7/17/23 starting a tradition with myself to make July be my yearly reset. In January I’ll be celebrating the darkness and I’ll trust that it’s definitely not the time for me to gain clarity about my life intentions. I’ll let myself be heavy and less productive since the days are so short. Then when the summer comes I’ll do what I’ve always done. I’ll eat watermelon, detox my system, hang out with friends and we’ll share about our dreams, and during the long summer days when I spend hours hiking up mountains and floating down streams I’ll gain the clarity I need to make plans and set resolutions. I’m gonna go now and make an alter and an offering. And journal about all my dreams

White-tailed Kites - The Ritual by Zed Via Flickr: The ritual went on for almost twenty minutes. The mated pair had returned to the site of last year's nest and resumed their annual courting ritual in dramatic fashion. I watched in stunned silence while the Kites soared with feet outstretched, circling each other, occasionally locking talons and spinning into a free fall, all the while chirping and crackling like objects being thrown into an electrified fence. It was gloomy and overcast that day and I had to shoot fast to freeze the action, but I felt fortunate to witness such a strange, magnificent ritual and did my best to capture a few frames without disturbing their interactions.

Let’s not talk about how many failed attempts, culled shots, and gasoline have been burned in the effort but I’ve wanted a truly nice shot of western grebes doing their mating rush for a long while. I’ve seen it thousands of times while walking the lake shore, fishing, etc, but those critters sure have a knack for doing it where the light isn’t right, out of range of your lens, and all manner of times and places where it’s impossible to get a photo. A few days ago I got a shot with them running away from the camera which nicely conveys the wake they leave behind. I caught these two fairly close and running broadside to me and some very nice light as I was sitting fairly low on a rock and I’m quite pleased with the resulting image which nicely shows how high on the water they get and just how much they churn up the surface. These birds clearly didn’t read the nearby buoy saying it was a 5mph “no wake” zone!

I just need everyone to know before I start posting anything for my other long-form Eddie fic.

Ritual 777 is a fic for me to share my love of the supernatural and secret societies and feminism. There is consuming of humans and murder but make it girlboss. I get to talk about my niche obsession with fucking weird ass people like Madame Blavatsky. Or my love for women modern artists, like Lynda Benglis, who I did a project on for school (we had to make a physical book for our favorite artist, maybe I’ll post photos of it some time), and literally had a little peep window in the book for this (nsfw) ad she had to get people to come to her show. This is about her advertising in that time period and 100% worth the read.

Dani California is a fic where I am processing and translating my trauma into a very, very intense fic. It feels casual in places as I read what I have wrote so far. But because the damn sort of burst in my emotional barriers a few weeks ago in therapy, I have created this to basically process it with an OC that has a life different than mine and a world different than mine so I can place some of my experiences and trauma onto her to better understand them. I’m still going to share it because I want to. But I know, just know, I am going to get shit for just how casual some of the horrifying shit is. Or how it seems to be glorifying some things. Or how some of the reactions from in universe characters seems incorrect. It’s literally my therapy piece I started after having several emotional walls broken into and several horryfing realizations about the reality of my mental health. It will be a reminder at the top of every chapter.

Unwrapping the Egyptian 'Book of the Dead' at Getty Museum

I recently went to one of my favorite museums, The Getty Villa. The Getty Villa is an art museum located on the Malibu coast of California. What is so unique about The Getty Villa is has vast collections of Greek and Roman antiquities.

If you are a Mummy trilogy movie fan you know the phrase: No! You must not read from the book! The Mummy (1999) Adventure A statement and action that unleased the horrors of the powerful mummy priest. The reason I probably shouldn't be allowed to make movies is I have no impulse control and I would immediately make something called Revenge Of The Dead Tranny Hooker. It would be about a trans woman trying to break into acting, but no one wants to hire her for anything except playing a sex worker who gets murdered. Then one day she does an open casting call which runs her through a series of increasingly bizarre line readings, which it turns out are meant to summon an eldritch demon to grant the movie producer god-like powers.

The culmination is supposed to be sex on the casting couch, but she ditches at the last minute, destroying the ritual and splintering the extradimensional entity across California. She unknowingly receives powerful extradimensional blood, while the rest of the fragments seek out the powerful and violent people of the world. Meanwhile the movie producer uses his new powers to transform his PAs into henchcreatures, and sends them after the protag to finish her off. She discovers her new powers in the ensuing fight, which also seem to be gradually altering her body every time she uses them.

The rest of the movie is a steadily escalating game of cat and mouse between trans woman and movie producer. While the former transformers the fragments into powerful psychic weapons like chainsaws and spiked bats, the later uses fragments to make himself bigger and physically stronger. At first the fights are short and brutal, the protag outmatched and outgunned, but she gets more confident to the point of an anarchic battle of against the LAPD led by a demonic police captain, including a scene where she stands on the roof of a speeding police car and rips the driver through the windshield.

Her eventual form is some kind hyper sexual draconic mantid squid rippling with biomechanoid components. In the fight with the producer he thinks he's winning by tearing apart the last of her human flesh, but this just complete her transformation, letting her easily overwhelm him. It's implied from that point forward she plans to conquer the world.
