Should Jim Acosta wear a tie? For the last two months, since the former anchor quit his job at CNN, Mr. Acosta has been broadcasting online several times per week, usually from his dining room, using his iPhone. Often, he is troubleshooting in real time, far from the high-gloss desk and sophisticated cameras of his CNN set. One question he faces is how many “frills” to add to his interviews with the likes of Pete Buttigieg, the former transportation secretary, or Representative Hakeem Jeffries of New York, the top House Democrat. “The magic here is not killing or messing with this organic nature of the show,” said Matt Hoye, Mr. Acosta’s newly hired executive producer and a 30-year veteran of CNN, who is leaning “no” on adding neckties but “yes” on graphics. “The Jim Acosta Show” streams live on Substack, a platform that has recently cemented itself as a harbor for stranded television anchors. In January, the start-up best known for email newsletters gave all users the ability to publish live video. Now it is home to a handful of cable stars marooned from their mainstream media jobs amid reshuffled lineups, salary cuts and other controversies. On Substack, where politics is the most popular and lucrative category, anti-Trump publishers have been performing particularly well.

Joy Reid began regularly posting to Substack in March, after her MSNBC show was canceled. On Friday, the former CNN anchor Don Lemon joined Substack after a year of livestreaming on YouTube. They join established chart-toppers, like Mehdi Hasan (the former MSNBC host) and Dan Rather (the onetime face of CBS News), along with various CNN expatriates: Norm Eisen, Jessica Yellin, Chris Cillizza, Elise Labott and Alisyn Camerota. This new TV diaspora has one central proposition: The future of news is casual. Sometimes very casual. Anchors can lose their seats and still hold on to their star power, so long as they give modern audiences what they want. “What’s most important in my business now is authenticity,” as the Fox News host turned YouTube star Megyn Kelly recently told The New York Times. [...] Katie Couric, who started an independent media company in 2017, has found the accelerated decline of linear television “at times upsetting,” she said: “I used to anchor the ‘CBS Evening News’ and the ‘Today’ show, and I’m doing Instagram Lives now.” Today, however, with a few dozen employees and a newsletter nearing one million subscribers, she more often feels legacy media is “late to the party.” Broadcasting on social media is “authenticity on steroids,” said Ms. Couric, who recently paused shopping for an Oscars party dress to livestream a breaking-news discussion on Ukraine, parking herself on the couch of a fashion brand’s showroom, wearing no makeup, she pointed out. [...] Some networks have tried to incorporate more of the internet’s casual and chaotic offerings into their sleek lineups, as when ESPN acquired the freewheeling “Pat McAfee Show” or Fox News developed a show with “a signature podcast style” around Will Cain.

Journalists such as Jim Acosta, Joy Reid, and Don Lemon have traded on-air roles at major cable outlets that have fancy studio setups for more modest digs and post on Substack with more editorial freedom.

Camerota, inchiesta parcheggi: spuntano altri indagati

Spuntano altri nomi dall’inchiesta aperta dalla procura di Vallo della Lucania sul presunto «affidamento della gestione dei parcheggi di Camerota alla Soget». Sono 9 le persone  raggiunte due giorni fa da avviso di conclusione delle indagini. Insieme al sindaco Scarpitta, alla giunta e al responsabile dell’ufficio finanziario Castaldi, risultano indagati anche Lina Di Lello, residente a Pescara, GiuseppeCirone di Sala Consilina e SergioGargiulo di Salerno. Gli ultimi tre, la di Lello in qualità di legale rappresentate dalla Soget, Cirone quale membro esperto e Gargiulo quale segretario comunale  «quali componenti della commissione giudicatrice della gara indetta dal Comune aggiudicavano il servizio alla Soget procurandole un ingiusto vantaggio patrimoniale».

«Concorreva nel reato quale beneficiario delle condotte – si legge nell’avviso di conclusione delle indagini – Lina Di Lello in qualità di rappresentante della Soget». Gli amministratori avrebbero concorso con  l’approvazione delle delibere, dissimulando «sotto forma di rinegoziazione delle iniziali condizioni del contratto l’affidamento di un servizi diverso da quello previsto nell’originario  bando di gara».

Le indagini relative a fatti del 2018 sono venute fuori dagli accertamenti già in essere presso il Comune di Camerota nell’ambito della maxi inchiesta Kamaraton che risale invece al 2016 e che, la stessa inchiesta, nel 2019, portò agli arresti di alcuni amministratori, tra cui i due ex sindaci AntonioRomano e AntonioTroccoli.

Il sindaco MarioSalvatoreScarpitta ha espresso la sua piena fiducia nella magistratura, rivendicando di aver preso le decisioni al vaglio ora della magistratura per consentire un risparmio di oltre 3 milioni di euro al Comune. «Non abbiamo nulla da temere – ha detto – perché siamo un’amministrazione di uomini e donne oneste, orgogliosi di aver ricevuto un avviso di garanzia per aver fatto un contratto a favore dei cittadini di Camerota».

Bel giro di snorkeling a Sapri. Pranzo a Sapri da PonziPò: pizza fritta eccellente (2ª al campionato internazionale di pizza). Pomeriggio riposo in agriturismo. La sera avremmo voluto vedere Inside Out 2 in un cinema locale ma hanno avuto problemi tecnici e siamo tornati mestamente in agriturismo, dove abbiamo cenato…

Mattinata qualche spesa a Policastro e Scario. Poi un tuffo in piscina e pranzo al sacco in stanza. Pomeriggio riposino, poi bagno in una spiaggia di Scario e di nuovo in stanza a prepararci.

Siamo andati finalmente a vedere Inside Out 2 a Policastro Bussentino. Bellissimo film che ci ha colpito parecchio… A seguire cena alla pizzeria Quo Vadis di Scario.

Gita a Maratea. Volevamo fare un giro in kayak ma a me sembrava troppo impegnativo (3h dalle 14), abbiamo visto per le barche ma costava un po’ troppo, abbiamo ripiegato su 1h di pedalò… 😅 La zona di Maratea è talmente ricca di cose da fare che meriterà una vacanza apposita.

Rientro nel tardo pomeriggio e cena da Speranza.

Notte travagliata e disturbata da una mosca. Quest’ultima giornata si prospetta piuttosto faticosa da affrontare. Dopo un po’ di fatica andiamo a Marina di Camerota cercando un battello per la visita alle spiagge più belle ma alla fine, complice anche la stanchezza, decidiamo per una spiaggia poco distante. Torniamo prima di pranzo dopo un bagno e ci prendiamo un panino a Scario. Pomeriggio di riposo e spese in vivaio, dove andiamo ogni anno. Per cena, volevamo andare in un ristorante poco distante, e abbiamo fatto una prenotazione tramite The Fork. Invece, con nostra somma sorpresa, il locale era chiuso e sul posto abbiamo trovato due ragazzi romagnoli che avevano avuto la nostra disavventura. Allora, abbiamo deciso di tornare da Speranza, portandoli assieme a noi per salvare la cena e stare in compagnia. Silvia e Marco (i due ragazzi) erano molto simpatici e cordiali e la cena è stata piacevole.
