Miraculous AU - Chapter 26 - Aftermath

Alix appeared in her room with Ladybug and Chat. She handed Chat the camembert and pushed Ladybug out of the room.

“You should be good in here. Just mind the mess.” Alix left and joined Ladybug. “Hey, Kim! Where are you?”

“Kim?” Ladybug asked.

“Usual place, Alix!” Kim called back.

Alix led Ladybug down the hall into Kim’s room. Kim sat on his bed with Ondine while Max sat in a nearby chair. They looked to be having a study session.

Max looked at Ladybug. “It’s been a while, Marinette. How’ve you been?”

“Wait, Marinette?” Kim yelled.

“I’m confused. What’s going on?” Ondine asked.

Ladybug sighed. “Tikki, spots off.”

Tikki emerged from the earrings and transformed Ladybug back. Max and Kim raised a brow at the gown, but Ondine squealed.

“Where’d you get that? It’s gorgeous!” Ondine jumped from her spot over to Marinette.

“She got it from a little sorcerer that attacked the city with a dragon,” Alix answered.

“Wait. There was another attack?” Max asked.

“Yup. Saw the beast burst from a building. Chloe and I were there to initially stop the boy from turning Paris into his own kingdom.”

“Alix. Can you please have some respect for our hero and civilian identities? Not all of us are as brazen as you,” Marinette said. She placed Tikki on the desk with the cookies.

Alix sat in an open desk chair. “What do you mean? I put Chat in my room, didn’t I? Isn’t that form of respect? Besides, we’re all among friends, so who really cares?”

Marinette sighed. “Fair point.”

“So, Marinette, is that one your kwami?” Kim pointed to Tikki.

“Alix, have much have you told them?”

“Hold up. Kaalki, dismount.”

Kaalki appeared from the googles and transformed Alix. Alix pushed the googles atop her head. She pulled the bag of carrots from her pocket.

“If you yell at me, you yell at both of us. We both shared information with Kim and Max. Now Ondine gets to hear about this. Assuming Kim didn’t say anything yet.”

Ondine approached Tikki, eyes wide with wonder. “He tried explaining it, but I didn’t quite get it. Well, until now. So, you’re a kwami thing? You grant powers?”

Tikki scooted away. “Yes, to both.”

“And they’re more out there?”

“Of course there are,” Kaalki answered.

“Would I be able to have one?”

“Well, I don’t get to decide that. You’ll just have to hope that a kwami chooses you,” Tikki answered.

Kaalki snickered. “They may not need to wait long.”

Marinette looked at Kaalki. “What does that mean?”

Kaalki inhaled a carrot. “Do you want to tell them what you’ve been doing, Bug?”

Tikki chuckled nervously. “So, you know we’re looking for the snake. And Fang and the others have been hunting for him. Fluff has even tried communication with him, but no one has had any luck. So, I might have… sent a sort of… message… to attract him.”

“An invitation of sorts. Hard to miss that. No kwami would have. Now all kwamis know where she and her cat are. Because wherever the bug goes, the cat is always close at hand. So, we’ll have more kwamis show up. Even the mean ones.”

“Mean ones?” Marinette asked.

“They’re not mean, just questionable,” Tikki corrected.

“See, you have the kwamis like your darling Bug and my Fluff that are the ‘good.’ But you have kwamis like me and the black cat that are the ‘bad.’ So, kwamis like the rooster of animosity, the spider of betrayal, the fox of deception, to name a few. All of those will now be coming here. You just better hope luck is on your side, Marinette.”

“Because they might side with our enemy, right?”

Kaalki nodded.

Max raised his hand. “Excuse me, but what does it take exactly to gain a kwamis favor?”

“That really just depends. Typically, we are drawn to traits that mirror our own. For example, I picked Alix because of her rebellious nature and because she’s friends with the Ladybug holder.”

“What about friends of my friends? Would they be a draw to kwamis?” Marinette asked.

“I don’t see why not.”

Marinette hummed. “Kaalki, Tikki. Can one or both of you get Chat? He should be here for this.”

Tikki jumped up. “I will!”

Tikki vanished into the walls. She made her way into Alix’s room. She stifled a giggle when she saw Plagg. She slipped into the Unseen and crept closer to surprise him. She paused when she tuned into their conversation.

“C’mon, Adrien, it’s not so bad. Isn’t this what you wanted? To develop connections and all that nonsense?”

“It is. I just… don’t know. This all feels so strange and alien to me. I don’t hate it, but it just confuses me. And she knows not because I told her, but because of some unfortunate circumstances.”

“I don’t see what the problem is. At least she knows, right? And with her being able to wake you up meant she must love you too. It’s perfect.”

“I… guess. But what do I do? How do I do any of this? Why is this so complicated?”

“Relax, Adrien. Worrying about it won’t help. It’ll only stress you out. It’s not even that complicated.”

Tikki sighed. She flew up in front of Adrien, then materialized.

Adrien’s eyes widened. “You’re Ladybug’s-!”

“I am. And I apologize for my eavesdropping, Chat, but it isn’t complicated at all. Love will always start strange and foreign, but it will grow to be familiar and inviting. You need only take things one step at a time. You’re both going to make mistakes along the way, you’ll both stumble and trip, but that’s ok. If you are both willing, you can make something wonderful. All it takes is one foot in front of the other. One step at a time.”

“What if it fails? What if I end up hurt like Louve or Nathalie?”

“Then you’ll always have the memories. If they became good or bad memories will fall on you. But I hope in the end, they’ll be good memories.”

“I see. Thank you. But what are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be with Ladybug?”

“Oh, yes! She wishes to see you. They are discussing something that you’re needed for.”

“Got it. Plagg-.”

“Wait!” Plagg yelled.

“Plagg?”

Plagg inhaled the last piece of camembert and flew up. He tackled Tikki in a hug. They clung to each other as they tumbled around in the air. Adrien watched as they laughed and cried while in a loving embrace. They paused and Plagg moved away. He looked at Adrien, then back at Tikki. He pressed his forehead to Tikki’s and a word passed between them: Soon. Tikki placed her hands on her chest and shed a final tear. She nuzzled Plagg, then disappeared into the walls.

Plagg approached Adrien. “I’m ready.”

“What was that?”

“A new promise to Sugarcube.”

“Plagg, are we keeping you two apart? Should I-?”

“Don’t worry about that, Adrien. We made our choices, and they are our burdens to bear. Not yours and Marinette’s.”

“But-!”

Plagg sighed. “Look, unless it involves Papillon, then you don’t need to worry about it. Got it?”

“If you say so.”

“I do. Now, let’s go.”

Adrien nodded. “Plagg, claws out.”

Plagg disappeared into the ring and transformed Adrien.

Chat headed out of the room. He looked around, unsure where to go. He caught sight of Tikki and Khaalki hanging in a doorway down the hall. He approached them and entered the room. He looked over the others in the room as his eyes fell on Marinette. He blushed and gawked at her in the pink ballgown.

Ondine noticed and giggled. “Isn’t she beautiful?”

Marinette waved off Ondine and approached Chat. “I still think this would suit you better, Sleeping Kitty.”

Chat smirked. “Of course, it’d suit me. I make everything look good.”

Ondine grinned. “Do it!”

Chat blinked. “Wait, what?”

“Wear the dress. If you really think you can pull it off.”

Chat put his hands up. “I don’t think we’re the same size.”

“Can’t we modify our suits into whatever we want?” Alix asked.

“Yes,” Marinette said.

“Wait, we can?” Chat asked.

“Kaalki, full gallop.”

Kaalki disappeared into the googles. Alix’s outfits transformed into a short brown and white dress with white leggings and roller blades.

“Aww, Alix! You’re adorable!” Marinette and Ondine said together.

Alix snorted. “It’s just a dress.”

Kim laughed. “Dresses don’t suit you, at all.”

Alix growled and stood. “Oh yeah? Ever been beaten up by a girl in a dress?”

“Well, there was this one time-.”

Alix jumped Kim. Ondine shrieked and chanted as Alix and Kim tumbled about. Marinette moved next to Chat at the door. Max joined them and shook his head.

“Is this normal?” Chat asked.

“Yes,” Max and Marinette said together.

“Anyway, we wanted to let you know that more kwamis will be showing up. Tikki attempted to reach out to the snake, but in doing so, she may have tipped off every kwami where they’re at.”

“Is that bad?”

“Possibly. It could mean that some holders may side with our enemy.”

Chat gasped. “What? Why would they do that?”

“Kaalki explained that not all kwamis are the same and hinted that some are more ‘questionable.’ This came along with examples of betrayal, deception, and animosity. And since kwamis tend to pick holders based on the kwamis concept, that could mean those such kwamis will choose more nefarious individuals,” Max explained.

Chat’s ears flicked. “But wouldn’t my kwami be like those being destruction? And I’m not bad or destructive. Surely they wouldn’t just choose people that are bad, right?”

Tikki joined them. “Chat, know this, we are tools. Once bound, we are just a means to an end. That end depends on you guys. Some people may be unchanged by the powers, but others will be. Even if the powers are inherently seen as good, they can be twisted and used maliciously. It all falls on you guys.”

“Has creation ever been used for evil?” Marinette asked.

“At one point or another, we’ve all been used for foul purposes. Some kwamis tend to fall into those patterns more, and those are the ones we need to really look out for.”

“What should we do about the other kwamis?” Max asked.

“I will do my part to direct them to you guys, Marinette’s friends. Chat, can you have Plagg do the same?”

Chat scratched the back of his head. “I don’t really have any other friends aside from Marinette’s friends and Chloe.”

“That’s ok. If Plagg sees any kwamis, can you have him send them to me?”

Chat nodded.

“Good. Max, I’m trusting you and Alya with this. Can you ensure your and Marinette’s friends know to look out for animals watching them. We’ll usually approach you guys first as our chosen animals with a few exceptions.”

“I’ll see what I can do, but if you have Alya doing this, she’ll beat me to it.”

Tikki shrugged. “Whichever is faster. Just try to keep in under the table. We still don’t know what the butterfly holder wants, so just be careful.”

“Understood.”

Kim yelled, drawing their attention. “No fair! Fuck, dammit! Uncle!”

Alix released Kim.

“I call for a rematch! One on one, no powers.”

“Yeah! Kick his ass again, Alix!” Ondine cheered.

“Betrayal!”

“Sorry, babe. Alix is a better fighter than you.”

Alix rolled her eyes. “You’re on, bitch. Let me just do something.”

Alix rolled over to Marinette and Chat. She used Voyage and teleported them to the park. She moved away and disappeared with Voyage. Marinette looked around. Luka was back at his spot with Juleka next to him. Juleka sat with her arms crossed with an annoyed expression. Rose sat curled up against Juleka. Kagami remained where she sat, as did Marc and Nathaniel. In the middle of the space between the fountain and a nearby bench, Alya laid sprawled out with Fang, who shifted into a wolf that was the size of a dire wolf. Alya was still a wolf beast from the fight earlier.

Marinette approached Alya. “Hey, how are you doing?”

Alya sat up. “Could be worse.”

“You’re taking it rather well,” Chat remarked.

“What else can I do? I’m essentially stuck like this until, as Rose puts it, someone can learn to love a beast.”

“Well, maybe if the snake-,” Marinette started.

Alya rolled her eyes. “Sure. We’ve waited for a few weeks now, right? Something like that at least. What’s a few more?”

“Face it, Marinette. The scaly bastard isn’t showing up,” Juleka added.

“He might.”

“Even if he does, I’m not pinning my hope on him,” Alya said.

“There’s no point anyway,” Juleka muttered.

“Juleka?” Rose asked.

Juleka looked back at Luka, then at Rose. She pointed to herself, then at Rose. She held up two fingers and bent them a little. She balled her hand into a fist with her thumb up and pointed towards the exit. Rose pondered the message, then smiled.

“Fluff, hop to it.”

Fluff disappeared into Rose’s earrings and transformed Rose.

Lapine grinned. She scooped Juleka up and leapt away before Luka noticed. Luka blinked and looked up as Lapine and Juleka disappeared past some buildings.

“Are you kidding me?” Luka yelled.

“Calm down, Luka. Can you really blame her?” Chat asked.

Luka glared at Chat. “Shut it. If I wanted your input, I would have asked for it. Not that I would have wanted it anyway.”

“Ladies, don’t fight,” Alya said.

“Screw this. I’m going home. I’ve had enough for today.” Luka packed up his guitar and left.

Kagami looked up at Luka. “What’s his prob-.” She fell silent when she turned and saw Marinette. “Woah. Where’d the dress come from?”

Marc and Nathaniel looked up. Marc gawked and Nathaniel’s face flushed.

“Oh, y’know, the little boy made it for me with magic he got from the akuma.”

“It looks good on you,” Kagami said.

Marinette smiled and bowed. “Thank you.”

Kagami smiled. She stood and approached Marinette. “I have to get going, but could I get your number? I’d like to stay in contact with you and some of your friends.”

Alya’s ears perked up and she jumped to her feet. “Ah yeah! More girls for the girl chat.”

“Alya, no. Don’t scare her away.”

“Nothing scares me,” Kagami said.

“I like this one. Let’s get those digits, girl,” Alya said.

Kagami nodded. She gave her number to Marinette and Alya, then left. They watched her leave when the heard a cat meowing. They looked at Chat.

Chat chuckled nervously, then reached into his boot and took out his phone. “I need to take this.” He stepped away.

“Y’know, it doesn’t surprise me that’d be his ringtone,” Alya remarked.

“Leave him be. It’s cute.”

“You would say that.”

Marinette glared at Alya, who just smiled.

Nathaniel approached the girls. “Hey, Marinette? You wouldn’t mind if I get a picture of you in that gown. The whole thing with the dragon has inspired me and I think this gown would be perfect.”

“Of course.”

Marinette posed for Nathaniel. He took a few pictures, then gave a thumbs up. Chat had joined them again when Nathaniel finished.

“Hey, I need to go. Nathalie just told me my father wishes to speak with me after my ‘piano lessons.’”

“Is Kitty in trouble?” Alya asked.

Chat shrugged. “Might as well be. From my understanding, he doesn’t approve what I want for my birthday.”

“It’s your birthday soon?”

“Well, soonish. It’s still another three weeks away.”

Marinette gasped. “We should throw you a party. All of us!”

“Hell yeah! What do you think, Kitty?”

“I appreciate it, but if he doesn’t approve of what I want, it may not be possible.”

“Well, what did you want?” Marinette asked.

“Just a day without anything. A day of nothing. But I’ll probably not get it. He’ll likely have me think of something else.”

“No way! Fight for it, Kitty,” Alya said.

“Yeah! You do so much for your father, it’s the least he can do for you,” Marinette added.

Chat gave a harsh laugh. “I don’t think I have it in me to fight him.”

- “Kitty, if you can fight monsters, you can fight your father. Just stand your ground. Don’t budge even a little.”

“We believe you can do this, Chat. You just need to fight for it.”

“I’ll have to see. Just, don’t get your hopes up.”

Chat waved good-bye and ran off.

Alya turned to Marinette. “So, what do you say we head off? I can drop you off, in style.”

“What do you mean by that?”

“Fang, show her.”

Fang stretched and stood. She trotted over to them. She grew in size until she resembled the canine mounts from Incarnate.

Marinette’s eyes widened. “Is this for real?”

“Hell yeah it is! Isn’t it cool? I showed off some of my mounts to Fang and she said she could do that and has before.”

“We shouldn’t. People will see.”

“Girl, they already see. Besides, what does it matter when there was a dragon flying around and this face.” Alya pointed to herself.

“Can’t you just transform and take me home?”

“I could, but this more fun. C’mon, let’s have some fun. Right, Fang?”

Fang howled.

“Well, ok! Let’s go.”

Alya and Fang helped Marinette up onto Fang’s back. Alya hopped up next once Marinette was situated.

“Hold up!” Marc yelled. He ran up and stood in front of them. “I have to get a picture of this. This is like something you see at conventions!”

“Y’know, it could be fun going to a convention like this,” Alya remarked.

“Please don’t give her ideas.”

Marc shied away. “Sorry. Uh, may I?”

“Of course, but you have to send it to us later, ok?” Marinette said.

“Absolutely. Smile!”

Marc took a few photos. A few onlookers paused and took photos of Alya and Marinette. Once Marc finished, Alya reached down and grabbed Fang’s fur.

“Hold on, Beauty.”

Marinette grinned and wrapped her arms around Alya. “On your word, Beast.”

The girls shared a laugh. Alya nudged Fang. Fang howled and broke into a gallop. Marc waved them off. He ran back to the fountain and grabbed his stuff. He paused and saw Marinette’s sketchbook and took it.

“I’ll see you later, Nathaniel.”

“You’re not staying?”

“Sorry. I’ve got to get home. Can’t let the muse get away. Talk to you later.”

Marc ran out and far enough that he was out of Nathaniel’s eye. He paused and looked back. He saw Nathaniel sit for a moment before he moved. The way Nathaniel moved was as if he looked for something.

Marc sighed and continued to his home. Once home, he ran to his room and shut the door. He pushed Marinette’s sketchbook aside and opened his notebook. He went through his notes for the day.

Nathaniel was fine until Chat showed up. It was a little off putting seeing how often Nathaniel looked at Marinette. Juleka was her usual stoic self, until it came to Luka. It was hard to miss the pain and anger in Juleka’s face when she stole a glance at him. Luka was so different. His usual calm, inviting demeanor was harsh, jagged, and unsettling. Luka’s gaze rarely left Juleka unless it was to glare daggers at Chat. Chat himself seemed oblivious to the resentment directed towards him, or just willingly ignored it. Though Chat’s attention was more on helping Juleka and Marinette. Marinette was Marinette just as Rose was Rose. That Kagami girl was as difficult to read as Alya could be. The only notable emotions came when Kagami stole glances at Chat and saw Marinette in the dress. Even then, he couldn’t discern what it was.

Marc sighed and sat in his desk chair. Out of everything, it was clear something was wrong with Nathaniel and Luka. What’s more, Alya knew. That grimace when he told her about Nathaniel was telling. He considered the possibilities. The one that stood out to him was this being connected to the recent monster attacks. Could the sudden shifts in behavior be a sign? Both Luka and Nathaniel were fixated on very specific things that almost seemed to consume them. Could that be it? An obsession and you transform into a monster? If so, what kind of obsession? Did it have to be a person, or could it be anything? He needed more facts before he could probably draw conclusions.

Marc reached for his phone. He opened his messages with Alya and considered what he’d do. He wanted to help, but what could he really do? He didn’t have a kwami thing like Alya, Juleka, Rose, or Chat. He couldn’t fight monsters in the way they could. However, he might be able to help in a smaller way, right? He inhaled and sent Alya the picture of her and Marinette on Fang. He added: I know something is amidst. I’m here to help if you need me. He waited for a moment before Alya messaged back.

Thank you. I’m going to need people like you and Juleka.

Marc smiled. He wasn’t sure what Alya could need him for, but it didn’t matter. Something was going on and his friends were in trouble. He’d help them in any way possible.

A lynx sat in the shadows of the Unseen. It watched the boy as he pulled out a laptop and wrote. It had considered passing him up, looking for someone else. However, something about him intrigued it. Despite the fear, which felt more suited for the bat, that was a spark in him. That of creation, wonderful for the ladybug, but also honesty. A truth to himself and his passions. That in spite of fear, he boldly pursued.

The lynx curled up and kept its gaze on the boy. It would observe and see for sure if this was best. Now was the time before the fox showed up.

Fortune cookie fox

Inspired by the Sabrina The Teenage Witch book. The character in this book is not human, but an ancient immortal, and thus some of her actions may seem questionable.

In Asia, a fox spirit had heard of the reappearance of the ancient temple after some excitement at Paris.

Curious, the fox decided to look into the matter. Oh the battles were such a laugh. This Hawkmoth had no fashion sense! Though one look at his mask would tell anyone that. And his choice of akumas reduced her to giggles.

A so-called supervillain actually recruits a baby, a Pigeon-lover, a spoilt brat, and someone who blows bubbles into his army? What a joke. They should come visit China, or Japan or Korea. The fox spirit knew of some terrifying monsters that could make Hawkmoth as frail as the real animal.

The fox nodded in recognition of Trixx’s holder. And her first illusion certainly was impressive. Shame there wasn’t another amusement park in the world.

The laughter died on her lips though, when she read about Volpina.

Granted there was nothing wrong with her costume, but what was infuriating was that it was over a failed romance mission or whatever. Fox spirits were notorious for romancing men. The fact that this akuma was using foxes as her motif and still repelling her target was kind of embarrassing for foxes, especially since she wasn’t a real fox to begin with.

Doing some further digging, the fox was appalled that this Lila was such an atrocious liar. Ok, the fact that she seemed to have fooled pretty much everyone was credible. The fox spirit honestly would not have cared so much if this Lila girl wasn’t constantly known for being a fox villain. As if foxes would ever tell such flimsy lies!

No, the fox spirit decided she had to prove to the world that this Lila had no right to be connected to such a noble species.

It was time for Dupont to welcome a new student.

Caline welcomed Blossom to the class. As everyone welcomed her, Blossom was disappointed to see Plan A crumble. She initially intended to win the hearts of all the boys, but Adrien seemed to be guarded by the black cat. Shame. Plan B, then.

Wow everyone with credible lies.

Blossom admitted she loved to travel and took photos of her journeys to see how modern the world has become.

When they mentioned how Lila travelled frequently too, Blossom sweetly suggested Lila bring photos to class, along with photos she must have taken with celebrities.

Lila gritted her teeth, but with Marinette constantly calling her a liar, and a hot girl with amazing stories of her own showing up, she couldn’t back down or she would fade into the shadows.

The next day, Lila brought her photoshopped pictures. But Blossom conjured the magazines with those same celebrity pictures Lila used, claiming she wanted to know these celebrities Lila had befriended.

Seeing the photos, Lila panicked and claimed she forgot.

In any case, Blossom grilled Lila on her schools. Then when Lila suddenly realized her water bottle had cracked and her bag was soaked, she excused herself.

Foxes are natural tricksters and love to play mischief.

With Lila gone, Blossom sweetly suggested they get in touch with Lila’s old schools and arrange a surprise video for Lila.

The class enthusiastically agrees, Max and Alya volunteering to do the work.

While Blossom left them to it, she decided to visit Lila’s photoshoot at the park.

It’s a shame that a Pigeon decided to poop on Lila’s hair, but the photographer was stunned and joyful to see a gorgeous girl nearby. She could take Lila’s place.

Blossom: who? Me?

As Lila hurried to wash her hair, Blossom was a natural model, her fox charm attracting a crowd.

One boy muttered, “What a fox.”

Blossom overheard and murmured, “But isn’t Lila the fox?”

The crowd heard the comment and looked at Lila, then back at the admittedly prettier Blossom.

“Nope. Blossom is definitely the foxy one.”

Lila was humiliated and enraged. As she was akumatized once more, Blossom calmly pointed her finger and Volpina found her flute stoppered with gum. What the hell?

Anyway, her appearance attracted attention and she was defeated. But before Lila could take her exit, Blossom appeared and snatched her necklace. “Maybe it’s best to confiscate this necklace. We don’t want another return of Volpina, do we?”

Under her influence, the crowd agreed with Blossom. Lila had no choice but to agree.

Alone, Blossom eyed the pendant with disdain. A cheap imitation of Trixx’s miraculous.

Blossom closed her fist and when she opened her hand. The pendant had turned into a Lila doll.

“I’m not done with my fun, you phony.”

A few days later, Alya and Max angrily confronted Lila in class. They talked to her old classes who all agreed that Lila was nothing but a lying bully.

Outraged that Lila had deceived and taken advantage of them, the class gangs up on her. She runs away.

Blossom follows so she won’t get akumatized.

Blossom does follow Lila but makes no conversation. Instead she waits for the butterfly. Before Lila can be akumatized, Blossom snatched the akuma and gobbled it. Good magic, bad magic. A fox spirit needed to cultivate.

As Caline came to check on Lila, Lila tried to think of a defense. But it was strange. Why couldn’t she hear anyone else? Why did her wrists hurt? And ouch! What was wrong with her leg?

Blossom was busy playing with her new toy. Lila’s body was physically fine, but it certainly didn’t feel that way.

The nurse was exasperated. Lila was fine. The girl was just trying to play the lamb.

As Mrs Rossi arrived, Lila was helpless. Her body was not obeying her! The words that came out of her mouth were not her own.

Everyone stared as Lila kept trying to play the victim, angry and disappointed.

But when another akuma came, the words that blurted out of Lila’s mouth were from Blossom’s subconscious.

“Oh, goody, another akuma.”

Blossom really liked the energy kick the last one gave her. It wasn’t her intention to have Lila speak her instincts. Oh well. Everyone’s reactions were just too funny. It was all Blossom could do to keep her face just as appalled.

After Lila had been taken away, Blossom got 2 visitors. The kwamis wanted to know why she wanted to expose Lila.

Blossom: how could I let people think that girl was in any way a fox？

With Lila’s credibility ruined, people will certainly wonder how she ever got to be a fox villain in the first place.

Tikki: what will you do now?

Blossom: oh, I plan on watching the akuma fights. They are just too funny. Haha. And maybe I’ll eat an akuma or 2 myself again. Those butterflies really do have an acquired taste.

Plagg: I’ll stick to Camembert.

Blossom wrinkled her nose. “Ew.”

Ladynoir July Day 10 - Moonlight

As Adrien returned to the guest room, he saw that the situation was exactly the same as when he’d left. Plagg was sitting on the bed, little paws crossed over his chest, staunchly refusing to say so much as another word unless he was fed some cheese first.

At first Adrien had felt guilty for not having thought far enough ahead to procure some cheese first – but then he thought he could probably be forgiven. After spending a couple of days locked up in his father’s bedroom, learning that his father was officially a supervillain and that his mother wasn’t too far behind, and then gallivanting off to an alternate universe, refreshing Plagg’s cheese stash had been at the very bottom of his list of things to do.

So now he was just annoyed. He didn’t think that his Plagg would’ve been quite so stubborn when it came to at least having a conversation before demanding cheese, and he was frustrated by the delay in what was becoming an increasingly time sensitive situation. He marched over to the bed, unwrapped the cheese, and set it down on the bed right in front of Plagg.

“There you go. Cheese. And don’t you dare say a word about it not being Camembert. This isn’t my house, so you’ll have to take what you get,” Adrien said, somewhat more sharply than he’d intended.

Truth be told, he was glad this wasn’t Camembert. He didn’t think he could see a piece of that gross, stinky cheese without crying right now.

“You’re pretty rude for someone who is asking for my help,” Plagg said as he grabbed the cheese and bit off a huge chunk of it.

“It’s been a long few days for everyone involved, Plagg,” Trixx said. “Surely you can smell that Adrien is one of your kittens. You should be more agreeable.”

Plagg didn’t say anything, just kept stuffing his mouth with more cheese. Adrien sat down on the edge of the bed and watched him eat. He would need to get more cheese, he realized. Cheese and cookies. When he and Ladybug eventually retrieved the Miracle Box, their Plagg and Tikki would probably be starving too.

Only when every last scrap of cheese was gone did Plagg speak. “Yeah, I can smell it,” he said, picking at his fangs with a claw. They glinted like moonlight peeking through storm-dark clouds, and Adrien swallowed. He was suddenly reminded of all the things that his Plagg at hinted at having done over the years, like the destruction of Atlantis and the extinction of dinosaurs.

His Plagg was a good little kwami at heart, but what about this Plagg?

“Then that means you should do as he’s asking you to,” said Trixx.

“Pfft, what do I care? Just because he’s a kitten doesn’t mean he’s one of my kittens. Just an alternate universe version of me.”

“Same difference,” Trixx said, sounding increasingly annoyed. Plagg smiled a bit, and Adrien was almost positive that Plagg was enjoying this. Adrien had always worked under the assumption that most of the kwamis got along with each other, but he was starting to wonder if maybe Trixx and Plagg didn’t. Maybe mischief and destruction didn’t go as hand-in-hand as Adrien would have thought.

Plagg sniffed and looked Adrien over with an unimpressed expression. “I disagree.”

“Look, no matter what you say, I am Chat Noir and I’m a damned good one,” Adrien said. “One of the best.”

“Oh really? That’s quite a boast,” said Plagg.

“I’m only repeating what my Plagg told me,” Adrien replied. He flashed the ring on his hand. “The bottom line is, I need your help. So you’re going to help me one way or another. You can either do so willingly, and I promise to reward you with tons of cheese before I take you back where you came from, or I can just transform. It’s your call.” He stared at Plagg challengingly as he slipped off the Fox miraculous, resting it on his knee so that Trixx could remain.

“Huh. You have more of a spine than I expected,” Plagg said, sounding grudgingly impressed. “Alright, fine. But it better be a mountain of cheese.”

“Don’t worry. I know exactly how much cheese you like. Plagg, claws out!”

As green light washed through the room, Adrien shut his eyes. He only opened them again once the light had faded away.

“That was very nicely done, Adrien. I’m impressed,” Trixx said.

“Thanks,” Chat said, turning towards the mirror. The suit was largely the same with some subtle differences: his gloves and boots were both silver now, and there was green detailing across his chest. The belt around his waist was green too. He wondered if that was Plagg’s doing, or if it was because of himself.

Whatever the case, it didn’t matter. He picked up the Fox miraculous, slipping it back around his neck, and went to the window. With a quick push, he was climbing out and over to Marinette’s balcony.

So if a kwami wears a miraculous, another kwami appears. Is the new kwami tinier or the same size? If wearer-kwami or miraculous holder activates the powers, do the kwamis unify or just transform? (A Tikki and Plagg combo could be cat-astrophic.) Do they get a super suit?

What happens if they get into a disagreement? It seems really harsh to make your friend be trapped in a piece of jewelry just because you can’t agree on cookies or camembert…

Which miraculous would even fit on a kwami? I think the black cat ring and cow nose-ring would fit around their bodies; the dog choker, and snake/turtle/tiger bracelets might fit around their heads. The fox would have to be looped around them several times. I can’t remember what items the dragon/pig have. And I think the monkey is too big (it’s a circlet I believe), and the ladybug, bee, and sheep simply wouldn’t work because there’s nothing to attach them to.

What happens to the human miraculous holder? Do they have two kwamis following them around? Or is it more like the second kwami follows the first one? Do they (the kwamis) both advise the human or is there a alpha-beta ranking system where the fist one is the boss? That sounds more likely to make the holder go insane than wearing multiple miraculous’ at once.

What happens if a beta kwami puts on a miraculous?? How long can it go on???

If not I will be forced to assume the last three are all news channel hosts/reporters that spread the propaganda that Cheese orders them to, while also running a reality TV show for entertainment and that the former four watch/listen to the latter three's TV/radio show.😔

Camembert Fox has a twin sibling, still in the Golden City. She’s waiting for the day Celestial Cheese brings them back, but she knows a lot goes into powering the machine that makes it happen. Also, despite her short stature and resting pout, she’s quite friendly when you get to know her! She can be cautious and a bit of a stickler, but she means well, especially for those she cares about.

Spiced Brûlée can trace her ancestry back to Beast Yeast! She’s never been there, but she’s hoping to someday. She has lots of books on the continent, some of which contradict each other. There’s only one way to prove which one is right! (Also, she can dig holes incredibly fast. Hopefully that arm strength comes in handy?) (ALSO!! She LOVES Shining Glitter’s music and it’s a crime Feather has never heard of her)

Sunflower is the cool older sibling type who’s into monster hunting! It’s not her profession, but wrangling sandworms are a fun pastime. Even though she’s an outsider, Cheese is quite fond of her. Sunflower also knows Adventurer Cookie, and the two have kept in contact up until recently. She was also the one to give Yellow Feather her name! (It was a team effort, but her idea was the best.)

Nymphaea is a soft spoken and well mannered cookie who specializes in conjuring healing water. After an arduous day of work, the crew drink up, relax, and feel their strength returning. In the Golden City, she ran a bathhouse that was popular with monster fighters. As the co-captain and seniormost Homecomer (terminology used for Golden City cookies brought to the material plane), she’s the one who reports to the Chronicler, who sponsors the team.

As for what Smoked, Burnt, and Mozzarella are doing… they’re still in the Golden City, but let’s just say they might have altered data. That’s all I’ll share for now!

Me Rewatching ML: Antibug

Adrien had slipped into Chloe’s room in Mr. Pigeon. Chloe’s room is the royal suite. I’m not surprised.

Chloe really is a tsundere. “These shoes are never in season! No! I love you! Come back!”

Her reactions to LB is like the biggest hint of this, while publicly she acts like LB isn’t huge but privately is all over LB. I bet QB is constantly going to greet LB with hugs and pull her into selfies, especially since Chloe likes to do selfies with people she views as her friend.

The Agreste manor is right next to Bourgeois’ hotel. Chloe and Adrien are neighbors and both live right next to the Eiffel Tower.

You know, it is a really curious detail that Pollen’s background is the Notre Dame, right across from Marinette’s home. Will Notre Dame have some significance to Chloe and Pollen which is why that’s the background? I can’t imagine that’s where Chloe first meets Pollen, that’s too public. Maybe that’s where Chloe does her first transformation? And as for why she’s at Notre Dame, across from Marinette’s home, Marinette does have a birthday coming up, and something always happens on birthdays.

Tired Chloe sags. She is also one of those people that lean on her hand when tired. Me, I stretch my arm out and use it as a pillow. It’s more obvious I’m dozing but it’s what I usually do XD

Why is Mendeleiev in Buster’s class? This is Bustier’s classroom... how odd.

Evidently Sabrina has been absent since yesterday. She has been Vanisher for about two days.

Chloe saves Mylene from being accused. She is inclined to have the real perpetrator punished instead of someone else. Sabrina has a lot of withheld frustration with Chloe. I really hope s2 will have them separated, friendship broken. I can’t see much growth for either of them while together, and it really is an unhealthy relationship they have. I suspect Chloe’s redemption will resolve around Sabrina no longer there, for she does rely on Sabrina a lot, has had Sabrina by her side since elementary.

Mendeleiev ignores the pens that were thrown at Chloe.

Vanisher vandalized the bathroom.

23, Tikki is in the open again. If someone came up behind them to use the bathroom, she would’ve been seen.

Chloe is more eager for LB than Chat.

Chat approves of LB and Chloe friendship.

LB’s feelings aren’t mutual with either blonds. Does not appreciate how invasive of her space Chloe is being.

LB does chopping gestures when she’s trying to ward off undesired affection. Chat doesn’t grasp why LB is annoyed, which suggest that he gets the same treatment and it’s just how Chloe is when she’s affectionate, probably doesn’t click in his head not everyone appreciates or can tolerate that.

When the butler is akumatized, can his name be Big Mistachio?

Play pretend LB/CN is all Chloe’s idea and for her enjoyment.

Chloe’s excited to see Jagged Stone, despite him staying at the hotel. She either doesn’t see him often or he wound up leaving and is staying somewhere else. But since he’s having an interview there, it’s more likely the former.

Jagged is happy to see LB again.

Jagged Stone is not impressed, and rethinking his fondness.

Butler confirms that Chloe idolizes LB. Also confirms that Sabrina and Chloe fight time to time, with this one evidently being the or one of the worst fights between them.

He does a twirl. When they start dating I wonder if he’ll pull Marinette to dance with him time to time. Aw, she subtly rejects flower.

So Vanisher has been active for about two days I say, HM has been really patient with her letting her torment Chloe. It’s kinda surprising since Chloe is the one that allows him to have so many akumas. But I suppose he’s unaware that it’s pretty much Chloe that allows him to have those chances.

Chat has good eyes.

.....for some reason, the only thing I can think of seeing Chloe keeping a secret hero costume compartment in her closest is, why does she also have a wig? I know she’s never going to wear it, that’d mess up her hair.

I bet after she get Pollen this space gets replaced and it’s where she stores all pictures of her and LB and QB merchandise and such.

LB doesn’t want another civilian helping with an akuma fight.

I’m a bit surprised it’s only Marinette whose working to make sure Chloe’s out of the fight. Adrien has yet to make any move to get Chloe to safety.

Chloe has been practicing trying to do the same yo-yo spin as LB.

It sounded like Chat meowed when his head was in the pot.

Chloe’s room must be right next to the elevator for her to be in her room that fast. Or maybe the elevator directly goes into her room.

Chat does call out on LB for not listening to Chloe, let it be a reminder he doesn’t put LB on a pedestal. But it’s not unbelievable for LB to not trust Chloe’s words since yeah, she did lie to them about Sabrina, not telling them information they did need to handle the akuma.

And I am really bothered that it was only LB who kept jumping forward to keep Chloe out of the fight. Civilians can’t be in the middle of akuma attacks, especially if they’re the targets; it should be avoided as much as possible. Adrien should’ve been making an effort as well. It’s a reminder that out of the two, he doesn’t take heroing as seriously, and possibly has a mindset that it’s fine not too since LB can just restore order to everything. He really needs to grow more as a hero, especially since that does put more pressure on Marinette to take things more seriously and to be more efficient in what she’s doing.

Maybe when QB and fox!Alya join, he may feel inclined to take heroing more seriously then, cause both those two will be set to work well with LB, and them making an effort to take situations more seriously can lead to LB appreciating them more.

LB really does leave a huge impact in Chloe’s life, enough that she will genuinely break down and cry.

Upset with LB, still blows her a kiss.

Despite him not being imrepssed that she didn’t listen to Chloe, he is a true partner, ready to step up and help her. Just needs to take heroing more seriously.

Tired Tikki just flops in a slump.

1, Marinette put Tikki on her shoulder where Tikki can be seen against her blazer. She’s lucky everyone is focused on the fight.

I’ve seen Plagg inhale Camembert, I know you’re capable of eating fast too Tikki.

Oooooooooh, buuuuurn. Actually that’s a good mirror. Marinette often gets compared to Chloe quite a bit, and Chat jabs back at Chloe for constantly copying LB.

Where did the idea of the Civil War theme of LB c CN come from? They’re super loyal to each other, I can’t see them betraying each other. Even here tied up and Antibug’s prisoner, he refuses to side with her. Personally I think the Civil War is more likely between Gabriel and Adrien, a divide in family instead of partnership.

Ladybutt would’ve been a more effective insult than Ladybrat.

Tikki is purposely eating that cookie slowly. She’s not worried at all and is practically chilling out. She is doing this so Marinette can learn a lesson.

Yaaaaaas, Marichat save. I want more Marichat and Ladrien team ups!

I do wonder how Marinette got him out without Chat seeing her. I guess he closed his eyes?

If they looked down they would’ve seen Marinette.

24, Tikki is floating right before Marinette, she could be seen too if they looked down. And of course now she’s ready. Convenient.

She rung his bell. He is pleased.

Chat’s enjoying the bug fight.

CHAT YOU INTERRUPTED A PIGEON DATE.

Thankfully they bounce back.

...Poor pigeons can’t catch a break on their date.

Chloe is willing to listen to LB and accept her apology. Makes her aware that LB isn’t perfect and is still willing to be devoted to her. I am really looking forward to the LB QB meet up.

Ladynoir stare.

I wonder if Chloe puts on a mean face when she’s nervous. She looks tense, and it even looked like she gulped as she stepped into the classroom. I also notice that she has a tendency to cross her arms when she’s defensive, though I’d have to check to be sure. If it’s true, she’s tense about making up with Sabrina.

Chloe is happy and relieved, Marinette is actually for Chloe. New brooch, which kinda looks like the sun symbol in Tangled. At least it makes me think of it. For sure the brooch before was a rose, which appears to be Chloe’s favorite flower since I see a rose based design in her room a lot.

Tsundere Chloe is so tsundere.

Will they really continue to be bff’s? I really wonder. I think back to this one post covering the major characters with their best friends taking selfies. Marinette, Alya, Adrien, and Nino are all looking at the camera together. But Chloe and Sabrina, only Chloe is looking at the camera while Sabrina’s looking down at the brooch. It could be a symbolism that just adds to the issues they have as friends.

And regifting with a new brooch doesn’t wipe those issues away. Not at all.

Has anyone even thought of doing this.

You know how Ladybug & Chat Noir are teen superheroes. Imagine if they were part of Young Justice. Kid Flash & Chat getting into weird situations during a mission. Marinette & M’gann baking and cooking together as friends would to please their men. Artemis sometimes doing a facepalm when Marinette/Ladybug cannot admit here feelings to Adrien/Chat Noir, but also would help be a model when Marinette was designing clothes. Aqualad always have to stop arguments in the team, even if it means getting clawed by a superhero that’s dressed after a common eater of fish. Zatanna would know how to reverse the effects of akumatized victims with her magic and can also de-transform Ladybug & Chat Noir when needed. Connor & Megan would secretly ship Adrien and Marinette behind their backs and try to get them together. There was a few times Wolf tried to use Plagg as a chew toy. Hahaha. I now can’t stop laughing at all the possibilities.

Also Connor & Artemis would confront Adrien’s father to reconnect with his son instead of treating him like a modeling-employee since the both of them have trouble with their own fathers, but this was before they realized Gabriel is Hawkmoth and working with the Light. There was an incident that Chat Noir collapsed during a mission from exhaustion and lack of nutrients due to his strict dieting his father and his secretary Nathalie made him do for his modeling career. Marinette and M’gann had to cook and feed Adrien the same amount of food Wally would consume in order for him to get better. Wally & Conner almost threw a fit at the condition Adrien was in due to the extreme dieting and the team always made sure to carry extra food in their pockets just in case. They also carry a tin of camembert cheese for Plagg and cookies for Tiki. When Hawkmoth was revealed as Gabriel and captures by the team. Chat Noir/Adrien was immediately taken in by Batman/Bruce Wayne and lives in Gotham with Dick/Robin as a brother/close friend but still keeps his connection with his friends from Paris. Batman once paid a visit to Hawkmoth in prison and gave him a long lecture for neglecting Adrien instead of being a proper father. It’s later revealed Adrien’s mom is a superhero/vigilante named Peacock that went missing a year before Adrien and Marinette were Chat-Noir & Ladybug. Queen Bee was the original bee miraculous holder until her misuse of it cause her to lose her privilege permanently. She devoloped her own power, which is present in YJ as persuasion of the mind/pheromone control. She recruit her own sidekick and steals the bee miraculous hair clip to give to her sidekick, which the sidekick is actually Chloe Bourgeois. Aliya becomes the fox miraculous holder and a sidekick to Parisian hero, Crimson Fox. (Crimson Fox is from DC’s Justice League International comics , you can look it up.)

Bonus: Aliya’s favorite hero is actually not a hero but a certain reporter named Lois Lane. There was an incident where Aliya couldn’t meet her role-model until Marinette, Megan, and Connor decided to ask Superman to bring Lois to Paris to meet Aliya, even though Connor was reluctant to help.

This month’s origami is a sailboat. It feels especially appropriate for where I live in Japan, Yokohama, which is a port town. The info sheet included tells you a little about the family who runs Freedom Japanese Market as well as a brief description of each snack.

Okashi Na Mizu Ame

I must admit that I’ve gotten this candy quite a few times before in Japanese snack boxes. It comes with three different flavored gels, soda, lemon, and strawberry, that you mix in a plastic tray. When they’re mixed it makes a grape flavor! I’m not a huge fan of gel candy, but this is still fun to play with.

Pumpkin Soup Umaibo

This is a popular puffed corn snack that comes in tons of different flavors. This is flavored like pumpkin soup! The cute character on the front is the mascot of Kumamoto prefecture, so I’m assuming the pumpkins are from there. I love Japanese pumpkin, called kabocha, so I could have used a little more pumpkin flavor. However, it still tastes great, like a light, savory pumpkin soup.

Chocolate Umaibo

The second Umaibo product looks like it’s the same shape, but the wrapper actually have four chocolate puffs inside. The outside of the puff is flakey, almost like a cream puff. Inside the puff is a chocolate frosting-like cream. I’ve never seen or tried these before, but the chocolate was really rich!

Strawberry Koala’s March

I asked my husband what he thought of these Koala’s March snacks, and he said “they never let me down.” Koala’s March are known for the adorable koalas printed on the biscuit snack. The cream inside has good strawberry flavor.

Cream Rusk

Usually rusks are toasted bread with a sweet sugar topping/glaze. This snack was more of a cookie, and it almost tasted like freeze-dried angel food cake? It sounds strange, but it was so good! The cookie melts in your mouth, leaving a sweet cream taste.

DonDon Yaki

These were a huge hit at my house! My husband described them as “kimchi croutons,” which feels accurate. They’re kimchi flavored senbei. The rice cracker itself is crunchy, while the kimchi flavor is strong. The bag was quickly gone!

Fried Potato

This is another snack that I’ve gotten before in snack boxes, but I’m always game for fried potatoes. They’re a french fry shaped potato snack. I love salt, so these could be a little more flavorful for my taste. However, it’s something that most people will like.

Neri Ume

These are ume (plum) flavored gummies. Plum flavored treats here can be quite sour, but these weren’t overpowering. Then again, I quite like sour things! So if you’re sensitive to sour treats, maybe try a bite before you pop a whole gummy into your mouth. I like how the fruity and sour flavors play together; it’s a very “Japanese” taste.

Do-n Tarou

I love the retro packaging on this snack! It’s fried noodles flavored like fried tofu udon. The little fox is saying “there’s no fox in here!” It’s sort of a pun–this type of tofu udon is called “kitsune udon.” “Kitsune” is also the word for fox. It’s a savory, crunchy snack perfect for those who enjoy Japanese noodles.

Premium Cheese Umaibo

Umaibo are one of my favorites. They’re super cheap and come in so many flavors. The first Umaibo in this box is a Premium Umaibo. It’s larger than the normal corn puff snack and is flavored with mozzarella and Camembert cheese. There isn’t a lot of cheese in Japan, but Camembert is very popular. It says on the package that it’s “rich and creamy.” This is hands down one of the best Umaibo—it tastes like a more sophisticated cheese puff.

Mini Bottle—Strawberry

This cute little bottle has strawberry candy inside. It reminds me a lot of those sugar Pixie Stix. It’s fairly sour, which gives it more flavor than your typical straight sugar treat.

Baby Gang

This little packet of popping candy has the strangest name—“Baby Gang?!” I have no idea why it’s called that, but it green apple flavor was actually really good! It was a little sour, and not overly artificial tasting.

Awa Dama

This candy is a little fizzy and has a strong purple grape flavor. The info sheet says it’s chewing gum, but I’m pretty sure it’s actually hard candy. Be careful! I was expecting gum based on the info card, so I bit down pretty hard…oops!

Melon Soda Gum

This stick of gum is melon soda flavored, and it’s this month’s bonus item! It’s very soft and chewy. The melon flavor is strong and sweet, but not overpowering. The stick of gum is longer than my hand!

Mike Popcorn

I was so excited to see a full sized bag of Mike Popcorn! I love popcorn, and Mike popcorn is how I get my fix here in Japan. They always have fun new flavors. This bag is flavored like “mentsuyu,” which is a Japanese soup base used for dishes like ramen or udon. It’s mostly soy sauce, but there’s other ingredients often used like cooking sake, mirin, kombu (kelp), and bonito (fish flakes). This popcorn is amazing–it’s salty, savory, and flavorful. It combines a very Japanese flavor with the crunch of popcorn.

Overall, I enjoyed the August box from Freedom Japanese Market. There were a few snacks that I’ve gotten before, but there was still a lot of new things to try as well. My favorites were the Mike’s popcorn, DonDon Yaki, and Cream Rusk. I’m still excited about getting that big bag of popcorn! The box is an excellent value as well–you get a lot of sweet and savory snacks for the price.
