Bonjour everyone! That is me, Mathyld. Linnéa @stormvild took this photo of me the last time she visited us in Paris, many moons ago. I miss having friends over at #CastelPyramids... I rarely share photos of - or anything about - myself, really (as you can tell, I am clearly uncomfortable having my picture taken, here 🙈)... But I thought it was time to introduce myself to the new followers. My name is Mathyld. I am half French, half French-Canadian (part native - Abenaki, Mi’Kmaq, Montagnais / Innu and Maliseet). I grew up in a village in Provence, South of France but have been living in Paris for over 25 years. I am the sole person behind everything #underthepyramids: ⚘ I design and craft each jewel as well as the magick ingredients in the shop ⚘ I hand-write the "thank-you" cards, wrap the jewels and pack the orders ⚘ Go to the Post-Office And if I could deliver each piece myself, believe me, I would! Because shipping is definitely *the* most stressful part of the whole ordeal ⚘ Write and answer all the e-mails ⚘ Take all the product photos (I take at least one for every single piece I craft) ⚘ But I also created and take care of the website You know what it is ; one-witch business / freelance artisan... And I am *so* grateful for all of you. I adore my work and even though I almost always work overtime and some other times are pretty hard, I am incredibly happy and truly grateful doing so. I have been more and more reluctent to share photos of myself but I was recently reminded of this one that I don't entirely hate. So this is I, Mathyld 🙈 From the jewels crafting, the website, the product photos to the shipping and handwritten notes I am the only soul and hands behind under the pyramids. And you, who are you? Where do you live and how did you discover my work? This is a portrait @ampelopsisphoto took about a year ago during an impromptu photoshoot inspired by Victoria & Albert. @caroll.noxatra immortalised, on film, this little corner of my Atelier. Atop my antique bench, where I craft all my jewels by hand, one by one, with sustainable sterling silver are stored upcycled jars holding my tools. @gwendolinoleum wears the Chiisikaaw Totem. This ancient symbol appears in the iconography of a number of cultures across the Globe from the dawn of history. For the Norse, this "Sun Cross" / "Solar Wheel" represented the solar calendar and its four seasons (Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter), each arm of the cross marking the solstices and equinoxes. For the Native Americans, it is known as the "Medicine Wheel". It embodies the four directions (North, South, East, West), the four seasons, the four elements, the cycles of life (birth, youth, adulthood, death).
