About the election:
There was record voter turnout and record numbers of first time voters. This includes early voting.
It can take weeks to count all the ballots including mail-ins and absentees. There is no way the ballots were done being counted enough to call
AP called the race 8 hours after polls closed on the east coast. At the time the race was called, several states had only counted 40-85% of their ESTIMATED votes. AP says right under the election map that their results are based on demographic and statistical analysis of voting patterns in a district, not actual counts.

At the time the race was called, trump had only actually secured about 181 electoral votes. Kamala had secured 224. AP projected trump to win nearly 100 electoral votes he did not actually have at the time the race was called.
Thousands of ballots were thrown out for "signature verification" and over the past year, states have had court cases surrounding where polling places can be (my county shut refused to put in polling places for an entire town). Court cases surrounding legitimacy of absentee votes.
Polling places were shut down for hours at a time because of bomb threats or "technical issues" and the ones in PA opened back up after buses stopped running.
Several states refused federal oversight. Federal oversight of elections is standard practice. There was tampering with ballot boxes.
People have set fire to ballot drop boxes over the past few weeks.
AP called the election while results from many states--swing states specifically--were well within the margin of error, showing a less than 3% lead.
PA voters are currently getting emails saying their ballots were not counted.
Kamala would be the first democratic candidate this century to lose the popular vote. And by 6 million? High voter turnout generally goes in democrats favor. 3rd party votes were not enough to significantly split the vote.
Trump has said in no uncertain terms that he is a dictator and planned to take the election. He said it would be the last election the USA would have.
The Harris campaign rallies were absolutely packed. People were walking out of trumps rallies.
Tens of thousands of white men held phone banks for the harris campaign multiple times. Harris had strong social and political support. Fox News anchors even came to her defense multiple times.
There was confirmed Russian interference in the last 2 presidential elections.
Elon musk was buying votes.
Please, tell me how this whole thing is not suspicious as fuck.

đđđđ đđ: Harris Campaign allegedly using ActBlue for a money laundering scheme.
Reports indicate that $20 million from Swiss billionaire HansjĂśrg Wyss was broken down into over 1.6 million donations across 400,000 donors, raising serious questions about the legitimacy of these contributions....
Similar allegations have surfaced before. ActBlue has faced scrutiny for its donor verification processes, which some argue may permit illegal contributions and foreign money to flow into American political campaigns.
In recent years, the platform has been penalized for facilitating nearly $44,000 in illegal contributions and has been called out for not requiring standard security measures like CVV numbers for online donations.
Democrats at it again with dirty tricks to further destroy the integrity of our elections...
Reports of a lot of people making donations they never intended. Stay tuned.
If you're not familiar with the scam, they funnel money using the elderly and unsuspecting Democrat voters by using their information where they make donations under their information, without their knowledge to funnel money to Democratic candidates without the public or the Democrat voter knowing.
This is one of the biggest stories of the election.

State university in Brazil approves quotas for trans, transvestite and non-binary people
In a unanimously decision, undergraduate courses will have one to two places for this population

On Tuesday (1), the University Council of the State University of Campinas (Unicamp), in the state of SĂŁo Paulo, unanimously approved the creation of a quota system for trans, transvestite and non-binary people on the institutionâs undergraduate courses. Reservations will be available through the National High School Exam (Enem)-Unicamp notice and for both public and private school students.
The new policy establishes that undergraduate courses with up to 30 regular places must reserve at least one for the aforementioned population, while courses with 30 or more places must offer two. Academic units will decide whether these places will be regular or additional. If they are additional, there will be no obligation to fill them. In cases where places are withdrawn from open competition, half of them will be allocated to Black and Indigenous candidates.
Admission will be based on self-declaration accompanied by a life story, which will be assessed by a verification committee. According to Unicampâs Permanent Entrance Examination Commission (Comvest, in Portuguese), 279 candidates applied for the 2025 entrance exam under their social names, 40 of whom were invited. Visual Arts, Biological Sciences and Medicine were the top undergraduate courses in this group last year.

Rachel Leingang at The Guardian:
The Republican president is taking aim at a Democratic fundraising platform, issuing a presidential memorandum to crack down on supposed foreign contributions to elections, an unsubstantiated claim from the right.. Donald Trump announced the memo on Thursday, directing the attorney general to investigate, and report to the president, âconcerning allegations regarding the use of online fundraising platforms to make âstrawâ or âdummyâ contributions and to make foreign contributions to US political candidates and committees, all of which break the lawâ. ActBlue, the largest online donation platform on the left, has anticipated the presidential action. Its CEO and president, Regina Wallace-Jones, sent an email this week saying the organization expected an executive order targeting it, and that the threat of these investigations had âcaused many in the ecosystem anxiety and distressâ. âIf we look past rumors and innuendo, here is what we know to be true: Nothing will deter or interrupt ActBlueâs mission and work to enable millions of Americans to participate in our democracy,â she wrote. âThere is an ongoing and persistent effort to weaken the confidence of the American people in whatâs possible. This is the next version of âthe big lie.ââ
ActBlue is the main platform used to collect donations for Democratic candidates and causes. The move is among several actions the Trump administration has taken to âcripple the leftâ, the New York Times has reported, part of a âseries of highly partisan official actions that, if successful, will threaten to hobble Democratsâ ability to compete in elections for years to comeâ. The memo comes amid ongoing unsubstantiated claims on the right about the fundraising platform. Elon Musk has tweeted about ActBlue multiple times since Trump took office. âSomething stinks about ActBlue,â he said in one post. Republican lawmakers have called on the treasury department to investigate ActBlue. Representative Darrell Issa wrote to the treasury secretary, Scott Bessent, in March, saying the department should investigate whether ActBlue facilitated donations from âterror-linked organizations and non-profitsâ, based on reporting in rightwing media that the platform had cut ties with a Palestinian organization that advocates for divestment in Israel.
Congressman Bryan Steil, the chair of the committee on House administration, requested documents from ActBlue in October ârelated to the platformâs donor verification policies and potential vulnerabilities that foreign actors may exploit to illegally participate in the US political processâ. Those documents showed that the platform had updated its policies to automatically reject certain donations from gift cards and other avenues, Steil said. The organization has seen internal strife, the New York Times reported, leading to departures of senior officials. Republicans demanded more documents from ActBlue based on the departures, the paper reported. The attack on the fundraising platform comes as Democrats prepare efforts to win back majorities in Washington in the midterms. On Thursday, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) announced a plan to revitalize state Democratic parties by sending monthly donations from the national party to the states, with more funding going to red states.
Tyrant Trumpâs election-rigging memorandum that targets ActBlue is an authoritarian attack on fair elections that could make Democratic chances at winning elections more difficult. The memorandum is supposedly about âforeign contributionsâ but is in reality about legitimizing far-right conspiracy theories about ActBlue.

U.S. Recount Updates/News:
Pennsylvania's U.S. Senate race will officially go to a recount. GOP candidate David McCormick is leading incumbent Democratic Sen. Bob Casey by less than 0.5% in the vote total, triggering an automatic recount under state law.

Furthermore,
Election and cybersecurity experts sent a formal letter to Vice President Kamala Harris urging a recount in key states, citing potential breaches in voting machines and the fact that voting systems were breached by Trump allies in 2021 and 2022.

Cited evidence within the footnotes include:

Additionally,
The Nevada Secretary of State issued a violation notice regarding election security. A police report has been filed after evidence emerged indicating that Nevada officials may have removed 26,902 ballots from their reported mail-in ballot totals.

[ID:
Three images.
The first is a statement regarding a recount being triggered in the Pennsylvania Senate race. It reads:
âUnofficial Results in U.S. Senate Race Trigger Legally Required Automatic State Recount
Harrisburg, PA â Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt announced today that unofficial results in the Nov. 5 general election race for U.S.
Senate have triggered a legally required statewide recount.
Senator Bob Casey and Dave McCormick have vote totals within the one-half of 1 percent margin that triggers a mandatory recount under state law.
As of today, the unofficial returns for the U.S. Senate race submitted by all 67 counties show the following results for the top two candidates:
Robert P. Casey Jr. - 3,350,972 (48.50%)
David H. McCormick - 3,380,310 (48.93%)
Once counties finish counting their ballots, they must begin the recount no later than Wednesday, Nov. 20. They must complete the recount by noon on Nov. 26 and must report results to the Secretary by noon on Nov. 27. Results of the recount will not be published until Nov. 27.
The Department estimates that the recount cost will exceed $1 million of taxpayer funds.
This is the eighth time the automatic recount provision has been triggered since the passage of Act 97 of 2004. In the four cases in which the recount was carried out, the initial results of the election were affirmed. Those recounts and the costs for each were as follows:
2022 primary: Oz vs. McCormick, Republican race for U.S. Senate, $1,052,609.
2021 general: Dumas vs. Crompton, Commonwealth Court, $1,117,180.
2011 primary: Boockvar vs. Ernsberger, Democratic race for Commonwealth Court, $525,006.70.
2009 general: Lazarus vs. Colville vs. Smith, Superior Court race, $541,698.56.
For more information about the legally mandated automatic recount procedures, see the Department's directive on this topic (link.mediaoutreach.meltwater.com).
Update on outstanding ballot totals
As of this afternoon, county election officials reported there are 60,366 uncounted provisional ballots and 20,155 uncounted mail-in and absentee ballots. That 80,521 total includes all ballots for which county boards of elections have not yet made a final resolution regarding their validity or eligibility to be counted.
As of the issuance of this release, the Department's election returns page [link.mediaoutreach.meltwater.com] reflects the unofficial totals that counties have reported. These numbers will change beginning Thursday morning, Nov. 14, as counties continue to canvass provisional ballots and otherwise count ballots. These changes are unrelated to the recount.â
The second image depicts the first page of a formal letter addressed to Vice President Kamala Harris from election security experts urging an election recount in key states. It reads:
âNovember 13, 2024
The Honorable Kamala Harris
The White House
Office of the Vice President
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, N. W.
Washington, DC 20500
Dear Vice President Harris,
We write to alert you to serious election security breaches that have threatened the security and integrity of the 2024 elections, and to identify ways to ensure that the will of the voters is reflected and that voters should have confidence in the result. The most effective manner of doing so is through targeted recounts requested by the candidate. In the light of the breaches we ask that you formally request hand recounts in at least the states of Michigan, Nevada, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. We have no evidence that the outcomes of the elections in those states were actually compromised as a result of the security breaches, and we are not suggesting that they were. But binding risk-limiting audits (RLAs) or hand recounts should be routine for all elections, especially when the stakes are high and the results are close. We believe that, under the current circumstances when massive software breaches are known and documented, recounts are necessary and appropriate to remove all potential doubt and to set an example for security best practices in all elections.
In 2022, records, video camera footage, and deposition testimony produced in a civil case in Georgia' disclosed that its voting system, used statewide, had been breached over multiple days by operatives hired by attorneys for Donald Trump. The evidence showed that the operatives made copies of the softwareâ
(The page cuts off here).
Below there are footnotes with cited evidence for grounds to request a recount.

"There's no such thing as a useless degree! Learning is valuable for its own sake! If you think a degree program is 'useless' just because it doesn't lead to a job, you're an anti-intellectual capitalist who hates learning, creativity, and critical thinking!"
Okay, let me stop you right there, because this take annoys me every time: "learning" and "degrees" are two different things.
There can be many purposes to learning, including "for its own sake." You can learn things out of curiosity, or to enrich your life, or to challenge yourself, to further human knowledge, or to gain useful skills, or to become a more informed person! In general, cultivating an open-minded curiosity about the world can give you a more fulfilling life. Learning doesn't have to have a concrete goal or specific purpose.
The purpose of a degree is to be an official documentation to some external authority (usually an employer or regulatory agency) that someone has (at least theoretically) mastered a qualification.
There's no such thing as useless learning. There's no such thing as useless knowledge. There's no such thing as useless research. There's absolutely such a thing as a useless degree.
And look, as critical as I am of educational systems, standardized testing, lack of recognition of alternative ways of learning, etc., I absolutely think that degree requirements have their uses. I'm much more comfortable being operated on by a surgeon who graduated from an accredited medical school with a degree than by someone self-taught. Sometimes, when someone is assigned a task, you want actual proof that they've mastered the skill set needed for that task, and for want of a better system, a degree can be a useful proxy for that proof.
But unless you're training for a specific job or role that requires specific proof of a specific skill set, there's no actual logical reason that your learning journey should be in the form of a degree program.
"I have a degree in something completely unrelated to my job, but it's still worth it because I learned so much!"
Great, I love that for you, but unless you specifically need the actual degree credential for an external verification purpose, you could've learned just as much from a course of study not centered on a degree.
"I use my art history degree in my marketing job all the time!"
Unless you were specifically hired for your art history degree, what you mean is you use your art history knowledge in your marketing job -- which, again, great, but doesn't require a degree program.
"My boss said it looked good that I have a liberal arts degree because it shows I'm not just looking for money!"
That's Employer for "I assume you're independently wealthy and won't demand a living wage."
"But lots of employers just want employees to have a college degree in any field and they don't care what!"
Yeah. That's. That's the problem I'm objecting to. What logical sense does it make to want an employee who has A Skill, but be completely indifferent as to what skill or what relevance it does or doesn't have to the tasks they're being hired to do?
The only reasons an employer would consider a candidate with a college degree in an unrelated field to be more qualified than a candidate without a degree is: *because they think that someone who could spend ~$45000 and ~360 hours on something is in some way A Better Class Of Person than someone who couldn't (this is classism), or *because they think the cognitive skills involved in pursuing a degree reflect some kind of "general intelligence" indicative of being Good At Learning In General (this is ableism and let's be real, also classism).
There is no non-ableist, non-classist reason for jobs to require "a degree" that isn't a specific degree related to the skills of that specific job.
"But what about Critical Thinking Skills and Cultural Literacy and Being An Informed Citizen? These are things that everyone should learn, not just people training for a specific job!"
If these are skills that EVERYONE should learn, then they belong in K-12 education (the universal tier of education that's free and For Everyone). Why put it in the Optional, Extra level of schooling?
I mean, historically, the reason is that the "everyone" who needed a core college education didn't mean "everyone"; it meant "Everyone in the upper classes who would be the next generation of leaders and are more culturally and intellectually refined than the commoners." Obviously, the working classes don't need "critical thinking skills"; their simple peasant brains probably couldn't handle them anyway. (Again. Classism and ableism are always intertwined.)
And the impulse to "democratize" that by giving "everyone" the educational experience of the upper classes is like. Well-meaning I guess, but almost a microcosm of how "democratizing" elitist institutions without critically examining them leads to some wildly skewed conclusions. "Everyone" can't achieve the lifestyle of the upper classes by achieving the education of the upper classes, because the lifestyle and education of the upper classes is defined by and supported by a command relationship to the lower classes.
"That's why the U.S. should make college tuition free like in [other country]!"
Look, I agree, but that's only addressing one of the many problems here. Tuition isn't the only cost of college (in a capitalist system where time is money, the time commitment alone is expensive), and even if those costs were addressed (e.g. with a student stipend), "Everyone should have access to a useless degree" doesn't make the degrees any less useless, and doesn't address the central question: If not for a specific credential for a specific job/role/position, why does voluntary learning need to involve a degree program?
"But what if I want to get a degree as a personal challenge to myself to prove that I can?"
I mean, look, you do you, but I'll point out that I also do this, and I don't think it's a good thing. I've spent months agonizing over assignments -- not for a grade, but because I wanted my teacher to think I was Smart. And that is a hell of a thing to still be internalizing as a whole-ass middle-aged adult who's written many critiques of behaviorism. I think that impulse in me is a product of assessment-reward-punishment indoctrination, and I need to kill the teacher inside my head. I'm not saying that's true for you. But I'm also talking about how we talk about education as a social and public policy issue, which isn't necessarily about any given individual's personal goals.
"But if people only study what they want to study, they won't encounter new things that they don't know will enrich their lives! Degree programs require students to diversify and broaden their horizons!"
Do they? Sure, this happens sometimes (although, again, I think this is really the role of K-12 schooling), but I think the reverse happens even more often: The grading structure of degree programs actively penalizes students for "broadening their horizons" beyond the degree requirements. If you're taking a class for a degree program, but the class itself isn't required for the degree, you have a strong incentive not to take anything challenging that might bring down your GPA. I've dropped classes for that reason, which was an entirely rational choice on my part. If I'd been "learning for its own sake" and "broadening my horizons" outside the context of a graded degree program, I'd be much more likely to stick with a skill I'm mediocre at, and possibly progress at least from low-mediocre to passable. People are more willing to try things they're not good at if there aren't tangible material consequences for "failure."
"Okay but why are you writing such a long post about it? Yeah, we can all tell you've spent too long in school, because you won't shut up."
Because academic credentialism and the conflation of learning and "degree programs" is classist and ableist in both intent and effect. And the more Trump&Co. attack universities and professors and students and experts, the more progressives cling to academic credentialism out of reflexive contrarianism, and start screaming about how "anti-intellectualism" is a real problem we need to be worried about, and gifted kids are marginalized for being too smart, and it can be cool and progressive to insist that everybody but you is just intrinsically stupid, because you're pushing back against "anti-intellectualism"!
Because the cultural movement I hate most -- reclassifying young adults as children -- relies heavily on this framework of postsecondary degree programs as a Developmental Stage for Children in 13th-16th grade, and if you argue that students should actually have some autonomy in their voluntary educations that, not for nothing, they're paying for, people will scream that you're an anti-intellectual who hates learning for its own sake.
Because debates about things like the ethics of students cheating or using genAI or whatever to skip out on schoolwork get mired in endless circular arguments about what the purpose of grades and degrees even is supposed to be, between "Cheating and ChatGPTing your assignments is bad because you won't actually know how to do the skills you're theoretically being certified to do" vs. "A college degree is just a bullshit pointless hoop to jump through to get a bullshit pointless job, so who cares if you're 'really learning'?" vs. "But you're supposed to be learning for its own sake, not just trying to get a grade and a degree! This anti-intellectualism is why Trump won!" and it's all an incredibly pointless argument if there's no consensus on what the purpose of a degree program is or should be, or if people are insisting on conflating degree requirements with "learning for its own sake."

Three House committees have launched probes against the Democrat fundraising platform ActBlue over its questionable donor verification practices.
The investigations found that ActBlue changed its rules on verifying donors to make them âmore lenient,â Just the News reported.
The move allowed the platform to accept more foreign payments by allowing fraudulent donations to slip through the net.
Last year, Congress began investigating Act Blue over allegations about its rules.
The rules, which were changed at least twice, allowed foreign donors and other unverified contributions.
The committees released their report with the findings on Wednesday.
The report states that the platform showed âa lack of commitment to stopping fraud and paint a picture of complacency on ActBlueâs fraud-prevention team,â including fraud prevention vendor Sift.
âPut simply, the documents reflect a fundamentally unserious approach to fraud prevention at ActBlueâone that has left the door open for large-scale fraud campaigns on Democratsâ top fundraising platform.â
During President Joe Bidenâs 2024 campaign, which later turned into failed Democrat candidate Kamala Harrisâs bid, Act Blue directed staff to âlook for reasons to accept contributions.â

How does the US election work?
The winner of the election is determined through a system called the electoral college.
What is the electoral college and how does it work?
Each of the 50 states, plus Washington DC, is given a number of electoral college votes, adding up to a total of 538 votes. More populous states get more electoral college votes than smaller ones.
A candidate needs to win 270 electoral college votes (50% plus one) to win the election.
In every state except two â Maine and Nebraska â the candidate that gets the most votes wins all of the stateâs electoral college votes.
Electoral college votes correspond to electors from each state. These electors vote directly for the president, based on the results in the general election in their state. In early January, following the presidential election, Congress convenes in a joint session to count and certify the electoral votes.
How do people vote in the US election?
Elections in the US are administered by each state. Whether by mail-in ballots or voting in person on election day, people effectively vote in 51 mini-elections in the presidential election.
Due to the electoral college rules, a candidate can win the election without getting the most votes at the national level. This happened in 2016, when Trump won a majority of electoral college votes although more people voted for Hillary Clinton across the US.
A handful of races are run with a ranked choice voting system, whereby voters can rank candidates in their order of preference. If no candidate gets more than 50% of the vote, then the candidate with the fewest votes is eliminated and their supportersâ votes will be counted for their next choice. The Guardian has marked these elections where applicable above, and shows the results of the final result with redistributed votes.
How are the votes counted?
Vote verification and counting involves many processes to ensure oversight and security, and it runs before, during and after election day.
As soon as the polls close, local precincts count the ballots cast in person on election day, alongside any absentee or mail-in ballots that have been verified. Processes vary by state, but typically this involves verifying mail-in voter signatures and ensuring ballots are properly filled out. Provisional ballots, used when there are questions about a voterâs eligibility, are set aside for later verification.
Verified ballots are then counted, usually digitally but in some cases manually. The counts are then transmitted to county election offices for aggregation and verification.
This process involves thousands of local election officials who are either appointed or elected, depending on the state. Partisan and nonpartisan observers can monitor vote counting.
State election authorities then compile the county-level results and, after another round of verification, certify the final results.
Results are communicated through media â the Guardian receives results data from the Associated Press.
Official results can take days or weeks to be fully finalised. This is often because of the verification process of absentee, mail-in and provisional ballots. In some states, mail-in ballots can be received and counted several days after election day. High voter turnouts and potential recounts in close races can also slow down results publication.
How are the results reported?
The election results on this page are reported by the Associated Press (AP). AP âcallâ the winner in a state when they determine that the trailing candidate has no path to victory. This can happen before 100% of votes in a state have been counted.
Estimates for the total vote in each state are also provided by AP. The numbers update throughout election night and in the following days, as more data on voter turnout becomes available.

One obvious (to me) omission is the mention of how all of this affects disabled folks. You have people already heavily discriminated against for being different now being expected to jump through additional hoops to prove their humanity.
Digital imposter scams arenât new; messaging platforms, social media sites, and dating apps have long been rife with fakery. In a time when remote work and distributed teams have become commonplace, professional communications channels are no longer safe, either. The same artificial intelligence tools that tech companies promise will boost worker productivity are also making it easier for criminals and fraudsters to construct fake personas in seconds. ... But some corporate professionals are turning instead to old-fashioned social engineering techniques to verify every fishy-seeming interaction they have. Welcome to the Age of Paranoia, when someone might ask you to send them an email while youâre mid-conversation on the phone, slide into your Instagram DMs to ensure the LinkedIn message you sent was really from you, or request you text a selfie with a timestamp, proving you are who you claim to be. Some colleagues say they even share code words with each other, so they have a way to ensure theyâre not being misled if an encounter feels off. ... Ken Schumacher, founder of the recruitment verification service Ropes, says heâs worked with hiring managers who ask job candidates rapid-fire questions about the city where they claim to live on their resume, such as their favorite coffee shops and places to hang out. If the applicant is actually based in that geographic region, Schumacher says, they should be able to respond quickly with accurate details.
