okay, so, i might be looking too much into this, but hear me out.

in s1ep1 of carmen sandiego (2019), when carmen's recounting her backstory to gray, she talks about letting her friends tag along to greet cookie booker by throwing water balloons at her. there are 5 of them in their little criminal friend group (or as i like to call them, the crimesters™), and they throw red water balloons. they throw five red water balloons at cookie booker. and ms booker is obviously a pretty important person in vile, as she is the bookkeeper and she delivers the hard drive.

and there are five official team red members. and they go against vile. using the hard drive. the water balloons represent the future team red. oh my god

maybe im just tired and making things up, but if this is the case then that would be some amazing foreshadowing

Scarlet Bug

Carmen sandiego x fem reader, Miraculous AU

“What’s the plan?” Carmen agreed once again to steal for Vile in order to keep Zack and Ivy safe. Cleo wanted her to steal a few paintings from the louvre museum.

“Be careful Carmen Scarlet bug and Chat noir might see you.”

“Scarlet bug? You mean my old partner who left me for no reason.”

“Scarlet bug and Chat noir are paris’s superheroes,be careful they might capture you.”

“Capture me? Child’s play, I've got this under control," Carmen replied with a smirk. Cleo and Carmen planned out the heist, making sure that Zack and Ivy were kept safe from VILE's threats. As Carmen arrived at the Louvre museum, she was amazed by the security measures in place. as she made her way around the museum, admiring the artwork and looking for any weaknesses in the security, Chat Noir suddenly appeared out of nowhere. "Stop right there, thief! I won't let you get away with stealing these precious artworks," Chat Noir said, as he drew out his staff. Carmen quickly evaluated her options, realizing that the superhero was determined to stop her. She knew that she needed to think fast.

"Well, well, well, if it isn't Chat Noir. I've heard so much about you, but I didn't expect you to be so handsome in person," Carmen purred, hoping to distract Chat Noir with her charm. Chat Noir was taken back by her sudden change in attitude, but he still kept his guard up. "Don't try to sweet-talk your way out of this, I know your reputation," Chat Noir replied, trying to maintain his composure. Carmen kept up her act while Chat Noir was distracted, Carmen seized the opportunity to slip past him and made her way to the paintings.As she started to pull down the paintings, you suddenly appeared in front of her, ready to battle. "Stop right there, Carmen Sandiego. I won't let you get your hands on these priceless artwork,why are you still stealing stuff?"  Carmen knew that she had to keep her wits about you, so she came up with a plan. 

"Scarlet bug, wait! Please, hear me out. I'm not stealing these for my own sake. I'm doing this to save  lives of two innocent children," Carmen pleaded, hoping to gain your trust. But you on the other hand you had your doubts about her unlike Chat noir. You were trying to determine if she’s telling the truth. After a few tense moments, you decided to give Carmen a chance and hear her out. Carmen explained everything about VILE's threats and how she was forced to steal to protect Zack and Ivy.

You understood the gravity of the situation and offered to help Carmen catch the real culprit behind the threats. Together, you apprehended the VILE agents and ensured that Zack and Ivy were safe from harm.

“Promise me you’ll stop doing this now that Vile’s gone.”

“I promise.”

I think about the alternate universes where a different faculty member found Carmen as a baby and subsequently betrayed VILE for her constantly. How the team dynamic would change. How they’d grow as characters. The shenanigans they’d get into

esteemed fellow faculty, as you may be aware, i, gunnar maelstrom, have been called assless, flat as a board, l'homme sans cul, even. justifiably? perhaps. but i feel as if these are merely labels, safe ways to categorize my uniquely concave ass, which allows me to warp the laws of physics as air from a high pressure zone passes into a low pressure zone. so stop bullying me

Somehow, the Carmen Sandiego brainrot has taken hold even though I haven't watched an episode in months (no idea how that happened). So, how's about some headcanons? (feel free to play with any or all if they strike your fancy)

-- Carmen's room in headquarters has two wall clocks, one set to San Diego time and one to Ontario because

-- Player has a veritable army of cousins. Carmen never got a straight number because just when she thinks she's got them down, he'll offhandedly mention someone having a baby or something; quite honestly, he can't keep track either.

-- Carmen is nearly hopeless with numbers. Time zones, exchange rates, converting to imperial units when she's in the U.S., she never got the hang of any of it and has learned to just consult Player.

-- "Okay, that guy at the front desk said I'm ten miles from the Grand Canyon. How many-" "Sixteen, Red. Keep an eye out, it's easy to miss." "Very funny."

-- It drove the Faculty absolutely nuts that their 'golden opportunity' is math-stupid; they chalked it up to something she got from her mother's side.

-- It's not. Dexter Wolfe was just *that* good at hiding his dyscalculia.

-- The one math-y thing she can do is card counting, a key component of being an incorrigible cheat at board/card games. Because she will cheat at anything and everything.

-- Seriously, one time Zach and Ivy found an old Candyland game (just lying around the warehouse, don't ask) and Carmen, who had never seen the game in her life, positively trounced them.

-- They just *know* she has to be cheating but can't prove it.

-- Ivy, bewildered, to Carmen's cat-that-got-the-canary face: "How does someone cheat at Candyland?!?" She's just that good.

-- Whenever Shadowsan plays her in cards, it takes all of two minutes for the game to devolve from 'whatever they were supposed to be playing' to 'who's better at sleight of hand.' Not that he condones cheating, mind, but if Carmen's going to, well, he's not just going to let her get away with that.

-- Carmen as a kid was a very picky eater (her adventurous spirit not extending to the culinary world); the Faculty was as helpful as you'd expect.

-- "Dammit, Saira, I told you to quit trying to feed her that rice!" "Well I need someone to taste test-" (absolutely no sense of taste on Saira; lab accident, we don't talk about it) "-and you certainly haven't volunteered. Besides, this newest formula is fortified with three essential vitamins and minerals (at least, I think they're essential), which is more than those sweets you keep plying her with." "At least she eats those!"

-- Ivy and Zach are high school dropouts, figuring they could get ahead better with racing than with academics. As part of joining ACME they get their GED's (since they require *at least* a high school diploma) and the whole team (plus Chase and Julia) help out and are so proud when they pass.

-- The first thing Carmen always does in the morning, something that doesn't change post-series, is call Player. It's also the last thing she does before turning in at night. She can't imagine being any other way, and neither can he. (crud, they're just the bestest friends, I love them so much)

I'm not over the symbolism with Black sheep's name. They took the daughter of "the Wolf" and tried to defang her by calling her a sheep, a docile individual who follows without asking questions.

And yet they called her a black sheep. A misfit, an outcast, one who stands out.

And she was : only child on the island, a promising thief before even starting her training, and eventually being "in a league of her own".

It's almost a self-fulfilling prophecy. Why were they surprised when the one they'd marked as different from the flock ended up rebelling against it completely?

Do you ever just think about how Zach and ivy could've been vile agents?

Like they fit the bill alright, orphaned, desperate, and without any money

Just think, if they didn't decide to go into racing, they could've became one of viles elite operatives working alot like the mechanic and the driver, ivy would've been saira bellums protégé and Zach would've been cleos.

They most likely would've even met blacksheep at some point too.

Idk I've just been thinking about this alot idk.

To think these little cuties could've been vile operatives 😭
