you anxiously tap at the steering wheel, fingertips cold and your left leg is moving up and down anxiously.
two hours late. you were supposed to be home at five; it's seven.
the familiar figure walks out the door in her black t-shirt, sweatpants, and a small bag slung across her—your wife looks effortlessly beautiful—just as she always had these past ten years.
ten years with dahyun, and today marks that day.
your lovely wife opens the door and slips in, smiling at you; it calms your nerves slightly. you're still in your work clothes, it almost makes you chuckle at how comfy dahyun looks when you take a glance at how you look.
"hi love." you grin, easing into your seat.
"hi sweetheart." dahyun responds.
you breathe in and prepare yourself to let out all the stress you've been holding inside your body, looking your wife in the eye. "i'm really sorry for being late, everything was just so last minute and yuta made me finish his-"
"honey," dahyun starts, "it's okay, really. i get it."
"i know I just feel really-"
"don't worry about it." she assures—knowing how annoying your coworkers can be. "if you want to make up for it, you could start by showing me your surprise?" dahyun asks, moving herself so that she lingers near your face.
you smile and put your hand on hers, and you feel the faint touch of her ring on your finger.
"mhm," you respond.
dahyun pecks your lips.
-
you find yourself at the park.
it's not too crowded; a couple of older ladies walk together and gossip while they get their daily cardio in, kids and their parents start to walk back to their cars as the sun sets, and some people are biking on the bike path.
you open the trunk of your car and snatch the basket that sits in it. there's a spot that's empty and away from where most people are that catches your eye, so you slip your hand into dahyun's hand and lead her there.
the basket is set down and you open it up to find the blanket you had packed earlier. it's a blanket you found at some store from when you went grocery shopping, and you made sure to purchase it for this special occasion.
you set the rest of what was in the basket onto the blanket nicely—except for the small gift you had bought for your girlfriend.
dahyun sits down on the blanket and smiles when you hand her a glass cup. you grab the bottle that contained your specialty tea (it's just green tea and honey, but dahyun calls it your 'specialty' due to you always making it for her when she had felt off or sick. it's special to her, that's all that matters).
"some tea for my lovely lady," you say, placing your hand on her knuckles to prevent her hand from shaking while you pour the tea in. dahyun laughs at you softly, and that grin on her face reminds you how lucky you are.
you pour a cup of tea for yourself and clink it with hers. you both drink it at the same time.
-
an hour passes by and you two enjoy tea as the sun sets, talking about each other's day and catching up, whether it's about family, friends, or anything like that.
when the sun had completely set, you pull out a small, LED candle and flip the switch to turn it on, making dahyun laugh at your "romantic" gesture.
"you're so cheesy." dahyun jokes.
"you love it." (dahyun does).
you take off your work jacket—the gray blazer that fitted dahyun loosely, and you put it on her yourself.
dahyuns cheeks burn and you can see how bashful she becomes from the faint hint of pink on her cheeks that's visible from the small light that illuminates her face—a similar memory flashes in her mind from when you two were in high school.
-
"it's cold dahyun, here." you say, practically forcing her to take the jacket.
"are you sure? i don't want you to be cold."
"i'd rather be cold than have you cold, so just take it." you mutter shyly. "you're shivering—and i tolerate the cold better." you assure.
the two of you sit in the library, and you make the bold move to give the class president you had been crushing on your varsity jacket after seeing the way she rubs at her thighs for warmth.
dahyun looks at you and shoots a smile that almost has you on the floor.
"are you hitting on me?" she chuckles. you almost fall out of your seat.
"i- no, what? no." your attempt at being all composed and nonchalant fails miserably. dahyun laughs at you, and she leans against her palm.
"you're bold for asking someone with such a high rank out."
"i'm not asking you out!" you practically shout, your response makes your cheeks burn and dahyun finds it amusing.
"i wouldn't be opposed to the idea l/n y/n."
you halt.
"what?"
dahyun giggles at how flustered you are.
-
"remember when you gave me that jacket when we were second years?" dahyun says, "i remember how much you stuttered when i asked if you were going to take me out."
"stop that." you sigh, cheeks flushing at the embarrassing moment (which, in the end, landed a date with the girl you had been eyeing since you were a first year).
"you were so cute y/n~, it was bold of you to ask your class president out." dahyun jokes, "when i said i'd go out with you, gosh that was priceless."
"stop it." you groan, putting your hand in her face. "at least we got this far." you mumble under your breath, smiling to yourself.
you recompose yourself and shake your head. your gaze lands on the empty bottle, the tea had been finished within minutes. there's a lightbulb above your head when you remember what you had saved for the end of the night and you make your way to grab something from the basket beside the blanket.
dahyun watches you, curiosity piquing when you pull out a small, cardboard box and you hand it to her with two hands, smiling with anticipation—waiting to see her reaction.
your wife opens the small box in her hand—it's chocolate.
and it's not the cheap kind.
dahyun covers her mouth with her hand, eyes widening as she looks at the milk chocolate, which is cut up in a five-by-four grid, dusted by cocoa powder. she looks back up to see you with a proud grin on your face, hugging your knees close to your chest as you gaze at her with hearts in your eyes.
"y/n, you're actually insane."
"what, i can't get my lovely wife some chocolate?"
"y/n," dahyun marvels, "you're crazy- there's eight boxes?"
you nod.
"isn't that collection the expensive-"
"shhh, don't worry about the money. i've been eyeing it and i can afford even more boxes, so shut up about the money." you sigh lightheartedly, "now try it." you speak, pulling out (cheap) golden-colored forks from the basket and handing her one.
dahyun stops herself from bickering with you anymore, she'll do it later.
she pokes at a piece of the chocolate, the fork plunges into the soft, fudgy texture perfectly—her mouth waters slightly. dahyun brings the piece of chocolate to her mouth and takes a bite, she melts once the flavour sinks into her taste buds.
the chocolate is perfect, it's everything she's wanted and more. it's soft and creamy in her mouth, and the flavour has the same notes of any other chocolate but it's richer and it's from you, so of course it tastes much better.
"i could marry you again." dahyun sighs. her shoulders shrug up and she closes her eyes as if she's taken a shot of alcohol—your wife is so strange—you love it.
"i love you too." you mumble, rolling your eyes at the beauty in front of you.
"honey," she starts, still finishing on her second piece, "try some."
dahyun quickly finishes the piece she had been consuming, then places a piece in between her top and bottom front teeth. she leans forward and your cheeks flush from her gesture.
"god, you're so cheesy." you say, leaning in and giving into her stupidly cute antics.
your front teeth sink into the piece that sticks out, and you bite it, savoring the incredible flavors.
"shit, this is good." you say, astonished. dahyun laughs and leans closer to kiss your lips, tasting the faint flavor of chocolate that coats your lips. your hand moves over to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear, then you cup her cheek and kiss her again, smiling into the kiss like you always do.
"thank you, y/n." dahyun mumbles against your cheek before pressing a soft peck, "i love you."
"happy anniversary." you respond.
"happy ten years." dahyun beams.
-
it's ten now, and you've gone through two and a half boxes of chocolate together, you had to force yourselves not to finish the rest.
dahyun leans her head against your shoulder, letting her body relax against you as she watches the now completely dark sky.
"y/n,"
"yes?"
"i got you something too." she speaks in a low voice, "here."
it's almost as if dahyun had pulled out the paper from thin air. you turn to look at her with a puzzled expression while you retrieve the paper with your slender fingers.
"what's this?"
"a surprise." dahyun responds playfully, making you chuckle lowly.
your fingers work away at the folded paper—it looks old and just the tiniest bit discolored—you're even more curious. the LED candle on the blanket is picked up and held over the paper as you hunch over to read it with squinted eyes,
that y/n...
she's something different, i didn't like her at first, basketball players are so...
i joked about her hitting on me, somehow i landed a date with her!
today we got back from our first date.
l/n y/n is so cute, gosh... will this be bad for my position? are class presidents allowed to have girlfriends?
i think my heart is doing flips... i feel like I'm in a movie.
she took me to a park and her cheeks were so red, how cute.
she gave me a bar of chocolate, it was from the convenience store nearby, i don't know why, but it tasted better than usual.
how did she know i liked chocolate?
ah... i like this y/n.
i've never felt like this...
i hope we can go on more dates.
i like her a lot,
maybe we'll be together in ten years, will we get married? have a house? a dog??
maybe im getting ahead of myself... i would love that though
dahyun l/n doesn't sound bad...
your heart almost explodes while you read it, your smile growing wider as you go down the page in your hands—some old, lined notebook paper. you don't know why, but your eyes are watery and a tear or two is on the verge of rolling down your cheek.
"dahyun..." you say, your mouth is slightly agape and you're at a loss of words. the words are so pure, genuine, ridiculous, stupid, and so dahyun. your eyes scan the page again and they read the date at the top corner of the paper which you had missed earlier; this note is from ten years ago.
dahyun smiles at your reaction, her cheeks flushed from how embarrassing the paper is, but you don't seem to think like her with the way you kiss her right after.
your lips are pressed against hers harshly and she's down on the blanket now, back against the ground as you shower her with kisses.
"you're so fucking," you mutter against her, unable to finish your sentence due to the invisible string that's pulling your lips towards hers. "i love you."
"i also made you jelly dessert."
"i hate to break it to you, but there's nothing that's going to top this." you say in between pecks, "god, i would've used this against you sooner class president."
dahyun giggles as you pamper her with rushed pecks against her face, neck, and lips.
ten years and you think—no,—you know you can spend the rest of your life with this woman.

Meet Lando Norris, the woke, feminist face of Formula One
The 23-year-old McLaren driver is equally happy driving at more than 200mph or talking about his feelings. Sathnam Sanghera meets the new poster boy for petrolheads
Let’s face it, in the Eighties and Nineties, when I was getting into the sport, a certain kind of man was attracted to driving Formula One cars. Habitually egotistical, frequently misogynistic, oblivious to the environmental consequences of driving a high-powered car in circles for the sake of it, this unreconstructed male would also, with some 52 drivers losing their lives over the years, have something of a death wish. No one demonstrates how much things have changed than the McLaren F1 team’s current lead driver, 23-year-old Lando Norris.
Having recently broken up with the model Luisinha Oliveira, the Brit is a red-blooded young man who tells me with a certain amount of excitement that he’s the driver with the highest rating among female F1 fans, but when asked about the absence of women F1 drivers, he doesn’t, as Jenson Button once did, say that mechanics wouldn’t be able to concentrate near the presence of “boobs”. Instead, he launches into an earnest explanation of how things can and should change. Followed by a list of the ways he and McLaren try to make up for the environmentally unfriendly nature of racing cars.
When it comes to the death wish, Norris admits that his Belgian mother “hates” watching him race because of the risks involved, but safety has improved so much that survival is only an occasional anxiety for him. And as for the hard living, there’s a plastic tub on the table between us informing me that the only thing that has passed his lips this morning is porridge.
“Everything looks easy from the outside,” he says, launching into an explanation of the self-discipline and athleticism required to pilot modern F1 cars. “People don’t realise how physical it is, the G-force side of it. You’re not far off what they do in jet fighters. You then have two-hour races, racing in, you know, Singapore, where it’s 35C, extremely humid, you’re in a cockpit where you don’t get a lot of air flow, so it gets up to 50C inside the car and you can easily lose three, four kilos in some races. It’s one of the most physical sports you can do. And then there’s the mental side of it: if you’re racing in Monaco, one mistake and you’re out pretty much straight away.”
Sitting in a private box at the London Stadium, the site of a Major League Baseball game this weekend and a collaboration event between the baseball players and McLaren today, he tells me about the endurance, cardio and heat-chamber training involved; the difficulty of strengthening neck muscles, essential to withstanding extreme G-forces. Frankly, I can’t imagine him undergoing any of it. It’s partly that he’s just so wilfully unmacho — the single gentlest sportsperson I’ve ever met. It’s also that, at 10st 7lb and 5ft 9in, and looking even younger than his 23 years, he resembles a boy-band member rather than an automotive gladiator. Which probably explains the female fan base.
Make no mistake, though, that Norris is ferocious on the track, frequently out-racing people who almost have more years of F1 experience than he has experience of existence. His once mighty team, McLaren, 60-years old this year, has not delivered the best car this season, but recent upgrades allowed him to attain fifth position, and widespread praise, at this month’s Austrian Grand Prix. And he has been recognised for consistently getting the best out of his cars from his earliest days, beginning racing at the age of just 7 and winning several junior titles before being named McLaren’s test and reserve driver at the age of 17.
He was quickly promoted, his performances eventually making his team-mate Daniel Ricciardo look average, with McLaren replacing him with fellow Australian Oscar Piastri at the end of the 2022 season. Meanwhile, two-time world champion Mika Hakkinen has claimed that Norris is “on the same level” as reigning F1 champion Max Verstappen.
As a reflection of the esteem in which he is held, Norris recently agreed a contract extension with McLaren, which, according to one motorsport magazine, makes him the fourth best-paid driver in F1. When I cite the reported annual salary of about £19.4 million, he concedes it’s “in that ballpark”. An extraordinary amount of money — if you were not already the son of one of the richest men in Britain, of course. Norris got into motor racing with the backing of his 51-year-old father, Adam, whose wealth is estimated in excess of £200 million, mainly from his involvement in the investment platform Hargreaves Lansdown. As a result, asking how money has changed his life is not a particularly fruitful line of questioning. What does he spend it on? On experiences with his friends, “creating memories”. Has he splashed out? He can’t think of anything, but then his company car is a McLaren supercar and he travels the planet in luxury for work anyway.
Nevertheless, his rise raises a perennial anxiety for the sport. Can you make it in F1 without being born into money? Norris, who attended Millfield School in Somerset but didn’t do his GCSEs due to already intense motorsport commitments, is characteristically unprickly on the theme. “It’s 100 per cent very, very clear for anyone”, he says, to see that his dad financed his entry into F1. But he insists, “You have to have talent to make it. You’ll never get to Formula One now if you’re a bad driver. I was lucky I didn’t have to find too many sponsors and my dad could support me all the way to F1, but I couldn’t deal with being a pay driver in F1. I think it’s the wrong thing to do, completely.”
By “pay driver”, Norris is referring to the rich young men who occasionally buy a seat in the sport, usually in the form of sponsorship, Russia’s Nikita Mazepin being a recent example at Haas. “There’s no other sport in the world where you can pay just to be in it. It shouldn’t happen in Formula One. But it’s also one of the most expensive sports to get into — you can’t just pick up a go-kart like you can pick up a football or a racket or baseball bat.”
I ask how he thinks his generation of drivers differs from the old guard, and he cites a bunch of factors I’ve not considered. Not least that his generation has grown up practising on the high-tech simulators now used by all F1 teams, and playing computer games for fun. Such games were one of the things that brought Norris to prominence in 2020, when his internet broadcasting of game-playing became popular with motorsport fans deprived of racing. He has since founded his own esports firm, Quadrant. But does playing car games on consoles actually help develop real-life skills? “I don’t think it hurts. But they’re not even games; they’re simulators.” They’re that good? “Yes, certain ones. You’re racing actual people around the world who are very talented, racing other F1 drivers. You’re learning all sorts of race craft, the set-up, handling, car control.”
Growing up with social media is another difference that he cites. It brings up the mental-health struggles Norris has talked about suffering since entering F1, where the pressure can be extreme. But it sounds as if it’s something he has, for now, worked out how to navigate. He has removed Twitter from his phone, but more to stop himself wasting time than because of abuse. “Every person, every sport, people love you and people hate you. Of course, I’d prefer if people loved me. But I just laugh at it more than anything [now]. It affected me a lot more back in, like, 2019, 2020, because I took it all more personally.”
Why was that? “I was just starting out and wanted everyone to like me more.”
This more relaxed attitude is also in evidence in his approach to Netflix’s blockbuster show Drive to Survive, which he has criticised in the past for faking tension with his former team-mate Carlos Sainz, but which he now accepts as entertainment. “Some things get twisted a little bit, but at the same time I realise it’s a show.”
Norris stretches in a way that indicates tiredness, and it’s entirely understandable. I’m knackered from my journey from north to east London, but he finds himself in the capital after three days of travel that have taken in Canada, Cannes and McLaren HQ’s in Surrey. F1 is an exhausting line of work. And the circus is often surreal. Through a window behind him, a McLaren car can be seen being wheeled onto the pitch for the photoshoot: a slice of F1 in West Ham’s football stadium, which has been converted to a baseball diamond for the weekend (and hosted the athletics at the 2012 Olympics). I ask if he’s a football fan. “I used to be.” I know the feeling, I say, wanting to disown Wolverhampton Wanderers when they disappoint. His team? “England.”
It takes a moment to realise this is a sardonic reference to another instance of unwanted attention, in the form of the mugging he suffered in July 2021. As widely reported, an unidentified man held Norris in a headlock while another yanked a £144,000 Richard Mille watch off his wrist. The timepiece was one of just five in existence. It happened at Wembley Stadium as he made his way to his sports car following England’s loss to Italy in the final of Euro 2020. In a remark that some might consider strange given Norris sometimes drives at walls at nearly 200mph, he says, “I didn’t realise how quickly things can go completely… scary.”
Did it change the way he feels about going out and about?
“I don’t wear watches any more.”
He means socially: today he is wearing, for sponsorship reasons, another example of the same watch. “It has changed my perspective. There are still times when I get a bit nervous about things, when I’m with my friends.”
The admission of vulnerability is yet another refreshing thing about Norris, but not altogether surprising if you’ve ever heard him talking to his team over the radio during races. He is intensely self-critical. What is he like with failure? Does he let it overwhelm him? “I would say I do, quite often, but it’s really the biggest drive.”
Lots of athletes use failure to motivate themselves, but it can become destructive.
“It’s the main thing I use. I’ve learnt to beat myself up less, but I’m definitely my biggest critic — I mean, I’m the one who knows what I can do and what I can’t do.”
When it comes to the possibilities of achievement, during a season where McLaren has disappointed, currently standing at sixth out of ten teams, below the middle-ranking Alpine, Norris is optimistic. He believes in the team’s aggressive development plan, which has seen it bring car upgrades to recent races. “I probably have the most faith I’ve had in a while.”
Nevertheless, disappointment is a running theme in our conversation. When I ask about the key to surviving success, he responds with, “I’ve not had much success.” I remind him he has had a disproportionate amount of success for his age. “True. But then again, it’s relative to what I’m actually trying to achieve. Success is winning races, winning championships, and I’ve not got anywhere close to doing that.”
When I ask if he feels like he’s following in the footsteps of Lewis Hamilton, given Hamilton also started off at McLaren, he dismisses the comparison as grandiose. “Life’s not fair in Formula One, because things can go up and down completely out of your control as a driver. So it doesn’t matter if you’re the best driver in the world, if you’re in the wrong team, you’re not going to win. You’re not even going to look good.”
Before departing, I ask Norris how he feels about certain descriptions that are frequently applied to him in press coverage.
“Handsome”? “[That comes from] the female audience,” he blushes.
A “fair loser”? “I admit when I’ve done things wrong. I’m the last guy you’ll ever see blame someone else over myself when something happens.”
“Nice”? There are some drivers who would hate the description, being keen to cultivate a fearsome air both on and off the track. “I’m happy with it. As much as I do care about what people think of me, I want to be seen in a good way rather than not. But just because I’m nice in person doesn’t mean it’s the same on the track.”
Finally, “shy”. It’s shyness that has been apparent throughout our meeting, not least when I ask him to give me a demonstration of his Flemish and he can’t bring himself to do it, even though I’d have no idea if it was good or bad. “I’m just an introvert.”
When did he realise he was an introvert?
“When I was, like, six. I’m not great with crowds and all that kind of thing.”
So how does he handle the intense attention from crowds of fans at races?
“You kind of get used to it. I’m not the biggest fan when they grab you, you know?”
How does he cope with the long days of being on camera?
“Alone time — when it’s just me playing games or going for a walk, listening to music.”
Not for the first time, I want to give Norris an avuncular hug. The feeling intensifies after I inquire what advice he would give to his teenage self. When I normally ask people this question they have to think back decades, but Norris only has to recall life before the pandemic. “Be yourself as much as possible: don’t try to pretend to be a Formula One driver.”
Was there a time when he tried to fit himself into those expectations?
“You feel like there’s a persona, of looking like a superstar, and that just doesn’t need to happen. I can have my laughs and my giggles and, you know, sometimes I just drive a car. Simple as that.”

I've never been a weekend person but recently I'm finding the most purpose on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. When the bar is alive and it’s just me and a near endless list of drink orders, I feel vital. Talking to patrons, flirting, and being engaged in good conversation. I push my body before work. The workouts are gruelling and I either start or end a workout with close to an hour of boxing. My back and shoulders in particular are transforming, getting thicker and tighter. The muscle is hard earned. It still feels as though I need to do more though, find new limits to push for. Generally, putting size on a tall frame isn’t easy and anyone tall that lifts will tell you the same thing. I have fitness goals in mind though, I have a certain physique that appeals to me above all else, and most importantly, my strength and conditioning must be functional. There’s no point being absolutely fucking massive if you have terrible cardio and can’t run around your block without facing death itself. I think back to the centuries upon centuries of warriors that trained and honed their bodies even without optimal nutrition and “poor living conditions”. In reality were their living conditions that bad though or is it simply the fact that these cultures lived so differently to the modern Western man that it’s difficult for us to imagine living that way? I know it’s the latter. Society has softened and weakened us. I know this. I think back to that old anarcho adage, “You want to improve society and yet you still participate in it?” It’s easy to critique that mindset, after all are we expected to drop out of society and govern ourselves? I say yes. I say fuck the hierarchies of institutionalised power. I say fuck those that seek out power like moths to the flame. I don’t seek power, I seek total freedom. I wish to live as I please and be only accountable to myself and my own sense of honour and integrity. I’m tired of living according to the wills and whims of gelatinous, overbearing, weak men. Men in cheap ill-fitting suits that lounge around and treat other human beings like pawns on the global chessboard. I’m not just some figure on a spreadsheet or a statistic to be brought out and used to illustrate a point. I’m flesh and blood and I’ve more drive and will, than in the entirety of Parliament. I’m clearheaded and completely lucid. I’m not beholden to anyone and I’m not rendered useless and docile by some disgusting fucking habit. Moreover, I don’t need a fucking gun to prove how much of a threat I am to these established ideals. I’m charismatic and intelligent, capable and strong, in other words, I represent the converse of virtually every elected official in this country. You should fear the amount of burden I can carry, the weight I can hold on my ever strengthening shoulders. I’m no politician nor am I a boy, I’m a man. Fear the men that have the will to seize the world within their hands and cradle it like a newborn. Let’s lay siege to the institutions that wreak havoc on this planet, let’s become the sworn enemies of the human blobs in power, and hold a vendetta against the foundations and fundamentals, that’ve corrupted our cultures and societies. The time for change is now, and change doesn’t come when men and women wearing symbols of peace join hands and sing about revolution, change comes when threat is imminent, violence is swift, blood is shed, and the weak men that hijacked this world are brought to their knees and forced to submit. The age of weakness is over, and the age of strength is here once again.

hiiiiiiii, mushyyyyyyyyyy 🤩 just droppin my lil blurb in your ask box, but don't rush !! get to it whenever ya have the time 😁
btw, i'd like male matches (that sounds so weird...dude matches ? man matches ? men matches ?) from one piece + jjk/hq ✨
- i'm 5'8, athletic but thicc build, brown eyes + curly black hair w long natural eyelashes + a cute nose (so i've been told hehe)
- i'm naturally intimidating but once i open my mouth people can't take me seriously until i show em i'm serious, which usually comes in the form of anger or intimidation.
- i'm usually a jokester/chill person who doesn't try to dwell too much on things. i also get a little deep + philosophical if im in the mood, but v rarely. i can be a bit chaotic most of the time + i often am not able to tell when i should stop cracking jokes/being silly 🤭 but my friends are always good about telling me it's time to get serious !!
- i'd do anything for my friends + family, am extremely loyal.
- when i'm w others, i'm usually the life of the party !! i'm always cracking jokes or saying/doing stupid shit. but i also enjoy my alone time + i'm just as silly when i'm by myself !! (i talk to myself when i'm alone is that weirddd)
- hobbies include working out, sitting out in the sun, taking care of my plants (to the best of my abilities, i managed to kill all of my patio plants at the same exact time), being anywhere near the water/beach, cooking, + studying because im in med school !!
muchas gracia, miel 💕

alicia, my love! i hope you enjoy your matchups! i thought long and hard about them. i'm sure you'll be able to tell what kind of ship dynamics i prefer, teehee.
╰┈➤ okay! from one piece, i ship you with zoro!
Tumblr media
* ˚ ♥ okay, now hear me out. i don't think i've ever heard you mention his name before, but let me tell you something, let me tell you something! you two? would make a power couple.
* ˚ ♥ from an outside perspective, think pretty princess and her guard dog. people would already find you a little intimidating, mainly because you have a mature air about you and seem assured of yourself. definitely not one to take bs, and people can tell.
* ˚ ♥ but after one look at zoro, who likes to stand right behind you and smirk, probably with a hand in your back pocket or an index finger linked around your belt loop-- it becomes clear that you are not to be fucked with.
* ˚ ♥ despite the scary guard dog persona, zoro definitely lets you fight your own battles. he's standing on the sidelines with a proud grin. whether you're staring someone down or beating some marine's ass, he's glad to witness every instance. finds it incredibly sexy that you're so capable and confident. ...let anyone touch you, though, and it's a different story. consider their ass dead. zoro would handle it.
* ˚ ♥ first impressions are discarded quickly once it becomes clear that you two are just a pair of goobers. for the purposes of this ship, i am restoring zoro's funnybone. yes, i can do that. zoro can be silly. and you, mi amor, definitely bring it out of him. and it's so. so. cute. make a joke about anyone, anyone (besides chopper), and he'll bark out a laugh so loud the birds fly away.
* ˚ ♥ but of course, he's not free from your jokes, either. he pretends to be annoyed by your quips and teasings. grumbles that you're 'disrupting his nap' when you're sitting by his side on the deck, laughing up a storm at his expense. but should you try to leave, his arms'll latch around you quick, pulling you into him.
* ˚ ♥ naps in the sun. often. you bring your study material when you spot him lying on the deck, basking in a sunspot. you always study for as long as you can until you fall asleep, too.
* ˚ ♥ you also work out together! it's cathartic, really. whether you're doing cardio, yoga, or lifting weights, zoro pushes you. he makes a great spotter. and when you get tired, zoro lets you sit cross-legged on his back while he does push-ups. you guys have really insightful conversations like that, actually. you chatting about whatever's on your mind, and zoro grunting out replies in between his pants.
* ˚ ♥ you both appreciate those moments, working out together in the crow's nest. for a few reasons. zoro appreciates that it's an enclosed space, away from the rest of your peeping crewmates. he especially appreciates the look of you in your tight work-out clothes, breathing heavily and dripping with sweat ;)
but really, zoro appreciates everything about you.
✧༺♥༻∞
moving on to your next matchup! and the matchup i love the most, actually. i just think it's cute >.<
╰┈➤ from jujustu kaisen, i ship you with nanami!
Tumblr media
* ˚ ♥ i can't lie, i am quite happy with this pairing. you might be thinking right now that this ship will have a similar dynamic to you and zoro, but i get completely different vibes from you and mr. nanami kento.
* ˚ ♥ in this ship, i'm thinking the dynamic would be tired x the one good thing in the world. in other words, nanami x you. i like the idea of you being a nonsorcerer. we all know that nanami craves normalcy. screw the bakery girl, you give him that. you, who he probably found studying at a coffee shop or something. hastily scribbling vocabulary terms on flashcards, sipping on a lukewarm cup of coffee.
* ˚ ♥ the doorbell jingles as nanami walks in and your gaze wanders to the door, where the broad blond stands. and you can't see his eyes behind his weird ass glasses, but you're pretty sure they're pinned on you. you look away as he orders whatever he came in for, but then a few minutes pass and an employee plops a muffin in front of you, canting their head at the blond. he bought you a muffin. and it's a sweet, simple gesture that means a lot to you, because you're a broke college student and really shouldn't be spending money on coffee in the first place.
* ˚ ♥ and, as the poets say, the rest is history. i think nanami is at first fascinated by you, maybe even a little envious, because you're a strong, beautiful woman with aspirations and struggles unrelated to fighting curses. learning about you is like peering through a locked window, imagining what life could be like without his burdens.
* ˚ ♥ that fascination steadily turns to admiration. because you intend to spend the rest of your life doing what you can to save people, or help people, or make life a little easier for others, and it genuinely stuns him. it's a different flavor from the jaded outlook of jujutsu sorcerers, who fight curses not because they want to, but because they have to.
* ˚ ♥ your relationship with nanami would be the definition of domestic bliss. oh, you crack your jokes and probably tease him as well, but nanami only ever hums in assent. occasionally deadpans a response he knows will fluster you. he likes listening to you talk, listening to you laugh. it brightens up his lifeless apartment.
* ˚ ♥ your schedule is busy, as you're in med school and all, but that just makes every moment you share with nanami sweeter. he treasures every second he gets to share with you. gets somehow even more stringent about his work hours, because a minute working overtime is a minute he spends away from you.
* ˚ ♥ when your schedules align, the two of you cook together. and it's always a wholesome, efficient affair. the food always comes out delicious, meals switching between nanami's fancies and your own preferences. it's the perfect blend of creativity, warmth, and mundanity, and cooking together definitely becomes a love language between the two of you.
* ˚ ♥ dining together is also a treat. your savory, homecooked meals usually paired with free-flowing conversation and a hearty glass of wine. afterwards, nanami always insists you take home the leftovers, and well, you can't really deny him, can you?
* ˚ ♥ you're over at nanami's so often that you start to leave some of your belongings there. one day you knock on his door with a big smile, arms full of greenery. it's some of your plants, you explain, 'to brighten up the place!' but it's more than that, and you both know it. it's the promise of a future shared—together. nanami ends up taking better care of the plants than you do, but hey. it's all part of your charm! ^-^
and nanami is incredibly charmed by you.

False Obits and Overdramaticism
Go ahead? Put anything? Literally? On God? Just like that?
I suppose it's trying to probe my brain for thoughts, which is fair, but I'll divulge them at my own pace, thank you, graphics-interface. I don't need the suggestion to talk about how I'm feeling. If that cauldron happens to be boiling or broiling anywhere near the surface, you'll be the first to know.
I have a funny grip on my hearing that tells me I might very well have a day like that tomorrow, but I'll be in love with the feeling, because I'll be back at work. I'll be able to flex these new people-skrillz that I've picked up in recent days.
There'll be those that I can't help, but I'll try with everyone. I need to try with people or else they might never bother to try with me, and I'm worth trying with-- I'm worth trying out-- and I'm worth taking home. This, I have to prove to myself by proving it to society for a while.
Then, the gym-etiquette will come back to me, and I'll be cycling again like my heart depends on it, and it does. Love or no love, cycling puts distance between me and my emotions as I'm currently feeling them, so that I might be able to process them.
It's all running, at the end of the day. Spiritual and physical cardio, we do these things to clear our heads. We watch TV, we play games, we bob our heads to music and pretend to know what it all means.
But none of us know, we're all learning together, gradually, slowly, gently. It's a process, believe me. As someone who is fighting tooth and nail to be and feel better and better each day, it doesn't get easier, but it shouldn't have to get easier.
It should get harder. That's how leveling up works.
If you're constantly boxing at your skill-level, you'll never get better. Metaphors. I have too much energy to slow down, take my time, and write a periodic draft of this, which is why you're getting the manic ramblings of someone freshly-medicated and freshly-reunited with his family, job, and support-structure. I got my job back! It's all thanks to these little circular white tabs that give me a fighting chance against my psychosis.
One tablet, every night, at 9PM, right before bed.
I'll stay creative. I'll stay content. I'll stay healthy.

I’ve been focusing on grinding myself down to dust with heavy compound lifts every day. Yesterday I did some cardio, stretched out and did some pushups, and then squatted until my quads were jelly, after that I did heavy shrugs with my ez-curl bar, t-bar rows, overhead kettlebell tricep extensions, and then dips. I’m doing a few compound exercises/lifts every workout for better overall strength and fitness. This last week my sleep has been phenomenal and it feels like some of the healthiest, most restful sleep I’ve gotten in my life. Heavy lifts, boxing training, and eating fucking clean. Lowering the amount of sodium in my diet has been beneficial too. None of that near midnight snacking.
I went out for dinner to the local Mexican place with a friend on Thursday night which went really well. We ended up chatting for about 4 and a half hours. She was drinking margaritas and I was drinking these nice Aussie non-alcoholic IPAs because that’s all they had in the way of alcohol-free beers. They’re the only local place that has the ambiance and feel of a Melbourne venue. It always reminds me of the two Mexican restaurants I used to live near in the Northern suburbs of Melbourne back when I was at university. As we were talking I inevitably got asked about my previous relationship and as always I just swerve that line of enquiry. Afterwards we stood outside in the cold and continued chatting as we watched the cars go by. That was my favourite part of the evening. It’s one of my favourite things to do. Just spending time with someone out in the night air. It doesn’t have to be romantic but it’s evocative and the cold is revitalising. Soon it’s going to be winter again and every morning the grass will frost over and a heavy mist will roll in off of the sea. I don’t hate the winter but the wonder it used to have has waned and the summers hold new life and a freedom that appeals to me. I’m imaging riding my motorcycle up to Queensland, shaving my head, getting some head tattoos, and cruising up and down the coast in the warm northern weather until Victoria warms up again. A man and the open road. It’s all I need.

What Would Have Happened If Penny Didn't Forgive The Guys
Season 1 Episode 2
This episode always makes me laugh because as Penny says they really are some sick geeky bastards but they're our sick geeky bastards and they're not sick perv-y, they're sick in a they need therapy and love kind way so we love them. LOL
Random thoughts I had while watching:
Sheldon offers Howard his epinephrine pen because it isn't "bee season". How come Sheldon started out nice to him and when did the writers decide to have them be frenemies? Also, Sheldon keeps extra napkins and stuff to himself, just in case. What happens if someone lets a bee out near him even if it's not bee season? I feel like that's something the Sheldon we know would say.
"You kind of act as a carbohydrate delivery system." This line needs to go down in the history of pick-up lines as something in-between cheesy good and cringe bad because why Leonard, why...
Penny starts out interested in sweet Leonard, sympathetic towards special Sheldon, cringing at Howard, and intrigued by Raj's inability to speak to her. Little did she know she would be BFFs with all of them. LOL
Watching them "be really smart" but the best they could do is slide the damn box up the stairs upset me because...I get it...incline plane. However, they don't have the strength for even that! They should have taken their puny arms, opened the box, and taken a few pieces up the stairs at a time. It's extra cardio but they're already good at climbing those stairs.
What happens if:
They weren't all so socially awkward and only Sheldon was the weirdo? Would Leonard have had a better shot, since all of them would not have just appeared at the door every time Penny popped up?
Penny did love Superman and was able to engage with them on their level about a topic they loved but that was the only thing in common that they shared? Would they somehow find her hotter because a hot girl can talk Superman? In Hollywood, the answer is yes. In real life, the answer is no because even nerd guys are chauvinists.
Penny wasn't messy but they had found comic books and other nerd stuff in her apartment? Like she was keeping it a secret that she was into some of their stuff too? Well...my answer remains the same as above because let's not forget Howard's "hold on honey men at work" comment. Ugh.
All in all a funny episode, especially watching Leonard's reactions as he tries to get Sheldon to act normal and the embarrassment he faces when Sheldon says he hears Leonard is a gentle and tender lover.
