No...? I mean, I have a Blade Runner au on the backburner of my infinite stove, but I've never put different characters together in a true crossover. I'll be honest... ships are kind of cute adorable plot devices to me. I don't really have a favorite per se, but I do tend to prefer Chreon, Metaltango, and Nivannedy! I like Clairejill and I'm pretty invested in Ada/Hunnigan right now hehe but none of them really stands out as the OTP, y'know?

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Not sure! I tend to jump around and abandon and revive things a lot, so it's honestly just up in the air. I'm loath to put one on the chopping block, but I have my doubts about this one (OG!) re4 fic where Leon passes out during the cabin fight

16. What are your writing strengths?

I've been told that I have a very visceral writing style by several people, and I do often get compliments on how well I've made something feel real/captured a specific feeling! Which is a huge compliment you guys are so nice 🥺 and I do like to think that I'm good at descriptive writing!! I see things very clearly in my head and it's gratifying to know I'm getting it across fully :)

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I tend to go at it without figuring out where I'm going, first. Plots are held together with a dab of white glue and some fraying string, and I often worry that I'm not putting scenes together coherently. I can do all the technical stuff just fine, but I really struggle with pacing and character motivations and foreshadowing and background etc, which I think is why I tend to write shorter fics!

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

It's rarely worth it, unless there's some sort of narrative significance or I get to use my Latin knowledge for some silly villain 😭

Favourite friendship: i think mob and reigen are fun as friends :) especially as they grow older, i think the dynamic would be fun. also teru and ritsu are fun when theyre together. worlds most dramatic 12 year olds.

How I feel about this character: I like her !!! i feel like shes not talked about much outside of ships which is a shame because i feel like if people came together on her character (this includes people writing canon) then there could be a compelling character here that wouldnt deny her roots or just stay the same sort of trope she used to be. I cant deny i do enjoy that they occassionally dip into her little interest in tarot :) its nice to see that trait remembered.

All the people I ship romantically with this character: sonic of course, shadow, blaze a bit?, metal sonic anddd... yea thats it

My non-romantic OTP for this character: i think her with silver or knuckles is always fun :) idk why i think its because they bounce off of each other well. equal levels of no braincells happening here at least with silver. and with knuckles i feel like they could have a fun brother sister dynamic.

My unpopular opinion about this character: what is the popular opinion on her .... idk ill just use this as more of me talking about her character in general. i wish people would use her abandonment issues more, or at least like integrate that into her character since i think its a trait that shows up a bit in the little visual novel and in sonic frontiers and i think that makes sense as a trait for her

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: if she was ever playable again . I HAVENT played the sonic frontiers dlc but i think giving her a little spin off game ala the princess peach games would be fun. maybe then her team from sonic heros can be used again and i could like care about big and cream outside of them being sparingly used in canon .. and big not just being a joke ... also i just want more development for herrr im always begging for development or character in this series i know its for children but plsss also i wish they would like actually like .. fully deal with her whole thing with sonic... it feels like they wanna pretend her obsession just never happened and wasnt like the main thing with her character before they basically turned her into sally acorn.

My OTP: honestly ive really come around on amy x metal sonic :) i think mainly bc i cant see her with sonic at all (<- sonadow truther) and also i think it could be interesting if i thought about it more deeply

Oof, it's already 2023, isn't it? Oh, well.

it's gonna be 4 now lol.

persist and resist the temptation to ask you - this one is perhaps the most authentic, soul-pouring fic i've ever written. and the one i'm most proud of because of my growth in writing prose and pacing overall. there were many times i would huddle with a blanket in a dark room (💀) simply because of how much i was feeling in the moment. it was the most visceral experience i've had writing so far.

like passing notes in secrecy - i would say that when i finished persist, i was in this writing craze/high in that i simply wanted to write anything since i finally felt like i was on a roll, but that wouldn't do this fic - and my work - justice. because persist was so angsty, i desperately needed to write something that was light and fluffy in consequence for my own sake. i'm very happy about the banter and humor i was able to apply to this OTP; it was pure serotonin, and i hope it was the same for others.

Midnight - my first hinny smut!! aka i took my headcanon of switch!hinny and really ran with it. though i no longer have the same exact headcanon about the two of them, i'm still really proud of how steamy this turned out. and i have a feeling all the private bookmarkers do too 👀

you knew that i'm a mastermind, and now you're mine - man, the sheer power tswift holds on all fic writers everywhere. the aim was to use this song ("mastermind") in irony to show how the wizarding world perceives ginny relative to her relationship with harry. and because ginny is such a force of nature, she and the press manage to come to a certain albeit amusing level of agreement (a true mastermind har dee har). it's a bamf character moment for her, and she owned every second of it.

your top 4 current WIPs that you're excited to release in the new year

you reminded me to open up my google docs for the first time in a month! phewww.

premed hinny!rivals to lovers fic - snippet here. my final fuck you (and extremely reluctant thank you) to undergrad in the form of my OTP. fic is fully outlined and ready to be written if only i could give it the time of day 😭. but now that i have a lot of time opened up for me in the next several months, i'll finally get to it! fingers crossed

anniversary hinny smut - hinny roleplays as strangers in a bar, and let's just say we'll stick the art of acting to the shitty movies. a whole ass page written so far, so i take that as a win!

a somewhat angst, somewhat crack fic... i uh... have the most written for this wip so far of all my wips and im both proud and mortified by that. let's just say it's a story of how hinny finds themselves back to each other postwar... and the path is not exactly a straight route. playlist is a wip as well.

another crack fic because apparently that's all @takearisk-ao3 and me are on... though it's more accurate to say i helped to brainstorm and Hannah, the brilliant Executioner. to quote Hannah's post... "no comment."

im adding a fifth one because why not. hinny!vampire au. though there's only been half a page written for it so far, and hence a lot of white space, im so, so ready for the tools of creativity to lead me to more crackheadery that ive yet to discover. (like i needed more to start with.)

your top 3 biggest improvements in your writing over the past year

i think my writing comes off a bit "cleaner" now? there's more of a coherent plot, resolution to my fics than most of the simple "slices of life" that i wrote more of last year.

i'd like to think the dialogue comes off more natural now too. im finally getting the hang of doing more "showing" than telling and implementing symbolism and metaphors when trying to display a broader theme/concept.

im able to sit with fics and be at ease with the fact that im not going to have the right answer immediately. that i have to wait before i can post to make it better. i started prioritizing quality over mass production - and while this is still something i struggle with a lot of the times - i feel like this is a bit of a step up from last year. and most importantly, i learned that rewrites - not just editing - may be necessary too, and that is okay. that does not make me a bad writer but (hopefully) a thoughtful one.

your top 2 resolutions (ways you wish to improve your writing/blog) for the new year

to not constantly compare myself to other people's writing. focus on how i can improve myself without being intimidated by all the works of the many amazing writers in the fandom. to finally put words on the page fearlessly and authentically, like i felt i did with persist.

to take more risks. keep putting my characters in uncomfortable situations and testing out how they can grow from them. to not feel limited in my writing just because in my young age i havent experienced them. to push my boundaries more. (i thank @fairsquare16 @takearisk-ao3 and @narukoibito for encouraging this and the first goal every single time i feel even the slightest bit down about it; they're also the reason im still entertaining all these crackfics so put the blame on them when they eventually come out)

and your number 1 favorite line you've written this year

my fucking answer to this changes every two seconds...not for any other reason except that it's my biggest conspiracy theory that i have early, early onset dementia and can't for the life of me remember. here's one for now:

Like the story, the moral is just as simple: love unconditionally, act irrevocably. One shouldn't fear wearing their heart on their sleeve if the alternative is to never plant, water, and bathe it with the light of day.

im not even sure this is an unpopular opinion but. i dont give a shit about the good queer rep/bad queer rep arguments. its a 30+ year old series with the majority of the games coming out before 2010. none of these characters are gonna be handled well. i still think the canon/subtextually queer characters are really interesting, even if they fall prey to stereotypes or the whole "queer-coded villain" thing (or in the case of metal gear where a not insignificant amount of the villains are explicitly queer)

or the ppl who get upset that ocelot HAS to be gay. why do you care. if someone wants to make him bi, let them. it doesnt hurt you. hes still queer either way.

My canon OTP:

i would argue otasune is basically canon. they adopted a daughter together.

if thats not good enough, then bbkaz 👍 awful awful couple and theyre so funny about it. they even had sex under a box on the beach.

1: sexuality headcanon: that's a genuine canonical lesbian!!! I do think she's a bit demisexual tho like she'll hang out with a girl for months maybe even years and then suddenly go oh. wait. this is a crush. and promptly freak out about it lol . @neketakas tagged me to post my favourite creations i made this year. i came back to tumblr the beginning of 2021 after a uhhhh 3 year hiatus because i one day had a brainworm about a fic and then wrote about 12k words for it in about three days. ive reconnected with old friends, made new ones, had other old friends block me (lmfao never change tumblr) and have witnessed the downfall of reblogs first hand ♥  and still im happy to post my edits because i really enjoy making gifs, so of course i will take this chance to make you all look at them again.

lets start with fanfic!! because i imagine most ppl who follow me for my edits dont even know i write - even though i started in fandom with fics (i published my first when i was 13 i think lmao)

the fic that got me back into fandom!! cullen/hawke, something ive always wanted to write because i barely wrote my hawke before. one of my absolute favourite things ive ever written.

and my miranda/ryan fic. i love all my mass effect fics but this one was the best i think.

ok lets get to gifs this is why were all here. and ill limit it to 10 because i love all my gifs not to toot my own horn. in no particular order:

1. mass effect 2 gif set. i finally figured out how to colour. amazing its taken 10 years.

- actually knows coding... i know some basic python and thats it i really want to learn javascript but i do not have the willpower nor the time

- unintentionally funny and therefore easy to bully. “i read.... things.... at home....” shin just say you read fanfic its ok... i mean. me too. but it doesnt make it any less funny

- sigh. somewhat related to the above point he’s like universally relatable i dont think ive seen a SINGLE yttd fan who isnt also a shinnie. its just impossible

- why am i struggling he’s like. one of my yttd faves... i dont want to be boring and go with well written moral complexity but i might have to </3 its why he’s so compelling so whatever

3 bad qualities:

- somehow both an older sibling and an only child and i dont like those vibes

- doesnt support women in STEM (said kanna wasnt hacking when she figured out the password to kai’s laptop.. smh)

- theres a whole debate over his hair colour (its teal but calling it blue is fine. calling it green isnt i will gladly die on this hill) and his eyes are another can of worms. neither are consistent colours

when he was a kid he wanted to try mint choc chip ice cream but was too embarrassed to ask his parents so he tried making his own by putting chocolate chips in a pile of toothpaste and when it tasted awful and made him sick he swore he would never try it again. later he found out that mint chop chip is not made like that but by that point he had hated it for years and couldnt really eat any ice cream.. so he continued insisting it tastes like toothpaste. hence the line in 3b

I had that moment. The "this is it".

My little boy was over last night. He taught me how to crochet! He was so patient with me, even though I had to restart multiple times.

I'm usually one to mess up once or twice and give up. My chains were too tight. I'm always too tense for this stuff. But each time he just kept re-showing me how to do it. Telling me I was doing great, and learning super quick. Making me feel like everything was fine. So I relaxed. I un-tensed for the first time in what feels like months. And I did it.

The entire time my favorite show played in the background. I didn't have to watch-ive seen the series through multiple times- and while I crocheted, he watched the show and go really into discussing it with me!

We went to bed next to each other, but not exactly cuddling. We are at this weird place where we've shared the bed a handful of times, but not exactly snuggled unless we woke up like that.

I woke up in the morning and went to use the bathroom. I came back and got in bed. He curled up into me, shifted and whimpered in this sleep a little until I had my arms full of him with a little content look on his face. Breathtaking.

This is what I need. A kind, patient, caring lover who I can also be kind, patient, and caring too. Always safe and relaxed together.

I was worried because my little boy and I aren't as close as I hope for this far in a relationship. We are part of a polycule and our schedules never align, so I never see him. I know he is more guarded than me and needs time to let people in. I'm trying to understand, but I'm so affectionate and open that it feels like rejection sometimes.

But after this night- I can see it. It's there. And it's so amazing laying in bed, fully relaxed, holding him with that little smile on his face, that I am willing to wait for as long as he needs.

Eiffel and minkowski, right? Start pretty standard for wacky hijinks space "comedy" and then turn into one of the most soulful friendships ive ever seen that makes me cry just by thinking abt. Like they care about each other and TRUST each other so SO much, the way eiffel pulls her out of those moments wher the situation absolutely surpasses her by making her laugh (making her laugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), the WAY that at his absolute worst situation in mayday her memory is the FIRST thing that appears on his mind... on the other hand the fact that what eiffel thinks is minkowski's opinion on him is So Low never fails to break my heart bc its Not True at all..... hes So important to her im gonna scream. (The fact that she's called him eiffel much more than officer and also doug many Many times than him calling her renée also goes hand in hand w/ this and believe me i could talk HOURS about their relationship and how they call each other reflect that but i rly need to study after finishing ths...)

The scene where hes back in the hephaestus doing silent work and minkowski goes to him ans hugs him so tight he cant breath and then the exchange of "the entire universe will freeze before you're not the commander of the hephaestus" "thats.. kind of gallant, in a crude horrible way" lives in my MIND RENT FREE!!!! RENT FREE I TELL YOU

Also i talk abt friendship cuz thats what canon gave us and it is Such a beautiful friendship, that being said they're my top 1 otp of everything ever and i think they should kiss u_u

honestly i think infinity train should be up there with over the garden wall as those pieces of animated media that you watch in a few hours and then never stop thinking abt it the rest of your life, like Sure infinity train is much lighter than otgw (at least the first season, and also overall aesthetic) but its still a little gem.... the three stories of it are so good, i watched it a couple of months ago but soon ill need a rewatch bc i love it ;_; ;o;

i have my suspicions about who this is but also im not 100% sure so i will keep my accusations to myself either way i <3 u anon

How I feel about this character majima my beloved... <3 the first yakuza character i went nuts over. i love him dearly. he lives in my brain

All the people I ship romantically with this character me on my multishipping bullshit: kiryu, saejima, kiryu AND saejima (ultimate ot3 honestly), makoto (had things gone differently)... ive put a little thought into nishiki/majima, especially during the 10 year gap. some shared catharsis... that would be a terribly unhealthy relationship since i think it would be built off mutual loss of kiryu, but still an interesting one to consider. i also have a soft spot for majima/kashiwagi. it came out of nowhere but i actually really like them, even if it kinda is a crackship. something about passionate men fighting on a rooftop, majima being one of the few people to get under kashiwagi's skin and make him lose his cool...

My non-romantic OTP for this character whatever majima and nishitani would have had, had y0 been different. their relationship would be a weird one. i cant see it as a romantic one at all but definitely more than friends. also to reference my own previous answer to this, i think him and akiyama would be wild as friends. i wanna see them interact more bc theyre funny together.

My unpopular opinion about this character i think my thoughts on him are really well put together in an analysis thats been floating around tumblr recently. i know a lot of people have only played 0, k1, and maybe k2, and it seems people focus on his potrayal in k1 especially. they dont get to see the depth that majima has throughout the whole series, and boil him down to "batshit crazy knife guy" when in reality hes probably the opposite of that. hes quite calculating and deliberate, and the post explains it very well. i hope that as the games are now fully available on pc (with the exception of some spin-offs/jpn-only games), more people will play them and see the whole of majima's character instead of shoehorning him into this little niche just because its easier.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon. more!!! screentime!!! i so wish we got to see him more in the later games. as i said he does have some significant beats in 3-6 that really tell the player more about his character, but they could have done so much more with him. ESPECIALLY in 5. hes barely in 5 AT ALL 😭😭😭 i know its for plot reasons but BITCH i just want the cast in general to interact more. im fueled by that kind of thing. wanna see more of majima's relationship with saejima, and with daigo (especially post-y6 shenangans). i want him to interact with haruka and have SOME KIND of relationship to her other than "that guy that beats up my dad sometimes." so much is interpreted or created by the fandom that you start to forget a lot of what DOESNT happen in the games. also. kind of a nitpicky thing but also a pretty big deal when you think about the plot of 5. what the FUCK is the timeline in the 80s. as great a game as y0 is, the dates for it completely fucked up what y5 sets up as majima's backstory. i would like to see that retconned and ironed out in a way that makes sense. changing a few years here and there (as well as changing park's age) would be able to fix it, but that has yet to be addressed... i could go on a whole rant about this (angeles has been the victim of said rant before, but i wont. just to keep this a readable length lmao)

Today’s countdown topic: My five favourite BrOTPs!

BrOTP = the platonic equivalent of an OTP (One True Pairing). Which is to say, my favourite pairs of friends.

5. Roan & Echo

I love both Roan and Echo, the two of them together? Amazing. While I think it is possible that Echo did at some point harbour romantic feelings for Roan, she was Azgeda enough to know that leadership came first, and that Roan had responsibilities he needed to attend to more pressingly than romantic liaisons, so that never got in the way. They worked together well - well, up until Roan banished her, that is. 4. Octavia & Echo

Real talk: The only reason these two aren’t higher on the list is because they haven’t had too many chances to work together yet. I hope to see more of them in season 7, because Echo has had Octavia’s back (mostly) since season 5, even when her own brother didn’t. I’ve got to respect Echo for that, and this scene was a nice acknowledgement of the fact that they’re both badass bitches who work better together instead of against each other. 3. Diyoza & Raven

Another pair we haven’t seen much of, but I would like to! Them working together on the Eligius IV was gold. They’re such polar opposites that even though it doesn’t seem like them working together would work, it does. 2. Raven & Murphy

I know, I know, some might object to me including them on a brOTP list instead of a ships list, but it is what it is :P They’ve come a long way since that day when Murphy shot her in the dropship. Murphy has made his amends, they’re friends now and they understand each other a lot more than most do. Plus, you’ve always got to appreciate the sarcastic duo. 1. Octavia & Diyoza

The one thing I love about season 6 is the gift of these two. Already their scene at the end of season 5 held so much promise, two deposed leaders sassing each other as they hang out and aren’t invited to the cool people crew. But season 6 gave us so much more. Diyoza began to learn that there was more to the former Red Queen, and that under that bloody facade she was the same broken and damaged girl that Diyoza herself had been at one point in her life. Now heading into season 7, who knows how much time they’ve spent together? Potentially years. That scene of them in the trailer is my absolute favourite, because it shows just how far their relationship has come. Diyoza understands Octavia now, and wants what is best for her - that is, holding on to the good life they appear to have, rather than risking it all to find a brother who doesn’t give two shits whether Octavia lives or dies. I hope they got to - and get to - live many years in peace, building a home and the life that no one ever wanted for them to have, but they went and found it for themselves in spite of that. Joke is on you, jerkasses on Sanctum. Team Badass Bitches will find their own planet, they don’t need yours.
