Tossing the wolf inside, Helio thuds against the desk, and Danny shuts the door. Now the music is gone, even to Danny’s ears, for he had his office soundproofed by vampires. It leaves near-silence between them, with only the sound of Helio’s haggard breaths and blood pumping through his mortal body.

Helio hasn’t bothered to wipe away the blood leaking from his lip, so it drips past his chin and slides down his neck. His brown eyes glow gold with wolf inside him. “Asshole!”

“You can’t fight in my club,” he says. “Save it for the Underground. Do you know how many humans are out there? What if one of you had shifted?”

Helio scoffs. “That wouldn’t happen.”

Danny agrees with him. If he’s about to be promoted, he certainly wouldn’t lose control over a snide insult. “Maybe not you, but what about that asshole?”

“He had it coming.”

“Because he talked bad about your pack? Grow up.” Danny feels the reluctance in his chest as he speaks. He’s only twenty-five, a toddler in purebred years.

“I don’t give a shit what he says about my pack. We’ve been going at it for years.”

Danny hesitates before laughing with antipathy. “Over a joke, then?” “It’s not a fucking joke,” Helio shoves Danny with all his might, which sends him lightly into the wall. “You wouldn’t understand. You live forever and you don’t have to worry about forgetting anything.”

Danny grows silent, realizing that when the asshole had said, “your Alpha had to step down because she couldn’t fucking remember how to shift anymore,” he’d meant it literally. That is not a joke, but it doesn’t excuse throwing someone across his club.

No, Danny doesn’t understand what it’s like to forget. He remembers every waking moment of his unending night.

Danny grabs Helio and spins them around, so now he pins the werewolf. He can’t help the sarcasm in his tone, “No, you’re right. I wouldn’t understand. I remember everything. Five thousand years of suffering that can never end. Aren’t I lucky?”

Helio’s eyes widen, any last glimpse of fury gone, leaving only shock in his brown eyes. His torn tank top strap hangs, leaving his right shoulder bare. The blood trickling down his neck begins to dry. Danny glares into his eyes, but the werewolf’s gaze drifts lower.

To Danny’s lips.

With a swift movement, Helio yanks him closer, leaning his head down to close the gap and plant his mouth onto his.

This is exactly what Danny was afraid would happen. If the Order doesn’t want him to do this, he should pull away. He should ban Helio from his club for starting a fight. Maybe he should even pick up and move somewhere else to avoid the inevitable supernatural dilemma. But he tastes the fresh blood from Helio’s lip, and it’s much sweeter than it smells. He’s kissing a werewolf—something he has never experienced, despite his years. He doesn’t want to stop.

Knowing it’ll piss off the Order just makes him want to do it more. He presses himself against Helio, hip points digging into each other. He runs his tongue along the inside of Helio’s lip, finding the bleeding cut, letting another few drops of blood flow across his tongue. The werewolf’s breaths shake, too erratic for him to tell if its nerves or excitement.

He moves away from Helio’s mouth and follows the trail of blood, kissing it off of his chin, his jaw. Arteries pump emphatically just under the skin, and Danny can sense Helio’s hair stand up and his breath catch in his throat as he moves down to his neck.

Something hard emerges against his hips as his tongue reaches the crevice where throat meets clavicle, licking away the last of the blood.

“Shit…” Helio hisses.

All the logic in Danny’s head tells him to stop; that he should listen to the Order; that he shouldn’t create enemies of an entire pack. But his hand doesn’t listen as it travels down Helio’s smooth chest and into his pants.

Helio’s body tenses and his harsh fingers coil around the collar of Danny’s blouse. For a moment, his eyes are a hot glare, as if to say how dare you? He means to push the vampire away, tell him to stop, curse him to hell, maybe even punch him. But just like Danny, he loses his inner debate. His weight gives in to the wall, allowing Danny’s hand to move deeper. Gentle lips back in the crook of his neck, Helio releases a low moan.

After a few long moments, hickey already forming, Helio speaks, breath tight and caught in his chest. “Fuck me."

Danny pulls away from his collarbone, curiosity twinkling in his eyes. He rises onto his toes so that their noses brush softly and he can taste Helio’s unsteady breaths against his mouth. The vampire’s hand, still deep in Helio’s pants, slows its movements and his voice resonates with smooth velvet once more.

“Are you sure that’s what you want?” Helio, biting his lip to stifle another moan, says again, “Fuck me."

Younger Siblings Tournament Bracket Reveal

A few things I want to mention before I reveal the bracket (and make the post really long because all the matchups will be listed in text):

Seeding of fictional characters in tumblr polls is inherently subjective. I did try to make it so that more popular characters/media would (most likely) face off against each other in later rounds, but I may be overestimating or underestimating the popularity of some characters/media, especially ones I'm not familiar with. There are some round 1 matchups that are probably a closer match but none of them are between the strongest candidates... I think.

The more niche characters will probably get obliterated in the first round as per Squimbus' Law. This is a tumblr poll and I do fully expect more popular characters to sweep, but that doesn't mean you can't encourage your friends to give your niche faves a fighting chance.

Also there are some matchups I literally just thought would be funny. Please don't take this too seriously.

Series Premise: What happened when Cassie met Sienna? Small moments that defined their friendship.

Cassie Valentine was in love. She had been for a while now. But now it was the start of a new year—their last few months as residents, Cassie thought excitedly—and she wanted her friends to find love too.

Bryce was stubborn, sneakily avoiding her matchmaking attempts. Jackie had laughed uproariously at the thought of being set up and threatened to exercise her powers as Chief Resident to give Cassie all the shitty assignments. Elijah and Phoebe were still dancing around each other and got a pass. For Now.

But it was her bestie that Cassie was most concerned about.

Sienna Trinh had been single longer than she should have been after dumping Wayne’s sorry ass in intern year. For a short while, she thought Danny and Sienna might become an item. But tragedy had struck before anything could become of it.

Cassie knew that of all her friends, Sienna was the kind to want to be in a relationship. She was a romantic and deserved a fantastic guy who’d give her the world. The question was, who?

This time last year, Cassie wondered at the intimacy she saw developing between her brother and Sienna during the tree trimming. But Sienna had denied there was anything more than friendship. Max had been equally cagey.

Twin Code meant she couldn’t call him out unless he permitted it. It was one of the handful of times when she hated the code.

And then their friendship seemed to have ended, only to reignite a few months later. Something happened between them during Thanksgiving. She was sure of it. But she got the sense they weren’t ready to discuss it.

Still, it would hurt her incredibly to have to choose between them. But when it came down to it, Max was her ride-or-die and had been since before they came into this world.

Regardless of what was or wasn’t, right now, she had one mission: find Sienna a prince.

Too bad the one in Cordonia was taken. He would have given Sienna a kingdom, and she would have made an amazing queen.

Cassie scanned the doctors and healthcare workers milling about Edenbrook’s atrium at the end of shift and thought it was slim pickings. Maybe she should expand her search to Mass Kenmore or Tufts. Or better yet, go outside the hospital system.

“Should I be worried?”

Cassie absently glanced over to see Ethan standing a few feet away, arms folded across his chest and lips quirked in amusement.

“Huh?” she sputtered.

“You’re staring pretty hard at Dr. Fellows. Planning to dump me for a younger model?” Ethan drawled.

Cassie blushed at being caught.

“Think I got a chance with Edenbrook’s Casanova?” she teased.

Ethan rolled his eyes. “All he requires is a heartbeat and a clean blood test. You be the judge.”

Cassie laughed at the disdain in his voice and mentally crossed Dr. Fellows off her list. Not that he was ever on it. Sienna deserved better. But Blake, his senior resident, was nice, friendly, and who she’d been spying on.

“Don’t worry, Dr. Ramsey,” she said, slinking over to his side, putting an extra swing in her hips. “I happen to like older men.”

“Lucky me,” he quipped sarcastically before taking her hand. His face softened as he stroked the back of her hand with his thumb. “I’m heading out. Want to come home with me?”

“Can’t,” she said. “Sienna and I are having a girls’ night out. Cocktails followed by more cocktails.”

“Make sure there’s food somewhere between all those cocktails,” he warned.

Ethan placed a swift kiss across the lips, told her to have fun and then walked away toward the parking elevator.

Sienna joined Cassie in the atrium a few minutes later. “Ready to go?”

Cassie led Sienna across the atrium and past Blake. He was seriously cute in a boy-next-door way, thought Cassie. The other resident waved a greeting, and they stopped to chat briefly. She knew Blake and Sienna had recently partnered on a rotation, so she had high hopes.

She watched them talking shop, her friend being her usual cheerful self, and sighed in disappointment. No spark. Not even an ember.

As she and Sienna slid into the backseat of their rideshare, Cassie checked Blake off her list of potential suitors. Maybe she should ask Aurora for recommendations at Mass Kenmore. Her friend wasn’t one for gossip but always seemed to know who to invite or avoid.

A short ride later, they stood outside a swanky martini bar in Back Bay. Cassie pushed the door open and smiled, pleased at returning to familiar surroundings. She didn’t mind Donahue’s, but sometimes a girl just needed to enjoy a drink in style.

Sienna beamed at Cassie as they followed their hostess to a brown leather booth with a high back, her eyes taking in the decor's contemporary opulence tempered by Old World touches. Smooth jazz played overhead, but not so loud that it made conversation difficult.

While Sienna perused the menu, Cassie surreptitiously scanned the room for prospective boyfriends for her bestie. She’d settle for first-date contenders.

There was nothing quite like a great first date, she thought. All the possibilities, none of the heartache.

“Okay, I have to say something,” Sienna interrupted, putting her menu down. “Are you checking out the men here because you’re thinking of dumping Dr. Ramsey?”

“Why does everyone keep asking me that?” Cassie grumbled, making a face.

“Jealous, then. Do we need to teach him a lesson about not taking you for granted?” Sienna queried, her brows beetling in indignation at Ethan’s mythical indiscretion.

Cassie laughed at how fierce Sienna looked. It reminded her of the first time they went to Donahue’s and how she had stared down a drunk frat boy.

“Ethan and I are fine,” she assured Sienna. “We’re still in our post-holiday glow.”

“Then, why are you always scoping out men?” Sienna said, confused. “At Edenbrook, here. The other day in the park.”

Cassie groaned out loud, wanting to bang her head on the table. She covered her face with her hands instead. Here she thought she’d been subtle. Clearly not. God only knew what Edenbrook’s rumor mill was saying.

“I’m not scoping out men,” Cassie said. “Actually, that’s not true. I am. But not for me. For you.”

Sienna looked stunned. She just stared at Cassie, her mouth opening and closing, but no words came out.

“I’m sorry,” Cassie said, sincere in her apology. “I know it’s none of my business, but I just want to see you happy in love. The way I am. And as I say it aloud, I realize how patronizing and presumptuous I sound.”

When her friend remained silent, Cassie wondered what it would take to return to her good graces. She was not above begging for forgiveness.

Before Cassie could do just that, Sienna whispered so softly that she had to lean in to hear.

“You don’t have to. There’s already someone in my life. A guy,” she clarified when Cassie looked at her askance.

“I see,” Cassie said slowly. “Is it someone I know?”

“Yes,” Sienna looked away, her hands absently mangling a napkin. “I’ve been meaning to talk to you since you got back from Bali, but we haven’t been alone. Not really.”

Cassie couldn’t figure out why Sienna was so nervous. And then she said his name, and Cassie knew that this time it was her who likely looked poleaxed.

“Wait a second. Pause and rewind … what did you just say?”

“It’s Max. Your brother,” Sienna repeated. “He and I…. We….” She sighed, dropping the napkin, only to pick it up. “At Thanksgiving, we—"

“Are you two sleeping together?” Cassie cut in, still trying to wrap her head around the image of Max—her Max—with Sienna.

She had so many questions, the topmost being how long had this been going on? Was this what had caused a rift between them last summer? And why didn’t Max tell her when they told each other everything?

“What? No, of course not,” Sienna gasped.

“Why not?” Cassie retorted, insulted on behalf of her twin. “What’s wrong with him?”

“There’s nothing wrong with Max,” Sienna said dreamily. “He’s wonderful, amazing. So kind. And when he smiles, my heart just melts into a puddle.”

Cassie thrummed her fingers on the table as she considered this latest development. Their server interrupted, and they placed their orders after listening to his recommendations.

“Okay,” Cassie said once they were alone. “I want to know everything. Once our drinks get here. I feel this tale requires alcohol. Start from the beginning, and don’t hold back!”

Later, Cassie sipped her martini and listened to Sienna tell her about her and Max’s friendship, how she’d gotten jealous of his playboy love life, and their declaration to each other during Thanksgiving.

She watched a spark ignite Sienna’s eyes, the color reminding her of Ethan’s favorite scotch. And knew that whatever this was, her friend wasn’t aware of the depth of her feelings or was in denial. She also had no idea how her life was going to change.

Once a Valentine met their true love, it was for life. And while Cassie still needed to grill Max to get the complete picture, her intuition was jumping for joy that her brother had finally met his match.

“Are you angry with me?” Sienna asked eventually when Cassie didn’t say anything.

“Not angry,” Cassie admitted. “But I’m disappointed that you didn’t tell me sooner. And Max didn’t say anything either, which upsets me even more.”

“Don’t blame him,” Sienna rushed in. “I asked him to give me time and not to say anything to you until I was ready. He wasn’t comfortable doing that, but he did. For me.”

Cassie reached across the table and covered Sienna’s hand with hers.

“If he makes you happy, that’s all I need to know,” Cassie said. “I won’t interfere while you two figure this out. But I’m here if you need to talk. No judgment or incriminations. I promise.”

She moved her hand away and took a bite of the olive from her martini. “At least, now I can stop creeping around strange men. Ethan will be delighted, I can assure you.”

Sienna giggled, and Cassie joined in. Soon they were doubled over in laughter, attracting looks from the patrons around them.

Their server popped over to check if everything was okay but couldn’t get a word amidst all that laughter. He rolled his eyes, grabbed their empty glasses, and headed back to the bar to print their bill. They clearly had had enough alcohol to last the night.

Ok so I have 2 major Pompous Pep fanfics I'm working on and I'm making a side fanfic off of one of them for short drabbles and I need to share one cuz omfg I need this in my life.

The Fire

Notes: OK, so this one came to me while my fiance and I's stove started smoking badly from something burning inside. So remember to clean out your stoves before cooking!

TW: fire, smoke inhalation, and almost (?) character death

It was just dinner plans. Who would've thought that a nice dinner for Valentine's Day would turn out so horrible?

It started like any normal at-home dinner date. Danny was cooking up the sides while Vlad prepared the meat. Vlad had bought a chicken from the local butcher shop and wanted to make baked chicken as a nice Valentine's Day dinner. They were all dressed up and were prepping the food. Danny and Vlad had stepped away to let the stove heat up and had somehow started making out on the dining room table. Danny let out a soft moan as he kissed the man deeper, wrapping his arms around the man's neck and pulling him close by his waist with his legs so that their crotches were pressed up against each other. Vlad deepened the kiss by pushing his tongue against the teen's lips and Danny happily obliged by parting his lips, letting the older Halfa's tongue slip inside his mouth. Danny rolled his tongue over Vlad's until he could smell something burning and he frowned, slowly opening his eyes and pulling away.

"Vlad, do you smell that?" He asked as Vlad kissed his neck.

"I can only smell the lovely cologne I bought you, Little Badger." Vlad purred as he continued to kiss and suck on the man's neck.

"A-Ah... Vlad wait. I can smell something burning." He gasped out, trying to push the man away as he glanced around the room. Vlad finally stopped and looked rather angry at being stopped but glanced to where Danny was looking.

"Now that you stopped me, I can smell something too." He said, glancing over to the kitchen. Danny's eyes widened as he noticed giant puffs of smoke coming from the kitchen.

"Oh crap the stove!" He cried as he bolted to the kitchen. He was immediately assaulted by the smell of something burning and thick clouds of smoke. Danny immediately started coughing harshly and covered his mouth, closing his eyes halfway to try and see where the smoke started. He ran over to the stove and turned it off, opening it to get assaulted by thicker clouds of smoke. He coughed worse, his throat closing up and his eyes watering badly. "V-Vlad! H-Help! Th-The fire extinguisher..." He gasped out weakly, coughing worse as he grabbed a hand towel and started waving it up and down to try and get the smoke out. The smoke just got worse and he weakly started to get dizzy from inhaling the smoke. "V-Vlad... H-Help..." He gasped out weakly, still covering his mouth. Suddenly, the stove caught fire and Danny was hit with the flames lapping at his arm he cried out in pain as he started to get burned on his arm right around his elbow. Vlad finally heard Danny and ran in. His eyes widened in horror at the fire and yanked Danny away, who immediately fell into the man and went limp, groaning softly.

"Daniel! Hey Daniel! Stay with me!" He cried out, pulling Danny out of the room, grabbing the fire extinguisher, and spraying the fire as the fire alarm went off. The security system alerted Vlad of the danger and that firefighters were on the way. Vlad focused on getting Danny out of the house, threw one of Danny's arms over his shoulder, and dragged him out of the mansion. Danny was limp in the man's arm and wheezing softly. Vlad panicked as he laid Danny on the ground and started compressions. "Daniel!? Can you hear me!?" He called, listening to Danny's heartbeat. It was fast as hell, but it was starting to slow down. He could hear sirens in the distance but tried to do CPR, pressing his lips to Danny's mouth and blowing air, trying to get Danny breathing or even conscious. "C'mon Little Badger... Come back to me..." He muttered softly, continuing compressions. After some time, it seemed like he wouldn't wake up, making Vlad's heart race. "C'mon Little Badger... I know you're in there..." He whimpered out, kissing Danny and blowing air into him one last time as the fire truck started to pull in. Danny suddenly let out a wheeze and gasp of air and started coughing badly. Vlad let out a loud sigh of relief as he slowly sat Danny up and vigorously patted his back, helping him cough. "There you are..." He gasped out weakly, pulling the teen into a hug, and holding him close. Danny coughed harshly as he leaned into the man, weakly looking up at him.

"Vlad? Ugh... My head..." He gasped out, his eyes half open.

"You scared me, Little Badger..." He whimpered softly, burying his nose into the teen's hair and holding him tightly.

"Sorry... I wasn't expecting to pass out..." He gasped out weakly as he leaned into the man.

"I'm just glad you're alive... You scared me shitless..." He whimpered softly. Danny sighed softly as he leaned into the man and slowly hugged the older man back as firefighters showed up.

"I'm here, Fruitloop..." He said softly.

Earlier this month, dealers flocked to the heart of Texas for the Dallas Art Fair.

Despite nearly being attacked by a rogue collector there last year, I was sad to not be in attendance this time.

Suffice to say, it’s always lively.

To find out what I was missing, I asked my friends Sam Marion Wilken and Shane Rossi, who run the scrappy new Manhattan gallery Francis Irv, to take some photos while they exhibited at a satellite fair, the Dallas Invitational.

You heard a soft groan as you rubbed your eyes, wrapping yourself in the soft fabric of your bedsheets.

Eyelids heavy, your lips curl up into a smile.

Man, I thought I had everything, I was lonely

"Honey, would you do the honour of being my valentines?"

That sentence from the week prior replayed in your head over and over again. It was your first valentines together as boyfriend and girlfriend. You smiled to yourself as you remembered the time Daniel asked you on a date.

I mixed a lot of love with a lot of drugs, then I found you

She liked petty crimes, she had green eyes like Mountain Dew

And where she go, I'll never know

Her friends bounced too

"Oh please, don't waste your time on stupid men like him," Daniel put his arm around your waist. "I can do way better than that, buttercup. Especially for the fact, it's Valentines. His loss for leaving you. But my win for having you here with me." Daniel winks, his confidence never wavered and grin never leaving his face.

I guess it's their loss 'cause they'll never know what we'll amount to

"Morning, baby." You head a gruff yet muffled voice under the blanket, snapping you out of your thoughts. You giggle softly, lifting the covers from your boyfriend's face.

"Morning, love." You grin, leaning in and peppering his chin with kisses.

Your boyfriend chuckles, pulling you in. One thing about your boyfriend, for sure, is that he was never afraid to show his love and affection for you. "C'mere, honey, I'm cold." Daniel wraps his arms around you, kissing your shoulder.

You laughed softly. "Happy one year and valentines, Danny." You sigh happily, kissing the bridge of your boyfriend's nose.

"Happy one year and valentines to you too, honey bee." Daniel kisses your cheek. "I'm taking you out today."

You smile, "Oh? You didn't tell me we had plans. I would've woke up earlier."

Daniel grinned, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "I'm taking you out at night. It's a secret, love. But I promise you'll love it."

You chuckled, shaking your head. "Alright, Danny, you win this time. I'm all yours for the day."

Spring is springing!

OTMS

MUN: V! What happens when the world’s greatest supervillain gets dumped? V showed us, expertly weaving humor, drama, and some downright scary details in her characteristic style. Writing a great villain is a delicate balance, but V makes it look easy!

CHARACTER: JESSICA! Members praised L’s adept handling of Jessica being outed as a succubus and the way this plot highlighted some of the divisions in the Swynlake community. We fell in love with her as CranberryShortcake, we felt for her when her identity was exposed as a succubus, and we were inspired by her strength in the face of adversity. Go Jessica!

THREAD: LOVE FROM THE OTHER SIDE | LOUD BELL! Imagine a heart-wrenching new development in an epic love story that has spanned generations and revealed deep truths about everyone involved… now put it to music! L and C did exactly that in this creative take on some Valentine’s Day magical hoopla. In the words of one member: “Call backs, evolution, complicated feelings through song. Mwah. Gorgeous.”

TASK: IN TRANSLATION | HERCULES! This one pulled at the heartstrings and showed us different sides of Hercules, with a brilliant use of the “5 times X, 1 time Y” format. Members loved the way L incorporated a variety of characters in moments that felt so true to their distinct personalities. 

Honorable mention: J’s Book Covers! Our members loved to see how J incorporated a variety of genres, included a wide range of characters, and even brought in some amazing art!

TASKS

SOWING SEEDS FOR THE FUTURE! Write a one-shot where your character does something in the present… that will affect their future! This can be literal sowing of seeds in their garden, or perhaps investing time in a skill or relationship. Write what they do and then flash-forward so that they can reap what they sow. (700 words)

THE LANGUAGE OF FLOWERS! Make a bouquet for one of your characters (or someone else’s!). Include at least nine flowers in visual form – they can be significant in meaning in some way (flower language, birth flower, national flower), or they can just look pretty! Write 250 words about why you chose each flower for the bouquet (250 words total – not for each flower, we’re not monsters).
