. To be firm on that fact.
