Doing an October Buying Ban and Hit the Pan project. I'm not allowed to buy anything and I can only use these products. Wish me luck! PS. I was inspired by @scatterb_rae_n to do the ban! #bblogger #bbloggers #buyingban

Q: What strategies do you use to help stick to your buying ban? I'm trying something new this year. My main reading goal is to get through more physical books from the TBR pile of books I already own so I came out with a reward system that also restricts the number of new books I buy. I have a blog post and tik tok video that goes into more detail about how this is supposed to work, but essentially when I finish a book I get a certain amount of money added to a book buying fund. When I buy a new book, I have to subtract the cost from that fund. I went into the negatives quickly thanks to ebook preorders I forgot about, and more recently I broke it for a book that is REALLY hard to find and there was only one left in stock. //CHALLENGES// #LMSApril2021 - Swoon Worthy #RFABApril21 - 5 Star Read #booksarepugaliciousapr21 - Firebird: plot twist //HASHTAGS// #bookwormproblems #buyingban #bookbuyingban #journalling #booktracker #thedarkestpowers #kelleyarmstrong #werewolves #supernatural #paranoamal #yabooks https://www.instagram.com/p/CNoBwCmLVq1/?igshid=1nyo0uunu2u1v

QOTD: Do you have any tips and tricks for getting new books without breaking a buying ban? I've had so much practice I'm a pro at it now. You've seen my monthly haul reels filled with a decent number of books, but would you believe I've only broken my current ban ONCE since the beginning of the year?! (That was for a book buy a favourite author that is incredibly hard to find). THREE (LEGAL) WAYS TO GET NEW BOOKS WITHOUT BREAKING YOUR BAN 📚 The library is your friend. Borrow all the books! You can borrow from bookworm friends too. 📚 Become with friends with fellow bookworms who might unhaul books and give them to you for free (@happyindulgence is responsible for a good 70% of my newest books 😂) 📚 Accept book bribes from family and friends. This is how my mum convinces me to run errands 😂 While you aren't supposed to be spending money on books while on a ban, there's no reason you can't buy booksleeves, bookmarks, and scrunchies!! #reppost Like that segue there? 😂 FRIENDLY REMINDER THAT @craft_of_stars SCWAB COLLECTION GOES ON SALE ON MONDAY!! There's all your old favourite products in fabulous prints, along with two exciting new items!!! Remember to use the code BOOK10 at check out to save! //HASHTAGS// #currentlyreading #openbook #scrunchies #floral #booksandflowers #auskiwibooksta #buyingban #bookstagrammer #ausyabloggers #ausbookishfeatuers #bookishmerch #booknerdigans #bookdragon https://www.instagram.com/p/CMMZ-Xrgg2l/?igshid=5987yusxusmi

QOTD: What strategies do you use to help your self stick to a buying ban? Usually I start a buying ban because I'm broke. That's still true for this year, but I'm also trying to get through more of my physical TBR because it's surpassed 250 books 🙊 Normally my lack of funds and the fact I don't leacve the house helps me stick to my buying ban for the most part. But I always give in to temptation at some point. So I've started this sort of reward strategy so I don't feel so restricted but also encouraged to get through my books. The basic concept is that for every book I read, I get a monetary value added to a budget. That budget determines how much I spend on books. I get to add 50c when I read a library book or ebook. I get to add $1 when I read a physical book from my TBR pile or a review copy. I may start to include some other things (like exercise) to the rewards to try and encourage more healthy habits too. Any book I buy has to be subtracted from the total budget. That included ebook pre-orders I placed last year. It's a way I can still by books but limit my spending (because of my guilt if I put the balance in the negatives) Here's hoping this works and I make a decent dent in my TBR pile! //CHALLENGES// #RFABJan21 - Book Merch (there's a bookmark and some @sparkandsparrowperth candles in there) //HASHTAGS// #buyingban #bujo #bujospread #bujolayout #openbook #booknerd #booknerdigan #bookbuyingban #bookblogger #bookwormproblems #bookworm #bookish #bookstagrammer #ausyablogger #bulletjournal #bookmarks https://www.instagram.com/p/CJqKWH-AO6s/?igshid=fckoc7mngnmu
