-Al: You look like a stripper, Sam (doesn’t look away)

(I’m still wondering if he sees Sam or the person he leaped on)

-Al: how can I help you, I am an hologram

Sam: (5 minutes later) hey wanna a bit? Ah no, of course, you’re a hologram

-I love you Al?!?! Like what?!?! And the singing together scene?!?! (Shows Sam a picture of a woman in a Bikini to reassure his “straighteness” and then encourages him to kiss a girl) that was weird thank ziggy he leaped

-I feel like the moral of the story is that Sam now is able to help people in a way he didn’t when he was in his timeline, to say it in a way. He saved his “sister” from being married to an abusive man, in the speech Sam said all the things he didn’t say to her. Like, he is amnesiac but still remembered that he could have done something

-And also…Michael Jackson?!?

i see this one as a soft reset for the series. like series pilot 2.0. i love that we get to see al dealing with the politics of keeping the project afloat, but most importantly: we really get to see how much al and sam mean to each other. this is really the first time they're faced with the very real prospect of losing each other forever, and seeing how they react to that says a lot. i have many feelings.

what can i say that hasn't already been said. seeing sam beckett experience gender euphoria as a woman permanently shifted something inside my brain.

one of the relatively rare low-stakes leaps. i always wanted to be a radio dj so i get to live out that dream vicariously through sam. the outfits (both sam and al's) are incredible and it's a lot of fun to see sam having fun.

the very first episode of quantum leap i ever watched. the reason why i fell in love with the show instantly. autistic sam? heavy al lore? i cried the first time i saw it and i didn't even know these characters yet. it hits me somewhere deep.

right hand of god

heavy religious overtones aside, i really love this episode for one reason: it shows us the toll that the leaping's taking on al. i don't care what anybody says, the noisy neighbor story was a lie. al can't sleep because he's worried sick about sam and in emotional turmoil. he doesn't feel needed or useful and it provides a lot of insight into his character as well as their dynamic. plus the draft script gave us "sam. baby, booby, sweetheart." and for that, we can ALL be thankful.

(honorable mention to dreams, the b**g**m*n, ghost ship, another mother, genesis, the leap back, camikazi kid...god there's so much to choose from...)
