Cine: Wild Tigers I Have Known (2006)

En un lugar no determinado, aunque es muy probable que se trate de un pueblito estadounidense, la caza de un puma que se ha adentrado en la zona despierta la curiosidad pública, aunque al pequeño de trece años, Logan (Malcolm Stumpf) parece importarle más la compañía de Rodeo (Patrick White), un muchacho algo mayor que dice saber dónde se esconden tan peligrosos animales.

Narrada con retazos de imágenes, sensaciones y pensamientos, la historia retrata el camino de autorreconocimiento de un joven enamorado en un ambiente en el que no sólo debe cuidarse de las bestias que pululan por ahí: las habladurías de sus compañeros ya lo han etiquetado como “maricón” y el acoso ha acabado ya en golpiza. Hijo único de una madre ¿soltera? ¿viuda? (Fairuza Balk), su relación con Rodeo evoluciona hasta concitar un inimaginable juego de seducción cuyas consecuencias serán imprevistas.

Escrita, producida y dirigida por Cam Archer, esta peculiar cinta, filmada en Santa Cruz (California), cuenta con otros dos pesos pesados tras las cámaras: el director Gus Van Sant (”Mi mundo privado”, “My Own Private Idaho”, 1991) y el productor Scott Rudin (”Red social”, de 2011, y “The Truman Show”, de 1998, son sólo dos ejemplos de una carrera cuantiosa en éxitos, calidad y premios).
