How would Cassie react to becoming a dough toy like Doey?
I think it would depend on the circumstances that would lead and cause that to happen.
It's not an 'official' scenario but I for once have thought up of a setting this could happen branching off the AU:
The Doctor manages to take Bobby BearHug (AKA the youngest toy in Safe Haven, so kind of like everyone's little baby sister there,) as means to 'break' Doey (though it would affect pretty much all of Safe Haven too,) and takes her to the old section of the factory where the Doey dough used to be made, and I'm sure he would be able to reactivate that section again as an 'edge' to his actions- the same section where Jack had his incident.
Of course Doey would be on his way to save one of his little ones, through any vents, pipes and cracks he can slide through. But a lot of the Doctor's nitrogen traps would be set as well, meaning Doey could get close but probably not close enough. However, there's a part of this equation The Doctor didn't even know existed, and that's Cassie.
Normally Cassie listens to Doey majority of the time when he tells her not to go to 'X' or not to do 'Y', as he's been living in the factory for ages and certainly knows better when it comes to the factory than her. He certainly would've told her to stay in safe Haven and keep her anonymity from The Doctor, that he would be back with Bobby. Thing is, Cassie has also gotten attached to these toys kids including Bobby, and after losing many people in her life prior to this such as Roxy, sitting back with the possibility of Bobby being lost as well looming over her head would be something she simply couldn't do. She feels like she didn't do/act enough in the ruined PizzaPlex and that led to her falling for 'Gregory' and rippling off whatever remained of her friends there- and she would be simply unable to let herself have a repeat of something like that.
Cassie wouldn't just dive into it though of course, she'd be of little to no help like that, so she definitely would be on her full gear and be as prepared as she could make herself be- Doey sure would've told her about The Doctor and how dangerous he is, and she wouldn't take his warnings so lightly.
Where The Doctor placed and how he set his traps were meant for Doey not Cassie, so she likely would've been able to reach the dough factory before Doey, not to mention she would have her adapted VANNI mask, meaning none of his automatons nor the cameras would've even seen her coming.
Now you know why The Doctor only has his automatons in that little domain area of his: because Cassie moped the floor with the others outside it lmao. you dont mess with Bobby smh
The Doctor having his automatons destroyed and none even being able to see what's taking them down can only assume that somehow Doey actually surpassed his meticulously-placed traps and was using his shifting to stay hidden, so he calls for Yarnaby as backup. He's pretty ready to abandon his initial plan by now since things aren't going as planned. But then notices Doey just getting into the area a little worse for wear because of all the nitrogen traps he struggled through and managing to gather Bobby because The Doctor was far too distracted by the unseen 'Doey' threat to have killed her like he had intended to do as means to get to Doey.
But if Doey is right there with Bobby... then what's shattering his other automatons like glass??? But he'd rather keep whatever automaton(s) he still has left and retreat, whatever threat that has been striking him is now Yarnaby's problem and if Yarnaby fails... he still has Baba Chops serving him. who knew this guy is a huge piece of shit what a shocker /s
Doey would make it over to Cassie around the same time as Yarnaby, but unlike The Doctor, Yarnaby can see her just like Doey can, which results in Yarnaby initiating an altercation with her. There wasn't even any fight though-- the thing is, the dough factory has now been abandoned for ages and those rusty catwalks are now even less safe than they were back in Christmas 1993, and the bits of action that's been happening on them today was only so much those old bridges could take.
A part of the catwalk gives out under Cassie and her gear's weight and she falls through into one of the vats of molten dough below (specifically a vat of red dough, as I imagine each of Doey's four colors were fabricated separately, and it would explain Dassie being predominantly red unlike Doey.)
Doey and Bobby are horrified while Yarnaby backs off and retreats feeling the unstable ground under his paws. And still, Cassie refuses to go out without a fight and manages to break out through the old vat with her gear, allowing her (and a LOT of molten red dough) to slide out... but she's basically engulfed in dough and likely drowned some of it in too, and certainly has gotten a lot of wounds and injuries from the machinery, all of it full of and covered in dough. AKA, this girl needs serious medical help yesterday and even the Medic Boogie Bot might not have the necessary resources.
Seeing the severity of the situation and the unwillingness to give up on Cassie just like she's refused giving up on them, Doey and the Medic resort to the poppy flower gel thing. It's usually a last LAST resort to help their more gravely hurt and sick toys despite its usage in Playtime's experiments in the past. But it's shown to be benign when used to help heal and cure their fellow toys when it was beyond the Medic.
... but Cassie was still human, not a toy.
The result was Cassie getting healed... but also turning into a doughgirl. And that's 'Dassie'.
Now actually ANSWERING your ask lmao.
Under this scenario at least, I imagine Dassie would be having that 'adjustment period' where she'd be questioning why this happened and what she could've done differently and if she ever would see her dad again and if she did would he even recognize her or see her as still his kid?
But after that period, I think she'd take it... surprisingly better than most toys.
Because unlike her, all other toys' experiments involved a lot of torture and abuse from Playtime Co. employees as well as the Doctor, Dassie was a result of medical need with no experiment or abuse involved- besides she would 100% have died otherwise. Also unlike majority of toys she remembers everything and sees herself as Dassie and Cassie being the same person (and even if she had forgotten stuff, Doey and the others would know who she is and would've remind her.)
Also, this stemmed from a choice she made, out of her intent to help save Bobby... and she can't say she regrets doing that or her motivation to do that. If she hadn't stepped up chances are The Doctor's plan would've gone as intended. This isn't to say that Doey failed, just that he has his limits and weaknesses just like everybody else, and the Doctor knew how to exploit them. He hadn't accounted for Cassie at all and that's why his plan came apart.
Sure she would have her under the weather times because it is a big change, but she would come down to the mantra of "I may not be human anymore but I'm still Cassie and I'm still a person and still me, and that's enough, right?"
She would highlight the importance is in the who rather than the what. Honestly I think that's some morale and perspective a lot of the toys in Safe Haven would gladly have around and perhaps even try to adopt all or some of it themselves. The acknowledgment that they're still people despite not being human is quite comforting and healing even. Watch as I hc that being what could've gave Doey the determination to talk back to Poppy in her plan and saying "We're not just things gone wrong, we're people."
Now just for an extra clarification: Dassie would still refer to herself and have others refer to her as Cassie because she remembers everything and who she was before and considers herself the same person. 'Dassie' is a nickname to the 'Dough Cassie' design for us to use to tell her and human Cassie apart.

Also, I’m sorry for asking again, but your Doey Cassie AU is just so interesting!
Is it weird for me to imagine Dassie initially thinking she’s still human because of her intact memories until she sees her reflection and has a mental breakdown as a result?
I'd think that being now made of dough would feel far too different upon waking from being solid flesh n bones n so for that to happen. I get the image of Dassie initially struggling to keep shape at first upon waking from feeling dazed, which I imagine would be hard to overlook.

Just a heads up, there are bots going around on AO3 accusing people of using AI. Considering the timing, this is likely AI bros' retaliation for AO3 users calling them out for scraping their work. Examples of what you might be sent:

This may have been answered already and I’ve totally missed it (if so feel free to just ignore this if you want haha!) but is Cassie aware the toys in Safe Haven are all kids, when did she find out (if she does), and what was her reaction to it? Obviously the animatronics in Security Breach are pretty lifelike, but they’re still just animatronics. Living toys made from children, many of which probably still have meaty flesh bits inside? That’s a whole ‘nother ball park!
I recall having somewhat touched on this on another ask but that was a bit ago already sooooo
The thing about Playtime's underbelly is that if you're outside it (AKA the outside world, the surface, whatever you call,) it's very affordable to keep their dirty secrets hidden... but if you're actually inside there? The gritty reality is very hard to fly over anyone's head. Sure, certain details might be possible to keep hidden, but the overall gist of it all? Not so much.
I feel like Doey certainly would want to spare Cassie from the dark truth, but problem is... that's not really something that can be kept hidden for much long, especially now that she's smack in the middle of it along with them. If he tried lying to her to spare her, she simply would end up finding out some other way, which is arguably worse than being told the truth from the start. That said, I think Doey would try not to lie, but would still be vague, only answering certain questions if Cassie ends up specifically asking those... as well as elaborating on things she may already have found out on her own.
I don't have it laid out how Cassie finds out about what/who the toys actually are, but her reaction to it probably would be just about what you'd expect from a sensible 10-year-old with basic human sense, give or take; I imagine she'd feel so terrible to the point of nausea (like, you ever had to take in some kind of information that made you so upset you felt sick? Kinda like that.) If she can feel sorry for ones like Roxy who are fully mechanical, she certainly would feel for 'toys' who are for all ends and purposes flesh and bone just like her. Distressingly so.
But, Cassie also is still just a kid, and the truth of Playtime is something of a magnitude that may also be too big for a kid to take in, so she also would need to process and digest that shit in bits.
But, if anything, it weirdly(maybe) may also help Cassie further bond with her toy peers (not just Doey but also the other friendly toys in Safe Haven;) while she may not fully relate to what it's like to go through those experiments, she certainly would understand how betrayed those toys kids feel, because they were all lied to by those who virtually should've protected them, looked out for them and those who made everything to earn their trust only to spit it back at them when it was their time to be experimented on. That intense sense betrayal and injustice is something Cassie herself feels deeply in her bones now, left there by "Gregory" AND Gregory. Heck, "Gregory's" betrayal hurts less than Gregory's, because that's exactly the thing about betrayal: it never comes from an enemy.

When it comes to Dassie or your Dough Cassie AU, what do you think her experiment number would be?
I imagine it would probably be either Experiment 1725 or 11725 as a reference to Roxy’s voice line about Cassie being number 1 twice alongside referencing the Ruin DLC’s release.
that would be a neat easter egg number but 11725 might be too high of a number since at least as far as we know playtime's experiments are still on the 1000s and still were around there by the time the hoj happened. 1725 would be more likely of a number
also if we're assuming that in this scenario cassie still wound up at the factory the same way, when its already been long abandoned, it's debatable if her experimentation into dassie would be properly logged/documented to assign her a number

If, hypotheticaly, Dassie was cannon to the Pd&G au, how would that happen? Did she fall into a somehow still-running vat of dough? Did she take a fatal blow near one and it get used as a last resort to save her? Did the doctor catch her for a while? Some other reason I'm not thinking of?
With Dassie not being canon to the AU means I don't have the circumstances of her origins figured out. But all of those scenarios you've mentioned could be a possibility!
I sorta touched upon it while answering another ask a while ago.

What do you think would('ve) happen if, like, Doey and the other toys/experiments (Lucas and Bella included) got out of the facility? How would they react? Obviously, they'd enjoy the freedom, but what else?
Phew! Sorry this took me so long to get to, but hopefully it was worth it! Someone else also sent an ask talking about how Bella and Lucas could have survived the HOJ (which I accidentally deleted due to lag while deleting spam TwT) so this is for both of you!!
The first thing on everyone's mind after escaping would be food, food and drinks of any kind. Playtime Co. controlled most of the toys via starvation, and the food they did get was really low quality junk. Doey is more than familiar with crawling through vents, and what is that Walmart employee really going to do about him. While grabbing most anything in reach, there was definitely a preference towards junk food, they're all still kids and chips and soda are like ambrosia and they're going to eat until they throw up, and then they'll probably eat more after XD
After they finish gorging themselves I think they'd probably hide? Try and find somewhere to hide out either just in the woods or if they can locate an abandoned building. Anything to stay out of the weather and away from people, especially that last bit. None of them want anything to do with people, interactions would be rare and as short as they possibly can manage (they're all very scared of being dragged back). Getting Lucas and Bella's collars off is one of those rare people interactions, that poor employee who had Doey's stalker form looming over them while they tried to turn off a shock collar attached to a stuffed animal (who was also alive). Like, the second they left the store that dude 100% fainted BAHAHAHA. Doey's main focus is on himself, Bella, and Lucas, though I think it'd make sense for them to pick up a squad on the way out. Most toys were enjoying the carnage to some degree (or being torn apart in it) and most of the mini toys couldn't do much even after getting out of the building, these three were just lucky. There is no way in hell any of them would be willing to go back into the building, as much as they wish certain friends were here, it's just too much risk.
Honestly even after escaping I think they'd still be stuck in survival mode, scared of being dragged back at any moment and living in a world that is so new and scary. Most don't have very strong memories of being human, everything is new and to them, anything new is dangerous. They'd settle into a routine eventually I imagine... I believe in them :] Also for funsies! The Bron's name is Brandy, he remembers the most about being human (though not his own name as Brandy was a name he took after being a toy) and is in charge when it comes to figuring out new stuff. He is also the oldest of the group! The Daddy Long Leg is Dill, he also doesn't remember his real name. Dill and Doey are the main ones who do any sneaking that needs to be done, Dill is small and flexible, Doey is large and flexible. Finally there is the Catbee Amelia, who the only thing she remembers is her name. One of her antenna snapped off before meeting Doey and gang and she was the leader of her little squad, though I think she enjoys being able to take a backseat nowadays.
#that walmart employee sure will have a story to tell#normally ppl would be between perplexed or think dude's full of balooney#but here nobody bats an eye bc its freaking WALMART#prolly the only human these fellas feel relatively safe interacting with is that one stereotypical old granny who lives alone down the road#who literally doesnt realize theyre living toys bc her vision is soooo bad#reblogged#ppt#poppy playtime#doey the doughman#smiling critters
