ABOUT THE STAFF
MEET MAX
Max is a butch lesbian living in Adelaide, Australia. When he’s not writing or reading about the lesbian experience, he can be found out in nature, captivated by a frog, or perhaps an earthworm.
MEET RILEY
Riley is a butch lesbian living with their femme fiance (and old man of a cat). In between studying their honours in lesbian horror fiction, they read and write novels, craft earrings, and play video games.

I have a zine fest AND anniversary coming up so I’m making a bunch of zines for my partner ❤️❤️
This one is the first edition of a series where I draw all the silly wonderful things all the butches in my life wear. Maybe I’ll do a femme one and general lesbian one too 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Does anyone know of the zine that went around about 3-4 years ago about transfem lesbian sex with diagrams and discussions of the effects of estrogen and sexual practices???
(I cannot remember its name or find it anywhere)

Looking back at all my butch posts from two years ago when I stopped using that way and my heart aches a little. I thought being comfortable in my femininity again was something I just grew into as I accepted being nonbinary.
But ever since I moved out, I’ve been going over things again and realizing that maybe it was to survive.
Maybe it was to deflect enough. Dress femme enough days of the week to get my family to leave me alone. Or to be who they really think I am. Even when it failed, it softened the impact of their words because there was hope in their eyes.
I’m glad I’m finding him again. That butch who’s heart cried “family” after reading SBB the first time, that butch who tried his best to make his hair so full of stories and girlhood fit his emerging self. Who hiked in the thicket around his house cleaning trash to feel useful and do good. Who wrote poetry and wanted so bad to see others like him face to face.
He’s safe now. He’s finally finding himself again. It’s not easy by any means, and he doesn’t resent the femininity that was and still remains. He’s patient with her. But he’s free again.
He’s free and waiting to love, to protect, to be the best for himself and his future lovers.
And his name is Dan.

"Butch-Femme lesbians have existed within the public imagination as stereotypes to be fought against, dupes of heterosexuality, toxic dynamics that are outdated and irrelevant– As Butch-Femme lesbians ourselves, we know that these claims could not be any farther from the truth. We know the hurt that comes from hearing our own community reiterating these messages when Butches, Studs, and Fem/mes have built our community to be what it is today. Even among other lesbians and queer people, we are an underrepresented group, often going unseen and dismissed. Butches and Studs are constantly accused of perpetuating toxic masculinity and emulating men, while Femmes are shamed for daring to love them for who they are. Accusations that ButchFemme culture upholds harmful gender roles and heteronormative stereotypes feels like a bold faced lie when historically (and presently), these dynamics exist to subvert these roles and turn them into something that can be safe and loving. Beloved, our zine project, emerged from our desire to celebrate that love and highlight the beauty that comes along with both identities. We want to revel in the love we feel for our community with those in it, and showcase as many different perspectives and voices as possible in the process."

they need to bring back those photoshoots that they did in the 90s of random dykes and dyke couples they found on the street. idc about glamorous celebrities i want the grimiest rudest hairiest lesbians they can find and i want to see u put them in front of a bluegrey backdrop and tell them to do whatever the fuck. and i want u to take their picture. ask them dumb questions make them laugh get footage of them showing u around the city or introducing u to their cat or something and then put it in a zine so i can absorb it. butchfemme//butchbutch//femmefemme//dykedyke rep is dismal in this digital age of unsexy nudity and hairlessness and im so sick of it im going to start yelling and throwing things
