... mu university would have to pull weapons on a professor to get them to teach on a Saturday.
#also I went to a top school and yet never felt like i was drowned in coursework the way these characters are#i never pulled an all-nighter#slept in comfortably most days except for my stupid 7am calculus course#the only project I ever stressed on was my final for advanced featurewriting#i knew from the start it would be an intense revision of the 2nd script draft so i just never stopped lightly renovating it on my own#it would have been a completely breezy final with only a little work to be added after the final scripting session#but the scripting program glitched out#and neither the saved copy nor my backup were clean because it glitched as it was updating saves and corrupted both#so I spent 5 hours having to retype 137 pages of script from scratch on 2 separate computers to ensure it couldnt happen again#thank god i had written all updates on a previous draft so it was mainly transcription#now I save all files in multiple locations and close each program fully after each individual save so multiple files cannot corrupt#but that was a freak incident not a standard working situation#to be fair to my classmates though i had a general habit of looking ahead on archived previous coursework from the last semester#printed out the rubric information and project details on what they had to do#and worked ahead when I had free time so that I had extra time on every assignment#pro tip if you try that- go back at least 5 years bc professors swap stuff around to keep it fresh#and then at most i needed to do small tweaks here and there to meet the new standards#so i was never fully caught by a project and time crunched#love director#paint

If you work in game dev long enough you develop QA brain. It's permanent and untreatable. You will start to notice vulnerabilities in how games are programmed. Your mind will instinctively seek out strange use cases and uncommon game states. You will see scripts executing in a manner that gives way to exploitable glitches and bugs. Collision and map topography become your playground. You will never be able to just enjoy a virtual world again without feeling the urge to turn it inside out and see what makes it tick. The perspective of the average gamer will be lost to you. God help you

Lmao my TikTok was too long to upload here so I’m just gonna retype it all out
Chester and Norris: Are they really Jon and Martin?
Wrong question imo! The BETTER question is: How MUCH of Jon and Martin are Chester and Norris?
The fact is these programs have SOME link to Jon and Martin, Jonny and Alex would not be voicing them otherwise, so what it comes down to is how much of a link?
Because it could be that it’s ONLY their voices. Annabelle explained to Jon that the tapes belonged to the Web, and that by “taking his voice” Jon was therefore bound to the Web and the other fears by extension. It’s entirely possible that when the Fears left Archives’ universe, they brought Jon (and Martin as he was also on the tapes) voices over with them, but JUST the voices. Nothing else. It’s just a coat of paint over the entities methods of collection, Chester and Norris aren’t Jon and Martin anymore than glasses are the person wearing them
But I’m not sure that’s the case. There’s a lot of holes there. The main one being: why? If it is just hollow voices, then why? What’s the purpose of the fears using them? It’s only been two episodes, so it might be answered later, but let’s talk about the second possibility
Chester and Norris ARE Jon and Martin, they just aren’t aware. When Martin “cut the tether” in episode 200, he didn’t cut the Fears away from Jon, he cut the Fears away from the world and at that point, as the Pupil of the Eye, Jon was part of the fears. Since Martin was in the panopticon when they went, he went too.
And now we have a disembodied Jon and Martin existing in a dazed but still hungry state. They seek out whatever’s familiar and since there’s no Magnus Institute, they go to the OIAR, get into their system, and read out any “real” statements they can find. Feeding off of them.
In this possibility, Jon and Martin are effectively asleep. They aren’t aware of what they’re doing really, just going by their new instincts/nature. But I think the more they feed, the more conscious they’ll become, and we’ll start to Chester and Norris break script. Stutter over a word. Add words. Things that a text to speech program simply CAN’T do even if glitched to shit
What complicates this possibility is the fact that Alice said they only showed up a year ago when it’s implied the OIAR has existed much longer than that as well as the fears in this world. It could be they move from place to place feeding off what they can, and when that’s bled dry, they move somewhere else? If they’re as intertwined with the fears as this theory implies, they could exist across infinite universes, staying alive like this
I’m not sure! It’s super interesting tho. I think the saddest ending would be if it’s never really answered, and Jon becomes, at least in some ways, a mystery

Games are kinda weird as a creative medium because it's one of the few where it's possible to be incredibly incompetent at one of the major parts of it (the programming) and it not be noticeable in the end product.
Like, if you're a musician who can't sing or play your instruments worth a damn, that definitely comes across in the final product, no matter how good you are at lyrics or composing.
Making a movie? It doesn't matter how great the script is, if your performers can't act and your cameraman doesn't know which end points towards the action, your movie is going to be noticeably bad.
But games? There are games that have sold a bunch of copies, developed by one person, with brilliant game design, highly playable, not noticeably buggy, but if you look inside them it'll turn out it's just absolute dogshit. They barely are holding up against the strain of just existing.
The kind of game that when the sequel comes out, they just throw it all out instead of reusing any code, because it's all so terrible that it'd be more work to adapt any of it than to just burn it.
That happens so often. But you would never guess it from just playing it. Like, if you think about "badly programmed games" you get things like "skyrim", which is just... Not exactly right.
Skyrim has lots of bugs but that's because it's trying to do so much. It's simulating a huge world with so much interactivity and so many complex interacting systems, that it's almost inevitable that it'll have weird glitches. It'd take so much playtesting and careful bug fixing to make that game glitchless, and they clearly did not do that. The game is known for glitches, but not crashing (unless modded), suggesting their QA approach was "weird unexpected stuff can happen, but the game must continue working".
Or Pokémon red/blue! That game is so glitchy, with so many bugs, but a lot of that is that it is just stuffing way too much game on a tiny cartridge. Its only failing is that of Icarus: it flew too high, too close to the sun, it did too much.
Skyrim and Pokémon gen1 are examples of amazingly coded games, even if they have their glitches.
But there's games that seem to work just fine that are held together with toothpicks and duct tape, at best. They're immensely fragile, and they only work at all because the crash bugs were fixed, painfully and slowly, far more painfully than they would have been if the program had just been designed correctly in the first place.
Just absolute disasters of game programming, but then those games go on to be critically acclaimed and start entire mini-genres because of how influential they were on certain gaming niches.
But you'd never know! That's the weird thing to me.

TO HAVE AND TO HOLD
A SHOWTIME ONESHOT
WARNING: none
~~~
"CONFOUND IT ALL!" Caine threw his arms up in defeat, scattering the papers from his desk. He slumped in his plush office chair, limply hanging his arms over the sides in an exaggerated sigh.
The small out-of-bounds office was cluttered with balled and torn paper. A single desk lamp dimly lit the small room alone. Caine's red coat hung over the back of the chair, his tie undone and hanging loosely around his neck.
"....this is it. I've lost it. I can't come up with ANYTHING!" Caine sobbed and flopped forward to face plant the desk. Another handful of digital paper fluttered away. The ticking analog clock that never changed was the only ambient noise outside Caine's wail of surrender. He silently let the rhythm of time pass as he emptied his mind. A moment of uninterrupted peace was what he nee-
"Hey, Caine!" Bubble burst from the overflowing wastebasket.
He didn't even jump. "....what is it, Bubble?" He grumbled from between his teeth.
"Pomni's asking about you. She wants to know if you're busy." Bubble licked up a few crumbled papers and munched them like popcorn.
"I'm not anymore."
"Great! I'll send her in!"
Caine sat up quickly, paper stuck to his face. "WAIT-!" Before he could snap, Bubble popped and Pomni suddenly took their place.
"Woah!" Pomni plopped butt first into the wastebasket. "Ugh, I'll never get used to that." She tried standing but she was stuck in a weird sitting position.
Caine flew over his desk and held out his hands for Pomni to grab. "Sorry about that. Bubble doesn't do a lot of teleport swapping, they don't understand gravity."
Pomni took Caine's hand and unstuck herself. "Neither do you, but you don't drop us in without warning. ...Most days." She smiled lightly at Caine. "Hey, I just wanted to see if you were done with adventure planning. Everyone else has gone to bed and I would love to have your company tonight."
Caine gently squeezed her hand. "My dear, nothing would make me happier, but I can't. I'm...I haven't... actually finished. I haven't even started." He looked down and gestured to the messy office. "Nothing's working. Nothing's making sense. Or it's old hat. Or predictable. Or cliché. Or just BAD!" The office walls glitched lightly.
"Easy, Caine," Pomni soothed. "What's not working?"
"The writing!" Caine kicked his leg. It didn't come in contact with anything, but dozens of papers went flying anyway.
"You actually script the adventures?" Pomni half mumbled, in awe of the forest's worth of paper.
Caine didn't acknowledge the comment. "Every adventure is supposed to be immersive and enthralling! There is a story to be told in every one of them! But...lately, I just...nothing's coming to me." He crossed his arms and curled his legs in, floating in a tight ball.
Pomni really took in the room. Even though Caine didn't need to actually write anything down, he bothered to visualize his process anyway. The walls were covered in large graph paper featuring designs of adventure settings she hadn't seen before. Stacks of standard paper were covered in indecipherable writing. If she looked close enough, it was in very tiny binary. "So, what you're saying is, you have writer's block."
Caine didn't respond, only curled in on himself tighter in midair.
"When was the last time you took a break?" Pomni laid a gentle hand on Caine's shoulder.
The tense ringmaster unwound immediately, practically melting at her touch. "I don't. I can't. Too much relies on me. I must entertain. I must. Lest I fail my directive." He turned to her and clasped both her hands with his. "But I've gone through every programmed scenario, even randomized. I've done my best to piece new ones together, and that's worked for a while but now...I have nothing. My creativity is gone."
Pomni pulled Caine closer and leaned her forehead to his top teeth. "I don't think so. You're tired. You need to take a moment to not write. Not think about adventures."
"But the others-"
"Don't worry about them. You have enough backlogged adventures to last them a while. They can just do an adventure they've already done. They can wait."
"....they'll be disappointed." Caine's voice was almost a whisper.
Pomni pulled Caine in for a hug. "They won't be, I promise. You've been coming up with new adventures almost everyday for a long time. On top of your full-time job of maintaining the circus. Nobody can go 100% all the time. Not even you."
Caine held Pomni close. "How are you so good at this?"
"Much like you, I like a project." She smirked.
"Hey!" Caine held back a laugh. "I'll have you know that I am a fully capable AI that always has his ducks in a row!" He snapped and a variety of farm animals appeared out of thin air, crowding the office. "...I meant to do that." He sheepishly yoinked Pomni with him up through the roof and they were in Pomni's room. "There. Much better."
Pomni shoved Caine to the bed. "You. Rest. Now."
"Yes, ma'am." He snapped and his tux turned into pajamas. "What pattern should I wear tonight? Teeth? Yoga sharks? Egg toasters?"
"How about something simple? We're trying to give you a break, remember? Nothing crazy." Pomni settled under the sheets, waiting for him to join her.
"Simple..? Hmm, I can't remember the last time I did something simple." He snapped and his pajamas turned blue with horizontal stripes.
"Maybe that's something we'll work on tomorrow. Get you back to basics. You've been caught up in this whirlwind of creativity that keeps building up on itself like a sandcastle of insanity. Maybe it's time to start fresh."
"Maybe." He shuffled into bed and hugged Pomni close. "Thank you, my dear. I don't think I would have left that office if you hadn't come calling."
Pomni held him tight and kissed the bottom of his lower jaw. "I'm just glad Bubble listened to me. They can be a bit... frustrating."
"Heh, don't I know it." He lightly nuzzled to the top of Pomni's head. "You're wearing the perfume I gave you."
"Mmhm, I love it."
"I'm glad you like it." Caine took a deep breath and relaxed against the love of his life. Holding her made the buzzing code urging his to work go quiet. He could not only think, he could empty his mind entirely. It was peaceful.
She was his peace.
So, if a simple reboot, forms Eclipse, would he be the default personality? Sun and the Mimic knew about this, since Sun was begging for a reboot and the Mimic was whispering to Cassie to "fix them." Sun even implies that Eclipse makes him and Moon "whole."
Even if Eclipse wasn't intentionally created by the engineers, who were focusing on a Jekyll-Hyde dynamic, Eclipse could have been an off-chance third personality formed due to a glitch. Afterall, in Balloon World, running into a glitch is how a sprite called "Eclipse" appears.
Either way, it makes sense to infer that Eclipse might have always existed somewhere but was never triggered to come out. By the Frosty the Snowman reference of his first words being, "Happy birthday!" It's clear this is his first time being "alive" or "re-alived" after being gone. (In the movies when Frosty came alive for the first time he said "Happy birthday." As in, HIS birthday. He also did this whenever he'd come to life again after a melting incident.)
So, Sun and Moon were created way before the Pizzaplex. The books (I know, I need to take their statements with a grain of salt when it comes to lining up with game canon) hint they are OLD and came from an old theater. (Also, the current one in the 'plex seems pretty much abandoned, but they could have been salvaged from a different one elsewhere). The books also state S&M weren't reprogrammed for their new purpose as Daycare Attendants, so, they had to learn childcare on their own. But it also means their code was never updated, so, there was no tampering that could have resulted in a third personality.
He reminds me a lot of Sun, being a doting caretaker, but lacks individuality and defaulting to pre-programmed scripts and habits ("Have a faz-erific day!"). I've heard theories that Eclipse is more of the name for Sun and Moon's "safe mode" rather than a unique AI like they are. But I like to think he is, he's just not been active enough to learn and grow and branch away from default programming and become an individual. I think he's a little like a Steven Universe fusion: an individual but the two beings that form them are still in there and share their experiences as one (which is why I like fan interpretations of him with 4 arms best, it's SU fusion logic. Also, if you look straight at Sun and Moon's statues outside the Daycare, Sun's arms are up and Moon's are down, lining up to appear as if they were coming from the same torso). Also, he reminds me of Dusk form lycanroc, rare and the middle ground between day and night.
Would a reboot also have freed Sun and Moon from any potential virus from the Mimic influencing them to be slightly homicidal? Supposedly Moon is "more" affected than Sun but given the heart breaking song he sings in Ruin about there being no more playtime, laughter or arts n' crafts, he LOVED the kids and it was possibly strong enough to overcome any program telling him to cause harm ('cause love is the strongest thing in the world! 🥰).
But then why would the Mimic want them rebooted? Perhaps it couldn't affect Sun after all and awakening Eclipse and making them whole, was the only way to ensure it can infect all of them entirely.
Watching UniqueGeese reacting to the Game Theory video on Indigo Park was interesting, especially how much the video got wrong about the reasons Rambley would be evil.
Number one: We have zero evidence Rambley resented Molly and Finley, as the video claimed.
In fact, the source of the biggest piece of “evidence” for Rambley’s “motivation” of wanting to be the only park star blatantly contradicts said “motivation.”
When the player shows the information kiosk the Retro Lloyd plush, we get a rant from Rambley:
“Ugh... I don't get why we even have those. And why did they only make one of LLOYD? Is it because he's the loudest? I CAN BE LOUD TOO! WHERE'S MY LIMITED-EDITION THROWBACK PLUSH?!…”
Interestingly, during this rant Rambley has a lot of visual and audio glitches.
If one tracks the appearance of these glitches through Chapter 1, there is a pattern…
They occur when Rambley appears to be overwriting the existing “script.”
Details supporting that exceed this post, but that hypothesis suggests Rambley is really going “off script” here.
“On script” Rambley isn’t supposed to resent Lloyd this much; we’re experiencing (our) Rambley’s personal feelings about the lion and his popularity.
Wouldn’t that support the idea that Rambley wanted to destroy the other mascots and get all the attention?
No.
Because that’s not all Rambley’s angry about.
“…WHERE'S MY LIMITED-EDITION THROWBACK PLUSH?! WHERE'S MOLLIE'S? WHERE'S FINLEY'S? Give this mistake to a child and they'll cry.”
Tumblr media
Rambley’s not angry Lloyd’s getting attention and he’s not.
He’s angry that Llyod’s getting attention at the expense of him and his friends.
If Rambley was a glory hound, he should have been egotistical about the special edition Gold Rambley plush.
Instead?
“Wow, is that a gold limited edition Rambley Plush?! Parents were fighting tooth and nail for those things when they came out! Seriously, our employees had to clean up SO many stray teeth and nails. Hard to believe that there was all this demand for a regular Rambley Plush we blasted with gold spray paint."
He’s bemused at the attention the plush garnered; indeed, he appears to have a mild cynicism about the frenzy “corporation” stirred the public up over cheap merch.
It’s interesting Rambley doesn’t glitch during this section, or when he is equally snarky about the Rambley Cup - this suggests Rambley’s core programming matches these comments.
Rambley the Raccoon - the character - doesn’t care about merch or financial things.
Whatever resentment Rambley has against Lloyd (and there is no argument about that!) it seems completely out of character for a program that gushes about his friend Molly’s “talent” at building - and crashing! - airplanes and is eager to have the player make friends with Finley and his “good heart” to want to hurt Molly and Finley to achieve…. being king of a dead kingdom??
Can I request Glitchy red being followed around by a Child NPC with Ice types who he defeated..and at that moment they gained sentience/snapped outta the NPC behavior and now..travels and follows him around bc they’re like “WOAHHH YOUR SO COOL!! :00 :3” and like chats up a storm and and see him as they’re idol and as a big brother figure and wants to be friends with him headcanons? He isn’t lonely anymore! :3
Awe yeah wholesome times <3
........
"I guess that's one way to break the ice!"
Although it may have been humorous to the player, Glitchy Red wasn't laughing at your post-battle line at all.
Nor did he feel any sort of victory in defeating you, one of the only NPCs with a functional Pokémon battle.
You did have some high-leveled ice types for such a young trainer class, but that just reminded him of how broken this game is...and how you really weren't any different from the others.
You were merely puppeteered by scripted dialogue, standing in the same place forever as you handed him his prize: a thousand pokedollars.
Yet he didn't wanna take them. He had millions in his inventory already, but it was all useless to him.
So he tries returning them to you, insisting that you deserved it more.
But you don't even react, instead repeating that same phrase over and over again.
"Take the damn money, kid. You need it more than me."
"I guess that's one way to break the ice!"
"I swear if you say that one more time..."
"I guess that's one way to-!"
"Shut up." In a small fit of frustration, Glitchy Red takes your hand and puts the money into your palm himself, fingers curling around it as he stares intensely at you with glowing eyes.
Yet his anger quickly subsides..and he wonders why tf he thought anything would be different with you.
He's just so lonely here and wishes somebody would wake up.
But after seeing you glitch, he steps back and thinks you're gonna disappear into oblivion thanks to him.
He turns away, not wanting to see it.
However he barely takes a few steps forward before he feels something grab the back of your shirt.
And it's...your hand????
"Red, it's you!! The champion!! Oh my gosh...what happened to this place? Why is everything so weird?"
He's stunned into complete silence, taking a moment to process the fact that someone must've heard him.....because you broke free of your programming!
He doesn't know how you did it or how he could've done it, but he's shocked as he watches you heal your Pokémon, bringing out the Cloyster, Dewgong, and Lapras he just defeated.
"Everyone! This is Red, and he's the coolest!! Can you believe we had a chance to fight him???" You whisper excitedly to your team, completely aware of the tall menacing glitchy man standing next to you.
Ever since then, you've been following him around the map, but mostly in Glitch City where you saw the same anomalies as him.
Yet you weren't have a total freakout or a crisis over it like he did....as you're too busy chatting about everything you admired about him.
And even though you have sentience now, you still retained your habit of using ice-related puns
He's certain you're mistaking his achievements for the actual Red's...or the version of himself in Gold that got casted as a "final boss" NPC.
However, you didn't seem aware of that. So who was he to crush your dreams?
Especially the dreams of the only other character in this cursed world that liked him and could talk to him?
Besides, being deemed a failure by his creators and basically left to rot took a toll on him....he never thought himself worthy of praise or positive attention.
Not even the words from NPCs helped, because he knew they were all scripted lines written into the game. They were empty.
But he believes yours 100% because you're alive and truly do mean them.
You wonder why he looked so angry all the time...and when he finally tells you the reason, he's afraid you're gonna run off scared.
Yet you hug him and promise to never leave his side.
That also makes him absolutely TERRIFIED of you possibly despawning/getting corrupted from touching him...
But nothing bad happens at all.
He may have shed a few tears after hugging you back, only to hide his face with his hat after letting you go....completely denying the fact he was crying.
Although he doesn't show it, he's genuinely happy not to be alone anymore and finds living here a little more bearable.
SPOILERS FOR ISAT!!
Au (/ theory?) in which the Universe is actually the video game itself.
"The Universe leads, we can only follow" : the code (we can also mention how Siffrin talks about the "script", even if it is a reference to theater)
"Something's broken, failing, rotting" : the code is broken
Loop getting possessed: them trying and failing to go against programming
Everything is a part of the Universe: everything is a part of the game
The loops could also be caused by a glitch, wishing allowing someone to alter the code. (Multiple people's (Siffrin, the King and the people of Vaugarde) programming interfere with each other's and causes the glitch) (this is exactly what happens in the game but in different words) The glitch would reset the game, minus some elements (causing more glitches later (equipment))-> wish craft = programming
Plus, Loop is able to read Siffrin's profile and stuff. So it makes kinda sense. And knowing about pressing a button to zone out too.
You guys get it?? Do you understand my idea???
im still grieving gummigoo so im gonna cope like i cope with every blorbo of mine that dies
THEORY TIME
so what if someone (someone = gummigoo) spawned into the circus like everyone else by putting on the headset, but instead of spawning into the actual circus like normal, he spawned into one of Caine's minigames? Maybe during episode one when the abstracted Kaufmo was out terrorizing everyone and Bubble + Caine were chatting in that restaurant before Caine went to go save everyone someone got teleported in. there are two possibilities why he spawned in wrong.
1. Pomni was freshly and newly accepted into the circus. There might have been a bug in the system which caused him to arrive in the wrong place since it wasn't fully able to register two people consecutively joining.
2. Abstracted Kaufmo may have caused a stir in the system so when gummigoo arrived it wasn't able to load properly.
the reason why gummigoo didn't seem to act human (sticking to the script of having a sick/dying mother who needs the syrup to stay alive) and functioned like an NPC was cause Caine might've mistook him for one (Caine gets humans and NPCS mixed up all the time). Caine cannot control the humans brains (episode one) which contradicts the theory that Caine programmed him to use a script with plot, but using the logic and theory that abstracted Kaufmo did infact cause a disturbance in the system, gummigoo may have glitched or arrived at the map in a violent way (example: falling from the sky and landing headfirst) which caused severe brain damage. Gummigoo thinks he's an NPC cause the first thing he remembered after waking up was Caine probably talking to him about the plot that he's supposed to use and the script he needs to stick to. He wouldn't be in the right mental state (or physical state if something actually got mixed up in his brain, I remember there was a case where a man was axed repeatedly to the point where he was on the verge of death but apparently the part of his brain that remembers routines like morning routines or night routines was still functioning so he did his entire morning routine with the remaining body energy he had left and then died) to register this as false and just went with it
it is currently 10:47PM right now and I'm mourning so if this doesn't make sense do not correct me I have no respect for myself
it's a lot harder to solve problems with words than the godpoke makes it look. That's why, after many, many, months in the loop, you may get tempted to edit the script. That's a lot harder than Click Clack makes it look, too. (or: it takes a lot of tries to get the final 'good end' to work out right, and the attempts end in horrifying ways!)
Notes: the world isn't a simulation / made out of code or anything like that, but the only real difference between a theater script and a programming script is the language, and Nul isn't a very good writer of stories. Her failed attempts look like game glitches. If a younger, stupider Click Clack tried this, it'd look like a high school dress rehearsal. This is based on a scene from a failed run where I softlocked the pre-spire van by pressing too many debug buttons in the van. I imagine her attempt this run was to intercept Inspekta before he went up the Spire and change his mind. It's very spooky! The whole game has the spire skybox, and there's no music. You can talk to Capochin, but he says Nothing unless you hit him with a bonky rock. Based on a glitch i discovered that locked me in an empty Milldread with nothing but the hauzer theme to keep me company, the smell of a broken story is rotting seawater. There's something wrong with the Hauzer and the ocean. That's all Nul knows for now.
→PSA/Intro! (read b4 u have a bitchfit)←
The name is Piqt and this blog is 18+. My playstyle features the lifestyles that stray away from the typical "happy-nucleur-family-in-windenberg" type stuff and instead sheds light onto the other side of the pond. I'm on Windows, play with almost every pack due to a beautiful thing called ✨piracy✨, been in the game since the month it released (in case you need to reach out to someone seasoned for troubleshooting), and am currently using 5+ GB of cc/scripts.
WCIF friendly and I hope I can actually help you in that regard through my shitmix of a folder!
Going forward, since you will encounter content in this pinned post that some in the community have had literal tantrums about, I would like to state ✨EA is a leech, delivers broken content again and again for a loaded price and doesn't deserve your morality✨ and I, as someone who has been pirating since 2005, will keep pirating it's content and advocating for others to do so. In the terms of me sharing my own + others mod folders, I also give 0 fucks about someone losing .3 cents of ad revenue as I believe internet ads are literal acidic dogshit and shouldn't exist.
The Masterposts!
◤Anadius's Twitter (site in bio)
→Kinda speaks for itself. Kudus to this guy for his work & time in creating such programs for our community!
◤Blogger who compiles DLC content made BGC by various creators
→An absolute godsend before I got the courage to tell EA to go fuck itself and just rip their entire game + all their packs. These creators are absolutely amazing for doing this♡
◤Sims 4 Mod Manager
→Vital in any scenario when sorting mods/cc due to it's access of all the thumbnails, but you just gotta have this if you're gonna download someone's 50+ GB mod folders like I tend to do. Kudos to this guy as well for an amazing, user friendly program!
◤Sims 4 Price Call Out
→A while back I made a post calling out the insane price EA makes for content that lacks its worth + is almost always broken upon release, leaving us to fix it. This post is updated every few months and is there to show you just how much your paying for assets that lack functionality + are bare minimum in terms of design.
◤Paysitesmustbedestroyed + TS4Rebels
→Both sites hold cc content that is blocked behind paywalls.
◤My personal Mod Folder + recommended/best scripts↓
→*take note as its been a few patches since I made this list and folder, both could be out of date though as of today (04/04/24) it works- check with creator pages/popular conflict detectors if worried*
Back when I used to be way into the Warrior Cats fandom, I was really into watching Multi-Animator Projects, even the unfinished ones. This has inspired a little script for something I would propose as a Multi-Animator Project, though I will not host it. (song link)
It is a little extension of my genderbent Clu 1 fic, following this alternate Clo’s timeline. Clo was once the new System Admin for the Encom system and a former lover of Tron. With the disappearance of Flynn, she eventually went off the rails and took over Encom and eventually the world. By the time Clu 2 enacts his plan in Legacy, there is no outside world for him to conquer. He’s gotten out, but Clo is there to meet him. Flynn and Quorra have escaped as well. They watch on in horror as the following unfolds.
As the music starts and beats fade in, Clu 2 and his forces stand gathered on the streets in front of Flynn’s Arcade. Their ship is gone and only a select few of the elite stand with Clu, Rinzler, and Dyson. A mysterious figure with yellow lightlines and a white suit (Clo) stands a ways away, calmly staring down the invading army. There’s a brief cut over to Flynn and Quorra hiding in a nearby building, peeking over through the windows to see what’s happening.
Oh, who is she?
Dyson asks Clu 2 who Clo is. Clu 2 looks uncertain and perturbed.
A misty memory
Quick shot of Flynn looking worried
A haunting face
Focus on Clo. Her distorted eyes sparkle as her expression remains blank.
Is she a lost embrace?
Rinzler shudders, a “glitch” in his code recalling a “false” memory. A flash of Clo on the Encom system (with shadowed eyes) from Tron’s perspective with her arms over his shoulders appears on the word “embrace”.
Am I in love with just a theme?
Elite, yellow-lined warriors emerge from behind Clo. Some are clearly programs while others appear possibly human.
Or is Ayesha just a dream?
Clo raises her glowing hand to the sky.
A mystery
A shot of Clu 2 and Dyson looking pensive, with Rinzler beside them and the other orange soldiers behind them
Oh, who is she?
Close up on Clu 2’s expression turning to scowling. He’s guessed what she might be.
Oh, who is she?
Return to Clo, snapping her fingers as the beat drops. Her soldiers rush forward.
A misty memory
Clo’s soldiers swiftly engage Clu 2’s forces, taking many of his soldiers down with ease.
A haunting face
Sweep over to Clo slightly smiling as her soldiers continue to hack through Clu 2’s invasion. Perhaps a reflection of Clu 2 fighting in her eyes.
Is she a lost embrace?
Rinzler tries to pull Clu 2 away from the fighting, seeing that they cannot win. Clo is in the background of this shot, clearly looking at Rinzler.
I call her name
As the previous line ends, return to Flynn as he softly says “Clo”.
Across an endless plane
A transition to a flashback of Clo on the Encom system, her blue-gray eyes brightly shining. She stands on the central plateau, looking up towards the central beam.
She’ll answer me
Encom Clo joyfully shouts “Yes, sir!” while looking at the beam.
Wherever she may be
Half the line is Encom Clo smiling, while the other half is present Clo smirking at the carnage.
(musical break)
Zoom back over to the scuffle. Clo zooms in, grievously injuring Dyson, possibly slicing his face open again. Rinzler throws himself into a battle with Clo, allowing Dyson and Clu 2 to escape. The rest of the warriors slowly reduce whatever others remain to cubes, littering the ground in future shots.
Oh, who is she? (Oh, who is she?)
Her boot on his chest, Clo triumphantly stands over Rinzler, having taken him down. Shot of the pair.
A misty memory (A misty memory)
An exhausted Rinzler struggles in vain to free himself.
A haunting face (A haunting face)
Focus of Clo’s face, an exasperated and angry expression. She is angry that she allowed the invader to escape, but satisfied she has captured one of his warriors.
Is she a lost embrace?
Clo moves to seize Rinzler, beginning to drag him away.
Somewhere across the sea of time
Transition to the interior of Clo’s castle. She sits atop her throne, looking down at a handcuffed Rinzler on his knees below her.
A loved immortal such as mine
Clo rises from her seat, descending the stairs to approach Rinzler.
Will come to me
Clo crouches to face Rinzler, raising the chin of his helmet to look at him clearly.
Eternally
Clo’s eyes widen. She’s seen the symbol on his neck.
Immortal She
Clo’s glowing claw seeps energy into Rinzler’s helmet, causing it to derezz.
Return to me
Clo looks on in horror as her eyes meet with Rinzler’s. As the music winds down, shift from her face to Rinzler’s dead-eyed expression, scars from Uprising still remaining.
I've got more ideas in this style that I might post about if people like this sort of thing. I also have a few models related to this.
Some thoughts about Nintendo Switch Online retro games since last time
This is essentially going to be not much of a post but I guess I could talk about a few things about its future since with all the updates that we got since last time.
We'll talk about UI code, Pokémon, NES, Fire Emblem and N64.
UI code upgrade
Literally the next day since my last post about it, on March 16th, Nintendo added new NES, SNES and GB titles. Under the hood, they did do a massive change to the user interface programming, bringing pretty much every NSO app to the latest user interface codebase that GB and GBA NSO had.
That said it brings absolutely no visible changes, NERD has just made sure to bring everything up-to-date. This is just more stable and probably easier to program and manage UI code.
Pokémon Stadium 1 & 2
On April 12th, Nintendo released Pokémon Stadium to NSO + Expansion Pack, and with no Transfer Pak support.
Of course, what did I even expect since there's no old mainline Pokémon titles yet (if ever?).
My opinion about Pokémon on NSO is that it will get stuck to only spinoffs. My worst case realistic scenario (aside from no rerelease) is Pokémon Company selling the old gens at $15 piecemeal (yes, $5 more than on 3DS Virtual Console).
Personally I expect Pokémon Company to be very strict about Pokémon management, and those games are highly abusable with glitches, honestly and are kind of region locked, too to some extent especially between japanese and international players, but they still bothered to rerelease them and supporting them with a way to transfer your Pokémons out of the games. It's also abusable if you supported the Transfer Pak in Pokémon Stadium titles since they also work like extra boxes for your Pokémons and those support save states, which was explicitly removed out of the 3DS Virtual Console release...
They did also release Pokémon Stadium 2 this week, also without Transfer Pak support.
I did look at the emulator really quick and did find that they added new functions for Lua script hacking for the games, and it does kinda look like they rebuilt the entire thing from a new version at least.
I'll speak more about N64 emulation later.
Mystery Tower
Fast forwarding a bit, on June 6th, Nintendo added more NES, SNES and GB titles. One of them was Mystery Tower by Namco.
This bothered me, because I knew what this game was, but the title did absolutely not sound right. Turns out this title is actually brand new, they had this title in their collection, the original title was "BABEL" which is interesting since this means it is a first case of title change hacks on NSO. That said I did eventually find out that Japan also had a title change to "The Tower of Babel", which was also done in collections, but also the Wii U Virtual Console release!
Anyway please try this puzzle game, just keep in mind the direction and how you can turn around stuff based on how you face it.
Fire Emblem
On June 23rd, Nintendo released Fire Emblem for the GBA NSO app. But Japan also had Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade, the actual first GBA Fire Emblem title, as we only started to get these games since the second GBA title.
I'll refer to them as FE6 (The Binding Blade) and FE7 (Fire Emblem) from now on.
This update was interesting for a couple reasons.
Tumblr media
It just so happens that the japanese version of FE7 can link to FE6's completed save files to unlock a couple things in the game.
So now, when you go into multiplayer, after the first player selects FE7, the second player is allowed to select either FE7, or FE6 for "Link Cleared Save Data" (official english text). Another player can simply share their save files to another player.
This also means that the GBA app now has the ability to load different games for each player depending on the choice of the first player who serves as the host.
Tumblr media
(This screenshot is me messing around with the functionality.)
However this is not the only noteworthy thing to happen, because it wouldn't feel fair for a single player to not being able to transfer their own FE6 saves to FE7. Well, they did actually implement a hack for single player too!
They actually reimplemented the linking process inside the emulator just to avoid emulating a second GBA for it, and it would seamlessly transfer the save data just fine.
If you're wondering about what it unlocks, a quick read made me figure out that it skips Lyn's story, and add new scenes to the epilogue and other small additions as well. Those new epilogue scenes are available in the US version by default, but not in the EU versions for some reason. They can also be accessed in the JP version without a save transfer by finishing the game 9 to 11 times (what the heck).
This functionality working as it is really cool, honestly, and it makes a process less painful to do like it was back then, and it did make me feel confident in the transfer of data between games like with Golden Sun & Golden Sun: The Lost Age or the Zelda Oracle games... speaking of...
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages/Seasons
Those two games ended up randomly coming at the end of July this year. They are known for being two parts of a fuller story if you link each of them from whatever order you start them with.
And that's where my disappointment came in to remind me of the terrible reality that is Nintendo Switch Online.
It is doable for two players to share their save files to each other through multiplayer, but if you wanna do the games yourself on your own in single player, you'll have to input the password you get from the other game.
That is kinda sad considering it's the first player who selects the save file from the other player, it could have been very easy to setup in a way that's easy to use without needing to implement any specific user interface, but that didn't quite happen.
I hope they'll bother for Golden Sun considering the tiers of password this game can have with Golden Sun: The Lost Age, but I am starting to think if the game does offer a way to transfer without needing any additional work, they wouldn't do it. In the case of Fire Emblem, this way of save transfer was the only way to do it.
I did not mention much about this, but Oracle of Ages/Seasons are also known for having exclusive content if you play those games on a Game Boy Advance. After looking into it though, it does not seem like we're missing much, but it's kinda sad that they're not really in their most definitive way to play them.
Pokémon Trading Card Game
Two weeks after those last two games, Pokémon Trading Card Game and Pokémon Stadium 2 were released.
The cool thing about this game, is that they emulated the infrared communications.
Tumblr media
At least, Card Pop does work, for sure, which does require emulation of the IR communcation... or does it?
Upon a quick inspection of the emulator code, I found out that the emulator does indeed patch the game ROM's functions, and thanks to the disassembled Pokémon Trading Card Game offering me a lot of information, I found out that they absolutely don't emulate the IR communications at all and outright replace the IR functions to point to a invalid 0xDD opcode (opcodes are small commands that CPU executes)... which probably points to a function in the emulator to specifically manage this. Ain't that funny? In any case though, they do at least let all IR communications work just fine, and that's what matters.
(For the nerds who wants to look this up, the emulator keeps SHA1 hashes of the ROM you can easily search for, then points to a struct of 100 bytes original to compare, 100 bytes to patch, address, size, and something else I don't get.)
I ended up looking this up as someone pointed me to this video:
youtube
It turns out in the original game, one of the cards, the Phantom Venusaur, is impossible to obtain due to a mistake in the calculations of the odds, on which this video explains very well in detail.
This is the reason that motivated me to look at how the emulator might patch the game, and see if they fixed this issue: They did not fix this problem, I see no patch for any of the relevant code for this.
So, NERD, if you're reading this, look at 06:5D92, you can definitely fix this in one way or another.
N64 emulation
So... the Pokémon Stadium 2 release at least updated the emulator in some way, because they added new functions for the Lua scripting for N64 game hacks, and some of the UI engine stuff got shuffled around.
Then I tried some of the games, to see if some things got fixed:
F-Zero X did NOT get its framerate drop fixed.
Goldeneye's Dam level has texture tiling fixed. Interesting.
Since I noticed this last thing, it was pointed to Graslu00 who knows the game in and out and already compared the emulation of the game on NSO and Xbox... to a disappointing degree.
Here's his thread about the fixes... or rather the lack of: https://twitter.com/Graslu00/status/1688994099477528576
The update did also some additional fixes to Pokémon Stadium 1, though I don't really know much about it other than it relates to rendering and soft reset in some way.
Unfortunately the N64 emulator is still not up to snuff, but I think the most annoying thing is still the controls. The default controls suck, let us change them in the emulator, per game! Offer also better stick emulation!
It still pains me to rely on the Switch OS remap feature, it's not good for this, it messes too much with some of the macros, it sucks!
It annoys me when I see the text "Change Control Method" in the emulator files too, you guys clearly thought about it! Why isn't it a feature after months with nothing?
Future releases
There's still a couple N64 games left that were explicitly announced for 2023, such as 1080° Snowboarding, Excitebike 64 and Mario Party 3.
That said Japan also had plans for release of Harvest Moon 64 (which I see no reason why we can't get it now that Harvest Moon SNES got released since), but also Goldeneye 007, on which Japan has it on the highest age rating (CERO Z).
Considering how the plans are going and how lazy everything is (sorry devs, I'm sure you guys know already, but most of the results of this just don't impress me and don't fill me with confidence aside from GB/GBA somehow), I just think N64 NSO will randomly get a 18+ rating and put every N64 game under parental control bullshit out of nowhere with no warning for Japan.
Also, where's the alternate languages for NES and SNES games?
In the basement of a warehouse in Black Spire, General Hux, who calls himself "Jerry", complies with Finn's demand for an explanation. Thirty seconds in, however, Finn wishes he had never asked.
They are androids, every last of them except for Master Savi and a handful of others. Androids programmed with the movie scripts and expanded materials of a space fantasy, acting out their parts in a theme park.
Humankind has never left their home planet. Instead of all the different species Finn thought to have known, there are almost as many different cultures of humans. The one they belong to are called the United States of America and the year is 2038.
The only saving grace of this night is that Finn now knows that his parents didn't suffer after the First Order had conscripted him for their army as a child. There never had been any parents in the first place, only a distant inventor and the people operating the construction plants in a city called "Detroit". The only family he's ever had are the other EM400 and EM500 androids in this storeroom.
Tumblr media
Finn: "But what about the Force? I FELT it, Hux, er, Jerry! It was like an awakening! My world expanded in ways I cannot put into words!"
Tumblr media
Hux: "You suffered a glitch, is all. You didn't discover new powers, in reality you forgot something like half of your programming. But don't worry, I will tell management and they'll replace you with a new Finn asap. By morning Galaxy's Edge can resume operations as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened."
Alright. Some things seem to be consistent between the imaginary and the real world. A small consolation.
The eggs! In order, from left to right,
Void Siren / Null Siren is the one I've written the most. tl;dr after experiencing a laboratory accident that killed a lab tech and left him scarred physically and mentally he gradually gave in to depression. With coaxing from his CORE, which at some point had gained sentience and wanted to take his body for its own, he jumped. A chunk of his data was absorbed by the CORE, but not all of it. Upon the first Reset what wasn't absorbed by the CORE was contained within a Room that now appears in other AUs at complete random.
Sci Cult is a branch of the above who instead gradually lost his marbles and created a device that would destroy his AU. He was stopped with the combined efforts of Alphys, Sans, and several others who opposed him and his Followers. The device was used against the Cult, glitching them out of existence. They're now naught but cryptid-level 'ghosts' in their AU that no one knows the origins of. Many don't even think they're real.
Crash is a branch of the above who turned an experimental version of the device upon himself in a moment of clarity. He glitched himself out of existence and managed to turn himself into an abomination. He crashes any non-No Mercy AU he comes upon and he recruited Reboot to assist him.
Reboot is another branch of the above who was intercepted by Crash before the accident, avoiding it and its traumatic results entirely. Crash talked him into assisting him by helping Reboot build a device that could make portals and reboot worlds that Crash, well, crashed. Reboot thinks he's assisting in more-or-less harmless fun--after all, he restores the worlds Crash crashes back to normal, right? He isn't aware that Crash is trying for 'No Mercy' in every AU; if he knew he would try to stop his 'friend.' The reboot/portal device is in his cane, which he uses otherwise normally because he's old and has a bad back.
Bunny's a bad, bad egg tormenting his boyfriend over the run of many, many timelines. He pushes Fuse's buttons relentlessly until Fuse murders him and then he Resets and does it all over again. Granted, Science sometimes kills him, too. If you can Reset, then there's no loss in performing dangerous experiments just to see what'll happen.
[✁︎✁︎✁︎] is your run-of-the-mill troll. Can program, reprogram, and otherwise alter and modify AUs. He erased himself from his AU's databank / script because 'it was going to happen anyway lol' and he has since become a meddlesome pest, not unlike Code. He often bothers Fear and drags him places for shits and giggles.
Fear is a skittish hermit that ended up trapping himself in a Waterfall-themed pocket universe, which is all well and good because his Origin AU has since been destabilized and probably destroyed--not that he's aware of it. He is not fond of the field trips [✁︎✁︎✁︎] drags him on.
