Honestly I'm astounded that nobody has taken that name yet.
Do you dislike the look of vanilla Skyrim horses? Are you tired of riding some kind of Clydesdale/Belgian/Cob thing around fantasy Scandinavia for no clear reason? Do you want your beloved and loyal horse to stand out from the crowd as much as you do? Well great news, this mod covers all of those things.
Basically I made some significant edits to the horse model including a fuller, longer mane and tail, redone feathering, somewhat more realistic conformation, and entirely redone ears because at a certain point it was just easier to make new ones. None of the changes affect how the horse fits the vanilla rig so it still bends and moves without distorting weirdly. The textures are entirely painted from scratch and have new normals to go with them that are meant to give the horses a somewhat softer, more natural look that still fits with Skyrim's general vibe. I used references of primarily North Swedish and Dole horses, but also borrowed from the wider range of colors and patterns in Icelandics because I couldn't give up the pintos.
Current Features:
Asymmetrical coats/markings, because I fully redid the UV while I was messing with the mesh (mostly because mirrored pinto horses in video games are the bane of my existence)
Distinct meshes for mares and stallions, the mare model is closer to the vanilla horse's conformation, while the stallion model has a slightly bulkier build and thicker neck, and a an unobtrusive low poly dong.
Five generic solid-coated textures that appear on most NPC horses in the world.
Unique texture for each purchasable player horse
Unique texture and model for Frost (he's now a mealy chestnut as his papers claim)
Unique Shadowmere
Unique Karinda (this mod does NOT add Karinda into the game, but her texture should show up if you have CRF or another mod that does add her, as long as it doesn't alter her texture or base model)
Unique Hearthfire stable horses (purchasable through the steward)
Unique unsaddled stable horse in Markarth because uh, I just felt like it
Unique coats for a growing number of modded follower horses (see the mod page for the list)
Future plans: see the mod page
Compatibility:
This mod should be compatible with just about everything, as long as it doesn't also change the colors or models of the horses. It should also work with any version of Skyrim SE/AE. It is NOT compatible with Immersive Horses, because IH uses its own horse models and textures.
I will not personally be making patches for other mods because there's no way I could possibly keep up with that and I'd rather spend the time and energy on the mod itself, however I encourage anyone else who wants to to make whatever patches are needed. Please message me if you do so I can link them here for people to find.
Huge thanks to SassiestAssassin, who has been an incredible help in navigating the learning curve of editing nifs (and is continuing to be a huge help with solving my inability to make patches), and also has a lot of fantastic mods you should check out.

Work-in-Progress Wednesday
We're starting on a brand new chapter and getting closer to putting two grumpy old men in a room together. If you feel the ground vibrating, that's just me due to the excitement.
Tagging: @oblivions-dawn @dirty-bosmer @bougainvillea-and-saltwater @inkysqueed @skyrim-forever @vivifriend @umbracirrus @pitiable-arisen @changelingsandothernonsense @archangelsunited @ladytanithia @bostoniangirl21 (If you saw me tag you later, no you didn't. I am at work and my brain isn't functioning properly. Also, Tumblr is a Hellsite and giving me problems with tags. Idk what’s up. So sorry if you get double tagged.)
A heavy sigh falls from her lips, and she doesn’t even realize Ulfric is talking to her until he is in front of her.
“Do you think we should stop now?” He looks at his wife with worried eyes. He is no fool and can see the wheels turning in her gaze—thoughts in much the same direction he suspects. “She’s fine. We’re fine.” Ulfric reaches out a hand to her as he helps her dismount.
“I know that.” She chews on her bottom lip as she looks up at the painted skies. She had missed this. There is nothing more beautiful than Skyrim and her color-drenched canopies. “And this is as good of a spot as any. Ask Galmar if he approves.”
Ulfric nods and squeezes her hand before turning to wave at his housecarl.
Looking around her, she observes the last remnants of the Pale’s forests before it breaks its way into Whiterun plains. Evergreen and spruce boughs sprawl from every direction which will cover their camp from any passersby. At the very least, it will certainly make Galmar happy.
She sighs. It had taken a lot of convincing and eventually Ulfric threatening to leave him behind in the Palace before he begrudgingly agreed to accompany them along with a small group of hand-picked guards to make the journey. In his opinion, this entire trip is a waste of time and resources, and honestly, she is certain that Ulfric thinks so as well.
“So, this is where we make camp?” Galmar’s voice interrupts her thought as he and five other men trudge past her. “I suppose it will do as much as the next spot. Better here than out on the open fields. No cover there.” He sniffs before spitting onto the ground. “We will have to ride out early to avoid spending more time watching our backs than waggling our tongues with Kings in Rags.”
Dahlia rolls her eyes as she ignores the pointed comment. It is not anything that she didn’t already know or at least that he hadn’t mentioned at least ten times since leaving the gates of Windhelm. “It is good to know that your support is as unswerving as the knot in your beard.”

Hey, I've been really enjoying looking at your posts! I'm trying to start modding the Sims 2 to be medieval too and I was wondering if you had any recommended custom content or mods or anything.
Hey! Omg totally, I'd love to share. You are too kind!!
This blog started as a way for me to keep track of my own stories, honestly. I play with the intention of creating stories for my own enjoyment, and if others find them compelling that is great! That said, I typically don't play with a ton of CC. Enough to immerse me. A lot of the time, I still use base game hairs, play maxis careers, etc. I can look past a lot of things because it is just my silly little game. Info under the cut so as not to bungle up or spam anyone's feed!
I do have a decent amount of build/buy CC and clothing CC. I have gotten a lot of it from Plumbob Keep! I have spent hours just looking through all the stuff in Sundry Goods and Wares, which is their forum for any CC -- clothing, wall paints, objects, you name it. I only got what I felt was necessary to immerse myself, like I said, and have found myself looking for specific other sets to accommodate specific story needs. For example, I rolled a random event that a fucking WAR has started, so now I need some cc bandages and what not. Generally, I like looking for The Sims Medieval conversions and Skyrim conversions. I also have gotten a lot of clothing for my medieval hood and my game in general from Skell. They have done so much work repo-ing and recoloring existing Maxis meshes in a way that doesn't gunk up your CC folder and fits seamlessly with the game. A lot of my other CAS CC (hair, accessories, makeup) comes from DeeDee! I really like their maxis matchy style and the high saturation of their color pallets.
I also use a set of defaults. I have a separate folder of my default replacements labeled "DR Medieval" that I swap in when I'm about to play my medieval hood. Things like plate and bowl recolors, aspiration failure objects, etc. Almighty Hat has some great ones.
I do play with a decent bit of mods, most of which just make the game run properly -- thing things like the nounlinkondelete, smarter EP check, etc. The rest are for my own benefit and storytelling, such as the 3-2 traits project! A lot of my gameplay mods come from MidgeTheTree. Usually I'm looking at mods that expand supernatural sims to make them more fun to play (more witch spells, more plantsim shenanigans, plantsim wings to make them look like fairies, alien telepathy, hereditary supernaturalism...the list goes on) and romance/queer mods. The latter is more to make my game a little more realistic and a bit more aligned with the relationships I like to see in stories. Not in a graphic sense, but more in a "I want my queer sims to have found family, my trans sims to have reproductive autonomy, and my gay sims to marry instead of being civilly joined" type thing.
For medieval specifically, I have a few of the Sun & Moon Star Factory Mods installed. They have A LOT and it is a little overwhelming at times to be honest -- I can't imagine playing with all of their amazing sets. But, some of them are crucial to my medieval immersion -- I want my sims to have a chicken or two, and to farm, and to craft. Many of them require other sets to run, or so they say -- usually this just means a texture from another pack is required, or a core function like collecting/autonomous behavior comes from a different mod. Often times you can do without some of the required mods of theirs -- for example, I have their fishing mod, and their guide says it requires the mining mod. I have no need for a mining mod now but might in the future, so for the time being I only downloaded the physical objects I needed to run that mod -- I need this bucket or whatever, and I'll delete the rest of the mod.
I also rely heavily on random events and dice rolls, tabletop RPG style, to form my gameplay. My sims are not, for example, actually going to kill each other in war. But I AM going to roll, "ok, what are the odds that this day goes in their favor?" Usually this looks like me writing my own scenarios and assigning them numbers/chances to roll, or sometimes I use other people's ROS, like Fir3Princ3ss' medieval ROS doc.
I hope this is helpful! I know it's a lot of info lol, but I tried my best to include links to creators I like. I just try to have fun with it and have a minimal impact on my game folders!

🤘🏻Introduction!🤘🏻
Notice: This is slightly outdated new intro should be pinned
Warning: Flashing/blinking gifs This is my introduction + rules for requests!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sup, my name is Kayden and I am a guitarist, metalhead, programmer, Skater, and artist!
I am 16 years old plus a professional Gemini!!
If you wanna join me and my friends' server use the link below!
I mainly chill and draw all day, or sleep all day, or talk to people all day, or look at the wall all day, it truly just depends on the day man. I love talking to people too, so don't be shy to talk to me because I'm always looking for new people to talk to and be friends with!! also here is my Carrd https://bivh.carrd.co
Tumblr media
I love to listen to music, if you can't tell. I am especially fans of nu metal, black metal, heavy metal, glam metal/hair bands, hard rock, alternative rock, punk rock, and classic rock! Iron Maiden, Korn, Metallica, Rob Zombie, Murderdolls, Nine Inch Nails, and Slipknot are my current favorites!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also love to play my guitar, it's an Epiphone SG Special, cherry red color. I love to play and it's one of my few hobbies!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm super into learning about and collecting photos of my favorite bands/band members, I especially am into Joey Jordison as of right now. I have over 100 photos of him and I think my favorite pictures of him are ones taken during his time in Murderdolls.
Tumblr media
I'm also an artist, more of a cartoonist. Digital art is my thing, I am shit when it comes to painting, sculpting, sewing, using charcoal, and anything else like that. Cartooning has been my thing since I was 12 and I plan to continue with it since I haven't stopped. I also have characters and write stories and lore for them, I plan to work on a comic when I get my art style down and have the time. I also do requests!! rules for requests:
Nothing 18+ (nudity and sexual) this includes any fetish or kink material, I probably won't draw heavy gore for requests just because it might make me a little uncomfortable to draw that for someone else, I also won't draw animals/pets/"feral" characters (I just don't have the skills for that yet).
But I can draw characters from a show, your ocs, honestly anything.
I have the right to decline/ignore your request, these are free and I do them on my own time, thank you!!!!
Tumblr media
I also love playing video games, specifically Minecraft, Fallout 4, Skyrim, Gmod, and TF2. I also have Pesterquest + Hiveswap which I read sometimes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm also in some fandoms, gee imagine that. I like Breaking Bad, a lot actually, I also like Homestuck (Pesterquest and the canon comic), Fallout 4, old Disney Movies (Aristocats, Lady and the Tramp, 101 Dalmatians, Bambi, etc), Suicide Squad, Evil, Beavis and Butthead, Rick and Morty, Family Guy, American Dad, Futurama, Bojack Horseman, Beastars, Q*bert, Disenchantment, and others. Sollux is literally me IRL, idk how some asshole stole my identity and turned it into a character but they did and somehow got away with it.
Tumblr media
I'm always open to talk to new people plus make friend, I'm actually hella lonely and need better people in my life! Thanks for reading!!

Introductory Post!
Hello, and welcome to my tiny corner of the Internet!
I'm Weirdo, or if it makes you feel uncomfortable to call me that, you can call me Kate.
Fun facts about me:
I'm 29. Pisces sun, Aquarius moon, Virgo rising, for those that enjoy astrology like I do.
My favorite color is blue, but I also enjoy green and purple. My favorite nail polish color is black. Specifically OPI Black Onyx, has the best coverage with minimal streaks.
I have a few hobbies, namely: writing, drawing, painting, crocheting, reading, and baking. This list will grow as I try more things (it's one of my resolutions for this year).
Favorite video games: Fallout (4 holds a special place in my heart), Skyrim, Bioshock series, The Sims (3 is my favorite), Stardew Valley.
Currently playing: Close To The Sun, and nearly crapping myself with every jumpscare (I don't do horror too well).
Favorite anime: Inuyasha, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, Demon Slayer. Love anything historical. A guilty pleasure I watch once a year is High School of the Dead. (I like zombie apocalypse stuff) Last watched: The Heike Story.
I am very introverted by nature, but I'm working on trying to reach out and make friends again.
When I attended college, I was a fine art major first. When the strict discipline started killing my creativity, I switched to history.
I listen to a wide variety of music, anywhere from classical to modern. Genre doesn't really matter, just whatever tickles the brain skrunkles. Recommendations are always welcome.
Might add some more to this later. Feel free to ask a question or stop by and say hi!

SO Thanks to some help, I was able to make some custom skin for my character, I did the painting process all on my own by using photos, but <:c Skyrim enjoys crashing so it'll be a little while before I can put it in game. You can make skins in Procreate by using the smudge tools and filling the background with a light / same skin color, tumoral coming soon for that!

More Skyrim thoughts:
Immediately after joining the Volkihar vampires, two of them sent assassins after me. 10/10 for the perfect drow experience, really makes me feel like I'm just at home.💙
Ronthil sleeping behind the bookcase when everyone else gets a coffin and there are clearly enough for him pushes my 'pathetic wet cat' blorbo button. I may decide to use one of my mods to recruit him as a follower and move him to my castle once this questline is over.
Garan Marethi has peak Kimmuriel energy. He is 100% done with everyone's shit and I am here for it. Can't wait to kill Harkon and take over the castle while wearing the most outlandish and colorful and flashy stuff I can possibly wear. Will he approve? Ehhhh probably not. Will it annoy the shit out of him? Absolutely. What are friends for?
Feran Sadri kinda reminds me of Gromph a liiiiitle bit? I mean, if I really squint... eh. He's an asshole but he's funny. I will spare him when I inevitably clean house at the end of the questline.
Also Hestla's a former Companion! One of these days I wanna write a post about how much more tragic the Companions actually are in Skyrim, since you can run into several ex-Companions and it paints such an interesting and sad picture of the faction. For now I'll just lol at her being like "hahaha the Companions said I'm weak but now I'm a vampire and I'm STRONG!" while knowing that I could kill her with a fucking sneeze.
Serana and Astarion would be so interesting if they got to meet. I'll bet they'd be friends.
Orthjolf and and Vingalmo are assholes, but what else is new? Anyway, they gave me a good laugh with their half-assed assassination attempt, but they're definitely first on my list for when I decide to clean house after getting rid of Harkon. B+ for effort, though, since they did remind me a bit of Menzoberranzan's politics and I really appreciated that.

OC character design asks! Pick 5 or 6 of these for your new OC in your fic and tell me as much as you want under those categories :D
This is a delight of an ask, thank you!
glance: At first glance, what stands out most about your OC's appearance? What's their distinguishing feature?
Saathel is not the type of mer others fail to register. She stands out, unless she is expressly attempting to blend in. Maybe it's her being a Bosmer, short for most Skyrim residents, maybe it's her refusal to wear any plant-derived fibers, maybe it's her sharp features and row of teeth filed to be pointy, longer than expected from mer... who knows?
face: Describe your OC's face. What's their smile like? Are their orbs cerulean? What would someone notice first when looking at them?
Angular, sharp, and deep. Her gaze has a peculiar garnet color, pupils that seem to resemble a frog's, shaped like a cross, following a quirk shared by some Valenwood Bosmer. There's always face paint adorning it, oftentimes organic patterns, sometimes darkening her eyesockets. Her teeth grow constantly, another quirk of her people, and have been filed into a sharp point, a process which must be repeated every few months to keep them in check. Luckily, most of it can be worn down naturally by gnawing on bones in a pinch. The trademark of her family is a strip of bare skin on her eyebrows, right at the peak. It is said that the Broken-brows are such excellent marksmer that they developed that strip to better accomodate a bowstring when drawn.
canvas: Does your OC have any scars, piercings, tattoos, or other markings? Do they display or cover them up at all?
Fullbody paint often marks her, but there's nothing on the way of tattoos. One of her ears has a notch, which seems to have been the result of a fight. On her back and side are a few claw scars.
arms: Does your OC have any weapons? What weapons do they carry, and how do they wear them when they're not fighting?
A bow made of bone and antler, treated with a solution of chemicals well known by Bosmer to supply flexibility to collagen tissue after blood flow is cut off. It is strapped to a thick leather quiver with a compartment for arrows. She uses hatchets and knives too, and those are held by her belt.
change: Has your OC ever drastically changed their appearance? Significant haircuts, big tattoos, complete wardrobe swap, etc? Why? How do they feel about the change?
Saathel has changed many times. She embraces the Wolf, even if others don't.

Athis/Reader Introduction
Note: I usually keep my Reader/Character works to the Arcane fandom, but I want to see what people thought of this-
Athis/Modern Character in Skyrim: 1256wds. Dunmer reader
This wasn’t your face, and those weren’t your eyes.
When you imagined Tamriel, it was always with the low-quality pixels of a game a decade past its release.  Even with mods, the best you hoped for was ultra-smooth hair and glowing skin.
              This, this was real.
You pressed your fingers into your skin, watching as it lightened to an ashy color. You eased the pressure and blood rushed in- making it a blue-grey. You had never seen any skin that did not have the base color of brown- light or dark.
You tilted your head, letting the person in the mirror stare back at you. They were curious- you traced the way your face wrinkled, the only familiar sight in this world.
Then, of course, one of your ears flickered slightly, and the illusion of who you were was upset again.
They had found you in the river, draped over a rock. You imagine you looked like Odysseus, stranded on the shores of Ogygia- and there was no Calypso to show mercy, nor Hermes to speak on your behalf.
Were you supposed to be Calypso? Your eyes were dark, staring from the mirror, back at you. Were you trapped? Your chest moved with each breath, and the roughspun fiber that was considered clothing moved with it.
You placed your hands on your chest, the unfamiliar mounds were new and unwanted. You could feel your heart beat, slowly.
It was too much. You stood up, quickly turning to avoid the mirror. You were barefoot, your soles soft in a way they hadn’t been since you crawled. Each step was agony- but you had no boots. Your feet needed to be hardened.
You had been given clothes, but the hospitality that had leant you a few moments with a mirror, did not lend you a bed. You walked, slowly through the streets of Whiterun. Everything was familiar, in the way a photograph of a dead relative was familiar to a child who had never met the person in the photograph. The child might be able to say- yes, that is aunt so-and-so, but they would not know them, nor would they think such a situation would ever come up.
              No one looks at you.
You need a bed, you need coin. You cannot beg. A child with blond hair is asking for coin and an old man as well. No one looks at them either.
You look at the shops, feeling troubled. You watch unfamiliar bare feet kick up dust on the way to the shop that lets the beggars sit under the awning. You walk inside and see an older woman, face creased with age. She asks you to leave.
You beg one question of her.
              She looks puzzled but agrees.
“What flowers do you need,” you ask. Your voice is unused and unfamiliar. “And what parts of the flowers are important?”
              <<>><<>><<>><<>><<>><<>>
You walk barefoot out to the stream where you were found. You follow it down to the bridge, where you hear singing. It is the sound of sirens.
Hidden under the bridge is a bright, singing thing. It lures you to its side, not knowing the danger. Your feet are bleeding when you bring it to the alchemist. She looks it over, congratulates you on the prize, and offers you five gold.
              You demand fifteen.
              You take ten.
You go to the next shop over- you ask for a bag. You offer five gold for a half-rotted thing and a piece of leather. You line the bag with leather and you walk back out the gate.
Your feet paint the cobblestones red.
              <<>><<>><<>><<>><<>><<>>
The longer you live in the unfamiliar body, the more attuned you are to its idiosyncrasies. You hate it and adore it in equal fashion. It works. It does not look like it should. You do not understand why you are cold, and why fire does not warm you.
The callous you had earned did not travel with you. You can heal a scratch with a thought.
There is something worming under your skin, and you hope it is the magic.
               <<>><<>><<>><<>><<>>
You pick flowers. You wander farther and farther, filling your bag as you go. You drink from the streams. You buy bread each morning to munch on the way. This body likes bread.
You have a coin purse, now. You place half your money in it, the other half is divided in your undergarments. The chest is moderately useful, you decide. You will think on it no more.
You are as alone in the fields as you are in the walls of the city.
              <<>><<>><<>><<>><<>><<>>
Someone kills for you, one day. It is not the fight of Beowulf and Grendel. It is the fight of your nightmares, all the same.
There is a tiger, or a lion. You are too frightened to focus on anything but the rotting breath and stained teeth. The rumble of sound coming from its chest would be soothing, but it comes from muscle and sinew that is tense with the desire to kill. You still wish to press your hands to its chest and feel the sound.
You are frozen, hoping it moves away. Instead, it twists and turns. Each step getting closer and closer. You do not move as it wanders towards your back. You do not want to see death’s face, even with new eyes.
There is a sound. A crack and the slight give of a rotting fruit echo in your ears and a warm liquid sprays your back. You turn.
Behind you is someone whose eyes and skin echo yours, but whose dress copies the hunters. He is taller than you- and broader. You think you may have once been taller, but you are no longer- so it does not matter. He is well muscled, and there are white callouses on his hands.
He holds his hands out, like you are a wild animal. You think it should annoy you, but it amuses you instead.
He gives his name as Athis. You sound the name out on your tongue, letting it roll off like water.  You say you are pleased to meet him, and he replies he is pleased to meet you and asks who you are.
You say you are Calypso, then wince. He does not know the name.
He claims he knows you, though. He has seen you walk, barefoot, about Whiterun. You blink. You do not think you ever saw him, in the land not made of pixels. You knew who he was, you knew where he lived. You never walked near.
You ask him if he wants the teeth, and if not, could he help you remove them.
He does not smile, but he does help.
He walks with you. He stays by the river where you let the blood wash away. He walks through the streets with you. He stands behind you as you sell the flowers, as you sell the teeth.
You plan on sleeping under the tree, the benches were free at night. He pulls you further up.
You try and stop from going into the Companion’s Hall, with the unpronounceable name. He coaxes you. He offers food, bathing.
              He offers meat.
You take a step forward, and that is all the permission he needs. His hand grasps yours, gentle and tugging.
It is the first spot of warmth you have had in weeks. You nearly fall into him, but you restrain yourself to clutching his hand with both your own.

You can see it in a few homes in Whiterun in the game, but I think painting the interior and exterior of your home bright, cheerful colors is common in Skyrim. I think they're fond of yellow and blue in Riften, and red in Dawnstar. Some smaller settlements paint floral or geometric designs on the eaves and walls

Games that inspire my project
Diablo IV is the 4th game in a highly popular franchise and is a top down game that primarily uses melee weapons and magic which is similar to what I plan to implement into my game, it is a very unique game for its kind and is likely popular thanks to its hellish theme and engaging gameplay but also partly nostalgia being an established franchise for nearly 30 years giving it a loyal fanbase. Its hellish theme is exactly what I would like for some of my own environments and it enemy design is also similar to what I hope my own to be, Diablos artistic theme is one of the big draws for most people coming into the game and I hope to at least somewhat replicate that.
youtube
Hades is a Greek myth inspired highly unique gameplay experience both in its theme and genre having a unique combat system as well as emphasis on replay-ability and new runs, it also has a unique art style that is engaging and beautiful, being Greek myth themed and top down it is the same game concept I play to work on and I will take a lot of inspiration mainly on game mechanics. It also presents an almost pixelated theme but looks as if it is drawn and is highly colorful and really gives the vibe of a rogue like and of a Greek story.
youtube
Baldur's gate 3 is a recent game and newest of its franchise and was game of the year in 2023. And its no wonder why, having an extreme level of customization and unique experience for every player, it has a similar gameplay as Dungeons and Dragons which is another draw for most players, I plan to take inspiration in both in combat and artistry heavily for my own project. The game also has an almost cartoonish style despite its generally lifelike and serious theme in a lot of ways, most characters look like they might've been molded out of clay and painted afterwards which I find beautiful and would love for my own character designs
youtube
Castle crashers is a 2d entirely drawn side-scroller with a combat system entirely based around combos and blocking to both deal out and prevent damage as well as high maneuverability for a side scroller with jumps blocks and walls being potential considerations for your combos as well as a weapon system that implements different status points and effects based on the weapon you are using which are all combat aspects I want in my game especially a unique combo system. Its has a rather unique and less commonly seen art style with every single thing you see in the game being drawn and occasionally being drawn on the spot upon idea creation and is also very unique and colorful to look at and very well designed bosses items and environments in which there are tons of.
