Fotoequipment mieten, kaufen oder reparieren in Island

Welcher Profi-Fotograf oder ambitionierte Fotoamateur kennt das Problem nicht: Was nehme ich mit auf meine Reise, wenn das Handgepäck bei einem gewichtstechnisch sehr beschränkt ist? Ich habe gerne eine große Auswahl an fototechnischem Gerät zur Verfügung. Viele verschiedene Kameras, noch mehr verschiedene Objektive, Filter, Stative. Da muss man sich schon für eine Flugreise stark einschränken.

 Mein erster Tipp: Trage eine Fotoweste und packe sie mit Objektiven voll. Wird am Mann getragen und ist daher Kleidung und fällt nicht unter das Handgepäck. Kann nur beim Sicherheitscheck etwas länger dauern.

Mein zweiter Tipp: Wenn man nicht alleine reist, kann man seine Technik vielleicht ganz gut auf Mitreisende verteilen.

 Und klar ist auch, dass man alles was nur irgendwie geeignet für das Aufgabegepäck ist, da auch hineingepackt wird: Kabel, Blitzgeräte, Stative. Sensibles gehört ins Handgepäck.

 Aber selbst so vorbereitet, kann es gut sein, dass einem immer noch etwas fehlt, das eine oder andere Objektiv zu schwer war, das Stativ zu groß …, kurzum man hat wieder nicht das technische Material dabei, was man gerne hätte. Oder man hat das Pech, das einem etwas kaputt geht.

Grundsätzliche sollte sich jeder der mit „großem Foto-Equipment“ nach Island reist bewusst sein, dass es außer in Reykjavik nur schwer Ersatzmaterial zu kaufen gibt oder Teile der Ausrüstung repariert werden können. Telefonisch lässt sich jedoch in Island sehr viel regeln und da die Post sehr zuverlässig ist, ist man in solch einem Fall, vor allem bei längeren Aufenthalten, nicht ganz so aufgeschmissen, wie es auf den ersten Blick den Anschein haben mag. Ich habe es erlebt, saß auf den Färöer Inseln und brauchte Kamerateil, was bei der Überfahrt mit der Fähre verlustig ging. Also rief ich bei BECO an, bestellte, bezahlte und ließ mit es mir an eine meiner nächsten Unterkünfte in Island schicken. Funktionierte fast hervorragend. Nur die Post war etwas langsam. Ich war bereits weiter gezogen, als das gute Stück eintraf. Aber die Post in Island ist schließlich nicht die Deutsche Post und so kostete es mich nur ein Besuch in einem Postamt, ein Telefonat und am folgenden Tag hatte ich meine Bestellung.

Und da ich im Sommer nicht ausreichend Technik in den Flieger bekommen habe und bei meinem letzten Besuch in Reykjavik wieder etwas kaputt ging (Ich gehe nicht unbedingt pfleglich mit meiner Ausrüstung um.) Habe ich mich jetzt einmal schlau gemacht, wer für Fotografen, Profis wie Amateure, was leisten kann:

Less than six months ago, he was swinging the streets of New York. Michelle doubts he did much acting while he wore the mask.

It’s not that she dislikes Peter Parker or Spider-Man. In fact, back in her high school days in Queens, she rather admired the guy. Especially when she found out he was just a kid her age. She might have even had a little crush on him when he was outed as Spidey, and his silly school picture was broadcast to the whole world.

But he had continued superhero-ing and she had worked on her craft. And the fact that he could just barge in here with his name alone rubbed her the wrong way. Like an athlete who thought he could star in a movie because how hard could it be, right?

Or Peter and MJ are both actors. And are dummies in love who start fake-dating for reasons no one understands, least of all themselves.

You type away on your laptop as you block out all the racket happening in your team’s shared dressing room. All the lightbulbs around the vanities are on, adding to the already iffy amount of body heat of around twenty people in this room. You had a show to do, but this analysis wasn’t going to write itself.

Right beside you is Yeji as she puts the final touch-ups on her makeup, lightly smacking her lips together. She tucks a loose strand of hair behind her ear, letting up a smile of satisfaction. 

Her sights shift onto you too, her eyes sparkling, “How do I look?”

“Like a goddess.”

Yeji lets out a bashful giggle.

You’ve already forgotten about the document in front of you, taking your phone out to get the camera ready. “Yeji,” you affectionately call for her, “pose for me.”

The soft smile on her face remains, shaking her head as she moves her seat next to you, “Let’s take a picture together.” 

You ignore how shy you’ve suddenly gotten from the close proximity, the two of you moving into your best angles. You steadily hold your phone up as you start clicking away towards the mirror. It’s framed nicely, capturing the candid, busy, yet charming scene of the dressing room. 

Unfortunately, somebody spots the camera and strikes a ridiculous pose.

“Hwang Hyunjin, stop.” You can feel Yeji hold in a laugh as she maintains her smile.

But it’s all in vain. 

Jisung swoops into the picture, Lia pokes her head into the frame, and Felix whirls around to see what’s happening behind him.

The camera in your hand continues to click away. Each time capturing a new face. Seungmin. Heejin. Eric. Kim Hyunjin. Jongho. Gowon. Your cheeks bunch up as more than ten people have jovially forced and are forcing themselves in to join the impromptu photo session.

All with you and Yeji laughing together in the middle.

Hey, look out, it's #Acroyear Uniquer Camerar!

To be honest, I originally wasn't interested in these cartoonish Acroyear henchman robots that the Acroyears built from scrapyard parts and saw them as kind of the equivalent of the #Micronauts' Trons. The Acroyears have a very different image in #Microman than they do in Micronauts, being more like early versions of the bad guys from tokusatsu sentai shows, brutal but incredibly dumb. While their own designs are meant to look cool, the comic relief went to the Uniquer Army and Acroyear Navy minions.

It's my personal opinion that the Uniquers are possibly meant to be evocative of the tsumogami yokai of Japanese folklore, abandoned inanimate objects that have grown a life of their own.

Once I got this tiny guy from @bananapoons though, my heart melted. The figure is adorably small (much smaller than I thought from photos), has swapable 5mm and Magnemo-8 parts, rolls smoothly on his tiny wheels, and has surprising weight due to the big magnet inside his small body giving the whole toy a pleasant "hand-feel". He comes across more like a pet robot than an evil Acroyear henchman, and he really has a lot of shelf presence next to his Acroyear "family", especially with his unique color scheme.

The only other Uniquer I have is A-603 Akube Saburo, an excellent toy I shared photos of here previously, clear dark green and loaded with interchangeable fun.

It's easy to forget sometimes that the target demographic of Microman was about 5 to 9 years old, and more whimsical characters like this are meant to appeal most to the youngest fans (and perhaps make the monstrous Acroyears a bit less scary). The cartoon graphic (a bit damaged on this one) behind the "lens" portraying Mad Green Acroyear 2 and Uniquer Akube is really rather cute, too.

I don't think I'll ever part with this little guy. Maybe someday I'll get his brothers Tokider the alarm clock and Lighton the desk lamp.
