“I’m afraid of bugs," she had said.

He knows he's been considered a bug plenty of times by plenty of people before, just something that should be squashed and thrown away. That view of him was never important when he knew he was not a bug, and no one else's opinion mattered to him in the slightest.

"Afraid of being useless," she had also said.

Although he doesn't have any desire to consider her in terms of 'useful' vs. 'useless', the Byakuran of the past could have tried to kidnap her to use against Tsunayoshi-kun. He didn't. If he wanted to hold anyone hostage, it would've been Kyoko-chan, the darling of Vongola Tenth. Haru-chan never seemed important enough and didn't have the the same ties to them, so he never paid attention.

"And terrified of being forgotten."

There were alternate versions of Haru-chan, of course. Some of them stood up to him directly, and he hasn't really forgotten that. He didn't think much of it when his ultimate goal was the only thing he really thought about. It was interesting, but he had priorities at the time. He doesn't have priorities anymore.

But he knows her better now. He's paid attention this time. Haru-chan is one of the most vibrant people he's ever seen and he doesn't think he'd ever forget. Popular, pretty, entertaining, deeper than expected, kinder than anyone he—

"There's a lot I'm afraid of, but that's normal for everyone," she had told him.

She was right there watching when he'd nearly crushed Tsunayoshi-kun to death and pierced his heart with Shiroryuu's arrow form. She was there to see him lose his mind as both his wings and his life's only ambition were torn off. And yet, when they met here, she was just nervous and apprehensive. She was not afraid of him.

"Even you, I'm sure."

Does he have anything to be afraid of? If so, what?

He's been thinking about it while twirling that arrow in his hand. There are a few things, but he wouldn't consider them fears when they're already happening. They don't qualify as answers to the question.

He flicks his wrist, the arrow flying just like a dart toward a motionless figure in front of him and it will fall to its knees once pierced through the heart. He never sees its face and he prefers to keep it that way when he already knows what it represents. This dream ends the same way every time he sees it.

However, something off to the side moves. Before he can even blink, another figure jumps in front of the first just before the arrow's impact, and it's this figure that falls to its knees. The initial figure is frozen in place and doesn't make a sound as the first falls forward onto the ground.

It's not important, Byakuran tells himself, because this is just a dream. He can just force his mind in a different direction. Lucid dreaming can be very useful, as this is one of them he can usually avoid.

However, a scream so loud distracts him the moment he tries to pull up a different one. It's so loud he thinks he'll wake up, but he doesn't. He can't. All he can do is watch the figure as it—

The arrow still sticks out of its heart, but it's not dead. It's not even injured. It curls its hands into fists as its face and expression forms. It's not afraid, but it's not angry either… he doesn't know what that emotion is.

As soon as he sees tears rolling past its cheeks, he realizes what it is. Betrayal.

He already knows the sharp pain through his own chest isn't real. He's felt it plenty of times before, always shooting through his back and narrowly missing his lungs. It feels different this time, though, and he thinks he knows why—

It's been shot into his own heart.

A wet feeling drips onto his arm as he clutches his chest, but when he looks down, there's nothing at all. No blood. There's no sign of any other normal bodily fluids, and none of that would feel anything like this does.

He would never be able to switch dreams like this, even after he closes his eyes and curls up. It feels so strong that it's impossible to even think beyond how much it hurts. It doesn't matter that this now qualifies as a night terror. He still feels like—

It's hard to tell what length of time passes between the pain taking over his subconsciousness and the moment he notices he can think again. Maybe it's been a long time, maybe not. It doesn't matter. What does matter is that the pain isn't overwhelming anymore. Right now, it's more like torture.

The warmth surrounding him now hurts even more that he's clinging so tight that the arrow presses into him as well. He doesn't want to let go. Even if he could, he wouldn't.

"… but that doesn’t mean the anxiety and the fears from then don’t exist. Be any less valid."

Every tear dripping past his eyelashes burns. Biting his lip doesn't distract him from the sensation, but that's normal when something this hot is pressed against human skin for too long.

"The person I was supposed to be and who I will be are different people."

It's humiliating hearing himself make such a pathetic snivel, but it's better than letting anything else drip off his face. He's already been scalded enough.

"Do you see yourself as the Byakuran we saw back then," she starts in a lively tone, as if nothing is wrong, "or do you understand you’re different from him?"

"I’m a totally different person, but… " He's trying not to sob, but it doesn't matter as his own voice doesn't come from his own lips. All he can do is quiver and hold on as tight as he can.

Still, if he remembers right, she agrees. "You are whatever Byakuran-san you are today, and he was whoever he was."

Even though he knows that, the sheer magnitude of all the horrific and terrible things the past Byakuran weighs down the Byakuran of today. It weighs heavy on everyone who was there for it, not just him, and it will never be any lighter. Crying like this is not something the past Byakuran would do, so what does that make him now, then… ?

— The pillow is soaked and his cheeks are wet when he wakes up. It takes him a moment to blink his eyes open, then reaches up to rub the remaining moisture onto his fingers. Nothing burns anymore. He curls one blanket around his shoulders and thinks… this doesn't feel so bad. It even feels… alright.

If he still feels the need to hear Haru-chan's voice, he'll just call her when it's not four in the morning. They can chat over the phone about something normal, something not related to those dreams. Nothing indicating he'd cried his eyes out, both in and out of sleep. Tears have no relevance to anything, unless he wants to use them as a 'secret ingredient' someday.

… Actually, that's disgusting, so maybe not.

Quick question, do you think 2796 (Chrome X Tsuna) could legitimately work as a pairing? The nervous, hieeeing mob boss and the shy, somehow-still-alive mist girl? Them dating would be a comedy of errors, misunderstandings, and misfortune that ends with them laughing every time.

In my honest opinion, I think Tsuna is a really great person that would be a good influence in anyone’s lives. That might be one of the reasons why I think would make him shippable with any suitable character his age. He’s just a really wonderful supportive, kind person in general.

Not that uke moe Tsuna, All27 stuff though ;;;

Tsuna and Chrome’s relationship, like most of Tsuna’s friends is built on trust and respect. But I think Chrome could be one of the characters Tsuna would have one of the greatest respect for. He’s been there to see her growth. Honestly, she’s his true mist guardian, in addition to being his only female guardian so Tsuna would have a great soft spot for her. She’s a really strong person and Tsuna recognizes that. Aside from her abilities, you can see Tsuna caring for her, worrying about her health ever since Mukuro left her post Future arc.

I think their relationship could be really cute. It would be something built on mutual respect and support. They both have a lot of similarities that they can relate with one another that can lead them to building each other up in a potential relationship.

You bid your friend goodbye, watching them walk off one way to continue working before you turned as well. You could definitely hear him shuffling around.

You hopped up to the corner of the hallway, smiling up at your awaiting partner. “Hayato. You’re being kind of noisy over here. Is something wrong?”

You smiled at the way he grumbled, stuffing his hands in his pockets. He’d need to re-tuck his coat again with how rough he was being.

“You know, they’re just a-“

“I don’t wanna hear that,” he cut in quickly. “Besides, they’re a real touchy friend.”

black tea; what do they look for in a person?

first and foremost, someone who can look after Tsuna, and is loyal to the Vongola. so unless you’re apart of the Vongola, it likely wouldn’t happen. someone who can handle themselves and doesn’t need coddling, and can handle prolonged times alone. he tries to make up for it, but it’s required sometimes

“Oh, haha, found you! Shocker.”

Hayato huffed, brushing you off as you entered Tsuna’s office with a flutter of paperwork.

You offered your boss a kind smile, bowing your head in greeting. “Decimo. Make sure to look after yourself today. It looks like a busy one.”

Tsuna glanced at his growing stack of paperwork, and you snorted. “Thank you… I’ll try. Likewise; don’t push yourself.”

You waved him off with the stack of paper in your hand, blowing his hair back a touch. “Not to worry. Desk work is my forte, Decimo. It’s not a bother at all to be able to help you.”

Once handing him the paper you turned to face Hayato, nudging him with your foot. He glanced up from what he was reading, an eyebrow lifted. You seemed to be in a good mood.

“And are you taking breaks?”

“I don’t need to-“

“Wrong answer. The worst, actually.” You looked back at Tsuna. “Make sure you both take a break, then! Together. Makes it easier to monitor him.”

“I’m not five, you know,” Hayato drawled, and his lips curled up when you grinned.

hm. I think it’d take him some convincing. he’s busy; he has Tsuna to look after, and helps run the Guardians. if Tsuna were to have his own kid, he’d have more than one life to protect, so his own might make it harder. but he might, like, contemplate it if you were good enough at convincing him

Hayato rubbed his temple quietly, staring at the child in your arms. He was incredibly familiar, and he could feel a headache starting to grow.

He could largely tolerate Lambo now that he was older. He still was no good with him as a child.

“Just happened while we were talking outside,” you spoke up, moving your arms to keep Lambo balanced as he scaled you. He liked to climb, the little bastard.

Hayato pulled a face, and you laughed lightly. “Kids really aren’t that bad, you know.”

“Not him.”

“Isn’t he an outlier or something? Like, statistically speaking here, he’s one in a hundred. Or some number like that.”

You reached back and caught Lambo against your back before he could fall, bringing him back to your front.

i got myself worked up thinking about the cradle affair lol, so can i just ask: why didn't nono tell xanxus he was adopted before he had to figure it out himself?

he could literally have done it at any point between day one and xanxus building his whole damn identity around the fact he'd be decimo one day?

and nono was watching him grew up that way, knowing damn well it was never going to happen the whole time, and still, still didn't say anything?

make it make sense??

gokudera really is so smart. i guess i never payed much attention to the fight scenes before lol, but his fight against chikusa is just smart, on the spot strategical decisions one after another that all pay off.

his first attack is clearly to see what kind of fighter chikusa is and what weapon he uses, but also just from the way chikusa deals with it he knows right away he's a professional hitman too. and when he uses his mini dynamites with no hesitation to doge chikusa's attack because he realized at once he wasn't gonna be fast enough to dodge it on his own (and then even if he still wasn't fast enough, he uses the momentum to attack chikusa). and how he takes advantage of his first failed "double bomb" attack to trick chikusa and hit him head on with his mini dynamites, and then finishes him off as he's distracting him by explaining his trick.

and like, it was also pretty much one-sided! he's literally chilling at the end of it, smoking on the floor with no care in the world lol. he makes the mistake to think chikusa done for without making sure of it, but if it wasn't for tsuna i one hundred percent believe he would have won round two too.

i just? gokudera man. he's great.

under covid 19 guidelines and specifically the social distancing rule, would hibari kyoya:

A) thrive, because now not only herbivores can't crowd anymore under his law, but also under national law too

B) be pissed off, because like 70% of his daily deathly bitings come from people crowding, but now?? they just don't??? anymore????? or show up outside their house at all for that matters even when he's craving violence (and it simply doesn't hit the same if he bites them to death just because)

C) immediately turn his tonfas appropriate to use under covid 19 because the devil works hard but hibari kyoya works harder, meaning he adds the exact length to his tonfas so he can always be six feet away from the people he's biting to death (using his chains simply isn't as satisfyingly violent as his tonfas), and he bites them to death too fast for them to laugh or make a comment at how fucking ridiculous he looks

D) ruthlessly apply the guidelines on the willing and especially on the unwilling, and makes namimori a covid 19 free zone before it even had hope to spread in any way at all, and all that of course solely so all the namimori students can keep going to school

E) all the above because hibari kyoya isn't one to half ass things or be perceived in a way that makes sense

Bonus:

F) feel mortifyingly lonely during quarantine now that he hasn't herbivores to bite to death anymore (but no one has to know that), and chooses random students to send texts to ("psychological warfare" every dc member thinks but wisely keeps their mouth shut, and cheers on their president as he's trying to make friends the normal way for once)

G) tsuna is the only one terrified enough of not answering back he turns brave enough to actually send a text back, and apparently it means that if he doesn't answer the following texts within the seven hours he needed to answer the first one, hibari kyoya shows up at his fucking house

prince of tennis is so funny. it starts with fairly realistic tennis as far as i can tell (by which i mean i know exactly nothing about tennis just to be perfectly transparent here lol), exaggerated to make it look badass of course, but the techniques are all explained and all around everything looks believable enough.

and then by the end of the manga there's suddenly devil mode where a guy feels so much bloodlust his eyes and whole body turns red because?? and it exponentially improves his skills somehow, and another guy can deprive his opponent from their senses with his playing style because he's the child of god so obviously it's a given he can do that, and also very visible tangible auras that let them see in the future, and at least by that point we still have somewhat explanations of how the fuck they're doing all that.

but then new prince of tennis takes it to another level entirely, and very tellingly we're not explained shit anymore. these guys can destroy walls with the strenght of their swings, or send their opponent flying, literally flying all the way out of the tennis grounds and more, and they play with one ball but can make it look like ten somehow, and there's black aura involved now too, and demons, and power from other dimensions, and like.

it's never ever acknowledged. none of it is ever fucking explained. their skills are clearly in the magical/supernatural realm now, but you're just supposed to nod along and go "yep, this is tennis, believable tennis i could definitely learn to do too with time and efforts, totally. just your everyday tennis i could witness if i were to turn the tv on a tennis match, absolutely, i believe all of you guys, keep up the good work". and it's so funny when you stop to think about it??

tho don't get me wrong it works, it's good and i love it, it's fun to read, but also. it just sends me how no one ever blinks at it in universe, even the ones that aren't tennis players akdksld.

i'll go first, and it might have been way sooner for most of you, but i'm dumb and i literally knew jack shit about tennis (and still don't know shit about it, beacause pof sure as fuck doesn't teach anything about tennis qjdnqlw 😭), so it's only with the tezuka phantom that i was squinting my eyes at the bullshit half baked explanations, going like "oh, you're really going to go there pot? are we really going to do this?"

and then we did so much worse 😭😭😂
