This is the story of Kobe Bryant’s life Kobe Bryant, 41, and his daughter Gianna, 13, were killed in helicopter crash.Matt Sayles/Invision/AP Photo
The 2020 Grammy Awards were a somewhat somber occasion this year, taking place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles just hours after L.A. Lakers legend Kobe Bryant died in a helicopter crash.
Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, were among the nine victims who died in a crash that took place in Calabasas, Calif. on Sunday morning.
While many musicians remarked on the red carpet that the tragedy made "music's biggest night" bittersweet, the show did have moments of levity.
In the end, the night belonged to Billie Eilish, who spent about as much time on stage as host Alicia Keys.
Here's a recap of the ceremony's most talked-about moments.
1. Kobe Bryant is honored at the top of the show: After many stars memorialized to Bryant on the red carpet, Lizzo kicked off the 2020 Grammys by announcing, "Tonight is for Kobe," and host Alicia Keys paid tribute to the NBA star in her monologue.
"We're literally standing here, heartbroken, in the house that Kobe Bryant built," Keys said. "Right now, Kobe and his daughter Gianna and all of those that have been tragically lost today are in our spirit, and our hearts and our prayers."
Keys asked the crowd to take a moment to remember Bryant, and was joined on stage by Boyz II Men to sing their hit, "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday."
"We wanted to do something that could describe, a tiny bit, how we all feel right now," she explained. "We never imagined in a million years we'd have to start the show like this."
Tumblr media
2. Stars remember Prince and Nipsey Hussle:It's been almost four years since Prince died, and to honor the late singer, Usher, FKA Twigs and Prince's longtime collaborator Sheila E. took the stage for a performance of the late singer's hits "Little Red Corvette," "When Doves Cry" and "Kiss."
Later in the show, Nipsey Hussle, who was fatally shot in Los Angeles last March, was remembered in a tribute by Meek Mill, Roddy Rich, John Legend, DJ Khaled, Kirk Franklin and YG. At the end of DJ Khaled's song, "Higher," on which Hussle was featured, the late rapper's photo, along with Bryant's, was shown. "Higher" later won the award for best rap song, and Khaled dedicated the honor to Hussle.
"We all love him, we all miss him," Legend added.

3. Performances from every genre rock the Staples Center: For many, the biggest reason to tune in to the Grammys is to watch the performances, and this year, they didn't disappoint.
Lizzo started the show by belting out "Cuz I Love You" and "Truth Hurts," followed by real-life couple Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani singing "Nobody But You."
The Jonas Brothers serenaded the crowd with "Five More Minutes" and "What's a Man Gotta Do," and then Tyler, the Creator performed "Earfquake" and "New Magic Wand" with Boyz II Men and Charlie Wilson.
Later, Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus brought down the house with their hit "Old Town Road," along with BTS, Mason Ramsey, Diplo, Young Thug and Nas. Ariana Grande sang "Imagine," "7 Rings" and "Thank U, Next," and Demi Lovato moved viewers with her emotional new song, "Anyone."
Other performers included Camila Cabello, Tanya Tucker, Rosalia, H.E.R., and Gary Clark Jr., among others.
Tumblr media
4. Demi Lovato returns to the stage: Just before her overdose in the summer of 2018, Demi Lovato wrote a song called "Anyone," which she recently described as a "cry for help." The 27-year-old singer took the stage at the Grammysfor her first performance since her hospitalization, delivering an emotional performance that brought her to tears.
"Anyone, please send me anyone. Lord, is there anyone? I need someone," she sang.
The crowd gave her a standing ovation.
Tumblr media
5. Billie Eilish wins big: At just 18, Billie Eilish has accomplished things most musicians can only dream of. The singer picked up five of the six Grammys for which she was nominated on Sunday, including best new artist, album of the year for "When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?" and song of the year and record of the year for "Bad Guy."
In her acceptance speech for record of the year, Eilish said she thought Ariana Grande deserved the honor, and she laughed when she picked up album of the year.
"Thank you," she said, simply.

My Selections for GRAMMYS 2020
Continuing what I started last year here’s my reaction to the GRAMMY Nominations with my selections for who I believe should win, and also who I would have picked for each category.
Let me first lay out the ground rules: - I will be following the time frame for eligibility which is October 1st 2018 to September 30th 2019. - I will be ignoring categories for genres I don’t listen to enough. Metal, Country, Classical, Jazz, will be left off. - I am ignoring that the Performance categories are a mixture of recordings and live performances and just treating them as genre specific “Records of the year” awards. The one’s with “Song” in the title are geared more towards the song writing. - I will first make my selection of the available options. Bold and underlines will be my top selection with underlined not bold as my runner up. - I will then make my own selections for each category and who I think should win out of that. - My selection is not just a list of my favorite albums. My selections will be a balancing act taking in account artistic accomplishments, Impact both culturally and popularity as well as what I personally think is good. - I made a few liberties with some of my selections, mostly from the rules for eligibility being vague in spots. - This list is just all my biased suggestions. I’m sure there will be some major differences in opinions with anybody who reads this. - Feel free to shoot me a message to discuss more with me anything you wish to!

okay here is my definitive ranking of the performances in the 2020 grammys
lil nas x and everyone singing old town road. the aesthetics. the outfit changes. the SET. THE VIBES. it was the MOST fun.
lizzo’s opening number. setting the fucking ENERGY. that black dress was incredible.
demi lovato. i love her so much and even though it’s not the best technical performance, or the most interesting, it was by far the most emotional for me.
usher’s prince tribute. it was SUCH a delight, oh my god, and also that hot dancer needs to call me.
tanya tucker and brandi carlile. that song fully fucks me up thank you.
h.e.r. is such a talent and a gift and a legend and i loved her performance SO. MUCH.
alicia keys and boyz ii men singing a cappella. heartbreaking but still, like, nice.
smokey robinson and little big down singing a cappella. listen, it was cute. even if something almost identical happened last year.
the nipsey hussle tribute. i don’t know nipsey hussle’s music but it was such a good and energetic and loving tribute.
rosalia. the energy was AMAZING i could watch her dance all day and also malamente as a song fucking rules.
trombone shorty and the preservation band. a nice little pick me up! fun and cute.
the first third of ariana grande’s performance, where she sang imagine and then the fun weird orchestral version of my favorite things.
alicia keys and brittany howard. it was fine? they both were having a lot of fun, and i liked the song and the staging, but it was a little bland.
camila cabello and very specifically the part where she went to her own actual father to sing to him directly. that got me!
the jonas brothers. i have to be real, they’re mostly ranked this high because of their outfits. if it weren’t for that they would be like six spots lower.
gary clark jr and the roots. i didn’t like the performance overly much but its noteworthy because i think it’s the only performance in this show that resulted in me actively wanting to look up the performer.
billie eilish. girl can SING. also her brother’s tux jacket ruled.
bonnie raitt. kind of bland but a good song and i like her!
tyler, the creator. it’s not my normal stuff and it didn’t do much for me but the aesthetics were outrageously good.
the group cover of i sing the body electric, which was well done from a performance standpoint and was fun to watch but at that point i was sitting there like. mr ehrlich i am BEGGING you to end this show i have been watching it for THREE AND A HALF HOURS. if it’d been earlier it would be higher tbh.
alicia keys’s lewis capaldi cover, which i have to assume would’ve been her opening number if it weren’t for the boys ii men thing. it was fine but it also feels very much like it was a producer’s idea because it didn’t fit in with the tone she was cultivating.
aerosmith with run dmc, which was fine but went on faaaaaar too long.
the last two thirds of ariana grande’s performance, where she sang 7 rings and thank u next. if i wanted to watch the music videos, i would. and honestly, don’t do a super dance intensive performance and have the recorded version of your song play over it. boring.
blake shelton and gwen stefani. what a completely forgettable performance. if i did not literally have it listed in front of me i wouldn’t have remembered to include it.

Make people bop to your tunes with these music-making tools
Tumblr media
When I was in school, I discovered a software named Virtual DJ. It was a Windows app that allowed me to queue up songs and even provided some automated effects and tools to act cool in front of my friends.
My love for the Virtual DJ carried over to college, and I used to be the resident DJ for all parties in my hostel. I knew jack shit about actual DJing back then, but the app allowed me to earn some street cred.
I’ve always been fascinated by apps that let fools like me play around with tabs and still produce something that roughly resembles a tune. So, I thought I’d list some stuff you can use to amuse (or annoy) your friends and family during this lockdown:
You can download Virtual DJ for Windows and Mac for free to learn some mixing basics or just switch up some tunes.
If you want something advanced, Apple is offering a 90-day free trial of its famed Logic Pro X music software used by many artists and producers.
Roland’s Zenbeats app is free to download on iOS and Android.
The US Library of Congress is building an online tool called Citizen DJ to let you use sounds from its gigantic collection.
Pioneer DJ has made its streaming and recording app free for 90 days.
If you want to record an instrument you’re playing, try the Dolby On app available on Android and iOS.
Dani Deahl has written a great story on The Verge listing a ton of tools and sample packs that you can use to make music.
Video of the day
Pitchfork recently interviewed FINNEAS, the Grammy-winning producer, who’s worked with Billie Eilish on her albums. His other collaborators include Camila Cabello and Selena Gomez. Watch this fascinating video of his thought-process behind making music.

Fancy Francy Best of Grammy 2020 Fashion
Grammy Awards is an annual awarding for recognizing different international artists and celebrities for their outstanding contribution to the industry. Aside from their performances and their grand red carpet entrances, people are also excited for what they are going to wear in the said event. So here are some of the eye-catching get up of some famous celebrities that are nominated in the Grammys!
Ariana Grande
Ariana Grande arrived at the red carpet in a custom Giambattista Valli ball gown made of a gray-colored tulle. Her dramatic skirt was  made for a show-stopping, red-carpet moment.
Ariana Grande really slayed and made the Grammy Awards night into a fabulous stage by her billowing ball gown as she made a big walk on the red carpet. A lot of fans started talking and giving compliments on twitter towards her dove cloudlike gray gown.
“God is a woman and her name is Ariana Grande” -  @BeliebinTeam
“in other news, Ariana Grande looks AMAZING! her dress ommmgggggg” -@aliksandrya
“EXACTLY ARIANA. I KNEW WE WERE GONNA GET SERVED BUT I DIDNT KNOW IT WOULD BE AN EIGHT COURSE MEAL !!!!” -@lavendersdiors
Ariana really did paved the way and proved that she's really one of the most iconic fashionable artist in Hollywood. The gown was really amazing as it bounces, the detail was simple yet extravagant, and the color is really great and eye-appealing even though it's dull. Everybody was swayed by her and her beautiful bouncy gown. A lot of designer also got amazed and was left in awe. Indeed, Ariana Grande isn't just a Pop Icon, but a Fasion Icon.
Tumblr media
Billie Eilish
At the Grammys, Eilish was head-to-toe in custom, crystal-embroidered Gucci with GG logoed jogging pants and a matching baggy bowling shirt, worn over a lime green turtleneck with puffed sleeves. She added emerald leather Flashtrek sneakers that were embellished with green crystals.
Gucci is one of the most famous and expensive brands in the fashion industry. Who doesn't know Gucci? Well, in the Grammy Awards night, Billie Eilish just wore Gucci all over her body. From head-to-toe, everything is Gucci! Her signature oversized suit is Gucci, her pants are Gucci, her shoes are Gucci, and even her accecories like her glasses, her nails, her earrings, and her face mask are all Gucci! What can we say? It's Billie Eilish! Her fashion sense might be very different from others because of her unique concept, but everything seems so wonderful as she handles and wears it glamorously. Can't believe someone, especially a woman, can look very beautiful and awesome with black and green? Yes, Billie Eilish does!
Tumblr media
Lana Del Rey
At the 62nd annual Grammy Awards ceremony, Lana Del Rey, whose album Norman Fucking Rockwell was nominated for Album of the Year, arrived in a sparkling silver stunner. The dress was purchased at the mall, she revealed in a red-carpet interview. Grammy Awards is a very awaited and special event to every artist. It's like a dream to be nominated and to be able to attend Grammys. In line with that, a lot of artist prepared and even got a famous and excellent dress designer for their outfits. But, Lana Del Rey is different. She stated in the interview that her gown was a last-minute purchased. She confidently stepped onto the red carpet wearing a beaded silver Aidan Mattox gown. She admitted that she just saw it on a mall when she was shopping together with her boyfriend. Despite of that, Lana Del Rey still managed to gave off a  very glowing and fantastic atmosphere within her. The gown really suits her that showed how simplicity is the true elegance. The gown was well-made and has a glittery design which made Lana Del Rey eye-catching during the event. After that, the gown's stocks became easily sold to the public because of Lana Del Rey. She's indeed a fashion icon.
Tumblr media
Lil Nas
For the 2020 Grammys, the 20-year-old stepped onto the red carpet in a hot pink ensemble that caused a mini-Twitter frenzy. Have you ever saw a Cowboy in Pink? If you haven't, don't miss a chance to check Lil Nas X's outfit last Grammy Awards! He did stole the night by wearing a Versace hot pink cowboy hat and suit with gold details on it, a daring harness and a mesh shirt underneat his cropped blazer, and Versace medusa earrings. Fabulous! He never failed to amazed his fans, not only by his good and very cool music, but also with his fashion sense! The outfit really made him looks so vibrant that night! It's dazzling and shining so bright! Everyone is attracted! Well, Lil Nas X proved that pink fits no gender.
Tumblr media
Cardi B.
The Grammy winner, who skipped out on the 2020 Grammy Awards red carpet, joined forces with Mugler designer Casey Cadwallader and her stylist, Kollin Carter, to create a custom-made nude dress embellished with an array of crystals and a cascading train. Cardi paired the look with a custom-made Gismondi 1754 necklace featuring 310 carats of white diamonds. Who's making bloody moves and the hottest in the street? Yes, it's the singer of Bodak Yellow and you prolly heard of her! She's none other than, Cardi B! She really did became the hottest among all last Grammy Awards night. Cardi B stepped out with her glam and very hot look during the event. She wore a jaw-dropping Thierry Muggler gown featuring floor-length long sleeves which gave a dramatic effect. Her stunning beige long gown is covered with crystals. Her gown's texture is also smooth and the fabric is very thin which revealed her sexiness that pointed out each and every curve she have. It's really head-turning! Everyone will love Cardi B with that style! She also accessorized herself with diamond earrings, a shimmering choker necklace and bracelets. Everything on her is very pleasant and attractive. Cardi B is really awesome in terms of fashion!
Tumblr media
John Legend and Chrissy Teigen
John Legend, together with his stunning wife, Chrissy Teigen, walked the red carpet on Grammys. John Legend was wearing a light gray suit that featured a stylish half-pleated blazer giving him a matured and very decent manly look. On the other hand, Chrissy Teigen looks very astonishing with her orange Yanina Couture gown that featured a deep-V and dramatic sleeves that made her have a very authentic aura with power and grace. She partenered it with her glowing orange clutch which adds elegance with her. The two looked very amazing together with their outfits that still matches today's fashion and giving off cool and strong ambiance.
Tumblr media
Shawn Mendes
No one wears color like Shawn Mendes, and the singer didn't disappoint in a magenta Louis Vuitton suit on the 2020 Grammy red carpet. Though he of course looked dapper as usual, we noticed that Camila Cabello was nowhere in sight.
Shawn Mendes is a very known male singer celebrity. He just heated up the red carpet last Grammy Awards. He walked in with his sharp look wearing a berry-colored Louis Vuitton suit and pants, and a pair of French Label's sleek black boots. His outfit gave him a very warm and alluring image that made his fans talked non-stop about it. His suit fitted him so well, showing his well-structured body and his masculinity. Having said that, fashion isn't just for women, but also for men. Shawn Mendes really proved it.
Tumblr media
Dua Lipa
The singer was one of the last to arrive, sliding in before the bell in a white silk two-piece. Her skirt was a mid-waisted maxi slip skirt, paired with a bustier-style top featuring a draped front, from designer Alexander Wang. Dua’s jewelry and hair completed the retro vibe: She wore a single-strand diamond choker and matching line bracelet; her hair was pulled back in a topknot with two elongated bangs pulled out to the front, parted in the middle. We get a little Cher Horowitz, a little Paris Hilton, and a little Kate Moss, all rolled into one.
Dua Lipa gave off a 90's vibe with her silky white two-piece outfit last Grammy Awards night. She rocked the night by pulling off her dress and walking with great confidence. Dua Lipa looks very sexy and sophisticated with her outfit. Her outfit is very simple but very elegant in its own way. Only Dua Lipa can pull off such a simple outfit like that. She also received a lot of praises and compliments coming from her fans and from the other artists. The outfit gave her a perfect curve to reveal her body edges that made her stand out.

Grammys 2020: Winners and Highlights
Jam-packed with iconic music moments, the 62nd Grammy Awards just commenced yesterday night. Taking place at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles, the program featured some anticipated debuts and several tribute performances about Kobe Bryant’s sudden, tragic passing.
It started with Lizzo singing ‘Cuz I Love You’ and then ‘Truth Hurts’, which she followed by an opening statement for the night: “Tonight is for Kobe.” That’s when Alicia Keys, who was hosting the awards, took the stage to say, “Here we are together, on music’s biggest night, celebrating the artists that do it best but to be honest with you, we’re all feeling crazy sadness right now because earlier today, Los Angeles, America and the whole wide world lost a hero.” Boyz II Men then joined her to perform ‘It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye.’
Tumblr media
On another emotional note, Camila Cabello came down a flight of stairs and sang ‘First Man’ to her father, Alejandro Cabello, while her childhood photos appeared on the screen. His reaction was special as he cried and hugged her after the performance. Most viewers said it resonated with them and reminded them of the Bryant family.
Tumblr media
Performing his hit country trap song ‘Old Town Road’, Lil Nas X shared the stage with K-pop band BTS, Billy Ray Cyrus and 13-year-old Mason Ramsey for an epic performance. The beautiful merging of cultures and generations was one for the books.
Tumblr media
Demi Lovato also debuted ‘Anyone’, the song she wrote only days before her overdose. In the middle of performing, Lovato choked up and then started singing again from the beginning, which got her a standing ovation from an understanding audience. This was also the first time for her to perform on stage since the overdose in 2018. Can you believe the extent to which this night was a rollercoaster?

Billie Eilish sweeps the Grammys with brother Finneas, is youngest Album of the Year winner in awards’ history - music
Tumblr media
The edgy, avant-pop album that siblings Billie Eilish and Finneas created in a small bedroom made a big splash at the 2020 Grammy Awards, winning 11 honours for the musical family. When We All Fall sleep, Where Do We Go?-- created in the musicians’ Los Angeles home — helped Eilish win the top four honours, including album, song and record of the year, along with best new artist. The 18-year-old is the young artist to achieve the feat. Eilish, an 18-year-old newcomer with a unique sound, won for her debut studio album "When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?" while her hit single "Bad Guy" was named record of the year and song of the year. In all, she took home five awards. She is only the second person, and the youngest, to win all four top Grammys on the same night.Eilish, distinguished by her green hair and baggy clothes, recorded the album with her brother Finneas in the bedroom of their Los Angeles home. Finneas also won the Grammy for non classical producer of the year. They seemed taken aback by their Grammy haul, which saw them triumph over established stars including Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande and rapper Post Malone. Also read: Grammy 2020 Awards Live: Billie Eilish wins first Grammy, Lizzo honours Kobe"We didn't make this album to win a Grammy. We wrote about depression and suicidal thoughts and environmental change," Finneas said as the pair accepted the awards. "We stand up here confused and grateful." Asked backstage what she would do next, Eilish said, "Being in this moment is all I'm thinking about... I'm gonna do whatever I feel."The Grammy Awards show opened with a dedication to basketball star Kobe Bryant, who died in a helicopter accident earlier in the day and whose Los Angeles Lakers team has its home at the city's Staples Center and Grammy venue."We are literally standing here heartbroken in the house that Kobe Bryant built," said Grammy host Alicia Keys. "We never imagined in a million years we'd have to start the show like this." R&B star Lizzo won three of her eight nominations, while gay black country rapper Lil Nas X took two for his viral Old Town Road collaboration with Billy Ray Cyrus.Lil Nas X, 20, wearing a cowboy hat and silver lure suit, and country singer Billy Ray Cyrus dazzled the house with a kitschy performance of their viral collaboration Old Town Road, with contributions from stars ranging from K-Pop band BTS to young yodeler Mason Ramsey."He told the world he was gay and overnight he became an inspiration and a role model for hundreds of young people around the world," comedian Ellen DeGeneres, who is also gay, said as she introduced Lil Nas X.Grande performed a medley of hits from her break-up album Thank u, Next, including 7 Rings and Imagine but won none of the five Grammys for which she was nominated.Slain rapper Nipsey Hussle, 33, who was gunned down in his Los Angeles neighborhood last year, won two Grammys and was honored in a tribute by John Legend, DJ Khaled and rapper Meek Mill.Blake Shelton and his fiancee Gwen Stefani held hands as they debuted their new romantic duet Nobody But You, while Camila Cabello sang her recent single First Man to her tearful father in the audience. Demi Lovato won a standing ovation in her first performance at a major awards show since a drugs overdose in 2018.The Grammy winners are chosen by members of the Recording Academy, which is currently embroiled in a dispute over the departure of its new chief executive Deborah Dugan and her allegations of conflicts of interest in the nominations process. How to watch, who’s performing, who was snubbed and more
CLOSE
Tumblr media
It’s already been a big year for 18-year-old Billie Eilish who was just announced to perform at the Grammy Awards and received 6 Grammy nominations.
USA TODAY
Brace yourself, Billie Eilish and Lizzo fans: The 2020 Grammy Awards are shaping up to be a big night.
The Grammys are quickly approaching, and this year’s ceremony looks like it’ll live up to its rep as “Music’s Biggest Night.”
Will “Bad Guy” singer Eilish come out on top? Will Lizzo leave feeling “Good As Hell” with trophies in hand? Will Lil Nas X land some wins, or will the “Old Town Road” rapper be left in the dust? Oh, and when is it again?
From the breakout nominees to the surprising snubs, here’s everything you need to know going into this year’s Grammys.
What time are the Grammys?
The show will broadcast live from Los Angeles’ Staples Center on Sunday, Jan. 26. It airs on CBS at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
How can I watch the Grammys on TV or online?
Well, if you have regular TV, on CBS. If you don’t, the show is available for streaming on CBS All Access and on live TV packages through services such as YouTube TV and Hulu live TV.
You can stream all the red carpet arrivals on Grammy.com.
Notable 2020 Grammy nominees
Lizzo received the most nominations – eight, including album (“Cuz I Love You”), record and song (“Truth Hurts”) of the year. She’s followed by Lil Nas X and Eilish, who are tied with six nods each. Artists with five nominations include Ariana Grande, H.E.R. and Finneas O’Connell.
Eilish, 18, joins Lizzo, 31, in the album of the year category with her genre-bending, critically acclaimed debut “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” The trend-setting teen, whose music has amassed more than 15 billion combined streams across platforms, is also up for record and song of the year for No. 1 hit “Bad Guy.” That makes her the youngest nominee in Grammy history to be nominated in all four major categories, according to the Recording Academy.

Lil Nas X, 20, whose real name is Montero Hill, is similarly up for best album with his eight-song debut “7.” “Old Town Road,” his country-rap collaboration with Billy Ray Cyrus that topped the charts for a record-breaking 19 consecutive weeks this summer, is nominated for best pop/duo group performance, and his follow-up single “Panini” is up for best rap/sung performance.
Grande’s five nods include record (“7 Rings”) and album of the year (“Thank U, Next”). The best album category is rounded out by Bon Iver’s “I, I,” Lana Del Rey’s “Norman F***ing Rockwell,” H.E.R.’s “I Used to Know Her” and Vampire Weekend’s “Father of the Bride.”

Who got snubbed?
Though this year’s nominations shined a light on new artists, established favorites, such as Taylor Swift and Bruce Springsteen, were left in the dark.
10-time Grammy winner Swift made history in 2016 by becoming the first female artist to win album of the year twice, for “1989” and “Fearless” (a feat managed a year later by Adele, with “25” and “21”). Swift’s Grammys streak has slowed: Her divisive “Reputation” earned just one nod in 2018 for best pop vocal album, and this year, she garnered only three nominations, including song of the year for “Lover.”
Her critically beloved album “Lover” failed to land a best album nod but showed up in best pop vocal album. Her pro-LGBTQ anthem “You Need to Calm Down” eked out a nomination for best pop solo performance but missed out on record of the year.

Similarly, 20-time winner Springsteen has been a reliable Grammy presence since 1984 and was honored in 2013 by the Recording Academy’s charity arm as MusiCares Person of the Year. The Boss returned this summer with the country-tinged “Western Stars,” which marked his first album of solo material since 2012’s “Wrecking Ball.” Voters didn’t welcome him back with open arms, snubbing “Western Stars” and Springsteen entirely.

Who’s hosting the Grammys?
After hosting the 2019 Grammys, Alicia Keys is back and ready to take on the gig for the second year in a row. With 15 Grammy wins, Keys is certainly qualified.
“It’s almost like a marathon: You can’t just run a marathon (once),” Keys said of her desire to host a second time. “I feel like now, more than ever, I’m familiar with the space on multiple levels. It’s going to be an exciting, inclusive, beautiful experience, and that’s what I want to create.”

Who’s performing?
This year’s Grammys should be a big night for Eilish and Lizzo, not just because of their nominations but also because they’ll each make their Grammys stage debuts.
Demi Lovato will also take the stage, marking her first live performance since she was hospitalized after a possible drug overdose in 2018.
“I told you the next time you’d hear from me I’d be singing,” Lovato wrote on Instagram Tuesday, along with the announcement.
Also returning to the show is Grande, who didn’t attend last year after a dispute with Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich.
Ehrlich will be honored in a tribute performance Sunday featuring artists involved in his 40-year career. Performers will include Camila Cabello, John Legend, Cyndi Lauper and Ben Platt, among others.
Power couple Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani will perform together at the show for the first time. Additionally, Billy Ray Cyrus, Lil Nas X, BTS, Diplo and more will join forces for an “Old Town Road All-Stars” performance.
Aerosmith, Run-D.M.C, Charlie Wilson, Bonnie Raitt, Camila Cabello, H.E.R., the Jonas Brothers, Rosalía and Tyler, The Creator will all also take the stage.
Sunday’s show will also pay tribute to rapper Nipsey Hussle, who was shot to death outside his Marathon clothing store in the South Los Angeles neighborhood where he was from in March 2019. DJ Khaled, John Legend, Roddy Ricch, Kirk Franklin, Meek Mill and YG will honor Hussle’s legacy with a performance. The late rapper is nominated for three awards this year including best rap song.
Who’s presenting?
Famous faces set to hand out the golden gramophones include Trevor Noah and Jim Gaffigan, who are both nominated for Best Comedy Album, as well as Brandi Carlile and Tanya Tucker, who are also set to perform.
Also presenting are previous Grammy winners Common, Cynthia Erivo, Dua Lipa, Billy Porter, Smokey Robinson, Shania Twain, Keith Urban and Stevie Wonder, as well as past Grammy nominees Ava DuVernay and Bebe Rexha.
Music industry titans Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne will also hand out trophies.
How are the Grammy Awards different this year?
This year’s Grammys will have more women, people of color and young people choosing who wins.
Responding to criticism that the awards show has lacked diversity among nominees and winners, the Recording Academy invited 900 members to join the voting body, emphasizing women, people of color and those under the age of 39, or some combination of the three.
Who will be honored at Grammy Awards events?
Grammys fun kicks off way before the main awards show begins.
One of the most famous lead-up events is record producer Clive Davis’ star-studded pre-Grammys gala, held this year on the Saturday night before the show.
At this year’s gala, three-time Grammy winner Sean “Diddy” Combs will be recognized as the 2020 Grammy Salute to Industry Icons honoree for his 25-year career in the music industry.
The Friday before the Grammys, rock band Aerosmith will be honored as the 2020 Person of the Year for MusiCares, the Recording Academy’s charity for musicians in critical financial need. The band earned the title for their philanthropy and impact on music history.
They will be honored with a tribute concert featuring Gary Clark Jr., Alice Cooper, Foo Fighters, H.E.R., the Jonas Brothers, Emily King, John Legend, John Mayer and Yola, among others.
The Tuesday after the Grammys, late music icon Prince will be honored with an all-star tribute concert featuring Beck, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Chris Martin, Usher, H.E.R., the Foo Fighters, Earth, Wind & Fire and others.
