Watching castlevania season 2 and I can’t even be mad at Carmilla. She *is* surrounded by stupid man-children and this girlboss is not going to let a depressed old bat lead them all into a massive suicidal pact just bc he is miserable.

I have a new essay for everyone its called "OFMD S2 is an insult to Con O'Neill both as a person and his legacy in his acting career as a queer man"
Like, this man did not spend his ENTIRE FUCKING CAREER playing almost exclusively openly queer or heavily, heavily coded queer characters to be treated like this??? In fucking 2023??????? He got better, more queer happy endings in the 80s and 2000s, the fuck?
Tumblr media
I think it's incredibly telling that David felt like he had to hide what he was doing with Iz' character arc from Con till it was too late in filming. Hey, hey David? What did you think he was gonna do if he knew beforehand what was happening?? David? David do you think he would've walked? Do you think he would've used his leverage both as the fan favorite and integral part of the story to demand BETTER from you and everyone else writing the show?
Con has been making queer art since the fucking 80s when he was in his 20s. He has openly talked about trans rights and the fight against homophobia that we have been fighting for years and decades. I can't imagine what kind of push back he had to deal with to get all the gay shit he was doing to come to fruition. I can guarantee that at least part of the reason he doesn't have as big of a career as he absolutely deserves is because of how openly queer he has been since the start. I think if Con had been allowed to have some input in the direction of Izzy's character that something like this wouldn't have happened, at least not this messily and uncompassionate.
I legit can't imagine how fucked he must've felt after being given the genuinely very beautiful Unicorn scene and then be casually taken aside and told "lolol anyway Izzy is gonna die now, without love and without the acceptance he had already been given". But at least he was given a cuddle????
Anyway watch Dancin' Thru The Dark. Its on YouTube and it's about an openly genderqueer/bi man who goes on a sad but fun music adventure and it's actually really really good. Con sings and its a fucking bop AND he doesn't die at the end or watch Bedrooms And Hallways, it's a fun romcom about a found family of all queer people doing stupid gay shit. Also you can see Hugo Weaving's entire dick and balls in one scene and if that's not better gay rep then ofmd s2 then idk what is

Nocturne S2 (and beyond?) predictions
(I started writing this before they dropped the S2 trailer, so… yeah. Good timing? I guess I'll address that at the very end of the post.)
Some of these I think have a good shot at happening, some are just very random, and some are me just messing around otherwise (though the last one would be amazeballs). This would make for a fun bingo board tho.
**SPOILERS** ahoy for Castlevania: Nocturne, S1.
Immediate start to S2 will be Richter & co. all showing up at Juste's to regroup, for lack of anywhere better to go.
Juste will tragically die, probably protecting Richter, because two Belmonts is one too many. This of course just makes Richter sad.
Maria gains a Seiryuu summon in a predictable "oh shit, we suddenly have need for a dragon spewing ice" sort of moment.
Richter finds a stopwatch. *cue Za Warudo sound effect*
Edouard becomes the founder of a night creature village somewhere. A very operatic village. Think musical episodes of "Xena: Warrior Princess."
The abbot meets his predictably banal end, probably crushed in the burning rubble of his church or something.
Tera begs to be staked, probably by Richter since that'll just make him sad again, because she doesn't want to exist as a vampire.
In that same vein, the aimless crying count will continue with like 1-2 scenes per episode. This has the side effect of making Alucard seem downright NOT depressing in comparison, because he did all his crying 300 years ago. Until he suddenly has a flashback of his days with Trevor and Sypha, then I guess he can join in on the crying too. At least he cries pretty unlike the majority of this cast.
Annette obviously has to get knocked up because apparently Belmonts are constantly on the verge of going extinct (you'd think they'd prioritize producing more than 1 kid a generation). If she starts cursing and screaming, "You did this to me!", or if Richter suddenly says, "I love you," over the side of a cliff, expect a baby in the next 7-8 months or so. I've heard Trefor is a wonderful name.
I want Olrox & Mizrak to just fuck off the storyline at some point and get a Morana & Striga type ending. But realistically… do gay men ever get a happy ending? No, because only lesbians get to live -_- So one has to die, probably while trying to protect the other : (
Conversely, I want a scenario where Richter and Olrox have to work together to accomplish something, and they only manage to pull it off because Richter's telling himself repeatedly he'll just kill the bastard afterwards. He doesn't, of course, because the shrieking of the fangirls would be deafening.
And what I think would be REALLY fun (since the original animation appears to hold up as canon for Nocturne), what if we get a "Daddy's home" moment and Dracula joins in for whatever passes as the final fight against Carmilla Erzsebet (assuming she's the end boss)? He doesn't necessarily have to fight for the humans, but perhaps he might be a bit miffed that someone (his niece, in game canon, though they appear to be completely unrelated here) has taken his place on the top of the hierarchy. I would love to see what he could do one-on-one, without holding back.
Post Nocturne S2 teaser trailer viewing
Are Speakers delicious or collectible or something?
Are we really leaving Alucard and Maria alone without a chaperone?
Hmm, back to the Belmont Hold manor? I think we've seen this S2 before…
OLROX WHERE ARE YOU we need you don't make Alucard carry the entire damn show on his back it has to hurt by this point *froths*

Thoughts After Castlevania Nocturne (MAJOR MAJOR SPOILERS)
So Richter thought Alucard was a myth. So that has me thinking, what happened with the Belmont family history records in the last 300 years? Were Belmonts bad at record keeping? Was there a fire in the Belmont Hold that wiped out the history books? Did the story of Dracula’s defeat pass down but somehow the details were distorted? How is the town of Belmont remembered? Does is still exist in 1792? Did Alucard have children with Greta and watch as he outlived them? WHAT HAPPENED IN THE LAST 300 YEARS????
Also I have a headcanon that a portrait of Alucard (looking very sexy and homoerotic) was found in the Belmont hold with no context/description, so future Belmonts just assumed he was a sexual fantasy of one of their ancestors. Thus, a myth
I’m still very much on a high from Castlevania Nocturne, season 2 when?

Binged Castlevania Nocturne (spoilers)
Ooh boy! I thought there was only gonna be 1 season, turns out there's an upcoming 2nd. Anyway, there's no dip in animation and the voice cast was lovely. Also, I am really dense so when Olrox wound up in bed with the crusader guy I was like "wait, I thought that only happened in fanfics when enemies fight then fuck." Anyway, so glad Olrox didn't die fast. The original Castlevania would have the coolest vampire character designs only to kill them after a few seconds of screentime with no character development. I love that Olrox pulled a Vegeta where he's all like "I will conquer the world" but after a hit of human dick, he instantly softens even if he won't admit it. And I guess the writers heard all the "Sypha is the Avatar" jokes cuz Annette is basically a metal- and earthbender. Another point is how the French Revolution setting plays into the main conflict. Basically, the main themes are liberty and status quo and how everyone's drive for freedom or order conflicts with everyone else's in a lovely little Bermuda triangle. The one thing that bugged me was Drolta's appearance. She looked so out of place with her purple hair and modern leather outfit then it's revealed she's waaaay older than most vampires so blending in with humans is not something she wants since her and her mistress are gonna break society anyway. Another thing is that as soon as the priest showed up I was like "He's one of the baddies!" but he took it further than the Bishop in the original series. This guy was making Night-creatures in his basement, making deals with vampires, and convinced himself it was God's will. He was so far down the rabbit hole that I'm pretty sure he's just gonna be wandering around insane in season 2. Also, how the fuck are the main characters gonna win? The Messiah was no-selling all of Richter's moves and blocked the sun. Not to mention she now has Tera who's a vampire AND a magician so it's a lion death goddess and a magician vampire + her army vs Richter, a metalbender, a traumatized magician, a lovesick crusader and maybe an on-again, off-again ally in Olrox? Yeah, Alucard's there, but unless he got his dad on speed-dial, they're kinda fucked.

HI! IM PUTTING MY CASTLEVANIA SEASON 3 EPISODE 9 (and a little of episode 10) THOUGHTS INTO THE WORLD! HERES YOUR SPOILER WARNING NOW!!
oh my god, ok, so. The absolute MADNESS of this episode starts LESS THAN 4 MINUTES IN TO A 28 MINUTE LONG EPISODE. That’s 24 whole minutes of death defining battles and really controlling s3x.
I mean like, the fights were really cool, they were interesting to watch, ISAAC? Bro that’s insane, I really liked the whole mind control concept that town had, I also don’t think the wizard spoke a word the whole time which was an interesting dynamic for a fight. Isaac breaking out of the mind control is like WOO GO ISAAC. But by far, (and yes im aware this was SUPPOSED to be serious) I found all the people slo-mo falling from the building quite funny for some reason?? I guess it was just unexpected.
Then there’s the whole alucard situation, SUMI AND TAKA? WHAT THE FUCK GUYS? YOU WERE GOOD CHARACTERS HOW DID THIS HAPPEN? WHEN DID THINGS CHANGE?? they were genuinely enjoyable, alucard seemed SAD he genuinely seemed like he wanted them to stay as long as possible! THEY COULD SEE HE WAS LONELY 😭 AND THEY USED IT AGAINST HIM! They basically seduced him, tied him up, TRIED TO KILL HIM. And died. They deserved to die hurting the poor dude like that. Alucard has scars everywhere now and I feel so bad for himmm
Trevor and sypha, good lord. POINT 1: SYPHA WAS RIGHT. SHE SAID, “do you think we can wait?” AND JUDGE BEING DUMBBB went “this is my town. You will do as I say >:(“ AND IT MAKES ME SO MAD! SHE CANT DO ANYTHING AND SHE KNOWSSS. “I just didn’t see it” GRAH POINT 2: that WHOLE fight, oh my god, the FIRE the MONSTERS PRIOR “DRUGLORD” SALA. The whole thing was constructed really well, AND SEEING DRACULA AND LISA. AFTER THE END OF EPISODE 9 IT ALMOST MADE ME THINK IT WAS ALUCARD THEY WERE SEEING. JEEZ IT WAS CONSTRUCTED WELL.
And lastly, my dear wife Lenore, I love her with all my heart BUT WHAT A TWISTED WOMAN?? OH MY GOD POOR HECTOR. IN THE BEGINNING I THOUGHT “oh this has to be more consensual than what’s going on with alucard, she’s probably just Seducing him 🤷‍♀️” WRONG. THE SLAVE RING? THAT LOOKS LIKE IT HURT. AND ALL THEIR SCENES I FEEL LIKE ARE WILDLY MORE REVEALING THAN ANYTHING WITH ALUCARD. BUT SERIOUSLY, That whole plan was really pulled off SO WELL she did a very good job of keeping her own face while KNOWING exactly what she was doing every step of the way. All in all this whole episode pulls together really well into a shamble of absolute terror. And I love it.

Spoilers for Season 2 of Alucard recalling his life in the castle
(Absolutely no offense to the fan who made this you know why I'm doing this)
See, this is still better than the Advance 3 flashback (you have no idea how much it pains me to write this) in Prime because at least the sprites match.
We are at a level that low with Prime.
(speaking of SoTN, now I'm reminded of that scene where Maria asks if Alucard knows Richter Belmont, and she pictures him in the style of the game, but Alucard is like "yeah, I know a Belmont" and he pictures Trevor straight out of CV3, 8-bit and all. Now that was an actually cute use of style clashing)
.............. why did they use sunset hill of all levels if they can't even get the rights for its theme the sheer levels of incompetence at display in that one completely pointless sequence 😭

How do we feel about a continuation of the AlucardXfem!reader, with some angst + aftercare (referencing events of the show)?
And also smooching
Warnings: Canon Character Deaths, Castlevania Season 2 Spoilers, Angst, Grief, Mourning Death, Past Sexual Situations, Minor Kissing, Comfort
The castle feels empty. You have no reference to what it felt like before but standing in the foyer, all you feel is loss. The stone is half crumbled and parts of the floor are giving out but it’s still a marvel. Still beautiful. It reminds you too much of its current owner.
You haven’t seen Alucard all day. It’s not a surprise, he’s been avoiding you most of the time, but it still stings. Part of you wonders if you should have left with Trevor and Sypha when you had the chance. You wanted to be here to support him, to help rebuild, but he’s too lost in his grief to notice you now. You feel like a ghost, moving between the rooms and having him only half see you. Or maybe he’s the ghost.
You’ve given yourself the self-appointed task to clean. As much as you can at least. There are pieces of the castle you can’t move by yourself and you don’t try, tidying things around them as much as possible. You split your time between the Belmont Hold and Dracula’s Castle, hoping to have both in some semblance of order before winter hits.
A part of your mind whispered that you’re being a coward, avoiding Alucard as much as he’s avoiding you. You don’t know how to help him on his path and instead of trying you turned away. It was easy to shake off those thoughts the first few days but as the weeks pass, you get more and more worried. Conversations dwindle down to nothing and you can only watch as he goes to get fish and come back.
You debate about leaving. You know that he wouldn’t fight you, not really. He would let you go but you want this to work, this thing that’s started between you. It’s still new enough that it doesn’t have a name but you don’t want to let go, even if it hurts.
You return from the Hold today just as the sun is starting to set. You’re sweaty and covered in dirt, just wanting to eat and go to sleep. You don’t look for Alucard, heading for the kitchen. You see the remains of his dinner, your heart pinging when you see he’s left you to fend for yourself. Again.
The bottle of wine on the table is empty and your fingers are gentle as they brush against the Trevor and Sypha dolls. He’s lost and you want to help him as much as you can. You eat something simple, fruit and bread, before going to find the half vampire. His usual spots are empty and it’s not until you’re passing one of the lesser used hallways that you hear it. Crying.
You try to keep your footsteps light but you’re sure he can hear you coming. He doesn’t bother to look up as you enter the room, taking in the portrait of his mother. In all the time he’s been here, you haven’t seen him cry.
He flinches back when you touch him, head jerking up to look at you. His eyes are wild, looking like he’ll flee at any moment. You ignore his panic, moving slowly and pulling him towards you. He’s shorter in the chair but not by a lot and you have to tug him a few times before he buries his face into your shoulder.
“I’m here Adrian, I’m here.” You keep your voice low and quiet, not wanting to make him feel like he has to talk. His shoulders stiffen for a moment before going boneless, pressing as close as he can get to you. Tears soak your shoulder and you ignore it, running your fingers gently through his hair as you hum above him.
You’re covered in dirt, he’s covered in tears and somehow it works. You realize, cradling him in your arms, that you’ve been lonely too in this giant castle. Adrian takes a while to stop crying but you don’t rush him, even as your knees begin to ache. Finally, after that feels like hours, he pulls away. His eyes are clear for the first time since you had killed Dracula.
“Come on, I think we could both use a bath.” You want to talk to him about his feelings, about his grief but not right now. Not when both of you are so tired. He seems a little surprised by the suggestion but nods, nudging you gently so he can stand up. You offer him a smile and he gives one back; it’s a little pathetic looking but you don’t comment.
“Thank you.” His voice is raw and low and you can’t resist the urge to lean up and kiss him briefly. Adrian’s eyes go wide with surprise, something familiar flashing through his graze. Maybe he’s forgotten what you are in his haze.
“You’re welcome.” You lock your fingers together and tug him into the hallway, keeping your eyes locked with his. He hesitates at the doorway, almost turning back but you tug him forward. His eyes are soft and tired and he follows you dutifully down the hall. Your arm is lifted and cool lips brush the back of your hand. You squeeze his fingers and he squeezes back; it’s not perfect but you can heal. Together.

SPOILERS FOR CASTLEVANIA NOCTURNE AHEAD!!!
So, I finished watching Castlevania Nocturne and oml it’s so GOOD.
Anyway, I was discussing with my partner what are the loose ends/ potential storylines for the next season.
Edouard
It’s left about open ended to where Edouard currently is. The ending of the season suggests one of two things.
1. Edouard has taken the forgemaster machine to Hell. This means that he can go to Hell but also manage to break out the abbey if the gang decides to open a portal to hell. They have the book and they have Annette.
2. Edouard is going to stay in the Abbey to get the night creatures to gain a conscious of who they were before they were turned. We know that Edouard knows who he is plus Jacques and one other night creature. I believe that Edouard could potentially repeat the actions of his previous life by creating solidarity between all the night creatures and potentially overthrow the Abbot. What this will also result in is a break in the creator- night creature loyalty bond and thus Erzsebet and the Abbot cannot control the night creatures, thus weakening their power. Also a nice little link between OG Castlevania and Nocturne is Edouard and the other night creatures gaining consciousness like the Philosopher night creature in season 3/4.
The Book
This is a bit of a crack theory but I do think the book connects to the OG series, so buckle up!
In the final episode of the OG Castlevania, Lenore and Hector have a very poignant and contextually important conversation about the direction of Hector’s life and his interest in not only forgemastering but also in vampire ethics and the sciences. Lenore suggests to Hector that he should explore the world and write a book which Hector agrees with.
Now, Drolta says in Nocturne that for night creatures to be made they need a human touch. The machine is implied to not have been built by the Abbot but to come from Hell itself. The Book also is old and includes instructions on how to open Hell as well as conduct forgemastering skills and seems to include lore around vampires and magic. It is implied that the Abbot himself doesn’t use direct tools to create the night creatures like Isaac and Hector. Therefore, the Abbot’s tool is the machine but he didn’t create it. Thus, the person that made the machine must’ve been a human that could forgemaster.
I doubt that Hector is undead/vampire but according to OG Castlevania and what happens in Season 4 there are two people that know how to open portals/get to hell: Saint Germain and Hector. Saint Germain knew because he was a time traveler and had a stone that allowed him to open portals/mirrors to hell and other dimensions. Hector probably knew how to get to hell due to his studies or his research with Dracula.
In conclusion, I think that Hector not only made the forgemaster machine, he also wrote the book that the Abbot now possesses. It’s the human touch that is required to make the night creatures. The Abbot potentially found this book in a church collection like Saint Germain did in the Season 3 or gained access to the book by making a deal with Dracula when he came back into the world with Lisa. Additionally, we know that the Belmont library could have also contained a book on dark magic as it implied in Nocturne that the Belmont family resided in France until about the mid 18th century.
These are some messy ideas but these are just a couple things off my head🫶
