She had never liked being this far inland. The sea was in her blood, and even now it called to her. On horseback, she could close her eyes and pretend the rolling waves of grass were an ocean. When the khalasar made camp, she was afforded no such comfort. Still, it was not the first sacrifice Shaera had made for her cause, and she doubted it would be the last.
Weaving through tents and campfires, it didn't take her long to reach her destination.
"Might I request an audience , Khaleesi?"

So does Shaera no longer love Aemond?
hi anon! I wouldn’t say she “no longer” loves him. It is a very complicated emotional mess rn, and both of them are reeling from his actions (and the actions of their families, with b&c coming up and Shaera going to oldtown). I don’t think it’s as simple as she doesn’t love him anymore because I don’t think you can just stop loving someone so quickly or on command. She’s betrayed. Hurt. Devastated in every way she never could’ve imagined, and he’s at the center of it all but he’s also been at the center of so much love in her heart, and that’s partially why I still say shaemond is endgame.
star crossed lovers who sometimes find that the source of their hurt is also the source of their love

SHAERA & DAENERYS - @dreamcfspring
Tumblr media
amethyst eyes glistened beautifully, her beautiful silver hair was tied up in dutch braids to keep it away from her face. rhaella. where was her daughter? she still couldn’t find her !! and yet, she had found the man that protected her granddaughter, one whom she hadn’t met. how was that even possible? rhaella was just but a few breaths old when she last had her, right? she raised her cup of coffee, and took a soft sip from it before setting it down, a sigh escaping her lips, and then something caught her eyes. familiar silver hair, features that she recognised, and eyes that screamed TARGARYEN. she couldn’t help herself, she found herself placing the coffee down, her eyes widening a little before she stood up, eyes never leaving the other. “rhaella? is that you?” her voice was filled with hope, in hope that she had finally found her sweet daughter.

— BACKGROUND
tw : childbirth, infertility, death.
an attention seeker through and through — it is what would be said of aerea for years to come, even as her mother pushed her out into this world. she was born early, a moon or so, during the end of the year’s festivities, and instead of lively music, the red keep’s habitants had to contend with hearing the queen’s screams, until aerea’s joined her. though premature, she was sturdy and loud, and despite her plead for attention, the eyes and hands were on the queen, who bled heavily. it was managed and the matriarch would come out of confinement within the estimated time, but aerea would be the last babe visenya would be able to conceive — a blessing in disguise it is said, for the king and queen were fed up of one another, and were more than glad to see an end to their duty to the marriage bed.
with two growing twin boys, a little princess and another baby boy still in his swaddles, aerea is almost inconsequential to the dynasty and, for a while, treated as such. she has a hard time accepting it though, so she does whatever she can to get attention, from biting her nursemaids to throwing tantrums to breaking things. she’d only ever quieten under the guidance of one of her relatives, preferably father, at whose lap she’d turn pliant, playing with his rings and being gently jostled by his knees whenever he had the patience to keep her at his council chambers. at this point, she learns that by being sweet, she gets to retain more attention time, and so she begins speaking honeyed when she wants things, or to get out of things; she also lends her own attention to father, and indulges him with compliments and sweet kisses that her elder siblings have grown out of, by then. it is a dulcet beginning that would settle the base for her relationship with her father and sovereign — if he was horrible to others ( including to daemon and aegon at times, and to mother ), he wasn’t to her, and that mattered; she learned how to overlook his flaws, as long as he kept her pleased and spoiled rotten, which, for most part, he did ( and even when he didn’t, for a long time, aerea learned how to convince herself otherwise ).
if father is disarmed from his characteristic nastiness by her dazzling smiles, well - rehearsed cries or prompt pouts, she becomes almost everyone else’s terror child. with freedom granted by order of birth and indulgence by her elders, it seems there is little she can’t get away with, and she thoroughly takes advantage of that, whimful going through interests and people; she enjoys following her older siblings, drinking on their pastimes, and so she picks a little from each of them. daemon gives her first drink of unwatered wine, aegon lets her touch and tend to rhaellara, she shares all of saerya’s tutors and tries to emulate her grace, and rhaegar is her most constant companion ( also the one she allows beating her up with wooden swords when he is learning his arms and the twins doesn’t want to train with him ).
she is an avid learner, even if it doesn’t appear so at first sight, with her tantrums and low running patience but she is underhanded at it, listening and seeing and swallowing it, acting almost as if it isn’t there. it is a good trait for women, mistress dayne tells her, and aerea learns that while she enjoys attention, however it may come, if by scolding or otherwise, she rather likes praise too, and at times it is worthy to work for it. for most part, however, she much prefers to keep up the silly girl front, enjoying glittering things and rare treats and every other fanciful thing a most wealthy noblewoman is afforded.
at the age of one and twenty, some moons away from her name day, she receives a proposition — she would not call it anything but that, even if lucerys means less of an option and more of an imposition — from across the sea. lys, much as all of the free cities had always proved themselves enticing to her, and if she had been able to travel across westeros, essos was too far away. so the prospect of that is a calling, yet for a fortnight she remains opposed to a match so far away from everything that she’s known, from her family. in a stroke of patience — aerea would consider it fatherly affection — lucerys calls on her and announces that if the match was to receive an unfortunate ending ( may the gods not allow it so, and lucerys is certain it would not, as her husband - to - be was a strapping young lordling in his prime ), he’d allow her to do as she wished. the promise coming from someone she foolishly held in such esteem is enough for her to acquiesce to the match.
if she enjoys lys, she can not say the same for her husband. perhaps it is because her heart yearns for someone else, but although as she, for once, does her duty as she must, it is clear that aerea is more focused on other things than making it a joyous marriage. with her trousseau, she had brought a dragon egg of her own, that she had much longed to have hatched since she was a teenager, and, uninterested on actual children, she takes care of it instead. if her womb remains still for the year and something she remains married, the egg begins to quick and hatch around her three and twenty nameday. so entranced by her she - dragon, she pays even less attention to her husband, though she knows to feign big droplets of tears when the news is broken to her.
there is change in the red keep — or in her — when she returns home. not only has laena perished in a manner that few speak of, there seems to be a rush of something else she can not quite name. though she keeps her ears attentive to it all, she does not quite partake in much of the scheming — if she speaks fondly of house rogare, in - laws to her husband’s family back in lys, she is just talking for the sake of it, and she isn’t certain father pays any mind to it — instead keeping to her mourning and biding her time, much of it is spent falling back to her old routine of attending to her family and her whimful nature.
— TIDBITS
very energetic, she enjoys keeping herself moving and considers herself one of the most competent guides of king’s landing and the crownlands — is it true? i don’t know but don’t tell her otherwise.
she’s a poor singer but good enough with the flute. she enjoys music and theather and dance and all things merry.
besides exploring, gambling, dancing, riding, hunting, sailing and all sorts of things that require movement, she very much enjoys animals. besides spending time on the stables, has likely picked up strays and snuck them in the palace for years, and has only stopped doing so for the sake of the younger dragons, rhaegor, daenys and elaena, as she enjoys having them around and they can be even more of a menace than she is. she has always liked them — even the bigger ones, even when she begrudgingly kept away for her own safety — and to have one of her own has been a dream come true, and oftentimes she cares for elaena ( and daenys, when she allows her ) herself, feeding her from the hand, bringing her around perched on the princess and then following her around, with the occasional cough leaving the hems of her gowns and some people’s shoes scorched.
aerea favors shades of reds and purples: so her outfit usually goes from pinks to reds and maroons to purples and violets to black; she often sneaks in some white gowns as well, though they are all beautifully embroidered ( not by her ). for the past year, she has kept to black, for cerimonial’s sake only, but for the past moon, she has resumed colors and finds the lyseni bolder fashion rather appealing.
frankly, doesn’t like the word no or denial in general. as a child, this would cause her to explode in shrieking tantrums until she was indulged on, but as an adult, she’s learned to keep her temper barely contained, simmering under surface — it’s probably one of the reasons she’s not very attached to some of her material belongings, because she has a habit of taking it out on them, screaming and breaking and destroying things when she’s alone.
her love language is something between physical affection and gifts, and those she loves or seeks to endear herself to are often constant recipients of that. i pity the person in charge of her finances ( definitely not her ) because she’s always getting random lil treats to show affection — that when she’s not smacking her siblings’ arms or kissing their cheeks or holding hands with her ladies.
she’s learned how to fight with her brothers, but she holds no love for arms nor martial arts. she is a good shot, however, and often uses the crossbow for hunting though she just likes to throw things, really.
some of the most seasoned nursemaids used to joke that the targaryen couple started out with a horrible child, and ended it with another horrible child, and that is becoming of how aerea and daemon get along — between the twins, they are most alike than her and aegon, and while she may favor daemon ( and with her own history of a foreign, valyrian matrimony ), she is yet to choose a side. likewise, she is very fond of her sister - in - law daella, with the summerhall babies as the most lovely ones in the seven kingdoms ( and the only ones she enjoys ), so it only adds to the splitting mindset. ultimately, she knows she will choose whoever favors her and her whims the most, so she is keeping them both on her good side for now, hoping to reap the results later on.
— WANTED CONNECTIONS
people she’s met on essos : she spent a year and sumething around lys, and has also been to braavos ( or...wherevers closer. awoiaf i’m coming for you soon )
king’s landing regulars and non - regulars : she’s lived there her whole life so she knows enough people and places, and for those who don’t know, she’s more than happy to introduce them and hope they’ll fall in love with the city as much as she has.
friends, enemies, ex - lovers, allies, people interested or scared of her pink dragon, anything goes!

AU Targaryen: Best destinations for the children of Jaehaerys I & Alysanne (2/13)
Daenerys I (53 a. C.-125 a. C.) Queen of Seven Kingdoms
Daenerys Targaryen was the second daughter of Kings Jaehaerys I and Alysanne Targaryen. She was considered the closest to her mother with whom she spent her afternoons playing, studying and walking around the Red Keep. The princess had a good relationship with her older brother, Aegon and with her younger brothers who little by little came to the world.
In 59 a. C., she spread a disease known as chills rapidly affecting all of Westeros. The princess contracted that disease being a real pain for her and for her parents who feared for her possible death. King Jaehaerys looked for all the ways to make his daughter feel better, but he quickly demanded a dragon egg for his daughter, this one being as white as porcelain with a light blue beta in the center. Daenerys slept as she could day and night with that egg & it is known that her health improved little by little as the days passed by being almost a miracle due to the high mortality rate that was due to the plague.
Shortly after her egg was delivered to him, the White dragon was born, a creature with white scales and melon eyes. After her birth, little Daenerys began to recover even though her parents decided not to let her leave her rooms for fear of collapse. By the end of 60 a. C., the princess had already left her chambers showing herself as the happy, energetic and mischievous girl that she used to be.
After the plague ceased, the kings formalized the engagement between Daenerys and her older brother, Aegon in 62 a. C. Daenerys and her brother had a good relationship and it was thought that they could be similar to the same parents as hers. Three years later, the wedding of the princes took place, which made Daenerys the princess of Dragonstone and future queen of the Seven Kingdoms.
In 67 a. C., Daenerys rode her White dragon for the first time from the Capital to the Valley of Arryn with her mother Queen Alysanne & since then the princess developed a passion for flying.
After a couple of years of marriage, Aegon and Daenerys became parents in 71 a. C., of a girl, Alysanne who would be Lady of Brightwater Keep. The birth of her daughter was a great joy and she is described as a loving & caring mother. Two years later her second daughter was born, Daena, who would be her favorite and her husband's, even though this pregnancy disappointed many courtiers who were waiting for the arrival of a boy.
In 74 a. C., the expected son of her, Aegon, was born, but he died after two months being a painful death for Daenerys who spent three days mourning the death of her little one.
Two years after the death of her little Aegon of hers, a Maerys girl was born who would become Lady of Rock Casterly, but this birth was disappointing to the court. It took Daenerys two years to get pregnant again and this time she had a child, Aenar, who seemed to be in good health, this birth being very celebrated by all.
The couple's life changed suddenly when in 81 a. C., her little girl Daena died of tuberculosis shortly after having delivered her dragon egg. The death of the princess destroyed her entire family, especially her parents who did not get the idea of having lost her little girl. This event distanced the princes, but they quickly sought to reconcile and continue living a normal life, being born in 84 a. C., a boy named Daeron who would be Counselor of the Currency.
After a trip to Dorne to visit her little sister Saera, together with her parents they decided to commit the young Maerys to Lord Tymond Lannister, achieving alliances with the West after various tensions between the two Houses. A year later Daenerys gives birth to her last daughter, Shaera, who would marry Lord Arryn, son of Rodrik Arryn.
Her life remained quiet for ten years until 100 a. C., her mother Alysanne passed away, her death being very painful for her children and Westeros, but her father was broken when her great love died. Daenerys became the most important woman in the Capital and both she and her husband were in charge of the regency of the kingdom as her father was very ill and even hurt by the death of her wife.
Three years later her father died and the princes were crowned a few months after the death of her father. The couple was applauded and praised by the people who expected a lot from the children of the Conciliator and La Kindness. Daenerys was involved in the care of her children forever, but she also focused on her personal relationships and foreign politics. The queen founded a small women's association called "women's convent" where a group of noble or low-status women met in the queen's rooms dressed in some white garment to talk about all kinds of topics, especially intrigues & political problems. happening in the Seven Kingdoms.
In 108 a. C., was born his grandson, Aenys Targaryen, son of his heir Aenar Targaryen. This birth made the kings who had the succession assured very happy, but it is known that this tense closure added to the relations between Daenerys & Aegon with her daughter-in-law Jocasta Lannister who had a great desire for power. Four years after she passed away, her son, Aenar, supposedly from puerperal fever, and her death completely destroyed her, she had lost her "little dragon" and would never see him again.
The death of her son frightened her husband because if he died suddenly and her grandson was still a child, his mother could take the regency for her and it could be chaos. Aegon II in the end made the decision to declare his own wife as his heir, making him swear that when Prince Aenys reached the age of majority, she would retire from the throne & Daenerys accepted.
The next five years of her husband's reign were uneventful and Daenerys continued to meet with different women to be able to talk to what she was called "Politics" because of her great knowledge and the passion with which she had them. In 118 a. C., Aegon II passed away at the age of 65 and this death also hurt Daenerys since they had always been together through thick and thin. Following the funeral of her husband, Daenerys was crowned Daenerys I Targaryen, being the first queen regent in history.
After being crowned, one of her first decisions was to take her grandson away from her mother, Jocasta, and she was exiled shortly after her when she tried to kidnap her own son to force her mother-in-law. from her to leave the crown. Despite this great matter, Daenerys' reign was calm and without so many problems in between, focusing on acts of charity, giving Westeros a cultural growth and also focusing on caring for her grandson whom she loved as if he were her own. own son.
In 125 a. C., Daenerys I began to present various health problems having to stay in bed during the last days of her. In her agony, she was accompanied by Prince Aenys, whom she came to call by the name of her son, Aenar, thinking that he was reunited with her little one. After three months of illness, the queen she died that same year of heart problems at the age of 72, being cremated and her ashes were buried next to those of her husband.
Long before her death, she dictated a will where she declared Aenys, who was only 16 years old, to be of legal age and to marry her cousin, Saera Targaryen, who was the second daughter of Prince Valerion. In the end his conditions were approved and Aenys was crowned as Aenys II Targaryen, in addition to marrying her cousin who gave him five children including Daenerys who was named in honor of the queen.
Daenerys I (53 d. C.-125 d.

Princess Rhaelle Targaryen was the youngest child of King Aegon V Targaryen and Queen Betha Blackwood.
In 237 AC, Rhaelle's four elder siblings had been betrothed: Prince Duncan to the daughter of Lord Lyonel Baratheon, Prince Jaehaerys to Celia Tully, Princess Shaera to Luthor Tyrell, and Prince Daeron to Olenna Redwyne. It was Rhaelle's eldest brother, Duncan, who broke his betrothal first, by marrying Jenny of Oldstones in 239 AC. This greatly angered Lord Lyonel, who rebelled against his king. A trial by combat, and the word of King Aegon V ended Lord Lyonel's rebellion, with an end result a betrothal, of Rhaelle to Lord Lyonel's son and heir, Ormund Baratheon.
To seal the bargain, Rhaelle was sent to Storm's End, where she would serve as a cupbearer, and be a companion to Lord Lyonel's wife. In 245 AC, the promise of King Aegon V was fulfilled, and Rhaelle and Ormund were wed. Their son, Steffon, was born the next year.
Rhaelle's marriage to Ormund would eventually be part of the end of the rule of House Targaryen. Rhaelle's grandchildren through Steffon would be Robert, Stannis and Renly Baratheon. It would be young Lord Robert, who would eventually lead the rebellion against Rhaelle's nephew, King Aerys II Targaryen.
Thus, through Rhaelle, Robert Baratheon descended from King Aegon V Targaryen and thus had a blood claim to the Iron Throne, which the maesters used to justify the outcome to Robert's Rebellion.

Could Rhaegar Have Gotten An Annulment?
Follow up to “Could Rhaegar Have Two Wives?”
I was writing a reply to a comment on my fic (shameless self promo here), and decided to share it. Again.
We don't have a lot of information on annulment in Westeros. Robert presumably would have killed Cersei once Renly revealed the twincest, and out of all the Targaryens we know of, roughly 102 of them (source), only one ever set aside his wife.
That king’s name is Baelor, and this man locked his former wife in the Maidenvault along with his sisters to prevent them from tempting men at court. Why could he get an annulment?
"I said some words and gave her a red cloak, but only to please Father. Marriage requires consummation. King Baelor was made to wed his sister Daena, but they never lived as man and wife, and he put her aside as soon as he was crowned." ~AFFC Jaime IV
A second example of this is Sansa. Tywin thinks that Sansa could have her marriage set aside. Why does he think this?
She is old enough to be Lady of Winterfell once her brother is dead. Claim her maidenhood and you will be one step closer to claiming the north. Get her with child, and the prize is all but won. Do I need to remind you that a marriage that has not been consummated can be set aside?"
"By the High Septon or a Council of Faith. Our present High Septon is a trained seal who barks prettily on command. Moon Boy is more like to annul my marriage than he is." ~ASOS, Tyrion IV
A third example, Tommen and Margaery.
Jaime sighed. "Then let them wed. It will be years before Tommen is old enough to consummate the marriage. And until he does, the union can always be set aside. Give Tyrell his wedding and send him off to play at war." ~ AFFC, Jaime I
A fourth example, in the opposite direction, but particularly important in that involved the future king, and even it could not be set aside.
In 240 AC, a year after Prince Duncan's marriage, Prince Jaehaerys and Princess Shaera each eluded their guardians and were secretly married. Jaehaerys was fifteen and Shaera fourteen at the time of their wedding. By the time the king and queen learned what had happened, the marriage had already been consummated. Aegon felt he had no choice but to accept it. ~ AWOIAF
So if a marriage is consummated, then it cannot be set aside, and if a marriage isn’t consummated then it can be set aside.
Rhaegar and Elia clearly consummated the marriage, because they had two children.
There was no one, not Aerys whose granddaughter “smelled Dornish” or Tywin who wanted his daughter in Elia’s place, that claimed Aegon and Rhaenys were not Rhaegar’s children. Indeed, Rhaegar says that Aegon is "the prince who was promised" and says that "his is the song of ice and fire."
Argue for a moment that Rhaegar could claim that not only were the children not his, and he’d never touched Elia. He would have needed to find the "High Septon or a Council of Faith" to set aside the marriage. Rhaegar went from Dragonstone to the Riverlands to Dorne, and the High Septon is in Kings Landing.
Say he stopped by to get the marriage annulled before setting off? Well, another problem. The High Septon can say no.
"By the High Septon or a Council of Faith. Our present High Septon is a trained seal who barks prettily on command. Moon Boy is more like to annul my marriage than he is." ~ASOS, Tyrion IV
Tywin would simply have told the High Septon not to let Sansa have an annulment.
We also know that the High Septon can say no to the king.
Having been wed in 160 AC to his sister Daena, the king proceeded to convince the High Septon to dissolve the marriage. It was contracted before he was king, he argued, and had never been consummated. ~TWOIAF
Who was the king? Aerys. Not Rhaegar. I don’t see him being pleased about the High Septon setting aside a marriage that he had brokered, and Aerys’ wrath is well known. What High Septon wants to be burned alive?
This narrows it down to a few options:
1) Rhaegar claimed Elia's children weren't his and that he had never slept with Elia, and convinced the "High Septon or a Council of Faith" of this behind his father’s back and against the Mad King’s wishes.
2) Rhaegar never got an annulment.
We can argue about Rhaegar perhaps lying to Lyanna about being married, or both of them being on board with no marriage, but the end result is the same.
If you want to argue that they might have married under a weirwood in the sight of the old gods, I suggest you look to the marriage of Maegor the Cruel and Alys Harroway. Queen Visenya married them in a Valyrian ceremony, because the Faith refused to marry them.
Check out the prior post in this series to find out why that was a bad idea.

If Aegon decided to throw his hands up and act like a good king/grandfather and refuses to marry Aerys and Rhaella, so Mama Martell gets a Targ bride for Doran (since he is closet in age/status/etc). Does this change her marriage ideas for Elia or Oberyn? Expectations for grandbabies?
There’s a few different things at play here. The Princess of Dorne didn’t set out to marry into the royal family, she set out to marry Elia to Jaime. It was only when Joanna died, Tywin refused, and Steffon and Cassana Estermont died without finding a suitable Essosi bride for Rhaegar that she sought out that match, both because the crown prince was the highest prize in the land and to spite Tywin.
Additionally, we can see she wasn’t particularly interested in a high-profile Westerosi match for Doran, considering a) he married Mellario, who as a noble wasn’t nobody, but she was also a foreigner that didn’t bring any particular boons to the Martells, b) he didn’t marry until he was ~28, and c) we don’t hear of her even searching out anyone despite there being several women both available and of appropriate rank.
Thirdly, I don’t know that Aegon would agree to a match between Doran and Rhaella. His reign was already pretty unpopular with the lords, considering he kept putting forward/passing smallfolk reform at their expense, and because not only did his kids spurn their betrothals, not only did Jaehaerys and Shaera marry each other, but Aegon’s mother, grandmother, and great-uncle were all Dornish, and the realm had been at war with Blackfyre pretenders for generations which began in part because of the original anti-Dornish sentiment in Daeron II’s reign. Aegon likely would not have been inclined to press his luck by pushing another Targaryen-Dorne match through.
But for argument’s sake, we’ll assume Aegon and the Princess of Dorne do marry Doran to Rhaella. Grandchildren wouldn’t be an issue, presumably; Rhaella had something like 10 pregnancies, most of which went to term, and Doran obviously had his three kids in canon so neither of them is hurting in the fertility department. Dorne’s future would be presumably secure, and the Princess of Dorne would get bragging rights of having a royal princess for a daughter-in-law.
So would she still pursue a go-getter match for Elia (and potentially Oberyn)? Probably. Assuming Joanna still dies, the Princess of Dorne wouldn’t get a Jaime match but she also obviously wouldn’t get one with Rhaegar since Rhaegar wouldn’t exist. That still leaves the very desirable Baelor Hightower as a candidate, as well as someone further afield like Ned Stark or Elbert Arryn, both of whom were about Elia’s age. (Incidentally, a union of either of the latter candidates would put the Princess of Dorne squarely in the Southron Ambitions bloc, not to mention because of Doran’s marriage it would bring the crown along with it, so that would certainly be a selling point to either Rickard Stark or Jon Arryn if it came down to it.)
I think in this scenario a lot of it would come down to Elia’s opinion on it all. In canon, because Doran married Mellario, that left Elia as the prime — and, really, only — bargaining chip the Princess of Dorne had. Oberyn was rash and promiscuous even then, having already sired three bastards by that point, and it sounds to me like the betrothal trip was almost exclusively about Elia, not Oberyn. With AU Doran having already shored up a Targaryen spouse, if Elia requested to marry a man of her choosing, I could see her mother agreeing to it, if he were of appropriate birth. Both out of compassion but also because it would be wise to make sure her vassals are happy as well. They would have been peeved that none of their daughters had a chance at princess consort, but Elia’s hand would still be plenty advantageous for both vassal and liege.
The long and the short of it is, I’m pretty up in the air. I could see it going both ways. Potentially she would push Oberyn forward more and go after someone like Lysa, Janna/Mina Tyrell, Malora Hightower, Lyanna, etc., though given the aforementioned reputation and that Oberyn’s children would have virtually zero chance of inheriting anything (the title of prince or princess, yes, but not Sunspear), plus general racism, I don’t know how successful that would be.
No matter the scenario, though, Rhaella, Elia, and Oberyn all live long, happy lives, so I am 110% okay with that.

A-E for Shera and 30-34 for Ophelia?
Shaera
A & B: answered here
C: Did you have trouble figuring out where they fit in their own story?
It was a bit of a struggle. Shaera’s presence is a big game-changer, so figuring out exactly how she was going to fit in was a challenge. After all, it’s another contender for the throne. So it impacts a lot of the storyline. Also a Targaryen in Westeros before Daenerys certainly means a lot of alliances would form differently.
D: Have they always had the same physical appearance, or have you had to edit how they look?
Initially, in the early stages, I planned for Shaera to have the silver-blonde hair and violet eyes of her Targaryen father. However I then thought it’d be more interesting to have her appear more Dornish, so therefore she and Aegon don’t look related necessarily and could go under the radar more easily.
E: Are they someone you would get along with? Would they get along with you?
I like to think we would get along. She’s a passionate and emotional person, and I think we have that in common. She’s definitely led by her heart, and I think she cares deeply about other people. I certainly think we would have some common ground.
Ophelia
30. Who do they most regret meeting?
Brock Rumlow. He has a very negative and ultimately traumatic impact on her life, but that’s spoiler territory ;)
31. Who are they the most glad to have met?
I would have to say Steve Rogers. His influence helps Ophelia change for the better, and she learns what it’s like to have a healthy and loving relationship with him.
32. Do they have a go-to story in conversation? Or a joke?
I think it depends on the situation, but usually it’d be a detailed account of one of her criminal exploits.
33. Could they be considered lazy?
Definitely not. Whether it be in the criminal underworld or as she learns to become an Avenger, Ophelia has always had a good work ethic and is very hard-working.
34. How hard is it for them to shake a sense of guilt?
Very difficult. Ophelia often blames herself for a lot of things that weren’t necessarily entirely her fault, and it’s hard for her to let go of that feeling.

– The steps of the Red Keep were as familiar to Shaera as the sands of Driftmark, the winding stairwells and hidden corridors having become second nature to her. It was easy to make her way to the battlements without being seen, a stolen flagon of wine and her companion in tow.
She did not intend to drink the wine, however. Instead, her target was a group of visiting septons, squawking in the courtyard below like chattering geese. She passed the flagon to Visenya, a grin on her face.
“Princesses first.”

@blossomhcir // sc
It wasn't hard finding Adelaide. Though the gardens of the Red Keep were large, Shaera knew exactly where to look. It didn't take her long until she spotted the other, secluded off by herself as always.
"I hear you're being courted by a Beesbury," she said as she took a seat across from her at the small table beneath an even smaller gazebo. Matchmaking had never been one of her strong suits and indeed she ignored it now even for her own daughters. She had grown fond of Adelaide however, and the last thing she wanted was to see potential be squandered.
"Which one?"

@daerias // 💋 from maekar to shaera
Tumblr media
The night was warm, the pale light of the moon reflecting off the waves below. A soft summer breeze carried the sound of the sea onto the beach, the gentle tide pushing and pulling the sands of the beach with each return to the shore.
His skin smelled of smoke (for even if the dragons are dead, he is a targaryen- fire was their blood) and iron, a knight in every fashion. But his skin was soft, like silk, betraying the prince beneath the warrior's suit, and his lips were softer still.
The kiss did not linger. It did not need to, was not meant to.
"Go home, Maekar. "

@khalesci asked: “you did all you could.”
Had she? Had she truly? If she had really wanted to, she could have turned back. She had the coin and the respect of a few of Drogo's former khalasar, the riders who did not stay with the Silver Queen. She could have abandoned this silly plot and left Daenerys to her fate while she and her family returned to Pentos.
Instead Shaera had chosen to follow the Targaryen girl, and now her husband lay dead and her youngest on the brink of joining him.
"I grow weary of funeral pyres, Khaleesi."

@dcviline: you are your own person, you make your own choices. (rhaella @ shaera)
Silver brows knitted together in a mix of confusion and frustration. Despite what appeared on the surface, Shaera had spent most of her life living for her House, and subsequently, her House's connection to the ruling Targaryens. All (or rather, almost all) of of her decisions had been made for the sake of House Velaryon's future, a task given to her not only by her father but by her aunt as well. And now the one person her aunt told her to trust above all else was telling her something different.
"How do i know if I've made the wrong choice?"

good to see your shining face. (alysanne for shaera <3)
revolutionary road (2008) starters -- still accepting -- @zobrizys
A cheek pressed itself into Alysanne's hand, smiling at the warmth of the palm on her skin. A fever had taken Shaera's own mother shortly after her birth (the midwives whispered of the curse that plagued Velaryon women.), leaving her in the care of wet nurses and governesses.
Yet as soon as she learned to walk, she took to side of Queen Alysanne. If she wasn't with Visenya or Daemon, she was sat at the queen's knee, regaling her with the fantastic (and imaginary) adventures aboard her future ship.
Now that she was older, she still found herself fond of the queen's company, visiting her chambers as often as she was granted an audience.
"Sweet Mother, I've missed you."
