Jewelry chest of Sithathoryunet 𓉡𓅭𓏏𓉺𓏌𓏏 “ḥw.t-ḥr s3.t iwn.t” Because the original wood 𓇋𓅓𓏲𓆭𓏫 “ı͗mw” of Sithathoryunet’s boxes had decayed, they were reconstructed in the Metropolitan Museum based on the detailed notes of the excavator Guy Brunton. The gold 𓋞 “nbw” djed pillars 𓊽𓊽𓊽 “ḏ.w” on the sides are symbols of the funerary god 𓊹 “nṯr” Osiris 𓊨𓁹 or 𓁹𓊩 “wsir” as well as the word for ‘stability’. The emblems on the lid belong to Hathor 𓉡 “ḥw.t-ḥr” ‘The Temple of Horus’, the goddess of beauty 𓄤𓄤𓄤 “nfr.w”, making them appropriate symbols for a cosmetic box. Magical Water Jar of Sithathoryunet 𓉡𓅭𓏏𓉺𓏌𓏏 with Lid This highly sculptural image 𓏏𓅱𓏏𓀾𓏪 “twt”of a vessel 𓎿𓋴𓏲𓏊 “ḥstw” resembles the much smaller metal ewers with spouts that Egyptians 𓂋𓐝𓎀𓀂𓀭𓏪 “rmṯ” used—together with matching basins—for washing their hands 𓂧𓏏𓏭 “dr.twy” before meals and pouring libations 𓇋𓃀𓅱𓈗 “ı͗bḥw” for deities 𓊹𓊹𓊹 “nṯrw” and the dead 𓅓𓏏𓀐 “m(w)t”.
