Voetbal

Zo heel af en toe bemoei ik me nog weleens tegen het voetbal aan. Meestal op afstand, maar als de verschillende competities op hun eind lopen maak ik er tijd en ruimte voor. Dan kruipt het nog aanwezige voetbalbloed waar het niet gaan kan. Zo ook dit jaar. Terwijl in Nederland de kampioen afgelopen weekend bekend werd staan er in het buitenland nog een aantal spannende weken op het programma. Ook in de Europa League en de Champions League is er nog niets beslist. Met Ajax als halve-finalist in de EL doet Nederland internationaal na jaren weer mee en daar mogen we best trots op zijn. In een tijd waarin het grote Oranje is afgezakt naar een plaats op de FIFA ranglijst tussen Het Land van Ooit en Carpetland is een internationaal succes als dat van Ajax meer dan welkom. Zoals het er nu naar uitziet gaat de KNVB verder op de ingeslagen weg van wanbeleid door de meest onbetrouwbare trainer uit de geschiedenis van het vaderlandse voetbal wederom te belonen met de functie van bondscoach. Mocht geldwolf Dick Advocaat de scepter gaan zwaaien hoop ik met iedere vezel in mijn lijf dat Oranje degradeert. Hup Zweden, hup Bulgarije, hup Frankrijk.

Terug naar de eredivisie. Vanaf speelronde 1 heeft Feyenoord bovenaan gestaan. Waar jaren achtereen vurig op werd gehoopt door iedereen die deze mooie club een warm hart toedraagt gaat het dit seizoen eindelijk weer een keer gebeuren. Rotterdam krijgt zijn kampioen en als er één legioen recht op een feestje heeft is het de hondstrouwe aanhang van Feyenoord wel. Het gebeurde niet altijd met sprankelend en oogstrelend voetbal, maar er stond een team en dat team was bereid om iedere wedstrijd tot het gaatje te gaan. Soms moesten de Rotterdammers eerst wakker geschud worden, maar keer op keer lukte het de ploeg van trainer Giovanni van Bronckhorst om zich terug te knokken in de wedstrijd. Met de sterkhouders Brad Jones, Karim El Ahmadi, Tonny Vilhena, Jens Toornstra, en Nicolai Jørgensen had Giovanni van Bronckhorst een ijzersterk geraamte staan. De staf en deze mensen vormen in mijn ogen de basis van het Rotterdamse succes. Ook wil ik een compliment geven aan Martin van Geel en Eric Gudde. Beide heren hebben bakken met stront over zich heen gekregen, maar zijn nooit weggelopen voor hun verantwoordelijkheden. De rol van verloren zoon Dirk Kuyt mogen we ook niet bagatelliseren. Van basisspeler naar 12e man is voor een speler met zo'n staat van dienst geen pretje, maar Dirk heeft zich in die rol geschikt. Een captain waardig. 

Onze eredivisie bestaat uit 3 ploegen die ook internationaal weleens voor een stunt kunnen zorgen, 6 ploegen die in onze competitie soms een uitschieter naar boven hebben en 9 ploegen die gekscherend gezegd de status eredivisieclub niet waard zijn. Alle clubs uit het rechter rijtje worden in een rechtstreeks duel met de kampioen van Liechtenstein ondersteboven gevoetbald en dat zegt alles. Als ik op zondag naar Studio Sport zit te kijken en ik krijg de hoogtepunten van bijvoorbeeld Go Ahead Eagles - NEC en/of Willem II - Roda voorgeschoteld doet het pijn aan mijn ogen. Laat staan als je daar 90 minuten naar moet kijken. Dat niveau is zo slecht dat ik medelijden heb met de supporters van die clubs. Je kan mij niet wijsmaken dat je voor je plezier week in week uit met tranen in je ogen huiswaarts keert. Dan heb je of echte clubliefde of een waardeloos huwelijk. Aan het begin van het seizoen hebben Professor Doctor Meester Ingenieur in de Voetbalkunde Peter vd Rijt en mijn persoontje geroepen dat ADO, NEC en Roda JC met het aantrekken van de trainers Petrovic, Hyballa en Anastasiou zichzelf een brevet van onvermogen hebben gegeven en de stand bewijst ons gelijk. Alleen ADO is veilig en toevalligerwijs hebben ze daar ingezien dat ze de trainer moesten vervangen. Laat het een les zijn voor andere clubs. Stel een Nederlandse trainer aan en ga werken met meer spelers uit de regio. Er loopt meer dan genoeg talent op de Nederlandse velden rond.
