god, one mild problem of asking friends who don't draw a lot for criticism is that They Don't See Shit. I'm obviously going to be Extra Critical of my own art and that's why I ask for their advise, but they just tell me it's pretty without warning me that one arm had a very fucked up anatomy or the chair I had straight up forgotten to draw for a good while.

I told them the thing was done (I meant a fucking table I had procrastinated to draw for eons and was a blue sketch in all those wip updates) while all the characters were still just colored sketches and the chair was missing and they just didn't see it; they rolled with the drawing as is.

They're wonderful people, but they are definitely not the people to go to for actual art advise and it's a bit annoying tbh

"I know that face." Her voice is low, raspy from sleep, but still playful. He floats above her, caught in the act. Morning sunlight slits through the cracks in the blinds he's trying to close. She's been so tired lately, is what he doesn't say, so busy and drained of energy. He wants her to be able to rest fully, as much as she needed, in the way where he'd threaten a solar eclipse if the sun dared disturb her on her first day off in so long.

"Taylor, you're so dear to me. Thank you." She says, simply, sincerely. Her smile is warmer than sunrays, "It's okay, you don't have to. Sun's good for me, in the winter."

"Ah. Okay, okay." So he leaves the blinds, slightly ajar. No solar eclipse then, if his love prefers the light. The dark of the room is warmly hued, tinged with mellowed gold. He hovers awkwardly, wings slowly flapping to keep him uncertainly afloat.

Wordlessly, she raises a wing and an arm towards him, an invitation, a request. Slowly, carefully, he lowers himself beside her. With much less care, she unceremoniously tosses the blanket over him so they're sharing, and he grins, ducking his chin beneath the covers.

He lets a wing drape over her, covering his charge, his human, his partner. In turn, she intertwines a hand with him and closes her eyes. Safe, content, trusting.

"I love you." She says, squeezing his hand gently.

"I love you." He returns, and they doze until the alarm wakes them properly.

Okie dokie I spun the wheel and we landed on 'hannibal lecter charmeine moment' ! yes that is actually what I titled it. I just got this idea of Charmeine biting a kid at school and Dean having to go pick her up and it spun out of control, I have yet to try and reign it in. But we also get John interacting with the kids finally and it makes me want to write nothing else ever again, just domestic John forever.

John offers Dean a small wave as the five year old races forward to greet her big brother. Caleb narrowly avoids the ice cream in her hand as he kneels down to hug her.

"What are you doing here?" Caleb asks, scooping Charmeine up and standing again as she wraps around him like a baby koala.

"Your sister decided to pull a hannibal at school so I had to go pick her up," Dean informs him, bouncing Ace lightly as the toddler babbles at him, small hands reaching for Caleb.

"And you gave her ice cream for biting someone?" Caleb grins, walking up to his father and bumping his forehead against Ace's in greeting. The toddler squeals in delight and swats at his freckled cheeks, noises almost close to his name escaping him.

"The kid looked like he deserved it honestly," Dean muses, readjusting his squirming child in his arms. Caleb sets Charmeine back down and takes his brother from his arms, Ace instantly wrapping his small, pudgy arms around Caleb's neck and plopping his head onto his shoulder.

"Dad!" Caleb chides gently, smiling despite himself as Dean grins down at him.

"If you saw him you would agree with me,"

John can barely hide the smile growing behind his palm and his short laugh turns the brunettes attention to him. His playful grin turns bashful under John's gaze and he ducks his head down for a moment to avoid it. Feigning fixing Ace's hat before looking back at him.

"I promise I don't encourage my kids to bite people, just in case you got that impression somehow." He chuckles, a somewhat nervous tinge to his voice. All that charisma that surrounded him when he spoke to his children fizzled a small bit as he addressed John. He was hoping that would change over time, if John played his cards right Dean might warm up to him and feel more comfortable around him sooner rather than later.

"Oh no not at all, I'm sure it was completely justified," John grins, hoping being equally as light hearted would help the other man relax. It seems to do so, Dean's smile melting into something more genuine as Caleb snorts loudly.

"What's justy—justif—justefed mean?" Charmeine asks, her big blue eyes blinking up at John as she struggles with the foreign word.

"It means the boy you bit did something to make you bite him," John responds patiently, kneeling down to her level and smiling as her face lights up before twisting into a comedic look of anger.

"He did! He kept pulling my pigtails!" She exclaims, hands flying wildly as she jumps in place and gestures to her perfectly neat hair, no doubt fixed by her father.

"Oh well that's that then isn't it? And you warned him no doubt?" John responds, holding his hands out in question and trying not to smile as the little girl nods aggressively; her pigtails all but slapping her due to the quick motion.
