Rahime Perestu Valide Sultan would wear one during formal occasions: “atop her hennaed hair a calpac-shaped hotoz worked in the most exquisite lace-like embroidery, and wearing the emerald pin called the Valide Tacı [Mother’s Crown], which she flanked with the two emerald pins from the same set.”

Back to Women’s Basketball, the girls have had a rough season playing many nationally ranked teams to help them prepare for the conference season in the CalPac. The rough season didn’t stop this week either the Redhawks taking 3 hard losses. First, on Saturday, November 16th when they faced Oregon Tech. The Lady Redhawks battled hard and came out with the right mentality and energy but unfortunately went down 65-71. Simpson fought and deserved to win just as much as Oregon Tech but the referees made some detrimental calls in the fourth quarter putting Simpson on the back foot resulting in another loss. The following Tuesday Simpson played their rival team William Jessup at the White Out held at the Redding Grant Centre. Then the Redhawks Travelled the deepest into Oregon they have this year for this week's game against Corban University where they went down 68-81. The Redhawks put these games behind them and are preparing for Northwest Christian, who in the 2018-19 season they were able to beat in overtime by 3 on their home court.
