bit of a silly question here but have you ever gotten afraid to draw in a journal like the one you recently shared? like the idea of using the pages "incorrectly" or "wasting" them (or running out right before you get inspiration that might have been "better" than what you'd jotted down)? your art is INCREDIBLE and I know the best way to improve is to do it, all the time, but I struggle getting started for those sorts of fears, and I want to know if you have tips for overcoming that ^^

Yes I 100% struggled with that in the past; i'm happy to try my best, sharing some personal tips in journaling, specifically! :D

TECHNICAL SIDE:

>> Small simple sketchbook = less intimidating to fill the pages. (Also, easy to carry around)

>> My journal ISN'T a place to prove that I can make pretty pictures. I have separate sketchbooks for that. I use journals to jot down ideas and notes of things I like. (yes i shared a few pages that happened to look nice, but there were 100+ other pages after all d: )

Spontaneous observation is messy and imprecise. But not in a bad way.

Rather than seeing the messiness as "bad/unworthy imperfection," try to see it as a miraculous insight to how you, a unique human being with your unique thoughts and art experience, sees the things you like

My journal process (in general): doodle a pretty cake I ate, a funny bird I saw, some weird dialogue I overheard, stickers, stamps, a character in a book that I want to draw as a dragon,......... scatter them all over the page, then look at the random blocks of empty paper remaining. Fill those up next with another lil quote, or words about the week, or some pretty vines/flowers :) etc. It's like making a collage.

Draw what you actually LIKE + what actually sounds FUN to draw. u can always take photos/save pics of other stuff if it's overwhelming.

>> Find your comfort tools. I love ink. how it looks, feels, etc; I hardly ever use pencil. A sketch that I need to ink over is usually too much work for my journal. I'm just trying to get down ideas before I get bored or get inspired by another thing LOL

[But yeah: pencils can be the perfect tool for someone else. Regular pencils, colored pencils, watercolor pencils... play around with a bunch of basic tools to find your fav.]

EMOTIONAL SIDE:

I highly recommend Lynda Barry's book "Making Comics." She has some lovely, and deeply empathetic things to say about overcoming fear of making "bad" art.

My journal scribblings/therapeutic studies --- someone with 10x the skill could do it better, sure, but they probs wouldn't focus on the same details, or be interested in the same monsters, or be thinking the same thoughts as me.

They won't have the same things to say about their day, won't see the same spindly tree growing from a crumbling brick wall on their walk. etc!

Also! imo this POV isn't an excuse to feel like I don't need to improve my technical skill, but it keeps me happy, fulfilled, and motivated as I'm on that road of improvement. AND it makes me appreciate others' incredible art as their own reflection of the things they love/their own experiences, rather than view it competitively/jealously.

Ashallen is unfussy and practical. I actually do not like most of the armors in the game, even the Dalish ones, but I'm too lazy to look at mods. She's a Veil Ranger, so she's very much in the stereotypical "Ranger" mode, with her artifact-repair/dismantling kits. (She's not a mage so all of it is tinkering based - I had to find artificer-type pictures, and realized there's a need to figure out what a rogue or warrior Veil Jumper would carry or do.) But if she needs to gussy up (say, if Emmrich brings her to a fancy Nevarran event) she likes carrying the colors and motifs of Arlathan with her.

Bonus, AU outfits: she's literally just leggings and big shirts/sweaters, but the same principle for dressing up would apply. She'd be that friend who could open your laptop and change out keyboards and other innards, as long as it wasn't TOO technical (that's a Bellara job), or do basic to mid-level repairs on your car, but she's always got a cracked phone screen. Doesn't give a shit. "I'll just drop it again anyway."

been lovin the transformers art!! Rly inspired designs. I’ve been a recent fan to it all, started w g1, beast wars and now onto animated - and loved the secondary media too like comics and games. but anyways, super curious - are you pro human characters, and if so who’s your fav?? Thank you! And yes I am ok with humans being in transformers, I quite like the idea actually. Just the humans befriending aliens or something alike trope is great to me, very cute, I love the bonding moments, the human teaching the transformer about Earth and vice versa

However, I do not like when the human included.. is a child. Because like..why is a kid being involved? Yes sometimes a kid being there is fine, like Cody Burns in Rescue Bots, amazingly done, but a lot of the time it’s not sadly.

Like in Tfp, yes it may have started out..ok..but it quickly turned into..well..not the best, as in Optimus sending a CHILD to another planet to restore his (Optimus’) memory?? Said child almost getting killed by an Insecticon AND Megatron in the process..like..Optimus why?

Cybertron/Galaxy Force had a similar issue, started good but got worse as the show continued, like Optimus and all the others were very opposed to these kids getting involved, they were really only there to bond with, help teach the bots about Earth, and help locate the omega lock, and they made that VERY clear- As shown in this funny clip

But then everything changed when Coby went to the Speed Planet 😔💔

ANYWAY- all this to say, humans being involved is great! It’s just kids being there that can be a bit of an issue. Kids can be there, I understand it’s for the younger audience, but don’t treat the CHILD like they’re some huge help and one of the most important ones there when they aren’t, do stuff like they’re there because..idfk one of the bots adopted them, THATS THEIR KID!! THEY WILL PROTECT THEIR KID!!! Like how that was done in Tf Victory from what I can see didn’t know Starsaber had a kid

Or idk, use Rescue Bots, or surprisingly RID15 as reference, the kids aren’t getting involved, but they’re there, friends of the bots and maybe helping them better understand Earth! But not getting involved in a war. They may be defiant at times (Russell) but they still don’t really get involved

Also there currently isn't any planned main character romance in the story with the toy guys (sort of) but I was thinking abt how I wanted to establish that Raiden is a men liker and I realized. There's no men. None of the relevant cast are men. The closest thing is a character who barely exists in the main plot who's also sort of dating their mom. Misandry is real guys and it's finally won

I know it's kinda dumb saying this after I deleted my old blog, but if there were any fics you guys particularly liked that you wanted continuations of, please just let me know. Each one of my fics, even the shorter ones, have a lot of lore saved up in my brain. Even if I apologize that the fics weren't the best, I still do feel fondly toward each one. Tbh if I'm able to make you guys happy, I'm happy.

On that note, I know this may be hard to believe, but I AM planning on getting all my fics up on Ao3. I just.... don't spend much time on Ao3 and have a hard time understanding how to tag things (sue me I was raised with fanfiction.net). Tbh I wanted to upload all of my short fics under one the "Reader/Various" tag without anything else, but my friends told me, "absolutely not" and put a quick stop to that. So instead I'm being forced asked to upload everything separately into their own individual works.

I'm not sure if any of you guys would be interested, but if you're acquainted with tagging on Ao3, would any of you guys be interested in helping me? No pressure or anything. You'll get access to all the works I put up on my previous blog. And there wouldn't be a time limit either. Hell, you can just do the fics you want me to upload and nothing else. -There is only one canonical straight shot timeline that technically erases the prologue from existence. When looping back the previous timeline is completely overwritten, like saving over your save file in a game! It's all gone! Despite this, when you start a new game you're making an entirely new Siffrin to torment. So at least you're not making the same Siffrin go through hell again and again! *sweeps Loop under rug* Don't look at that. Don't worry about them. They're fine.

-While wish craft and other craft types are described to have a smell, time craft does not! I mean, what would time craft even smell like anyway? Clocks???

-Mirabelle's time freeze immunity will wear off eventually!

-Loop could actually be still comfortable with He/They. While the time loops did put them through it, the They/Them was mostly for anonymity. But there WAS some sort of identity shift. So you can and should have fun with Loop pronouns. Do it! Do it!!!

-Despite the island being forgotten, it's still physically there the entire game and before that! So it being lost is purely anti-memetic fuckery. It is just censored out by the universe.

-Loop and Siffrin sitting quietly together was originally a bug where ID5 accidentally softlocked Siffrin and trapped him at the tree. They thought it was a sweet moment of respite and implemented it.

-There was originally a love triangle between proto Mira, Isa, and Sif before Mirabelle was made aroace. It probably would have ended in an OT3/polycule situation. So QPR MiraIsaSif truthers out there, enjoy this one.

-The idea of Loop being Siffrin came about during saap's developement. Originally the guide for isat was going to be one of ID5's ocs.

-Change God knows everything about meta because they are a God. Loop only gets a smidgen of meta knowledge, however.

-Loop's ability to see what Siffrin is up to works the same way their calls work! The farther Siffrin is, the harder it is. So Loop calls stop working past snack break 3, and Loop can barely see past the King.

-Isabeau wouldn't play video games. He touches grass.

-Siffrin was subconsciously inspired by Snufkin, from The Moomins. So we wouldn't have Siffrin as he is if everyone wasn't rabid over Moomins a few years back.

-Sadnesses ARE are a constant in the world of isat. They only become more common and poweful during times of great duress, like war or Insane False Monarchs with timey wimey powers

-The doppleganger wish in the selfcest book happened "a long time ago" and is only a child's tale now.

-Odile's name is her given name. Kinda. (No elaboration on what the fuck THAT means.)

-Siffrin only got memory issues after leaving home. They were not a forgetful child.

-At one point before they had names, Isabeau was just called "dude".

-While only called scrawny in game, Adrienne calls Siffrin "deathly thin". Metabolism monarch out here. (Probably all the casual wish craft.)

-The reason the party stops reacting to Sif's poking is just because it's tragic and makes things worse for him. That's it. The universe just hates him.

-Everyone but Odile would like rollercoasters.

-Just... this. This is so funny. Also Loop being the final boss while Siffrin is the secret final boss... Also Loop confirmed deity looking!!!

-"comic!siffrin is a whole different siffrin than game!siffrins sadly. rip to them. still stuck in time" WAY TO FUCK ME UP ON A MONDAY? Comicfrin is still stuck in time.

-The characters have official voice claims but not a single one is serious except for the King's. Mira sounds like Animal crossing isabelle(isa.belle. hm.). Bonnie sound like a inkling from splatoon (ID5 specifically used the female inkling as example). Odile sounds old. Isabeau quantum mechanically sounds flamboyantly gay or like All Might from MHA. Loop sounds like stock glitter sound fx. No Siffrin voice claim. Siffrin has video game protagonist voices which means they sound like whatever you want.

-Loop's glow is comparable to a lamp. Not enough to hurt the eyes.

Siffrin and Friends Q&A time!!(Beware these are SEMI-CANON)

-Siffrin isn't really a trap master. They're just fast enough to activate and dodge the traps.

-Odile doesn't like fennel.

-Fave flowers! Bonnie=Sunflowers, Odile=Orchids, Mira=Lavender, Isa=Roses, Siffrin=None, dubiously answered with dandelions however.

-Sif is a night owl, Bon and Mira are early birds, and Odile and Isa are average.

-Siffrin and Odile have probably eaten crabs and would tempt Bonnie with their sinful ways of consuming crustaceans.

-Odile has been traveling for about 2 years.

-Odile knows how to play a shamisen. It's one of her favorite instruments as well.

-When prompted with competition Loop and Siffrin stare each other down like "kids about to throw hands".

And finally random trivia I found while sniffing through the wiki!

-Salty broths actual cure 6 cooldown, instead of 2 like the dialogue implies.

-Chateau means castle. The cursing of castle castle...

-The Change God face with six eyes and a cat-like mouth is inspired by ID5's oc Eye Gal

-The only time tears can freeze Siffrin with no warning is in saap. By using the second Star Crest to clear one of the rows of Tears, you can just walk into the second row and freeze.

-The dev's older notes mention specific shades being used for hair dyes but they're never mentioned in-game because of the an unadded event.

-In ACT 2, there's a small chance Siffrin says "Heheh… Bonk." when activating the switch for the rock trap

-Saap Bonnie thinks nuts are gross according to some unused dialogue, but enjoys raisins.

-During early development in saap tears were originally intended to be spike traps. A left over sprite of Siffrin being impaled does exist, including minor blood spurt. This was probably changed because it was a little too gruesome, ID5 definitely tried to reel in the darker concepts and has stated they went too dark sometimes.

-Loop turning back into Siffrin was considered long enough for them to get an entire animated walking sprite.
