The Long Way Home ★ Buck-centric ★ 100K ★ sequel here ★ ➢ during the tsunami, Buck is kidnapped by a sexual trafficking ring and forced into sex work. this is basically his journey from when he's kidnapped to when he's rescued, with some glimpses of how the 118 handles it all, multiple pov's. there's things I love about this fic and things I don't, but ultimately, I would consider it a fave because I really couldn't put it down. I think I read all of it in like... a day or two.

The Way You Did (Once Upon a Dream) ★ Buddie ★ 2K ★ ➢ Sleeping Beauty curse. Buck is in a coma, or in a deep sleep, or however it worked in sleeping beauty, and Eddie has to take it too far to wake him up. the writing is really good, and i am still awaiting a sequel so we can see the aftermath. (rape/noncon)

hurt locker ★ Buddie ★ 77K ★ ➢ I personally don't really consider this a dark!fic per se, but I still think it's emotionally heavy and packs a punch at times. Buck and Eddie are childhood friends, and when Shannon gets pregnant, Buck enlists along with Eddie.

Broken Like Me ★ BuckBobby ★ 15K ★ ➢ Buck and Bobby meet a year before Buck is assigned to the 118, and neither of them have good coping mechanisms. I genuinely really enjoyed this fic, and how it explored their dynamic had they met before Bobby was Buck's boss, and it's take on Buck's 1.0 days.

Eight Drinks a-Roofied ★ Buck-Centric ★ 21K ★ ➢ shows how Buck's gotten roofied eight times. what can I say, it was a fun read for me.

Dean's told that Castiel Novak is his soulmate by Anna (the angel that rescued him from hell in this universe) and he decides to kidnap Castiel so they can meet and thus know they will share a heaven. this is genuienly my favorite dark fic. hands down one of the best i've ever read.

They Think I'm Possessed ★ JohnDean, Wincest ★ 27K ★ ➢ John decides to make Dean a replacement for Mary. Dean becomes Sam's mommy, and John's partner. He's essentially John's housewife and Sam's mother. I don't wanna give anything away but this was literally so well written and I read it all in one sitting, I could not put it down, it was so disturbing and depraved and I loved every second of it.

Ninety One Whiskey ★ Destiel ★ 401K ★ ➢ Castiel and Dean are both soldiers in WW2 in the same infantry. Dean is a medic, and if i remember correctly, Castiel is a sergeant. very well written, very slow burn, very good. haven't read it in years though, i just remember it really being good.

Fever Where You Run To ★ JohnDean ★ 3,9K ★ ➢ John gets hit with a lust spell / sex pollen. He either has to fuck it out or die. Dean offers himself up. (John has been having inappropriate thoughts about dean for years at this point, though)

mother is pretending ★ Wincest ★ 19K ★ ➢ basically them developing a mommy kink in the course of season 2. i am not into mommy kink, but i absolutely loved this fic. that's saying something.

because you want to die for love ★ Wincest ★ 27K ★ ➢ Sam joins Dean in heaven after the finale of s15. Dean slowly but surely starts to accept that he can want and have Sam. Originally I wasn't gonna but this in the list but there's just two scenes that I was like giggling, kicking my feet, twirling my hair all teehee. So good. Very well written, too.

Birds in Gilded Cages ★ Larry ★ 157K ★ ➢ Harry got kidnapped as a teen and forced into sex work. Louis becomes a client. they fall in love. brutal and dark but i routinely read the last chapter bc I love certain scenes in that one.

Love Will Tear Us Apart ★ Larry ★ 103K ★ ➢ I don't remember much about this one, I just remembered really liking it and how it showed that you can make mistakes and be flawed and still come together and forgive and be happy together.

he would come home, bag put down onto the kitchen counter with a cheery and vibrant “i’m home!” no matter his mood. that was just one of the many things you loved about him. you’d pad into the kitchen with a weary smile, adorning one of his hoodies and some shorts whilst rubbing away the tiredness from your bleary eyes.

“how was your day, bo?” you questioned and made your way over to the fridge to grab the milk carton, “want some hot chocolate?”

- Favourite board game?

Uh... Iunno, don't have one, I don't play board games much. Whatever one my therapist used to get me to open up and answer questions, I guess? It was like snakes and ladders if I recall, but there was two decks of cards, one of I think personal questions for me to answer, and one of personal questions for me to ask.

This is how I learnt that I actually really enjoy being asked questions and getting to answer them. It also developed a way for me to ask questions freely without there being an onus on me to come up with them. Eventually we forgoed the cards completely and any time I reached a card square she would ask me a question and I'd answer it because the trust had been built between us that made it acceptable. It made me more comfortable with allowing people to ask me personal questions without getting defensive or feeling attacked, and also established the basis of acceptable boundaries (because I can't have a boundary about EVERYTHING).

Plus it worked great for pulling me out of my head on bad days. Might not say a fucking word when I walk in, but as soon as those cards come out it's like I was talking on instinct. Well-trained dog. Didn't mind it though, worked great for helping me decompress and work through whatever I was feeling and vent whatever I needed to vent. It's hard to say "I'm sad and need to talk about this with someone" but it's easier when you land on an ask square and get asked plainly "Is there something bothering you? What is it? Why did it bother you?" And then have that feeling validated ("Yeah, I understand why that bothered you") and have it worked through by someone you trust ("That happened to me once, this is how I dealt with it...")

I'm unfortunately one of those people who bottles important things to high heaven and only bitches about mundane things that don't actually mean shit because bitching about shit with people is a good way to forge connections, said my therapist. So things that actually genuinely bother me or hurt me are just bottled and not spoken of unless I've made a bond with that person, and I don't really bond with people! Which means unless someone approaches the topic first I will probably just never say anything ever. This leads to explosive outbursts and is not healthy.

Anyway, I'm rambling. Wish I knew the name of the game.

This is all to say that this blog and letting me talk about shit and my life and how shit sandwich it is is kinda therapeutic in a way...

Uhhh broccoli! And asparagus. Fun fact I used to hate cauliflower because it looks Wrong (looks like bleached broccoli but doesn't taste like broccoli OR like bleach) but I had some that I made recently and I actually don't mind it? Downside it doesn't taste like jack shit. Bland as, only flavouring was the sauce it was in. Also had black olives in my salad recently and sucked it up and ate it anyway and they weren't too bad, couldn't even taste them really, so I'm not bothering with asking for no olives anymore!

Elevation - 3:57 Oh this is… wow. Fucking he’ll so much for thinking this was gonna be happy songs only. I love how intense and mossy the song feels while retaining the same sonic feel of the album. “I still believe and I still care” is a raw fucking line.

Movement - 2:31 Harrison you’re stretching the “accent” a bit much, & I think this verges on too 80s… but… I do like it. Also that’s not a chorus but I forgive you. I think this would work better as an instrumental “I don’t wanna die I just need some rest” same.

You Can Never Go Home - 2:48 This is the perfect closing track my god. It pulls the more emotional and vulnerable sides from All Night and Elevation with the forget & be happy from Good Time and You’re Invited “You can never go home”

Now that I’ve heard the record I can understand why Sex didn’t make the cuts but I do still love it & forgotten child bloodwork. Normally I’d do a top 5 of songs that are newly released but uh… there’s a total of six so bye bye movement :/ but here’s my top 3! I Destroyed Disco, Open Up & You Can Never Go Home. This entire album was a trip & I love it, defo getting added to my roster of “I’m in the mood to listen to an album” albums. omg taurus angel i hope you had a good day (aside from the drunk crying. mood tho lol)!! this is so so cute!! i always think the best nights out are the impromptu ones, so i'm thinking that the two of you have had a really lovely day, gone out for a huge fancy lunch, then to a bar with the intent of having a few drinks then heading home. and the night just flies in, because you're having such a good time (and you and ross, sappy cuties that you are, keep getting lost in each other's eyes), so much so that neither of you want to go home when the bar staff call for last orders. ross is like "you know, we could go out out, if you want, babe" and you're like "clubbing? alright!", so you go and queue for a nearby nightclub. ross has to subtly kiss your neck as a distraction technique to prevent you having an existential crisis about your age when you end up behind a group of newly-eighteen-year-olds, and as soon as you both get in he drags you to the bar to do a shot or two to relax lol. and it works - you have a great night dancing with him (he defo makes sure to request some of your fave songs lol) and drinking weird nightclub cocktails (would pay to see any member of the 1975 drink a venom actually) and befriending random girls in the toilets when they tell you how pretty you are and compliment your dress (mvps, truly). i do think you'd leave a teeny bit earlier than 4am, but not for tiredness reasons - the grinding on your boyfriend and the making out in the smoking area really gets to you both (if you catch my drift), and you drag ross out of the club at 2:30, ready to jump into a taxi and then jump him as soon as you both get through your front door lol. but then you clock the takeaway across the road as soon as you get outside and you're like "ok babe i love you and i really do want you, but i also really want a munchie box (THE post-night out food don't @ me)", and ross laughs and he's like "right, well, we can get one if you promise to share the chips with me" and you're tipsy like "you're the love of my life i'll always share my chips with you!!" and then you make out again for a bit until it starts raining and you have to run for cover in the takeaway lol. and you get your food, and the two of you stand in this random doorway contentedly eating chips and naan and pakora and then having another smoke before walking to the taxi rank. it's still raining, and the queue is long, but neither you or ross care - you're too busy snuggling into ross' chest sleepily, him asking you if you've had a nice birthday and you saying "the best", to care. and yeah, you don't end up having sex when you get home because you're so tired, but you're both so content just cuddling lovingly and spooning to sleep that it doesn't matter <3

I wanted to do more fineliners doodles so here I am! It’s by far my fave medium, love the fact I can just go without making any pencil sketch and just go with the flow with the liner, and I got to admit drawing traditionally after doing a big piece with 4 characters (though I loved drawing Anne, Liv, Vipin and Jeremy together) on the tablet is a blessing for my eye strain bdjdjdjjdd + I wanted to do some clothes study and as I love all the different sub cultures from Harajuku, so I looked for outfits that would suit Olivia! (Close up and inspos under read more)

This is the first drawing! I wanted to make her buns because I thought it would be cute on her, and I redid the matching necklace I hc she has with Vipin, and I modified the t-shirt design so there is an alien head and “alien” written in Japanese because I thought it’d be fitting for the Bridgewater universe, also little hc of mine but Olivia would defo go on a date with Vipin like this, and more headcanon would be that Vipin was even the one who gifted her that pair of trousers because I found the idea cute 😭🫶

The main thing I modified here on the left one was the t-shirt and it was kinda funny to me to have like a triangle drawn under Bridgewater (I’m so bad at fonts) and trees next to it to get a reminder of the Freetown State forest (I promise I made a note to myself noticing how I draw VERY poorly pine trees although it’s the simplified version djjdjdjd it was a mistake for me to even try 😭🤚)

The main change on the right one is the charm on the bag, I did an owl because we’re talking about Bridgewater after all 🤧

as for the other love interests, there is one side pairing which is already established between the boys, and you'll find out who they are! but they aren't a focus, altho I have thought of a whole backstory for them hahahaha.. but nothing dramatic! and I defo have another ship in my mind which hasn't made its way in here lol

hmmm so as a slow burn I'd say it's pretty slow🤣I defo took the approach of exploring the build-up of reader and jk's relationship, so we get a fair bit of juicy enemies content in the next few chapters (considering the first two are mainly setting up the plot), before they start to discover more about each other and go through different situations. romance doesn't come until very near the end, but there will be no shortage of content of the two together, I promise!!

but in classic me fashion, I took a while to get to the right moment. I really took myself on a journey writing it, so their emotional bond is going to be the forefront before romance arrives... I hope you enjoy the ride as we get there👀(I hope I'm explaining ok, but you'll have to judge as it goes on! for me, the bond really forms the foundation for their relationship, so idk, certain things might not happen until later, but some of my fave scenes are actually from the middle of the story. it's all still meaningful for them getting together)

as for canon. this is true of everything but MAN did they drop the ball with him towards the end... i get why they had joe quit ccpd given the political situation at the time and i support that 100% but first of all, having a Black character go "hey the police force in my city is inherently corrupt and i can no longer be complicit in its enforcement" (true and correct) while their white hero just does not acknowledge that corruption and continues to work for the same establishment completely uncritically was... perhaps not sending the message they intended... i mean it's honestly almost funny cos that is very much a reflection of the actual systems but. maybe they could have thought about that one a bit more...

and they really should have given joe something else to do cos he ended up sorta directionless after that. in fairness i know jesse l martin has back problems so i think them having him sitting down chilling at home as a stay at home dad was perhaps borne of necessity in a lot of ways but they defo could have done more interesting things with the character. im not OPPOSED to sahd joe but it does seem like a bit of a waste cos it would just be like. every episode joe shows up for a pep talk then goes back to being the full-time stay at home parent for a child we literally never see except one time when a window explodes in her face, which brings me to my NEXT point---

writing joe out with LITERALLY like 8 eps to go? stupid. again i respect that jesse l martin had HAD it with this show (tbf who hadnt by this point) and he wanted out, of course he had every right to do that, but purely based on the context of the show, i hate that they had him leave central city like that and move so far away when we were so close to the finish line. HAAATE it. the show was basically on life support from that point on. it was possibly worse than when we lost cisco. joe was the heart of it, man. it just wasn't the same :(

I know I said this before but I don't know if I made it specifically clear

I think I'd personally prefer it if they did away with genres such as "shounen-ai", "yaoi", "shoujo-ai" and "yuri"

Ok maybe not yaoi and yuri since they're implied to be explicit, but the other two, defo. Or what they're more commonly known as, Boys Love (BL) or Girls Love (GL)

Now with me, personally, if I'm told by the show what to ship, there's a high chance I wont ship it. There's canon couples I do support don't get me wrong (Inuyasha/Kagome, Eren/Mikasa, Tomoe/Nanami, etc), but I wont go out of my way to look into them. Also, one of those pairings is not like the other. Inuyasha/Kagome and Tomoe/Nanami are implied from the start and they are both a part of an anime with the Romance genre attached, and so I know what those shows are leading up to. However, Eren/Mikasa would be an example of one that is not. Attack on Titan does not have a Romance genre. But not having a Romance genre doesn't mean there is no Romance. It's just not a central theme.

And tbh, that's my personal preference. To not be told from the start that this ship is endgame. I want to be surprised when I watch an anime and see a couple develop a relationship through chemistry, trust, understanding, etc. Meruem/Komugi came out of an anime where Romance is basically non-existent and defo not a genre, and its definitely implied Romance, they fell in love, 100%. In a non-Romance anime. That's my fave!!!

I rarely rarely go looking into the Romance genre. I'm more of an action-gal, and I'm happy to have Romance attached in some way.

Now in terms of BL...

Shounen-Ai/BL is also a Romance genre (basically just translated to "Gay Romance"). And I've seen a few BL's where absolutely nothing has happened between the male characters, despite the label. I haven't seen Togainu no Chi in well over 10 years but I'm almost positive no male characters even hugged. And there's more like that, despite the BL label.

But anyway. Bc you know it has that BL genre, the whole time you're basically waiting on at least a kiss. And when you don't get it, you're highly disappointed in the whole anime and feel like you were conned into believing there was a Romance when there wasn't. And its just confusing, bc you're wondering if that genre should even be there.

But that's the thing, your expectations are high because the genre is telling you "these two characters will be together by the end" or "at least be heavily implied", and like any het romance anime that tells you its a romance anime, and the main characters kiss by the end or are implied to be together or on the way to getting together, you are expecting the two males leads in a BL to kiss by the end or at least have something romantic between them. And when they don't, and you're like, "why is this even called shounen-ai??? all they did is hug! friends do that!" --- is why they should just do away with the label.

My preference, like I said, is to go into an anime not labelled with Romance but then find a Romance. Like HxH or Attack on Titan.

If we take Starmyu, as an example:

These aren't wrong. These are the central themes.

However, the plot is heavily based around this sentence:

The show is two things. Its based around attending a musical academy in hopes of becoming a singer, actor, stage performer, whatever. And its also based around the main character, in a way, "seeking out" a student from the academy that inspired him a few years beforehand. He doesn't exactly try his best to seek out that student, but talks about him a lot.

And that's fine. Nothing too gay there lmao

But... between that all happening, there's a lot implied, that I'll prob do in a different post, but then girls and girlfriends are brought up and its like "ah... so the 'gay' moments are just fanservice. these characters are all prob straight" and you dont feel too much about it because, duh-duh-duh-duuuuuun---

BL isn't a genre for this anime. Neither is romance. You're not expecting anything.

You. Have. No. Expectations.

But here's the thing!!!

You can go into HxH or Attack on Titan with no Romance expectations due to lack of label, and still find a Romance in there, like I said! And they're canon af, not just shipping fodder, actual canon!

There's actually quite a bit of romance in my fave anime, Durarara and yet here are the genres:

So its like, why do I have to know the genre is BL to think there's something between these characters? Why can't it just... happen? Like they do in the "straight" animes.

But this is another sucky part.

We'll stick with Stamyu.

If this did have BL as a genre, then what the show has been giving would be labelled as "not enough". Bc BL has to mean "at least a kiss", usually. People aren't happy if they dont get at least that if the BL genre is attached. And so Starmyu would be considered a "fine anime" without BL attached, but a "disappointing anime" if BL was attached.

Nobody is saying that about Ouran. The two leads (male and female) never kissed and its considered one of the best romance animes

And that's a romance anime, not an action series with romance in the background.

But if Starmyu was labelled as BL and all they did was hug, people would be hella disappointed. However, as a non-BL, people would be happy to see them just hug, that would be enough.

It sucks bc, Yuri on Ice came along and did it.

But we know that despite mostly being centred around sports, it 100% has an actual canon Gay Romance

In. A. Non. BL. Or. Romance. Labelled. Anime.

Which changed the fucking game for a brief moment, and I haven't seen anything like it since.

BL to me sometimes feels like a warning. Like "if you enter this anime, it is gay, be warned."

It didn't take any geniuses to know that Yuri on Ice wasn't a manly anime for manly mens, and was most likely catered to girls, but, dudes could still watch it and be shocked when the gay happened, and be like "Ok I knew this anime was a little sparkly and shit, but I still watched it for the sport regardless of it being ice-skating... But why they have to put this gay shit in here??? If it had said fucking BL or yaoi, I would have stayed away! Now I'm forced to see this with my own eyes!!!"

See. We should really just do away with that genre. Not only would it be progressive, but so much fun lmao
