Imagine they have to go out, will is ready but mike is in front of the mirror struggling to make his hair look right and he keeps getting progressively more frustrated and complaining about how it looks terrible but will is like "what are you talking about, you look so pretty" cause in his eyes he does 😭 he looks so pretty to him even when his hair is all messy. And mike feels so overwhelmed with love cause no matter how many times will tells him that, he can never get used to it. 

And then will goes to help him and while hes busy with his hands in his hair, mike just stares at him with a look of pure love and admiration and with the sweetest smile ever plastered on his face and all he can think about is how pretty his boyfriend is and how much he loves him

ST redditors want Mike and El to have some shared mission in s5, just the two of them.

And I’m not opposed to it.

What if they were just about to close the gates, after getting all the dangerous creatures that crawled into Hawkins back there. And then something pulled Will in right before the gates closed. And the lab people/army refused to open it because they are sure Will could not be alive anymore even seconds after going in there with all those creatures and it wouldn’t be worth it.

And we get all the emotional reactions from the characters and the camera focuses on Mike the most and he takes it the hardest. And he refuses to believe Will is gone (same as in s1). And one night he sneaks into El’s room and asks her to come open the gates and find Will. And that’s the shared mission. El and Mike go into the UD together to find Will, and during their quest they are finally forced to talk for real and we find out what’s going on in Mike’s head.

And then they find Will and we finally get a proper byler hug (and ofc willel hug too) and later, once they’ve had time to confess their feelings, we’ll get a kiss, maybe two.

Yeah, I’m not opposed to that at all. 😏

and when in s5 mike and will have their final Big and Romantically-Coded fight and they avoid each other after that bc stuffs is awkward and angst is good and then one of them (will) gets injured and uh oh!! its just the two of them only the other one can help clean up the injuries and the one thats injured is like "no i can do it" but the other one still helps and is like "im not gonna let u bleed out wtf is wrong w u my love💞" and they finally talk and theyre cheesy asf. then what😵

“hey, have you talked to your mom about sleeping arrangements yet?” mike asked as he added an old pair of gray sweats to a donation box.

“yeah,” will said. “she and el are going to stay with hopper at the cabin, and jonathan and i will be staying with you guys. apparently your mom insisted.”

mike bit his lip to keep himself from outright smiling like an idiot at the news. he assumed it would be something like this, but knowing will would be staying with him rather than at the cabin was a relief. he couldn’t explain it, but he felt the need to be close to will. he’d just gotten him back and with the world turning to shit again… well, he just didn’t want to let will out of his sight. he didn’t want to think too hard about why that was.

“cool,” mike said, maybe a bit too casually.

will came up beside him and peeked into the box. “finally getting rid of those ancient sweats, i see.” he laughed.

“hey, they’re not that old!”

“mike. c’mon, man. you’ve had them since we were twelve. maybe even ten or eleven, who knows.”

“and? they still fit until a few months ago when i went through that ridiculous growth spurt.”

“hmm, okay.” will smiled at him, and his stomach did a weird flip. “hey, you’ve got more freckles.”

“do i?” mike supposed that could be right. he hadn’t thought much about it. “i mean… it has been awhile. i guess maybe i do.”

“yeah, you do. hard to see ‘em under all those curls you’ve got though,” will teased, and mike stopped breathing.

as the words left will’s mouth, his hand came up to mike’s face and smoothed back a few strands that had fallen into his face and tucked them behind his ear.

will’s hand stilled as he seemed to register what he’d done. “i—” he said. “um… your hair…”

“uh, yeah.” mike swallowed and begged himself not to lean into will’s fingers as they hung in midair by his ear.

mike wanted to do something, say something. he wasn’t sure what the situation required though, so they just stood there, mouths hung open slightly and eyes blown wide in mirrored shock.

will cleared his throat and finally retracted his hand. “right, uh… so what else needs to be sorted?”

mike didn’t much care about sorting through the boxes anymore honestly.

ok imagine s5 mike tending to a wound on wills face as he finally tells him he thanked el abt the painting “and she said she had no idea what i was talking abt” and will cant escape the question cause he’s trapped under his hand and they’re so close to eachother and make awkward eye contact and mike keeps going like “i mean i’m just trying to figure out why you felt the need to lie abt her feelings and make up this whole story abt how she needs me so much” and will gets nervous cause mikes getting a lil mad so he accidentallysays something like “no! i mean maybe i lied a little abt el…but i wasnt… i mean the feelings were real…” and theres like awkward silence and so much tension and mike finally starts to get it and ofc they’re interrupted

consider this. will comes back to hawkins after he finishes his first year at college in california. mike, who stayed behind to figure out what he wants to do with his life so didn’t apply to any school, can’t be happier to see his best friend/boy he’s in love with back home… though mike seems a little… distracted the first few days will is back. by this point they both know there’s tension between them and some unsaid things but neither have had the guts to bring them up and take the final leap to be together.

anyway, mike is distracted taking driving classes from jonathan who is also back home from school. and well… mike isn’t the best and most natural driver out there. he… yeah he has a rough time trying to coordinate the pedals and keeping an eye on other cars. also, his starts aren’t the smoothest and while with other things both mike and will would laugh it off and mock mike’s lack of talent all in good faith, this time mike is actually upset of his poor progress. it comes to mike being moody most days, cursing behind the wheel when the cars turns off once more bc he didn’t coordinated the pedals once more.

finally will asks mike what the big deal is, why he is so set on learning how to drive when mike never before showed any interest, happy biking anywhere in town. and then mike, blushing a little and not looking at will in the eye, confesses that he applied for a school in california too that’s only twenty or so minutes away from will in car, a huge difference to the hour and a half it would take him in public transport. and mike still hasn’t gotten accepted yet but… but if he does then he wants to know how to drive so he can go see will anytime he wants.

and yes, will melts right then and there.

somehow they end up having their first kiss though don’t ask me how bc i can’t brain that out this late at night

Was having a completely normal day and then I thought of byler doing just. Cute relationship stuff and now I’m smiling like an idiot. Here are the thoughts I was thinking that have caused this.

1. Established relationship byler forehead kisses (bonus if like. One of them is late to work or a job interview and they give the other a very quick peck on the forehead like “okay love you bye!!”

2. Also established relationship, Will and Mike dancing to old music in the kitchen (bonus if it’s a love song)

3. Pre-relationship- Will and Mike draw each other. (Bonus if Wills drawing is like jaw-droppingly stunning and then Mikes is stick figures. Will would hang up Mikes drawing anyways.)

I have more which I might post about later we will see 😼

Mike the type of guy to walk in mid someone explaining what it’s like to finally be in love and say some snarky shit like, “Yeah, I think everyone over the age of five knows what it’s like to have a best friend, but thanks for the explanation,” with his full chest, only to have a silent oh shit oh shit I fucked up moment when a hush falls over the room. (Dustin, sweet oblivious hetero soul that he is, unknowingly saves him by putting on his overdramatic theater persona and saying “Jeez, I had no idea you felt that way, Mike. This is all so sudden…” Robin and Steve are side eying one another from opposite corners of the room. Will, red-faced, looks like he’s doing the worlds most complicated math equation. Murray scans the room and catalogues it for later.)

Imagine Nancy and Robin going into Mike's room bc of whatever plot related reasons. Robin takes ONE look at Mike's posters, Will's paintings all over the walls, all the geek stuff everywhere, his wardrobe, a Bronksi Beat caset thrown on the bed, and then says "...I think I need to talk with your brother".

Bonus points if she's never met/talked to Mike before LMAO

Imagine byler are having an argument and mike goes "you said we were bestfriends but you couldnt even tell me you had a girlfriend in lenora?" and will is like "what??" and denies having a girlfriend, but mike keeps insisting that he knows he had at least something going on with a girl and will is exasperated and keeps telling him no, until he blurts out "some of us just arent made for love mike" through frustration, cause he genuinely believes that. And mike is so shocked and hurt that will could ever think like that of himself

Unrealistic Season 5 Byler scenarios that are (probably) never gonna happen (or they might)

• Crazy together parallel when they're a couple already or right before ("Let's live up to our promise")

• Pre season 1 flashbacks of their relationship

• A parallel to the destruction of castle Byers but with Mike being confronted with his sexuality and flashbacks from HIS perspective on Byler throughout the show

• Will gives up and Vecna thinks he won him over but Mike saves him

• "I'm not the heart. I think we're the heart, us together"

• "It's always been you"

• A flashback showing how Mike rebuilt castle Byers and found the ripped picture, him and Will torn apart, before he starts crying because of it

• Will as a badass after the time jump (but most of it is a facade). New haircut, swearing, smoking, unpopular but popular amongst his people, like Eddie, possibly a rebound bf to have Mike jealous, finally lashing out at Mike etc.

• Mike's confession while Will's life is at risk paralleling to the pizza Midleven confession but with no lies, actual emotion and genuinity

• The last Byler scene of the show having them alone on swings and walking off hand in hand or holding hands for at least a moment

• Mike completely breaks down and has a real big cry because of his feelings for Will (it's not a want, it’s a need)

• Murray thinks Will and Mike are secretly a couple and laughs out loud when they tell him they aren't

• And then he Murrays them

• Mike cries over the unsent letters for Will/flashbacks of when he was writing them for hours just to cross everything out in the end/Love, Mike

• The party invading a motel because they had to leave Hawkins for obvious reasons and Will and Mike sharing a room/uncomfortable and little panic moments/sharing a bed (actually Mike refuses to do so because "he's not gay"😛 (but he would probably agree eventually when he noticed he made Will feel bad))

will injuring himself (on his face preferably but not a big injury like a lil cut yk) and trying to clean it up but not succeeding bc he cant do it himself and then mike comes and holds his face and does it for him but will's like "nono i got this😡" but then mike looks at him with that look like 😏 LMAO OR SMTH and will shuts up

and then they strt leaning in and allat and they KISS softly but only for a split second bc joyce is coming in the bathroom checking up on will

and then she sees mike and is like "😲😳 guess you guys are ok" and walks away and will and mike just smile at eachother nervously shyly giggily

and then either smth happens and they have to break away for good OR they kiss. make out🔥🔥🚒

somewhere out there mike and will are getting ready for bed. mike turns on the nightlight, shuts off the main light, and cuddles close to his husband with his head tucked into the crook of his neck. he runs his hand soothingly through will’s hair until they’re both fast asleep
