It’s kinda sad that in the verse or to think Noise’s show never went on air beyond the tower or pizza head was just letting him think it’s being broadcasted world wide. I could imagine how heartbroken Noise must’ve felt to discover your dream come true was an illusion someone made. but that means in the credit Noise was still able to get his footing anyways in the film industry.
(I HAVE to preface this by saying i DO like the noise, i love this little brat, but im going to dunk on him in this response 😭)
My hc is that The Noise is ALREADY rich as shit. He did not ask for that insane money split bc hes desperate to make it big, he asked for that money bc he was being greedy as hell. He already has hiring agents and commercials and he makes all kinds of gadgets to sell at ludicrous prices.
Pizzahead ‘hired’ him bc the Noise has all these weird machines and explosives and he wanted to utilize that. He was filming for his Own weird and bizarre (stalker-ish) reasons, but the Noise, being nosy, found out about these recordings and assumed (wrongly) that this was going to be like a live reality show or some shit, and jumped in to split profits before anyone else got to it. If his agents got to Pizzahead first, they wouldve found it extremely suspicious that there was no name, no deals, no contracts written up, no producers or anything that comes standard with filming anything. But the noise doesnt Know that; thats what his agents are for! If he knew that Pizzahead was recording him SOLELY to record him fighting Peppino, noise wouldve turned him down immediately; he will Not tolerate being runner up to the Star of a show.
If it means anything, he Did get an absurd amount of money for working with Pizzahead. So much so that his agent thought he literally scammed some poor soul out of their money (He would Never; hes a brat; not a thief). So he definitely came out of this entire ordeal more than okay, if not, a little confused on the situation of. Everything. But that doesnt matter bc hes got that sweet cash babey

Idk why but I’ve always seen Toph as as ace (even though she had a few moments crushing on a few characters) so it just feels a bit odd to me when I see people ship her with other characters. She’s the type of person that doesn’t want/need a romantic partner to fulfill a major goal in life (imo). What are your thoughts?
Totally valid anon! I personally just see her as aro mostly (sometimes I hc her as an aro lesbian, aroace, or a demiro lesbian, kinda depends on what mood I’m in), but I’m really not tied to any specific hc, nor am I going to criticize anybody else for their hcs of Toph (or any other character we can all have different readings of the show). I’m more pissed off when people criticize other people for hcing Toph as a lesbian? Like I’ve heard people say it’s “stereotypical” to hc a gnc female character as a lesbian but like. the reason that a lot of lesbians like to hc Toph as a lesbian is because gnc lesbians are a huge, underrepresented part of our community. we see ourselves or members of our community in her.
and that doesn’t mean you or anyone else has to hc her as a lesbian! I don’t always hc her as a lesbian! Have the hcs you want to have, by all means. My bigger qualm is that I feel like people are *so* resistant specifically to lesbian hcs of female characters. And they’ll say it’s because “they had a crush on a guy canonically!” but these are the same people who can’t see Zuko or Mako or Wu as anything but gay even though all three of these characters have histories of dating women or actively pursuing women in canon. I’m not mad about the hcs themselves, hc whatever you want, but it’s frustrating to me that so much grace is afforded to people who hc male characters as gay, and yet that same grace is so rarely extended to people who hc female characters as lesbians. so you can understand the concept of a man muddling through an m/f relationship bc he doesn’t realize he’s gay yet but you can’t do that for a woman? what? and like, we know comphet is a huge part of the lesbian experience, and yet for some reason lesbian hcs are so taboo and it drives me nuts.
And I do really want to clarify that if you read any or all of the female characters of atla/lok as bi/pan/ace that’s completely valid (and in fact if you try to hc Korra or Asami as lesbians that is bi erasure you’re fucking biphobic get the fuck off my blog) and there are numerous female characters that I hc as bi/pan/ace myself (or whose canon bisexual depictions I absolutely adore, *cough* Korra and Asami *cough*) I also get that in general we’re all so starved for representation that we are fighting for crumbs. I can see how bi women might feel alienated by hcs that paint female characters’ relationships with men or crushes on male characters as comphet, or how aro/ace people might feel alienated by lesbian interpretations of characters like Toph who as you said don’t seem like people who want/need romantic relationships in their lives. My personal philosophy as far as lgbt+ hcs go is to live and let live. Like, they’re headcanons, you see the characters and you draw your own conclusions, and my conclusions aren’t necessarily going to be your conclusions (for example, if you couldn’t tell by me ranting about it constantly, I see Zuko as bi, I’m always going to write Zuko as bi, I’m extremely aware that I am in the minority as far as fanon goes, and that’s completely fine. You have your hcs, I have mine).
Where I have an issue is when people try to say that for whatever reason you shouldn’t hc x, y, or z character whichever way, either because it’s “stereotypical” (this is what I’ve seen said re: hcing Toph and Azula as lesbians) or because there’s no canon basis for whatever hc you have (tbh, I have seen this wrt to basically every single atla/lok lgbt hc. it’s exhausting.) Idk, this isn’t necessarily worded the best and I’m sorry for that, and I want to reiterate here that your lgbt+ hcs are valid. all of them. please do not stop hcing a character a certain way on my account. however, I would also love for my fellow lesbian fans to be able to hc characters as lesbians in peace.

Do you think Trigger meant for Galo and Lio to be written as gay specifically or just MLM? Do you think bi headcanons are problematic?
i was hoping we were over this kind of thing in fndoms and really didnt want to see it pop up w prmr x_x no i dont think its ‘problematic’ i think ppl get too into framing gay and bi as two radically different sexualities with no overlapping experiences and while ofc theyre not the same, gay/bi men are both attracted to men, as men. so really i dont think its that big of a deal. ppl can project whatever they want as long as theyre not writing them straight or genderbending them or whatever.
also i dont think its helpful to look at how the (most likely cishet) prmr writers wrote this, esp framing galos rship w aina as proof he is gay specifically, bc their writers r cishet and their understanding of both gayness and bisexuality arent.. on point. bc theyre cishet. imo the way its framed seems to be more ‘galo has this subtle arc implying hes in2 men but cant do anything abt it considering hes kind of under obligation to Follow The Rules and do things Correctly + hes not in2 aina but he IS in2 lio and theres a whole Thing w aina being framed as the easier choice in the way that its Correct and he’d get societal approval but it would b wrong for him (and aina!) vs lio and helping lio as the Wrong Choice in the eyes of kr*y and the foundation and their society as a whole.’ i dont rly think that implies enough 2 tell u specifically what sexualities theyre meant to be (esp considering thats not a certain sexuality specific experience its kind of just a common lgbt one and even then its not exclusive to lgbt ppl; in this case it is, bc its written for a man who is attracted to men, but it doesnt HAVE to be) beyond ‘clearly galo is attracted to men, specifically lio, and not attracted to aina’. the way its written also has the vibe that galo is aware hes attracted to men already so lio is kind of just a turning point in several ways for him but i could go down the rabbit hole w talking abt this so lets get back to the point.
my point of this isnt to say galo could theoretically b attracted to women bc frankly i dont care and im not interested in arguing that, my point with this is to try and bring up that when the writers r (again, most likely) cishet, they bring stereotypes n certain ways of writing shit to the table that lgbt writers probably would know to avoid to clarify things in a more specific way if they cared about it. triggers still at the point where they cant say the words in love or gay wrt galo and lio so i think if ppl r looking for clarification theyre prob never gonna get it. i can make assumptions abt galos specific sexuality from how they wrote the movie, youre Supposed to be able to see what theyre implying about him and so i could absolutely see galo being gay and that being the intent with him, but ultimately if trigger doesnt specify hes gay then its not like.. problematic to hc him as bi. its only problematic if trigger explicitely states that galos gay. i do not think implication is enough fuel to get on someone for being problematic
my other point with saying all this instead of saying ‘no i dont think its problematic’ is that i dont particularly like how fandoms frame this as a Vs. i saw this shit happen w hxh fans abt hxh chars like killua and i dont want to see it repeated here, cuz it inevitably gets homophobic and/or biphobic when ur arguing abt one hc being ‘problematic’ when theres IMPLICATION but no explicit confirmation abt gay or bi. id b interested in talking to ppl further abt how galos written but im not interested in arguing abt whether hes meant to gay or bi cuz i dont think it matters! what matters is he is in love with lio and they are husbands :) love wins
also cuz i cant find a good spot to include this, but since u asked for both: i have no idea about lio. he clearly likes men and hes designed to be read as into men on sight (particularly to galo lol) but galos the one with the hetbait scene and the protag with more time spent on him and this underlying arc so i dont rly think you can say anything clear abt him except clearly he IS attracted to men lmao. but in galos case, given how trigger writes, implication isnt rly enough to say that bi hcs for him r problematic
tldr: no its not problematic lmao
