my roommate is one of those people who will set numerous alarms for herself to wake up in the morning like up to an hour or two before she Actually needs to get up but sleeps through half of them (only to snooze/reset it for a couple of minutes before the next one rings again). and like if that's what you personally need to wake up in the morning whatever, But our rooms are adjacent and the walls are thin and i wake up Very easily to the sound of any sort of alarm (even quiet) which is to say It wakes me up like an hour and a half before i intend to get up and it prevents me from fully falling BACK asleep and it pisses me right the fuck off so bad

1. I LOVE your writing! You're amazing! 2. If it's not too much trouble, could I request something where Ezio's wife is feeling quite insecure because she feels like she isn't as good as some of the other women Ezio has "been" with like Caterina and Ezio is trying to assure her that she shouldn't feel like that
Of course!! Sorry that it's taken me so long to get round to this, I've hardly been active on Tumblr at all in quite a while but I miss it here :(
She glanced over to where the Contessa was being checked over by a doctor while Ezio worriedly looked over her. Deep down, she knew that he was only concerned because she was a powerful ally to the brotherhood and her arrest at the hands of the Borgia had put her contribution to that alliance in jeopardy. But she couldn't help but fear that he was worried because they had a history together.
Claudia had told (Y/n) enough of what her husband was like in his youth - romancing every attractive woman he laid eyes on. On good days, this made her feel special - she were the one he married, after all - but on worse ones, it made her worry that he felt he could do better and go back to some of these women. Ezio was a faithful man, especially when it came to family, but this didn't stop her from worrying that she may not quite reach what he's been treated to by other women in his past.
She must have been glaring a little too hard though, because soon enough, Claudia was by her side, her arms folded.
"The woman is fine, I have a meeting to attend and he’s holding it up to fuss over her.” She snapped in disdain, her voice lowered as to not carry across the stone walls of Isola Tiberina’s Assassin hideout.
“I don’t like it.” (Y/n) confessed, her eyes shooting daggers at the Contessa of Forli. Claudia raised a brow at the acid in her tone, finding it so unlike her sister-in-law to be so bitter. Glancing over at Claudia’s expression of surprise, she stepped her way out of the conversation to go and fetch Ezio. He had duties as Mentor of the Brotherhood and she had the claws of jealousy tying knots at her like a marionette. Emotions were something personal to (Y/n) and she wouldn’t watch herself become a wreck over some half-disgraced woman who had lost hold of her city.
She could remember Ezio telling her how impressed he was to see a woman running a city all on her lonesome once...
She cleared her throat, dismissing the thought as she did.
“Ezio, our contacts are waiting for you.” She spoke up, her face and voice the mask of business to hide her feelings.
“Sì, I just-”
“Bartolomeo has barracks to attend to, Volpe has a tavern to maintain and Claudia has a brothel to run.” She cut him off, watching as he turned his head quickly to face her, his expression a lock of shock and offence, “While they wait for you, their factions wait for them. You keep our entire Brotherhood on hold in a most dire hour to fuss over the Contessa who I’m sure if capable enough of getting her own health in order with the medico.” Ezio had stood now from Caterina’s side, bewildered at his wife’s ill temper.
“Amore-“
“You have a job to do so go do it!” She snapped, “I have recruits to attend to and correspondence to deal with.” And with that said, she stormed off to the study in order to deal with the letters sent from the Brotherhood’s contacts across Italia.
She set the few recruits that she had gathered in Roma some training assignments and filed through all the available contracts in the Mediterranean, even going as far as to reorganise all the books of the study’s library. All of this was done to avoid going to bed, knowing that Ezio would be there and knowing that he wold ask her about her attitude from earlier.
It was when she was obsessively trying to get the paperweights in position that the door opened. In stepped the last man that she was willing to face in that moment: her poor husband who had suffered the brunt of her lashing out in jealousy.
“Gioia,” He began, his tone soft yet cautious, “come to bed.”
“But I need to sort these out…”
“I’m sure that the papers won’t grow wings and start flying any time soon.” He walked behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist, resting his chin on her shoulder and inhaling deeply as he pressed his face to her neck, “Come, I want to hold you and talk.”
“I just need...” She obsessively tried to get the weight to fit between the lines of the letter perfectly, some part of her mind telling her that everything would be alright if all these little things were exactly where they needed to be, that she wouldn’t have to talk about her feelings if she just got these other things sorted out first.
“You need to lay down with your husband,” One of his palms splayed across her stomach, tenderly rubbing up and down as his other hand caressed her waist, “and let him hold you in his arms,” A soft kiss pressed to the nape of her neck, “and tell him all about what has you so stressed. Doesn’t that sound good?”
“Yeah, except the talking about my feelings bit.” She mumbled as the weight refused to quite fit between the lines, tears pricking her eyes, even if she tried to laugh a little. Ezio hummed knowingly.
“Come on…”
“Ok...” She surrendered, letting him lead her upstairs with one arm around her waist while his free hand held her own, smaller, hand in his.
He lead her up to their room where he began to strip her of her clothes that day, leaving her in a chemise. He frowned in sadness at her apathy, the way she didn’t melt into his touches as she usually would, and worry set into his veins.
He pulled her to the bed where he lay beside her, propped up on one elbow while she laid on her back, her bottom lip trembling, eyes glassy and jaw held tight in determination to keep a cool composure.
“What has upset you?”
“It’s stupid.” She replied simply, “I’m sorry if I’ve upset you or worried you, you don’t deserve that.” She took in a quick breath and covered her face with her hands, a small sob escaping her lips, each one that followed like a pair of scissors to his heartstrings.
“If it’s making you feel this way, it can’t be stupid.” He rested a hand on her arm and she turned away from him, her hand gripping the case of the pillow under her head impossibly tightly.
“It’s the Contessa.” She mumbled into the plush pillow, her cheeks already heating up in humiliation, “The way you risked your life to save her today and then you were fussing over her health and...”
“Amore, you know that I would do all the same and more for you.” He spoke, almost in disbelief that this is what she was so upset about. There was a long silence as she wrapped her arms around her torso, hoping that somehow she could physically hold herself together with her arms.
“Why did you marry me?” Fresh tears wet her cheeks and she muffled the sound of her crying in the sheets. He drew closer to her and held her in his arms, feeling her frame jolt with each sob.
“Because I’m in love with you.” He replied simply, “I’m in love with the way you see the world and people, I’m in love with your passion and humour and intelligence.” He squeezed her tightly.
“But you could have had any woman you pleased, any woman you’ve been with before. The countess of Forli: the only woman strong enough to run her own city and even fend off Borgia armies.” She hesitated but now that she had bottled up such strong emotions all day, the glass had cracked and no one could hold in its contents lest they slice their hands on the glass. “And don’t think I didn’t overhear that night back in Monteriggioni when I was still just the decipherer Leonardo had sent for the codex pages.”
Once upon a time, this would have been a time for Ezio to be boastful, but now that he was a married man, he only felt rather embarrassed instead. Looking away for a moment, his eyes came back to land upon his wife.
“You worry that you don’t live up to the women I’ve had before then?” He asked cautiously, knowing that this question may well only make things far worse if he were wrong.
“She’s a fucking countess who runs her own city and has her own armies, not to mention the fact that she’s also very clearly good in bed. Who am I? The goddamn babysitter of all the recruits.” She threw her hands up in the air before rolling onto her back and turning her head to face him, at last, with teary eyes.
“You, amore mio,” He began, reaching a hand up to cup her cheek, turning his body even more so in her direction, “are the woman who stole my heart so quickly, that I simply couldn’t wait to marry you.” It was true, they had only been seeing each other for just over 18 months when he asked her to marry him. “You’re an Assassin who is fighting for everyone in Roma and then all of Italia behind her borders.” A conviction began to grow within his voice as he took up her left hand in his, holding it up so that she could see her wedding and engagement rings. “You are the only woman in this world that I want to spend the rest of my life with.” He brought her hand up to place a kiss upon her knuckles. “I have had histories with women before, we both know this… But they are the past and you,” He leaned down to place a soft kiss upon her lips, lingering and tender, “are my future.”
A small smile quivered upon her lips as fresh tears welled in her eyes, tears of an overwhelming sentiment of love.
“I love you with all my heart, Ezio.”

"I'm really not up for this Pad, can't we just go for a beer at the Anchor instead?" Cillian complained to his younger brother.
"You haven't been out with us in months, Dermot has had this all planned out for ages Cill, come on!" He rolled his eyes, knowing he couldn't get out of it, no matter what he said. Pulling his boots on, the two of them left the house, getting into the waiting taxi outside.
Walking into the strip club via the VIP entrance at the back, Cillian kept his head low and his brother and friends close around him so as not to be seen. Last thing he needed was photos in the press of him coming here!
"We're here for The Secret Show? Booked under Padraig Murphy?" Paddy told the bouncer, who checked everyone's ID and led them through a curtained off section at the back of the club. No cameras, no members of the public, completely private.
The boys sat around the stage area, a waitress coming over to take their drinks order. Once she returned with them, the lights dimmed and the music from the movie Burlesque began to play through the speakers. A single spotlight on a stool on the stage.
Cillian could feel his cheeks burning, he genuinely had never felt so uncomfortable in his life. He'd never been to a place like this, had always avoided them like the plague. The idea of a stripper had never appealed to him. Someone he'd never met, stripping to her underwear to please him and his drunk friends and even more cringe-worthy, his little brother, was not something he was remotely interested in.
The dancer came out, swaying her hips as she walked to the stool. Perching herself on it, legs crossed. Dressed in a black corset, short black skirt, fishnet stockings, black stiletto heels, and a black masquerade mask covering the top half of her face. Her long, silky brown hair flowing loosely down her back.
She was beautiful, there was no mistaking it. Cillian spotted Paddy nudging Dermot and whispering something in his ear and rolled his eyes. Probably something incredibly inappropriate about the young girl in front of them. He couldn't help feel sorry for her - lecherous old men creeping all over her as she danced for them, throwing money at her like she was a cheap prostitute...
The routine began. Cillian remained stoic, arms folded across his chest while the other lads cheered, louder each time an item of clothing was sexily removed from her lithe body. Her heels had been kicked off, her stockings slowly moving down her thighs, he couldn't watch any more. Standing, he made his way over to the bar to order another Guinness.
"I'd have thought you'd be over there enjoying the show with your friends?" A familiar voice from behind the bar startled him.
"Kate?"
"Long time no see," she smiled.
"Wow! Last person I expected to bump into tonight, how are you?"
"I'm okay, I see you're doing pretty well too." He nodded, his latest film, Inception, had been a box office smash. Professionally, at least, he could say he was doing well.
"Yeah, I guess so." His head lowered slightly, as Kate placed his pint in front of him.
"You guess? You okay?"
"What? Oh yeah, yeah I'm fine. Although, no disrespect? Kinda wish I was anywhere but here right now!" He chuckled. Kate smirked.
"I get off in 20minutes, fancy a walk?"
"You know what, I'll take you up on that Kate. I'll meet you outside?"
"Deal."
Thirty minutes later, after Cillian had made his excuses to his brother, he was smoking a cigarette walking along the canal with Kate at his side.
"Did you travel the world like you planned after school?" He asked, stubbing the cigarette out on the floor.
"I did, a full year of travelling before I went to university."
"Where did you go?" She told him about Australia, backpacking across Vietnam and Thailand, before heading to California for three months on a work visa.
"It was amazing. Truly wonderful. I met some great people over there. But all good things must come to an end, right?" She looked at him, and quickly looked away.
"I couldn't stand in the way of you living your dream Kate, you know that. We ended on grand terms though, right?" She linked her arm through his and squeezed it.
"We did. Promised we'd stay in touch though didn't we..."
"Yeah, I admit that was my fault. Tanya wasn't overly keen on you was she?" His ex wife. Or soon to be ex, anyway.
"I'm sorry about what happened Cill. Are you okay?"
"I'm getting there, you know? If she'd rather fuck her friend's husband instead of her own, then so be it," he smiled as much as he could.
"Well if it's any consolation, she's clearly lost her mind." She squeezed his arm again, and he found himself moving it so it was wrapped over her shoulders. He could feel her shivering and pulled her a little tighter against him.
They approached a small apartment block around 100yards further down the canal, and Kate dug her keys out of her handbag.
"Thanks for walking me home. It was good to see you again," she smiled, unhooking herself from him.
"Maybe I could - " he was interrupted by the door opening, and a younger girl stood in the doorway with a toddler in her arms.
"I'm so sorry Kate, I gave her Calpol an hour ago but I couldn't get her to settle..."
"Hey it's okay, I'll take her now. Get yourself home sis, I'll see you tomorrow yeah?" The young girl nodded, before nodding at Cillian and heading off down the street.
"Liane grew up!" Cillian laughed. The last time he'd seen her she'd still been in primary school. "And who's this little one?" He reached for the toddlers hand, grinning when she took his little finger and squeezed it.
"This is my daughter, Lily."
"Well Lily, you've certainly got your mama's eyes, haven't you?" Cillian glanced quickly at Kate's left hand.
"Her Dad isn't around Cill, I'm not married." He bent his head down. Busted.
"Then am I allowed in for a coffee at least?"
"If you don't mind sharing me with a teething baby, then yes, you can come in!" Kate led him through and fetched the teething granules from the cupboard and a teething ring from the freezer. Cillian offered to take Lily while she prepped a cup of warm milk for her.
Seeing him bounce her on his arm made her smile.
"Reminds me of Jack and Niamh when they were teething. Had to be moving around, constantly needed distraction. You okay if I take her a walk around after? See if I still have the magic touch?"
Kate nodded, and took her back to give her the nurofen, teething granules, followed by her sippy cup of warm milk. Once she'd finished, Cillian offered his arms out for her. She reached up for him, surprising Kate as she normally shied away from strangers, and off they went around the apartment. She watched from a distance as he took her around, showing her the ornaments on the window ledge, her reflection in the mirror, bouncing her up and down as she giggled lightly.
After around fifteen minutes, he made his way over to the radio in the kitchen, fiddling with the buttons before he found the station he was looking for. Soft, gentle classical music played through the speakers. He turned the volume down so it was barely audible, and leaned Lily into his shoulder, rocking her side to side gently. She nuzzled into his neck, Kate watching, smiling, as her baby's eyes grew heavier. She could feel past feelings coming back as she watched them. As much as she'd pretended losing him when he left University to pursue his acting career was fine and she had gotten over it, she never had. And now, bumping into him again all these years later, those feelings were coming back with some force.
Lily was snoring gently in his arms now, and Kate gently took her from him. Taking her into a small room at the back of the apartment. Coming out ten minutes later and closing the door as quietly as possible.
"I'd say you still have it Cill," she laughed, switching the baby monitor on in the corner of the living room where he sat on the sofa, two glasses of red wine in front of him. "You read my mind."
She sat next to him, clinking her glass with his.
"Did you meet her Dad while you were travelling?" He asked, after taking a sip.
"Yeah.. he erm.. he died not long ago. Cancer."
"Shit I'm sorry... Oh Kate that's awful..."
"No it's okay.. it was just a brief fling you know, we weren't together or anything. But it's sad for her. She'll never have that father figure. Just me and her against the world now." She felt his fingers brush her hair out of her face and gently down her cheek. Turning to him, she put her glass down on the table and turned to face him. He placed his down too, and moved closer.
Their faces centimetres apart, she could feel his warm breath against her own.
"I should probably go..."
"Again?" She whispered. She didn't want him to leave her again, as much as he had no intention of actually leaving. Their lips met, a kiss that was fifteen years overdue.
"I haven't spent a day not thinking about you, Kate..." He smiled, pulling away.
"You mean that, or are you just looking to get your end away?"
"Which is why I'm going to kiss you now, and go home. But I want to see you again. If I can?"
"And what if I don't want you to go home..." She kissed him again, this time straddling her legs over his thighs on the sofa. Even if this was a one night stand for him, she needed him, and he wasn't getting away this time.
"Then I'm not going home." His hips rose to meet hers, gyrating over his erection under his jeans, both of them removing each others clothes in record time until they were left in just their underwear.
"My god, you're incredible... Let me taste you..." He flipped her onto her back on the sofa, spreading her legs and placing gentle kisses along the inside of her thighs. His fingers teasing against her underwear, softly caressing her mound, before sliding a finger inside and groaning at how wet she was already.
"Cillian please...." She almost whimpered underneath him, her hips squirming against his lips and fingers. He pulled her underwear down her legs, and unceremoniously threw them across the room before moving his lips to her open slit, drawing his tongue slowly up and down her folds. Her hand flew to her mouth, stifling the cry of ecstacy within it so as not to wake Lily.
"You need to be quiet, you're not going to want me to stop once I've started Kate..." He smirked, before attacking her clit with his mouth, drawing it between his lips, rolling his tongue over it, increasing the pressure. His fingers pressing into her thighs, surely leaving bruises, as his mouth worked magic on her, her hips rocking against him.
"Oh god... That's so good, please don't stop..." Her words coming out in breathy little moans as her orgasm built quickly. Her fingers tangled in his hair, pulling him where she needed him. Two fingers suddenly entered her, making her gasp as they found the small bundle of nerves deep inside her, pushing and rubbing against it hard, matching his motions against her clit. Suddenly his mouth was off her, his fingers pumping into her, the palm of his hand pressed against her clit now as he moved his body up, his lips now pressed to hers. The taste of herself on him turned her on further, and she could feel herself letting go.
"Cum for me..." He whispered in her ear, sending her over the edge with a small cry into his shoulder, her body writhing against him. His fingers removed, replaced with his now solid cock as it pushed inside her quickly, picking up the same pace his hands were, hard and fast thrusts as he hooked her leg up under his elbow, forcing himself deeper.
Her nails scraped over his shoulders as she buried her face into his neck, frantic thrusts against each other, fifteen years of buried feelings coming out of them with a force that took her breath away.
"Yes... God yes..." Her moans into his neck drove him wild, her walls contracting around him pushing him closer. He could feel another orgasm building inside her, and angled his thrusts to hit that magical spot inside her perfectly.
"I'm so close Kate... So fucking close, you feel so good around me..."
"Cum inside me Cillian, please..." He grunted against her ear, nibbling on it gently as his hips pounded into her relentlessly now. Reaching his high, he flooded her, spilling inside her with a deep groan into her neck, sending her into her second orgasm, her legs wrapping tightly around his back pulling him even deeper inside her as she felt his cock pulsate, emptying into her.
He rested his forehead against hers, both of them panting, smiles forming as they looked into each others eyes.
"You're on the pill, right?" He chuckled, coming back to his senses.
"No." He lifted his head quickly.
"What?" She started to giggle, grinning at him.
"I'm on the coil, you're fine, don't worry!" He rested his head back into her neck, breathing a sigh of relief.
"Good to hear. I think three kids between us is enough for now, don't you?"
"What do you mean, for now?"
"I made the biggest mistake of my life leaving you Kate, I'm not planning on doing it again," his lips gently kissed the side of her neck, running the tip of his nose along her jawline softly.
He pulled out of her with a groan, taking her hand and leading her into her bedroom - he'd clocked which one it was earlier that evening.
Kate smiled watching him grow hard again, knowing not much sleeping was going to be done once they got in there...

A/n: The timeline in this has been altered, as there I things I wanted to include but I also wanted this fic to follow the storyline/timeline of Winter Soldier and Civil war.So for purposes of this fanfic, Peter Parker was discovered by Tony at a much younger age - when he was bitten - and has been an intern with him since, almost like a protégée.(For the purposes of this story Peter was bitten much younger too - more like when he was 9 or ten rather than 14/15)

Life at the tower was...tiring, to say the least. During my free time I often found myself in the gym, lobbing knives at a target and trying my hardest not to biting one in Steve's chest every time he would correct my technique. When I wasn't trying to murder the avenger in cold blood, I was usually dragged into things by the other: briefings and debriefing for missions I'd never go on, my dad's parties, group training sessions and study periods with Bruce in his labs to name a few.
But for now, I was huddled in my rooms - fresh out of a hot shower after a brutal two hour training session and four mile run with Natasha - curled up on my bed and attempting to catch up on a few of the films I'd missed. But the exhaustion and drowsiness clouded my eyes, the noise from the TV merely in the background as I felt my eyes growing heavier by the second.
A sharp knock at the door snapped my out of my lowsey state, the people movie across the screen simple a blur of colour as my eyes darted past the tv and over to the door.
"Mr Stark is waiting at your door. Would you like me to let him in?" FRIDAY's evenly calm voice chimed, making me groan and mumble a 'no' into my pillows. The last person I wanted to see right now was my dad.
"Come on kid, let me in." My dad called from the other side of the door, and I could practically hear him roll his eyes and shake his head when I stayed silent. When he spoke again, it wasn't directed at me. "FRIDAY, override command and open the door."
"Wait! That's hardly fair!" I whined like a five year old, groaning again when the door swung open and my dad stood on the other side, quite clearly just as exhausted as I was.
"Get used to it, kiddo. Life isn't fair." Tony chided, walking over to my bed. I tried to shuffle away slightly when I felt the bed dip, my dad perching on the edge as his eyes scanned over the room. "I see you haven't decorated yet." He commented casually, as if nothing had ever happened between us.
"Yeah, well, I thought It'd be a shame to spend so much time on something when you're probably waiting to kick me out anyway." I mumbled, refusing to look at him.
"What the hell is wrong with you, y/n? Ever since you got back you've been-"
"Acting different?" I cut in, and when Tony simply swallowed thickly I nodded. "Funny that, seeing as I was kidnapped and tortured for three years. Not to mention made to kill people for another year after that."
"Y/n I'm sorry..."
"But you're not! You can't be, otherwise you'd actually have tried to save me, rather than leaving me to rot!" My voice cracked, tears pricked at my eyes and I now sat up straight in my bed, facing my dad but not looking him in the eye. "And you can't change that, you can't go back in the past and fix your mistake. And trying to fix it now sure as hell won't work, so I suggest you leave before I'm tempted to use you as my target for my training session tomorrow." I raised my voice, eyes now keeping his captive as the tears rolled freely down my cheeks.
"Oh, kid, they broke you." Tony murmured, cupping my cheek with his hand, eyes swimming with sorrow. Sorrow that I didn't want.
"You can't fix me either, because I'm not broken!" I said harsher now, voice only getting louder. "I don't need to be fixed..." I trailed off, voice barely above a whisper Joe as my eyes broke the contact, averting to my lap as the tears dropped onto the bed sheets.
That's how I found myself in my fathers arms, face pressed against his shoulder as the sobs made my body shake, hiccups escaping me as I tried to speak.
"A-all I needed W-was my D-dad, and yo- you took him f-from me!" I wailed, hands clutching my dad's shirt and his arms wrapped protectively around my shoulder, hands rubbing circles over my back soothingly.
"I know, kiddo. I'm sorry."
...
"Who is that?" Clint frowned, staring at the pictures scattered over the table in front of Natasha and Steve as they studied them deeply,  brows creased in thought.
"Our newest pain in the ass." Tony answered for them, slapping a thick folder down in front of Clint as he said so. The marksman was quick to pick it up, flicking through the documents, news stories and information sheets greedily.
"The...winter soldier?" He asked, looking at the three superheroes in front of him as if they'd gone mad. "But he's a ghost story!"
"I've seen him. Been shot by him, actually." Nat said, an sadistically proud smirk forming on her lips with her last words, almost as if it were an achievement.
"We're trying to find out more about him, maybe that way we can beat him." Steve explained, sitting back in his chair with crossed arms as he huffed in defeat, sick to death with staring at the same five pictures all morning.
Y/n walked in, a skip in her step as she crossed the room to Tony.
"Morning, dad." She greeted, placing a quick kiss to his cheek and heading over to the cupboard to grab a mug. Clint and Natasha frowned in confusion, looking between the two as if they'd witnessed pigs fly.
Tony shrugged, y/n too preoccupied with making herself a coffee to notice the avengers' reactions. When her coffee was done, y/n swiped her mug from under the machine and sipped happily, letting out a content sigh before wandering over to stand behind Natasha.
"What are you working on?" She asked, peering over the spy's shoulder to get a glimpse of the pictures.
A loud smash crashed through the room, Tony's eyes widening in shock and Natasha jumping from her seat in order to not get covered in spilt coffee. Y/n stood paralysed, eyes never leaving the photo in front of her as she started at the Soldier. Steve frowned deeply, studying the girl as her eyes glossed over with with what seemed to be...sadness.
Clint was already at her side, a comforting hand on her shoulder as they all asked y/n what had happened and if she was alright. It was like a constant ringing in her ear interrupted their words before they reached her ears, and y/n suddenly felt nauseous as she starred at the bright red star on the soldier's arm, his long and messy dark hair shrouding his face and his leather clad, muscular body. Only his cerulean blue eyes could be seen, the rest of his face covered in a black mask she didn't usually see him in.
"I-I need some air." She stuttered, stumbling blindly out of the room and down the stairs, tipping over a few steps from the bottom and tumbling down the last few. She quickly pulled herself to her feet, hearing still ringing and vision offset, hazy, as she scrambled for the double glass doors. Luckily they already stood open, so she flew through them and out into the busy streets of New York.
Y/n found herself colliding will someone almost instantly, angry shouts of 'hey, watch it!' And 'look where the fuck you're going, kid!' Being called after her like a chorus as she pushed through the bustling people.
She finally stopped, dropping to her knees and simply staring straight ahead, no intended subject in her line of vision as she tried to comprehend the-the grief, at seeing the a soldier's face again.
It had only been two weeks, and yet two weeks without him, his touch, his scent - it felt like an eternity to y/n now. She hasn't registered what her feeling meant for him before, liking him beyond a source of comfort had just felt...wrong, after all he'd done, and yet y/n couldn't deny it.
She was in love with the Winter Soldier, and she didn't even know his name.
...
I wasn't aware of when someone had found me, nor of how they got me back to the tower or even how I was now stood staring blankly out of the window that stood next to my bed. I gazed longingly, almost as if I stared long enough, hard enough, he'd appear.
But of course he wouldn't, he was probably half way across the world, knowing HYDRA. A soft knock on my door and my head was turning, facing my visitor with a look of pure grief and want. Desperate, unhinged want that could eat you up from inside out and you'd still feel it.
"Hey, y/n. Can I talk to you for a moment?" Nat asked tentatively, clearing trying to to disturb my shaken up state. I nodded, offering a small smile which she returned as I now faced her. She walked up to me, talking my hands him hers and playing with the as she spoke, eyes kind and full of understanding.
"There's a mission, and we want you to go." She said calmly, almost as if the mere thought of it would send me into some kind of heart attack.
"Okay," I begun, eyes flitting down to the floor before back up again. "What is it? Aren't you scared that I'm still HYDRA and all I'd do is stab someone in the back?"
"Not exactly." Nat informed me with a smile, amusement glinting in her eyes at my assumption. "For starters, we all trust you, well maybe not steve - but everyone else does." Nat and I both laughed slightly. "And I think you wouldn't have it any other way it to go on the mission yourself." Nat finished.
"How come?" I asked, brow raised.
"There's been a lead..." she started. "On the winter soldier. We thought you might want to help check it out, possibly capture him. Your powers may be the best chance we have a detaining someone as strong as him." Nat spoke. "And if we can detain him.."
"We can save him." I finished.
"Exactly."

Daredevil, Crackfic challenge.

Matthew Murdock was walking silently, focusing hard on his -available- senses to find what he was looking for.
Unfortunately, the solo vigilante couldn't seem to find it and, thus, turned to the next aisle.
As it turns out, enhanced hearing and physical abilities are not exactly suited for looking through an Aldi for clothes.
Matt passed quickly through the current aisle he was in -as all he could smell was soup- and turned to the next with the hope of finally finding the shirts he was looking for.
Why do they always change the layout of this place? He thought, annoyed.
At long last, Matt picked up the scent of new clothes, freshly out of whatever garage they were kept in before being put on the shelves.
Slowly and meticulously, he felt the cloths to check the material.
He would have to ask an employee about the colour of the shirts he was picking since he didn't want a repeat of that time; Foggy still cried with laughter when remembering that incident.
Matt held out his white cane in one hand and a shirt in the other and set to find any employee to help him.
Thankfully, he didn't have to look far as one rushed to him, immediately asking if he wanted help.
"Yes, could you tell me what colour these shirts are?" He asked, presenting the clothe to the worker.
"White." The employee said with a little too much excitement.
First day, Matt thought and asked for the size of it.
The shirt in his hand was in his size, luckily, and he went back with the same employee to get more of them.
Lord knows how easily they get dirty, so it made sense for the lawyer to buy them in bulk.
"Would that be all, sir?" The employee asked, basically balancing on the balls of their feet, in his hands were five shirts that they insisted on carrying.
Matt thought for only a second before he decided to ask about what kind of clothe detergent would be appropriate for hard stains.
The employee lead him through the building and into an aisle that had a suspicious lack of the usual scent of chemical cleaning products.
"These do wonders for all kind of stains and odors!" The worker said as Matt stood there, very much unable to see whatever 'these' were.
"Oh, shit!" Matt heard being whispered and next thing he knew there were small, odd textured balls in his fist and a slight scent of vinegar wafted in front of him.
"Throw these in with the clothes and they'll be just like new!" Matt could practically hear the worker's excited smile, just like a salesman he had seen on television one late night when his father hadn't yet returned from the ring.
Matt put on his best smile and thanked the employee before he was lead -more unwilling than not- to the checkout after saying that he didn't need anything else when he was asked.
It didn't take long for the cashier to scan his items and soon, the lawyer was on his way to his apartment to drop his things off before heading to work.
It was still early enough that he didn’t have to run but Matt didn't want to dawdle for long.
After all, he had customers waiting for him.
Unfortunately, it was while thinking of one customer that he missteped, tripping over the little crack on the pavement and falling onto the ground.
As both his hands were currently occupied, Matt didn't have a way to break his fall, unless he wasn't against using the perfectly placed trash bin beside him.
Well, he was, and thus opted to fall to the ground.
And, this being New York, the ground was the worst choice that won you four different kinds of tetanus and more importantly, dirt. So much dirt.
So, it wasn't surprising when Matt's perfectly clean-and-ready-for-lawyering shirt went from white to a nice brown-gray almost immediately.
Instantly, the people on the sidewalk on his side came to a stop, looking at the downed blind man for a moment and promptly walking away.
This is fine, Matt thought and picked himself -and his bags- up by seeing through his fire-filled world.
Once up, Matt decided to grab a fresh shirt while he left his bags at his apartment; walking a little faster since he didn't want to be late for work.
It wasn't long before he had the fresh, clean smelling, shirt on and running out of the door as quickly as a 'blind' man could without bumping into every corner.
A relatively short walk took Matt right outside the building's main door and through their office's one.
He greeted his coworkers, Foggy and Karen, as per usual and sat down on his own desk to get started on reading some new cases they debated taking.
It wasn't until an hour later that Matt got up to get [something]. The [whatever] was above his head and Matt reached his hand up to grab it, already hearing Karen getting up to help him if needed.
Foggy looked up from his own papers for a second, bit did a double take fast at the red colour on Matt's white shirt as his suit jacket lifted with the movement of his arm.
He got up and slowly walked over, Karen still looming behind the blind lawyer while said lawyer held [REDACTED] in his hand.
"Matty, can I speak to you for a second?"
Matt tilted his head slightly and nodded, allowing Foggy to lead him over to his office before closing the door.
Foggy let Matt's forearm go as soon as they were inside the small room and sighed;
"It's way too early for this, Matt."
Matt frowned in confusion at the, what felt like, scolding that was brewing inside Foggy's mind.
"It's 12 P.M., Fog, we both decided on the time to come into work." He said, genuinely confused.
"What? No, I don't mean that it's too early for work, I'm saying it's too early for all your-" Foggy waved his hand around like he was performing a spell, -Matt would have laughed, had he... you know-, "-vigilantism."
"I wasn't vigi- I wasn't fighting bad guys before work, Foggy!"
Foggy's silence said so much to Matt as he could feel the dubious side eye he was getting.
"I wasn't fighting bad guys before work today, Foggy."
He heard Foggy huff at that but he seemed to relent.
"Why are you bleeding, then?" Foggy whispered angrily.
"I'm not bleeding." Matt said, seriously confused now.
"Yes, you are." Foggy insisted.
"No." One word to kill a man.
"Matt! You have blood here!" He said and poked his finger right where the 'wound' was, absolutely taking into consideration that that could have hurt. Absolutely.
Matt felt the poke but it didn't hurt so he put his own hand above the spot Foggy had pointed at.
He felt an odd texture over the spot, unlike the texture of the rest of the shirt and realisation hit him.
"This... is an old shirt."  He said quietly, "Shit, I grabbed the wrong shirt."
"Let's just go to your apartment to grab another one." Foggy suggested, "Unless you can produce one from thin air." Matt couldn't.
Both man grabbed their suitcases before making a beeline for the exit when Karen stopped them.
"Where are you going, guys? The office is swarming with customers right now." She said as she pointed it to their very, very empty office space.
"We won't be long, Ms Paige!" Foggy announced, practically dragging Matt behind him.
-
The two avocados found themselves in Matt's apartment soon and instantly Foggy raided the closet for a clean shirt for his friend to wear while Matt took off the dirty one and threw it in the washing machine.
Foggy stopped looking through the clothes -or lack thereof- when he heard strange scrunching sounds.
The man really got a kick when he saw Matt trying to open a plastic bag with some kind of nuts in it.
"Matt..." He called out, "What have I told you about making sure you eat in the morning?"
"This isn't breakfast, Fog." Matt said while still struggling, "This is for the washing machine."
"Your washing machine is hungry?" Foggy whispered, perplexed.
"No." Double homicide.
Foggy walked closer to Matt and saw more clearly the little baggie.
"Oh, walnuts! I thought they were out of season." Foggy said in a moment of enlightenment.
"They are not walnuts, they're soapnuts!"
"They're what now?"
"Soapnuts. They're supposed to be great at cleaning even the hardest stain."
"Uh, even blood?" He sounded doubtful, as he should.
"Well, the worker at the store said they work wonders."
"Okay, but. Blood, Matt. That does not come off easily as you know."
"We'll just give it a try, Foggy." Matt said and threw some of the nuts in the washing machine before starting a half-hour cycle.
Foggy mumbled a variation of 'alright' and went back to the closet.
He grabbed a shirt that seemed new and threw it at Matt who was busy "staring" at the wall right next to the washing machine.
Matt caught the shirt moments before it fell to the floor after hitting his face and put it on with a 'thanks, Fog.
The half-hour washing cycle turned out to take up three quarters of an hour, so that was a fucking lie, and Matt got the wet shirt out of it, holding it up;
"Perfect!" He exclaimed and heard Foggy shuffling next to him.
"Matthew?" His friend said slowly, carefully.
"Mhm?" Matt replied, eloquent as ever.
"The shirt is white, right?"
"Yes. Isn't it?"
"Uh... Pastel pink has some white in it, I guess."
"Well, yes. Pastel pink has to have whit- Wait a minute!" Matt stopped abruptly, "This shirt isn't white anymore, is it?"
"Nope!" Foggy popped the 'P' like he was a 14-year-old girl getting ready to be lawfully abducted by a boy band.
"Damn." Matt sighed.
"Careful with those damns, Matthew."
"Sorry, Father- FOGGY!" Matt shouted, scandalised.
Foggy snorted as he and Matt put the, now, pink shirt away and grabbed their things to head back to the office, wondering how Karen is doing.
-
Karen sat on her desk, typing away at her computer all the people she saw today with new cases.
It was a busy day with more customers that usual.
Two.

Groggily wiping your closed eyes, you awoke from a deep sleep. It didn't take long to realize the sheets around you weren't yours. You weren't in your bedroom. You weren't even in your house.
You sat up on the pullout, more alert. Rubbing the sides of your head with your fingertips, you desperately tried to put the pieces of last night together. The clock next to the unmounted flat-screen told you it was two pm. What happened to you?
"Good morning, honey bunny! Or should I say good afternoon?" The cheery voice that broke your confused silence was easy to recognize as Sasha.
What you were doing in the living room of her apartment, you didn't know.  You turned around to see her cooking food for the two of you.
The early events of the night before were clear as day when you retraced your steps. Catching up with everyone, Hitch, Zeke's fiasco, and dancing around were all things you had no issue recalling.
However, there was one last detail just out of your grasp. Dancing with your friends. . . then with Mikasa. . . but what happened after that? Was it- oh, fuck.
Realization set in and you scrambled off the couch. Clothes from the night clung to your body as you stumbled into Sasha's bright kitchen.
Sitting down on a stool with wide eyes earned you a concerned look. Sasha raised an eyebrow. "Are you okay, Y/n? You look a little sick."
You shook your head. "I'm such an idiot. Can you believe I kissed her? I bet she didn't even want to."
She chuckled and pushed a plate of food in front of you. "From what I remember, she's the one who initiated it."
"I can't remember anything that happened after that. Fill me in?" You started eating your breakfast as you awaited their answer.
"Well, to put it simply, you fainted."
"What?!"
"Yeah, right after you pulled away. You were just out after that. It's really weird how that happened, actually," She put a finger to her chin as she reminisced.
The food on your fork toppled off as you stilled in shock. "Sasha! You better be joking! That's so embarrassing, oh my god."
In an instant, she was leaning over the table to steady your frantic gesticulating arms.
"Hey, hey, honey bunny. Don't freak out. We were all pretty worried about you. Nobody laughed if that's any comfort to you. To help out Marco, I took you back here after I dropped off Connie. He didn't need to worry about you when he had the three drunk idiots to drive home." She took your free hand in hers.
"I should probably text them so they know I'm okay." You left your food unattended as you walked back to the couch to look for your discarded phone. Sasha took it as a sign that you were done and helped herself to the meal.
"I got a picture of you two if you wanna see it," she said nonchalantly through a mouthful of food.
You stopped your searching. "What? Mikasa and I? When?"
"Well, I got a few, actually. I have one of you dancing with her and one of you kissing her. And some others from when Connie and I were joking around."
"Sasha, why?" you groaned. "I already get enough cameras in my face."
She shrugged and continued eating your breakfast. You moved the couch pillows around in hopes of finding your phone.
A reoccurring buzz vibrated the carpet under the pulled-out mattress. You reached under to grab whatever the noise came from.
Luckily, it was your phone. Unluckily, it was blowing up with texts from Jean and Eren. The familiar ringtone sounded as a call from Jean came through. You rushed to pick it up.
"Hello? Jean? Woah, slow down, what's going on?" You could barely make sense of his frantic words on the other side of the line.
"Y/n, thank god you picked up. Armin's hurt. We're heading to the hospital right now. We think he has a concussion or something."
"What? Oh my god, what happened? How is he?"
"We'll explain later. Come when you can. It's the same hospital we went to when Eren broke his arm."
"Got it, Jean. I'll be there. Keep him safe."
"Of course."
He hung up. You started towards the front door. "We have to go, Sasha."
"Why? What happened? You sound pretty worried. At least change before you got out. I have a spare set of clothes for you," she offered, already on the way to their bedroom.
"No time. I'll change on the way to the hospital." You unlocked the door.
"The what?" Their confusion and worry were clear from their tone. Despite that, she nodded and frantically reached for her car keys, extra outfit already in hand.
Once she got a hold of them, you both jumped in the car and set off to the hospital.
"What the hell happened to you?" You were seated on the left side of the hospital bed with the rest of your bandmates scattered throughout the bland room.
"To tell you the truth, I fell down a flight of stairs," Armin said sheepishly.
"With a light push from Eren," Mikasa added.
"I didn't mean to push him! I bumped into him!"
"Yeah, nice one, Eren. You're a certified douchebag." Jean rolled his eyes.
"Coming from you, Jean, that's rich." Eren glared back at him.
"Man, why couldn't Eren fall down the stairs." Armin clawed at the bandage on his head in annoyance. "This thing is itchy."
"It's because you are stupid, and I am not," Eren fired back. You snorted.
"Oh yeah, definitely. Remind me who graduated early from college and who dropped out again?"
He scowled. "You dropped out too, idiot."
"Right, but I did it for the band. You did it because it was too hard," you snickered.
"Damn, Y/n. Go a little easy on me, will you? I spent my whole morning at the police station." He pinched the bridge of his nose like he had a headache.
Confused, you looked at Mikasa, hoping for an explanation. She avoided your eyes and stared at the ground instead. It was the third time she wouldn't directly look at you since you got there.
Armin noticed the interaction and frowned. "He went to get Zeke out of jail," they explained.
Eren sighed. "That was the plan. Until I changed my mind. The bail was a lot of money and, frankly, with all the shit he did, it wasn't worth it. It's a shame he'll miss my birthday again but what good would he cause anyways."
"Oh, I see."
As distraught as he was the night prior, Eren was able to toughen up with Zeke instead of letting him back into his life so easily. It was admirable he could do such a thing after his previous reactions to Zeke's shenanigans.
"What did he even do? I guess he pawned that guy's wedding ring but isn't he banned from Nebraska?" Jean pondered.
"Well, he didn't lie about some things. He is several million dollars in debt and he was on the run from the police. Explains why he looked like he was gonna shit his pants when the cops showed up last night," Eren said.
"Okay, but what did he do specifically?" Jean asked again.
"Oh, right. He robbed banks like it was a game. The motherfucker was literally bank hopping around Nebraska. Plus, he stole a bunch of shit from people and pawned it all. There were so many complaints filed against him that he was banned from a ton of pawnshops. He wasn't banned from the state. Just enough places that he felt like he was."
Jean's jaw dropped. "How many banks did he rob?"
Eren shrugged. "Around thirty."
"Thirty? What the hell is that guy on?" he mumbled.
You were surprised as well but glad it wasn't worse. Still, you couldn't believe that he'd been staying with you for less than a week and he already stirred up a whirlwind of problems.
Silence had fallen over the room for a moment before Armin broke it. "Y/n, can I talk to you for a minute? Alone," he said.
"Sure." You were curious about what he had to say to you. He'd been all fidgety during the whole half hour you were there.
Eren and Jean turned from their position on either side of the door and walked out. Mikasa stood from her seat to follow. She shot you one last glance but looked away before your eyes could meet.
Once the three were gone, you scooted your chair closer to the bed.
"What's up?"
Armin's brows furrowed as he brought his nail between his teeth. "Do you know what's going on with Mikasa? She's been acting weird all day. She's always been the closed-off type but she hasn't said more than a few words to us all day."
You frowned. If Mikasa was not only avoiding you but the others too, you could only assume what was on her mind.
"You don't remember last night? Is amnesia a result of the fall?"
He blinked, confusion still evident. "No, I don't think so. Eren and Jean are just as clueless as I am."
Then you remembered how drunk the three of them were the night before. They must've lost track of things after having enough drinks. So Mikasa hadn't bothered to fill them in.
You tugged at Sasha's shirt collar nervously. "Mikasa kissed me." Armin's mouth fell open. Words came out fast as you tried to explain, "Or I kissed her. It's a little fuzzy, I fainted afterward. Sasha said Mikasa initiated it, though."
"You- she what? You actually- wait, you fainted? Y/n, are you okay?" The panic in his voice rose as the confusion dissolved.
You placed a hand on his upper arm to stop him from sitting all the way up. "I'm fine. Don't worry about me. I'm not the one in the hospital bed, after all."
He smiled at that. "I guess that's true. But anyway, how was it?"
You felt your face heat up. You weren't expecting them to be so forward. Clearing your throat, you replied, "The kiss was. . . yeah, I'd say it was good."
They grinned. "I'm glad you finally acted on those feelings. Christ's sake, Y/n. You've liked her for how many years now?"
You smiled shyly. "Jeez, I don't know. Quite a few. But don't get your hopes up or anything. She clearly thinks it was a mistake."
Armin's smile disappeared. "You've gotta stop thinking like that. More likely than not, she needs some time to process. You know she gets reserved when she has to think."
So reserved to leave for two years?  Yeah, you knew. You were beginning to believe her behavior would lead to worse.
The blonde seemed to sense something deeper was nagging at you. "Wait, have you ever actually talked about what happened? I figured you spoke to Eren but now that I think about it, whenever anyone brought her up you shut it down."
That was enough to get you thinking. When Mikasa was gone, your friends knew better than to ask about her. Armin was right, you always shut it down.
You never spoke about how her disappearance made you feel. You never even wanted to think about it. There were times when you couldn't push the feelings away anymore. Times when you couldn't do anything but cry.
Whenever that happened, you made a beeline for Eren. He was the only one you knew wouldn't pry. You never had to say anything. He would just understand. He never told anyone. He never complained. He never asked. He let you cry until you couldn't anymore. He was someone you were very grateful for.
Mikasa's leave was something that affected you more than you let on. Even if it was easy to tell that it was hard for you to deal with, no one knew the extent to which it was.
Remembering that time brought back every feeling you never dwelled on. You couldn't go through it all again. You knew why it was hard to think positively about that kiss.
"I don't want her to leave," you whispered, voice coming out more shaky than you intended. "I can't do it, not again."
Armin looked surprised. "Do you think she'd leave again? Why?"
Lifting your head, your gaze shifted from the floor to his wide blue eyes. "The last time something impacted her emotions so quickly she left us."
He nodded as realization dawned on him. "But the difference between now and then is that this is a positive thing. Come on, Y/n, I'm not blind. Before she and Jean were together, you were dancing around each other for years. Even Jean was shocked when she asked him out and not you."
You thought about that for a moment. Right he was again. There were always moments between you and her before Jean. You always thought you two had an unspoken connection until she asked him out. It seemed others thought so as well.
You smiled hopefully. "Yeah, you're right. Maybe this is a good thing. I mean, I've had these feelings for years so maybe it's good I finally acted on them."
They smiled back. "Hope so. Just give her some time and she'll come around. It's Mikasa, of all people she would never ignore-"
The door banged open just as Armin was finishing his sentence.
Eren stood in the doorway with his phone held up and Mikasa and Jean not far behind.
"Hannes called. Couldn't wait any longer to ask. Are you two down for a performance at the beginning of next month?" He exhaled heavily, out of breath for some reason. "Mikasa and Jean here are already on board."
"You're coming back to the band, Mikasa?" Armin asked.
"Yeah. I miss it," Mikasa said quietly.
"Of course I'm down. It's been so long since we've performed," you chimed.
"So it's settled then. First performance in three months plus Mikasa's big comeback on April 2nd," Jean confirmed.

Happiness Isn't Here, Chapter 1, (Jan-centric) - Joley
ao3 link
“Jan?” her coworker gently shaking her by the shoulder wasn’t enough to jolt her awake. So she repeated her name louder and shook her a bit harder. “Jan!”
Jan picked her head up, a piece of paper stuck to her cheek. The coffee cup next to her had yet to be touched and her briefcase was still open at her feet, only partially unpacked. “Huh?” As her eyes adjusted the world into focus, she remembered that she was at her desk, in her office, at work, rather than her desk, in her office, at home, where she had passed out last. “I’m awake! I’m good, I’m fine. What’s up?”
The woman arched her brow, but decided it wasn’t worth harping on the issue. “Right, anyway. Here are the updates on the Wilson case,” she said, dropping a manila folder on Jan’s desk. “And not for nothing, but you might want to look alive. Word is you’re looking at a promotion to junior partner by the end of the week, it wouldn’t hurt to do what you can to seal the deal.”
It wasn’t clear to Jan if the woman had said anything else after ‘junior partner’ – a ringing started in her ears that drowned everything out. Her head started pounding and the room started spinning, she could barely focus on the muffin she grabbed and took a bite out of, hoping that it was just an empty stomach that made her feel so sick. When she did finish the muffin, she was relieved that her surroundings were now staying still, but it didn’t alleviate the knot in her stomach or the tightness in her chest.
Air. She just needed some fresh air, that was all. She hung her blazer on the back of her chair and bolted through the office, only stilling to catch her breath when she was in the elevator. Having been up on the fortieth floor, it stopped a few times on the way down, making her start to fidget and bounce on her heels until she finally hit the ground floor.
“This is good news, Jan. Why aren’t you happy?” Jan leaned her head against the wall and groaned. “Why can’t you be happy?” She squeezed her eyes shut, hoping that she’d feel better when she opened them.
While she had calmed down, yes, she couldn’t say she was feeling much better. She stared out in front of her, at people of every shape, size, and color walking around, then further up at the bright lights, albeit more subdued in the daytime. Her eyes ended up fixating on one of the billboards animated on another skyscraper. It was an advertisement for some sort of ice cream, showing a woman in a peaceful, open space and taking an indulgent spoonful. It read, ‘where is your happy place?’ and transitioned to another ad shortly after.
“Well, that’s a little on the nose,” Jan murmured with a roll of her eyes. But she did pose the question to herself – where was her happy place?
Theatre camp. Oh, how she loved and longed for that summer, the one she might argue was the peak of her adolescence. Every day she got to perform, whether it was improv or reenacting songs and scenes from her favorite musicals. And every night, she got to make new memories of another, more intimate kind.
Jan decided to siphon whatever lingering serotonin she could from those memories as she stood up. She had only just turned to head back into the building when–
“Jan? Jan Sport?”
“Yeah?” Jan, at first, wasn’t sure if she was still daydreaming. She had to be, because the last time she had heard that distinct voice… No way. Okay, there were simply too many coincidences in a row for it to not mean something. “Oh my god, Crystal? Is that really you?”
Crystal beamed brightly and nearly knocked Jan over when she hugged her. “This is so crazy!” When she finally let go, she took a step back to look Jan over – a lot had changed in the ten years since they had last seen each other. “And you got even hotter, crazy. What’re you up to these days?”
“I work there,” Jan pointed at the building behind her. “Law firm. Busy, boring stuff. What about you?”
“I was in charge of props and scenery for an Off-Off-Broadway show, but the run was cut short. It turns out, people didn’t want another musical about a historical figure. It’s a shame, I thought Van Buren had potential,” she explained. “Bad timing, huh? I’m leaving tomorrow.”
Jan deflated as the sparks of excitement started tapering out. “You are? To where?”
Crystal’s smile weakened, a tinge of embarrassment in her expression. “Back to Springfield. I know it’s not as… exciting as Manhattan, but it’s where I’m happiest. Sometimes that’s what’s gotta come first, y’know? I miss being that happy.”
The cogs were already turning in Jan’s mind. This was kismet, it had to be. There couldn’t have been a more obvious hint unless it was a neon sign literally blinking in her face. “Absolutely, I totally get it. And good for you for prioritizing like that, I’m sure it’ll save you a lot of money too.”
“Definitely. But hey, let me give you my number. If you’re ever in the area, let me know. I’d love to catch up,” Crystal smiled, putting her number in Jan’s phone when the other girl all but shoved it into her hand.
“You certainly will,” Jan quickly assured, sending Crystal a text when she got her phone back so she would have her number as well.
——
Jan looked at her phone, at the six missed calls she had from her mother, and debated whether or not she should call her back before her plane boarded. It came down to the choice of whether she wanted to be crippled with anxiety before or after she landed. At least if she did it before, she could take a xanax and sleep through the flight. So, on the seventh call, she answered. “Hi, Mom.”
“Are you out of your fucking mind?” Alexis shrieked. “Missouri? You’re moving to Missouri? I couldn’t even find it on the fucking map! I tried to google it and the first result just said ‘why?’. You were just about to get the junior partner promotion, what is the matter with you?”
“Cities like Springfield need people like me, Mom,” Jan explained. “There’s never gonna be a shortage of talented lawyers in Manhattan, but I could do some real good out in the Midwest. I already have a job, an apartment, everything’s fine.”
Alexis muttered indistinguishably under her breath, trying to calm herself. “I just don’t understand why you would want to throw your life away for that shtetl. What does Springfield have to offer you?”
Jan sighed. “You wouldn’t understand, I don’t expect you to… But this is something I need to do.”
“Alright,” she relented. “Text me when you land.”
This wouldn’t be the last conversation they had about this, Jan knew that. But as she boarded the plane, she was relieved that the conversation didn’t go half as badly? as she thought it would. She would still need a xanax, but at least she would sleep soundly.
For most of the five hour flight, Jan got the sleep she so desperately needed, and it wasn’t long before she began the tedious process of moving into her new house. She had surprised herself by deciding to become a homeowner, but she couldn’t resist how much further a Manhattan dollar went in the Midwest.
Jan had just finished up with the movers when she began to feel like she was being watched. She turned and noticed a woman about her age – perhaps a few years younger – leaning against the railing of the front porch, looking at her with an intrigued expression. “Hi!” She chirped to, who she assumed, was her new neighbor.
She narrowed her gaze. “Are you a cop or are you in the witness protection program?”
“Neither? I just moved here from New York,” she explained.
“Why?”
She shrugged, looking around. It was a suburban neighborhood, similar to the one she had grown up in, but more middle class (and she was sure she was the only person with any Jewishness in their DNA in a twenty mile radius). The houses were both spacious and spaced out and everything was calm, if not a bit bland. “Change of scenery.”
Her neighbor wasn’t convinced, but dropped it for the time being. “Right… What’s your name, city girl? I’m Jaida.”
“Oh my God. I haven’t even introduced myself,” Jan jogged over to her and extended her hand. “I’m Jan Sport, so nice to meet you, neighbor.”
Jaida looked at her oddly, but shook her hand nonetheless. “So what do you do exactly?”
“I’m a lawyer. I got this great offer at this firm by a lovely Canadian woman, I simply had to take it,” she gave a clearly rehearsed answer. “What about you?”
“I’m a student,” Jaida answered flippantly. “I actually gotta finish some work. Good luck with your Canadian lawyer job.” She went back inside before Jan could offer a response.
Not that Jan was perturbed. She shrugged as she walked into her new home. “She seems cool.”
——
“Once again, we are so excited to have you at our firm. We thought we received your resumé by mistake, to be completely honest,” Brooke Lynn remarked as she took Jan on a tour of the office.
Jan had a bright grin on her lips as she looked around the office, admittedly only listening to every other word or so. “Uh huh, cool. Hey, is the cell service bad out here or something? It’s just that I texted my friend two days ago and I haven’t heard back from her yet, and I’m sure she’s been trying to reach me.”
Brooke furrowed her brows in confusion. “Hm… No, that’s not really an issue out here. Anyway, this is your office. It’s no Manhattan view, but I think you’ll settle in fine.” As they left the office, her attention suddenly shifted. “Oh, Brita! Brita!” She flagged down a woman by the copy machine. “This is Jan, the Harvard-Columbia grad I was telling you about.”
Brita stood upright, offering a tight-lipped smile. “Hi, so nice to meet you. I’m Brita,” she greeted and looked Jan over. “I love your Hermès bag, it looks real.”
“Oh,” Jan tilted her head, “it is real. I got it on sale, though.”
“Of course you did,” she muttered through gritted teeth. “What, exactly, are you doing all the way out here anyway?”
Jan had already become adept at handling this question. “I needed a change of scenery. Couldn’t be a city girl forever.”
Brita’s brows rose suspiciously and her arms crossed. “Ah, yes, the standard NYC-Springfield move. You have any family out here? Friends?”
Jan blinked rapidly and cleared her throat. “Nope, not a soul. Just needed to start somewhere fresh. NYC isn’t as perfect as it is in movies, you know.”
“I know,” she retorted sourly.
Brooke clapped her hands together. “Well, I’m glad you two are getting along. Jan, don’t hesitate to ask if you need anything.” And with that, she had dipped back into her office.
Brita watched Brooke’s office door shut before redirecting her attention to Jan. “Okay, she’s gone. So, why are you really here?”
Jan frowned. “I… just told you?”
She huffed and rolled her eyes. “Fine, I’ll figure it out myself. I love a good mystery.”
“Right… Anyway, I’m gonna go do work. You know. Because this is my job.” Jan slowly backed away, before turning on her heel and walking off at a normal pace.
Brita scoffed, turning to look at her coworker, who had been watching silently from the next cubicle. “Can you believe that bitch, Aiden? Oh, look at me, I moved for a ‘change of scenery’,” she mocked the cheerful lilt their new coworker spoke with.
Aiden rolled her eyes and shook her head.
“Exactly!” Brita nodded. “Ugh, I’m so glad you see it too. I’m gonna crack that nut.”
——
Overall, Jan had deemed her first day of work to be a success. But that was eclipsed by the fact that she still hadn’t heard from Crystal. To distract from her frustration, she stopped by a local bar on the way home, Pony Express.
Well, ‘bar’ didn’t seem to be an accurate title, despite everyone seeming to refer to it as such. Aside from alcohol, it also had a kid-friendly menu that catered to the children that frequented from the soccer leagues that played on the adjacent field and their families.
“Hi,” Jan greeted as she sat at the bar, though her eyes were fixed on her phone. “Could I get a vodka cranberry, please…” she looked up long enough to read the bartender’s name tag, “Gigi?”
“Sure,” Gigi answered, looking Jan over as she made the drink. “Are you new here? I’ve never seen you around before.”
She had yet to tear her eyes from the screen. “Yeah, just moved here from Manhattan. Got a great job offer. And I have a… friend that lives out here, but I’m still waiting to hear from her. She must be having phone problems or something.”
“No kidding,” the bartender hummed. “My best friend just moved back here from Manhattan, maybe you know her,” she joked.
Jan missed the joke in it. “Maybe I do, what’s her name?” She asked, finally managing to look at Gigi, acknowledging her beauty in the back of her mind, but much more interested in her answer.
Gigi chuckled at her reaction. “Crystal Methyd, she was there to do art for this historical play or something.”
Her eyes lit up. “Oh my gosh, that’s so crazy! That’s my friend! I, um, do you know where she is right now?”
“No… but I can tell you where she’ll be tonight. Our friend is having this party. You should come, maybe with me.”
Jan arched her brow, a slight smile on her lips. “With you? Like, you’ll pick me up in your car and everything?”
“Yeah… like a date. That’s generally what it consists of.”
There were a few beats of hesitation before Jan nodded. The more she thought about it, the more it seemed like the perfect excuse. “Alright, it’s a date.”
A smile tugged at the corners of Gigi’s mouth. “I’ll pick you up at seven.”
By the time she had returned home, Jan had warmed up to the idea. If there was anyone that could get her in Crystal’s direction, it would be a close friend. And she and Gigi were strangers, surely there would be no hard feelings. She just had to play it cool and casual.
Maybe spending the following two hours doing her hair, makeup, and picking out just the right outfit wasn’t ‘casual’ per sé, but it didn’t matter if she looked good enough to catch Crystal’s eye from across the room, like in every cheesy movie she’d seen (and loved).
“Hey,” Jan greeted as she made her way to Gigi. She took careful steps as she walked – her dress was tight and her heels were high, and it took a lot of effort to appear effortless.
But it did seem to work on Gigi, who was struggling with the subtlety in looking her over. “You look… fucking hot.”
Jan beamed brightly. “Thank you! Let’s go, we’re burning moonlight,” she said as she got in the car.
“Who says that?” She murmured to herself as she got in and drove them to the party.
The party was already well-populated by the time of their arrival, allowing them to seamlessly blend in. Despite the party being hosted by one of Gigi’s friends, Jan was the one smiling and waving at anyone she made eye contact with, while Gigi kept more to herself. They managed to get drinks and find a spot to stand and chat in, though Jan’s attention was divided.
“What are you looking for?” Gigi asked after the third or fourth time she noticed Jan not listening. “Crystal? Why are you so worried about finding her, you have a thing with her or something?”
Jan snapped back to attention, shaking her head hard enough for her ponytail to swish about. “No, no, no, it’s nothing like that. We were just such good friends and I haven’t seen her in ages, and it’ll be great to surprise her, that’s all.”
While not entirely convinced, Gigi decided to drop it at that, mostly because she’d received a text that distracted her. “Oh, speak of the devil, guess who just texted me,” she remarked as she looked at her screen. “Looks like she’s not gonna make it here, though. Her girlfriend looped her into a family thing.”
That one word made Jan’s heart sink into the pit of her stomach and she had to blink away the tears of frustration and sadness that threatened to make a sudden appearance. “I’m sorry, did you say ‘girlfriend’?”
The suspicions Gigi had started to grow from Jan’s crestfallen reaction, but she answered nonetheless. “Yeah, they’re high school sweethearts, kinda went on and off in college, I think. They took a break when Crystal moved to New York, but they’ve been back together for… I don’t know, a couple months? Not really on my list of primary concerns.”
“They’re high school sweethearts, that’s so sweet,” Jan said in a breathy gasp, as if she were forcing the words out of an unwilling mouth.
“Are you okay?” Gigi asked, putting her free hand on Jan’s upper arm to steady her. “You seem upset.”
Jan set her drink down on a nearby table and took a breath. “Me? Upset? No, I’m totally fine. I’m just… surprised. That’s all.”
“Really? Because if you have feelings for Crystal or something, it’s–”
Jan cut Gigi off by cupping her face and kissing her. Much to her relief, she felt the other girl relax into the contact. She dragged the kiss out for another moment or so before letting go and standing upright, trying to read her face to see if she had been convincing enough.
“Okay,” Gigi chuckled softly. “Not upset. Point taken.” She shoved her hands into the pockets of her leather jacket as she tried to figure out what was supposed to happen next. “Do you wanna… go find some snacks or something?”
“Actually,” Jan clapped her hands together, “why don’t we get out of here and go back to my place?”
At this point, Gigi had given up on questioning Jan’s answers. She found her odd and somewhat over the top, but it intrigued her, it kept her hooked. “Sure, tonight’s been weird enough, might as well see how this ends up.” She linked arms with her and they walked back out of the house.
The car ride consisted mainly of Jan relying on every flirtation method she knew – she played with Gigi’s hair, rested her hand on her thigh, anything to keep her from asking too many questions. And once they had arrived and promptly relocated to Jan’s bedroom, things escalated quickly. They were making out heavily, limbs interlocked and hands roaming each other’s body. But through the moans, Gigi noticed something that took her right out of the moment. “Are you crying?”
Jan sniffled and wiped her eyes as subtly as she could manage. “What? No, it… it’s just allergies, honestly,” she assured despite her lower lip trembling.
“Yeah, no, I’m out,” Gigi pushed herself off the bed. “You’ve got something going on, clearly. Maybe we’ll try this again another time. Or not. Who knows? Anyway, um, goodnight.” With that, she turned on her heel and left, despite Jan’s protests and insistence that she was fine.
“Fuck…” Jan groaned and flopped onto the bed once she was alone.
——
Jan had been hoping to distract herself from the last night when she got to work that morning. And at first, things seemed to be going well. But barely a couple hours into the day, she found herself cornered into the break room by Brita. “Oh god, now what?” she groaned.
“Don’t you take that tone with me, little girl. I’ve got you all figured out,” Brita smirked. “I know all about Crystal Methyd, how you’ve checked her instagram fifty-four times since you landed in Springfield. You’re obsessed with her and that’s why you moved here.”
Jan’s throat tightened and she wished the floor would open up and swallow her whole. “No, no, because that would be crazy and I am not crazy. Crystal and I dated for a few months when we were sixteen, I barely know her,” she insisted. “I moved here for work and Crystal just happened to be here!” she paused to try to collect herself. “I mean, yes, she’s the one that mentioned Springfield when I ran into her. And yes, when I ran into her, it made me feel happy, like glitter was exploding inside of me, and…” Her eyes widened and her face paled. “Oh my god, I’m crazy. I-I’m crazy and stupid and horrible and–”
Brita gripped Jan’s arms firmly and looked into her eyes. “Hey, do not talk about my new friend like that,” she snapped, then waited for the younger woman’s expression to soften. “Sweetie, you’re not crazy. I get it now. You’re just in love.”
“I’m your friend?” Jan asked, brows knitted. “I thought you hated me.”
Brita shook her head. “I hated that you lied to me, silly.”
“Oh, okay, cool,” she smiled, only for her face to drop almost instantly. “Also, I’m not in love, I just told you I–”
“Shh,” Brita put a finger to Jan’s lips. “You don’t have to defend yourself against destiny, you’re so brave for pursuing it. This is the start of a beautiful love story! And I’m gonna make it happen for you.”
Jan smiled warmly. “You are?”
Brita nodded brightly. “Of course, honey,” she noticed Jan’s eyes drift to her phone while she spoke. “What’s up?”
Color rushed back to Jan’s face as she pulled her phone out of her pocket, eager to make sure she read her screen correctly. “It’s Crystal. She wants to know if I wanna get lunch with her sometime.” The two coworkers – now friends – squealed in delight before scrambling to figure out how to word her reply perfectly.
It wasn’t until after she sent it that Jan’s face fell. “Wait… Crystal has a girlfriend. Her friend, who I met once and definitely did not almost hook up with, mentioned it.”
Brita shrugged. “Haven’t you ever seen a romantic comedy? They always have a girlfriend in the beginning. Don’t worry about that,” she assured. “Besides, I’m sure she’s not that great.”

Planning the perfect proposal was a dumb idea.
Or when you ruin his proposal.

Yoongi never felt the need to flash his relationship in other people's faces. He was quite content with it being his, he didn't need validation or a pat on the back from those who thought he was a quote on quote lucky guy. He just needed you, that being said at that moment you were approximately five thousand miles away from him - no more than a week ago you'd up and left to go visit your parents. And he'd be lying if he said that the video calls and text messages were enough for him. They weren't the same as having you right there with him, curled up in his arms with one of his loose fitted t-shirts hanging off your frame as he stared at you in adoration. It really wasn't the same…
Still, there was no way that he's was going call you and demand you come home - you deserved this alone time with your family. You hadn't seen them in person in nearly a year and there's no way Yoongi was going to take that away from you. He'd just have to wait, for now, he'd just suffer through a couple more yearning video calls and unsatisfying text messages.
Tumblr media
One or two days had gone by since Yoongi had last - properly - spoken to you. He had been trying not to count them, especially since the days had been moving agonizingly slowly. Obviously, Yoongi's physical ability to function without you was fine, he didn't need you to breath, or exist per se...But, he did need you for one particular reason.
His proposal.
For months he'd had it all planned, right down to the tiniest detail, everything was perfect. Well...Was being the keyword here - his plan had gone up in flames the moment you had informed him of your surprise visit home. And unlike his plan, yours was a complete impulse, you hadn't even really thought it through before you left. All he knew was that the day you had come home and bought your plane ticket, you had this flare and determination rooted in your gaze. You didn't explain where it had come from and he hadn't asked. He'd just pulled on a tight smile as he listened to you practically burst with warmth as you spoke about seeing your little brother, mum and dad again 'for the first time in forever'.
It was unfortunate really. Even at this time, he was twiddling the engagement ring between his fingers; thinking about how he would propose when you got back. And he's definitely sure he doesn't have enough money to reschedule the non-refundable proposal he originally had planned. So the question was what would he do now?
"Ah, I don't know," he sighed, clearly frustrated. He took one more quick look at the ring placed between his fingers before he set it back in its velvet box. "How do I even find a better way to ask (y/n) to be my 'matrimonial' nap buddy?" he mumbled lowly to himself. "Nothing's going to beat the night in the glass dome," he flops back defeatedly on his sofa, covering his face as he does.
Buzz!
A small pout takes over his face - in contrast to its previous grimace - before he sits back up to glance at his buzzing phone. Oh, it was you, he noted once he picked it up, what perfect timing.
Tumblr media
It didn't take more than two rings before you answered, the camera fumbled around in your grasp as - Yoongi could only assume - you were trying to get comfortable in a bean bag chair. "Yoonz, I've missed your face so much." You finally said once you were settled.
"Missed yours too, sweetheart, " he let out, huskily. Showing off one of his gummy smiles, only a little lazier than usual. "How's your visit?"
"It's good...," you hesitated. "Don't get me wrong I'm so happy to see my family and be back here, but…"
”But?"
"I don't know, I'm just not enjoying it as much without you." You confess, letting your teeth sink into your bottom lip. Oh, Yoongi really didn't expect that. "It's just I can't help but keep turning around to tell you something but, then I realise you're not here." You sigh, tucking some hair behind your ear. "I guess, I started to realize that I hate when I can't share things with you, I-I don't want life to be like that Yoongi." You paused. "I want to be able to share all my greatest moments with you, forever...so, Yoongi will-"
Wait- what was the going on here?! Were you proposing...?! Well, possibly you could be about to say something completely different but, the feeling Yoongi was getting in the pit if his stomach was telling him differently. His mind was reeling, more than one thing alerting it at a once. But, he's wasn't sure which one to focus on first; the deep swell in his chest or the fact that you might - potentially - be proposing to him!
"Will you-" Oh God you're stealing his proposal, why is he even surprised. "Marry me...?"
There's a long drawn out pause and Yoongi can see you, practically holding your breath as you wait patiently for him to answer. And he can also see your shoulders drop slightly when he doesn't immediately let out a giant 'yes!'. "Never mind, it's stupid-"
"No, it isn't," he stops you - and he knows if you were with him right now he would clasp your hand with so much loving intent you'd freaking melt. "Yes, I'll marry you, you idiot, I love you.' He beamed softly. " Oh, sweetheart no- don't cry," he tried to soothe you as your lip trembled and your eyes began to water.
Taking a few seconds you blinked excessively in an attempt to stop any tears."I-I'm sorry, I thought you were going to say no," you half-laughed through your teary state.
"I would never," he promised. "Even though you ruined my first proposal and stole my second one," Yoongi smirked, letting a wolfish grin play across his face. "Yep," he continued as your watery eyes started back at him in shock. "I had rented a glass dome for the night, with your favourite fake flowers, because I know you're allergic to the real ones, it was freaking beautiful!. Ah, I had so much planned." He shook his head in mock sorrow.
"Yoongi- I- fuck...I promise I'm going to make it up to you." You say, opening and closing your mouth a few more times. "I- gosh- I can't believe- wow-"
"Being my wife will be enough, " he cut you off. "plus I hadn't come up with a second proposal idea yet so you kind of...did me a favour, " Yoongi chuckled.
The words seemed so nonchalant coming from his mouth but, hearing him call you his wife that certainly hit you differently. "Oh God, I'm booking a flight home right now, I'll see you in 11 hours my husband to be!" You don't even wait for him to say goodbye before you're ending the call.
"See you in 11 hours, sweetheart," he whispers contentedly at the now blank screen of his phone.

Tumblr media
Hunter Hearst Helmsley, or professionally known by Triple-H sighed with embarrassment, reading tweet after tweet from his youngest son Seth Rollins.
"What happened to him?" His best friend and practically brother Shawn Michaels asked, looking over his shoulder.
"Cody took him out of the press conference, Seth's hungover, blaming everyone but himself"
Shawn shook his head, "Kid is letting the hype go to his brain. He's all over TMZ, The Bad Boy Prince of MMA is what they call him"
"Seth is the best fighter in the world in his division. He's earned the cockiness but his lifestyle…." Hunter shook his head
Shawn made a disgusted sound. "Kid reminds me of me before I got my act together"
"Fatherhood is what made you get your act together. That won't work for Seth" Hunter clicked on a video of his drunken son yelling into a camera about Finn Balor that had gone viral last week.
"He talks so much shit about Balor being a low rent MacGregor, hell Seth acts more like Conor then Finn does."
Hunter sighed "He's turned this into a complete mess, I wouldn't be surprised if his team drops him."
"Hey, Dusty loved that kid, Dustin and Cody wouldn't release him until he stopped making them money"
Hunter nodded but looked nonetheless unthrilled.
"He keeps making excuses about everything. I'm this close to calling Steph"
Shawn nodded with agreement as the two entered Seth's penthouse, greeting a tired looking Cody Rhodes. "I can't do this anymore Hunter" he said in place of a normal greeting.
"You are not dropping him" Hunter said matter of factly.
"AEF is supposed to be for fighters that respect the sport, he fucks around and doesn't even show up to the gym" Cody said.
Hunter ignored him and went upstairs to where he could hear his youngest groaning in misery.
Hunter sighed as Seth looked up from the toilet he was practically hugging. "I'm twenty five, perfectly legal" he muttered, Hunter's gaze looking at the black and gold championship that laid discarded.
"While ago you would have treated that with respect" He said, Seth rolling his eyes. "Would you rather me puke on it? It's just a fucking belt' "
"Don't let anyone hear you say that" Hunter said lowly. "You're going to the weigh in today even if I have to drag you by your hair there myself"
"No the fuck I'm not, don't you see me dyin' here?" Seth whined "I'm going to fucking sleep"
"What the fuck happened to you?!" Hunter yells "Every since your Uncle Shane became your manager this is what you've turned into."
Seth looked unfazed. "Don't get angry because I'm better than you ever were" and shoved his father out of his way, flipping off Cody, and ignoring Shawn.
"What am I going to do with him?" Hunter sighed, exhausted.
"Knock his ass out?" Shawn suggested. "I'll take care of him" Cody rolled his eyes. "Britt and I will make sure he gets to the weigh in. I just need painkillers and food"
"I'm gonna go talk to Shane, I want to know what kind of garbage he's been filling my kid's head with" Hunter mutters
"I told you listening to Vince was a mistake." Shawn replies shaking his head "All of you let Vince snow you into thinking it was embarrassing that his mother managed him"
Hunter sighed. "I don't know what to do. I don't want to drag Steph back, Shane has a tight grip on him"
"Worry about that fuckface later" Shawn said. "Seth needs you, not him" Hunter nodded firmly, making his way downstairs to see Seth passed out on his couch, his dog Kevin and cat Daryl laying on him.
"This was our compromise" Cody explained. "I let him take a nap, he goes to the weigh in later"
"He isn't going to beat Balor in this condition. He doesn't spar anymore and his knee has been inflamed for weeks" Britt says quietly
"He shouldn't even be fighting. We told Shane but he says there's too much money at stake for Seth to pull out"
"Money money money"' Shawn mocked. "All he cares about is fucking printed paper"
Hunter ignored them and instead chose to brush back some of Seth's hair, his son unconsiously responding to it. "What did I do wrong raising him?" he asked. Hunter rolls his eyes at the look his older brother gave him "The truth" he says quietly
"No offense bro, but this family is a whole fucking lot to live up to and you weren't exactly shy about your expectations once Seth showed an aptitude for the sport. None of us were. I have to even ask myself, when was the last time any of us actually had a conversation with the kid that wasn't about fighting?"
"He's cracking underneath the pressure" Cody chimes in
"Yeah, he is and now Shane is filling his head with all these ideas about the image he should project" Shawn continues "Quiet guys who, play with their dogs and write poetry when their not in the Octagon don't sell tickets, but Bad Boys sure the fuck do."
*Later*
Seth scowled at his phone as Britt ushered him into the arena the weigh was taking place in. "I'm assuming you told the press he was gonna bail?" Cody growled at Shane who held his hands up. "They were gonna find out sooner or later" "Yeah yeah, no press is bad press" Seth said.
"Except the press says you're an asshole" Cody deadpanned. "Don't do anything stupid up there, or Mark is going to have a stroke" Seth didn't respond, instead heading up the stairs to the stage, where Balor had clearly made weight, despite being skinny. Seth took off his shirt per usual, standing on the scale.
"197 pounds" The announcer said, Seth smirking at Balor. The Irish man looked unfazed and rolled his eyes. Seth, in a act of annoyance, promptly flipped him off, hearing everyone in the crowd either laugh or groan
-Backstage -
"Gonna be fun beating your ass Balor, I promise not to hurt you too badly," Seth says cockily, slouching in a chair and putting his sunglasses back on.
"Oh, Rolly its almost time to give up your precious" Finn responds, "Clock is ticking boyo and your time is almost up"
"Mon roi, nous devons-oh shit" a pake woman walked up, speaking rapid French and stopping in her place when she saw Seth.
"Hey Seth" she said coldly.
"Vi" Seth responded, his attitude gone.
"He your king now?" "Surprised you even remember any French, from what I read, you've drank yourself through everything"
"It's what happens when you give your heart to someone and get it ripped in half, I wasn't enough for you, that's what you said right? I wasn't straight enough for you?! So you threw my ring in my face and left" Seth yelled "Cause Bisexual people, we're all cheaters didn't you know?"
At least according to Violet Gillath, wait I'm sorry Violet Balor now isn't it?."
"Stop it" Finn growled. "Before I knock your ass out now"
"Try it bitch" Seth snarled back.
Violet got between them and shoved Seth back. "Chaton, stop" she hissed.
Seth stumbled upon hearing his old nickname. "Why?" he choked out. "What did I do?"
Seth shook his head as if to shake his thoughts into place "Why Violet? Why did you leave me? You...you fucking broke me" he said in a small voice "I have the right to know why, just tell me. Why would you do that after everything. I was going to quit fighting for you because you didn't like seeing what it was turning me into. You get up on stage and you still sing my songs, but you said you hated me. I just wanna know."
Violet crossed her arms and closed her eyes. "I didn't want to be with you. You never signed anything so legally those songs are mine. I said what I meant, you weren't enough"
Seth looked like she had rebroken his heart.
Thankfully Britt walked in. "Hey, we gotta go"
Seth grabbed his title and held it to Finn. "This is mine. You can keep that bitch but you will never get this"
-Backstage-
"I've never known you to be biphobic, wanna explain to me why Rollins is convinced you are?" Finn said sitting down in his locker room with his wife a few minutes later.
"His uncle...manager, that bastard Shane got me my record deal in exchange for breaking Seth's heart" Violet told her husband "Seth hates fighting, he was going to quit and go on the road with me. He can't sing a note but he writes and plays guitar. We were going to be a duo. Shane was watching his cash cow walk out the door. So he threatened me and made an offer. Seth was the sweetest thing and he loved me and I broke his heart and let Shane turn him into that"
"If I could go back in time and slap him across the face I would but I can't" Violet said brokenly. "Shane has made it perfectly clear that if I ever tell him that he would ruin both our careers"
Finn hugged her to him. "I'm still gonna kick his ass" Violet slapped his arm. "Please try not to" Finn shrugged. "I'm undefeated"
"You know Seth is too. And the thing with being undefeated is that there's only one way down, being kicked off the mountain"
-Next Day-
Seth was throwing up again having had drank himself to sleep following his encounter with his ex.
Cody looked extremely tired and Britt concerned. "You have to fight in an hour!" Cody yelled out
"I don't fucking care." Seth yelled back "I don't even want to fucking fight." He muttered to himself, as he rubbed at his knee. "Come on fucking give already." He whispered to the inflamed appendage.
He knew what he was doing was dangerous but it was his only way out. If his knee would just give up the fucking ghost, he could quit this bullshit once and for all.
"Your sisters are out there tonight" Britt said, walking in, holding a brace.
"I really don't care" Seth growled, letting Britt put his knee in it.
"And your mom' Britt added. Seth took a breath when Britt touched his knee.
"Holy shit, it feels like its burning"
We're letting you go after tonight" Cody said angrily. "I don't care if you win or not, you've ruined All Elite Fighting's reputation"
"I don't care, I never wanted to be in your shitty gym anyway" Seth shrugged. "I'm going to get changed"

Writing Prompt: Marlene has to explain to her child what happen to Evan, and why 'Dad' isn't around.
[Preceded by THIS ONE]
Shewas a truly extraordinary child, and it had shown early on. Most babies, forwhat Marlene knew, started walking at 9 months. At 7 and a half her daughter had her walkingaround the house, with the little girl’s feet on top of hers, for hours andhours. She’d started babbling at three months, and by the time she turned ayear, she’d practically mastered basic words and could call nearly every memberof her closest circle by their name (or her version of it). Magic was never even an issue. She was making her blankets float before she’d even learned how to seat up.
But it took her over a year beforeshe said “dad” for the first time. After all, she’d never really had a reasonto.
Words were a strange thing. They couldhave such power, looming over people’s life like a mantra, or a taboo. Eventhough her daughter hardly ever used the word, “dad” was written all over her,and the little girl probably did not even realize it. It was in the color ofher large doe eyes: emerald green so deep, Marlene’s viridian ones could havenever achieved such color. It was in the way her eyes glistened withintelligence and wit. Of course, that was as much Evan’s as her doing. Ariannehad taken the best of both brains, for sure. An abstract Ravenclaw mind and ananalytical Slytherin one merged completely inside the head of a little prodigythat by the age of five could already write her complete name and read thoseone-sentence-per-page children’s books. She watched everything like she couldnot get enough of the world in one stare, and analyzed every last detail withprecision. But most of all, the word was carved into the little girl’s cheeks whenevershe smiled, her smirk framed by two perfect little dimples. Unlike her father, however, Arianne smiled often.
The question caught Marlene by surprise. It happened late one night, while she was cuddled with Arianne in her bed, reading to her. Her daughter was curled against her side, under Marlene’s arm,as the woman read The Fellowship of the Ring to her. She had made sure toinitiate her daughter in the world of Tolkien early in her life, like Marly’sgrandfather had done with her. When she finished the chapter, Marlene markedthe page and left the book on the bedside table, uncurling her arm from aroundher daughter and moving to kiss her head. She paused, however, when she noticedhow the child was looking at her with wide, very much awake green eyes, withthe expression of someone who clearly had something important in their head, but did not know exactly how to start.
“What is it, sweets?” Marlene kneeledbeside the bed, running a hand worriedly over her daughter’s soft goldenhair.
“What happened to my dad?” the littlegirl dropped the question like a bomb, no hint, no warning, nothing. Just thesingle inquiry left suspended in the air between them. Marlene’s hand hadfrozen in Arianne’s hair, and her expression had gone completely blank.
No, she definitely had not beenprepared. She never would be. Arianne had always been precocious when it cameto intellectual things. But she’d never asked about her father, so Marlene hadgrown confident that it would never happen. She ought to have known better. Forsome reason, her daughter had taken her time with this one, but she had never, ever left a doubt unresolved inside her head. Marlene had told her about Evanonce or twice, punctual things that children asked about, like what did he do, or what was his favorite color or his favorite book or food (favorites alwaysseemed to be so important to little children, for some reason) and of course, what did he look like? But never what happened. All she’d said at the time wasthat he was not with them and never would be. Obviously, that was no longerenough to satisfy the girl’s curiosity.
“What happened?” Marlene repeated, trying to buy some time as she struggled to pull herself together in order toexplain that people sometimes just went where one could not follow, where theycould not return.
She could still remember that night.Traumatic experiences always seemed to happen at night. Aurors banged on herdoorstep, awakening her baby, and Marlene opened to a world of confusion.Interrogations followed in the midst of a chaotic whirlwind in which she had noidea who was watching her daughter, she was being accused of sympathizing withDeath Eaters, and it took them nearly three hours before it finally occurredthem to actually tell her that the reason of all of this was because EvanRosier was dead after a confrontation with the MLE forces and everyone knew hehad been a Death Eater and “Where you aware that you were sleeping with amurderer, Ms. McKinnon!? Answer now!” And all the while she was shocked, andterrified and desperate to get her daughter back and try to wrap her mindaround the concept that he was dead, and a criminal, and for some toxic,fucked-up reason she still loved him and wished with such an intensity that itmanaged to scare her that everything had all been just a bad dream.
Without noticing, her hands had startedshaking on the edge of a panic attack. Arianne reached out to rest her chubbytoddler fingers over her own, making Marlene slowly come back to the present. The blonde woman had to take a series of deep breaths. She couldn’t lose it infront of Arianne. She had promised herself that no child of hers would everhave to witness what she had seen with her own mother. After a couple ofminutes she finally managed to calm down, and forcing down the knot in herthroat, she wrapped her hands around Arianne’s and kissed the tiny knucklesrepeatedly before talking.
“You know how there was a war in MiddleEarth, between Sauron and the elves and men?” her voice was hushed and soft, vulnerable like she rarely ever allowed it to be. It was easier to compare whathad happened with fiction, both for Marlene to explain and for Arianne tounderstand. The little girl nodded, green eyes filled with solemnconcentration.
“Well” Mars went on “When you wereborn, there was a war here in Britain. There was a Dark Lord too, and he hadhis followers. They even wore dark cloaks, like the Nazgul. And just like inMiddle Earth, there were also people fighting against them. Good wizards andwitches” she paused to take another deep breath. She could feel the tearsitching to come out, but she forced them back. Now was not the time to think ofall the beloved friends she had lost. “Back then, I was fighting in thewar and…And so was your father”.
She had no idea how to carry on thetale. To be honest, no build up seemed proper to the end, the end was still thesame bitter finale from five years ago.
“He died, didn’t he?” Arianne’s voicewas barely a hushed whisper, sad, but in the way little children were alwayssad over things like death, without having really experienced the loss inperson. She had been but a baby when it happened, barely months old. Marlenehad barely slept a wink that night, but Arianne had practically dreamed all theway through it, under her grandmother’s care while the Aurors tried to getsomething useful from Mar. She never said anything. Not that she had anythingto say, really. Evan had been the only Death Eater she’d known about and he wasalready dead.
Tears had finally started falling downthe young mother’s cheeks without her realizing it at first. She took a deepbreath and looked down, as if ashamed of her crying, but eventually nodded, confirming her daughter’s words. She whipped away the salty drops with the backof her hand and tried to say something, but her mind was blank and overwhelmedwith raw emotion. Even after five years…had it really been that long already?
Arianne had started crying quietly too, though it was hard to guess exactly who she was crying for. Probably the girlherself did not know. But she threw her arms around Marlene’s neck and sobbedagainst her chest, not scandalously, but shaking with small tremors, like aleaf to the mercy of the wind. Marlene wrapped her arms around her daughter, scooping her up and laying back on the bed with her on top. She buried her facein the soft blonde locks of her hair, running a hand through them, crying andhumming to comfort her at the same time. It suddenly struck her that she’dalready been in a similar position almost five years ago. When the Aurorsfinally let her go, Marlene had picked up Arianne from her mother’s and headedstraight back to her apartment without a word to anyone, because she knew thatthey would not understand how she could be so emotionally destroyed with thedeath of a murderer, even if that murderer had been the father of her child.Marlene did not expect them to understand because she was aware that she wasnot being sensible herself. She understood that they were right and she waswrong to feel that way but there was nothing to be done about it. So she’d goneback to the comfort of her apartment, gathered as many blankets as she couldfind and curled on her couch, cuddling her sleeping child against her andcrying in broken silence until the sky turned grey, and then pink, and thedaylight came as if nothing had happened and she had no right to mourn. And allthe while, Arianne slept, unaware, in peace. It was the only thing Marlenecould rescue about that nightmare…that Arianne was too little be aware thatit had occurred. Until now, of course.
It seemed hours before either of themsaid anything. Marlene was sure her daughter had fallen asleep, until the girlbreathed deeply and sat up, brushing the strands of sunlight hair that hadstuck to her face after crying.
“Was it the bad guys who killed him?”she asked in her voice so filled with innocence. Marlene’s heart turned andshe almost burst out crying, this time scandalously, but for the sake of herdaughter managed to hold back the outburst. A child’s mind could be so pure.Pureness had been ripped away from Marlene herself after the war. She had seenthe worst in human nature, every patch of black in a person’s soul, everyhorror, and she had lost so many loved ones to it. And here was her daughter, asking if the bad guys had killed her father, never even considering to imaginethe possibility that hehad been one of the bad guys.
Marlene brushed her thumb fondly overher daughter’s cheek and rested her temple against that soft little forehead, lookingat her wide, curious eyes. Evan’s eyes in Marlene’s face.
“Yes, you could say it was the Dark Lordthat killed him” she provided and answer in the end, accompanied by a sigh.
Arianne was not entirely convinced, which under any other circumstances would have probably made Marlene laugh. Thekid was too brilliant for her own good.
“But that is not it, is it?” the fiveyear old narrowed her eyes accusingly.
“No, it is not” Marlene admitted, boppingher nose against her daughter’s “But for now, it will be”.
The girl pouted in protest “I amnot stupid, mama. I can understand things!” she scoffed, crossing her arms andlooking quite offended. That finally managed to get a small laugh out ofMarlene’s lips.
“Oh, I know you are not stupid, sweets. You are the smartest girl I’ve ever met. But just because you can understandsome things, does not mean that you should” Marlene sighed, rubbing her indexover the wrinkle between her daughter’s brows until the frown melted away. Thenshe added in a soft, loving voice “Don’t be in such a hurry to grow up,there is no need to get ahead of your years. One day, you will be ready to hearthe whole story. And I will be ready to tell it to you”.
“Pl…pwo…promise?” Ariane frowned a bit. The “r” was the only letter she still had trouble pronouncing.
If it were up to her, she would notpromise it. She would never speak of it again. How they had so stupidly, tragically ended up tangled together while they fought on opposite sides of awar. They had mocked the Greeks only to become actors of some twistedShakespearian material, and what was even more foolish of them, they had beencompletely aware of it the entire time. And yet, Marlene knew herself well, andshe knew she would not have done things differently. Especially considering thelittle girl she was holding, and whom she loved more than anything in thisuniverse or any other.
She owed the full truth to her daughter, she knew she did. In its due time.
“Of course I promise, melamin. I pinkyswear it” Marlene looped her little finger around her daughter’s and winkedthrough the last remains of her tears. And dimples danced onArianne’s cheeks.

Ever. In any way Bea: Look Bea: Sorry, alright? Bea: I didn't mean that Bea: Not intentionally but you can't say that like its fact Fraze: Why can't I? It's a fact for me, living by it Fraze: I'm a lot of things, yeah, but I'm not that to you. I won't be Fraze: Like I said, I'd do anything for you. Tell me what you want me to do Bea: Because you can't control me or what hurts me Bea: Stop caring Bea: Can't you see where it ends? Fraze: Stop twisting it Fraze: I'm not trying to control anything except this now, you pushing me away, 'cause it's fucked Fraze: Look, I know where we end Fraze: Marry me. I mean it Fraze: All this bullshit can just stop Bea: Why would you say that? Bea: Now, REALLY Fraze: 'cause I love you Fraze: It'll happen one day why not now Bea: No, it won't Bea: I don't want to get married Bea: I'm trying to make something of my life not end it prematurely Fraze: I'm not stopping you Fraze: A ring wouldn't either Fraze: What the fuck happened to doing it together? Bea: What happened is we obviously can't Bea: We want different things, we're in different places Bea: It is what it is, Fraze Fraze: Bullshit Fraze: You're scared Bea: Of what? Fraze: Fuck knows. You tell me Fraze: He did a number on you and you think I'm gonna Fraze: You're safe with me. I let you know that when we met. Nothing's changed Bea: You were just a kid then Bea: you didn't know what you were promising and you certainly don't need to stick to it now Bea: some fucked sense of duty Bea: I just told you I didn't want to be a sad pity case Fraze: Maybe not then but I do now and I'm still saying Fraze: It's love, that's what it's been since I was 7 Fraze: And I told you, you fucking aren't Bea: Fraze Bea: The answer is still no Fraze: You don't have to marry me, just don't fucking leave, yeah? Bea: How can I? We aren't together now already Fraze: You know what I mean Fraze: Fuck's sake Bea: Anyway Bea: just had to tell someone Fraze: Bea Fraze: Come on Bea: I can't Bea: I can't do or say what you want me to Bea: I'm sorry Bea: I really am Fraze: Fuck sorry Fraze: I want you. End of. I'm not asking for any more than that Fraze: What's hard about that all of sudden? Bea: Are you kidding me? You're living what's hard about it right now too, yeah? Bea: Either that or you're full of shit Bea: I can't keep missing you all the damn time Bea: it hurts too much Fraze: We knew it was coming Fraze: You're telling me you'd rather call it quits forever than miss me for a couple more years? Fraze: How'd that hurt less? Fraze: You're full of shit Bea: Fine, make ME say it Bea: because we'll get over each other Bea: we'd have to Fraze: If there's someone else just say it Bea: There isn't Bea: Don't try and make it into something it isn't Fraze: It's that London lad Fraze: I'll fucking kill him Bea: Bronson? Bea: That is ludicrous for so many reasons, which you'd be aware of if you took any time to listen to me, or try to get to know him Fraze: Don't turn this around on me, babe Fraze: He's the one pretending 'cause he's out for what he can get, with you Fraze: just friends, yeah? Fuck off Bea: That's not a thing that happens in real life, babe Bea: who knew you liked chick-flicks so much Bea: you think I wouldn't notice if I was slowly being wooed by my 'asexual' friend? Bea: the word alone makes him uncomfortable never mind this story you're concocting Fraze: Bullshit Fraze: And the point is, you have noticed and you're loving it Fraze: Gone off me 'cause you want him, but it's a big fucking joke, yeah? Bea: Oh, fuck off Bea: Even if he was into me, WHICH HE'S NOT, doesn't mean I HAVE to reciprocate it, WHICH I DON'T Bea: What do you even want me to say on this? Like, its not real, you're making it up Fraze: Go fuck yourself Fraze: Or him 'cause you clearly wanna Fraze: Trying to make me step aside like it's my idea Bea: Shame I can't, ey? Bea: 'Cause by this stupid fucking agreement I'm well within my right to anyway so Bea: why are you getting so angry? Fraze: You know why Fraze: I don't have feelings for any other girls Fraze: I'm not spending all my time with them like they're my girlfriend Bea: So I'm not allowed friends now? Bea: You have friends, I don't accuse you of fucking them or being in love with them Bea: My God! Fraze: Why am I the cunt for not wanting you to fucking replace me? Fraze: Christ sake Bea: Because I'm not! Bea: And if you can't take me at my word on that then tell me Bea: how do I prove that to you? Fraze: Stop pushing me away Fraze: And take me at my own fucking word Bea: I'm not pushing you away because there's someone else Bea: and you know it Fraze: What the fuck do I know? Fraze: You're messing with my head Fraze: Being fucking stupid Bea: I'm not trying to Bea: that's what I'm telling you Bea: leave Bea: don't get pulled in by my mess Fraze: Bea Fraze: Stop this shit Fraze: Enough now, yeah? Fraze: I'm not begging Bea: I can't Bea: Alright Bea: It ain't that simple Fraze: What's complicated Fraze: Don't act crazy Bea: That's right Bea: I'm crazy Fraze: Fucking hell Fraze: I'll call you when you've caught yourself on Fraze: Not getting nowhere Bea: Don't Bea: I don't want to talk to you Fraze: Don't answer Fraze: I can't make you Bea: Yeah 'cos I need you blowing up my phone Bea: Just leave me alone Fraze: I don't need you turning this on me Fraze: I'm trying Fraze: it's you doing this now Bea: Hey at least I didn't propose Fraze: Fuck you Bea: Fuck you right back

The fourth one has a stunning view of the city. It also has a little shack that years and years ago used to house a species of birds called pigeons. This was my daddy's spot. This is where I am hidden crying for all I am worth when Amar finds me. "Little Bit, you understand nobody, especially not your mother, wants to leave you. We have no choice. In order to survive you and Eric are our last hope." "I know you can do it, but ONLY if you do it together. This is the only way we can survive and hope to be able to one day return to the city. Have I ever lied to you before? " I shook my head no too upset to speak. "So why would I start now? Do you trust me baby? Trust Eric?" I nod yes again. "Good. Are you ready to come back? We have alot of work to do and very little time to do it." I cried harder first. My uncle put his arms around me and we just sat until I finally calmed myself down. Twenty minutes later I re-enter my mother's home. Eric stands and wraps his arms around me. He sits down pulling me into his lap once again. "Sweetheart I am sorry. None of us meant to take your choices away from you." he takes a deep breath before he continues. "Aleisia I meant it when I said I love you. You mean more than anything to me. I would gladly sacrifice my own life if it would save yours." "You are my family now. So that means so is the rest of your family. They are in danger as Audrianna. I intend to fight for them, keep them safe. I want to take back our city so they and other's like them don't have to live in fear for their life." "There's just one problem. I can't do it alone. I only trust you to do this with me. I won't force you to stay and fight. But I will ask you this. Do you trust me? Will spend the rest of your life letting me make you happy and stand by my side no matter what until one of us can't stand anymore?" a few tears roll down his cheek and his eyes are closed. I put a hand on either side of his face and rest my forehead on his. I press a soft kiss to his lips. "Yes. I love you too." my mother moved her chair next to us and took a hand from each of us to hold in her own. "I love you so much baby girl. So much. I don't want to leave you. I know you have already lost so much. That's why I had to make sure that Eric thought you are as special as I do and would love and protect you like I would before I left you with him." "After today it will break my heart a little bit less knowing you have each other." What will I do without my mother? Why do I loose everyone I love? "Alright Eric first and foremost you will need to train Aleisia to literally be the female version of yourself. How to fight, how to carry herself in a confident cynical manor. Share all of your intelligence and help her succeed. This is a critical part of this plan. Can and will you do that." Spoken like the trainer he is. "Of course I can and I will. It will be an honor and privilege." He kisses me with a need to make me understand. "Baby girl. It will be your job to never let either of you loose your humanity behind closed doors and in the presences of each other. To be great leaders you will need to be stern and firm and to protect the people you will have to carry on the farce of stone cold killer. People will have to believe you are capable of evil. Don't loose yourself. Can you do that? " I can tell it hurts my mother to ask this of us. "In order to protect my daughter and her assets and make sure there is iron clad security for her membership in Dauntless I am going to ask if you would be willing to marry my daughter." Both of us looked at my mother to judge if she was serious. She indeed was. I couldn't seem to find my voice, but Eric found his. "I am. But only if she willing excepts my proposal. Only if she wants to be my wife." his eyes tell me he meant every word. "We need a definite answer from both of you by Tuesday." My family looked to eager and pleased at the idea of Eric and I married. "We need you both to become the absolute best, efficient divergent hunters Jeanine ever asked for and be fucking academy award winning actors at the same time. This is how you will save innocent lives. Can you both do this?" "You with me no matter what Aleisia? " for the first time I saw Eric's fear of rejection plain as day. "I promise to be anything and everything you need me to be." The list off demands went on. The how"s, when's and why where laid out on the table. This was really, truly happening. An offer was also laid on the table for Eric in regard to Audrianna. They offered to take her with them to ensure her safety. He wanted to discuss it with her first. I was happy that was his answer. By midnight I could see Eric was dead on his feet. He still had to complete stage three in about five to seven hours. I decided it was time to put my foot down. I also wanted to do it with style and flair. "Alright it's time to call it a day. My fiancé has a long day ahead of him tomorrow." Three pairs of eyes turned to look at me. My mother smiled at me. My uncle winked. But the only pair that mattered to me took on an aura I had never seen in them before. "Do you truly mean that. You can't joke about this or take this matter lightly Aleisia." "Ask me," I schooled my feature to give nothing away in true Eric Coulter style. It took all I had not to smile as I seen him nervous for the first time. He licked his lips and slowly and precisely as only a former Erudite could be got down on one knee in front of me. His palms were sweaty as he took my hand and placed it in his like it was fine china and might break. He looked into my eyes with uncertainty. This was a complete contradiction of everything that made him who he is. "Aleisia would you do me the honor of letting me spend the rest of my life reminding you that it was and always will be only you." he looked like he might just pass out. " I would love nothing more than to be Mrs. Eric Coulter," I put my free hand on his cheek and kissed his temple as he kissed my left ring finger. He stood and picked me up and carried me to the bathroom so I could get ready for bed He was already half asleep when I curled up next to him. He pulled me up on his chest and wrapped me up in arms "You alright sweetheart? I know this is all alot to take in." he started drawing circles on my shoulders with his finger tips. The moment I decided I would except this mission with him was also the moment I promised myself I would never lie too him. We would or could not ever succeed if we weren't honest with each. We were going to have to become like one perfectly in sync. Our lives and the lives of others depended on it. "Not even close to alright. But I think eventually hopefully I will be." he held on a little tighter. " I have faith we can do this Aleisia. It is going to be the hardest thing we will probably ever do in our lives. We will most likely be utterly miserable for the next two years of our lives, but I know with you and for you it will all be worth it. But sweetheart are you sure you want to do this?" he made sure he could see my eyes clearly. " I would NEVER force you to do something you don't want to. I"ve spent my whole life being forced to do what other people desired. You are the first choice I ever made that was mine and for myself. That's all I want for you. " I kissed his chest and laced his fingers with mine. He was right this would be the hardest thing we would ever do. But right doing what's right was never easy. " I'll be fine as long as whatever we do in life we do it together. Now go sleep. You need to be your normal, malicious, asshole self for tomorrow."

Conversation
Texting & FaceTime || Beckles (Oct 12)
Jensen: I don't know why I thought this run was a good idea
Ashley: Because it's for charity and despite everything you have a big heart and want to give back.
Jensen: My legs stopped working
Ashley: Go sit in the hot tub
Jensen: I'm not home
Ashley: Then I don't know what to tell you
Jensen: I wasn't asking you to tell me anything, was making conversation
Ashley: Oh
Jensen: I can leave you alone though, don't mean to bother you
Ashley: It's okay, I'm not really doing anything anyway
Jensen: Is Brady still up?
Ashley: Yeah, he's sitting here playing
---
Jay: Instead of replying to the text Jensen started a FaceTime call.
Ash: Ashley jumped when her phone started ringing in her hand. She answered the call, flipping the camera so it showed Tristan instead of her. "Tristan, come talk to daddy."
Jay: Jensen expected to see Ashley so he was a little disappointed he was passed right off to their son. "Heeeey little man! Hope you're bein a good boy for mommy."
Ash: Tristan's eyes lit up when he heard Jensen's voice, "Daddy!" he said excitedly as he dropped his toys and stood up walking over to Ashley. Ashley turned the camera around so Tristan could see Jensen and Jensen could see him. She stayed out of the frame as best she could. "Daddy home now?" Tristan asked, trying to give the phone kisses.
Jay: Jensen laughed wholeheartedly at his son trying to kiss the phone, "No buddy, I'm not home yet. Soon though. Real soon."
Ash: Tristan leaned back into Ashley as he tried to get to his dad through the phone, "Daddy home." He said again, smacking the phone. "Tristan Brady, we don't smack mom's phone." Ashley said in a quiet yet firm voice.
Jay: "I hear that beautiful voice, where's the beautiful face that goes with it."
Ash: "Don't do that Jensen," she said sadly, "You called to see Tristan, not me."
Jay: "I called to see both of ya."
Ash: "I don't know if I want to see you right now though." she admitted.
Jay: Jensen sighed, "Kay."
Ash: "What do you want from me?" She asked him, trying to keep her voice normal.
Jay: "I don't know. I don't even know what I want from myself." He said honestly.
Ash: "Well when you figure it out, let me know."
Jay: "Can I see your face?"
Ash: Ashley sighed and moved herself so her face was in the camera frame. Her hair was messy and she had no makeup on. "Happy?"
Jay: He smiled, "Yeah, I am. Missed that face."
Ash: "Please don't do that."
Jay: "It's hard not to."
Ash: "Well try," she told him. "You constantly saying you miss me and you love me, makes this even harder. It isn't fair."
Jay: "I see us workin everything out. I told you it's just space. I'm not leavin ya."
Ash: "You're not the only deciding factor here Jensen. You don't get to make a unilateral choice here."
Jay: "You sayin you wanna walk away?"
Ash: "No, that's not what I'm saying. But this is something we both have to decide. Things have got to change before I'll even think about coming back."
Jay: "Like?"
Ash: "I don't know right now, Jensen." she said with a soft sigh.
Jay: "I still think we need counseling."
Ash: "And how do you expect to do that? You're never home as it is. That's part of the problem. When you're not on set you're at the brewery or away at a con. I'm by myself ninety percent of the time and I hate it. I have no friends in Vancouver or Texas."
Jay: "My schedule isn't somethin that can change though so if it's always gonna be a problem I don't see us bein able to fix things."
Ash: "Then why suggest counseling?"
Jay: "I didn't know my schedule was a problem til right now."
Ash: "Jensen, I've told you before that I've felt alone because you're never around. You're solution was for me to spend more time at the brewery with you. That's not a solution."
Jay: "Yeah it was. You wanted to be around me more and I was givin you a way to do that. I was tryin to share somethin with you that's important to me and it hurt that you wanted no part of it."
Ash: "Being around the brewery means being around Danneel. I knew she would be in our lives because of JJ but I never expected you to go into business with her. How do you think THAT made me feel? First you cheat on me with her and then you go into business with her? That's shit and you know it. That would be like me going into business with Tyler. The only difference is I never cheated on you with him first."
Jay: "The brewery has been in the works since Danneel and I were married. It's not just me and her, her brother's involved too. This has been a dream of mine forever. I didn't think it'd be a big deal to follow my dream. She doesn't have to be there when you're there though."
Ash: "Yeah but you could have talked to me about it first. Instead I didn't have any say in it. You want me to be involved yet I was never asked my opinion on anything or even asked to go to the brewery until I said I wanted to spend more time with you."
Jay: He took a deep breath, "When you and I started dating the brewery was already being worked on, how were you gonna have an opinion on something that was started before you were in the picture? The more serious we got the more I expected you to include yourself and you never did and that's my issue. You took my name, you took on the responsibility of raisin my kids with me, you say you wanna life with me but you don't wanna include yourself in MY business when it because OUR business the minute we got married."
Ash: "You could have involved me in the decorating and the little things but you didn't. You never asked me to be involved in anything." She felt herself starting to get upset and took a deep breath. "It doesn't feel like OUR business, Jensen. It's yours and Danneel's. I'm no where in the mix."
Jay: Because you didn't put yourself in the mix. I shouldn't have had to ask you, you should have taken the initiative."
Ash: "It wasn't my place to shove myself in the middle of things. That's not who I am."
Jay: "And that's my biggest problem with you. I want you to shove yourself in my shit. I don't wanna have to beg you to be involved."
Ash: "If I do that then you'll be mad and say I'm trying to take everything over. I won't do that Jensen and you know that."
Jay: "No, I fucking wouldn't! I would be fucking thrilled! You don't know me very well it seems."
Ash: "And clearly you don't know me."
Jay: "You asked for more time with me I tried to give you a solution and it wasn't good enough for you. I tell you what I need and you won't even consider it because it's not what you do. How is that fuckin fair?"
Ash: "Asking me to be more involved with you and your ex isn't my idea of spending more time with you. You're asking me to go from being home alone with Tristan all day to being along in some back office at the brewery all day."
Jay: "I was askin you to be around more to help out so I can fucking be home more. Two people can get the shit done faster. Most of the time I'm there by myself or with Gino. Danneel is there when I'm in Vancouver. If she shows up when I'm there it's so I can see the kids for a half hour."
Ash: "I don't know how to do what you want me to do! I didn't graduate high school, Jensen. I got my fucking GED because my parents made me and I barely passed that. now you want me to do book keeping and shit? I DON'T KNOW HOW! THAT'S WHAT AN ACCOUNTANT IS FOR!"
Jay: "I never said you had to do book keeping. If anything you could help keep the office organized. We could've found you a task that you know how to do. I never would have stuck you with a job you didn't know how to do or felt uncomfortable with. I wanted to show you the books in case something happened to me but I wasn't gonna make you do them."
Ash: "I'm not qualified to do anything there Jensen. I'd just ruin everything you've worked so hard to build."
Jay: "Your negative attitude is another thing I can't fucking stand."
Ash: "I'm not being negative. I'm being realistic and honest with you."
Jay: "No, you're being negative. You have no self confidence and it's hard to be around."
Ash: "Then don't be around me." She said and hung up the FaceTime call.
