#cant do it anymore man

so i know ive been gone for a while but im alive.

been staying up for my cat bc he's taken another, worse downturn. Had to take him to ER vet and we were there for 7 hours before the finally got to do blood work.

he went from "we need to watch his kidneys and those levels there" to "he is in the danger zone, some levels are so high our machines can't read the actual amount". so. that's not awesome.

our options are to get more testing done (he may have FIV, or something similar) and then pay for medication for treatment but since we can barely afford to house and feed ourselves thats... not happening.

so the vet told us option 2 is to just. put him down. at 6 years old.

so im not doing great, but. im alive.

sorry but do you ever think about the fact that the bernard we have today is a direct amalgamation of everything that happened in his past and i know that sound like such an obvious statement to say but it actually kills me to know that you can draw a direct line from who he is today all the way back to that sixteen year old boy who watched his best friend bleed out. like it is the defining moment in his life. it fundamentally shaped who he is and the person he's become. he is the bernard we know and love not despite the grieves shooting but because of it. because the gangs all got together and shot up his school. because tim walked out of that room with nothing but a baseball bat. because his darla got shot. because he watched her gasp and cry as she died. because he watched the blood coagulate around the wound. because he sat there and held her hand as her life drained out of her. because he walked into school that day with a joke he knew would make her laugh and her nose would scrunch up and she'd snort a little and tim would roll his eyes at him and call him ridiculous and instead he walked out with a bloody white shirt, blood under his fingernails, and two friends less. because, even now, almost half a decade out from the shooting, he thinks that if he closes his eyes, he will always be that stupid, scared little sixteen year old, holding the cooling body of dead best friend.

IVAN KNEW WHERE THE BULLETS WERE COMING FROM. HE KNEW WHICH SIDE THEY WERE COMING FROM. HE KNEW THE EXACT POSITION OF TILLS BODY THEYD AIM FOR BECAUSE HE MOVES THAT PART OF HIS BODY TO TAKE THE SHOT. SO WHY DIDNT HE JUST MOVE. HE KNEW WHEN THEY WOULD SHOOT TOO. SO WHY DIDNT HE JUST MOVE THE BOTH OF THEM.

HE CLEARLY HAS ENOUGH ARM STRENGTH TO MOVE TILL AROUND EASILY AND YET!!!!!!!!!!! AND YET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HE TAKES THE SHOT. AND NOW HE'LL BE "NOTHING BUT TRAUMA TO TILL" JUST LIKE HE WAS CONFRONTING SUA FOR WHEN THEY WERE KIDS.

MAYBE ITS MY EMOTIONS GETTING THE BETTER OF ME MAYBE MAYBE MAYBE BUT BROTHER. BROTHERRRRR

do maelor and viserra have kids :3 ALSO whats alysanne and jaehaerys' reaction to their marriage?

for a long time i don't think they do because even after they get married maelor has some kind of weird obsession with his children being saera's . <3 for a solid while he just goes You need to get rid of that baby . NEOWWW. under the guise of being worried for her health or something because he truly does just delude himself into thinking saera will come back . and that this time she will want to have babies with him

but in time he probably just settles into pretending LOL making up imaginary scenarios in his head to a completely batshit degree . i can't imagine viserra is very excited about being a mom nor having her sister projected onto her and neither of them are good parents in the slightest but they have like 3-4 i imagine . maelor would want multiple just to make sure he doesnt end up in a scenario where he has no heirs... even when he himself isn't really heir to anything. neither of them have much of an attachment to their kids and it's a bit (to put it lightly) miserable

i think maelor would have a few bastards as well running around fleabottom . none that he acknowledges or even really knows are out there like if you asked him how many he wouldnt know the answer... but theyre there .

as for alysanne and jaehaerys .. i know theyre MADDDDD as hell. seething and raging at them to a real bad degree mostly because viserra was already betrothed - it creates a bit of a political headache and definitely forces them to be really mindful with the north going forward. i imagine even when things settle down a bit their trust in both maelor and viserra is kind of broken beyond repair and they never really manage to move past it wholly. both of them probably get sent away from court for a while so that they don't piss jaehaerys off any further but ultimately there's nothing he or alysanne can really do about it so they do find some degree of just angry acceptance . at least it wasn't some rando lesser lord or knight .. i guess ...

also something interesting about the fact that jaehaerys and alysanne also got married in a similar fashion (ie secretly and against the wishes of the people around them). maelor voice if my father can marry his sister to make sure she doesnt marry another man outside the family why can't i. ill ponder this for another day and give you a proper thinkpiece anon
